mixed feelings about dd2 but i do love that jester strikes a fruity little pose when he gets buffed

#i enjoy it as a darkest dungeon game (characters‚ enemy design‚ combat for the most part) but i don't. think it meshes as a roguelite #its just too slow and punishing for a genre that demands back-to-back replays and consistent growth #80% of upgrades are laughably minor and/or actively detrimental. so it's hard to feel like grinding out runs is worth it #the choice to lock character moves behind progression is especially baffling because it means everyone's kits feel half-finished and clunky #“but isn't darkest dungeon a series about being ground to dust in the maws of an uncaring universe” i mean sure.#but these issues don't make me feel nihilistic they just make me annoyed with the game design #also im still mad that they woobified all the characters. let them be actually morally dubious again. please.#except antiquarian i think antiquarian is perfect. keep stabbing me in the back queen i love you #beepbeep.txt #this time on: putting all my thoughts in the tags because making it the actual post feels too confrontational

bobette is kinda. boring to play

#never thought i'd be saying this abt one of the mains bc they're all really well designed game-wise but yeah bobette is like the worst main #imo ofc. but she feels so bland #dandy’s world #dandys world yapping #the others have pretty well-defined roles (distractor‚ healer‚ extractor‚ etc) but bobette just feels like she should've been a normal #toon. even two extractors (shelly and vee) have wildly different playstyles and both feel fun and unique #like....#u wanna play a toon that can both extract sometimes and distract? pick sprout and use dogplush/extracting trinket or veemote #you wanna play just a fast extractor? shelly w/ dogplush or other speed boost trinket/skillcheck trinket #also her passive and active don't really feel like they mesh with her kit?#with her passive‚ you can't really get close enough to act like astro for your distractor bc of her stealth #with her active...its just connie. its just different connie.#ig that tracks with the other christmas toons also having copy abilities #also you can't do the other astro thing with her circle and help people get into the elevator when they're low stamina because 1. you cant #see their stamina and 2. the stamina refill is so fucking slow #& then all you have left is her design (which is adorable!) and her stats which are. fine. they're just fine and they feel like every other #normal toon and not a fucking main #atleast her design and skin is cute!#and the fact you have to play to floor fucking twenty with this boring ass bland ass character! wow so amazing dev team!#i dont like hate her. shes not connie levels of how much i dont like her but she just doesn't feel like a main

I've been thinking about how many tarantula species have the reputation as being aggressive/defensive and hard to take care of. I wonder how many of that is because of how people think of their size requirements, I think too many exotic pet owners in general are basically animal hoarders and go with the bare minimum size requirements possible because they want to have as many pets in one space as possible. I see people recommend 10-20 gallon aquariums for Goliath Birdeaters and just with how large they get, I don't think 10-20 gallons is enough for even bare minimum. They can get to be around a foot across with their leg span, I personally wouldn't have one in anything less than a 40 gallon tank, maybe 30 gallons if yours is on the smaller side. But I think people know tarantulas need at least 3x their leg span and then choose to ignore it with really large tarantulas because they don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on getting a tank that size and making a custom lid/buying one.

#I almost bought a pinkfoot Goliath Birdeater at the reptile expo but then I was like they grow too fast and get too big #For me to be buying one without a 20 gallon tank set up already because even though it was a baby it was still huge #And my 20 gallon tank is in a garage being frozen and has a lid with mesh wire top which means I can't use it for a tarantula #I'm gonna see about saving for a tarantula specific enclosure for my GBB. Because when captain got on the large wire lid of her tank #I got scared and had to very carefully get her off the top of the lid so she didn't fall or break a leg off #I need to make a tarantula first aid kit still. I have a first aid kit for my cat I should have one for my tarantula too #my posts
