Lucanis Dellamorte x Mermaid/Siren de Riva Rook

Background Lore Headcannons Part 1

Almost nothing about Lucanis here but I’m posting what I want soooo…

This is kind of incomplete but…sorry.

The most common name for my Rook(besides Rook) is Thala. It’s tied to unwritten background. But her name is Thala.

-- So according to a codex in Inquisition, Ghilan’nain all variations of monsters and creatures land, air, and sea.

- Between the more monstrous creatures and the elegant creatures like the Halla were the sea/merfolk.

- She viewed them as an attempt to improve upon elven people. This would also mean that at some point there were creatures similar to Harpies from mythology.

- So in the beginning, the Elves and the sea/merfolk had a good relationship. As well, because they were an improvement not a replacement, merfolk frequently came to land with elves, to live and love.

- This actually leads to Solas clocking Rook the first time they meet in the fade. He would have had dealing with them, even before trying to coax them to help him in his rebellion. But we’ll get to that.

- Sea/Merfolk look basically the same as Elven people. But not exactly the same. They tend to be taller, needing the longer limbs to better propel themselves through the water(longer legs on land translate to longer tails in water) They’re also generally thicker in build. They are able to go down to deep depths in the oceans, thus naturally need more insulation. Their ears possess a similar shape although the sea/merfolk have short wider ears that come to a point unlike a lot of elves with longer thinner ears.

- While the transition between land and sea was not without some discomfort, with regularity and balance, it could be a sustainable way of living. However, too long outside of the sea(it has to be full submersion in a sizable body of water) could make the transition back extremely painful if not dangerous since their bodies would have to make more lasting adaptations.

- While many factors lead to the sea/merfolk turning reclusive and relegating themselves, the largest factor was Ghilan’nain began killing her creatures in order to ascend to godhood. In the codex, it mentions that over three days she killed all but the “monsters of air” she presented to Andruil as a gift, Halla, and deep sea creatures.(I believe I read somewhere she had a dislike/fear for deep depths? I’m gonna roll with it.)

- The sea/merfolk had already sensed discontent on land with the various conflicts and issues within Elvhenan, thus became scarcer on land already.

- However, when Ghilan’nain began her slaughter, quickly the sea/merfolk made a decision to flee far and into deeper depths for the sake of their people. While some who remained on land may have been killed, the folk remained after Ghilan’nain’s ascension.

- The sea/merfolk settled in further edges of the Amaranthine Ocean.

- From my headcannon standpoint, the folk are inspired by IRL Ancient Greek mythology along with their language being reminiscent of Greek similarly to how Antivan/Orlesian borrow from IRL languages.

- On the topic of communication, while the sea/merfolk have some hand signs they use to communicate, there is more to them than just fins and underwater living. Sea/merfolk do have siren like qualities. Don’t ask because I don’t know to biological science but the way they can speak/sing/ect. is changeable as well. When under the water, their voices somehow pierce through the water. They do have better hearing but it mostly their voices. They can utilize their “underwater voices” on land but it has to be more intentional versus it being natural/reflexive in water.

- Not all of them could be considered Sirens. Some can sing beautifully, and it would have an ethereal effect if heard by nonfolk, but not be considered a Siren. Like with Elves, Humans, and Qunari, the folk have potential for magic. Some have it some done. That’s how Thedas Sirens work. As with the magic on land, with the veil did limit them. Outside of Sirens, some can access very small reserves of magic to use in tiny bursts, most easily to calm instead of entice/ influence.

- That is where Rook falls into. She does not have more than a small spark of magic that can, on very rare occasions allow her to calm others. Typically she uses to get out of situations, essentially if she gets noticed she calms them until they don’t care.

- Speaking of Rook, let’s move onto her past.

- Her backstory does have shades of “The Little Mermaid”. She got into a disagreement with her widowed father(NOT a king but prt of a noble gentry and like I could go into social structure of Thedas mermaids underwater life but like we’re here for Lucanis/Rook and we’re like two miles from that exit as it is)

- She would have barely been 13 when her father would have started to put expectations and pressure on her. She bucked and fought against it until a very large blow up happened. Her father said things he shouldn’t have, and she fled.

- Because she was functionally a child, she did not think through her flight and just kept going. To the point where, when her anger settled a little and she slowed down, she was lost. Very very lost and far. While some of the folk did go to land from time to time, interacting with humans rarely, she would have been a sheltered child. And even if she were older, her father’s status would have kept her from it anyway.

- Eventually after wandering she got close to Rivian. She tried to come up to land, only knowing she could. However the pirate/raider culture immediately frightened her so she kept going. By the time she stumbled on Treviso. She was lost, tired, and confused. It would have taken a while to swim that far and essentially like surviving in the woods. She would have had little sleep, some food but not what she was used to/enough to sustain the activity.

- It was probably around 1amish when she would have washed up on land, probably if not in the actual drowned district, a very similar place where is fairly isolated from the bustle of the actual city.

- In part because of the toll on her body and in part because it was the first time she had ever been on land, the transition would have been extremely difficult and painful for Rook. She would have made noise and eventually lost consciousness.

- Fortunately for her, a young crow Viago de Riva(about 18yo)hears her struggle and comes upon her. She would have looked atrocious like she had escaped the worst.

- I believe(and maybe there is lore to contradict me but I clearly dont totally care) that Viago had this very caring kind center. So he find a girl who looks in a bad way, he’d try to help her. So he wraps her up in his cloak and carries her back to crow healers.

“Wait, wait, you come from the land of the gods?!”

“So, like, do you know Zeus? What about Hades?! Are YOU a demigod?!”

Horrified when Yuu tells him about actual Greek myths.

The NRC Student Body:

“Wait, so your history class is just learning about gods and wars? That’s so metal.”

Everyone is obsessed with Greek food. "Can you make tzatziki? What about moussaka?!"

Tries to pronounce Greek words. Fails spectacularly.

“You celebrate New Year by throwing a pomegranate on the floor?”

Crowley:

"Ah, Prefect! Coming from a land so rich in history, you must surely be honored to be in my school!"

Thinks Greece is all about gods and overlooks the modern era.

"No, I will not let you break plates in the cafeteria."

“Your culture has so many rules and customs. You should have no issue following mine!”

Furious when Yuu insists tea is best with honey and lemon instead of milk.

Cult of the Human: Character Breakdown

Hey Guys! Things are finally settling down so I’m starting to get things ready for my yandere Twisted Wonderland series inspired by @kiame-sama’s Humans Are Extinct series. My story is meant to take inspiration from her series and the game Cult of the Lamb. Watch the human be thrust into a new world and have to deal with a world full of obsessed Yanderes. This entry is meant to break down what monsters each of the characters will be and a bit of the idea behind that.

Reasoning:

Heartslabyul- 

Ace is a Pooka as they are mischevious nature spirits. I see him as the rabbit of Heartslabyul, he playful and full of energy, but he will use his power cruelly if he deems necessary. Plus after finding out his unique magic I feel that a creature that copy the looks of others is spot on

Deuce is another story. I wanted a bunny or rabbit due to Deuce’s bunny day card, but I was looking for something that could fit his ready to fight nature. Thus, the Wolpertinger, a cute lil bunny with antlers, wings, and fangs. Looks cute but can go for the throat!

Riddle’s adherents to rules inspired this choice. Lots of myths go over the rules fairies have for their food, parties, homes, etc. I like the idea that Riddle didn’t quite get the playful nature most fairies do with the rules due to his mother. I see him as a flower/flora fairy, his home being a lovely rose bush. 

Cater’s encantado is similar to a selkie, coming from the encantado dolphins in South America. I envision Cater’s water form as more like a mermaid than a full dolphin. The encantado are supposed to be supernaturally gorgeous men, but I feel like that works well with Cater’s established issues with his ‘true’ self. So many see him as just a pretty face so he just keeps up the illusion.

Trey is textbook definition a Brownie. He’s helpful, cooks, cleans, and takes care of others. But I have seen some stories say that when sufficiently pissed off a Brownie can turn into a Boggart. I like to think this fits Trey quite nicely as he is scary when he gets serious. Since I don’t know if these stories are myth accurate though (I found mixed info online) I decided to make him both. His Brownie dad seduced his Boggart mom by just taking care of her an refusing to give up.

Savanaclaw- 

I like Jack as a werewolf, it fits nice but I decided to change it up a little. Sköll in Norse mythology is the son of Fenrir and chases the sun as it sets. In one of my friends D&D campaigns they made Sköll a race of celestial wolves that help lead the way for the stars at night. Very loyal, very strong at night, but weak during the day and need a pack with other creatures to help them.

I’m sorry I tried to find anything else that might fit, but Ruggie is 1000% a gnoll. It just fits him perfectly! I even found pics of a cute one selling his wares and just went, Ruggie would so do that to make a buck.

With Leona I do see how Nemean Lion works for his status as a ruler, but I feel like sphynx fits so much better. Leona is so much smarter than he pretends to be. Sphinx like to play with their food in some myths I’ve read and that reminds me of Leona’s plan for the tournament. Not to mention lots of the art I’ve seen decorates the sphinx in tons of gold and jewels. 

Octavinelle-

For the sea trio I wanted to really lean into the monster inspiration. Not only are they mermen still, but they are a monster out size. Descendents of the great monsters Scylla do Charybdis they can tear apart full ships and devour large beasts. I see the tweels circling and creating a whirlpool or teeth like Charybdis, while Azul hides in a cave and picks off any escaping like Scylla. Makes them an even deadlier trio! 

Scarabia- 

I went looking for a creature to reflect Kalim’s cheerful nature and maybe his love of music. I was lucky to find the Shadhavar, a unicorn-like creature said to bring joy to those around it. The horn on its head is hollow and is supposed to play the most beautiful sounds. Not to mention stories of kings and other royalty paying lots of gold to try and get one in their collection. 

Jamil on the other hand is a Naga, as it fits his personality and name to a tee. I’m thinking of basing him off a sand viper but I am still looking at options. 

Pomfiore-

Epel’s connection with apples is what I wanted to focus on. So I went with a simple apple tree dryad/tree nymph. 

Rook’s nature to hunt put one thing in mind for me, a headless horseman/huntsman, also known as a Dullahan. Rook refused to give up the hunt in life, or in death (joking). Rook seems to have a poisonous smoke wafting from his neck when his head is not attached (courtesy of Vil).

Vil is inspired by the original sirens or Greek myth (bird women also sometimes classified with harpies) and the more modern idea of sirens as more mermaid-like. Either way his beauty and voice draw others in, either to their doom or to heap praise upon him. But do NOT underestimate Vil, both sides of his family are viciously savage when scorned. 

Ignihyde- 

For Idia and Ortho I mixed Will-o’-wisps and a local legend of ghost lights. They are meant to be benevolent, leading lost souls home or the dead to the afterlife. But to not ever try to harm them, their fire can burn your very soul out of existence. Feel like this can really work with Idia not liking being near others (always floating just out of reach) and Ortho’s helpful nature. 

Diasomnia- 

Originally I was going for a more crocodilian monster, but then I saw Kobolds in the D&D manual. The fact that some play them off as worshiping dragons, being brash and loud, not always the most socially aware… So does Sebek know he’s a Kobold?

For Silver I thought about the Baku for a sec, but I feel like a Nightmare centaur is just perfect for Silver. Pulls on his equestrian training and his unique magic. Though instead of spreading nightmares I imagine he would fight them off. 

Lilia is a vampire bat fae, not really much different than he is in the original game. 

Malleus is also pretty similar to how he is in game. I plan to lean into how his type of dragon is different in my world and how he has more bird tendencies from his father, not to mention play with his demon heritage.

Staff- 

For Crowley I wanted to really focus on his desire to share information. He may not be a great headmage in game but he has a slightly different role in my story. I made him a Crow Herold, basically a spirit of knowledge that tries to pass it on like how crows teach their young.

Crewel needs his coat, selkie can not be beat. I know there are other tales of creature taking off their coat/skin to reveal a person beneath, but selkies just felt more like they fit Crewel (especially with how brutal seals and sea lions can be). 

Sam is a deal maker, a business man, he will get you what you ask as long as you pay the price. He is a crossroads demon who is trying to get people to see that demons stick to their deals. They have more in common with the rule following fae and fairies than most like to admit. 

Trien’s long live and knowledge of history feels most important to my story so I wanted a creature known for their intelligence. He started off as a Griffin before he shifted to a Hippogriff due to my story changing. He is calm and kind, very nurturing, but do keep in mind he still has claws.

Vargas is a Minotaur, strong, proud, and bullheaded. He can be kind, especially to the younger creatures, but he can have a hairpin trigger at times.

Others-

Grim is a chimera, though he may look like an odd cat creature now, he will grow more and more of his features over time. Right now he has some tiny bat wings and his tail has fangs (but not a full snakes head).

 Rollo is a phoenix, as he needs an association with fire, but I felt like the phoenix makes his story more tragic. He can survive what his brother could not and it haunts him to this very day. 

Fellow is a Huli Jing, while he may not be outright malicious he is a trickster and he will defend his brother to the death. He has many tricks but his magic is not the strongest.

I see Gino as a young bakeneko. Fellow is helping him learn to control his shape shifting and illusions, but the lack of voice makes some of his magic useless or difficult. 

Chenya on the other hand is an oddity among his species. Most matagots are black cats so Chenya’s colorful coat stands out. He quite likes that fact but does wonder where it came from. He’s seen as mostly a household spirit, but do remember matagots can bring ruin when necessary. 

Neige felt like he needed a cute creature that is more often overlooked. Pixies and sprites can be cute and are usually associated with light and whimsy, but they do have plenty of stories of leading others astray and attacking. Neige is genuinely sweet and wants the best for others, especially for the dwarves in his care, but he will fight when needed. 

Skully as a revenant just makes sense for me. A spirit who can never pass on, drifting in and out of places. He usually sticks around the area where he died, feeling lost anywhere else. It is unsure if Skully was a human in his past life or one of the other human-like creatures since he can’t really remember too much of his past. 

The Great Seven-

The Queen of Hearts (named Cordelia) is a mix of Flora Fae and Tinker Fairy. Flora Fae comes from the great amount of flowers and other flora in Alice in Wonderland. She has a tie to all of the all of the plant life, and like Riddle her odd rules. Tinker fairy ties into Disney lore for fairies like Tinkerbell. They build and craft things, leading to her building her queendom. 

Scar is a sphinx just like his descendents, but he has Nemean Lion mixed in making him so much stronger and near invincible. 

Ursula was born a simple Cecaelia but through hard work and magical practice she became a Scylla. So big and so terrifying that no one dared challenge her kingdom.

Jafar on the other hand, had to hide his Basalik lineage for a while, as many still saw them as wild beasts. He proved to his people that while they had deadly abilities beyond that of their naga cousins, they could be just as amiable as the other snakes.

Grimhilde is a raven harpy, with feathers so black they make the night sky look grey. But when you look closely you see a rainbow of colors as her feathers shine like jewels. While most can not tell of her banshee ancestry by appearance she is said to have  fought of invaders with her deathly wail. Her people still called her fairest of all after seeing her old hag form for she was beautiful no matter the appearance.

Hades is like Scar, he matches his descendants, but he was more. On top of being a will-o-wisp he was a powerful fire fae, some think maybe even an infernal. His fires blazed so hot that he is said to have melted an entire army.

Maleficent’s a dragon fae like normal, but I also added Celestial fae. Said to be born of the new moon she holds a great relationship with the night. Some even say she was the first nocturnal fae to have woken from the wild.

"You aren't going to get anywhere from just starring at him from wayyyy back here" Nancy said randomly appearing behind Eddie in the water.

"Jesus warn someone next time or wear a bell" he said glancing at her for a second before looking at the merman that was laying on the rook a few waves away.

"Me warning you won't make you go talk to the merman you've been stalking" she snickers.

"I am not stalking him! He just keeps running into me" he said swimming down into the ocean so his eyes are only visible, "without knowing"

Nancy rolls her eyes, "just go talk to him" she says waving her hands in the man's direction, "he's sitting right over there"

"Did you forget merpeople don't really like sirens? Or do you need a reminder" Eddie spits at her.

It was true, sirens and merpeople aren't the friendliness to each other. But when there is only so much ocean that's liveable you make things work.

Still, sirens and merpeople don't really cross paths, and especially don't fall in love with each other.

That would cause so many problems.

"Its not my fault you fell in love with a mer-" she stops mid word watching another figure come out the water and start talking to the man they were watching, "maid. Wow"

Eddie rolls his eyes, "that's ovbisouly not a mermaid it's a- oh. Ohhh" he smirks, "seems like I'm not the only one who likes merpeople huh?"

They watch as the 2 mermaids interact.

"She's so beautiful" Nancy says, "we definitely should go talk to them"

"After you Wheeler" she doesn't move.

"Maybe we should just watch them for a little longer, not stalking, just admiring"

He rolls his eyes again, "and you call me weird"

He falls silent when she shushes him.

ROOK HUNTSMAN, MALLEUS DRACONIA, THE TWEALS…? : A mermaid captures a human, wanting to experiment on their unique physiology.

KALIM AL-ASIM, IDIA SHROUD, ACE TRAPPOLA, DEUCE SPADE. : A mermaid and a human finding a common ground in their shared passions or interests / The mermaid and the human are both outcasts in their respective societies, but they find solace and comfort in eachother's presence.

KALIM AL-ASIM, MALLEUS DRACONIA, AZUL ASHENGROTTO, VIL SCHOENHEIT, RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS : A human explorer stumbles upon an underwater kingdom inhabited by mermaids and falls in love with a mermaid prince.

EPEL FELMIER, RUGGIE BUCCHI, NEIGE LEBLANCHE (hear me out..), SILVER : A human finds a wounded mermaid washed ashore and takes care of him.

TREY CLOVER, ORTHO SHROUD (platonic !), JAMIL VIPER ..? : A mermaid rescues a drowning human from a shipwreck.

VIL SCHOENHEIT, CATER DIAMOND, AZUL ASHENGROTTO ..? : A siren lures humans into the water with his captivating voice, and a romantic relationship blossoms between an unsuspecting human and a beautiful mermaid.

LILIA VANROUGE. : Two young lovers become separated in a stormy ocean, and the mermaid decides to search for his lost human beau.

THE TWEALS, LEONA KINGSCHOLAR, VIL SCHOENHEIT. : a human was sacrificed to the mermaid.

it's the infamous High School baby project

TWST does not care about verbs/nouns/gender when it comes to names, I'm only going to do 1 'gender neutral' name (in theory), in twst fashion. For instance, a boy has an equal chance of being named Sarah, Kart, or John and vice-versa for a girl. I'll be using a randomizer for the gender and number of children, you can decide on what gender the baby is (unless you comment which character(s) you'd like to know.)

Dylla, Deuce, might as well have another 'D' name. I tried to make dawn sound more unique. Dawn represents 'new beginnings' since Deuce would want to leave that rebel past behind and step up to father a bag of flour.

Trey and Blithe are both word names where I feel they're both so in use they don't conjure up an image. Blithe means happy/joyful. When scrolling through baby name websites I did see 'Almond and 'Nachos' listed, I need you to know this.

When making this I realized the characters aren't exactly named after games, sorry Uno, Scrabble, and Yahtzee - but parts of it, so Dice.

Jack is one of few characters that has a common/average name - the child will need this stability in a place like twst! He's also a serious guy so it would be impossible to get him to agree on any name trends like alternate spellings/locations/words etc. Thorn finds a loophole with nicknames.

I changed the spelling of 'pearl' and I keep debating if I should have or not. Seren is pretty close to siren, these names sound mermaid-y.

From the character Nori in Barbie Mermaidia, I think it means seaweed. Jade was nice enough to let Thorn pick out the name, and Thorn went for the first fictional mermaid that came to mind.

Names from sneaker brands you could use as baby names and no on would know: Nike, Chuck, Chelsea, Taylor, Jordan, Mary Jane, Croc, etc.

I don't think Vil would be one of those celebrities parents that have all their children have the same initial, unique spellings, or invent names, or maybe he would? You know what? Having a common name would be a celeb niche in twst, he did not beat those allegations.

Is Rook French? bc I feel like he just uses French bc its trendy - he'd still pick a French/French influenced name though. Giselle is from the ballet 'Gisele' its romantic/dramatic/dark (quite sad really.)

Lilia has interesting naming conventions (Silver), so I tried to apply that here. Let's say child one has his eyes, so garnet, and child two has a calm demeanor, so dove.

Sebek - Amoret and Evermore nn: Ami and Ever

Sebek and Thorn have a book club so they'd pick literary names. Amoret is a character from the epic poem 'The Faerie Queene' by Edmund Spenser, and I think Sebek would like it. Evermore is from 'The Raven' a narrative poem by Edgar Allen Poe (there's a raven character that repeats evermore/nevermore) BUT if thats too dark there's also the Taylor Swift song 'Evermore' (which I feel has inspiration from 'The Raven')

Silver - Aurelia

Aurelia means gold, but I was trying to have Thorn and Silver apply their own meanings, aurora + starlight = aurelia. (Named after how their parents' eye colors are described)

Pomefiore x Siren!Reader

He let out an exasperated sigh when Azul called him in the midst of his busy day to inform him that you had been turned into a siren. Those rotten potatoes could never leave you alone, could they. And you always end up suffering because of it. He cut his photoshoot short just to be able to make sure that you were alright.

Once he did see you swimming about in one of the moonpools within the Octavinelle dormitory, he had to admit that you looked absolutely beautiful. He crouched down and waited for you to see him, and he smiled as he saw you gasp and try to hug him. But, he held up a hand to stop you as he stated that he didn’t have too long since he needed to go back to the photoshoot in a few moments and couldn’t have his clothes ruined. 

However, that didn’t mean your claws weren’t already in him. We all know of his determination and iron will, but your siren song spoke to him words that he had never heard before. Hamilton may have built Eliza palaces out of paragraphs, but you built cathedrals out of words. Mere sentences, promises uttered from you of kisses told to him only from stories that his father once read to him once he was younger, were enough to make his heart pound.

A few days had passed, and the poor movie star could not focus. Azul had warned him about the effects of a siren song, and his teachers had understood that he was under the influence of it, but… the show must go on. He kept himself busy in order to distract himself from you: he took on more modeling gigs, more rehearsals, diving deep into both schoolwork and being the Housewarden of Pomefiore.

But, all throughout, his mind kept wandering back to you. He could hear you singing, and it was breaking him down to nothing more than just a young man. He decided he was going to give you the kiss that you had been singing about. When he saw you again, he held your face gently as he pulled you into him. A kiss was shared between the two of you, and you pulled him into the water.

Fortunately, you were a bit past the mark of midnight, and your spell had started to wear off when the two of you embraced one another. Honestly, the scene reminded you of the Little Mermaid film, where Prince Eric helped Ariel walk once she had gotten her legs and gotten to shore. You temporarily had to relearn how to walk.

Rook Hunt

It was a miracle that he had not known prior to Monsieur Heart and Monsieur Spade informing him about your rather slippery situation. It seemed as though fate had many plans for you, each containing a tale (or tail, in this specific instance) hidden within. But his heart broke at seeing you suffer at the ends of the troublesome duo as well as Monsieur Fuzzball. 

Although, he had to admit that you were quite a trickster yourself as a siren. He was happy to always be five steps ahead of you at all times. He had some noise-canceling headphones hidden under his hat. Unfortunately, you had giggled and snatched the hat from his head and knocked the headphones into the water. His heart fluttered upon hearing your laugh and you wearing his beloved hat, he could have kissed you right then had it not been for the tweels, Monsieur Mastermind and Monsieur Malfeasant. 

The damage had been done, however. Your voice was now engraved into his mind, and now all he desired was to place a gentle kiss upon his lips and have you call him yours. Many different times, Leona had to ask if he was okay because he missed something that was said, and he also hasn’t been stalking anyone as of late. That is, anyone who wasn’t you. He had been visiting you in secret every single night. 

He knows that he shouldn’t be giving into temptation, but when his beloved, his one true love, was helpless he couldn’t help himself. He, however, was the helpless one. You were the predator, and he was the prey. And he was slowly falling into the warm, welcoming arms that belonged to you. You looked absolutely breathtaking, swimming about so gracefully that he couldn’t help but stare longingly.

It eventually got to be too much, and on the seventh secret visit, at midnight, he did call you over. You asked ‘innocently’ if he was going to grant your wish for a kiss, and he silently nodded his head. He didn’t care if this was wrong, it just felt so right. It was a good thing he wasn’t wearing his Pomefiore clothes but rather swimwear, as you had pulled him into the water with you and supplied him with air through your mouth. The kiss left him lightheaded, but he wanted more.

When the morning came, and you both were laying in your bed at Ramshackle, you started panicking for your beloved hunter. Vil would be angry if he wasn’t there, but he honestly didn’t care. He was finally reunited with his love, and he would suffer any consequences that his Housewarden would place upon him if it meant that he could spend just five more minutes in your arms. 

Epel Felmier

He was in the classroom where you had been accidentally turned into, and he was very angry that Jack was the one that had to carry you to the Octavinelle dorm. If only he had been both strong and manly enough, he could have carried you himself. You were his significant other, after all, and he so very much wanted to prove that he was your knight in shining armor. That day was just not today.

Because he was your boyfriend, he had received a warning from Jade and Floyd Leech. Sirens often called out to sailors, promising them their deepest desires, and made them crash into the rocks with their ships. He kept that in mind as he watched you resurface after swimming around for a few seconds. You reached out to him, and pleaded with him that he give you a kiss to comfort you, but he had to swallow the desire down and leave immediately without so much as a goodbye.

His Housewarden had to make sure that he was not outside of Pomefiore more than necessary. There were students who would take turns in making sure that he was not sneaking out. Both Vil and Rook could tell that Epel was under your siren’s spell, as he had grown quiet and compliant. The former had to tell Leona that the First Year would not be able to attend the Spelldrive practices during the week because of this incident. The lion did not really care, but oh well.

Your voice was calling out to the farmer boy. During the day, during the night, the apple carver could hear your song. It was a simple life that you were promising him, with you as his spouse and a farm as your home. An apple orchard, where your young ones would help you both pick the apples and he would teach them to carve them into intricate designs. He only needed to kiss you. It was a vision that haunted his dreams every single night he was away from you.

And on the seventh night, he was going to indulge you in your wish. He made sure that the two student guards were distracted as he threw an apple in a different direction and he quite easily snuck by. He ran as fast as he could, all the way to the moonpool where you were slowly swimming around. You looked so beautiful and peaceful… It's now that he noticed that the only peace you had gotten was when you were with a mer-person’s tail. He kissed you once you resurfaced, and you pulled him underwater.

When he woke up the next morning, he saw that he was in Ramshackle. He went red upon seeing that not only was he in your bed, but you were right next to him (understandably, considering it was your own bed). You were still asleep, so he settled back down and went back to cuddling you. The warm rays of the sun were splashing against his face in the most relaxing way, and he quickly fell back asleep.

Neve doesn’t feel great about investigating Cida Ciconia’s latest rival, for all Elek’s pious smile that he ‘just wanted to make sure the new girl at the Siren’s Call was working there willingly’. Neve knows what the payout is really for - if the girl’s a slave, the Shadow Dragons will smuggle her out of Minrathous to freedom, and if she’s a particularly foolish freewoman, Neve will give her the polite version of what happened to Cida’s last three competitors in Dock Town.

The girl will probably assume it’s a threat. Coming from Neve, it’s a warning. Elek doesn’t make threats, not when it comes to his sole ‘legitimate’ business and its star. She’s not really working for the Threads, she tells herself. Not really. All the whispers she’s heard on the girl say she’s something special, and Cida won’t tolerate any aspiring singer for long.

The girl is, in fact, something special, something Cida can’t possibly match, though her first impression does not reveal it. Neve first hears her famed voice raised, not in song, but in pettish demand, and it’s something of a relief, in all honesty. Maybe the Threads will go easier on a stupid, spoilt little girl than on a Docktown woman who should have known better.

“Aria, is that you?” the girl demands, from the far side of an enameled screen. “Do you have my honeyed mango juice? You know I can’t perform without it!”

There is a splash of water on the other side of the screen, which makes Neve feel secure enough to reveal herself. If she’s bathing, she isn’t expecting visitors, and she might even be too embarrassed to call any bouncers until Neve’s said her piece and gotten the hell out.

“Sadly not,” she says, casting a quick ward over the door. “I’ve got a message for you, Miss Laidir.”

There was a snort from the far side of the barrier. “Don’t be ridiculous, how much did you bribe the bouncer to get back here?”

“I didn’t have to. This isn’t that kind of message.”

A wobble of emotion beyond pettishness creeps into the voice: fear, she realises. Fear of her, or of her employers? “They- they don’t like people coming back here.”

“I won’t be long. Are they paying you, here?”

“What? I mean, I guess-”

“Can you leave?” That’s one of the cruellest tricks Minrathous law can play on the unwitting traveller - the thousand levels of slavery so complex, so vicious, that one can become ensnared long before they realise.

There’s a bitter laugh from the far side of the screen, and another splash. “You haven’t seen the show, have you?”

“I admit, I’m not a fan, but-”

“You should come round the screen,” the girl interrupts, unexpectedly. “If you’re going to threaten me, I’d like to at least look you in the eyes. And maybe answer some questions that are a little less stupid.”

That’s an oddity her brain notes, given the notes of fear that still hover in the air with the girl’s words. If she’s scared, it’s not of Neve seeing her in a vulnerable position, or of whatever message she bears. That’s the voice of a woman who thinks she has nothing left to lose. She’s wrong, of course - everyone has something to lose, if the Threads want to take it, but that make it less dangerous. Neve of all people knows there are plenty of people who are never truly harmless.

Still, she moves cautiously as she pokes her head around the corner of the screen, taking in the opulent decoration (the Siren’s Call’s gone up-market, if it can afford to do up even the back rooms), waiting for the trap to spring. Instead, there’s another, distinctly irritated splash.

“You’re grown, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen naked women before, especially if you break into rooms this often.”

She still feels almost too awkward to turn her head, despite the direct invitation. And then it gets even more awkward, because as soon as she does look directly at the girl in the bath, she can’t look away. From the vivid amber eyes that meet hers without a trace of fear or shame. From the inky black rivulets of damp hair that cling to her shoulders, to the curves of her (truly spectacular) breasts. From the long fish-tail that drapes over the side of the tub, sending sparks of light dancing like wisplight around the room.

“You’re not human,” she says, which is quite possibly the most obvious observation she’s ever made.

The girl takes in her astonished expression, and lets out a low, wicked cackle, revealing pointed white teeth. “Now you’re starting to get the picture.

Last Line Tag Game — Part II

Because I am being yelled at.... My last bit from my mermaid AU where I have my named Rook(Name from game tho) Grier as a Siren (Mermaid style). I finally hit the point of the story where they finally get physical. So Smut warning. @anyone who sees this?

“I would worship you for the rest of our days if you let me.” Grier hums back solemnly and fondly as he slips down, tugging Lucanis out of his pants carefully. He is slow and careful, keeping a gentle pace that takes every care to work at a level Lucanis isn't overwhelmed with. He suckles along the side lapping along the length careful to keep his teeth away as he keeps those hips pinned to the bed. Lucanis is whining practically and straining into Grier's palms but he keeps his hands up and Grier hums a pleased groan as he takes the head of the twitching cock into his mouth. Lucanis cursed and shuddered, his calves rubbing against Grier's back and Grier hums happily as he sinks lower and starts bobbing his head, enjoying the man breaking apart to bable and twitching his hands exactly how Grier left them.

(kalim and jamil respectively, I don't fuck with anyone, lmao). one of the twins or Azul (or the whole mafia fish) on the reef with the mermaids. all som laughs until one messes with floyd gets bored and surprise, surprise! yes you guys are mermaids, we're sirens. malleus and lillia i don't think they're very comfortable with tinkerbell because fae vs pixie beef. rook and epel take on the personality of a lost child and if vil wasn't arguing with idia about how the clock rings in the crocodile's stomach, he'd have a heart attack.

Arthurian myth: Morgan the Fey (1)

Loosely translated from the French article "Morgane", written by Philippe Walter, for the Dictionary of Feminine Myths (Le Dictionnaire des Mythes Féminins)

MORGANE

Morgane means in Celtic language “born from the sea” (mori-genos). This character is as such, by her origins, part of the numerous sea-creatures of mythologies. A Britton word of the 9th century, “mormorain”, means “maiden of the sea/ sea-virgin”, et in old texts it is equated with the Latin “siren”. A passage of the life of saint Tugdual of Tréguiers (written in 1060) tells of ow a young man of great beauty named Guengal was taken away under the sea by “women of the sea”. The Celtic beliefs knew many various water-fairies with often deadly embraces – and Morgane was one among the many sirens, mermaids, mary morgand and “morverc’h” (sea girls/daughters of the sea).

Morgane, the fairy of Arthurian tales, is the descendant of the mythical figures of the Mother-Goddesses who, for the Celts, embodied on one side sovereignty, royalty and war, and on the other fecundity and maternity. In the Middle-Ages, they were renamed “fairies” – but through this word it tried to translate a permanent power of metamorphosis and an unbreakable link to the Otherworld, as well as a dreaded ability to influence human fate. The French word “fée” comes from the neutral plural “fata”, itself from the Latin word “fatum”, meaning “fate”.

There is not a figure more ambivalent in Celtic mythology – and especially in the Arthurian legends – than Morgane. She constantly hesitates between the character of a good fairy who offers helpful gifts to those she protects ; and a terrible, bloodthirsty goddess out for revenge, only sowing death and destruction everywhere she goes. Christianity played a key role in the demonization of this figure embodying an inescapable fate, thus contradicting the Christian view of mankind’s free will.

I/ The sovereign goddess of war

It is in the ancient mythological Irish texts that the goddess later known as Morgane appears. The adventures of the warrior Cuchulainn (the “Irish Achilles”) with the war-goddess Morrigan are a major theme of the epic cycle of Ireland. The Morrigan (a name which probably means “great queen”) is also called “Bodb Catha” (the rook of battles). It is under the shape of a rook (among many other metamorphosis) that she appears to Cuchulainn to pronounce the magical words that will cause the hero’s death.

The Irish goddesses of war were in reality three sisters: Bodb, Macha and Morrigan, but it is very likely that these three names all designated the same divinity, a triple goddess rather than three distinct characters. This maleficent goddess was known to cause an epileptic fury among the warriors she wanted to cause the death of. The name of Bodb, which ended up meaning “rook”, originally had the sense of “fury” and “violence”, and it designated a goddess represented by a rook. The Irish texts explain that her sisters, Macha and Morrigan, were also known to cause the doom of entire armies by taking the shape of birds. Every great battle and every great massacre were preceded by their sinister cries, which usually announced the death of a prominent figure.

The Celtic goddesses of war have as such a function similar to the one of the Norse Walkyries, who flew over the battlefield in the shape of swans, or the Greek Keres. The deadly nature of these goddesses resides in the fact that they doom some warriors to madness with their terrifying screams. One of the effects of this goddess-caused madness was a “mad lunacy”, the “geltacht”, which affected as much the body as the mind. During a battle in 1722 it was said that the goddess appeared above king Ferhal in the shape of a sharp-beaked, red-mouth bird, and as she croaked nine men fell prey to madness. The poem of “Cath Finntragha” also tells of the defeat of a king suffering from this illness. The place of his curse later became a place of pilgrimage for all the lunatics in hope of healing.

The link between the war-goddess and the “lunacy-madness” are found back within folklore, in which fairies, in the shape of birds, regularly attack children and inflict them nervous illnesses. These fairies could also appear as “sickness-demons”. Their appearance was sometimes tied to key dates within the Celtic calendar, such as Halloween, which corresponded to the Irish and pre-Christian celebration of Samain. Folktales also keep this particularly by placing the ritualistic appearances of witches and of fate-fairies during the Twelve Days, between Christmas and the Epiphany – another period similar to the Celtic Halloween. Morgane seems to belong to this category of “seasonal visitors”.

II) The Queen of Avalon

In Arthurian literature, Morgane rules over the island of Avalon, a name which means the Island of Apples (the apple is called “aval” in Briton, “afal” in Welsh and “Apfel” in German). Just like the golden apples of the Garden of the Hesperids, in Celtic beliefs this fruit symbolizes immortality and belongs to the Otherworld, a land of eternal youth. It is also associated with revelations, magic and science – all the attributes that Morgane has. Her kingdom of Avalon is one of the possible localizations of the Celtic paradise – it is the place that the Irish called “sid”, the “sedos” (seat) of the gods, their dwelling, but at the same time a place of peace beyond the sea. Avalon is also called the Fortunate Isle (L’Île Fortunée) because of the miraculous prosperity of its soil where everything grows at an abnormal rate. As such, agriculture does not exist there since nature produces by itself everything, without the intervention of mankind.

It is within this island that the fairy leads those she protects, especially her half-brother Arthur after the twilight of the Arthurian world. Morgane acts as such as the mediator between the world of the living and the fabulous Celtic Otherworld. Like all the fairies, she never stops going back and forth between the two worlds. Morgane is the ideal ferrywoman. The same way the Morrigan fed on corpses or the Valkyries favored warriors dead in battle, Morgane also welcomes the soul of the dead that she keeps by her side for all of eternity. Some texts gave her a home called “Montgibel”, which is confused with the Italian Etna. The Otherworld over which she rules doesn’t seem, as such, to be fully maritime.

The ”Life of Merlin” of the Welsh clerk Geoffroy of Monmouth teaches us that Morgan has eight sisters: Moronoe, Mazoe, Gliten, Glitonea, Gliton, Thiten, Tytonoe, and Thiton. Nine sisters in total which can be divided in three groups of three, connected by one shared first letter (M, G, T). In Adam de la Halle’s “Jeu de la feuillée”, she appears with two female companions (Arsile and Maglore), forming a female trinity. As such, she rebuilds the primitive triad of the sovereign-goddesses, these mother-goddesses that the inscriptions of Antiquity called the “Matres” or “Matronae”. In this triad, Morgane is the most prominent member. She is the effective ruler of Avalon, since it was said that she taught the art of divination to her sisters, an art she herself learned from Merlin of which she was the pupil. She knows the secret of medicinal herbs, and the art of healing, she knows how to shape-shift and how to fly in the air. Her healing abilities give her in some Arthurian works a benevolent function, for example within the various romans of Chrétien de Troyes. She usually appears right on time to heal a wounded knight: she is the one that gave a balm to Yvain, the Knight of the Lion, to heal his madness. In these works, Morgane does not embody a force of destruction, but on the contrary she protects the happy endings and good fortunes of the Round Table. She is the providential fée that saves the souls born in high society and raised in the “courtois” worship of the lady. However, her powers of healing can reverse into a nefarious power when the fée has her ego wounded.

III/ The fatal temptress

In the prose Arthurian romans of the 13th century, Morgane can be summarized by one place. After being neglected by her lover Guyomar, she creates “le Val sans retour”, the Vale of No-Return, a place which will define her as a “femme fatale”. This place transports without the “littérature courtoise” the idea of the Celtic Otherworld. Also called “Le Val des faux amants” (The Vale of False Lovers), “le Val sans retour” is a cursed place where the fée traps all those that were unfaithful to her, by using various illusions and spells. As such, she manifests both her insatiable cruelty and her extreme jealousy. Lancelot will become the prime victim of Morgane because, due to his love for Queen Guinevere, he will refuse her seduction. The feelings of Morgane towards Lancelot rely on the ambivalence of love and hate: since she cannot obtain the love of the knight by natural means, she will use all of her enchantments and magical brews to submit Lancelot’s will. In vain. Lancelot will escape from the influence of this wicked witch. In “La Mort le roi Artu”, still for revenge, Morgan will participate in her own way to the decline to the Arthurian world: she will reveal to her brother, king Arthur, the adulterous love of Guinevre and Lancelot. She will bring to him the irrefutable proof of this affair by showing her what Lancelot painted when he had been imprisoned by her. The terrible war that marks the end of the Arthurian world will be concluded by the battle between Arthur and Mordred, the incestuous son of Arthur and Morgan. As such, Morgan appears as the instigator of the disaster that will ruin the Arthurian world. She manipulates the various actors of the tragedy and pushes them towards a deadly end. It should be noted that any sexual or romantic relationship between Arthur and Morgane are absent from the French romans – they are especially present within the British compilation of Malory, La Mort d’Arthur.

Behind the possessive woman described by the Arthurian texts, hides a more complex figure, a leftover of the ancient Celtic goddess of destinies. Cruel and manipulative, Morgan is fuses with the fear-inducing figure of the witch. Despite being an enemy of men, she keeps seeking their love. All of her personal tragedy comes from the fact that she fails to be loved. Always heart-sick, she takes revenge for her romantic failure with an incredible savagery. Her brutality manifest itself through the ugliness that some text will end up giving her – the ultimate rejection by this Christian world of this “devilish and lustful temptress”. “La Suite du Roman de Merlin” will try to give its own explanation for this transformation of Morgane, from good to wicked fairy: “She was a beautiful maiden until the time she learned charms and enchantments ; but because the devil took part in these charms and because she was tormented by both lust and the devil, she completely lost her beauty and became so ugly that no one accepted to ever call her beautiful, unless they had been bewitched”. In this new roman, she is responsible for a series of murders and suicides – and as the rival of Guinevere, she tries to cause King Arthur’s doom by favorizing her own lover, Accalon. Another fée, Viviane, will oppose herself to her schemes.

The demonization of the goddess is however not complete. Morgan appears in several “chansons de gestes” of the beginning of the 13th century, and even within the Orlando Furioso of the Arisote, in the sixth canto, in which she is the sister of the sorceress Alcina. She is presented as the disciple of Merlin. Seer and wizardess, she owns (within Avalon or the land of Faerie) a land of pleasure, a little paradise in which mankind can escape its condition. At the same time the Arthurian texts discredit her, she joins a strange historico-pagan syncretism, by being presented as the wife of Julius Caesar, and as the mother of Aubéron, the little king of Féerie.

After the Middle-Ages, the fée Morgane only mostly appears within the Breton folklore (the French-Britton folklore, of the French region of Bretagne). There, old mythical themes which inspired medieval literature are maintained alive, and keep existing well after the Middles-Ages. Morgane is given several lairs, on earth or under the sea. In the Côtes-d’Armor, there is a Terte de la fée Morgan, while a hill near Ploujean is called “Tertre Morgan”. There is an entire branch of popular literature in Bretagne (such as Charles Le Bras’ 1850 “Morgân”) where the fée represents the last survivor of a legendary land and the reminder of a forgotten past. She expresses the nostalgia of a lost dream, of a fallen Golden Age. True Romantic allegory of the lands and seas of Bretagne, she most notably embodies the feeling of a Bretagne land that was in search of its own soul.

However, it is her role of “cursed lover” that stays the most dominant within the Breton folklore. The vicomte de La Villemarqué, great collector of folktales and popular legends, noted in his “Barzaz Breiz” (1839) that the “morgan”, a type of water spirits, took at the bottom of the sea or of ponds, in palaces of gold and crystal, young people that played too close to their “haunted waters”. The goal of these fairies was to kidnap them to regenerate their cursed species. This ties the link between these “morganes” (also called “mary morgand”) and the Antique “fairy of fate”. Similar names, a same love of water, and the presence of the “land below the waves”, of a malevolent seduction – these are the permanent traits of Morgane, who keeps confusing and uniting the romantic instinct for love, and the desire for death. More modern adaptations of the legend (such as Marion Zimmer Bradley’s novels) weave an entire feminist fantasy around the figure of this fairy, supposed to embody the Celtic matriarchy.

Okay I'm cooking some lore for the au.

In it all this is happening in a place where it's close from the sea (like the little mermaid)

Vil will be the ruler of the land and Rook is his huntsman (snow white reference too) and I'm still not sure of Epel role but he would work under Vil too.

So Rook keeps going in his free time to the sea just to see the siren. At first no one knows where he goes but then he starts saying those poems about the ocean creatures.

In the palace Epel could hear Rook throwing poems about his wish to be devoured by a siren (or His maritime Songstress ha) and he wonders why did Vil even hired a man like Rook to be his huntsman.

How did she meet Azul? By scaring away the bullies with her presence alone, they immediately became friends after that and later met the Tweels and Mizuko.

Personality

Stella is an immature and overconfident girl who is the embodiment of :3, however she can be a very reckless girl that got into dangerous situations that injured her several times, but she always came out alive due to anyone's confusion especially Raymond but she would often dismiss those concerns by saying she's alright.

Trivia

It's ironic that KickinChicken the character she's twisted from, is a bird while Stella is a mermaid but it's also fitting that sirens are portrayed as birds in the classical Greek mythology.

Stella doesn't like any and all vampires, due to the Sakamaki's behavior towards Yui Komori however Samara and Yuri we're exceptions due to how kind those 2 we're.

She deeply wanted Yui to kill Yuzu, due to her finding out about how Yuzu r@pe Raymond, she can't do it herself since she knew Yuzu could revive herself.

Due to her coming from the mafia, it's natural for her to knew about weaponry
