Captivating

The lazy afternoons are his favorite times - just you two lounging in the peaceful quiet of his bedroom after a hectic week.

You're curled up comfortably amongst the rumpled sheets, fully engrossed in whatever novel has currently captured your imagination.

He loves the look of serene contentment washing over your features as you get lost between those pages.

Rather than napping or occupying himself otherwise like usual, he finds himself utterly transfixed watching you read instead.

The way your eyes flit rapidly across each new line, your lips mouthing certain words unconsciously under your breath, fingers absently toying with a stray lock of hair - he catches every tiny mannerism and nuance like a lovesick teenager.

Occasionally you'll gasp or giggle at an amusing passage, entire face lighting up with such unbridled delight that his chest clenches instinctively.

In those moments, you resemble that enchanted little girl he first fell for - uninhibited and radiating pure, unfiltered joy from deep within.

When you shift positions, tucking arms and legs into new cozy configurations snugly, he has to resist the overwhelming compulsion to reach out and pull you flush against his chest protectively.

He craves drinking in your warm flowery scent intermingled with hints of their freshly laundered detergent all afternoon if possible.

Sometimes you'll pause to bite your plump bottom lip in pensive concentration, and his eyes instantly fixate there helplessly.

He fantasizes about leaning over and capturing that lush pout between his own teeth next while chasing away any nagging thoughts still lingering with unhurried kisses instead.

Inevitably you'll realize he's been unabashedly ogling your relaxed form for who knows how long. Flushing self-consciously, you'll playfully toss your book aside to pepper his stoic visage with indignant kisses until he cracks the faintest lopsided grin of pure contentment in return.
