Hello there! I've seen your art featuring Overhaul and Dabi and I waited to know: do you ship them actively and what is the reasoning?
Hello!! The answer is yesā€”theyā€™re actually my favorite, go-to ship. Which may sound insane because theyā€™ve never met in canon and the closest they got was when Dabi helped them attack Chisakiā€™s transport truck buuut just hear me out, guysā€¦
One: Very basic and straightforward to begin with, I like the way their personalities clash. Dabi being very smile-y and ā€œgo-with-the-flowā€ and destroying things for the love of it, whereas Chisaki is critical and meticulous and only does what he finds necessary. Itā€™s really fun to imagine how their dynamic would work if they met and got to know each-other. Especially because canon shows us that both of them can dip into the otherā€™s typical personalityā€”sometimes Dabi can be calculating and calm, and Chisaki can be quippy and irrational. Not to mention theyā€™re both egomaniacs. Thereā€™s a general contrast with room for common traits!
Two: Theyā€™re actually very similar in some ways. Chisaki and Dabi both were once in AFO/Garakiā€™s orphanage, and are the only two characters in canon who share that same experience. Both grew up in an unhealthy environment where they prioritized their father and the expectations theyā€™d set upon them over all else. Both grew up with a complicated relationship with quirks and hero society.
Three: The way their characters calibrate with each-other. Chisaki would like Dabiā€™s flames as their heat means sanitization beyond anything else, and Dabi wouldā€™ve done anything for a quirk thatā€™d ā€œfixā€ him. Both know what itā€™s like to go directly against what the most important person in their life told them to do because they thought itā€™d be better to do it their own way, and in an attempt to grasp validation from said most important person. Their entire motivations were for their fathers, but in the complete opposite fashion. Dabi wanted to kill Endeavor, and Chisaki wanted to help Pops; yet in the end, Chisaki hurt Pops more than Dabi ever hurt Endeavor.
And on the note of Dabi having grown up with everyone around him telling him heā€™s defected, having him meet the guy whose literal whole complex is ā€œfixingā€ things and having him tell him ā€œYou donā€™t need to be fixedā€ just. Lunges at me, slightly.
Also, Dabi being the king of Holding Grudges whereas Chisaki seems literally physically incapable of doing such a thing is funny. Maybe they can mutually learn from each-other and meet in the middle šŸ’€
Also also, they would be an UNSTOPPABLE duo. Like their quirks and smarts paired together? Yeah, ur cooked bro. Chisaki would be able to heal Dabiā€™s burns and replenish his stamina and Dabi would quite literally cook whoever their opponents are. Which is a perfect dynamic for their preferences as Dabi loves to fight and Chisaki hates to. Theyā€™re both able to protect themselves as much as each-other and so I fear if you encounter them, youā€™re not making it out of there unscathed broski
Anyway, thank you for the ask (I love rambling about Dabihaul), I hope this answers your question, and feel free to ask me anything else! šŸ˜‹šŸ«¶

The reason rare-pairs get so much hate is that thereā€™s two halfā€™s of the shipping world
one half ships for the sake of canon-ness. They like to expand on romantic tension between the two characters that they feel is present with in the source material.
And the other half ships for fun. For the sake of ā€œhey I like this characterā€™s personality and this characterā€™s personality, I think they would have a cool dynamic, iā€™m gonna ship them because I like this imagined dynamic!ā€
And neither is wrong! Itā€™s just that both sides sorta struggle to understand each other.
The canon source side views rare-pairs as out of pocket, random, and point less because thereā€™s no canon basis for them. But the rare pair side thinks that canon-ness shouldnā€™t have that big of an impact and donā€™t understand why the canon shippers are arguing with them.
Take this interaction under a bakuiida tiktok for example:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The canon shippers donā€™t understand why you would ship something just for fun since you know it will never be canon. Then the ā€œjust for funā€ shippers donā€™t understand why a ship has to be canon to not get hate.
And honestly this is kinda where I lie. I think you can ship whatever you want as long as itā€™s morally okay. And I also never *expect* my ship to be canon, to me, canon romantic interactions are just cherries on top of the ship dessert. However, thatā€™s not how it is for everyone and thatā€™s also fine!
Anyways, I could get into the specific of how I think this causes tension and toxicity in fandom spaces and how it effects queer ships verses hetero ships differently (let me know if anyone wants that ā€˜cause I totally will) but likeā€” the point of this post specifically is that ppl enjoy different things! for different reasons! and if we all understand that and play nice and it would cut back a lot on the drama and elementary arguing.

Just coming back here to sayā€¦
I fucking warned yā€™all!
Dropped mha awhile ago and Iā€™m glad I did, seeing how itā€™s honoring its title as green Borutoā€™s dad.
I fucking told yā€™all that it wouldnā€™t be canon. If those supposed leaks are true (they seem legit to me) then I was right all along! Frankly Iā€™m not surprised.
Weā€™ll probably be worm food before we ever see a gay/bi/queer shonen protagonist.

It's actually amazing how okay I was with 430 being the ending for mha - despite all the villains dying, despite izuku and katsuki never getting a proper conversation despite it being lampshaded all series even by all might himself, despite wasting the final couple of chapters on bs we could've had in 1 chapter, despite not focusing more time on HOW MUCH society has changed to really hone in on the themes, despite not having most of the characters we've come to love converse/interact in the final goddamn chapter - I was still fine with the ending. That is until I had read the dumpster fire that is 431. Forget the whole weird ship confirmation(??) that was pushed onto the final page instead of including it in the actual main manga, I hate how this chapter essentially shits on most of what we've built on for the past four hundred chapters?? Like the problem isn't the ship, the problem is more so of how much was needed to be sacrificed and have characters behave ooc for it to happen? Especially when hori could have still made an iz//cha ending without doing all that. We could have confirmed that ship while also giving proper care to the other characters and also finally getting more on deku's thoughts on all that has happened to him from the series to the man he is now. The man he has had to become in the last 8 years and what that means now that he can be a hero again. We could've finally ended on the note of Izuku and Katsuki emulating the win to save, save to win as a hero duo, cementing them as proper childhood friends again after spending the majority of the manga with them apart and in deep miscommunication.. Instead we got whatever the fuck 431 was while leaving most things implied or done away with abruptly. And don't even get me started on why hori felt it was needed to shift focus and POV to someone else when this was a time it was very much needed to be deku's POV

Tiny little rant about shipping
Since I made that post about the bellow diamond ship Iā€™ve seen a lot of posts trying to give rules to shipping. More specifically people talking about how you shouldnā€™t ship characters that are ā€œobviouslyā€ platonic.
I understand wanting other people to interact with that also think that those characters are just platonic and complaining about not having that space is totally valid. BUT some of yall take it way too far. Who cares if people donā€™t ship characters like you do. Everyone has different experiences and will interpret a relationship differently.
Also what happened to multi-shipping itā€™s like a constant war between ships in every fandom. Like it does not make sense.
Now Iā€™m fully for healthy shipping rules (like no minor and adult or animal x person) but saying someone canā€™t ship something bc YOU donā€™t see it that way is insane and just makes fandom spaces unbearable.
Also Iā€™m not talking about the canon aspec characters bc I donā€™t really like when people ship canon lesbians with men. But you have to understand that itā€™s fiction and that fanon has very little influence on canon.
Also the most people I see complaining about this are either heterosexual or bisexual and those are the two most represented sexualities in all of media. So you have to take into consideration that people need representation and if they donā€™t get it in canon they will make it in fanon.
Shipping two fictional characters hurts no one and really if you have a problem with an adult x adult or minor X minor ship I think you need to get a hobby instead of hating on people for enjoying things.

I think I like MHA 431 even less than 430. Give me my doomed yuri.
That said, I'm not gonna, like, HATE hate on it. It's not like I don't like IzuOcha ā€“ I like that ship quite a bit. It just feels...kinda forced?
Like, the significance of hand-holding has always been a BakuDeku thing, like, throughout the whole series. It feels a bit bumrushed in at the end for IzuOcha. Plus, Horikoshi said 429 was the end and 430 was the epilogue. Did it have too much homosexual subtext for Shounen Jump (BakuDeku and OchaToga)?
I have mixed feelings and discomfort over 431 for that reason.

i agree with your my hero fandom post these days, but back in like 2016 i have to say as someone deeply entrenched in it it was not just shipping cringe discourse. Most notable incidents i remember are the most popular person in the fandom being a tyrant on discord and ousting people entirely just becaus they didnā€™t roleplay the characters how they liked, the izuocha coloniser x native fic, the ā€œtoga has a forced baby with monomaā€ au, the ā€œanti-anti blocklistā€ that we infiltrated a circle to leak and the entire ā€œantiā€ side of the fandom rejoiced for a day straight, the famed anti bakudeku flag discourse it was a lot more ā€œeventfulā€
Iā€™m not saying the mha fandom didnā€™t have any eventful dramas, just that the non-mha fans who criticize is generally do not have any other points then ā€œbakudeku badā€ and ā€œshipping cringeā€. I directly stated in that post that I have never seen the people who hate the mha fandom bring up stuff like what youā€™re saying. Often times just a vague statement of the fandom being bad and chaotic with no actual examples other then bakudeku or apparently some weird questions VAs were asked at panels?

Any favorite bakugou ships?
( this is me yapping sorry if this is long anonšŸ˜ )
Ohhh this one is interesting, I don't talk about ships as much on here but I like a couple of ships so I don't want to offend anyone in the fandom because it's my opinion.
I love bkdk, kacchako, krbk ( I'm not picky when it comes to ship lol )
I also like him with jirou ( they have such a sweet friendship and I can see them as a cute couple as well. )
I also love selfships or oc x canon characters those are fun too!!
I love a good handful of ships but I can't say most because some fans are toxic when it comes to ships lol.
I don't care if a ship becomes a Canon, I'll still ship those characters together or multiple characters, I do love some poly ships, I feel like it is so underrated.
But it's hard to choose since I love bakugo being single.... coz I mean look at him šŸ’€šŸ’€ irritating loud mouth brat but at same time I feel like he can be a softie with anyone tbh so like I said it's hard to choose who's my favorite ship.
You can tell me your favorite in the dms, we can discuss about ships. ^.^
(p.s. I forgot to mention I love him with froppy as well, I like their interesting dynamic too lol)

Something I think I've always been confused on is the fandom shipping Chronostasis with Overhaul, I know they arent blood but they were raised together but I didnt know if they were brothers or not I personally like them as tragic brothers but if theres an answer I would love to hear it
Hmm, if Iā€™m being honest, I never got the vibes that they perceived each other as brothers, or that they were raised as siblings. I do like the interpretation of them viewing each-other as siblings, but I did not personally think that when I watched s4.
Theyā€™re childhood friends and Kurono displays great loyalty to Chisakiā€”I think those two things are the popular appeal to shipping them, and also the whole ā€œleader-and-their-right-hand-manā€ thing (the even better appeal is that theyā€™re totally T4T but whatever). Chisaki also seems less cold/more trusting towards Kurono than anyone else, and people interpret any form of closeness as romantic (that is not something Iā€™m exactly happy about), so. Yeah? Idk
Personally, their canon dynamic just really doesnā€™t strike me as a brotherly one. Definitely either close friends or some form of lovers to me. One of my favorite flavors of Chronohaul is Kurono being hopelessly in love while Chisaki isā€¦ not. Sometimes I like a good olā€™ unrequited love where the one whoā€™s in love is perfectly content with the fact that their feelings are not reciprocated, which is how I view these two most of the time *resists urge to ramble about exactly how that dynamic works to me*
I think my ranking of how much I believe in their relationship type is as so:
3 (last): brothers
2 (second): lovers
1 (first): best friends & each-otherā€™s only friend ever specifically; or one-sided love on Kuronoā€™s side (these make me simultaneously warm inside & deep in anguish)

Is it just me or is the MHA fandom kinda split between the (most tumblr) hardcore bakudeku/tododeku shippers and the rest of the fandom is just like ā€œIf your ship isnā€™t remotely cannon I will skin you aliveā€
I am neither of these btw

I don't know anyone who's still excited about canon but the DFO fuckers are having a GREAT time on this website
What is the 'Family Guy' of anime?
This is the hardest tumblr ask of all time. I feel like I'm being graded.
Tentatively, I think my answer is My Hero Academia. At first blush they don't seem that similar, but I'd present the following points of similarity:
A period of peak cultural relevance that lasted not quite a decade
both are widely considered to have EITHER (depending on who you ask) either have been good at one point and then fallen off OR have never been good at all. Thinking they're *still* good is a relatively rare opinion, moreso for Family Guy I think since I still run into the rare MHA apologist anecdotally
Huge amount of in-jokes that no one who has not seen the series would get that the remaining fanbase repeats incessantly
Merchandised to hell and back
ONE OF the big names in their field, but much like Family Guy forever stands in the shadow of The Simpsons, My Hero Academia is forever shadowed by the likes of Naruto and Dragonball Z
annoying sex pest character (Quagmire for FG, Mineta I think his name is for MHA)
increasingly elaborate fight scenes as the seasons go on
Green as a major color of the lead character (Peter Griffin's pants / Deku's uh....most of him, honestly)
This is not an airtight case by ANY means and I'm open to hearing other opinions, if someone else has one that they think they can make a good case for I'd love to hear it, genuinely.

hmm i do think that danmei and dangai (censored danmei cdrama adaptations) being many non-chinese fandom people's first impression of chinese media has given them some misconceptions about mainstream chinese media, and it shows in a way that i find very frustrating when seeing discussions about cdramas on here. dangai dramas aside, even if government censorship didn't exist, the chances of your favorite cdrama gay ship becoming canon is about as high as the chances of any of those iconic homoerotic male friendships in a western TV show becoming canon. which is to say: extremely low.
what i think is that internationally huge danmei fandoms like mdzs and tgcf and drama adaptations like cql and shl have really fucked with people's conceptualization of danmei, in that they're using it as this reference point when analyzing relationships in all other forms of cn media, including cdramas and chinese games, which then manifests into people making very bold, very dubious claims about "queercoding" because 2 characters from a random cdrama reminds them of the one or two danmeis they'd encountered that shaped their entire perception of chinese media. basically it's this meme:
Tumblr media
many people here need to understand that cdramas and chinese films are obviously mainstream forms of fictional media in china, just like how the mcu or the doctor who franchise is mainstream in the US and UK, or like shonen is mainstream in japan. not to burst your bubble of happy ignorance, but homoromantic relationships such as qingming/boya from the ying yang master areā€”for lack of a better termā€”fujobait. they are fujobait. bromances, because those sell well and everyone knows it. popular ships like bakudeku were not actually made canon in mha because shonen is mainstream, and in most industries geared toward maximizing capital, having full-on gay people front and center is considered a monetarily risky move. which sucks, of course, but china is absolutely no different. i promise you that if the govt removed their censorship laws for TV broadcasts, your favorite gay ship from mysterious lotus casebook or the blood of youth or fangs of fortune still wouldn't be canon. they might be allowed a bit more intimacy due to the lack of restrictive filtering, but they are not going to be sucking face for the same reason that gojo and geto from jjk didn't suck face.
danmei is still widely considered niche and risky in china, and if you haven't seen the recent news, authors are still getting arrested for writing it. assuming that chinese fiction, mainstream chinese fiction in particular, operate like dangais where the two guys with the most gay tension would be made explicitly canon were the censors to be lifted, is frankly pretty ridiculous. dangai dramas are adapted from danmeis, which are stories centered on a gay romance and narratively depend on the two guys falling in love. non-dangai dramas are very much... not that, hence why people shouldn't watch them expecting a censored danmei and then forcing assumptions of "my ship would be canon if only it weren't for censorship" on them.
it's very clear when someone who knows absolutely nothing about the actual situation with danmei and queer existence and mainstream TV censorship in china is trying to push their, if i put it crudely, "boss baby meme" perspective onto cmedia. fandom is all about poking at interactions between your favorite characters and giggling and speculating, but i think lots of fandom people (many of them safe in the pockets of their more progressive areas) view govt censorship as this big abstract dam that, if broken, would result in the canonization of all their favorite ships, which is not only an incredibly naive belief but also one that shows how much they view TV censorship as more of a personal inconvenience that's preventing their favorite ships from kissing on screen instead of the looming, deep-rooted issue depriving mainland chinese people of creative freedom it actually is. with cmedia fandoms there's a specific widely popularized "they're so gay omg how did censorship not notice" gag when there's any perceived homoromantic undertones in a story that's both rather insensitive and also ignorant, and many dangai and cdrama fandoms in particular (donghua fans too, link click shippers i'm looking directly at you) could really use some more education and sensitivity regarding this.
i've been in danmei & cdrama fandom spaces for years and post-pandemic this kind of nonsense has definitely gotten worse, especially when you compare shipping discussions here to shipping discussions in cn fandoms. here every 2 seconds someone makes an off-color censorship joke about tgcf donghua and over on douyin they are straight up commenting under the nezha sequel announcement post if there's going to be an oubing kissing scene. granted i obviously cannot see or know everything going on in cn fandom spaces because they are incomprehensibly enormous, but in all the spaces i've been in i've never seen a single censorship joke from anyone. why do people here absolutely insist on making them?
anyway. fandom be normal about chinese media challenge!

I HAVE to address this MHA leak. This is getting out of hand. I think you guys may actually like this chapter if you pause and take a deep breath.
First, I rarely post about this kind of thing as I hate getting caught up in fandom drama- very few things take the enjoyment out of something quicker than people being pissy to each other (and to creators) because something didnā€™t go how you imagine.
BUT.
I need to say a few words in the defence of this new chapter, and I think there are a lot of really positive things going on that can be chalked up to character GROWTH and not character ASSASSINATION as everyone has been yelling about. Things that actually really tie up three really great characters in healthy ways, and in ways that also highlight the themes of moving forward and reaching out hands that the author has been pushing. Iā€™m not going to address Ochacoā€™s growth here, which is also good, but I need to discuss the Baku-Deku stuff.
Iā€™d like to preface all of the following with one important thing: when I read and watched MHA I never once incorporated SHIPPING into my enjoyment of these characters. It wasnā€™t the part of the text I was interested in. Did I think there were some cute moments between Izuku and Ochaco? Yep. But thatā€™s about as far as it went for me. I also fully expected from day one that they would end up together because thatā€™s how these kinds of stories in this genre go. I will also say that the character dynamics and growth between Izuku and Bakugo was something that is generally well done and a key aspect of why both those characters are so enjoyable for me-one of my favourite parts.
So, when I read these leaks, I actually found a bunch that I think tied up these characters really well.
Iā€™m going to start with the big elephant-in-the-room one that everyone has been freaking out over. The: ā€œIzuku would never turn down an offer to work in an agency with Bakugo thatā€™s just so not him and heā€™s awful and Iā€™ll never forgive himā€ thing that I just canā€™tā€¦understand why people are angry about. This is a GOOD thing.
One of the things I actually sort of critical about in the INITIAL ending was that Izuku seemed like he still wasnā€™t putting himself first. One of the things that especially Bakugo KNEW to be the case about Izuku was he ā€œnever thinks of himselfā€ and how self-destructive that was. We saw it time and time again- he was always sacrificing things for other people: his health, his time, even his QUIRK were sacrificed for OTHERS. He never put his own self-interest FIRST. He grew in strength, he grew and matured as a HERO, but part of saving people means also knowing how to save yourself.
The initial epilogue had this air of ā€˜heā€™s sacrificed something and heā€™s incomplete due to thatā€™. Others (Bakugo and class 1-A) stepped up to help him fill that hole with the suit, and that thematically worked, but there was still a gap there for Izukuā€™s growth. I think this chapter completes his arc in the best possible way. Izuku did something purely for himself. He LEARNED that last lesson he needed to learn. AND he did it by ALSO helping Bakugo learn a lesson too.
Bakugo offers, in sort of a round about way, for Izuku to join his agency as a sidekick. Heā€™s turned down other sidekicks because they thought he was amazing and wanted to be in his shadow. He wanted a sidekick that would say they would ā€˜surpassā€™ him. For Bakugo that has always been what he admired (and sometimes resented) about Izuku- Izuku wasnā€™t afraid to say that he would push himself to be better than Bakugo, and in doing so they both made themselves stronger.
But Iā€™d argue that this rivalry was an endless cycle for both of these characters- not an opportunity for them to change how they saw each other. Izuku would surpass Bakugo and Bakugo would work to surpass Izuku on and on for eternity. Bakugo even mentions this in the hospital- that he hoped they would get to compete with each other ā€œfor the rest of their livesā€. BUT that would also mean they would NEVER be more than rivals to each other.
When Izuku turns down Bakugoā€™s offer to be his sidekick, Izuku ISNā€™T saying ā€œno, I donā€™t value you or what you did for me with the suitā€. Heā€™s saying, ā€œI know what you did for me and Iā€™m thankful for you, but I have to make my own choices separate from you.ā€ Izuku is NOT Bakugoā€™s sidekick, or vice versa. They are adults that should have their own separate goals and lives. And, in a way, heā€™s also telling Bakugo, ā€œyou are your OWN person. You donā€™t need ME to be stronger. Keep pushing yourself forward on your OWN terms.ā€
And thatā€™s the thing about Bakugo- from day one his growth has been DEFINED by Izuku. Heā€™s pushed himself forward almost entirely because of how he sees Izuku, as a rival and, in some cases, as someone who he has to constantly try to live up to. That isnā€™t particularly HEALTHY. Bakugo sacrificed his LIFE to ā€œcatch up to Izuku.ā€ Like, great acknowledgement of Izukuā€™s ability and moving on from being a bully, but not a physically healthy thing to do. There were a couple things about the initial epilogue that made me a little edgy because while Bakugo grieved the loss of OFA almost more than Izuku did (which was growth, and interesting growth), then worked tirelessly to get Izuku the suit, he did it because he wanted Izuku to keep being his RIVAL.
When Izuku turned down the offer to be his sidekick, but in the same scene also says he canā€™t wait to work as a hero again with his friends and see Bakugo MORE OFTEN as a guest lecturer in his Hero classes (which like, I donā€™t see why people are pissed about since thatā€™s literally one of the biggest fanfic ideas people have been writing about since chapter 430 dropped), it actually shows how much more GROWN UP these two ARE. Izuku is acknowledging Bakugo as not only an EQUAL (not someone to chase after), but also a FRIEND. Someone he looks forward to seeing and working with. In fact, Bakugo saying ā€œsee youā€ isnā€™t a goodbye. Itā€™s a PROMISE.
The panels of Izuku walking away are actual true character growth for BOTH of them. Izuku putting himself and his choices first, and Bakugo, for the first actual time in the ENTIRE SERIES feels like he doesnā€™t have to chase after Izuku. He can let themselves walk their own paths!
And, because the writing is actually better than you guys are giving it credit for, this choice actually does give them opportunity to still compete because Izuku will be on the chart now as an independent agent (because remember heā€™s not rejecting the suit and hero work, heā€™s incorporating hero work into a teaching career heā€™s ALSO grown to love and is good at). So now, as Izuku starts climbing the charts on his own (which he will because itā€™s Izuku weā€™re talking about), they can still push each other forward ANYWAY so likeā€¦thatā€™s a GOOD thing. Itā€™s like having your cake and eating it too, for BOTH of them.
Take off the shipper hats for a moment. And really LOOK at this scene. Is it kind of sad they wonā€™t work together every day? Maybe. Does it mean they are growing apart and will never see each other? NO. They are closer than ever because now they are EQUALS and FRIENDS- neither is ahead of the other.

Bakugou Plays Stardew Valley
Tumblr media
| Masterlist | The Bakusquad Gaming Group Masterlist | | Previous | Next | ā™” Genre: Fluff ā™” Pairing: Gamer!Bakugou x Gamer!Reader ā™” Tags: Crossover (MHA x multiple franchises), gaming AU, Quirkless AU, aged up (Any gaming crossover chapters will be skippable if you don't recognize the franchise. Tumblr media
Stardew Valley didn't appear on Bakugou's radar until you convinced him to give it a shot (at least for your sake).
You two would work as farmers on Bakugou's rundown field, trying to restore the land as per his in-game dead grandpa's wishes. Both you and Bakugou designed your farmers' appearances after your real life selves and you found it so cute to see Bakugou in his true pixel form.
At first, you two walked everywhere together at your unbelievably slow pace. While Bakugou went around buying seeds and foraging, all you wanted to do was greet all the cold, hostile villagers. For obvious reasons, Bakugou hated that idea.
"But we need to get started on romancing someone," you said, following Bakugou across town. "We might as well pick a villager we wanna marry for the sake of pleasing your dead grandfather's wishes."
Bakugou's farmer stopped to glare yours down in-game. "I donā€™t want any of those stinking villagers on our farm! Donā€™t go marrying any of them. I donā€™t care about their heart events, I donā€™t care about their birthdays, and I donā€™t give a fuck about not having enough hearts for the Flower Dance. Iā€™m not here to make friends.ā€
Bakugou started heading back towards the farm again, and you followed.
ā€œBut we need to get married for a good endgame rating!ā€ you protested.
ā€œWellā€¦ I got you, donā€™t I?ā€
You were too frantically aware that you both were on a livestream, where everyone could see your reaction to his comment.
ā€œBakugou," you cried, "you can't just propose to me on stream like that!ā€
"It's a VIDEO GAME! And I'm not proposing to you yet." His character faced yours. "Wait until I get you a ring. Then you'll see."
"Bakugou!"
You couldn't believe what you saw on his facecam. Bakugou was grinning like a madman. This would only fan the flames of the shipping fanbase that was already brewing in your fanbases, but right now you were more concerned with his reaction than theirs.
During a stream break sometime later, Bakugou pulled you aside for a phone call to talk about what happened.
"You okay with that?" Bakugou asked. "With the marriage shit? We didn't discuss this shit enough beforehand, but I don't wanna pressure you into doing anything you don't wanna do."
You were so relieved he asked first. Truth be told, you wanted to broach the topic yourself but felt nervous.
"...I'm okay if it's you," you admitted, thankful he couldn't see your embarrassed face over the phone. "I mean, I really don't wanna get a worse endgame rating if we don't marry someone, so it only makes sense that we marry each other... Plus, I think it'd be fun to roleplay as a married couple for the sake of the stream. I wanna see all your heart events!"
"You have to woo me first for that," he said, and you could just imagine his eager grin on the other side of the phone call. "But if ya ever change your mind and feel uncomfortable, fucking hit me in-game or something and I'll stop."
"I'm not doing that!"
From then on, you and Bakugou fell into a fine routine, slowly feeling out your in-game relationship. Bakugou decided to gradually raise your affection levels like he would with any NPC, gifting you items twice a week. Sometimes he found the perfect gift and he'd have to chase you down just to give it to you while you went about your daily tasks. Other times, he brought you gifts you didn't need and cursed himself for getting it in the first place. You accepted it out of politeness and thanked him, but for Bakugou it wasn't enough.
"You're out of space?!" Bakugou said, his farmer holding a flower above his head smack dab in the middle of town. "Dammit!"
"Oh c'mon, it's okay." Your pink farmer sidled up to his. "I still appreciate the thought!"
"No, no, don't pity me. I'll do better. I'm gonna get you something that'll knock your goddamn socks off. Something that won't just sit in storage all day."
He ended up interrogating you for your 'loved gifts', which included an item rarely found early into the game, a pink cake. Although you warned him it would be hard to find and hard to justify buying even if he did find it, Bakugou still took to the challenge out of sheer spite at being told he couldn't. By dumb luck, he was able to buy it at the saloon sometime later and handed it to you, having saved up the money for it. For him, it was all worth it just to see the joy and shock on your face. His eyes were glued to your face cam visible on his monitor while you squealed out of happiness.
You also gave Bakugou many gifts in return to 'woo' him, even though you had no idea what items he liked. At first you started off with romantic flowers, then you progressed to useful minerals, and finally you just gave him stones to see if he'd still take it. He did, and he thanked you, and then he used your slingshot to shoot the stones at Alex, the town jock who flirted with you last week. Bakugou just wasn't the forgiving type.
Although you were often forced to split up to get everything done, you and Bakugou still made time to do things together in-game. For example, you only entered the mines if Bakugou was there to defend you from the terrifying monsters that lurked beneath. And you attended every festival together, with Bakugou accompanying you as a scary guard dog while you chatted up all the villagers. Every time you two shared quality time together, you called it a heart event. Bakugou didn't reject the idea, but he did call you a sap.
Eventually, you two started accumulating a number of furniture items and you both thought about upgrading your houses. But you couldn't really financially justify the cost.
"Since we're already planning on getting married, why don't we just live together now?" you asked, while visiting his house first thing in the morning. "It'd be easier to only have to upgrade one house instead of two."
"That much was obvious," Bakugou said. "But if you wanna do it sooner than later, I sure as hell won't stop ya."
"...What about the beds?" you asked, while checking out his home. "With all our stuff, there's only room for one..."
"It's just pixels! It's fine if we sleep in the same area. It's only practical!"
"Yeah... practical!"
Or so you told yourself.
And so, you two lived in the same farmhouse together and woke up to each other every single day with much, much awkwardness. Your chat had a riot the first time it happened, with some of them saying their fanfics had finally come true.
"Fanfics?" you asked, your eyes squinting at the chat displayed on one of your monitors. "What fanfics?"
"I don't even wanna fucking know." Bakugou sweated a little.
But despite the awkwardness, Bakugou never asked you to leave. Sometimes he even told you to rush home so you'd sleep together instead of seeing you pass out at 2 AM.
"We need you at full energy tomorrow, so you have to go to bed!" Bakugou said, while your slow pink farmer speedwalked back home. "From now on, you can't just pass out anywhere you want! We have to sleep together!"
"Phrasing, Bakugou, phrasing!"
Now Bakugou was hellbent on making sure you two woke up to each other every morning as per your decided routine. He kept justifying it by saying that sleeping at appropriate times was necessary for keeping your stamina levels high for the following morning, but the chat refused to believe it.
"he wants to wake up to you?" a chat member remarked. "for every day of his life???"
"You really are a clingy guy, huh?" Your cute farmer faced his in your shared bed.
"I wouldn't have to fucking cling if you'd just stay put," Bakugou pouted.
Eventually, you started unlocking more and more heart events with other villagers and this pissed Bakugou off. The chat accused the villagers of being "homewreckers" for flirting with you once they grew closer to you. For example, one boy named Sebastian offered to take you on a private ride on his motorcycle and Bakugou was livid.
"This nerd needs to back the fuck off," Bakugou said, standing right beside you outside Sebastian's room.
"He's just a friend, Bakugou!"
"HE'S NOT INVITED TO OUR WEDDING!"
The chat encouraged you to encounter more heart events with the other villagers, just to see each and every one of them try and steal you from Bakugou. They loved watching him grow jealous, because they thought it was further proof of his love. One girl named Abigail sent you a letter inviting you to her place late at night and Bakugou strictly forbid you from going. The chat had to spoil the fact that the event wouldn't include anything risquƩ for him to even accept this near declaration of war.
Fortunately, you and Bakugou soon got married in-game. Bakugou hoped that the villagers would now back off from flirting, but you knew their old lines would still be hardcoded into the game. Your chat members celebrated with many donations and congratulations, to which you and Bakugou gave each other the side-eye.
This romance was still fictional, right?
You both pretended to do all these romantic in-game activities to entertain the chat as well to get a better endgame rating, but deep down you wished you could have a little bit of this in real life!
After you two "finished" the game and had your farm positively rated by Bakugou's grandpa, the Stardew streams finally came to a close. You missed the game already and you could've continued, but you both felt this was a good enough ending to your file.
The weekend after, you hoped to hang out again with Bakugou outside of streaming, and you still couldn't get Stardew out of your mind. Your fanbases kept posting fanart of your Stardew playthrough, which helped keep all the memories fresh. Many of their fanarts depicted you two together side-by-side, and you loved looking at Bakugou in all their different art styles. You'd have to talk to him about the shipping though, at some point... It was really getting out of hand.
Bakugou was also still thinking about your past streams, though he had something different in mind when you showed up to his apartment one day.
"Bakugou! Where are we going?"
Bakugou covered your eyes from behind and led you a short ways forward. You must've been around his kitchen by this point.
"Hold on," Bakugou said. He turned you to face a specific direction. "I'm gonna remove my hands."
"Bakugou, what--"
There was a pink cake waiting for you on his kitchen counter, looking exactly like its in-game counterpart.
"Since we're staying at my apartment today, thought you'd get hungry at some point." Bakugou looked smug as hell. "Ya like it?"
"Like it? I love it! This is so, so, so cool!" You threw your arms around him and squeezed, and his arms wrapped around you in turn.
"Learned from you, actually," he said. "Like those videos where you bake fictional food."
You released him from your hug and bumped your hip against his. "Almost forgot you were my biggest fan!"
"Quit talking and eat. I didn't ask for any silly little comments!"
"Well you're getting some!"
You and Bakugou spent the rest of the day hanging around his living room, eating his food, and watching other Bakusquad member's streams of Stardew Valley on his laptop. All of them ended up romancing NPCs, and your streams were the only ones where someone married another player. You suddenly became far too aware of how close Bakugou was to you on the couch. While watching Kaminari's in-game wedding, you caught each other's eyes and quickly looked away. You wanted to discuss this, but you didn't know how.
"Do you regret it?" You wore a teasing small smile. "You regret being married to me?"
"Hell no," Bakugou said, his face somewhat red. "You better not be asking 'cause you regret it now yourself."
"Of course not! I was only wondering." You mindlessly played with your food. "After all, you've probably seen what the chat members are saying about our 'relationship'..."
"Hey. Look at me."
You looked up from your food to see Bakugou grinning once again.
"Let them think whatever they want."

oh and in celebration of the emerald wirch arc anime coming out next year, i have some tips for the new black butler fans!! or old if they apply to you lol
ALWAYS read the manga first.
the anime deviates so far from the manga that season 2 can't even be considered canon. im not even joking here. after the second half of s1, the animators just pulled shit out of their rears and called it a day. they didn't pull it together until book of circus, but to anyone who had watched the anime before reading the manga, the story made zero sense. i watched the series three times trying to understand it but it wasn't anything but crack until i read the manga.
if you can't buy the manga, read it on mangakakalot.com or mangareader.to, but PLEASE read it before watching.
sebaciel is (somewhat) canon, heavily implied at times, but so are lots of ships, so for the love of god please don't hate on shippers
yana toboso, the writer, has admitted that kuroshitsuji was originally intended to be a yaoi, but her publishers warned her against it. (ā† im told that's a rumor) there were still some sebaciel-esque scenes in the manga, so be warned! but there are also other implied ships (which is basically the entirety of s2), so suffice to say there are bound to be lots of ship wars. please don't turn the kuroshitsuji fandom into another mha fandom šŸ˜
if you're sensitive to proship content, especially adult Ɨ child, STEER CLEAR of black butler.
while an argument may be made that it's not technically a proship since pedophilia isn't a crime in japan or since it's a human Ɨ nonhuman, therefore age gap rules aren't as cut and dry as they would be otherwise, sebastian is still portrayed as an adult and ngl it can be kind of triggering for victims of this kind of thing, and just icky in general if you don't know to expect it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pay heed to the content warnings, not the actual rating.
some streaming services say that kuroshitsuji is tv14. TRUST ME. it's not. here's a full list of content warnings:
severe violence
lots of sexual themes including rape, not once but TWICE (in the anime, only once in the manga) by sebastian, and pedophilia
intense gore
there is a character who is somewhat minorly important who is a lolicon (duke whatever his name was)
deals with themes including cults, rejection of the christian faith, demons, rituals, supernatural phenomena, and generally disturbing stuff. for crying out loud a TWELVE YEAR OLD kid has summoned a demon servant, is a major underworld crime god, and has survived some major cult shit.
language is pretty bad
cults
arson
murder
murder
murder
mafia/underworld crime/organized crime
organized extreme abuse/ritual abuse, mind control, organized abuse, etc. is a MAJOR theme. it's basically the precursor to the entire series and is heavily discussed and shown. please please please don't get into it if you're triggered by that, ESPECIALLY if you're a victim/potentially a victim and healing. nobody would want you to uncover memories or harm yourself because of the series. stay safe!!!
one of the character's main things is he's basically obsessed with stepcest (lao)
lao is also a drug dealer
oh yeah, drugs and drugs and drugs and drugs andā€“
arranged marriages for kids (ciel and lizzy)
the second season (say what you will about it but i enjoyed it) had a LOT of torture and mindbreak over some dumb shit and was generally really really disturbing, objectively more so than the first season. we're talking waterboarding (i think is what it's called? correct me NICELY if im wrong) and making the mc's relive their trauma to achieve a certain goal.
also the second season deals with twice as much pedophilia, arson, demons, and murder since the second mc (alois trancy) is basically ciel phantomhive but blonde and a lot gayer (olƩ!)
stalking
lots and lots of murder
it's a horror series, what do you expect
both explicit and implicit sex scenes aplenty
manipulation, mindbreak, and abuse
there's a whole jack the ripper arc and it is MESSY
it's bad at the start and only gets worse! please please please only get involved with kuroshitsuji if you can handle that!
both the manga and anime are ongoing, so don't treat it as a one and done!
yana paused production of the manga to work on a game called twisted wonderland (edit: and apparently to focus on bb too? dunno how that works) , but more chapters and arcs are expected, and the series is far from over despite starting over a decade ago! i reread and rewatch every now and then to stay updated (and because it's a great series)! while i realize that can be a bit of a task, trust me when i say it's worth it!!
lastly, have fun with it!!!
kuroshitsuji fandom has been dying. REVIVE IT!! engage with fan works! cosplay! talk to other fans! make friends! convert people to the dark side!! be down bad!! be weird, be cringe!!! do whatever as long as it isnt toxic!!!
