Chapter 6

Summary: Obey Me! Fairy tale au. A retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.

Warmth and light. Asmo felt comforted.

He opened his eyes to gentle sunlight spilling through the window and the sound of crashing waves on the beach.

You lay with him still entangled in your arms.

He sat up.

“I’m still here.” He said aloud.

“Asmo,” Your eyes fluttered open, roused from your slumber by the sound of his voice. “You can speak?”

He hummed, touching his throat to feel the way his vocal cords vibrated.

“I can!” He marveled at the sound of his own voice returned to him. It had been so long. He fought the urge to dance around the room.

He pulled you into his chest, hugging you tightly.

You laughed, wrapping your arms around him.

He didn't want to let you go. His heart pounded in his chest. He felt alive and warm and human. And that meant…

“MC,” He pulled away from the hug reluctantly, still holding your hands in his. “I thought you’d given your heart to Simeon.”

“I-” You paused, confused. “How did you know?”

“Because I’m still here.” His voice was barely a whisper. He knew you wouldn't understand, he’d told you very little of himself and nothing of the pact he’d made.

You still answered him, looking down shyly. “I couldn't give my heart to him," you said. “My heart belongs to someone else.” You touched the pearl necklace around your neck.

“Do you mean that?” He pressed a hand to his heart.

You nodded. "When I saw you last night, I knew. It was only ever you."

And you did mean it, otherwise he wouldn't have still been there.

Your heart belonged to Asmo and no one else. He knew that now. Tears were streaming down his face now, tears of joy. You cupped his cheek and he leaned into your touch.

“Oh, MC,” He savored the sound of your name on his lips as he said it a second time. “My dear MC.”

Asmo pressed his forehead to yours, bringing his hands up to your face, and he said the very words he’d wanted to tell you from the beginning, “I love you.”

He kissed you long and slow as the morning sun shone kindly on the sea.

EPILOGUE

Asmo explained how he was once a merman and a prince of the sea, and that he’d been the one to save you from drowning that one night so long ago. He told you how he’s traded his legs for the chance to see you and obtain a soul. And he explained that had you not given your heart to him freely, he would have dissolved into seafoam and died.

You cried for him and the pain you had caused him. You knew very well what it was like to feel alone and empty, and the fact that you'd caused him to feel that way was difficult to hear. If only you’d realized your own feelings for him sooner.

He forgave you, of course.

After a while, Asmo remembered the knife under the bed and that his brothers were waiting for him.

Asmo’s brothers were on the reef nearby, expecting the worst when he hadn’t emerged by sunrise. They wept, lamenting their dear brother who was lost to them, or so they thought.

You and Asmo walked out onto the balcony, hand in hand as the tide was beginning to pull in.

The brothers gave a great cheer as they saw Asmo was still alive. They swam up to the balcony to take a look at the two of you. They kissed Asmo and they touched your hands, wishing you both well.

The wedding was called off with no ill will between you and Simeon. He wished for your happiness and Asmo would give you just that.

The Crown Prince was able to negotiate with the Old Wizard to settle Lucifer’s pact, allowing the Wizard back into the kingdom as payment.

Lucifer beamed with pride as he met the object of his younger brother’s affection. And your union was approved by the Crown Prince of the Sea.

You and Asmo were married in a small ceremony in front of his brothers, the Crown Prince, and the few humans you were close to.

Your days were to be forever filled with walking on the beach, dancing, and looking up at the stars from your little boat. Always together.

And you both lived happily ever after…

Solomon: Mc!!!

Mc: So now I'm mature enough??

Lucifer: This and that are different things!!!!

Mc: Any of you let me go to the lantern festival with my classmates at night because I was too young!!!!! Too young to understand the dangers of Devildom!!!!!

Mc: And now I am old enough to solve diplomatic problems that can affect the whole political balance of hell? Nu, nu, I refuse, it's your problem.

Lucifer: Mc please…

Simeon: We are asking you on our knees…

Solomon: This is very serious… We'll do whatever you want.

Mc: Nope, I'm too young to understand the seriousness of this situation, I leave it to you, the ADULTS.

The three of them: Mc!!!!

Mc: Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an afternoon tea with the queen of the mermaids *leaves*.

Meanwhile at the back of the room, calm because had already asked Mc help and the problem was solved.

Diavolo: Did you see that?

Barbatos: *smiling* Yes, my lord

Diavolo: *funnily* And everyone told me that it was a bad idea to give Mc a government position :D.

Random Obey Me Headcanons

Lucifer: Keeps a log of damage repair costs. Would constantly listen to music if he didn't have to worry about his brothers 24/7. Feels constant guilt.

Mammon: Rizz turns into sexual harassment. Holds a pencil like a kindergartener. Has a bad poker face but lies really well during games.

Leviathan: Raises hell if someone grieves his Minecraft world. Almost shat himself once walking into the kitchen late at night and seeing Beel hovering over the counter. He thought it was Lucifer and now has paranoia late at night.

Satan: Has gotten tripped up by cats on multiple occasions. One time when messing around with spells, he turned a book into a dog and almost had a stroke trying to catch it and deactivate the spell.

Asmodeus: Critics every fashion/makeup trend before doing them. 100% has a walk-in closet. Is a girls girl, but under no circumstances will he share his favorite lipstick.

Beelzebub: Doesn't realize a dare is a dare, especially when he's dared to eat something. Almost passed out from Solomon's food on multiple occasions.

Belphgor: Tried to give himself a piercing the day after falling from the sky. Has scoliosis and the shittiest posture known to man. Has fallen asleep standing up before and does it frequently.

Diavolo: Does not care enough to read the room sometimes, like what are they going to do? Talk back to him about it? AKA uses his prince privileges to get away with minor things like that.

Barbatos: Used to drink two cups of black coffee in the morning before the brothers started to stay at the castle. Turned to tea one morning when Lucifer used up the last of the coffee and hasn't gone back since.

Simeon: Once he tried to teach Solomon how to bake after hearing how bad the human's skills in the kitchen were. Key word; once. Has warm ass hands. Taught Luke how to bake and how to correctly frost a cake after knowing the boy for a week.

Luke: Would be a menace to society if Simeon didn't end up looking after him in Devildom. Tugs on people's clothes to get their attention. Has better handwriting than Mammon and even Levi.

Solomon: Has scary good hand-eye coordination. Would set up some elaborate situation where he swoops in at the last second and "saves the day" He Almost drowned once as a kid playing mermaids. (He said his power was controlling the water.)

Ok first of all I love, love LOVE your story, I am too invested. Second, how does hybrids work in your story? Like is it possible for Vamps and say wolves to have offspring together? and vampire main char when? sorry for all the questions😭😭

Short answer - hybrids are possible, to a degree.

Long answer: Simeon and his mother are the only known hybrid so far (Spellcaster + Faerie) She inherited wings and a stronger connection to nature magic as did Simeon - minus the wings. Fae genes aren’t very strong when it comes to physical attributes but the magic is consistent through the generations. 1st generation hybrid may have horns or wings or both but after that, it simmers down.

Werewolves are different. So the only way you can be born a wolf is by being born a Mooncaster (like Jackson and his sister Ava). I see werewolves the way I see vampires. You have to be turned. Becoming a werewolf is very intentional and you need magic for that.

Vampires, same thing. You won’t see any baby vampires running around unless you turn one and they’re forever a tiny blood sucker 😭

Werewolves and Vampires do not have their own source of magic despite being a product of it, thus cannot reproduce occult offspring.

So the breakdown is like :

Humans + Magic Occult (Spellcaster, Mooncaster, Faerie, Mermaid) = becomes that Occult.

Magic Occult + Magic Occult = Mixed Magic abilities & physical attributes

As for vampire mc , just like how I’m doing the whole werewolf chapter now in COTF, I’m planning a vampire one as well where we also flashback to when L. Faba turned 😌. Vampires are very much “final boss” material in my story lol so their time is coming. We gotta deal with their minions first, the occult hunters.

Noe Bodi Gameplay: Day 29

WE CHECKING IN ON ALL THE SIMS WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jeremiah (@seulvgi) was up early in the morning, trying to call Kash (@saruin) to talk things out. But she didn't pick up. Of course she was still asleep. He spent the rest of that morning power sculpting through his feelings, determined to meet up with the girl of his dreams and fix whatever was broken.

Kash was actually NOT asleep; she was just unsure of what to say to him right now. She knew she'd never felt anything like this before, but she also knew things were harder with him than they'd been with anyone else. So she made herself a lil microwavable chocolate cake to distract herself from her uncertainties.

Between you and me, I checked their relationship bits. As you can see, these are soulmates with awful compatibility. Which means they're going to have to work twice as hard to have the happily ever after they're looking for. Do you believe they can make it?

Noemy(@beebeesiims) was having a much better morning. After reading an inspirational book of poems, she hurtled into the kitchen with energy on 100 and made TWO excellent dishes: Pasta Primavera and Red Velvet Cupcakes. You are doing AMAZING sweetie.

Pandora(@gloomiegalaxie-sims), exploring the Magnolia Promenade, celebrated her first snow in the SimWorld by skating around the local ice rink with Simeon Silversweater and Ukupanipo Hekekia, funnily enough (cause I know these mermaids aren't feeling the winter weather).

Donna(@elysiantrait) went to the Art Center bar and had a grand time drinking with Kleo(@lotusplum) and Riaan(@wibblywobblytumblywumbly). She wasn't even interested in the art! Maybe she was just looking to mingle with new sims? Well, they all got that wish granted!

You know who was actually there for the art? Pax(@theosconfessions) and Khalil(@fl0pera). Two buds with fine taste. Look at their lil' smiles!

Maike(@fl0pera) was sparring outside in the brick cold because a true slayer never quits training. She's gotten quicker since the last time I saw her.

Rhea(@fl0pera) was changing into her uniform (which isn't cute enough for her) and heading out to work like the hardworking badass she is.

Martin(@starjira) was investigating a possible missing persons case around Willow Creek and ended up sitting in the park to observe who comes and goes in the area.

The only sim around at the time was Hiro(@sofft-neko-sims), who was playing chess with himself.

That night, Luco's(@tr-angyo) house was filled with cheer as he spoiled his guests Felix(@madfeary), Rain(@riverofjazzsims), and Stephanie(@kazuaru) to their hearts' desire.

And look, even Mothman(@occultradio) was there!

Rivers(@gloomiegalaxie-sims) and Lou Howell were watching TV at his place with no problems at first...

Until they remembered it was a Full Moon.

Aaaand last but certainly not least, my simself Noe Bodi was sipping on that late night Bubble at ThirfTea and looking fly while doing it. AS. USUAL.

She also ran into Noemy there, so that was nice. They finally met!

I'm so grateful to everyone who has given a sim to use in this series. I've been having so much fun making myself PLAY the game instead of just taking pictures (as much as i love to do that) because now I can enjoy the gameplay mods I've used up so much computer space to download! 🤣 There will be more coming soon, with more sims and more chaotic interactions, but for now, the representative song for this gameplay is: "People Make The World Go Round."

How are they Captured? and Luke!

Has it been mentioned how they got taken or is that not relevant?

It has been mentioned! Although briefly. Their capture is slightly relevant for later events, but don't worry there is more than enough recap and context when it happens.

As for Levi, it is mentioned in Chapters 4, 17 and 26! He was found in an oil leak. He passed out due to a lack of oxygen and that's where RID’s staff found him. The RID search parties tend to observe such accidents closely as mermaids, sirens, kelpies or other aquatic creatures also tend to suffer or die from them. (This time they found a much larger catch lmao)

For Mammon it was mentioned briefly in chapter 13, he got into a huge fight with the leader of his flock. Due to this, he was found in a weakened and vulnerable position. Subduing was easy enough and then they brought him to RID to heal him.

If I had to rewrite this story I would have made the oil leak have a much bigger impact on Levi rather than it being brushed off like this. But for now, it's a pretty minor thing!

Is Luke going to be a human or a monster? Due to this question, I COMPLETELY forgot to mention it in my fanfic omg I'm such a horrible writer. Uhm in case I manage to not squeeze it back in, Simeon has told MC that he has a little cousin named Luke! However Luke is extremely camera shy, so MC hasn't actually seen what Luke looks like, Simeon has only described him to them. Important to mention the two aren't related, Luke is adopted. Despite Luke’s adoption being fairly recent(only a few years!), Simeon expressed that they quickly became extremely close and was often tasked with babysitting him. (before the events of the story as Simeon now works full-time) And well for your question, I can't say for sure if he’s human or not. After all, nobody but Simeon has seen him so far.

In this AU, the characters from Obey Me! are all mermaids living in an underwater world filled with magic and wonder.

1. Simeon is a graceful and elegant mermaid, known for his kind and gentle nature. He spends his days tending to his garden of seaweed and sea flowers, and he often shares his harvest with his friends and neighbors.

2. Solomon is a powerful sorcerer and merman, feared and respected by many. He uses his magic to protect his home and those he cares about, but he also enjoys experimenting with new spells and potions in his underwater laboratory.

3. Luke is a curious and adventurous merboy, always eager to explore new parts of the ocean and discover new creatures. He has a special bond with the sea turtles and often swims with them, marveling at their grace and wisdom.

4. Mephistopheles is a mischievous and playful merman, known for his love of pranks and practical jokes. He is often seen riding on the backs of dolphins and sea lions, laughing and causing mayhem wherever he goes.

5. Thirteen is a beautiful and mysterious mermaid, with long flowing hair and a mesmerizing voice. She spends much of her time singing and playing her harp, enchanting all who hear her music.

Together, the mermaids and mermen of the Devildom create a vibrant and diverse underwater community, filled with magic, wonder, and adventure.

Chapter 5

A formal announcement arrived at your castle, inviting you and your guest to a birthday celebration for Simeon later in the week. You carefully prepared for the night, even having new clothes made for you and Asmo. You were insistent that everything would be perfect. Because he would be there and you wanted to please him.

The celebration was lavish. Hundreds of people were in attendance, all to celebrate Simeon’s birth.

The orchestra played the waltzes you knew so well, you and Asmo taking to the floor right away.

People whispered about Asmo, the ethereal being who danced like an angel from the heavens. But he took no notice, his attention was on you.

You danced together until Simeon arrived and you were swept up in his arms.

Asmo looked on, robbed of your warmth.

You remained with Simeon until the clock struck midnight.

There were three days of celebration with a ball ending each night. And each night you spent in Simeon’s arms, dancing for all to see.

That first night Simeon had complimented your smile.

The second, your eyes.

And by the third he asked for your hand in marriage.

Asmo danced at each ball as if he didn't have a care in the world but inside, his heart was breaking. He was devastated. You would be giving your heart to another, if you hadn't already.

Asmo was just your “little foundling”-- your diversion, your pretty pet. And soon he would be lost to the sea.

Oh how he wanted to scream and sing and mourn, but his lips were silent and he took everything with a lovely smile on his face.

Your morning walks on the beach were cut short, there was no time for dancing before dinner. And Asmo barely saw you. He walked the halls of the castle like a ghost. Try as he might, neither his expressive eyes nor his writing could reach you.

But Asmo couldn't bring himself to hate you or Simeon. Simeon did seem to have so much love for you, he spoke to you as an equal. You looked so happy with him, your smile was never ending. And Asmo was still deeply in love with you.

The time came for you to announce your engagement, so you threw a ball at your own castle.

You invited Asmo to get ready with you, helping him into his newly tailored suit. His beauty shone brightly. But he sat silently as you dressed and set your hair, his own toilette forgotten in his grief, not that he needed to do much to look perfect..

You reached for his hand, as he’d promised to escort you to the ball where your love would be waiting.

He shook his head.

There was a question on your lips.

Wait. He wrote.

Asmo unclasped his pearl necklace and held it out to you.

I want you to have this.

“Oh, Asmo I couldn’t.” You said, trying to push his hand away.

It’s my wedding present to you, and as thanks for saving me. Besides, it matches your outfit.

You hesitated before finally accepting the necklace at his insistence.

You let him help you put it on. The pearls he clasped around your neck seemed to cry.

Remember me, remember me. They said.

His eyes screamed for you, begging for you to hold him. To give him your heart as he’d given you his.

But you were turned away and did not hear him.

Asmo took your arm and escorted you to the ballroom, knowing full well he was giving you away to another.

As you and Simeon turned about the ballroom, greeting your guests as they wished you a blessed marriage, Asmo danced as he’d never danced before, elegantly poised like a swallow in the air as it pursues its prey. Every step held the pain of his loss, every turn echoed his love. But he did not cry. His amber eyes held his little secret locked away from the world.

At the end of the night, Simeon kissed you in front of the crowd of hundreds.

The next morning you were feeling ill and too tired to walk on the beach. You took breakfast in your room alone and you remained there for the entire day. Your wedding would be tomorrow and you needed the rest. Servants dashed about the castle, preparing for your wedding. Notes were sent back and forth from your estate to Simeon’s.

Twenty-nine days had passed since Asmo had made his pact with the Sea Wizard, making this the thirtieth day. He was going to die and the last time he'd seen you was when you were in Simeon’s arms.

He was too numb to cry, he spent hours staring at the crashing waves, watching the white foam wash up on the beach, remembering what he would become by dawn.

He visited Luke in the stables and Barbatos in the kitchen. He took his dinner with them, feeling nothing. More than once he found himself outside your door but he couldn't bring himself to knock.

Asmo lay in bed that evening, listening to the waves crash against the rocks below the castle. Like the man in the opera he’d failed his simple task. You were giving your heart to another and he would have no soul. He wanted to go home.

Near midnight he stepped out onto the balcony. He longed to feel the sea air on his face one last time. He thought he heard the mournful song of his brothers, but that was impossible.

The tide was pushing up against the balcony.

“Asmodeus,” someone called.

He looked into the water.

Five figures rose up from the depths. His brothers.

“Asmodeus!” They cried.

He tried to call out to them but his lips were silent as ever.

His heart clenched at the sight of them. He knelt on the balcony, reaching to touch each of them. He hoped this was not a dream.

“We’ve missed you so,” said Mammon.

“Please come back to us,” said Beel.

I can’t. He mouthed.

“We know you will turn to seafoam and die if you do not secure the heart of the human by dawn tomorrow,” said Belphie.

Asmo gave a sad smile, resigned.

Where is Lucifer?

“Lucifer has gone to the Great Wizard Solomon to make a pact with him.” said Levi. “He will serve the Wizard in exchange for your return.”

Asmo felt as if he would cry. Lucifer had traded his freedom and betrayed the kingdom for something Asmo could not give.

He shook his head.

“The Crown Prince has already agreed to welcome you back to the kingdom,” said Satan. He handed Asmo a knife. “The Wizard’s spell will be broken if you kill the human as they sleep and let their blood spill upon your legs. Your tail will return and you can come back to us.”

Asmo hesitated.

“Please hurry, dawn approaches!”

Asmo’s five brothers dove back down into the water, leaving him alone with the knife in his hands.

He stood on the balcony until the air chilled him to the bone.

If he could only do this, he could go home. He could be with his brothers. He wouldn't get his voice back but at least he could hear them sing, a sound he missed so desperately. He could swim with them and he would promise to never leave them again.

He made his way to your room, pushing open the door. He approached your bedside. All was quiet except for the waves.

You slept so peacefully, likely dreaming of your wedding day. He kissed your forehead.

He looked at the knife and then he looked back at you.

He didn't want to die. He cursed himself for the stupid pact he'd made. He’d given up everything for you. And yet it meant nothing.

The knife shook in his hand as he pushed back the comforter.

You were still wearing the pearl necklace he had given to you. He couldn’t bear it. Tears flowed down Asmo’s cheeks. He couldn't bring himself to kill you.

You who he’d fallen in love with from the moment he saw you in your little boat. You who’d been so lonely you’d taken him in after he, a stranger, washed up on the beach. You who had taught him how to dance. You who held his heart.

“Asmo?” Your eyes were blurred with sleep. Asmo dropped the knife. You sat up in bed.

Asmo couldn't stop crying

“Oh, my dear, are you alright? Did you have a nightmare?” You reached out to him and pulled him into your bed. You wrapped your arms around him, holding him close. “You’re so cold.” You pulled the comforter over both of you as you laid back down.

He shook with sobs as you cooed and sang to him to calm his troubled heart, one song blending in with the next. He buried his face in your chest and clung to you as if you would slip away at any moment. He felt the vibration of your voice through your chest as you held him.

He was home.

Asmo knew he would die once the sun rose but it didn't matter anymore. He didn't need a soul or his voice or even his legs. He just needed you and these last few moments in your arms.

After a while your voice began to fade away, and Asmo succumbed to sleep.

Gen 3. Aurora #30 The Last Golden Date

After feeding Maisie, Phillip said, "What do you say we head out of the forest today?" "Wha-what do you mean? Where would we go?" "There's a beautiful waterfall out there. And something really cool I wanted to show you." "Really? I've always wanted to see water... but ... I promised I wouldn't leave the forest."

"Please, Briar Rose? I promise I wouldn't let you come to any harm."

"You promise we won't do anything stupid?" "Promise."

"Phillip! How much further? I've never been this far from home before! It's already getting so dark." "Almost there..."

"Woah! What's that?" "Isn't that neat? I found it the other day while I was jogging."

"What do you think? Should we try to go through?" "What?! No! Of course not. We have no idea where that thing goes."

"Alright, Briar Rose. I promised you wouldn't be in danger. Let's just enjoy the waterfall."

"Actually, I think I know where it goes. You see, I think my guardians are wizards. I catch them doing magic from time to time, just like in my fairytale books. I bet this goes their secret world. They're always taking off on trips."

as far 90s shows, did anyone watch any of these:

teen angel it was like on after sabrina or something during the tgif era of the 90s? i found it lowkey funny, idk if it was like shortlived i assume that, but idk if it was good or cringey? i think it was only on for one or two at the most seasons, i remember he would literally talk to the moon/stars/god but also like have teenager hijinks

smart guy as it is, a smart guy. young kid maybe 10 years old in college, skiped grade school/high school and is now in college with his dumb brother. i think it was on disney channel.

my brother and me a two season show on nickelodeon in the 90s, i don't remember that much about it tbh, just that it existed and i know i watched it but idk if it held my attention. it seemed run of the mill early nickeloeon two brothers, their friends and random things that would happen like in the style of most of the shows of the time.

gulah gulah island a show about a family and a large amphibian friend of their family on a island (where is gulahgulah?) i was able to do a killer impression of the pollywog. i would make a garden bc the mom had one in the summer before kindergarten and i would sing plant a seed in my garden, my garden my garden plant a seed in my garden watch it grow 🎶 i still if i hear it on a nostalgic video sing the theme. i found out the husband and wife are an actual couple irl earlier this year, and simeon (sp?) and shayna i think was their child biologically. the other two kids were hired to be their other kids, the one daughter was on keenan and kel as far as i know. she played keenan's sister who crushed on kel after gulah gulah ended.

pete and pete a show in the 90's quirky as all get out. good music, good vibes, a child with a beautiful mermaid tattoo and more questions than answers tbh. the mom had a plate in her head, thee dad was oblivious, speaking of oblivious the next show:

the secret world of alex mac yet another 90's show, about a girl with a secret, which the theme gives you the run down, alex is not average in the slightest. i loved that show and people often forget all about it.

so let's just say everyone knows sabrina, but do they remember clarissa? if you don't know, clarissa explains it all. i think there were a few things she didn't know about, or left out. clarissa was the effortlessly cool girl, but she was also painfully average and her brother reminded her of that, much to her chargrin. from her cool ass bedroom, her boy bestie sam who'd climb in the window via ladder, and she nonchalantly greeted him with a friendly, "hi sam!", her weird ginger brother who was like a 'genius' but a jerk at the same time, her descriptions and slideshows about things she'd explain in detail at length, her dated little computer, her pet in the sandbox and a lot more things i forgot or are self-explanatory. na na nanna, nananananaana, hey cool!

doug if he's not bangin' on a trashcan, blasting killer tofu, arguing with his parents, clashing with his thespian sister, in the company of a blue dog named after dinner parents cook and kids love to hate, beefing with a rival in a leather jacket with a cat sidekick, or with mayor's stuck up daughter, surrounded by random kids with quirky names and dining a cool hangout called the honker burger he was writing in a journal or dreaming of fake worlds that are anything but normal. he was doug was one of the defining guys in 90s cool back in the day, he was cool bc he wasn't a showboat or an over confident or arrogant guy like chalky studebaker at times, or green-skinned rival roger who came off like a coward internally but tough and had an obnoxious laugh on the outside. he 's a guy in middle school with tensions with the principal, a total everyman with a big imagination who wrote his dreams, thoughts, and hopes in a journal, crushed on his girl next door/the show essential 'good girl' patti mayonnaise and of course, he had a loyal bestie skeeter. if it were 99-the 00s it was the spongebob/patrick dynamic, and even doug had an alter ego which was quail man. i believe the original story of doug, he was new to town and he came to be fast friends with skeeter, and quick enemies with their principal who always threatened him to put things on his permanent record, which i was afraid of when it was time for me to go to school when it came to going to the office for anything tbh.

Plotting out "Midnight Masquerade" (Disney Movie)

Background: Following Disney's foray back into fairy tales (and let's assume success in the revived interest), they continue down a list of potential stories to adapt, eventually coming across the tale of "The 12 Dancing Princesses." Knowing that they can't take any chances, they nab Ron Musker and Ron Clements as directors, along with Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow as the songwriters (let's assume "Bad Fairies" has already come out and heightens their reputation) to emulate the radio sound they did with "Six" while still having musical theater quality. Disney believes that since they managed to create a phenomenon with "Encanto," which also circles on 12 family members, they have a good start. Originally, the film follows the story more strictly and is planned to be 2D, with 12 sisters, their father, and a war veteran who's roughly in his 30s-40s (the story stated that he "wasn't a young man"), but Disney runs into snags writing 12 siblings and wanting other characters, as well as the problem marketing an older male lead; if he was with a younger woman, it'd cause concerns with parents, but if his love interest was older, it'd be harder to sell her to girls and young women. So eventually the idea is altered, with the 12 sisters being condensed into 6 (NOT intentional to the songwriters' musical), the war veteran being changed into a young prince, and the art style being 3D as per usual these days (and Disney not wanting to get too comfortable since the last two films were 2D and a blend of animation, respectively). The film doesn't have a specific location, but while it was originally planned to be Victorian-inspired and influenced by Jane Austen novels (and rumors that a Latin American-inspired kingdom was considered, but no concept art exists for that), the finalized version is highly influenced by the Mediterranean--ironically, this, as well as the lead characters' designs, leads to comparisons to "The Little Mermaid." The magical land that the princesses travel to, however, is inspired by the land of Narnia. There was also apparent concept art leaked of the prince being depicted as Asian or mixed, but given that he has black hair and blue eyes, it sparked debate of the common trope of mixed-Asian characters (albeit usually female) being depicted with blue eyes, so while the idea of him being Asian was grieved for, the conversation simmered down quickly. The title of the film matches a Disney doll line, and they decide to combine the two, stating that several Disney characters make their way to the magical land at some point, making a "House of Mouse" situation.

Plot

Every full moon, the six princesses of Idala dissappear, and no one can figure out where they've gone. When a foreign prince takes up the task to find them, he finds that they've traveled beneath the castle through a portal to a world filled with ancient magic. However, while an intoxicating trip, he realizes that the king of the world is much more sinister than he lets on, and with time, the princesses will never be able to leave.

Characters

Alaric--Original names included "Solomon" "Wolfgang," and "Simeon," he is a wise and laidback prince who is visiting the Kingdom of Idala and hears about the king's sanity deteriorating since his daughters disappear once a month but no one knows where they go. To satisfy his own curiosity rather than for a reward, Alaric follows the sisters down a staircase in a conjoining bedroom that serves as a portal to another world. He is amazed at the colorful, dream-like quality of the dimension, and he has no desire to ruin the princess' fun, he reports what he finds to the king, but finds that the solution to the mystery is more difficult than he realized. The princesses often call him the cat prince due to his sneakiness, hard to read expressions, and occasionally mischievous behavior--plus he is a man of few words around the princesses, sometimes using hand gestures (NOT official sign language) rather than speaking. In fact, the first time the princesses heard him speak was when he was talking to himself. He somewhat perplexes them, because sometimes they'll find someone who said they had a long conversation with him, but he's tight-lipped around them, which he considers "payback" for the secrets they keep. Princess Calanthe calls him her "naughty kitty cat" (which makes him very bashful).

Calanthe--Originally named "Iris," the copper-haired princess in magenta is a middle child, the daughter of King Inachus, and often seen as unremarkable. Despite her intelligence and talent in various fields, this is nothing her sisters can't do, and Calanthe often feels powerless to her sisters who always defend her or rescue her from situations. She's bubbly and optimistic, often seen as naive in comparison to her more mature and "realistic" sisters. Due to the patronizing she's often faced, she occasionally has a snarky attitude amidst her usual upbeat personality. It was she who discovered the Land of Arkadia, an ancient land that stretches on as far as she can imagine. Something her and her sisters ponder is if the world exists independent of them, or if it is simply a form of magic that takes the form of their desires.

Dante--The older brother of King Inachus. When they were children, their father was killed by their uncle, who imprisoned them, though they were unaware of the true situation. When Inachus snuck out of the castle to explore the grounds, he discovered the truth, and he was rescue by a remorseful guard who worked for his uncle. Dante was believed to have been killed, but he managed to sneak away to the Land of Arcadia, and while he was originally a somewhat competent ruler, his trauma and lack of familial support led him to be a sadistic leader. He believes his brother has abandoned him, and lulls his nieces into a false sense of security to get them to forfeit their desire to leave and trap them forever. When inquired about why he doesn't just leave the land himself, he reveals that he never wants to walk the land his brother walks, and says that if Inachus dies from heartbreak, perhaps he'll consider step foot in Idala again. He often alternates between the youthful form he had when he came to Arkadia and an elderly form that best fits how he really looks now.

Songs

The World Below--King Inachus bemoans the fact that he has six beautiful and intelligent daughters, but once a month they disappear without a trace, distressing him greatly and making him fear foul play when they refuse to tell him of their whereabouts. The rumors of black magic has scared away potential proposals from foreign princes, so he has asked any man interested in solving the mystery, and he can marry the princess of his choice, but failure results in exile from Idala. Meanwhile, the princesses travel to the world of Arkadia, where a magical sprite guides and entertains them, none of the girls realizing the danger.

Send Me a Signal--Prince Alaric is invited by Inachus to try to find where his daughters are and if dark magic is at play. Before he officially accepts, the silent prince poses as a potential candidate for one of the princesses to marry, and spends most of his time in the library. As the princesses get used to his presence, they forget when he's around, and let their guard down when they go to Arkadia.

Next in Line--The princesses grow annoyed at their fathers' consistent invasion of their privacy, with the oldest considering passing on her crown to the second oldest, but she passes it on, and so on. Eventually they contemplate the idea of running away to Arkadia for a while to escape their responsibilities, but they realize that they can't all abandon their kingdom and their father, so they decide to save the conversation for another time.

Fantasy/Reality--Alaric and Calanthe have grown closer with time, and when he visits Arkadia with them, they become more aware of their feelings, though this opens up a conflict with the sisters (not just about Alaric, but he's the catalyst).

I Won't Forget This--In a mystical pool in King Dante's castle, Alaric, Calanthe, and two of her sisters see a vision of a young prince who survives an attempted murder and flees to Arkadia, and he grows up heartbroken over the belief that he was abandoned. (Fun fact: this was actually the title I was going to use for a song in my "Wish" rewrite).

Return--Dante is revealed to be Inachus' brother, and as he finally returns to Idala in order to give chase to Alaric and the sisters, he encounters Inachus, and they have a less than heartwarming reunion. With their treacherous uncle long dead, Dante only has Inachus to blame, who thought he had been killed.

I Need You (with elements of "I Won't Forget This" and "Fantasy/Reality")--After supposedly defeating Dante, Calanthe sacrifices herself to save Alaric. As Dante attempts to strip the life from her,n Inachus throws himself at his brother's feet, and he falters. The love between the brothers is still there, as is Alaric and Calanthe's love for each other. As the result of the shared love, Dante's spell is dispelled, and the family rejoices in their reunion. Dante returns to Arkadia, knowing that the family needs space for what he's done, but Calanthe vows to return to him for her and Alaric's wedding. The princesses realize that they can't run away from reality, and vow to take their responsibilities more seriously--though that doesn't mean their adventures in Arkadia are over.

October Gacha Monster Fest!
