WIP sentence game

Rules: you will be given a word. Then you share one sentence/excerpt from your wip(s) that starts with each letter of your word!

Thanks for the tag, @eirenical ! I got the word FORESTRY with a backup word of BRANDISH. I ended up doing both, though by the end, the R was really defeating me.

FORESTRY

F: Fang Duobing’s bright eyed excitement fades to mulish, lip poking out in a pout that Li Lianhua refuses to find adorable.

O: “Oh no, gorgeous boy,” Li Lianhua smiles at him, “I think you’ll be like that this time.”

R: “Retainer for what?”

E: Even before she makes the suggestion, Li Lianhua goes cold.

S: “Services.” What a polite way of putting it.

T: The first night, when Xiangyi shows up on her doorstep with He Xiaofeng’s nephew in tow, Qiao Wanmian ends up spending the night sobbing (after she hauled off and slugged him—her therapist says embracing her anger is healing, and wow, she was right about that).

R: Rolling his eyes, Li Lianhua forbears to comment on the bus, and simply says, “Or strip out the ambient noise—it’s at a pitch and consistency where I don’t think it would be that hard.”

Y: Yesterday morning, he would have.

BRANDISH

B: But he can feel her eyes boring into him, and he doesn’t stop when he gets outside, walks purposefully toward where he’d left his bike.

R: “Really,” he says.

A: A’Fei blinks a few times before he seems to squint, focusing on Fang Duobing.

N: “No, no, let me get this straight,” says Shi Shui, grinning delightedly as she waves around a chicken wing.

D: Di Feisheng flashes back to the way Li Lianhua had looked as he held himself up on the side of the pool, the strength in his arms as he’d held his head down the other night, forcing Di Feisheing to take his cock.

I: “I swear, he’s like a vampire. Always marking you up.

S: She finally confronts Shi Shui about them one evening after too many glasses of wine, sitting with her and Su Xiaoyong, He Xiaofeng, and a few of their friends at the book club Shui-meimei bullied her into hosting once a month.

H: “Hey,” he says, rising from the table and stepping into Li Lianhua’s space. “I missed you.”

These are all from either my ongoing rockstar AU (Dance the Silence Down), the escort AU, or the escort AU QWM/FDB side story.

I'm sorry Ç_Ç It took me a while to find a part in my recent docs that I wrote alone and that it's not too revealing (I'm co-writing this fic with Deputy Chief and almost everything in the last chapters are major spoilers XD) So, here, have a Weilan moment:

Quietly as he walked hand in hand with Zhao Yunlan, Shen Wei observed the two millennia of art preserved there, thoughtfully. "I used to spend long hours here when I lived in the monastery," Zhao Yunlan commented softly, even a sigh there had an echo. "It's peaceful here..." Shen Wei touched the nearest wall, the pedestal of one of the many Buddhas lining the stones. "Temples carved into rocks in the mountains are places I have visited many times over the past millennia." "When I was in sorrow, staying here was like a painful memory of a loneliness that I had never experienced in this life, but I always had a hope that only in a place like this that loneliness would end. I don't know what that really means. When I was young, at least it meant that Lin Jing would always miss me and come find me here and take me back... or bring me food and stay here with me."

This is part of later chapters of In endless mist and rain, drawing your silhouette again and again (I won't say the number here bc it's scary and we still don't have the last chapters to know how many to add on ao3).

So Liu Sang doesn't always cook - sometimes Kan Jian picks up takeout, or sometimes Liu Sang picks up takeout, or sometimes Kan Jian cooks one of his Three Known Meals and sometimes it's pancake night which doesn't really count as cooking because they make chocolate-chip smiley faces on them together - but he still cooks pretty often, and he especially cooks when Kan Jian is going to be away. (A Little Something For The Road (Beefcake 'verse))

None of this explains why he starts turning up wherever Xiao Hua is. (the untitled HeiHuaHuoChu college AU)

All the ages of the world, and there were still new and terrible experiences to be had. (Gone to Graveyards, Every One)

Kan Jian compromised by thinking of him as guy-but-in-a-gender-neutral-kind-of-way. (Angle of Elevation)

Even more than Xiaoge’s words, even more than waking up to find him gone, it was seeing Jinx lying there like a silent, patient sentinel that brought it home that Xiaoge was gone, and Wu Xie could not follow. (Faithful in the Bone)
