All twisted wonderland guys are at least a little bisexual and if you think they aren't THAT bisexual that's because they were de-gayed by the official eng server. Flirting with each other and with Yuu... Ahghhgh

We missed out on ace telling us to call him when we're lonely, missed out on cater asking vil out on a date (and vil saying he couldn't afford to date him) actually cater was a hella flirt in the japanese one and the scrubbed that from the official English translation, literally all of it was gayer and they had flirtier lines to both game Canon Yuu, the player character, and to each other.

Genuinely recommend going through jp translations both here from mysteryshoptls and from yuurei20. There's also YouTube channels like gasmask. You don't even gotta spoil stuff for yourself, just take a peak at old stuff you've seen already to compare to through the little search function or masterlists. Especially yuurei20's. They do comparisons and breakdowns too that really showcase differences and also have lists of character facts and references.

Also it's just good for character reference as well inspiration if you're doing twst x reader/twisted wonderland x reader

Like if i started with something (job, item, money, relationship, event planned etc) and lost this in some way, then yes I'm gonna view the situation as half empty. My cup is half empty, i had something​ previously and now it's gone or something happened to it etc

Conversely, if my situation was pretty dire- cup empty or containing less than even half of what i need to have a full metaphorical cup- but then i gain something- cup filled- then yes I'll view this situation as half full even if perhaps I'm still in need of more.

I find it kind of stupid how 'half full' vs 'half empty' is framed as an optimist/pessimist thing. If it starts full and gets halfway drained, it's half empty. If it starts empty and gets halfway filled, it's half full. If you don't know the starting state it's both simultaneously.

I just like them as so much as characters.

rook is unapologetically himself. He stays true to himself and his ideals no matter what anyone says. Even though literally everyone, including his closest friend Vil, thinks he's weird and even off-putting. Don't get me wrong about Vil. He and Rook are amazingly close but there are multiple instances where Vil finds Rook irritating. He is often told in some manner to curb himself, to tone down his passion for finding the beauty & positivity in all things. All he does is be unabashedly genuine & passionate & artistic & honest. He's also one of the few characters who is relatively kind to Game Canon You from beginning to end in game Canon. In multiple instances in his dialogue he invites others to join him in his hobbies and activities and despite being faced w/ hostility. Even on his birthday, Malleus did not want to go despite sending an invite-which yes Mal can have preferences - but still the fact that the King of lonely rejects an invite shows how fairly isolated Rook is. Yet despite criticism from all around, he maintains this unending positivity & drive to improve. I love Rook hunt

Sebek too. He is a very driven & honest Character. In multiple vignettes he is shown to be helpful, to Show care, to Show admiration for skill in his peers. Yes, he is standoffish. However, he is not deceitful nor manipulative nor does he seem to intend harm unlike a great deal of many especially early on. A lot of comments about humans seem to stem from internalized racism. There is a lot of canonical instances discrimination against fae, especially those who are notably different dwarves & the pixies. So it would be unsurprising if Sebek also grew up under discrimination AND scrutiny both from human community & the fae Community. We know that his grandfather Baul is very vocal about his disapproval of his fae daughter's marriage w/ a human. Yet despite this, he still does his best & still clearly cares. He grew up w/ parents who went against a lot of opposition to be together and are very loving and likely took some of that determination & attitude w/ him in life. He will give praise for skill and will help those he can. His circumstances & upbringing (Scrutiny & discrimination from both fae & humans, even his own grandfather though he mentions that progress has been made there). Despite all of this, he is doing his best and is a wonderfully genuine and honest and expressive and determined guy

So yeah

I love Sebek and Rook. They're great characters and I think they need more appreciation.

Concept: peacock harpy vil or lady Amherst pheasant vil but we amp up the wonderland fever dream qualities of the world. Like really pump in that wonderland quality of "wtf is going on" vibe, "pink elephants" alcohol acid trip from Dumbo, and fever dream-esque stuff. I want Vil to bedazzle and entrance people, the eye spots move and follow you, absolutely mesmerizing.

Need to work this out and flesh it out obviously but basically poison feathers like the colorful corvid (adds extra color and also added reason for why he must maintain his upkeep), eyefeathers that have working eyes but it's still "eyespots", Sure he's gorgeous but that Amhersts Pheasant hood also is out but it's covering his face cause insecurity but also its for "looks". <- "is he showing off like the Show Bird he is or hiding his true face" type of deal

Not Sure what to Call this au but the Vibe is: over Saturated colors, eldritch but in a "colors, haze, dreams" way & not "flesh melting, mind bending, contorting" way. For a lot of the world this holds true: Intentions & perceptions & emotions shape the world So for above Vil is an idol and he is watching & being watched & is wary of this thus all the eyespots that also do eye things. All eyes on him, it's how he thrives but he also must keep an eye on others. Still figuring it out but it's like if Symbolism & Perceptions (both internal & external) affected the physical world.

Just saw the worst character takes in a reblog thread. Did they forget that deuce spade loves his mom? Did they forget that Jack is one of the guys that doesn't randomly pick fights with anybody? Did they forget that vil only lectures people who don't do their work? That vil's whole premise is beauty in different aspects and not just physical, to do the best you can and improve? Did we read the same game and see the same characters? I can kinda understand those attitudes towards epel and ace but really?? jack and deuce??? A beastman- race whose main thing is that they are raised to respect women especially strong women- who is also one of the ones who is actually nice to folks in game and deuce who literally started trying to get his life around specifically for his mom??? Also none of em would slut shame you???? Everyone can have their own opinions but i kinda wonder if we both read the same characters??? I know guys can act like that in real life and offline, but also this is specifically wonderland where people can be an ass but also every guy in canon knows how to put on makeup and skincare and the guys dance in a star dress with ribbons for a holiday. I'm sorry y'all were bullied but also these characters aren't those people and in canon have never really acted that way. Don't get me wrong nearly all have a mean streak, some more than others with rook, deuce, and kalim being some of the few who aren't outright or even passive aggressive to game Canon Yuu in the beginning. (Technically Jack also isn't aggressive and he's just kinda hanging out and also initially doesn't want to help which is understandable but he's definitely not as welcoming as the first three). But even those with a mean streak are more likely to pick at your abilities/intelligence, dress, and behavior rather than the stuff some folks think they would pick at. An npc might bully you for not throwing a punch, not talking back, or not doing well in class. They might not make fun of you for certain gender stereotypes but they might make fun of the way you dress if they don't think it goes together or if your liner isn't on right (especially ace) or maybe height but definitely not the stuff y'all are saying they would??? Also vil canonically dresses in gender non-conforming way, he doesn't give a flying fuck about gender and even lectures epel about it during dance training when epel complains about feminine movements. Anyways long story short, NRC boys are equal opportunity haters at worst and snarky gossipy friends at best (ride or die for all of em if they're your friends). Most aren't gonna really care about your gender. Arguably leona might be more polite initially depending but he also is more polite in general to those who are polite and respectful to him (which is also why he gets mad at the ghost bride cause of the whole ghost wedding debacle and gets annoyed with his sister-in-law for making him go to his home for cloud calling). Only reason we don't really see him being polite often to others is because nearly every character he's ever had an interaction with has lectured him, berated him or said some passive aggressive snide remark to him (usually about him being lazy). There have been very few folks who were chill to Leona to be honest.

the characters are so good

it is full of depictions of imperfect victims, of how one can be capable of great harm, of individuals with depth. they have fears and goals and worries and aspirations. They laugh, they cry, they joke, they worry, they fear, they make mistakes, they learn

they can lash out in fear and frustration, they laugh and joke and these jokes don't always land, they make mistakes and try to better themselves though they struggle

they are not perfect

they have so many aspects, both negative and postive and neutral, and they are all trying their best

regardless of ones personal favoreds and who is " better", one can't deny that all of these individuals try their best with what they have and are able to do (especially in regards to their own mental wellbeing, their health, their morals, and overall personality)

the imperfect characters, flawed and doing their best, they mess up, they try their best, they learn

it touches on some tough stuff as well. feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness (leona), worry of never being enough, worry of being evil, Being stuck in a position in life (jamil), never getting efforts recognized (jamil and leona), frustration at the lack of control over chaos (riddle azul), fear of loss of control (riddle and azul), fear of abandonment, fear of being forgotten, lack of personal connections and friends, confusion about identity and their place in community (sebek and his human and his fae side, silver, etc). It's all there, expressed in different ways in different characters

there's also other situations that it goes over, like the class system for Jamil as being born into generational servitude was the main cause for his overblot and mental break as well as the possibility of getting his entire family in trouble and in danger as well. There's also the war and genocide for Malleus and faekind. Plus incanon wonderland racism. notably with the less humanoid or less standard looking ones, like the dwarves the tiny fairies. it also doesn't escape notice that in the past ALL fae were considered monsters so the implications are off putting and worrying that they call grim- a clearly sentient and cognizant being who is capable of going to school and using the facilities- a monster and beast. who is to say there are not worse cases of discrimination in canon, there are already canon mentions and depictions of such in in-canon wonderland past so it is not unimaginable and unlikely.

I like that twisted wonderland depicts a multitude of both the heavy and the lighthearted. It is interesting, it is good, i like that it goes over so much. The depth
