Okay, another eBay find for early and obscure Nine Inch Nails memorabilia I hadn't seen before. A flier for a release party event for Sin (halo four) in 1990 in New York. Look at that list of special guests, among other things.

Klub Kid Realness 👽💅🏻✨🛸🟢💖🧼🌟
Finally sharing my Klub Kid look I did for a virtual party I DJ'ed for back in March. Heavily inspired by Leigh Bowery, Kabuki Starshine, Amanda Lepore and the whole Klub Kid/Disco 2000 scene.
Also, had a lot of fun mocking up one of those collectable cards they did back then. And it actually has a whole "character description". 🤡💅🏻

not me going on another Party Monster hyperfixation
i swear the only reason this has such low critic reviews is because it's campy queer media, this movie is a god damn gem. like, watch the interviews with like the real Michael Alig and James St. James and all them and tell me that the casting wasn't fucking PERFECT and that they didn't perfectly nail them

ANDRE MELENDEZ
ANDRE MELENDEZ
1971-1996
Andre Melendez moved from Colombia to New York with his family when he was aged 8-years-old. He became a drug dealer during the 1990s at Peter Gatien’s nightclubs in NYC. He is best known for wearing feathered wings in Manhattan clubs.
Melendez was a member of the Club Kids, the Club Kids were a group of young people who would frequently occupy NYC nightclubs through the late 1980s and early 1990s. They were known for their outrageous dress and being flamboyant.
Melendez was murdered by Michael Alig and Robert Freeze Riggs on Sunday, 17 March 1996. There was a confrontation between the men which became violent, and the two men killed him. They then placed him in a bathtub and kept him there for 5-7 days, they then dismembered him and placed his body parts in bags and a cardboard box and dumped his remains in the Hudson River. The box was found in April 1996 in Staten Island (due to a tropical storm). He was identified by the use of dental records.
Alig fled to New Jersey and stayed at a motel room with his drug dealer boyfriend. Alig was arrested in December 1996 and hours later they arrested Riggs in Manhattan.
Alig and Riggs were offered a plea deal for 10-20 years if they accepted charge of manslaughter. In 1997 they pled guilty, Riggs was released on parole in 2010 and Alig released in 2014. Alig died in 2020 of a drug overdose aged 54.

Here’s the Club Kids on Donahue:

And me with Michael Alig & James St. James at Michael’s first art show in NYC, June 2015. One of the best nights! I ended up later hanging with Lady Kier (Deee-Lite) after her show until 4am 🙌🏼

controversial maybe but i feel like most drag queens are just trans but don’t want to transition so they get their fix out of that. like crossdressers are just normal and gnc but drag wueens have this creepy ass need to call themselves by a different name, get lip and cheek fillers, use hip pads and boob pads etc .. I genuinely don’t see the difference with trans women whatsoever
disagree. its a role/a character. i dont think they actually want to be women (which would make them trans), i think they love being gay men, and this is part of being gay for them. feminine gay men are just prone to consumerism (including the beauty industry) because to uphold a level of hyperfemininity especially as a man you need to keep spending money on makeup, dresses, and even beauty procedures. not a fan of diagnosing gay men as trans because internalised homophobia is already a driving force behind gay men transitioning, which is not good. i can imagine insecure gay men developing self esteem issues and maybe even body dysmorphia from doing extensive drag because they might get more compliments and attention and feel more „sexy“ in that role though i dont know but i feel like for most its an alter ego that allows them more „freedom“
#i have met drag queens and they are just feminine gay men when they take off the character#i think there are a few mentally ill gay men who start adapting their character in real life but i think there are different mechanisms at#work than gender dysphoria#thinking about the marco pratto or michael alig cases#ask

Excerpts from B.Z. Goldberg’s translation of Margarita Aliger’s “Your Victory” and Michael Rashkovan’s “Answer to Margarita.” Goldberg did not know who wrote the poems–all he knew was that Soviet Jews secretly recited these poems, and so he recorded them and translated them.
