Hi <3 I am very curious about your Mermaid!Tup fic. Do you mind sharing a bit about it?

Okay, so the untitled Mermaid!Tup fic is my creative take on the events of The Little Mermaid, but with the clones.

The inspiration came after I watched the live action little mermaid movie. I don't have anything written, but the outline is there.

Now, I've taken some creative liberty here and switched some stuff up to make it work for me, so try to bear with me.

First of all, Rex is the King of all seven seas. Then he has his brothers, who are the commanders of the individual seven seas. For example, Cody is in charge of the North Pacific and Wolffe the North Atlantic.

Now Rex has seven sons, who will eventually take over as commanders of the seven seas when they retire(?) or die(?). I'm keeping a very militaristic twist on this fic.

Jesse is the oldest (and most stressed), Kix is the second oldest, then you have the twins, Fives and Echo, then Hardcase, then Dogma, and finally, the youngest is Tup.

Each brother has a dynamic within the story. Tup is the "Arial" of the story. He's obsessed with the human world and absolutely bored to tears by war, politics, and battle strategy.

A lot of the story elements remain the same, just with a few twists. Like Tup's "Flounder" isn't a fish, but it's actually Dogma. He tries to talk Tup out of everythinggggggggg.

Now, the underlying conflict of this story is that the humans are actually harvesting merpeople because of some myth that their tails have mystical healing powers, and the council of commanders and Rex are actively trying to stop it.

So, having not just one, but two of his sons skipping out on briefings causes a lot of tension between Rex and Tup, leaving Dogma somewhere in the middle.

Finally felt up to finishing this year's mermay entry! I had trouble figuring out unique and dynamic poses for all of the lads, but otherwise I feel like I did a good job.

Species-wise Rex is a shortfin mako shark, Jesse is a dusky dolphin, Kix a nurse shark, Hardcase a puffer fish, Fives and Echo are dragon moray eels, Tup is a ribbon eel and Dogma a giant oarfish.

Personal clone headcanons!

For Commander Monnk, specifically because I love him and I'm making it everyone else's problem.

While he was still on Kamino, Monnk was a good little soldier and kept everything in regulation.

The moment he gets assigned to Kit Fisto, he goes wild.

The first thing he does is grow his hair out. You think Tup has long hair? That's just because you've never seen Monnk without his helmet before.

His hair is also bleached blonde, though the very tips of his hair are pale blue.

Look, he was told that he's going to be a Scuba Trooper and he made it his whole damned personality.

Unironically calls people dude and bro, unless he's working, and then he's the picture of professionalism.

Except with General Fisto, whom he calls dude multiple times a day in various tones of annoyance and frustration.

Monnk has 1 tattoo. However, the tattoo is massive and covers the majority of his body. It's a Kraken, with the head on his upper back and the tentacles going down his arms and legs, as well as across his chest.

General Fisto suggested adding a ship to the tattoo and now Monnk's considering adding mermaids instead.

Monnk and Kit are actually really close, Monnk is just contrary by nature.

He's considered getting an ear pierced, but decided against it with the whole "active soldier in a war" thing. Though he will get some when the war ends.

Personally, I think he's a notorious flirt, but he's also the kind of guy who doesn't realize that he's flirting with someone.

Not as heavily scarred as some of the other Command Batch, Monnk says it's because he's not a dumbass like his brothers. Cody says it's because Monnk has better reflexes.

Monnk is actually slightly force sensitive. Not enough for Jedi training, but enough that he can avoid serious injury and can always find people who are trying to hide from him. (The Command Batch version of hide and seek is intense).

Monnk is actually one of the youngest members of the Command Batch, being even younger than Rex, the proclaimed baby of the Command batch.

A\N: This was requested by @leias-left-hair-bun , I really hope you like it!! Dogma is one of my favorites, sorry its a little shorter than usual.

“Dogma, come on!” Dogma sighs as he’s dragged towards the surface by Tup, and he tries to swim the other way. “No! It’s against the rules to go to the surface.” Tup rolls his eyes at Dogma. “Rules, shmools. I don’t care, I’m going up there.” Tup swims upwards, making Dodma’s eyes widen. “Tup, No!” Dogma screeches as Tup’s head breaks the surface and he swims forward. Dogma growls as he thinks of what to do, he can’t just abandon his brother, but he doesn’t want to break the rules.

Dogma growls again, and makes his decision. He quickly swims up, and his head pops out of the water. Wonder fills him as he looks around, he has never been above the surface before, it looks amazing. Above him is blue with  white things in it, and the sun. in front of him is a sandy piece of land, with many humans on it. Dogma quickly ducks behind a rock as not to be seen.

He looks around for Tup, unable to find him until he finally notices him in front of a rock. “Tup.” Dogma hisses quietly as he swims over to Tup, who looks at him with a big smirk on his face. “Glad you could join me, Dogma.” Dogma glares. “I kind of had to, since you are being a big Di’kut!” Tup just rolls his eyes. “But you have to admit, it is amazing up here.” Dogma crosses his arms and looks away stubbornly, making Tup laugh and poke his ribs. “Come on, admit it.” Dogma huffs. “Fine, I admit it. It is amazing up here, now can we go back home now.” Dogma looks around then leans in closer to Tup. “Before a human see’s us.” Tup shakes his head. “I want to watch them some more, they are really funny creatures.” Dogma growls, they are going to get caught, he knows it. 

“Tup! You’ve heard the stories too, they will capture us if they see us.” Tup shakes his head. “Look at them, Dogma. They act just like us, only on land instead of the sea.”  Dogma raises an eyebrow, then looks where Tup is looking. There are human’s playing around and pushing each other, acting like their older brothers do. Another human is comforting a younger one who must have fallen, she is crying hard as the human shushes her. “They… Theyy do kind of act like us.”  Dogma admits, making Tup smile. “Maybe some humans are bad, like everyone says, but its the same with us. Some Mer are bad, but a lot of us are good.” Dogma sighs as he pinches the bridge of his nose, he believes that Tup is probably right, but he’d rather not stick around to find out which ones are bad.

“Tup, we have to go. Now!” Tup sighs. “Fine, but I’m coming back, and will talk to a human.” Tup dives down under the waves and Dogma follows as they swim far away from the humans. Then Dogma grabs his shoulders and turns Tup to look at him. “Look, I know that I won’t be able to stop you from going back, so at least do me the favor of taking me, and one of our Ori’Vod with you?” Dogma begs, he won’t let his brother get hurt, no matter how much Tup bugs him. Tup smiles and places a hand on Dogma’s shoulder. “Of course, You can definitely come. And I can tell you now, Fives and Echo will be thrilled to come with us.” Dogma barks out a laugh. “You mean Fives will be thrilled, Echo will come to make sure he won’t get into trouble.” Both burst out laughing as they swim back to the castle, both ready to prepare for there next adventure with humans. Although one is much more worried than the other.

Don't Worry, I Have You

Summary: It’s done, after one long year, the binding is done, and you’re a mermaid. Just one problem. You don’t know how to swim.

A/N: I wanted this to be longer, but my brain decided that it was done wording. I hope you enjoy it! I can't wait until I can sit at my computer again. One more week.

The magic washes over you, cool and soothing, like a hand pressed against your forehead when you’re sick. It feels like a homecoming, like this is how you have always meant to be. 

You worried about so many things about today. That you would make a mistake, that you would ruin the binding, that the magic would reject you. You worried about what your tail would look like, worried that Jesse would no longer want you when you were mer (a ridiculous worry, but anxiety is a bitch), worried that the transformation would hurt, worry that you would panic the first time you tried to breathe underwater—

But now that you’re here and the transformation is over, all of those fears have vanished. 

You blink over at Jesse, who’s watching you with a look of such adoration on his handsome face that you lift your hands to cover your face. Or, that’s your plan, until you catch sight of your tail.

It’s shorter than Jesse’s, though your fins are longer and a lot more flowy. Your scales are a darker shade of blue than Jesse’s own, and you have a lot fewer white scales than him, your colors appearing to be more dark blue and gray, rather than the vibrant blue and white of Jesse. 

If you had to explain it in a word, Jesse’s tail looks more streamlined while you look more decorative.

You open your mouth to ask something, only to realize that you’re sinking. “Uh…?” It’s at that very moment that you realize that you have no idea how to move your tail. You try to move your tail, your face scrunching up in thought, but all you manage to do is flip yourself upside down.

Above you, Jesse laughs, warm and bright, sounding genuinely amused. Though you’re relieved when you feel his hands on your hips as he repositions you so that you’re upright again.

He keeps one hand on your hip while the other one moves to cup your face.

You close your eyes and rub your cheek against his rough hand, “How do I look?” You ask without opening your eyes.

“Perfect, just like I knew you would.” Jesse replies, and you open your eyes to see that he’s staring at your face. There’s a look of such adoration on his face that you can’t help but smile at him.

“My tail is darker than yours.”

“Safety thing. Women have darker scales to keep them safe from predators.” Jesse explains, “Babies are darker too.” He adds.

That makes sense, you decide after a moment of thought. It’s how it works with birds, at least.

“How are you feeling?” Jesse asks, his voice gentle. “I know you were pretty anxious for the last couple of days.”

You wrap your arms around him comfortably and consider his question, “Now that the binding is done,” You finally say, “A lot of my anxiety has faded. Some of my anxieties were a bit silly, thinking back.”

“Not silly. I couldn’t prepare you for everything, so they made sense.” Jesse corrects as he leans in and bumps his forehead against yours, “Have all of your concerns faded, then?”

You nod, and then smile at him, “There’s just one more concern.”

“Oh?”

Your smile turns sheepish, “I can’t seem to figure out how to swim.”

He grins, “I had noticed that.” Jesse pulls away from you and presses a quick kiss against your lips. “I’ll help you.”

“I won’t get in the way of you swimming?” You ask nervously.

“Never.” He pulls away and holds out his hands to you, and you immediately take them.

Jesse pulls you through the water, out of the chamber where the transformation happens, and into deeper water. Your hands tighten nervously around his hands, and he squeezes your hands reassuringly.

“It’s okay, cyare.” He says soothingly, “Don’t worry, I have you.”

Your anxiety fades almost instantaneously. Jesse would never let anything hurt you, you know this with the same confidence that you know that the sun will rise in the morning.

“There we go,” Jesse murmurs as he moves closer to you, “Just relax.” He releases one of your hands and presses it soothingly against your hip, “You’re doing great, cyare. Can you feel the water against your fins?”

“Mmhmm,”

“Excellent job,” Jesse praises, “Can you try and move your side fin for me sweetheart?”

“I…how?”

He hums thoughtfully, and then presses a quick kiss against your lips, before he swims several feet away. You almost panic when you start sinking, but then, it’s like something snaps into place, and you’re able to find your tail. 

“Excellent job,” Jesse says with a grin as you keep yourself on level with him, “Now. Come over to me and get a kiss.”

You huff good naturedly as you turn your head to look at him. For a moment you don’t move, but then, slowly, you manage to turn and swim the short distance between you and Jesse.

He grins at you and sweeps you into his arms as you stop in front of him, his lips falling heavily against yours. “Stars, I love you.” he breathes against your lips, “Look at you, picking up swimming so quickly.” He peppers feather light kisses all over your face for long enough that you dissolve into giggles.

You reach up and cup his face, “I love you too. So much.” Your smile widens, “And now you’re all mine.”

“Was always all yours,” Jesse corrects, “Now we’re just part of the same world.” He kisses you one more time, and then pulls away, “Now that you have the basics down, let’s go home. I want to show you our grotto. I’ve been perfecting it for months.”

You swim over to him and take his hand, “Show me the way?”

His gaze is bright as his eyes lock with yours, “Always.”

The goal of Fandom Friday: provide a place where people can shout-out their favorite creators from the week, whether it’s a piece of fan art that made you smile or a fanfic that moved you. Drop a link to your favorite creations this week into my ask box along with what you loved about it, and I will give them a shout! It doesn’t have to be Star Wars either! If it’s on another website (AO3, Twitter, etc.), please be sure to state that as well.

This happens each week, so don’t feel like you’ve got to get out everything in one week. Just keep track of them throughout the week or send me an ask whenever you find something, and I’ll drop them all on Fridays (or throughout the weekend if I get a lot). You can submit GIF sets or edits, but please ensure you are submitting from the blog that actually created them. Wanted to add that caution since there’s been a lot of people stealing/reposting GIFs and edits in particular recently. So just be cautious.

Try to avoid commentary in your ask that might make others feel bad (“the only person who knows how to write XXX correctly…”). It’s important to be able to appreciate creators without making others feel bad, so let’s try to keep the commentary complimentary without being off-putting for other creators.

This modern!AU got a liiiiiittle bit more absurdist than planned, but NO REGRETS. Assistance was provided by @dharmaavocado and @deadcatwithaflamethrower -- THANK YOU BOTH!

There was a lovely breeze coming in across the ocean, the sky had just enough puffy white clouds to keep things interesting, and Rex was taking a maintenance day. The last family group of tourists to charter a day trip had included several children that were at least two parts sticky and three parts grime. His poor Vigilance needed a serious scrub down, and Rex was not looking forward to restocking. Small Grubby Fiend 1 had stumbled – supposedly due to a sudden swell, but more likely because Small Grubby Fiends 2 and 3 hadn’t stopped ‘not kicking’ each other for way too long. Not being an entire idiot, Rex has gone right for the band-aids with cartoon characters, but since it wasn’t a cartoon Small Grubby Fiend 1 liked, that meant another – until all three Small Grubby Fiends had been plastered with far more of his first aid kit than was good for anyone.

It had been a long day.

So there he was, untangling life-vests that hadn’t even been used, while singing along with whatever music was playing from the boat’s speakers. Rex wasn’t sure if the music was pop, rock, or some other unholy category he’d never heard of, but thankfully it didn’t matter. He liked it, and could figure out which of Tup’s mix tapes it was on, which was the important thing.

Tup always made hilarious offended noises when Rex called them mix tapes, which was a significant reason why he did so. They were music folders, sensibly labeled by mood, because his little brother had realized at some point that was the only way to keep Rex up to date on anything past the 90’s grunge music.

Tup’s accusation, not his. Rex damn well knew how to use a radio – several kinds of radio, thank you very much.

He was several songs into mind-numbing chores when he spotted a flash of red streaking under the dock, and Rex ducked his head to hide a grin. He’d started spotting movement like that a couple of weeks ago, around the time the neighbors descended on their beach house. There were several ginger teenagers, so he figured one of them was a hell of a water rat who had damn odd taste in music.

To be fair, so did he.

It’d been weird at first, realizing he had an audience that disappeared the moment he acknowledged their existence. But the most he heard or saw out of them beyond the momentary glimpse was a bit of percussion, someone drumming in time against the water – and once, the dock itself – so Rex had shrugged and accepted their presence. It was kinda nice, actually, just to have someone around. He lived a ways off the end of a long, sparsely populated road, and while he didn’t mind the solitude, sometimes you just wanted another–

Rex’s train of thought went off the rails with a loud yelp as he discovered something slimy stuck to the back of a life-vest. It might have been edible once – it was a shade of radioactive green he didn’t associate with anything other than candy or video games, at least, so that was his best guess. Much as he wanted to blame the Small Grubby Fiends, he hadn’t done more than a spot check of these vests for awhile – could’ve been anyone.

Ugh. At least unlike some clients he could name, Rex’s eavesdropper wasn’t vandalizing anything. Wasn’t about to begrudge that.

Rex had managed to get most of the neon green grossness cleared when the rumble of an approaching car caught his attention. He wasn’t expecting visitors, not that that had ever stopped any of his brothers. Lost delivery drivers usually turned around before hitting up the driveway, which was long enough and had enough private property signs to keep out idiots looking for easy water access.

“Who the hell is this?” he muttered, setting the vest aside. He didn’t recognize the little black car, or the burly guy stepping out of the passenger’s side, but the guy waved and casually started towards Rex as if he knew who the hell he was.

Not reassuring, especially since the stranger rapped the car’s roof, and it headed back up the driveway.

“You seem lost,” Rex said, standing up and trying to look just the right level of intimidating.

“Nope,” the guy said back, still heading towards him. “Need your boat.”

“That’s work related – you need to wait till I’m back at the marina tomorrow. I’m at home, it’s my day off.”

Burly guy finally stopped, planting his hands on his hips – a move which just happened to part the jacket of his cheap suit enough that Rex could see the gun he carried. “I don’t think you understand, Mr. Fett. I don't want any trouble – I just want you to head inside, and take that day off while I borrow your boat.”

Oh, FUCK. Nobody really talked about how the mob owned most of the marinas in Tatooine Bay, but you didn’t need to declare water was wet to get drenched in the rain. It just wasn’t something that ever happened to someone you knew, just friends of friends or something.

“And if I don’t agree?” he couldn’t keep from asking.

Burly Guy had a surprisingly expressive shrug. “Most people don’t enjoy pushing their luck that far.”

To his credit, it was a remarkably polite threat. “I’m surprised anyone ever does.”

“Eh, every now and then there’s some freaky masochist looking for cheap thrills, but it ain’t my kink. Don’t think it’s yours, either, so if you’d just head inside, that’d be appreciated.”

The smart move was probably to comply. Rex wasn’t inclined to cooperate anyways. He was saved from making either bad decision by...sound.

It didn’t register as singing – there was something too off about it, a combination that wasn’t quite autotune, or that polyphonic singing Echo had gotten into when Fives got obsessed with the guitar. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t right in a way that was madly distracting.

The...singing? – pulled both Rex and the goon around towards the end of the dock, and if Rex hadn’t been so muzzy-headed from that sound he would have been gaping much more blatantly.

There was someone slipping out from under the dock, and it was most definitely not one of the neighbors.

It was a trim, shirtless figure in the water – ginger indeed, short red hair just dry enough to be messy spikes. Pale skin was freckled in scales of shimmering reds, protective lines over what would be vulnerable areas on a human. It swam close enough to the surface that Rex could see the sleek fins and tail, and part of his brain kept screaming ‘mermaid!’ while the rest took in the long, sharp claws on webbed hands and whispered ‘predator.’ Its singing showed sharply pointed teeth, and it should not have been nearly that gorgeous.

The mermaid glanced over at him, eyes a deep blue-on-blue that could never masquerade as human, flicking a look up and down him that could have been flattering or terrifying – it all depended on if that was measuring him for a meal euphemistically or not.

The singing changed as the creature turned its attention back to the goon, and the magnetic pull on Rex lessened. He staggered back a step, not too surprised to find he was halfway down the dock without noticing. The hazy feeling in his brain stopped, or at least dropped down to levels that were close enough to normal, so he got a clear view as the goon started walking into the water, oblivious to everything except the mer-siren-thing he was shambling towards.

The siren moved when the goon was almost waist deep in the water, flowing forward to delicately place a hand at the goon’s throat. The singing continued, but now there was a new undertone, soft and somehow questioning. Rex couldn’t tell if there were words to it or not – maybe a whole other language for all he knew – but the goon responded, voice soft enough that he couldn’t make out what was said.

Whatever he said, it didn’t please the siren. It kept singing, but it snarled, showing more of those pointed teeth, then it twisted and dove, hauling the unresisting goon under the water.

A terrifying few moments more, and the last hums of the song seemed to stop vibrating through the water.

“What the absolute fuck?” Rex said numbly. Thank everything, no one answered.

A smart man would’ve hidden inside, or driven off to a movie theater or something – inland and away. Rex wasn’t sure why he stayed: curiosity – morbid or otherwise – shock, or a healthy disbelief in the whole debacle. He was maybe a bit too numb to not have some kind of shock, but –

He felt like he maybe deserved it. “Yeah, I can have a bit of shock,” Rex muttered to himself. “As a treat.”

Okay, he might have more than a bit. But by the time the siren poked his head out of the water again – politely out of arms’ reach – Rex had calmed down a decent degree. They just looked at each other for a bit, then the siren gave him a polite nod.

“Hello there,” he said in a pleasant, deep voice with a hell of an accent.

Rex held up a hand, needing a moment. Of fucking course the British even colonized under the goddamned sea. “Hi. You speak English.” It wasn’t quite the most inane thing he could’ve said, but his brain hadn’t managed to catch up yet.

He was talking to a goddamned mermaid who had just kidnapped and possibly eaten some mob thug who’d been trying to take Rex’s boat. It had been a day.

“You’re not the first land-dweller I’ve made the acquaintance of.”

Rex absolutely refused to make any kind of a crack about being charmed. There was too much hysteria lurking in there. “Speaking of acquaintances, you didn’t, ah, kill that guy, did you?”

The siren’s lips pulled back from his teeth a little. “I still haven’t decided what to do with him, so right now he’s out of the way.” He must’ve seen something impressive in Rex’s expression, because the angry disdain smoothed over to something more neutral. “He’s stashed in a cave I know. Enough air to breathe, but the only entrance is underwater and too far for most humans to swim without assistance.”

That was...a lot. “Thanks for the help.”

The siren smiled, an oddly sweet, bashful expression. “I’d be a very poor guest if I didn’t assist.” He cleared his throat, his expression going awkward. “Though I...suppose ‘guest’ is a bit presumptive.”

Rex grinned. “No, I spotted you a couple weeks ago – ah, I mean, sort of.” Before he could make more a hash of that, he cleared his throat. “The name’s Rex.”

The siren folded his hands together and did a little bow thing. “Obi-Wan. Pleasure to meet you.”

He wasn’t blushing. He absolutely was not blushing. “So...you in town for long?” Ok, now he was blushing, that was worst subject change ever meeting worst fishing attempt – meeting worst and wildly inappropriate pun.

Obi-Wan’s expression fell, sorrow way too visible in those non-human eyes. “I suppose you could say that. I...no longer have a home to return to.”

Definitely not a topic to change to. Right. Rex cleared his throat and shifted. “Well. You’re welcome anytime, for what that’s worth.”

The slow-growing smile didn’t remove that sorrow, but it did kindle something warm inside. This was at least three different kinds of trouble, but Rex didn’t think he’d regret any of it.
