Perma Shifting - as a successful shifter and my view on it (I just wanna yap that's all)

Earlier today I had seen a rather popular shifter speak about her shifting experiences and her not believing in Perma Shifting. This caught my interest, mainly because i myself am a Shifter who DOES believe in PS, and I also know a lot of successful shifters who also believe in it.

I overall just am very intrigued in the idea of what people mean by not "believing" in PS. Do you not believe in choosing to stay in your Dr? Or do you not believe in the ability in staying one exact reality for permanent? This is a bit of a wormhole I know, especially for shifters who plan on living multiple lives- for a very long time. How do you guys feel about immortality? In the sense of shifting away before death anyway.

Questions and curiosity aside, I personally believe in PS because of my own perspective. In my eyes, every Dr of mine is the same level of reachability as my Cr, like they're all in range of possibility if I chose so. When I shift, taking my MHA Dr for example - in my eyes, that place THEN becomes my current reality. Because it's where I'm currently at. I choose to shift back to the previous reality (my now current reality) and this has never happened without my intention behind it.

Take another example, my Navariah Dr.

This Dr is a place that isn't a media, or a book, it's a random and made-up fantasy world I had built in a whim and chose to shift to after I had gotten a taste of fantasy-esk realities from my Dragon Dr. I had shifted to this reality relatively quickly, and get this! I stayed for an entire 9 years and 7 months. That's almost a decade you guys.

The plan wasn't to stay that long in the slightest, I shifted purely to get a peek into the world I had created and see what it looked like and possibly use that sneak peek to form my decision on shifting back there later on. But guess what you guys?! This ended up being my top, longest shift I had ever done by far. Each month went by, and eventually my previous reality (my now Cr) had been a distant memory and pretty much old news. I wasn't worried about anything going on here at all while in Navariah, because I had gotten so caught up in that world and everything happening over there - the clock continued to tick whether I was paying attention or not.

Of course, I thought about my Cr often, but truthfully I hadn't started debating on actually coming back until the 5th year. In my opinion, this is a grand example of what it could look like/feel to shift and find that you have no current desires to shift back.

If I could shift, and stay in a Dr for almost an entire decade, who's to say someone out there hasn't already decided to spend the rest of their days in a Dr? Or at least, making that place - whatever it is - your new home Cr.

Do I ever plan on PS? I have absolutely considered it. Hell, if we're bringing TECHNICAL HERE🌚 I have, but not in some big revolutionary way. The Cr I am in right now is a place I've shifted to probably two years ago now (?) it's been a long time. Where I am now is a place that I had built for myself back then, and I live it everyday. However, there are other places i had given thought to staying permanently. Navariah, again, is a great example of this. I miss my life dearly there, I miss my family, I miss my friends and lovers, I miss my Dragons, I miss my magic, and I miss the lovely planet Navariah flourished on. The way the sun set and made the sky dance with colors and personality that my Cr's sky lacks. There's so many things that make me half convinced to leave everything and just go back home to Navariah.

But what about you all? What about HERE. I've spent the first quarter of my life in this plane of existence, with a constantly growing and changing reality as my Cr. I've built something here, and I feel that there's something I need to see out here. A teeny, tiny voice tells me that it'd be in my best interest to stay and find out - to experience. And so, that was enough to keep this place as my planted home-point.

For those who permashift, I support you wholly. I don't need details or a reason to, this is your life and these are decisions that are entirely yours to make nomatter what opinions I or anyone else may have.

Whoever you are, we believe in you.

Ochako Uraraka is optimistic, determined, and adaptable. She has a petite build, brown eyes and a soft, brown bob that frames her face. She speaks in a warm, encouraging tone and has a passion for the stars. Uraraka would major in astrophysics. Her studies would focus on gravitational physics, black holes, wormholes, as well as researching how gravity influences planetary formation and galactic structures. She would study how objects move in space, planetary orbits, and exploring the origins and fate of the universe, such as the Big Bang Theory. I picture her stargazing through an old observatory’s telescope and jotting down notes from aged astronomy books. While I originally considered Uraraka as a psychology major, given her helpful nature and creation of the “Quirk Counseling Expansion Project”, I wanted to avoid giving multiple students the same major. Of course, she can still have an interest in psychology!

So, idk if I'm actually gonna post often, like yesterday's random rant was surprising to me too y'all. I do plan on doing things, but again, I'm sorta stupid when it comes to this lol, so like help?? Y'all got suggestions on what I should do?

Like, I've got two MHA OCS (who I mostly draw) and I have some stories that I wanted to write, though they're not great. I feel like maybe if I do it here, I might actually have the motivation to make progress? IDK how my brain works, we'll see. How does it feel to be a pedophile😍😍

if you're talking about me writing for mha characters when canonly they're still in high school, i know the conversation is really controversial and divided about it. i can't change your mind or tell you how to feel. i started watching the anime when i was still a minor (about the same age as them) and took a liking to the characters, so much so that i fell into the wormhole of the fandom on tumblr and started writing my own things. perhaps i forgot to mention it since it's really obvious in my mind when i'm writing, so that's on me––but everyone's aged up in everything i write (18+) which i started once i became a legal adult, on this blog and my other fanfic blogs as well.

Ok today my brain has just been on and my friend is enabling me so I am going to tall about my feelings about crossover fanfics.

Below the cut because I have no idea how excessive I will be.

SO.

There are generally two ways for crossover fics to be, blended universe and what I'm going to call 'faller' crossovers.

Blended universe is like these two have existed in the same universe forever, they're just only interacting now. The only examples coming to mind right now are this Disney/Transformers crossover that was overall really good but also there was Megatron x Maleficent as a ship and it actually worked pretty well and this series I read before I really got into Transformers that was a crossover with Sonic and all I remember about that one was Shockwave was a femme (who Eggman found attractive), gender mattered/sex was a thing in Cybertronians, and I didn't like how Optimus was being written. Actually no this one MHA/Transformers crossover counts and it's great I love it so much the closest I can get to a complaint is it's using some elements from TFP and doesn't have Knock Out and Breakdown because the author might want to do combiner stuff with Breakdown which is fine but it means we didn't get Knock Out flirting with Optimus Prime which is a crime if you ask me.

Anyway, something that fic does really well that is one of the things I really like about a lot of crossovers is that it explains both sides of the crossover really well. Like it starts off with MHA, but from what I have learned from consuming multiple MHA crossover fics, it starts from the beginning of MHA, so if you're coming from Transformers, you still know what's going on, and then it also explains everything going on with the Transformers side of things. A lot of good crossovers that aren't already being really niche do this really well, explaining both sides of the crossover so both fandoms can enjoy it equally. This has also led to me reading crossover fanfiction between two series I have no intention of ever seriously consuming canon over, like Danny Phantom and Batman crossovers.

Ok now I am going to talk about faller crossovers. This is when a character (or multiple characters) from one franchise or continuity, either from dying or some kind of incident involving a teleportation device or magic of some kind, suddenly wakes up or falls into another franchise or continuity. Some time travel fics also work this way. (The fact that faller is also the term in Pokemon for a human who came through through Ultra Wormhole was not intentional but fits extremely well.) I really really like these. Like. So much. One of my favorite crossovers that I am always hungry for content for I only am after based on faller plots. It's also really cool how it can be unclear about how obvious it is. Maybe it's obvious that the person is from another dimension/reality. Maybe someone witnessed the person appear or fall from the sky, or it's blatantly obvious that they don't belong. (I am only restraining myself from going off on Transformers Prime/Transformers Animated crossovers of this variety, especially the one being created by @ justawannabearchaeologist because I know like one person will know what I am talking about and they already follow her and are very aware of my preferences.) Or maybe they woke up somewhere and can blend in. They may not have all of the appropriate knowledge, but they can try and work things out and live on their own. I am reading what is probably an embarrassing number of 'MCU Peter wakes up in Gotham' fics but they are a really good example of what I'm talking about. Also 'Friendly Foreign Dimensional Exchange Student Spiderman!' on AO3 is a MCU Peter into MHA fic that also fits really well with my point and it takes forever to update but it's good imo.

MHA fics actually seem to do crossover explanations really well? Maybe it's because the setting lends itself to explaining itself, especially to new characters, and there is the extremely high likelihood for a MHA fan to go into the fic without being familiar with the other fandom (I think I still have an active Danny Phantom/MHA crossover fic open) so the character gets an explanation too.

Idk crossovers are cool and I don't think I have ever written The Talk about why I think they're so cool.

-Zed and Tango are heroes in training, Zed's a first year with the ability to think with portals (Wormhole), Tango's 3rd year and can shift his metal left arm into any kind of tool (TinkerTek)

They're buddies in a similar way as Mirio and Izuku

-Joker's a villain (lmao)

-And Imp and Skizz are top pro heroes that are next to each other in the rankings, they constantly flip flop because, y'know, they're competitive with each other, and are often working together by the water because of Impulse's quirk

Impulse is a guardian-esque heteromorph with a quirk that's literally just the totem of undying

Skizz has the general appearance of an angel, wings, halo, and sparky eyes, but dressed like a biker (Hawks vibes), he brings pure good vibes, and if he concentrates enough, he can give someone good luck but someone else of his choosing gets bad luck, of course he makes sure it's himself every time

This is an unpopular opinion, but screw it, it’s my blog and I need to vent it out: I don’t get why the Spider-verse movie is getting so ridiculous amount of praise.

I’ve seen the movie, it was okay, but it hasn’t blown my socks off. It had lots and lots of amazing moments, and certain elements, like animation, are top-notch, but sadly there is an equal amount of stuff that is just plain unnecessary. And yet I hear opinions that this should be nominated for best movie. Not just animated one, best MOVIE movie. Seriously?

Like, staring from the very beginning: how bloody convenient it is that the Miles is getting bitten by a radioactive spider at the EXACT moment when he needs to become a new spider-man, since the old one dies? Like, compare it to, for example, how All-might passes his power to Deku in MHA. That scene makes sense, since he knows his power is straining him, so he needs to find a new superhero, and he finds a kid who was willing to sacrifice himself for others. That works, since he has shown him he is worthy, even though he has no powers.

...For the record, why do we need Miles to be Spider-man (aside the comic books argument)? Wouldn’t that be kinda cooler if he stayed the whole movie without powers, and only by the end, when he learned his lessons, his powers would have awakened for good? I think the movie was trying to do something of that matter, with his powers malfunctioning, but it could have been done better - he could learn from all of the different spider-men, and that combined knowledge would have created him as an original character. If that was the intent, then they have failed in showing that properly. 

Second biggest pet peeve: why do we need six spider-people? Or spider-creatures? Two would be fine: Miles and Peter B. Parker - Miles wants to be a new spider-man, perhaps needs to with his powers growing inside him, and needs a mentor. But Peter is tired of being a spider-man, let alone passing that burden to a kid. And here’s the thing: it worked at the start! In those few scenes with only these two, you could feel that chemistry. That meme everyone is passing around with Miles looking at thinking Peter, that encapsulates this relationship: an eager student and a reluctant mentor who himself has to find will to, fight, and, well, even live. 

That could have been so great! But no, we have to add four more characters.

The worst thing is, the last three of them - Spider-noir, Peni and Spider-ham are literally dropped on our heads in Spider-man’s hideout. Their introductions are crammed into one scene, and they are so freaking unnecessary! 

What is the reason for Spider-noir to be in the movie? Because he is black and white, and everything is in colour (also he is Nicholas Cage). Peni? She’s anime and has a giant robot. Spider-ham? He’s literally a joke. I think Peni has a scene where she fixed the USB plot device, but given the Spider-cave and tech inside, I think they could have pulled that off. Granted, they have a few comedic and action scenes, but honestly, that makes the movie more chaotic for me. Not saying it couldn’t have worked, but it certainly didn’t for me. 

Because of all that unnecessary stuff, so much amazing scenes are downplayed. Miles’ relationship with his father and uncle should be the center of that movie. And instead, they have been pushed to the side. 

In my review I compared this movie to Big Hero Six, and you know what, I still think that is genuinely a better movie. 

In fact.... Hang on...

We start off with a kid trying to prove himself, then a death of his mentor, who passes a USB device to him happens, then a group of weird, colourful characters appear that also posses superpowers, they have to act together to fight a bad guy, then a good guy who was another mentor turns out to be evil, and the evil guy’s plan was to bring back a family member from another dimension through some wormhole portal machine. 

Also a robot sacrifices itself by the end. 

Oh. My. God. This IS the same plot!

Like... this cannot be a coincidence!

And because we got at least a few scenes between Hiro and the gang on the campus, their relationship is better. Not like a league better, mind you, it’s still a lot of characters, but at least there is some improvement. And you know what, they should have given Spider-verse a TV series - that could explore their characters. Let Spider-ham and Nicholas Cage have a day off in New York, I’d so freaking watch that!  

So, yeah. I wish I could like this movie with a passion so many people are giving it, but sadly... I cannot.
