Bang Chan

Chan as Marumofubiyori. I went through all the characters and I mean all of them and couldn't really decide one for Chan. It was between U*sa*ha*na and Marumofubiyori but I think the character fits him well.

Lee Minho

Minho as Chococat. I mean look at them. I know Kuromi is used to represent Minho but this is how I interpret them.

Seo Changbin

Changbin as Badz-Maru. The character gives off I know I'm cute but I can't take compliments. Again, I know My Melody is used to represent Changbin, giving him the pinky baby girl vibe but this is how I match them up.

Hwang Hyunjin

Hyunjin as Pau Pipo. Visual wise it matches, I'm not certain about other aspects as the details on certain characters are limited online. Pau Pipo does look like a cute little giraffe that represents Hyunjin well.

Han Jisung

Jisung as Corocorokuririn. It was a tie between this character and Risuru who is a squirrel. Basically, a 'VS' between a hamster and a squirrel. I went with Corocorokuririn just cause, both of them suit Jisung either way.

Lee Felix

Felix as Kabukinyantaro. Meowracha representation :] If you look up this character, all of them are so soft and fluffy. I couldn't help myself.

Kim Seungmin

Seungmin as Pochacco. He gives me more Pochacco vibes than PomPomPurin. More chaotic puppy than a caramel pudding puppy. There's actually an icon I found of Pochacco holding a gun and it's accurate to say the least.

Yang Jeongin

Jeongin as Pankunchi. It's a bread bear. This bear has bread with it constantly. Aggretsuko would fit more visually in terms of Foxl.Ny but I can't imagine Metal Singer Jeongin when the Trot Jeongin exists. He could pull it off, who knows but for now, I see him as this character.

Digimon Data Squad (Savers) - Episode 5

I really enjoyed this one. Good relationship building as well as exploring Masaru and Tohma's complementary fighting tactics. So far there's no big bad or overarching plot in sight, which is fine. I like a slow build up. Gives us more time to learn about everyone/the world.

Notes:

I like Yoshino's "tired office lady" vibes lol. She should take up screamo karaoke like Aggretsuko. I hope she gets to be more than just the lady in the chair tho :/

This episode starts with a totally unnecessary flashback sequence recapping the previous episode. Hope that doesn't become a habit.

We get our first look at the digital world. It doesn't look all that creative, but there were some nice backgrounds. The ice coliseum reminded me of Angemon's castle from Digimon World.

Masaru has Daisuke's "leap before you look" fighting style. He and Tohma have the brains/brawn dynamic. It's been done a million times, but it's still fun to watch.

More ship bait moments like Masaru helping Tohma walk and Tohma smiling/blushing around him. One of the comments on the site I'm watching this was "gae" which made me laugh.

Why did Drimogemon have a weird seizure before digivolving? First he grew giant for no apparent reason and now this? I can't tell if they're just doing random stuff or building up to some reveal...

Agumon mentions that he's been at DATS his whole life and has never been to the digital world. I think technically they mentioned that before but it didn't hit me until now. So...he was born at DATS? Or did he lose his memory? Gonna need more backstory there

It was a little dark when Masaru cheerfully yelled "die!!" at Digmon lol. That was cut out of the dub...

Aggretsuko

First and foremost, "anime" is a bit of a misnomer for Aggretsuko. Technically, it is, since it's animated and Japanese but it gives off major BoJack vibes. And I actually enjoyed consuming something rather different for this class. Refreshing! As soon as I saw the description, I knew I'll love it. It's a great watch, especially if you're stuck in a 9-to-5 grind. You don't have to be in a corporate job to understand the struggles. Modern workplaces are pretty much the same everywhere, with their endless bureaucracy and office politics.

Good Girl

The show really nails the experience of being a woman in a male-dominated workplace. Retsuko's boss is a classic example of a toxic male boss who makes inappropriate jokes. And Retsuko? She just takes it. She bottles up all her anger and resentment, which is something a lot of us can relate to. Retsuko, as a young woman in a corporate environment, is expected to be submissive, agreeable, and supportive. Her character is often portrayed as the 'ideal' office worker, smiling through adversity and avoiding conflict. This is a classic example of the 'good girl' archetype, a role that many women are socialized to play. However, the show subverts this expectation by revealing Retsuko's inner turmoil and anger, highlighting the dissonance between her public persona and her private emotions.

Toxic Male Boss

The male characters in Aggretsuko often embody toxic masculinity. Retsuko's boss, in particular, represents the stereotypical aggressive, domineering male leader. His behavior creates a hostile work environment, reinforcing the power imbalance between men and women in the workplace. The show effectively critiques the normalization of such behavior and its impact on female employees.

The Escape

Aggretsuko's choice to express her anger through death metal is a powerful statement about the limitations of traditional female expression. By adopting a traditionally male-coded form of aggression, Retsuko challenges gender norms and reclaims her agency. Her private performances become a form of resistance, allowing her to process her emotions and find a sense of empowerment outside of the constraints of her professional role.

The show doesn't really give you all the answers, but it does a great job of capturing the frustrations of office life. It's a satire of corporate culture, but it also acknowledges the challenges of finding a better way. Maybe the creators were a bit cautious about criticizing Japanese corporate culture, nonetheless, it lets us know we are not alone in these struggles.

What's your favorite game of the Animal Crossing series? I'm kinda a newbie at it so I've only got a copy of New Horizons, but man is that game awesome and adorable. I honestly don't mind Raymond as a villager, but I don't get the huge hype about him, though he gives me huge Aggretsuko character vibes with the office worker persona (or should I say fursona hehehe). My favorite would honestly be Merengue or Dobie, since they're both very unique in terms of design and aren't as overrated.

personally I have a soft spot for New Leaf because it was my first animal crossing game I played :] And yeah, I totally get what you mean about Raymond 😭 like he's fine, but he's not as great as everyone makes him out to be.

And as for my favourite character, Nan is absolutely the best. I may be a bit biased, however, be she and I were like best friends when I played New Leaf. We always sent letters back and forth to each other, and I would talk to her multiple times per day.

Luka's Melody?

I blame Luka's empathetic melody. It's probably a symbolism that he is very empathetic and can tell what they are by a glimpse OR he can hear their actual selves within melody.

Luka can be really good and still have flaws. Sure, he may have upper advantage, but people can never stay on the top. People will have to fallen down eventually. Magic can be beautiful or really bad. Sometimes, uneven music can be utterly beautiful. It depends on the days too! There are plenty of headcanons you can do with two routes (or you can do two in one, which will be in an upcoming melody post.) Anyways, Luka's melody, I always imagined is a soft violins slurs into a memorizing tone whilst the metal rock in the background, which reflects his soft core within rough edges (also his father is Jagged Stone and the king of rock.)

There are a reason why he didn't want to follow. He loves singing, like Aggretsuko. But, following in his father's foot steps makes him feels like he might be that person to leave his father. Sometimes irrational feeling is reasonable.

And it doesn't feel too him. The melody is super understandable. He doesn't know how to find himself into the tuning/repairing business. Maybe, this is a way to take care of himself. When his sister's girlfriend joined the band, that means repairing instruments and understanding.

Whenever he gets angry, the soft violin turned a more tensed and a bit more disorientated, while the instruments sparked and metal hitting each beats.

Usually it's a silent stemming anger. The soft violin starts tensing disorientating way, while the metal drums hits like a heart beat.

But, when it's a outraged. The violins played super fast while the metal music streaming. Sometimes, it can go really bad that he gets literal consequences afterwards (Losing control of his emotions - what if he has anger issues.)

Luka gives me those vibes who always gets rejected, yet it in tune within himself. "It's okay."He knows it's okay to feel emotions. He writes poetry too. He is a poet even from his heart.

He will act when it's for others. But within himself, he won't. Because, he's used to rejection. Which will allow him to vent in the music room and does metal music, which is why people encouraged him to follow in his footsteps.

That one is more in the backburner but I started working on it after Season 2, because I was just so furious about how not dating towards marriage apparently meant that both Retsuko and Tadano would give up on their friendship, also. It just struck me as deeply unfair at the time, y'know?

A lot of it is Retsuko grappling with amatonormativity, essentially -- she now knows what she wants in a relationship and Tadano is not it, but she was in love with him, they were friends before they were in a relationship, and while the relationship is kind of take-it-or-leave-it in her head, she probably wouldn't take him back even if he suddenly got on board with the idea of marrying her... she does miss his company and friendship. It's a challenging idea for her, because her mental image of her life is so regimented by what is "expected" of her as an adult woman.

And Tadano is kind of in the same bag, really, he's not stupid and after sitting with the rejection for a bit, he realises that he was being unfair and doing the thing where he rejects perfectly good advice because it doesn't appeal to him. He feels like a dickhead, and that compounds with the fact that he also still misses Retsuko, and having already made a mess of things by trying to pressure her into conforming to his feelings before, doubles down on trying to maintain a respectful distance to her, trying to remain in control.

You'll see that both of those flaws are in fact the thing the two of them were already working on in their friendship before they started dating.

So a lot of it is just the two of them running into each other repeatedly, awkward as all hell, spending all of five minutes talking during which both of them relax because they do vibe and they do like each other, leaving the interaction feeling better than they did going into it and then getting home and fucking crying about it because neither of them realise they don't miss the relationship, they miss their friend.

They do eventually get the memo about having fucked up a perfectly good thing by trying to date about it and understand with their adult emotions that the positive influence they had on each other -- Retsuko pushing Tadano towards finding joy through compassion, Tadano's broad-mindedness allowing her space to express her feelings more honestly -- that doesn't have to go away just because they're not dating. That's called being friends. That is a perfectly normal thing to be with someone.

I am liking Call It Love way more than I expected from the initial trailer. This drama is quite pretty. It certainly isn't as depressing as the trailer made it out to be. I'm intrigued by our lead couple and how this love story might unfold. It's nice to see Lee Sung Kyung in a more serious and down-to-earth role.

I am in love with the lead couple and most of the cast, yet here I am absolutely flabbergasted by the murder mystery plot that has finally been revealed. To be blunt, this part of the story falls very short and makes little sense to the rest of the drama. It's trying to balance too many genres at once. The murder mystery is distracting and absurd. I mostly resent these pieces of this drama since it takes away from the cute romance-y and found family moments. Last week's episodes were sorely disappointing.

I am always down for a historical gender bender. Parts of it give me some Love in the Moonlight vibes. It's a bit more serious in tone, and our Prince is super broody. Though I haven't seen much from Jeon So Na before, I appreciate the energy and spunk she brings to her role.

Based on the drama with the screenwriter for season 1, I am concerned about season 2. It's nice to see Lee Je Hoon back on television again. The first week offers a bright, colorful opening for the season with amps up its larger-than-life tone.

Okay, okay, so I saw the post about Taka singing and I thought of something

Okay first of all, I'm a firm believer that Taka listens to heavy metal. Like screamo levels of heavy metal. Ibuki's kinda stuff.

As with about 80% of the stuff Taka knows that isn't related to school, he learned about it from his HP friends. Because before meeting them, Taka was one of those "how can you focus while listening to music???" types. He never listened to anything while working. Not while studying, cleaning, or even working out. He does it all in dead silence.

So when Taka learns that Chihiro (and many of his other classmates) works with music playing, he's...less than happy about it. He feels like it soils one's focus, making them less productive. However, Mondo has been trying to teach him how to be more 'open minded' about things, so he's trying not to judge without testing the theory that it 'helps you focus'.

So he tries it. He tries classical music, but he ends up being so impressed with the skill behind the songs that he gets distracted, which isn't productive.

Then Leon decides to show him some of his prefered 'studying' music (translation: his "listen to music and half pay attention to homework" musis, but Taka doesn't know that).

It's...intense. Loud screaming, angry lyrics, and heavy drumming. As far as Kiyotaka can tell, it's more of loud noise than actual music.

It does have its benefits though. The screamed lyrics are so unrecognizable as human words to Taka that his brain doesn't even try to comprehend them. It all just becomes loud, incomprehensible noise. Not important enough to distract him, but enough to make sure nothing else can distract him.

So yeah, Taka ends up casually listening to some hardcore metal type music while studying and working out. For example, Igorrr's album, Savage Sinusoid. Just casually listening to some man screaming his head off while calmly preparing for an upcoming test.

And yes, Taka wouldn't call himself a fan of Ibuki's work, but he does find it useful as a focusing tool while studying. So when he and his friends go do karaoke, Ibuki's songs are the only ones he knows.

Taka is nothing if not respectful to the hard work of his classmates. So if he's going to sing one of Ibuki's songs, he's going to do it to the best of his ability. Which means a lot of screaming and swearing.

Imagine how surprising that would be. Because Mondo has even heard Chihiro throw out an angry swear word now and then, especially when something goes wrong with his coding. But to hear goody two shoes Taka drop a hard f bomb while screaming like a banshee? It's...an experience. Hiro thinks he's literally possessed.

Okay but outside the anatomy there’s stuff like (studying art styles I already like): a thick dark outer lineart with thinner, often colored inner lineart is NICE.

I like bright, saturated colors and also Cool colors. I like using weird colors for unexpected things. Love seeing pops of purple and orange on water, blueish trees, pink grass and green skies. But it’s all still clearly representative of what they’re meant to be.

Rim lighting is DOPE.

I like limbs that taper at the joints, though I’m not sure how taper to get before it looks weird (more of that ‘u gotta study real anatomy to stylize that anatomy’)

Big heads often important for big expressions but once I got the ‘1/3 between the shoulders’ in my head, my brain like ‘okay head has to fit between the shoulders’. Most animations meanwhile got heads as wide as the shoulders or wider it’s fYNE,,, making the neck thicker is more my style than pencil necks however, so that’s,,, still hard.

Alphonse Mucha and the SYMBOLIC DETAILS. Love a dash of organic and then symmetric details. I love the Borders. And ofc King of the ‘thicker border, more fluid thin and colorful inner lines’.

JTHM was very detailed for black n white and that’s somethin that also intrigue me. I don’t always like to color things. So that my work could still look POLISHED in black n white would be nice. The way the lines are drawn, thick and jagged, thin yet cuffed with chunky details (say very skinny long boots, but they have THICK buckles). Plusss… jhonen a master of ‘simple headshape’. I would love a simple headshape I can draw from many angles. But it’s a big ask. Especially for multiple dif headshapes. But the Big Bug Eyes, Small Chin, easily diversified but often simplified to a triangle nose, all very nice.

She-Ra probably too realism for what I really want (more fun). But it’s very much an idealized ‘semi-realism but cute’. Love the lil blush mark everyone gets across their face. Diverse body types. Angela and Glimmer main color scheme queens I love. Perhaps I’m more interested in the shows sci-fantasy aesthetic. The backgrounds? Oh god chef kiss. Inspo for hair perhaps. I really wanna draw hair but it’s HARD. show simplifies a lot of beautiful hairstyles across many many characters. It’s got room for study.

Tbh. Aggretsuko may just be a good study. Dark thick outer lines. Big expressive heads n faces. Still pretty detailed and cute!

C-could you believe—- The Boondocks. Study how they draw afros and the like. Diverse body types. I really like how they draw clothes and shade in stuff in general (the sort of sharp shading I feel from stuff like jthm too). It’s crisp. Loved Riley’s outfit when he was sellin chocolate (his hood looked like a cloud it was so fluffy). Also EYEBROWS SO GOOD?? How do they do it. (Makes me think of a tumblr artist but I’ll just say Sad Catholic Dog and y’all who know, know). It’s the definition of the forehead muscles ALONG with sharp, defined brows.

OFC. XIAOLIN SHOWDOWN. MY BELOVED. so smooth. So unique in shape language. The swirls everywhere. Hidden yin Yang symbols. Everything given a traditional Chinese aesthetic even if it’s not in China (how often they fly to like, America, but it’s still red tile roofs and that unique palanquin shape, everywhere). Thick lines, I love how they draw hands and how POINTY the shoulders are. Heads just Round as Hell, EASY PEASY.

Scavengers reign biology my beloved. Lines are uniformly thin, colors seem flat at times, but it’s still deep and intriguing. Someone said they draw beards weird but boi I wish I could draw beards at all so BEARD REF.

There’s a ton of shows I haven’t watched that I know would be good for study but I always take my time watching shows. (kipo how long will my brain neglect you, THE COLORS AND VIBE ARE SO UP MY ALLEY, but perhaps it’s the fear of distracting hyperfixation that keep me on a leash).

Lookin to expand style and watched video on it like. ‘Pick features u find important and highlight/focus on em then. Shrink stuff that’s less important’. BIG EYES. BIG MOUTH. LONG LIMBS. FUN HAIR. At least a moderately noteworthy nose zone cause I don’t want em Gone. I WANT. Anime but not it seems. (Always on that semi realism-cartoony-realism triangle somewhere close to semi-real and cartoony. Which is where anime is!!)

But I’m also curious how this idea would correlate to. Drawing animals. Longer limb kitties. Cheshire-like faces. Maybe. Maybe.
