Okay. I'm in the middle of my Xena rewatch, and I'm on A Family Affair, and can we talk about the scene where Xena meets Gabrielle's parents?

Xena: So, how's she been?

Gabs' dad: Without you? Just fine.

Xena: I meant, after everything she's been through.

Gabs' dad: You should know. Seducing her away from home with your heroics, filling her head with strange ideas. How's she been? Changed forever.

Like! This is the most obvious metaphor for a parent/family that can't accept their gay kid, and by extension, their gay kids' partner. And I think it's really well executed. It hits close to home, but it feels like the person writing it gets it. Y'know. Which, given that Liz Friedman co-wrote this, tracks. She knew what the fuck she was doing here and it's so well done.

Anyway, I needed to just simply gush lightly about it. I will literally never get over the fact that this show portrays both the joys and the hardships of a lesbian relationship better than more explicit shows today. I'll never get over it!

Playing COM for the first time. Really interesting! They keep bringing up the message of "be honest about your feelings, tell people you care".

They keep bringing it up, and dialogue like this isn't in the original Disney movies (I think), so it sticks out every time, so I thought I'd take notes every time they do this. Honestly, it's a really sweet message!

And then the game keeps bashing you in the head with a stick about how Riku believes Sora doesn't care for him. 😂 which, he obviously does. Brother, just talk to each other already! Be honest!! Lmaoooo, man, I love this melodrama

I'm obsessed with that GIANT gold watch Eddie's wearing at the poker game. The least Eddie Diaz choice I can possibly imagine.

Like, I know they're almost certainly undercover, which makes it even more exciting! Because it gives the brilliant costume team so much more creative leeway to tell their story. They don't have to work within the confines of — let's be honest — Eddie's boring ass wardrobe.

So, Eddie vs Time and that big gold watch? I know you have thoughts. (Don't even get me started on him wearing blue and green...)

I too am feeling some kind of way about the blingy giant gold watch that is the furthest thing from Eddie you could possibly get! I'm also feeling a bit insane about how much fun the costume team will have got to have in dressing them this way and they chose to go to town on Eddie and turn Eddie into a model (no wonder Buck is looking at him like that!!)!

I am very much with you on the whole Eddie and time metaphor being at play here and my current feeling is that its signalling a couple of things. We've seen a lot of time metaphors at play so far this season - especially focused on watches and watch faces, so this one very likely fits into the pattern.

Firstly, and primarily its about telling the audience that time is important - there are multiple signals here - not just the obvious Buddie one, but also possibly that time is running out for Bobbys investigation (or even for those being investigated because the firefam are onto them).

Then there is the fact that generally speaking big blingy gold watches are indicators of luxury, wealth and success - probably all things the Eddie is trying to convey for whatever reason they're at the poker game in the first place. If it is connected to Bobbys investigation then its telling us that it will be a success, but 911 loves layering so there will be more than one meaning and theme at play here - obviously without the full context it's impossible to be sure, but let's say they are playing boyfriends for whatever reason, then those concepts of luxury, wealth and success also applies to the Buddie of it all. Its saying that this time will be successful, that it will be the thing that brings wealth (because wealth isn't all about money its also about happiness and fulfilment in life) to Eddies life (and Bucks of course) and that being true to himself and who he is and what he wants will give him the luxury of time to enjoy it.

Am I reading far too much into a watch being worn while probably undercover - quite possibly, am I having the time of my life doing so - very definitely!
