"Sigils that Beckon Death" by Elysian Blaze (epic atmospheric black/doom metal---nothing else like it)

"The Usher" by Subrosa (really unique fem fronted doom metal)

"Sterile Nails and Thunderbowels" by Deadmoon (this is a cover of the black metal classic by Silencer, and it's better than the original)

"The Sunset of Life" by Austere (first album from this band in 15 years, and they've always done an amazing mix of atmospheric and depressive black metal)

"Searching for Artificial Happiness" by Ashes You Leave (really obscure and underrated gothic doom metal from the late 90s; this particular song has some really poetic lyrics despite the language barrier)

Some irresponsible owners will tell you that a domesticated metalhead can thrive on a diet of nu metal and metalcore - this is not true! Make sure your metalhead is getting plenty of thrash, doom, and death metal, it's necessary for their development.

They require VERY specific care & are NOT a light commitment!!

They need to be brushed DAILY (sometimes more!)

They need to be taken to gigs on a regular basis.

Their enrichment items can get VERY expensive 🎸🥁🎤

They need plenty of space to headbang.

They are LOUD. Don't even think about getting one if you live in an apartment, your neighbors will not thank you.

They CANNOT be pop-trained. There are ones that like it but you can't force that- it's not typical behavior for them.

YES they can make very loyal companions. YES they look like a lot of fun.

BUT they will get very grouchy if not looked after properly!! Think before you buy & do NOT get them from a breeder jfc don't even get me started. Metalheads should only ever be bred for recreational purposes, not profit.

Not to derail the post, but also - masculinity isn't boring!!! Masculine style and fashion isn't boring!! At least, it doesn't have to be. If khakis and a nice blue button down float your boat, by all means, revel in that! But having spent the past couple years of my life actively involved in my local punk and metal scenes, I have had the joy of befriending so many punk and metalhead men/mascs who are absolute goddamn beautiful peacocks. I'm talking hours and hours spent on neon-colored liberty spikes, elaborately decorating battle vests with studs and spikes and patches, making jewelry out of steel chains or tin cans. Masc fashion does not have to be boring, or lack flair or sparkle. You can be the manliest bro to ever dude and still enjoy being flashy and colorful with your sartorial choices!

You can tell how much lesbians and trans men are ignored within the queer community when queerness is associated with pink and glitter. There's no room for us boring, dull, masculine queers, in fact we are traitors meanwhile straight women are "one of the girls"

I saw your latest drawing and since we're both metalheads I would like to offer you some recommendations. Listen to "bring me victory" by My Dying Bride, "obscured" by Celtic Frost and "my salvation" and "ancestral whispers" by Sakis Tolis (the vocalist for a well-known greek black metal band)

I LOVE My Dying Bride! Been listening to them for almost 20 years. That Celtic Frost album is one of my favorites of theirs as well. Omg it seems you have great taste. Gothic, doom, and black metal are some of my favorite subgenres. I'll post links to these tracks for other people to check out too! I totally listen to angsty metal while drawing.
