ACTUALLY FUCK IT HERE IS THE WHOLE DUNGEON MESHI MUSIC HEADCANON MASTERLIST!!!!
All of these are my opinions only and I welcome people to add their own🫡
Laios - Likes whatever he listens to on the top 50 pop radio. Mentioned he liked Taylor swift to Marcille once and she’s been pestering him about it ever since.
Falin - Old Country/Cowboy music. Makes her feel like a horse (good thing)
Marcille - swiftie but if someone would put her on some SOPHIE her life would change. Really trying to get Laios to get more into Taylor Swift and leave the realm of “casual”
Chilchuck - big metal fan. he’s a white dad you know what’s up. Makes people listen to Messhugah in the car
Senshi - the beautiful sounds of birds in trees in the morning. Doesn’t listen to music.
Izutsumi - Only listens to video game soundtracks. Can’t imagine sitting down and just listening to music without anything else. Prefers rhythm game music
Namari - identical music taste to chilchuck. Kind of freaks her out that her music taste is the same as a middle aged father’s
Toshiro - For someone who doesn’t even say swear words at the ripe age of 27, he’s into hip hop and rap. He’s very secretive about it, though, since he’s trying to keep up this ‘proper and princely’ facade.
Kabru - Arianator (hardcore). Likes to listen to everything, though. Laios once said he liked Ariana and Kabru’s been fighting a war with Marcille ever since in the struggle to get him to choose one pop girlie to commit to.
Mithrun - In his past he didn’t really like any music artists and listened to music on mute in order to make interesting Spotify wrappeds. Now he likes harsh noise
Thistle - big classical music fan and also is the number one elitist of all time. Genuinely such an asshole about music and music theory.

hi! could you write some general hc for Jeff and Toby? Also could you talk about more about your canon plsss?
✧.* gen jeff and toby headcanons
-aaa of course !! i love jeff and toby so much
for my canon, I like to think that i just kind of make the characters more real. For most of their original canon stories, or for the fanon versions of them, their characters are made to be just killing machines with a little bit of angst and the story of whatever caused it. I base them off my favourite versions of their stories (or combine), but i give them flaws and little quirks that make them into an actual character rather than a person. I also try to write in how they are all traumatized people because thats usually brushed off. I wouldn't mind going into more detail if you'd like :3
jeff the killer
incredibly close with liu before everything went down, now he just feels guilty being around him
hardcore metal and punk fan. Screeching Weasel, Benighted, To The Grave. stuff like that
Has night terrors. Rooms with Ben because he's the only one who can calm him down when he awakes.
Soft spot for animals (usually prefers cats but doesn't say anything to Smile)
Grew up in a very strict catholic family
Is the self-proclaimed "white boy" of the mansion but is hispanic
Pushes his emotions away until something really triggers him
When he finally gets triggered, it does not end well
Full breakdowns. Rage, Depression. He goes through all of it in the span of like 2 days.
Everyone gives him space except Ben
No mirrors in his room. Avoids ones outside
phantom pain from the burns
he looks absolutely atrocious. Probably the worst of all the creeps but to be fair he went through severe body trauma
For a grown man, he's on the skinner side
still really fucking strong though
Can't sleep without noise. One of the reasons he rooms with Ben so much bc hes loud
Messy room. Does not clean, does not know where anything is
only really uses the top of his face to show emotion because he's scared of re-opening his mouth scars
He would spend hundreds of dollars at bath and body works but all the scents he picks up would clash so badly
the kind of guy to say no when someone asks for something but then get 3 of it
listens to british rap unironically
toby rogers
mentioned before, but hates waffles. Any classic breakfast food he dislikes but those are the worst
a collector. His room is filled with small little trinkets he's picked up. Has a rock or button collection
Probably the worst of the creeps emotionally
Was raised in a pretty toxic environment.. Never learned how to manage his emotions. Has too many of them and they change too often so he kind of just. explodes
Usually extreme rage or goes nonverbal
is autistic idc
very ! bad ! ptsd
nervous around male authoritative figures
initially refused to eat at the dinner table since it was a requirement of his fathers, but is getting better at it
soft spot for kids, will let sally dress him up and do his makeup
religious guilt though he was never religious
finds EJ to be very good company, he enjoys the atmosphere
speaking of EJ, he taught Toby a lot of medical care since he's not always available
sleeps on the floor pretty often
kind of an asshole sometimes
master of sarcasm tbh

Most emo genres, mall emo/mallcore, scene and scenecore explained i guess
I've seen a lot of people online argue over what "real emo" is and how it's different from "mallcore" and the "is x emo" questions a lot. So I decided to make this post explaining emo genres, the waves of emo, emo culture in general and scene and scenecore stuff. (This is gonna be a long read)
Note: I am NOT claiming to be a scribe on all things emo/scene!!! This is just me trying to explain it from all the knowledge and research I've done. And my weird music autism too. I might get some stuff wrong potentially.
EMO SUBGENRES
Before we begin, I need to specify that emo as a genre has evolved a lot since its inception and varies from band to band, and subgenre to subgenre. This genre has been influenced by hardcore punk, post-hardcore, alternative rock, indie-rock, and even pop punk.
Emo (as in the blanket genre and all of its subgenres) include sincere expression of emotions (emo is literally short for emotional) musically and lyrically, melodic songwriting, and highly expressive and passionate vocals.
EMOCORE
aka Emotional Hardcore. This is the ORIGINAL emo genre. Starting all the way back in the early-ish to middish 80s in Washington D.C. as an offshoot of Post-Hardcore and is also a response to the Hardcore Punk scene growing stagnant.
Emocore toned down the aggressiveness of hardcore punk and put more melodic empathetic along, shouted vocals and fast distorted guitars on midtempos to focus on melodies and dynamics. And of course the emotional, introverted, introspective lyrics.
Bands defined as Emocore are: Rites of Spring, Moss Icon, Embrace, Dag Nasty, Etc
MIDWEST EMO
aka Indie Emo or Post-Emo Indie Rock. Starting in the mid-90s, Midwest Emo combined Seattle's indie rock/alternative rock scene with post-hardcore and emocore music from D.C. The creation of this genre is typically credited to Sunny Day Real Estate from Seattle.
Midwest Emo features alternating loud and soft dynamics, strained and off-key (almost whiny sounding) vocals, and that classic "twinkly" guitar sound. This sub-genre mostly got its name due to a shit ton of bands coming from midwest cities and just middle of bumb-fuck no where midwest eras as well.
Bands defined as Midwest Emo are: Sunny Day Real Estate, American Football, Cap'n Jazz, Jimmy Eat World, etc.
SKRAMZ/SCREAMO
Started in the early 90s in California, Screamo (also called Skramz) is an offshoot of emo that takes emo's emotional nature and melodic guitars and combines them with the speed, intensity, and aggression of hardcore punk. Skramz also took the abrasiveness of noise rock and has an unconventional structure like math rock, with frequent changes in rhythm and tempo.
There was later influence with math rock, mathcore, post-rock, sludge metal, post-metal, and powerviolence. The powerviolence got so strong it even birthed an entire sub-sub genre of emoviolence. Screamo during the 2000s slowly transitioned into being called Skramz due to several post-hardcore and melodic hardcore bands being mislabelled as Screamo.
Bands defined as Screamo/Skramz are: Orchid, February, Gospel, Celeste, etc
EMO-POP
aka Emo Pop Punk. Emo-Pop is a fusion genre of Emo and Pop Punk, and is also the most mainstream, popular, and pop friendly form of emo. Starting back in the 90s, Emo-Pop can be traced back to Midwest Emo bands like Jimmy Eat World.
With Alternative Rock as its base and possessing the hooks, verse-chorus-verse structure, fast moving energy, and clean studio production of pop punk, Emo-Pop's success in the 2000's was destined with its confessional lyrics detail love, loss, heartbreak, and angst. And although greatly separated from its Emocore roots, much of Emo-Pop had Post-Hardcore influence as well.
Several Emo-Pop bands include: Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Early Brand New, Most of pre-hiatus Fall Out Boy, Fever-era Panic! At the Disco, etc
The "waves" of emo
So as you can see, there were several very different genres of emo that had their own periods of time and that developed into the emo "waves", which there are five of. They span from 1985 to the modern day. Besides the first wave, the start and end dates for the waves are wish-y wash-y, especially considering most genres still continued chugging on during the waves while one specific one got the limelight.
1st Wave Emo
1985 to 1991-ish. This is Emocore at its peak. Washington D.C.'s own "Revolution Summer" was it was called. This era leaned more into the hardcore stuff while having the artsy poetic stuff scare away the bad people
2nd Wave Emo
1992-ish to 2001-ish. 2nd wave is the most important and influence of all the waves of emo, influencing the 3rd, 4th, and 5th waves of emo. This wave had Skramz/Screamo in its early days while Midwest Emo was the most prominent. Emocore was still going and spreading outside of D.C., causing the rest of emo history.
3rd Wave Emo
2002-ish to 2008-sh. The most well known emo wave. This was when Emo-Pop was kinda everywhere and when that "emo look" formed. The swoopy bangs, the eyeliner, the black band Ts. 2000s emo. MySpace, Warped Tour, Hot Topic was seen as the shit. Mall Emo, basically as its called now. Midwest Emo, Screamo, and Emocore were going along as well (besides Screamo now being called Skramz). Jimmy Eat World also blew the fuck up in this era as an Emo-Pop group.
4th Wave Emo
2009-ish to 2018-ish. Most of the aesthetic "mall emo" choices of 3rd were dropped. A Midwest Emo revival is probably the most notable part of this, Emo-Pop was still going but had heavy Midwest Emo influences. And if there were any Midwest Emo influences, your emo albums had heavy Indie and Alternative rock influences.
5th Wave Emo
2018-ish to now. Very similar to 4th, but separates itselfs due to lacking the heavy Midwest Emo influence. It still has a lot of the Indie Rock and Alternative Rock influence, but now has a lot of Slacker Rock and Noise Pop stuff too. 5th Wave is also noted for being more diverse, featuring many more people of color, openly queer people, and a lot more women as well.
Mall Emo & Mallcore
As stated previously, Mall Emo are the emos from the 3rd wave of emo, it's just the emo kids. Mallcore is typically referred to as the bands that all 3rd wave emos liked, including those that weren't emo-pop. It's just 2000s emo kid music. BandS with merch in Hot Topic and Spencers basically.
A lot of these bands were usually Pop Punk, Power Pop, Post-Hardcore, Alternative Rock, some Alt Metal, and probably even more. A lot of those bands are Evanescence, Green Day, Pierce the Veil, Bring Me The Horizon, 30 Seconds To Mars, etc
It should be noted that while Mall Emo and Mallcore are used to differentiate 2000s emo from the other variants, i've seen some trying to using negatively like an insult towards 2000s emos/anything related to third wave emo. Typically used by people in the Emocore, Skramz/Screamo, Midwest Emo, and even 4th Wave Emo scene that really DIDN'T/ currently DON'T like the 3rd wave kids and didn't want to be associated with them. It's basically just the Trad Goth v Mall Goth of the 1990s but for emos in the 2000s to the present. Just a lot of emo elitism/emo purism for some reason over not liking 3rd wave emo (and not considering a lot of mall emos did/do actually listen to 1st, 2nd, and 4th wave emo and skramz).
EMO CULTURE/FASHION
This is gonna be short. Emo culture through the different eras isn't as differnt as people from each wave want to believe tbh. The mosh pits, the expressing yourself via lyrics, its all in every era tbh.
And when it comes to emo fashion its.....interesting. Everyone knows the third wave emo fashion; dyed black hair, swooped bangs, black band ts, skinny jeans (usually ripped), studded belts, eyeliner. The whole doodah y'know.
But there WAS fashion trends for 90s emos. A lot of it was very laid back casual stuff, they all kinda looked like poor college students or 90s skater kids or even the stereotypical 90s geek. Striped shirts, small sweaters, sneakers, some had baggy pants, etc.
BUT the studded belts, braclets, and even the dyed black hair was there in the 90s too, even the tight jeans and tight shirt also later showed up in the 90s before 2nd wave emo "ended". Even the teased stereotypical emo boy haircut started in the skramz scene in the 90s as well.
Honestly, as much as people want to say that "real emo" and "mall emo" are different, they very much have stuff in common. if not in which genre of emo, then at least in some parts of fashion and culture. 3rd wave literally just took the tight shirts, tight pants, dyed hair, studded belts and bracelets of the 2nd wave and took some small make-up influence from 90s mall goths along with their love of Hot Topic.
SCENE
The "tye-dye emos" as I've heard someone call them. Scene is an offshoot of the 3rd wave emo subculture, which is why some scene kids called themselves emo back in the 2000s. Its kinda a requirement honestly. Their name comes from the fact scene kids were heavily involved in the music and rave scene (Warped Tour, mosh pits, you name it).
The music scene kids typical listened to leaned more electronic. Genres such as crunkcore (a fusion of the nightclub base hip hop genre Crunk, dance music, electronic music, and pop), electronicore, and a lot more club music and pop oriented music (like electropop). Along with more punk/metal stuff like metalcore, alt metal, deathcore, post-hardcore, neon pop punk, and some happy hardcore.
Due how varying a lot of the music scene kids listened to, a lot of scene kids sound VERY different. Though a common theme they had in some type electronic dance music combining with hardcore or pop punk.
Scene bands include: Metro Station, Breathe Carolina, Millionaires, Cobra Starship, Never Shout Never, and many, MANY more.
It also be noted that for scene fashion, there's a BIG difference between pre-2007 and post-2007 scene. Pre-2007 was more closer to 2000s emo, all dark while posr-2007 is more recognizable bright leon colors, shit ton of accessories, and raccoon eye make-up scene.
SCENECORE
Scenecore is both an aesthetic based off of scene fashion and also a genre of music. It seems to mostly be more about the aesthetics in both scenecore fashion and scenecore music.
A lot of genres of scenecore music are hyperpop, dance-pop, electropop, and happy hardcore. Scenecore has become so prevelant in hyperpop that a sub-genre of hyperpop was formed named after the scenecore aesthetic.
Artist that are considered scenecore are: 6arleyhuman, asteria, kets4eki, d3r, whatsaheart, punkinloveee, and more

MUSIC RECCOMENDATIONS!!!!!! (READ ALL)
Khruangbin- amazing Texas based rock trio that mixes elements of Arabic music, Spanish music, soul, psychedelic music, and rough rock drive together to make such an amazing and unique sound- my favorite songs are Maria Tambièn and August 10th
Meat Puppets- an 80s/90s alternative band- if you like psychedelic music, punk, oldies songs, Nirvana, or anything like that you would absolutely like them!!! they have a really woozy almost cowboy-ish sound to them that I think is really unique. my favorite songs by them: Up on the Sun, Oh Me, Lake of Fire, and Plateau!!!
Tullycraft- a twee pop band from the late 90s and 2000s, if you like Alex g or really any indie pop bands you would probably love them. they were one of the founders of the twee pop genre, and have a really childish and silly sound to them, their lyrics are really charming and funny to me- my favorite songs are Bee Sting Stings, Georgette Plays a Goth, DIY Queen, Look How We Killed The Riot Grrrls, and 1st String Teenage High!!!!!
Enjoy- a solo project by Wyatt Shears, also known for being one of the members of a popular group The Garden with his twin brother Fletcher. his music is influenced by a lot of 70s/classic/hardcore punk, hip-hop, and indie rock. my favorite songs are Small Car Big Wheels, Productivity/Has It Been This Long?, I'm Content, and Touch
Whatever, Dad- sort of fits in the same genre as Tullycraft, it's indie guitar-driven pop but I wouldn't necessarily call it indie pop. some of my most #1 ultra favorite songs are by this guy!!! they have a really laid-back and home recorded sound that feels really personal to me, a lot of their songs are really sad and have really beautiful lyrics to me. my favorite songs by them are Papa Ed's Oobe, Kitchenbastards, Warsh-Tippy and Zelda, and E.S.R.T (2001)
misc/songs/albums
Role Model Glue by Wimp Factor 14- MY MOST FAVORITE SONG RIGHT NOW. indie guitar pop, kinda reminds me of the cure I guess or sort of like will wood, beautiful lyrics and overall an amazing and charming song that I'm so lucky to have stumbled on
Charlotte by Kittie- all-women Nu-metal song that is absolutely amazing- it really reminds me of the cranberries or shoegaze bands mixed with Korn or gothic metal AAHH ITS REALLY GOOD!!!!!!!
Where are the Flowers? By Rumskib- ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL shoegaze song with the most heavenly vocals, every bit of it is just gorgeous blissful distorted guitar noise PLEASE LISTEN TO IT
New Jacket by Literature- more amazing noise rock/shoegaze, a bit more on the indie side but still deserves a spot on your shoegaze playlist, kind of reminds me of 60s music for some reason idk why, amazing dreamy vocals with a noisy but really tranquil guitar tone that I absolutely love!!!!! AAAHH!!!!!!!

i’m bored and i said i’d do it like a week ago so. what music i think bsd characters would listen to, brought to you from a guy who does not know that much about music
partially inspired by the character songs but not entirely
feel free to give your own hcs too! i imagine ppl would disagree with some of my takes which is extremely fair hehe so go ahead and share your own!! >:3
atsushi: mainstream pop, but generally the more gentle and acoustic stuff, even rock or folk leaning pop. also bubblegum pop he’d still jam to anything that’s fun tho
dazai: mainstream pop but the obnoxious annoying stuff. hyperpop also. but he’s generally okay with any genre. likes checking out experimental indie stuff
kunikida: dad rock, oldies. also hot take he’s enjoy lo-fi stuff (one of the other ada members introduces it to him and he tries working with it to block out noise other members *cough*dazai*cough* make and it works wonders)
ranpo: pop but slightly older stuff like 70s 80s vibes, and jazz but the more upbeat and intense sort of jazz. extremely picky about what he likes and gets bored of songs p quickly, so he enjoys more complex and interesting songs
yosano: pop-rock or indie stuff. smooth jazz. sometimes in the mood for more violent rock and metal in part to drown out noises while working lol
tanizaki: this is 100% bc he occupies the same space in my brain as yosuke hanamura but 00s rock. nickelback and linkin park sort of music. some emo stuff
kenji: would it be cliche to say country. lmao but really i think he’d be chill with anything, but prefer acoustic and indie stuff
kyouka: i think she’d hear modern pop songs involving classic japanese elements and ascend. she’d vibe with bubblegum pop but prefer quieter stuff
fukuzawa: classic japanese stuff ofc. doesn’t particularly dislike anything but prefers quiet/mellow music if possible
akutagawa: do i even need to say goth rock + emo. look at him. that guy inhales symphonic metal for a living and you know it. his guilty pleasure is musicals but like, the old classic extra dramatic sort of musicals
chuuya: classic rock + heavy rock and even hardcore stuff i’d say. punk and its subgenres as well. likes some pop songs as a guilty pleasure but hides it vehemently
higuchi: bubblegum pop and pop punk. kinda similar taste to atsushi as in she prefers quiet and acoustic pop more
tachihara: rock, pop punk, loud and violent
gin: emo. warped tour-esque music. kinda similar to tachihara but edgier
hirotsu: classical music, smooth jazz, quiet and mellow
kajii: exprimental. i don’t need to explain myself
kouyou: classic japanese music
mori: orchestral stuff and smooth jazz. opera even
lucy: musicals and dramatic indie pop (i swear i can’t think of a better way to describe it. i’m sure what i mean has a specific name i don’t know unfortunately but if you know it you probably know what i mean). if anyone likes disney osts it’s her
poe: dramatic orchestral stuff, lots of organ and harpsichord sounds. on the flip side, likes lo-fi chill stuff too
steinback: country lmao
nathaniel: church music. amen
louisa: folk, acoustic, quieter and more mellow pop, as well as some more classic musical stuff
mark: mainstream radio pop no doubt no doubt. doesn’t go too deep into genres he just likes fun songs and whatever he can sing along to
melville: i say oldies and i mean OLDIES like 20s 30s sort of music. classical music as well
francis: oldies, rock n roll specifically. claims to like jazz to sound fancy but does not really get it
fyodor: i mean he’s p much the only character with a canon music taste, so. makes my job easier. he likes classical music
nikolai: realistically, classical music (based on how he doesn’t know the word “band” and asks if it’s like an orchestra in that one omake). emotionally, he would thrive on scene kid music, electroswing, hyperpop, and clowncore stuff. he would unironically enjoy penis music
sigma: indie pop. the most basic music you can imagine that is not quite fully mainstream. kinda bland stuff but that’s the way he likes it
fukuchi: classic old stuff but like, marches and orchestra music. while putting up his friendly persona, he’d scream along to dad rock music
sorry hunting dogs besties i don’t have any takes on you. yet
#bungou stray dogs#not tagging everyone lmao#this post is funny bc you can clearly see me running out of steam after chuuya and getting excited again with nikolai#i encourage you to reblog with your own hcs or make your own post heh i'm curious to see >:3#naturally this post is very biased to my own taste in music so some genres are really under represented hehe

BACHELORS’ MUSIC PREFERENCES —STARDEW VALLEY HEADCANONS
SUMMARY: The bachelors’ favorite songs, artists, and genres!
CONTAINS: sfw, nothing worth noting
NOTES: Wrote this instead of a college essay :) Spotify playlist links included! (tap the music notes beside each bachelor’s name)
— ELLIOTT ♪
• Genres: Classical, Indie
• Artists: Hozier, Pearl Jam, Teddy Hyde
• Songs: A Wistful Waltz, Black, Work Song
Elliott might as well have walked straight out of a sappy romance novel. He romanticizes life and that’s partly shown through the music he listens to. He loves poetic, slow songs about passionate love, or one that’s been lost. He likes to have classical music on while he writes/works. Classical piano music is what inspired him to play when he was younger. He loves the sound, the aesthetics, and the movement (plus, it was the easiest instrument for him to learn). He immerses himself in music, imagining himself twirling around his lover as he listens to Hozier, or staring longingly out into the ocean as Black plays. Elliott himself is a passionate man in all regards and the music he listens to only encourages him further.
— HARVEY ♪
• Genres: Oldies, Lofi
• Artists: Queen, Pulp, New Order
• Songs: Can’t Take My Eyes off You, As the World Caves In, Baby I’m Yours
Harvey enjoys calming, upbeat music. Preferably something he can turn on in the background as he works. Maru introduced him to Lofi. Since then, he keeps it playing in the clinic during work hours. He likes the calming mood it sets, as for some of his patients, going to the doctor can be anxiety-inducing. When he’s in a relationship, he loves to turn on the radio and dance with his partner to Frankie Valli or Queen. But if he’s not, he’ll day dream about doing just that, imagining himself deeply in love. Nothing warms his heart more than upbeat love songs!
— SAM ♪
• Genres: (80’s/90’s) Punk, Alternative Rock
• Artists: Misfits, Nirvana, The Cure
• Songs: Rebel Yell, Mrs. Robinson (The Lemonheads version), Astro Zombies
Sam loves everything about punk: the chaos, the rebellion, the energy, and volume. From an early age, he pictured himself on stage above a sea of people that enthusiastically sang along with him. Bands like Nirvana and the Misfits inspired him to pick up the guitar and rock out until his fingers became numb (or his mom complained about the noise). His and Sebastian’s favorite music influence how their band sounds. Therapy to Sam is jamming out to his favorite songs, getting completely lost in the music. When his dad was deployed and his mom became overwhelmed with his little brother, blaring his music was the only thing that could center and energize him enough for the day.
— SEBASTIAN ♪
• Genres: Emo, Post-hardcore
• Artists: Deftones, The Used, My Chemical Romance
• Songs: Dragula, Angelfuck, A Box Full of Sharp Objects
It was a phase until it wasn’t. After Sam introduced him to punk in their early teens, Sebastian found early 2000’s emo music through bands like Thursday, My Chemical Romance, Deftones, Taking Back Sunday, ect. They give him a safe space to feel and sit with his emotions without question or concern. He feels that these bands understand him when no one else does, bringing him rare moments of genuine peace through the constant cloud of angst that surrounds him. He likes to have it on whenever he’s in his room or working on his motorcycle. He could easily listen to the main emo classics hundreds of times over again without it becoming repetitive—which he has. Nothing feels better than drowning out the world (and his family) with blaring, emo music.
— SHANE ♪
• Genres: Metal, Hard Rock
• Artists: Alice In Chains, Korn, Soundgarden
• Songs: A.D.I.D.A.S, Bed of Roses, Closer
Shane has a lot of angsty feelings that are undealt with. Loud, aggressive, and angry music is usually his go-to, as well as some slower songs about heartbreak. He grew up listening to bands like Korn, Metallica, and Black Sabbath. After the deaths of his best friends (Jas’ parents) is when he really started to depend on metal to drown out his sorrows. He felt so angry and mournful but had no way of expressing that. He leaned into the hostile, melancholic sounds Alice In Chains and Soundgarden provided, along with other bands that produced the same. He’s also incredibly horny but you didn’t hear that from me.
— ALEX ♪
• Genres: Hip Hop, Lofi
• Artists: 1nonly, Tyler The Creator, The Neighbourhood
• Songs: The Beach, Darling I, Boys Don’t Cry
Alex likes to drown out to music, mainly while he works out (and recently, while he reads). He prefers music he can tune out so he can focus all his energy into his hobbies, and not have to worry about being distracted. He’s constantly listening to music—on runs, in the shower, in his room. He keeps a small speaker turned on in his room almost all day that plays a Lofi station. He found that he can spiral very easily into his worst thoughts if his mind isn’t occupied with external noise.

hae interrogationes multae respondeant quia demens .
if you read this entire ask post you deserve a gold star and financial recompensation
Um, Obviously because when you’re adopted by a white guy you automatically become white duhhh
this is about this post lmao and yeah youre absolutely right, you have to hand your poc card in when you get adopted by a white guy.
Do you think Cass would listen to Yanni, the YouTube channel epic symphonic rock, or some other stuff? There's some cool mashups but idk if that's up your alley, I kinda feel like I'm pushing it with my weird taste of music by recommending an orchestra cover of metal, but i just love that sort of thing and mashups :P @harvestyourcherries
i haven’t heard of that? but in my personal (correct) opinion steph listens to classical music, and then both modern and older, and then also stuff like black sabbath, iron maiden, but also hardrock and hardcore. i like the idea of cass just liking the most extreme screaming songs full of noise and then also listen to pachelbel’s 370th sonata yanno? THANK YOU for the rec tho
speaking of ur cass playlist hc...reminds of the time (yesterday) i found 2 playlists randomly on spotify from the same user. one was abt 3 hours of instrumental/classical "dark" & "nostalgic" music. the other almost 11 hours of nothing but hardcore bass/synth/electronic music. just an incredible tightrope act to put on in public. the synth one was also called like "psalms for synth sluts" which is Also incredible
tbh i LOVE synth SO MUCH like for no reason at all but then also cannot handle a poppy electronic beat lmao. but this seems like the kinda thing i’d do but just in one (1) playlist bc i just sort songs by vibe instead of genre? that’s how i end up with britney spears and billy ray cyrus in the same playlist.
Oh, I want Kate Kane playlist next! It would be amazing if you could do one when you have time and will 🙏
how rude would it be of me to just say no? like sorry kate but idk you and also you seem way too keen on the us military for an institution that homophobically targeted you? (and also commits war crimes) but let’s unpack the fact that the institution that caused the death of your mom and sister and also got you blacklisted for being gay is still one you align with???
'yes i am' 'no you're not' 'yes i am' 'no you're not' 'yes i am' 'no you're not' 'yes i am' 'no you're not' 'yes i am' 'no you're not' 'yes i am' 'no you're not' --- when i tell you i fucking screamed LOL!!!!!!! i can imagine the cameraman not knowing if he should cut to commercial or keep it on these two weirdos fighting on stage (bruce definitely ruffled dick's hair/noogied him right??
about this post but yeah lmao. this cameraman just turns to like the audience to get a reaction and it’s just multiple moments of CLEAR shock.
you are the only funny person on this hellsite
how egotistical is it for me to say that i get this ask multiple times a month? bc it literally happens so often it’s hilarious to me.
Wish there was more john/Bruce content 😔😔😔 was so hungry I actually looked at canon media 😔😔😔 (Justice League Dark babeeeyyyyyy)
check out batman: damned for some mediocre content but at least it’s john/bruce (also very interesting story and stuff, just got very >:( over this weird part where harley quinn tried to r*pe bruce or something? it’s not for everyone)
dick grayson but he's nicki minaj
his anaconda don’t want none,,, unless......
Dick Grayson was never a cop, he played Marshall on Paw Patrol
you are SO right. also paw patrol is a fucking good show idc. that shit could’ve been the new steven universe on this hellsite.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CS1lI0bLI7-/?utm_medium=copy_link
...
why do people keep reposting my CONTENT. if you are not funny yourself don’t just grab shit off of tumblr and post it on insta,,, get a life. sidenote: should i start an insta and get all these ppl to take my content down that would be funny as hell.
Might I suggest for a Gotham City Meme: something about the true crime fandom thirsting for the rogues gallery
ok can i just say something slightly controversial?? no? i don’t find true crime ppl who are into criminals funny, that shits disturbing irl im not gonna bring that into my very chill universe.
i may have never seen a 'jason cleaning guns in sink' fic but i do know he WOULD
THANK YOU
bestie im sorry to say this to you but while you can, and people do wash their guns in the sink, that is a lot of lead in a very vital part of the kitchen.
people tend to do it in the bathtub.
WHY???? like damn why do you even have guns
i dont think i read many gun sink fics exactly but i have read lots of fics where jason cleanes his guns in the living room. usualy dissembles them and cleans them with a rag i think
lmao fair enough, like i think that’s a large part of what i remember as well.
if you say you've seen/read gun sink fics I believe you. I think those of us who didn't see them are lucky or maybe didn't search for fics by tags or something idk
i mean ive never sought them out but i HAVE seen them,, like definitely i know almost for certain.
saw your tags and I'm interested in Steph/Kara now. They would be the most chaotic couple <3
literally thoooo, i have a wip where they get together in a zombie apocalypse and like UGGGHhhh i am so in love with them.
I am the Breece anon. Thanks for the recommendation; am reading now. I’ve always been a hardcore Superman fan because I love my pure himbo farm boy. My logic is, if one Bruce is a Broose, then multiple Broose are a herd of Breece. And this is a hill upon which I will perish.
fair enough,,,, like moose, meese, goose, geese, bruce, breece. i get your logic and i stand by it as well. (glad you enjoyed the comic recs!!!!)
It's a beautiful day in Gotham, and you are a group of horrible Breece
OH my god dude lmao
there only being 42 fics on ao3 for tim and bernard is honestly so sad i need more
it’s like twice that now!!! we did it lads. (tho very sad that my fic isnt number one but like number 4 :(((( )
i'm too late you already did the poll lol but may i suggest bethy (bernard + timothy)
shit dude that wouldve been so fucking funnyyyyy. think ppl have just stuck to timber tho, tim/bernard kinda died down recently and i think it’s too bad, they’re a great couple and i love them.
Wait, hear me out
Bernothy @redlightofdawn
great recommendation (lmao this ask is from like a month ago) but very sorry to announce that NARDTH is the superior shipname
Wait, we know that bernard likes milfs (Tim's step-mom) but what about dilfs? gilfs?
Wait no, I regret sending that ask
these were two seperate asks and they’re HILARIOUS. in my personal opinion tho,,, milfs, gilfs, dilfs are just about vibes and bernard is just attracted to sexy ppl who may sometimes be milfs, dilfs, or EVEN gilfs.
crime in bludhaven would drop to half if nightwing had a boob window. in this essay i will-
WHERE’S THE ESSAY ANON, WHERE’S THE FUCKING ESSAY
Wait if Barbra and Tim r at opposite ends at all times what happened to Barbra once everyone’s Tim’s ever love before started dying lol
she won a lottery ticket and spent 2 weeks on a resort in the bahamas before returning home and finding out that the joker was arrested for tax evasion and then spent a month staying at her big tiddie goth girlfriend’s house before conner came back to life and she broke her pinkie playing table hockey.
Why is the opposite end thing so funny and compelling to me. Tim comes back from his depression quest for Bruce and Babs is now a literal god
lmao when tim loses his spleen barbara reaches nirvana.
Are you still taking music recs because I have three songs that remind me of Jason that I think you'd like
send to me or lose a toe
🌸 ⭐ put this star into the inbox of your favorite blogs. it’s time to spread positivity! ⭐🌸😋
thanks, i wont tho on account of i wont.
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMduBy3Sr/
⬆️
This is the whole of Blüdhaven and everyone anywhere.
Nightwings ass alone saves more people in a calendar year and does more for so society than most heroes do their whole career. Also u are one of the funniest tumblr pages out there. The vibes are unmatched and the memes and tags ✨send me✨.Thank u and goodnight @julia-flow
fanksss also lmao.
That's going to be a little bit difficult to explain, but
There's some music that you listen to and you think, "oh my gosh, I can perfectly imagine Dick Grayson singing this song, with the same voice as the singer because that voice matches with Dick Grayson"?
oh yeah totally lmao. i have a lot of songs that i think are just entirely dick grayson yanno? kind of all of my playlists have that vibe, but i really find bleachers to fit with dick? idk.
"Lois lane/Superman" fics this, "Lois lane/Clark Kent" fics that, (/lh) let's get into the real good stuff. Some people ship Lois, Clark, and Superman as a throuple. Most popular fic tag for sure
yes totally, i think they’d be absolutely killer on ao3 and clark gets so fucking embarassed about it.
I miss your post, hope you’re doing okay!!
haha this was like 2 months ago, but i was doing fine then too! just didn’t have a lot of inspiration in terms of content.
Doot doot!
noot noot
I’m confused. What did DC do now? Like with nightwing? And another sibling? Please spoil everything for me
lmao they gave him a secret sister plotline where they had his dad cheat on his mom with tony zucco’s wife, bc dick’s life wasn’t traumatic enough yet.
sorry but it's so funny that batman is called "the dark knight" when the gotham city baseball team is called the gotham knights. it'd be like if a vigilante was running around new york called like "the scary yankee"
lmaooo no. but like yankee comes from dutch names or something so wouldnt it be HILARIOUS if gotham knights came from like german names and bruce would be running around called the dark KLAUS UND NIEK @graysonnightwing
(not a batcest shipper) it’s so funny to me that the responses are “i’m a batcest shipper because i can differentiate fiction from reality and and it doesn’t bother me personally, but i understand why you oils think it’s weird” to “i wish all batcest shippers a very fucking die”
yeah lmaoo. i personally basically flipped my entire stance around to ‘i dont care please leave me and everybody else alone’ bc i think there’s really no point in starting a moral dillema over some fucking fandom bullshit. Please just,,, go home,,, log off, find a nice forest to have a little walk in and remember that somewhere in history, somebody probably died in the place you’re standing. and you will also die someday, and somebody will have to look at your internet usage and see you fighting multiple people anonymously while being named ‘nightwingsbuttchin200186′ like... calm down, we’re all gonna die this is not the thing to worry about.
so since like "wards" don't really exist in modern society almost all the batkids are foster kids, right? i used to work in the system and imagine: monthly visits from social workers and guardian ad litems, bruce having to get permission to take the boys anywhere out of state, calling their social worker at like 8 a.m. like "yeah dick broke his arm again... a gymnastics accident this time...." their poor social worker. bruce send her a huge bouquet and box of chocolates every month to stay on her good side
i imagine the social worker just getting into the case like ‘yeah let’s get this kid a good guardian’ and then ending up having to work with 22 y/o bruce wayne and his 50 y/o dad. and so this social worker is like ‘okay we can work with this, this is the best home i can find’ and then like it ends up landing on its feet and then the kid gets adopted and then they get a call a year later like ‘uhm so hi, this kid tried to steal my tyres can i adopt him?’ and like 3 years later. ‘okay so basically, my neighbours’ kid imprinted on me and now they’re dead, can i keep him?’ two years later it’s like ‘okay so this assassin child-’
ever since I saw that one post of yours, the meme that's something like "I know that abba's backup dancer got me" with a picture of discowing, I've been haunted. Every once in a while I'll be minding my own business then the image of abba's backup dancer dick grayson aka nightwing aka discowing will flash in my mind and I'll be frozen in place. Today at work I was in the middle of folding clothes and suddenly once again discowing entered my mind and I suddenly lost the ability to see anything except He. Thank you.
wow. the IMPACT.
Braver than any US marine man props to you🤝
this shit is about the time i wrote an article on batcest, like man,,, the fact that i didn’t get cancelled is MIRACULOUS. also like,,, uh if anybody on here did gossip on me,, send screenshots i’d love to see it.
Hello, just wanted to say your article was great. Thank you for taking the time to provide an unbaised answer. It should provide people with nuances they couldn't possibly conjure on their own.
May I ask where your username originates from?
yes you may (also thanks!!!) i thought it up when i was trying to find an original username bc i didnt want to be called like ‘timdrakes something something’ or ‘jason todd something smoething’ or ‘dick grayson something something’ yanno? so i thought batarangs, they sound so dumb and that’s my username story... now it’s my whole entire brand lmao.
yno that bit in kick ass where red mist asks kick ass if he wants a hit of his blunt, was that the inspo for stoner tim
no? it’s bc i think stoners are hilarious and drugs are great. (dont do drugs tho)
How would u feel if someone actually wore one of those bruce or ollie pride shirts u edited
fenomenal next question.
Dick as lil huddy and Jason as James gave me radiation poisoning and now I’m screaming crying throwing up so thx for that
(Rico suave as Tim is perfect tho literally no changes needed)
i was so funny for that shit wasn’t i??? lmao i loved those weird ass fancasts
You're doing the Lord's work by providing us with all these Gotham/Metropolis citizens memes, thank you for being so relentlessly funny @nellethiel-aranel
you’re welcome!! i really enjoy making memes, but getting validation for my content and my memes is REALLY nice.
Bruce is such a slut in your memes and honestly i love that for him @rhodey-rhudert-rhodes-main
he’s that much of a slut irl too dw.
Bruce and Alfred have an emergency pride flag for the batkids. Oliver Queen printed an emergency "I love my gay son" t-shirt and as soon as Roy told him he was dating Jason, Oliver started wearing that shirt everyday and Roy always cringes when he sees it. Oliver also has an emergency "I love my lesbian daughter" shirt just in case for Cissie.
lmao YES i had a post like this bc like all of their kids/family members are so gayy
stop bringing back batfam fancasts it is not real it is not real it is not- 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
oh yes it is my darling.
did discowing burn down the notredam because he hates the bees? @allulily
no he did it bc fuck the french.
im gonna beg for 1 thing and 1 thing only. please please please put physical by olivia newton john on dick's playlist
okay then beg. bc i wont. physical reminds me too much of glee and that hurts me mentally.
your playlist is sorely missing some Madonna. Specifically Into the Groove, Like a Prayer, and Vogue
i’m scared of madonna that’s why she’s not on there. she haunts me in my dreams.
suggestion: son of batman by aaron dews for dick’s playlist🤩
sorry, i listened to it and the vibe didn’t agree with me.
Hear me out, metropolis citizens sending rare pair fics of Clark Kent x Superman fics to Lois to edit
yes, absolutely hilarious. even more funny if they send like physical copies, no address attached and lois sends it back marked with red ink, SOMEHOW
Imagine all the smut Clark must of read editing the fics
clark reads smut confirmeeed
NOT LOIS READING SUPERBAT PORN AND EDITING IT A 2AM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
hc that alfred is a meta that boosts healing factor of the people around him. if the bats are injured as much as they seem to be they would be doing bat stuff MAYBE half the year. no one including alfred knows about this. whenever the kids move out they inexplicably dont recover from injuries as fast and feel better whenever they visit the manor they just chalk it up to homesickness. bruce just thinks he heals really fast. alfred thinks everyone doesnt take care of themselves properly @finchcollector
that’s actually such a great idea, but i think that alfred would find out and learn how to concentrate it better so he can help more people, bc he’s great and i love him.
One of your dickfast posts reminded me of that tweet that goes: 'so you've had sex how many times? Yeah technically that's not a bromance' lol that's dickwally or dickroy
literally tho. like that’s all of dick’s friendships. once it gets past a certain time dick is like ‘wow i wonder what it would be like to make out with wally, wally come make out with me’ and wally’s like ‘we’ve done this like 40 times, dick, you know what it’s like’ and dick is like ‘sorry are you complaining?’ and they just make out.
superfam and batfam associations??
-batman and superman
-dick/barabara and supergirl?
-conner and tim
-jon and damian
pls enlighten me I am confused
nope,,, uhm batman and superman, but dick and superman as well, and then conner and tim, jon and damian and steph + babs with supergirl
I came across a fic in which Wonder Woman calls Batman "Stella" (like Stellaluna, the children's book) and I can imagine the batkids hop on the trend and maybe copies of the book appear at random places (aka, everywhere Bruce frequents)
sorry can’t reciprocate that was the name of my high school chemistry teacher and it gives me nightmares to think about.
good human what are your pronouns?
wouldn’t you like to know?
I need me some gothamites preferring harley over joker memes
everyone prefers harley over joker youre just very fucked up if you dont
don't understand why people try to add like veteran policy to the batfamily
dick pulling out his veteran batfam member card so he can eat first: step aside, peasants
Do you know the song Simmer by Haley Williams? It (the first verse anyways) reminds me of Jason? It's about rage.
damn yeah i LOVE HAYLEY!!!! youre right thoo
Okay so I like listen to your stoner Tim Drake playlist 24/7 but would he listen to skegss? Also I keep adding songs mentally it’s killing me 😩✋🏼 Anyways,, I literally love and worship your playlist 😃🤞🏼 And uh yeah have a good day ✨
stoner tim drake playlist is lyfeeee. also dont know who skeggs is? i’m stupid? have a good day!!
All the Robins (and Batgirl) decide to trade costumes for one night just to fuck with Batman and all the villains in Gotham. @subspacecadet
batman knows it’s them youknow but like,,, what does he call them? he’s like ‘red hood?’ and 3 people answer and he’s not about to compromise some identities so he’s just Pissed.
I aspire to treat cops the way my dad treats them. This man is a 45 year old Asian immigrant to the US and the treats them like his pets. He talks about them like unruly children. Sometimes he pays off local cops to shut up and stop acting racist. And usually it works. I don’t know why but I can see Oliver Queen doing this
vibes... and also yes? oliver queen handing a local cop a donut to shut the fuck up lmao. but yanno i commit enough crimes to not really want to ever see a cop ever, so they kinda scare the everloving fuck out of me.
seeing as tim hasn't aged in years, that means he was 17 at peak emo tumblr era. im back on my emo tim bullshit and im not letting it go
emo tim had a wattpad account send tweet
People seem to think that batman is so dark and serious when the rainbow batsuit is right there. He wore it with no shame.
dude the 60s were a DIFFERENT TIME
dick grew up in a circus, jason grew up on the streets, and tim was probably raised by the internet
all of them cuss every other word and you cannot tell me otherwise
bitch i KNOW but dc has to change to an 18+ rating if they want to sell comix with swear words in them so we gotta deal with imagining the swear words in ourselves
thoughts on teen titans and young justice
haven’t seen teen titans on account of havent seen it and young justice was LITERALLY my favourite thing ever, tho i do gotta admit it’s not at all similar to the young justice comics unfortunately. i really wouldve liked to see timmy bart kon cassie and cissie animated on tv!!
ew ew ew how to delete batcest shippers I genuinely digust them
log off tumblr?
Okay as poc who was called racist for calling an Italian pastabrain: in the batfam are Italians bit Damian just yells various insults about the others being Italian. Just him yelling “What are you doing you moronic spaghettihead!” At steph etc
huh? i meant real italians. homeboy is telling steph he hopes she chokes on her fucking garlic.
I think it's dumb as hell to pull the batman is the best fighter in the batfam argument because like it's just irresponsible of Bruce to let his kids fight when they couldn't possibly be on his league or something
fair enough, but also like who cares they could all kill you just sit down and take a beating.
lady shiva, thalia al ghul and Selina Kyle are all milfs @notanothertimburtonenthusiastugh
unfortunately, i have to admit,,, you’re right
why tf didn't someone give joker a death sentence already? like he's a mass murderer...give him the electric chair treatment wtf
idk i think plenty of people would have tried to murder him already (boring answer is: he is a popular character so they can’t kill him off bc he brings in lots of money)
There’s no such thing as “ copaganda”.
all american media is propaganda. happy to clear this up for you
is it bad that I find lady shiva owa owa
no. find her as owa owa as you want.
aight I'm guessing the order of your favs in batfam:
1. tim
2. Steph
3. dick
4. Duke
5. the rest
you’re wrong but it’s cute that you tried, i generally don’t have favourites, but i have a special place in my heart for steph, tim, dick and cass. bc they were like my introduction to batfam. but damian, jason, duke, bruce, babs and alfred are NOT FORGOTTEN OR UNLOVED
oh my god i was literally just readily willing to believe that italians werent white ty for clarifying it was a joke im so dumb sdkvjskdfs
i mean some italians aren’t white? italian is a nationality as well as an ethnicity, so like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
since I saw so many people doing headcanons about the nationalities of batboys, I see Dick as an Italian.
dont know if youre serious or not, but sure.
super random but
jason 🤝 damian
old english
lmao fair enough.
tim absolutely has 1 gay uncle and his parents shit talk said uncle all the time so after bruce adopts him he specifically reaches out to this uncle to be like "heyyyy just so you know you majorly influenced my life yes i know i havent seen you since i was 5 and at the family reunion yes i know you dont remember my name idc thank you im gay too" and then they never talk again.
yuppp lmao that’s definitely something that could happen. i can also consider tim having no family members, like none. until he does like a dna test and he realises he has like an aunt living barely 2 miles away from him who’s like some illegitimate child of his grandpa.
I dare you one of them sends clark superman/clark fic and clark corrects the shit out of it and then goes like ps his dick is not that big, just telling as someone who has seen it. internet either explodes or goes who tf did he not fuck at this point.
i think everybody would call clark a buzzkill and try to cancel him over that.
so you're telling me Tim Drake wouldn't buy Starbucks?
no. dunkin donuts all the way
One of my favorite things is imagining people finding out jason came back from the dead and being like "oh no does he have magic powers now?!?!?" and he just pulls out a gun and tries to shoot joker
now he doesn’t even have the gun :) lmao
my favorite batfamily fanfictions are the ones where they use their shitty codenames, unironically, in any context
bruce gets codename ‘ugh’ everytime. he hates it.
crazy that tim being a 17 y/o ceo and a stoner who does brand deals are all actual canon things written in detective comics comics and not made up for shits and giggles by you, tumblr user batarangsoundsdumb @rowdeyclown
SO CRAZY HUH?
batman au where everything is the same but his utility belt is bright pink
absolutely, but i raise you, his boots light up like sketchers when he kicks people.
unbeknownst to the superhero fandom writers in the dcuniverse, clark and BRUCE are one of the most prolific fanfic writers in the superhero rpf tag on ao3. clark writes the best lois x superman angst, full of unhappy endings and scenes that are a so detailed you'd think you were in the middle of a superhero beatdown. bruce made an ao3 account to fuel "the do the butts match" thing, and makes batman/bruce fics from time to time. he wrote a superbat fic as a joke but ended up making it REAL porny. @concrastinator
dude they’re WAY too busy for that. Oliver Queen and Hal Jordan on the other hand are the most prolific fanfic writers in the superhero rpf tag writing what is Mostly porn.
When the dining table topic gets to politics, Steph says "eat the rich" as the solution
bruce just silently takes away her fork and knife while she’s talking.
#literally if you got through this i just respect you#this is mainly just for the people who sent me an ask in the past few mask#i hope your ask is in here :)#sorry for everybody else#ask#bataranswers#this took me 4 hours to do so i hope youre happy#also sidenote#does anybody know the latin translation for 'to become'#bc i just used future of 'esse' but it could be a different verb#who cares tho latin is a dead language#big congratulations to everyone who translates my sentence#here's a bonus sentence: tuam matrem futueram

ARCH ENEMY's MICHAEL AMOTT: I've Always Been Interested In A Blend Of 'Aggression' And 'Melody'
In a new interview with Rauta, ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott was asked if he gets any inspiration to listening to newer metal bands. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I don't really listen to current metal deeply. I've had a very wide taste of music. I grew up in a kind of eclectic home. My mother is a big fan of classical music and jazz, so I kind of grew up on that first. But I'm into everything, man. If it's got a good melody…
"When you're a musician for so many years, you become a little bit jaded maybe," he continued. "If you've heard it before, you don't really connect with it. You can quickly figure out what they're doing and it's maybe not that interesting. But if somebody comes out with something that's just, 'Oh, I've never heard that…' Nowadays it's more about fusion — taking one idea, mixing it with another and adding something else. That's kind of what you have to do now.
"I grew up in a time when metal was very pure and hardcore punk was very pure," Amott added. "It was very scene based. You stayed in your lane. And I did that; I grew up with that. And if bands got a little bit more melodic, I just dropped them: 'Fuck this band. They've got melodic vocals.' I just wanted the hard, fast, heavy shit. I was like that; I was that teenager. But then you grew up a little bit, and I improved on my instrument; I became more interested in [incorporating other styles into the music]."
When the interviewer pointed out that even Amott's former band CARCASS went from playing "gore grind" in the early years to pursuing a "more melodic" sound, Michael said: "Yeah, I was a part of that a little bit, with the '[Necroticism – ]Descanting [The Insalubrious]' album and the 'Heartwork' album in the early '90s. So that was a breaking point as well, of course — melody in the death metal sound.
"With ARCH ENEMY, I'm really interested in melody, I'm really interested in riffs," he explained. "I'm very much still into classic metal — a lot of the more obscure stuff. I've listened so much to IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST and all those kind of bands that I'm kind of done with that. I'm a record collector, a vinyl collector, I'm into all that obscure stuff that nobody's ever really heard of on a large scale. But I find some inspiration in that. And I really kind of like bad metal from the '80s. I like, basically, kids making noise, and that kind of gives me the energy. 'Cause I'm always trying to find my way back to that 15-year-old Michael Amott that's excited about metal. I surround myself in my music room with just artifacts of metal culture and punk culture and the stuff I grew up on, and I just get into that zone. And that's how I try to keep it fresh. I don't really hear something new that's out there now and go, 'Oh, that's cool. I wanna put a bit of that in ARCH ENEMY.' That never happens. It's more like everything that we've listened to, it's all inside of us and it's just a mix. And I've always been interested in this blend between aggression and heaviness with the melody and the catchiness, but not going too much on the pop side, but staying metal. It's just like a balance. It's difficult. [Laughs] It's always a challenge."
ARCH ENEMY's 11th studio album, "Deceivers", arrived on August 12 via Century Media Records.
The band played the first show of its "The North American Siege 2022" tour with BEHEMOTH and NAPALM DEATH on April 16 at The Marquee in Tempe, Arizona.
ARCH ENEMY is appearing at select summer festivals before embarking on the rescheduled "European Siege 2022" trek (with BEHEMOTH, CARCASS, UNTO OTHERS) in the fall.

Hey hun ❤️
For the asks - 8, 14, 28, 31, 42
And just because…have a bit of our favourite man
Oh, that BEAUTIFUL man! Thank you for sharing. His little smile here, with his tongue just coming up behind his teeth...oops! Sorry, I got focused on the wrong thing! Answers! 😁
8. What’s your favorite band/artist?
That is REALLY hard to answer for me. I'm really eclectic in my musical tastes. I love pretty much every genre with the exception of dubstep (noise not music, imo) death metal (same reason) and hardcore gangsta rap. I love older artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, The Platters, etc (grew up listening to them because of my mom) but I also love contemporary artists like Eminem, Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Lizzo, etc. My daughter LOVES K-Pop, so I know and enjoy a lot of those groups as well, Stray Kids, BTS, BlackPink, and Twice being some of my favourites in that genre. Love country, classic rock and hip hop as well. But I'm going to go with what gets the most rotation in my playlists and that's Radio Company and Jensen Ackles' live Con performances. 💓
14. What’s your favorite color?
Green. Hands down! I even love all the different shades of green. Maybe that explains my obsession with Jensen's beautiful eyes! 😉
28. How are you, really?
First of all, thank you for asking this question. We don't get it nearly enough in our lives. I'm well. I've found that it's been tough getting back to the real world after Covid. I'm so exceedingly happy to be able to see my friends and family again. But I've also found getting together after so long has some anxiety along with it. Running around again after a year and a half of being home all the time, is daunting. But it's also such a blessing. So, it's a weird conundrum. I'm sure it will get easier as things get a little closer to normal. 🤞🤞
31. What are you looking forward to in the distant future?
My daughter's graduation from high school in 4 years. Watching what she does with her life - possibly bouncing grandkids on my knee. I still have a dream of being published one day. And travelling. God, I want to see the world. I desperately want to land in your neck of the woods - I'd KILL to see the UK and all of Europe. Then a million more places all across the globe. I LOVE to learn new things and meet new people. One day. 😊
42. Tag 5 of your favorite blogs
Picking 5 blogs is impossible, so I'm cheating. You, of course, @myloversgone, @deanwithscissors, @all-alone-he-turns-to-stone, @rizlowwritessortof, @jensensgotyoudean, @justagirlinafandomworld, @b3autyfuldisast3r, @there-must-be-a-lock, @thinkinghardhardlythinking, @winchest09, @impala-dreamer, @deanwinchesterswitch, @thoughtslikeaminefield, @deanwanddamons, @charred-angelwings, @avanatural 5 favourite blogs/17 favourite blogs...is there really that big a difference! Sorry, I couldn't help it. There's definitely more I couldn't think of too. Thanks so much for this ask, I'm so sorry for my inability to keep things short and sweet! 😉

Listed: Cloakroom
Cloakroom are a trio from Indiana who have been making music somewhere in the regions of shoegaze, stoner rock, metal, and even-post hardcore since 2012. Dissolution Wave, their third LP and second on Relapse Records, is a concept album about a future where space miners have to write songs good enough to keep human civilization going, and it rips. Ian Mathers covered the record for Dusted and praised its “mastery of and dexterity with [the band’s] looming, frazzled sound” and said it was “the trio in all-killer-no-filler mode.” Here, Cloakroom’s impressively bearded bassist Bobby Markos lists ten records with personal connections.
Ten Records Tied to Significant Points in My Life
One of my earliest memories in life is accompanying my father as he went shopping for 45s at a local record store. He had a little handwritten list with song titles he was looking for, many of them B-sides and lesser-known cuts from his youth. Once he had a stack, we took them home and he used our home stereo system to dub the singles to cassette tapes, thus exposing me to the art of mixtapes at an early age. When our family would take long road trips to Florida or West Virginia, those tapes were our soundtracks, and before I knew arithmetic, I was learning the ins and outs of Herb Alpert, the Sandpipers, Spanky & Our Gang and other classics from the 1960s.
As a result of this practice, not only have I always had a taste in music beyond my age, but I learned to associate songs with moments. Music and nostalgia go hand-in-hand for me and listening to certain albums can be a transportive experience, taking me back to previous chapters of my life. The following are ten records that have strong links to my past (in alphabetical order):
The Beatles — Rubber Soul
youtube
Growing up, I heard a lot of Beatles tracks on the radio, as my father only listened to classic rock stations in the car, but for some reason the only physical Beatles recording we had in the house was a CD copy of Rubber Soul. When I was in high school, I started listening to it frequently, and it was here that I figured out that the band transcended the singles you would hear on the radio. And that they were so gifted in a studio setting. Not to mention, the last four tracks (“In My Life,” “Wait,” “If I Needed Someone” and “Run For Your Life”) are an incredible block of songwriting.
Boards of Canada — The Campfire Headphase
youtube
During my senior year of high school, Myspace was roaring and suddenly you could connect with people outside of your immediate city and friend circle. Common practice upon meeting someone new was sharing music, and I credit that time with turning me on to some artists I would have never come across on my own. One of those became my favorite band: Boards of Canada. Someone from Michigan sent me “Dayvan Cowboy”, claiming “this is their only good song.” I listened to that song on repeat for months before I finally dove into the rest of The Campfire Headphase, and the rest is history. Since that first listen, BoC has been my favorite artist and arguably the most influential music I’ve ever heard in my life. For being an instrumental album, it speaks louder than any other record I’ve ever heard, immediately transferring the listener to the 1960s California coast during a sunset drive. I listened to this record going to sleep every remaining night of high school, and much of my early touring years, because it became home.
Broadcast — The Noise Made By People
youtube
A dear friend of mine who was living in the Bay Area at the time sent me Broadcast’s Tender Buttons and I was immediately hooked. I was in undergrad and still living at home, using the family computer to house my digital music library. Something about Broadcast’s nostalgic sound took me back to my childhood. It was familiar but new and exciting all at once. I acquired their entire discography, and The Noise Made By People became my favorite. I love Trish Keenan’s lyrics and delivery; she was magnetic through sound waves. “Unchanging Window,” “Come On Let’s Go” and “Until Then” would be career songs for any artist, but the whole album is magnificent. I’ll always associate it with my early college years.
Earth — The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull
youtube
Once I had graduated high school and started my old band Native, I was spending more time up in Chicago with friends I’d met through playing shows. I hadn’t listened to much heavy music except my father’s Black Sabbath tapes, so bands like Earth, Sunn, Pelican, etc. were not on my radar. I knew of Dylan Carlson and Earth through his Nirvana connection but hadn’t spent much time with his discography. A friend played The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skulland I had a transformative experience, It was like a chamber in my brain was suddenly unlocked. “Rise to Glory” really stuck with me. There was something in the sound that reminded me of my youth and I became obsessed. I realized that not only could music be slow, but drone music could be beautiful. I also learned the art of ambience. I began really diving into the Southern Lord catalog and found many of my favorite bands because of this. Listening to Earth also helped shape my approach to music thereafter.
José González — In Our Nature
youtube
The same person who turned me on to Boards of Canada also showed me Zero 7, and I began listening to them daily on my drives to college campus my freshman year. I really loved the tracks “Left Behind” and “Today,” and realized that José González was singing and playing guitar. I quickly dove into his solo albums and realized he had just released In Our Nature. He had an upcoming date in Chicago, so I bought tickets and went with a friend. It was the first time in my life that I had driven myself to a show that I wanted to see, and I’ll always remember that night. There was something so romantic about the lighting in the city streets. José was mesmerizing on stage, I felt starstruck just being in the room. His presence as an artist is so humble, but larger than life all at the same time.
My Bloody Valentine — MBV
youtube
I had gotten into Loveless and the rest of My Bloody Valentine’s discography over the years, so when MBV finally was going to see the light of day, I was part of the mass surge that crashed their website, trying to purchase a copy. That was my first experience with waiting in a “digital line”, constantly refreshing to see if my cart had gone through and eagerly punching in my credit card number, in fear that all the copies would be bought before I could secure one. I’ll never forget downloading the mp3s once I had my copy ordered, and that first listen. While it may be a controversial take, this is my favorite My Bloody Valentine record — probably because I have my own personal memories tied to its release.
Nick Drake — Pink Moon
youtube
I watched a lot of MTV and VH1 when I was in grade school, and I remember seeing a special about Nick Drake. My friend Zac and I downloaded the song “Black Eyed Dog” because it was featured on the program, and really because we had never heard anything like it before. It took a few years for Nick Drake’s music to truly click with me, but once it did, it was really eye opening. It taught me that music could be minimal but impactful, and that less is more. Pink Moon is such a beautiful record. And now that I’ve become a huge fan of his as an artist, I understand what this record meant to his life. It’s mind-blowing to think that someone in their early 20s wrote music of this caliber. I wish he was still around today. I would have loved to see what the future held for him.
Nirvana — Nevermind
youtube
If you’ve ever read interviews I’ve done in the past, I often credit Nirvana with inspiring me to pursue music and shaping me into the person I am today. When I finally had my own television in my room, I can remember seeing imagery of Kurt Cobain on MTV and VH1 while flipping through the channels. I eventually figured out he was the front man of Nirvana, and after hearing “Come As You Are” on the radio one day, I convinced my mom to buy me a cassette copy of Nevermind. I was in fourth grade at the time, and soon, they became the only band I listened to until I got into middle school. Nirvana was everything to me, an obsession of my own. I started air-guitaring during this time, and it was really the first time in my life that playing music had occurred to me as a life path. When my friend Zac first put a guitar in my hands a few years later, we were learning Nirvana songs. Nowadays in Cloakroom, when I approach writing bass lines, I still reference Krist Novoselic’s playing on Nevermind.
Q And Not U — Different Damage
youtube
In high school, I was really into punk music and had started a few garage punk bands. But a friend showed me Q And Not U and it really opened my eyes to the underground indie music scene. Soon, I started my first “real” band, and No Kill Beep Beep was a huge influence on our sound. Different Damage ended up being my favorite record from the band though, and I’ll always associate listening to that record with playing my first out-of-town shows. I think this band, and this record especially, was way ahead of its time.
Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks — Sparkle Hard
youtube
Over the years, I’ve attempted to write music on my own, outside of a band setting with little success. But a few years back I began making documentary films with my father and I wrote the scores myself. That exercise turned into a side project called Documa, and I’ve been writing music on my own ever since. During that time, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks released Sparkle Hard and it really spoke to me. I love his guitar playing and approach to songwriting, and I love that he’s had such longevity as an artist. It really inspired me to work on my own guitar playing and take the music I write at home seriously.

Boris - Heavy Rocks (2022) (Album Review)
(Review #415, August 12th [2022]) Heavy Rocks is the latest studio album from Japanese experimental music outfit Boris. The third entry in their discography titled Heavy Rocks, the previous two records with this title were designed to be some of Boris' deepest and most serious dives into the world of metal. After releasing a dreadfully boring drone-based record with W earlier this year, Heavy Rocks is a more than worthy way to get the project back on track. Heavy Rocks '22 differs from its predecessors by being less reliant on classic stoner metal. While the overall tone of density and musical violence is still there in bulk, this entry in the Heavy Rocks series sees Boris tackle noise rock to a more noteworthy extent than they have in some time. This also means that the band are willing to work with a number of rock and metal subgenres that are affiliated with noise rock to some degree. This includes, but is not limited to, industrial-adjacent sounds as well as the Japanese hardcore punk scene. One could certainly argue that these are all sounds that Boris have dabbled with in the past. After all, fan-favorite albums from the band such as 2005's Pink have been at least partially attached to these same influences. However, Heavy Rocks '22 still manages to stand out from the Boris albums that came before it by coming across as a love letter to a number of different classic niches in hard rock and metal while simultaneously combining these sounds in a way that comes across as remarkably fresh even for the ever-evolving Boris. There are a number of minor details that assist in this self-distinction. The first half of Heavy Rocks '22, despite being at the very least relatively comparable to the first two Heavy Rocks albums albeit with a focus on different influences, heavily makes use of this. This is most prominently seen in the usage of the saxophone on songs like "Blah Blah Blah" and the album opening "She is Burning." Although the instrument is often very inconspicuous in nature, guest performer Kazuya Wakabayashi takes notes from the book of noise-based rock bands like Flipper by making the sax as uncontrollably abrasive as possible. This only adds to the predetermined chaos that is the blueprint for these songs. Beyond that, Wata's guitar work is always willing to deliver sounds occasionally worthy of being deemed post-metal while Atsuo and Takeshi's respective drumming and bass work are as strikingly vicious as ever. The second half of Heavy Rocks '22 is about as much of a 360 as Boris could possibly make without exiting the field of hard rock and metal. Up to the point that "Nosferatou" rolls around, the record is a reasonably straightforward Boris release that is utterly fantastic all the same. The aforementioned track takes up a brutally haunting drone metal sound that makes a stoner band like Kyuss look like a 50's doo-wop band in comparison. Soon follows a flurry of four more tracks that demonstrate influences bouncing between thrash metal, punk, experimental rock, and industrial. The industrial metal sonic aesthetics that are contained within "Ghostly Imagination" are especially noteworthy and something that would potentially make for an outstanding Boris album in full-length form. With all of this put into consideration, cohesion is a major factor in the success of Heavy Rocks '22. As excellent as all of these different tones and influences are, it would be easy for your average band to fail to incorporate them properly into a larger picture. However, Boris is anything but average. Despite Heavy Rocks '22 unpredictability (particularly during its second half), the entire record flows as a singular listening experience. Behind the walls of a variety of different musical operations is a common passion for manic performance. Even the final cut "(Not) Last Song," which strangely ends things off in an experimental singer/songwriter-esque manner, is a commendable and understandable wrap up to an otherwise devastatingly non-stop listening experience despite its abrupt end. In conclusion, Heavy Rocks '22 is arguably the best entry in the Heavy Rocks series of albums thus far. Some of Boris' best work has been through the filter of hard rock and metal; this record is no exception. With a colorful palette of influences and a love for energetic performing that never seems to die, the only issue that comes with Heavy Rocks '22 is Boris' questionable decision to not just call it Heavy Rocks 3.
Final Rating: 4.5/5 (Absolutely Amazing)
Essential Tracks: (Not) Last Song, Blah Blah Blah, Cramper, My Name is Blank, Question 1, Ruins, She is Burning

Okay, okay, so I saw the post about Taka singing and I thought of something
Ishida sings rock/metal
Okay first of all, I'm a firm believer that Taka listens to heavy metal. Like screamo levels of heavy metal. Ibuki's kinda stuff.
As with about 80% of the stuff Taka knows that isn't related to school, he learned about it from his HP friends. Because before meeting them, Taka was one of those "how can you focus while listening to music???" types. He never listened to anything while working. Not while studying, cleaning, or even working out. He does it all in dead silence.
So when Taka learns that Chihiro (and many of his other classmates) works with music playing, he's...less than happy about it. He feels like it soils one's focus, making them less productive. However, Mondo has been trying to teach him how to be more 'open minded' about things, so he's trying not to judge without testing the theory that it 'helps you focus'.
So he tries it. He tries classical music, but he ends up being so impressed with the skill behind the songs that he gets distracted, which isn't productive.
Then Leon decides to show him some of his prefered 'studying' music (translation: his "listen to music and half pay attention to homework" musis, but Taka doesn't know that).
It's...intense. Loud screaming, angry lyrics, and heavy drumming. As far as Kiyotaka can tell, it's more of loud noise than actual music.
It does have its benefits though. The screamed lyrics are so unrecognizable as human words to Taka that his brain doesn't even try to comprehend them. It all just becomes loud, incomprehensible noise. Not important enough to distract him, but enough to make sure nothing else can distract him.
So yeah, Taka ends up casually listening to some hardcore metal type music while studying and working out. For example, Igorrr's album, Savage Sinusoid. Just casually listening to some man screaming his head off while calmly preparing for an upcoming test.
And yes, Taka wouldn't call himself a fan of Ibuki's work, but he does find it useful as a focusing tool while studying. So when he and his friends go do karaoke, Ibuki's songs are the only ones he knows.
Taka is nothing if not respectful to the hard work of his classmates. So if he's going to sing one of Ibuki's songs, he's going to do it to the best of his ability. Which means a lot of screaming and swearing.
Imagine how surprising that would be. Because Mondo has even heard Chihiro throw out an angry swear word now and then, especially when something goes wrong with his coding. But to hear goody two shoes Taka drop a hard f bomb while screaming like a banshee? It's...an experience. Hiro thinks he's literally possessed.
#this is giving me aggretsuko vibes#good for Taka#he deserves it#kiyotaka ishimaru#danganronpa#is this me projecting my own studying music taste? yes#oops didn't mention ishida at all did I?#Ishida's just Taka but more intense right??#this counts#maybe#still not sure how to take Ishida#an ask tag
