I was a mermaid or something and I needed to look after my weird pet fish because he kept on getting out on shore. His name was Pimple and I was very attached to him, but one time I put him back in the water, a dolphin ate him. I was really upset about it.
Btw, Pimple looked like this:

mer!danny and newlyturnedmer!damian have to swim from Amity Island on the west to Gotham on the east coast, all the while evading hordes of pursuers
And boy is it going to be difficult as fuck.
Danny thought he was handling everything just fine. No drownings in his long six-month career as Phantom, and suddenly when he's finally getting it together, guess which rich ass himbo and his spoilt rich son came to ruin everything.
And now as Danny leans over Damian Wayne's cold lips and still chest, his own body heaving heaving and out of breath from what feels like hours of CPR, Danny's got no choice but to bite the bullet.
He just hopes they can both get back home without ending up on the dissection table.

more detalles below!
They can't swim back to Amity, because by this point it's infested with patrol baots from the GiW, who have convinced Bruce to let them have free reign in the search to rescue his son (bruce is investigating the hell out of them in the meantime)
They can't phone bruce or danny's friends because phones dont work underwater, and this is early in danny's career, so team phantom don't have as much tech as they would normally have
They can't just swipe a phone from a tourist from wherever (the image of Damian rising from below like a horror movie monster, the feral child, is hilarious tho) because Damian's vocal cords have been irrevocably altered and he can only speak in clikcs and trills now ^^ (Danny isn't affected as much because he's a teenager and more developed, thus can speak english in mer form)
And they are constnatly being chased by the GiW, atlanteans, and other villains along the way :D
Some ideas for how they get there:
A: They swim through the Panama fucking Canal and somehow don't get caught and/or skewered
B: They go south into South America, potentially through the Magellan Straight or wrapping around the southern tip, or you could even have Danny turn human, pick Damian up and they continue their journey through the Amazon
C: They go north into the NorthWest Passage, which is insanely dangerous, cold and sparse of (vegetarian) food, but it's much more fificult for their pursuers too
D: THEY SWIM WEST AND GO ACROSS THE FUCKING WORLD BABY!!!

Why is the ocean so pretty? When the waves clash against the ocean and there is a light blue splash from the impact. It’s so shimmery and beautiful. Also the aesthetic of the ocean is so beautiful and cool. Jellyfish, purple, pink, blue, cute otters and whales. Pinch me 🤧

How do you imagine hybrids work in love and legends? We've seen elf/humans.
So there are 6 different species and aside from the mermaids, they're all compatable to have children.
I headcanon life expectancy, colouration, and the shape of facial or body features to be gradient traits, so they pretty much randomly combine between the two parents like any other child
Magical traits are probably more binary. So a fairy hybrid child could inherit the eyes, wings, and/or sparkles, or none, with no middle ground. A demon hybrid will usually inherit a faded form of the markings, but they won't always be able to transform or earn horns. Dwarf hybrids might inherit the ability to echolocate vs just having larger ears.
If two species with strong magic have a child, they're more likely to inherit magical traits (e.g. elves and fairies with strong magic vs humans and dwarves with low magic)
Considering the domains are all friendly with each other, I imagine it's fairly common to have mixed ancestry and there's no real taboo aside from the grief of lifespan differences
