Still trying to prep for my upcoming game that is now about a month away.

I think I have settled on the antagonist reasons for what they're doing, and how they're using the players to achieve some of their goals. This pulls in information from two backstories, the others are little smaller and more localized but have things that come into play.

The two that had connections to different planes were easier to leverage for antagonists that were still kicking and using the events of the first arc as fodder for their machinations.

The fey are involved, specifically the new queen of the seelie court has eyes on a bigger prize than being an archfey. Not content with being near godlike, she wants to be a god and she's shared this plan with several in her coterie. So far unbeknownst to the players she's managed to get a foothold by forcing the natural cycle of the court and destroying the original Crone.

That, coupled with a powershift on the material plane she was tied to gave her enough power to overwhelm the current queen titania and force her into her next form. So she is now the rightful queen of the fey and has sent the new potential maiden off on a quest claim four sceptres from the elemental planes

These when combined on the celestial plane will set off a mass creation event to recreate/create a planet on the material plane, however if the power is syphoned correctly, one can bypass the planet and seize the power to become a god without needing a set of followers

The connecting character is the little halfling that has potential to become the new maiden and has already been a help by disturbing a wedding without causing the fey court to lose face specifically. This fetch quest also keeps her busy enough to not go searching for the crone to see what she thinks of things

The other character was kidnapped by a cult of a dragon who was trying to come through from the shadowrealm via the loose veils around Tel'Eryon but is now trapped between both planes

He is partially stuck in a host body on a planet being used as a refuge for the former inhabitants of the lost Tel'Eryon while the elven fleet figures out what happened and how to help

The dragon and his cult members are currently working through the refugees and adding members to their new religion to build strength and his hold on this planet to make it the stronger of the two connections

Then he will need someone to sever the connection on the shadowrealm side so he can push the rest of the way over by syphoning the last experiment they had before the plan fizzled two years ago

The aarakocra has some ties to both the fey court with his squire, and has some connection to an ancient red dragon that used to live in the mountains near the aarakocra home, and he is currently carrying a piece of her soul around (player really liked dragonheart who am I to say no)

I'm not sure how this will enter into the story over all, but it does give me a way of world building that dragons are somehow only partially attuned to the material plane and need mortals in some way to maintain that connection

I have an autognome that if I remember correctly, his creator found a warforged heart amongst some detritus and was able to fix it up and install it into the autognome and that is how he's currently powered. His creator was murdered and he's less than a year old so his feels a little more personal.

We do have an artificer gnome joining the group soon so it should be interesting how they play off each other, especially since the artificer is a spy so that might give some depth.

The third gnome of the group is a half gnome half tiefling, and she's had some run-ins with vampirates which I can use in some places and if I combine them with the space clowns and the plague from arc one that might give the astral sea stuff some meat

Finally, to round out the party is the Giff who was adopted by a gnome family (possibly halfling but I'm almost positive they're gnomes, because mama bignoodle is an artificer). Currently he's been kidnapped by a mindflayer wizard, that may or may not be evil.

Context wise, and i wish I could remember the tag I used and if I even wrote any of this out before. When Tel'Eryon blew up it left a power vacuum. The gods have been dying for 1200 ish years, and with the final collapse of the pantheon holding it together, the planet went kaboom. The separate elements went back to their native planes, and it requires a mortal to collect them on behalf of the deities in question to bring them back.

However, no one remembers the gods of Tel'Eryon. They don't have names, they don't have clerics or followers or believers. The people of Tel'Eryon have a vague spirituality, and spoke of gods plural but could not name a single deity. And they never transferred that belief onto other major pantheons, so there is a weird block where the belief and the power from those followers are held back somehow.

The other major pantheons are in a fit because they cannot access those sibling deities, nor their reborn counterparts (as they've not been reborn) but didn't receive any new followers either so the power is just sitting there in a dust cloud in the middle of the astral sea.

Something has tagged several contenders who have the potential to become gods. These are the current players and a balancing force of characters I have that represent other aspects of the gods. The players have figured out they have godstones embedded in them and that has given them certain abilities, but they're not sure of the next steps.

So currently, they have a mission in the form of a Gaes to find the four sceptres in the elemental planes, and they need to find their friend who was kidnapped. And they have a secondary quest to find a hag that might have information about something else. That's what I need to plan, but I need to drop clues to the other stuff happening.

I also need to set up some challenges above and beyond the current scope to test them for godhood.

I do have an idea for setting them up in a battle royale style fight in the middle of this, as a kind of challenge from the lesser gods who feel these upstarts are moving in on their territory.

REFER HERE . act 3 conclusion to his 'personal' quest. sort of. bal reclaiming the rite would involve ascending pax. thereby making PAX a vampire ascendant instead of caz or astar..ion. which, would only deepen mol..ag’s hold on him and bring his body all that closer to becoming a vessel / conduit for bal to cross over into the mortal plane with. not only is the tadcrew saving pax and all those spawn, but the world from another being bent on death and domination. before the crew sets out to deal with caz, there will be a little camp event involving pax where he’ll mention feeling strange but believes it to be the lingering necrotic energy he absorbed while in the shadowlands ( this will be important later ) compounded by being a tad overwhelmed by the hustle & bustle of the city as he has not been in one for some number of years. he can be questioned further and if a perception check is passed, the pc can notice he’s nervous about something. if persuaded, he’ll admit the events at the mausoleum are weighing on his mind. yet, he’ll seem hopeful it is not possible outside of the shadowlands despite the absorption of necrotic energy. if asked if he’s still fit to fight, he’ll assure them he is and it’s really nothing to concern themselves over. if, however, the pc tells him to sit this one out and rest, he’ll agree and say it might be for the best.

if he is brought along, after defeating caz, pax will cry out and fall to the ground as he holds his head. mo..lag wields a form of mind magic: he intrudes upon the minds of mortals as a form of torture. it is an invasive, agonizing experience. by forcing his way into a mortal's mind, he can show them horrific visions. he does this in an attempt to make pax more susceptible to possession; break his will. this together with using his influence over necrotic energies, bal is able to take over the knight's body. if going with the left at camp choice, pax will show up right after defeating caz but not before the crew can pull him out of his coffin. the dawning realization something is wrong with him; his eyes. the light in them is void. there will be little time to react before pax starts attacking the party. a voice not quite his own begins thanking them for returning his rite to him. they will remember it as mol..ag’s when he possessed pax at the thorm mausoleum. the tadcrew can either try to kill pax, knock him out or try to survive 9 turns against him like with hal..sin’s portal.

note: he has the standard vampire powers of being rather resistant to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage and is unaffected or barely harmed by necrotic magics, resistant to cold and lightning, and completely unaffected by psionics and paralysis. in addition to this, they'd have to overcome his regeneration by using holy water, any spells that produce sunlight or deals radiant damage. creating water and having it act as running water would deal acid damage and debuff him slightly. though, he is more resistant to sunlight than standard vampires. he'd be able to manipulate / pull the blood out of an opponent from a distance sparingly, try to dominate them with his gaze, slam, punch, rend, bite, teleport in mist or as a swarm of bats, turn invisible, thrall person or use his skills as an eldritch knight [ gestures vaguely]. action surge, eldritch strike, weapon bond, war magic, shatter, scorching ray, shocking grasp, thunder wave, magic missile, misty step, shield, booming blade ( need to look into him game wise ).

during the entire fight, pax will be trying to resist mol..ag and regain control of his body. he'll occasionally receive a dazed condition and won't attack or will miss them. apologies can be heard as he strains to speak to the party; apologizing for attacking them. he does not wish to hurt them, he's trying to fight. resist. mol..ag will retort by calling him weak or a worm. as pax is addressing his friends, he'll also invoke a divine each round starting with sten..darr preserve me. if the party is able to survive the 9 rounds, it ends with pax invoking akat..osh and then addressing them all by going divines ! purge this foul darkness ! but not before asking his friends for forgiveness ( or directly going forgive me, cor meum. my heart, forgive me. if romanced ). his body is lifted into the air and erupts in a blinding, all consuming light. as quickly as it came, the light will recede and he’ll drop to the floor while smoke wafts from skin. charred and burned , but otherwise seems to be whole. an outcome he did not expect. he believed he would perish when he invoked the divine spirits. leave naught but ash , purging all of mol..ag corrupting presence.

when approaching his body , they can attempt to shake him awake. it will not garner a response. the pc can then decide to do nothing or cut their palm to allow a few drops of blood to fall into his mouth. doing so stirs him to a semiconscious state and heals a few wounds present on his body. propping him up and offering him a wrist to bite will be met with meek reluctance. if they insist, he’ll bite only briefly and abstains further as he does not trust himself not to take too much in his current state. he’ll use what strength it game him to assist them. otherwise, the party has to deal with caz in his coffin by themselves. during the fight with pax, caz was able to recover some of his health but will be much easier to defeat. IF they wake pax up via blood, despite his still injured state and experience with mol..ag, he'll use his vampire lord form to help end caza..dor one final time. collapsing from exhaustion not long after the battle ends and will not wake again until a day has passed. the tadcrew will have to carry his body out of the palace either way. when he wakes, pax thanks them for helping him and laments on his inability to resist. if questioned on the possibility of mol..ag returning, pax will admit he will but not for a long while. for once, he feels....unburdened. that not all is entirely lost, perhaps. maybe there is some hope for him? at least it was a small consolation his gods answered his pleas. while they could not remove the taint entirely, they were able to temporarily banish bal when his power waned from the strain controlling pax placed on his reach & influence in fae..run. if asked about mol..ag reclaiming the rite, an answer will not be given. he is uncertain. regardless, he'll be notably....happier, but attention quickly turns to defeating the elder brain.

ANOTHER THING TO NOTE: if they manage to kill pax, that’s that. he’s permanently removed as a party member. his body turns to ash. mol..ag will not appear in camp to offer pax’s resurrection for a price. withers will be unable to resurrect him. if they defeat ( KO ) but don’t kill, mol..ag will be unable to maintain his possession of pax. he will be too weak to extend his reach pass the watch of the faerunian gods. the prince will slink back to his domain.

So, I’m still yelling about Sonic Prime season 2. It’s. So fucking good?

And not just because someone on the writing team 100% ships Sonadow because, holy crap, so much of that episode feels shippy.

So, full disclosure. Shadow is my favorite Sonic character. Ever since I saw him in Heroes I loved him. As a kid I didn’t notice the real “constantly shifting character” thing. Now, having played almost every major 3d Sonic game (I didn’t play Forces and refused to play Boom), having watched shows like Sonic X and Sonic Prime (again, I stayed away from Boom but I’ve heard it’s amazing), I think it’s obvious that he gets wildly mischaracterized.

He’s angsty, yes. I mean, he watched his child best friend/sister get shot to death in front of him when he was… five (Look, he’s simultaneously Sonic’s age, over 50, and like five- his age is an enigma), that would make anyone angsty. But he’s also genuinely caring, even if he rarely shows it.

Look no further than 06 when he accidentally releases Mephelis because he picks up Rogue to move her away, or when he intercepts Silver so Sonic can go save Elise. He’s actively saved the world three times- SA2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and 06, with him sacrificing his life in his first appearance. And let’s not forget how he genuinely seemed upset in 06 when Sonic died.

Actually, 06 is the best characterization of Shadow since his introduction. And it can basically all be summed up in his own words. “If the whole world chooses to turn against me, then I’ll fight like I always have.”

He’s brooding. He’s harsh. He’s proud and independent. But by god will he fight to the death for what is right. He cares about people, but he uses actions not words.

Now, what does this have to do with Sonic Prime? Well, this is probably the best characterization of Shadow they’ve ever done. He’s still broody and much more reserved, but everything he’s doing is selfless. He’s not beating up Sonic just because.

He’s beating up Sonic because he, rightfully in my mind, sees Sonic as a threat to his world. He isn’t trying to prevent Sonic from saving the world, he’s basically trying to put him in time out for ruining the world.

This is more than proven when he not only realizes that he can’t do something, but he also realizes that the only way to fix everything is to work together. And he actively admit that. Reluctantly, yes, but he says they need to work together.

He’s still angry and is currently furious at Sonic, but… he kind of has the right to be. Interestingly, he actually spoke to Sonic before fighting him (which, side note, was animated amazingly).

And let’s not forget his cockiness. It’s done perfectly. He’s not taking it too far like Sonic tends to do, but him being a smug little shit is great. And I think it really helps to show the dynamic he and Sonic have because he’s just. Not like that around other characters.

Without using words, they managed to show that, despite the fighting that’s happening, there’s a bond between Sonic and Shadow. One that can only be forged by fighting to save the world side by side.

I think it’s also important to mention that Shadow clearly was enjoying his fight with Sonic. Probably because it’s the most normal thing he’s experienced in forever. His friends are gone. Green Hill is gone. The chaos emerald is gone (though I have a suspicion that it’s going to come back at some point. It fell into the void for a reason and that void was shown for a reason. My bet is that they’re going to need to enter the void at some point). He’s trapped in limbo.

Fighting Sonic is a constant. One he desperately needs.

I know I’ve been rambling but for the first time in over a decade, they’ve gotten Shadow’s personality perfectly. Makes me wonder if the writers, or at least some of them, played SA2 growing up. After all… it’s been long enough since he was introduced that the target audience for SA2 when it was released would be old enough to work for the SEGA team.

It also makes me crazy excited for the third Sonic movie. I know they’re different writers, but they have hit the nail on the head with each character, and if a different show can characterize Shadow that well… maybe Sega is relaxing their iron grip on him and allowing him to actively shine.

Also that scene with Shadow falling to the void and Sonic sounding genuinely panicked was amazing. You can tell he was getting SA2 flashbacks. Someone likened the scene to Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man watching MJ fall in No Way Home and catching her when he couldn’t catch Gwen, and yeah. The emotional impact seems to be the same.

Sonic couldn’t save Shadow then, but he can save him now.

Just… go watch Prime if you haven’t. Sonic fans have been treated well these past few years and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Entering in via portal. "Oi, Meph!!! You online?" Hopefully not. While Belial can certainly be trusted to be given the note...this is something better shown sooner over later. He's taking the note Mitch found earlier out of his pocket and holding it up for the taking. "There was, like, a bit of a sitch, mate."

It's almost automatic, the way he moves to retrieve the note from his sudden visitor. The writing is short and concise, no surprise there.

"I take it there's been no sign of Father Fujimoto since. I think now is a good time to stay on your guard and stick alongside the others. They will need you if things go awry."

Do you know how Raphael discovered his love of theater and singing and art and all that? Cania doesn’t seem like the most hospitable place for it, and I don’t see Mephistopheles being thrilled about a theater kid cambion son.

Why does Raphael love art and music and theater so much? Has Meph ever caused any problems for him because of it?

Cania is definitely not the place for it, but Mephistophele's is a pretty melodramatic guy, for all that he doesn't like to seem to be, he has a few pretty different natures, and he's got a huge flare for drama himself.

As for Raphael, he just had no real interest in pursuing magic or science in the same way his father did. He has skills in both, and his interest in the arts is a nice front for that.

I actually think he developed an interest in the arts inadvertently while employing them for black market endeavours. For example, human trafficking is often tied up in the arts, as is money laundering, moving black market items (i.e. trading with paintings and diamonds), to say nothing of the fact that a lot of desperate souls both end up in the arts and drawn to the arts. Just like Astarion knows if you hang around outside a bar you'll find an easy meal, Raphael feels the same way about a theatre and a brothel, and in Faerun, both of those things are frequently combined.

I have an idea that he was basically sent out to procure funds and make himself useful, and figure out how to harvest souls for himself, and learned the actually debauchery, fine meals, fine wines, live entertainment, music, poetry and more were all very diverting and made more of his life at a time when most of his brothers got slaughtered, and he had only distant ambitions.

We know he loves writing, too, and journalling. If he has inherited any of his father's strong emotions (which he has), getting them out onto a page is probably good for him.

As for Mephistopheles, I honestly think for the most part he doesn't think about it and he actually forgets he even has sons most of the time. He notoriously bounces from project to project leaving most of them unfinished, and hyperfixates on different things at any time. He's left behind some of the most world-changing magics and cities among Cania and just never given them another thought. So while it amuses him to torment Raphael about it, I actually don't think it's something that truly upsets him whenever Raphael's not in sight, lol.

Like, I imagine Mephistopheles is so 'nothingy' about Raphael that it's like, 'oh the most interesting thing about you is the money you've given me I guess and the noises you make sometimes' - but otherwise it's not even apathy, because you can't be apathetic about something you don't even notice is there. And Raphael prefers it that way.

(A problem honestly is when Mephistopheles does notice what his son is up to, and at some point he realised Raphael had amassed actually a rather significant amount of power and sent Harleep to keep an eye on him (this is canon) and distract him with like... sexual diversion. Raphael's preference is that his father forgets he exists and frankly once the Crown of Karsus was destroyed, all he remembers now is that Raphael had a goal to steal it, and Mephistopheles had a goal to steal it from him, so now that's ruined and he's mad about it sometimes).

Mephistopheles got a command code for the Valentine’s event in JP and I’m so excited because this means that he’s in the event.  And I’ve been reading it as it comes out, and there’s been a lot of allusion to Mephistopheles in it, and he relates super heavily to what the core themes are and I cannot stop thinking about this event and theorizing about how it’s gonna turn out. 

It’s all very weird, and almost there, and dream-like just wading at the edge of reading as the proper reality. Johanna is absolutely a person that Mephistopheles would sympathize with, and want to help in some way because she’s an entirely fictional person. And Mephistopheles cares about creations. He loves narrative servants and those created to fill a specific role. He’s friends with Nursery Rhyme and Moriarty. He helped Enkidu find their identity in their interlude. He killed Frankenstein in London and left Fran alive so she could go have an adventure with the Master. I’m sure he’d care for Johanna too. 

I think the event is a dream that Mephistopheles has made for Johanna because she wants to be a real girl, a real person, and she made a deal with the devil to grant this wish. It’s about what it means to be human, and what things are core to being real as a person, which absolutely parallels with Meph who is a homunculus who was made too human. He would know what it means to be human and want to be a real human being, since he’s an artificial being who was denied by his own creator. Not to mention that Mephistopheles controls dreams, has made micro-singularities in the past (which this event is) for other servant’s interludes, and is someone who challenges characters’ core values and morals. And everything feels just kind of off in the event, alluding to it not being how it seems. Johanna is just established to be there - no fan-fare, nothing, like it’s perfectly normal and reasonable that she’s in Chaldea providing Valentine’s blessings, even though that goes against her role in Traum. Goredolf is fully confident, he doesn’t seem to care about any holiday shenanigans, and everyone is really easily and casually ushered into what everyone thinks is going to be a very simple chill micro-singularity. 

Mash is in the event, but Mash isn’t really...getting as much of the spotlight as she usually gets. She’s only on screen for two or three dialogue boxes at most, she’s almost exclusively nudging you onto the path of the story, and she’s not getting her usual long Mash getting to say her opinion on things. Which, is how Mash acted in Mephistopheles’ interlude, where Mephistopheles made a fake Mash to keep the Master on track in his dream, and the Master didn’t notice. Which is something that is REALLY HARD to do and Mephistopheles has shown he CAN do, in the past.

Another thing - Nursery Rhyme is there! Only four servants were compatible to Rayshift: Rama, Jalter Santa Lily, Nursery Rhyme, and Johanna. Nursery Rhyme has been unphased by every weird thing to far. She’s just rolled with it a little too well, which would make sense, because Mephistopheles would need a storybook to help him write a story for Johanna.

And, there’s been a lot of Alice in Wonderland comparisons and references. And music specifically from Jeanne’s Casino in Las Vegas Summer, a place that Mephistopheles helped run, Nursery Rhyme took part in plays, and it was a casino run by a Saint who was having her time as a real girl.

The whole event is also in the perspective of a narrative, like a book, being recounted to you by Johanna with little narrative cut-ins from her at key intervals of her experiences. While there are dialogue options to choose, nothing is from their perspective. Any time we get narration, it’s from Johanna’s point of view.

Johanna also acts strangely. She knows things without evidence, and immediately pegs the grail in the basement of the Singularity’s church as evil, stops a mysterious sorcerer from wishing on it, and has her own wish prioritized over the initial wish that was going to be bad for the Human Order. A wish that Johanna claims she doesn’t even have, because she’s a Ruler and a Saint.

Then that wish caused a giant statue of her to be erected in the middle of the tiny peaceful town and now she’s beloved as Love Love Johanna-Sama!

Everyone has a little fun laugh as Johanna is in agony and embarrassment over this idea of being beloved and worshipped in such a loud and larger than life way, but I think she’s actually kind of flattered by it. She’s just grappling with this idea of only wanting what a Saint would, rather then what she actually wants. Because I think that Johanna wished to be a real girl, and to be a real girl she has to be known, and she has to be loved, and she has to accept that love. 

Love is what defines the weight of her life, and she has to accept and carry that love with her (in a little bag of luggage she’s given) in order to actually be real.  Which is what Mephistopheles is giving her, I think. He’s giving Johanna her wish of being a real girl for Valentine’s day.  TLDR: I’m pretty sure Mephistopheles has crafted an elaborate dream to grant Johanna’s wish to be a real person. Which means she has to learn what it means to be human. Love defines if you matter and are real, not the classification of reality of fiction.

I helped my friend with Raphael last night and i had to spend like 45 mins doing inventory management so we could get everyone set up properly. and like when i finished up i realized a few things were off

Lathander is gonna SHIT himself over astarion having ascended AND he's running around beating the fuck out of all the undead he sees. in lathander's name. but also WHY WAS IT IN HIS PACK we thought it was lost until i found it

ALSO just,,,,,,astarion personally went to hell to kick raphael's ass and clean up shop at house of hope as like a little thank you to Meph. his personal thank you. he left a perfumed note and a labeled return letter + courier pigeon otw out. hopefully Meph will write him

ooh okay. * cracks knuckles * it definitely made me think of that painting and of cronus. i want to add that the reason he devoured his child was out of fear that one day he will be overthrown by them. and it sounds familiar? you have a rather ambitious son who is planning to take over everything and do what mephisto tried to do but couldn't. there is a reason mephisto hasn't used the crown. and there is a reason why he devoured his son. out of jealousy? out of fear? i've noticed with raphael (and i have yet to write about it) that he has prophetic dreams. and i sometimes feel like his father does as well. mephisto must have seen an outcome where raphael loses. he doesn't kill him while his on his mission but only after he fails. probably because he wanted raphael to experience such a loss and blow to his ego before he devours him. raphael not getting the crown is actually a death sentence. he needs it not only for power but for a shield against his own father. it amazes me that when he gets the crown, mephisto is there to offer praise. (which i feel like its fake af. ) lmao. raphael is blinded by a lot of things in the moment leading to his death. his blinded by ambition, pride, hubris. he does not believe he will lose, or that he will end up 'bloody and bruised'. and i think this is his greatest weakness. because if he heeded the warning, he might have avoided it. how does raphi feel about dear old dad?? i don't think there is anyone he hates more than him. it's ironic because the things he criticises and hates about meph , are things that raphael has taken from him. but is there something in raphael that demands acceptance and respect from his father?? i think so. in the end (post credit scene) he looked a little too happy with himself when mephisto extended his support. he hates his dad but also wants to be seen as his equal, and that could just very well be because he is a half-fiend and has a need to prove himself.

also in regards to mephisto devouring raphael. i noticed the foreshadowed lines from raphael talking about 'dining' on people, and little cannibalistic comments. like 'your wine, my supper' etc. and i wonder if that was done on purpose.

I headcanon Mephisto as disabled as a disabled person. So I made this series to write about that under a specific storyline. I recommend to read those first for more context.

He knew exactly how horrible this day would be from the second he opened his eyes that day.

See, when you've lived with a disability for long enough, you know how to predict it and know all of the signs.

He knew since the moment he woke up that he was experiencing a flare-up. His legs hurt unnecessarily bad. And his nerves shot waves of pain through his body.

Being disabled sucked ass. First of all, it's embarrassing. Being different and being unable to do certain things sucks a ton. Plus, before he used a cane his disability was invisible. Meaning that he seemed perfectly able to do things until he couldn't, which made people tease him because they didn't understand that he was disabled or just thought he was just joking about being unable.

And second, sometimes things like flare-ups happen. He'll wake up expecting a normal day only to be greeted by an unimaginable amount of pain that leaves him lying on the floor, screaming in agony as if he'd been shot and was now bleeding out.

It's sucked, it really did. He was practically always in pain, at least to some level. Yet, he just had to suck it up and deal with it. There is nothing anybody can do, he just has to live with it. Sure, he's been recommended things to ease the pain, but that's just easing it. He is still in pain, he is still disabled, he still isn't as normal as everyone else and he hates it.

Now he was dealing with another thing he couldn't do anything about.

But, perfect for him, he had plans today. He and Mammon were supposed to be going out later, but no. Mephisto was laying in his bed, probably slowly dying of pain. Okay, maybe that was an over exaggeration. But, it felt true.

Mephistopheles sighed, trying to suck up the pain like he was always told to do. He sat up, squeezing his eyes shut as pain overtook him, black spots dancing in his vision.

He sucked air through his teeth then took a deep breath. He used his hands to push him up until he was standing.

Before he could even think of celebrating this small victory, he went plummeting to the floor as his legs gave out. He yelped loudly in pain, tears stinging in his eyes.

Distantly he heard the noise of feet hitting the floor quickly. Running.

"Brother!" Azazel yelled as he opened the door, running into the elder's room.

"Um, your brother is in a bit of a bind here," He replied, awkwardly laughing from his spot on the floor.

"How can I help?" Azazel was still young, but he was always so kind and helpful. Maybe Mephisto raised him well after they left their parents after all.

Mephisto made no move to get up off the floor, he just scanned the surroundings. "Can you grab my phone from my side table? I'll call Mammon to help, then you can go back to playing Fortnite, or whatever it is that you do."

"Actually, it's Roblox, but okay!" Azazel grabbed the phone, handing it to his older brother before plopping down criss-cross apple sauce right in front of him.

Mephisto opened his phone, pulling up Mammon's contact. His finger hovered above the call a second before he hit it.

"This is Asmo speaking, your boy toy is busy getting dressed, I am observing. Do you need something, hon? Maybe a hotter, at least slightly intelligent, man?" Asmo joked. They both knew he didn't really wanna steal Mephisto from Mammon. Meph wasn't Asmo's type anyway. Asmo wasn't his either, they both agreed. Mephisto was more moronsexual, as embarrassing as that was.

"Can you put him on?" Mephisto asked.

"Sure," Asmo said. Noise over the phone clearly showed that he was moving and then gave it to Mammon.

"Hey darlin'," Mammon greeted. "Is everythin' alright?"

"Not really. I am having a flare-up so I don't really know if I'm going to be able to go out....." He felt bad, he really did. Mammon seemed very excited about this date.

"I'm comin' over right away. Do not move an inch. You're amazing, super talented, incredible boyfriend is on the way to look after you!" Mammon then instantly hung up before Mephisto could even say anything.

Mephisto sighed, looking up at Azazel who had been watching him the entire call.

Azazel looked close to giggling. Mephisto smiled, "Never date kid." Azazel laughed at that, Meph did too. Of course, he was only kidding. He loves Mammon. Plus, he's pretty sure Azazel has a crush on some girl he goes to school with. Abyzou or something like that. Mephisto is not someone to reject young love, especially if said love would make his brother happy.

Azazel did leave to play Angry Birds or whatever game eventually. And shortly after that, Mammon burst inside Mephisto's room.

"Yer lovely boyfriend is here!" Mammon announced.

Mephisto laughed, "Help me up off the floor, will you?"

It took a lot of effort and pain, but they did manage to get him back on his bed.

Mammon fed him a mediocre meal, got him water, and gave him pain meds.

And when all that work was done, it was time for relaxation.

The two worked together to help Mephisto stretch his legs some so that the pain would ease and so that his legs didn't die permanently, putting him in a wheelchair. That combined with the pain meds really helped him feel better.

However, nothing was better than laying in his loving boyfriends arms.

The two cuddled closely as Mammon whispered soft words, telling him how gorgeous he was.

Mephisto felt somewhat better, even if he hated being disabled. At least he had Mammon.

"I love you," Mephisto whispered his first word in awhile.

"I love ya ten times more," Mammon competed, "Hah, beat that. I win."

Mephisto laughed, "Sure, okay, if you want."

"Oh my Diavolo ya-"

"Hey," Mephisto interrupted. "Do not use Lord Diavolo's name in vain!"

They both stayed silent for a second before breaking out into laughter.

"That was a good one!" Mammon started. "I believed ya fer a sec! Oh my gosh, that's like a human thing about my Father!"

"Saying 'gosh' is just better. Lord Diavolo does not need to be disrespected," Mephisto joked again, causing Mammon to laugh another time.

"Stop!" Mammon cackled really ugly. "I can't take it anymore!"

"Take what?" Mephisto kept a straight face to the best of his abilities. "I am only teaching you proper edikit."

That day consisted a lot more of junk like that. They joked and laughed and kissed. Overall, they just enjoyed each other's company.

And in the end, Mephisto forgot all about the agony he was in when the day started.

Hopefully this isn't too vague although it's random. Mind absolutely infodumping about Abduxuel? From his pastimes to the reason why he enjoys them, what the personality inspiration is for him, why he enjoys parties and what about them, etc.

Ngl when I first made Abdi he was a one off character meant to die bc I wanted to stick to the general aoex plot without making it supremely au by making another king dead.

But, as I was writing BRS, I had to flesh him out bc his story was meant to parallel Mephisto's and show the bad ending scenario basically. So as the BRS plotline developed and got more complicated, so did he.

Though I've been adding bits and pieces of info about him every time someone asks me a question bc I have to consider how he would react to different things that I never really would have thought about otherwise XD

For instance, this ask had me like hmm more info about my boy and realized I hadn't done the basics aka his "anniversary" day, mbti and zodiac sign.

So!

Mbti: Esfp. This one I've had for awhile, though I actually based his core personality off my cousin (I tend to relate characters to ppl I know irl to keep them consistent and realistic to how someone might actually act in situations and not a fantasy version of a person). He's flighty and gregarious and a physical kinda demon. He's great at little details but the big picture is right out with him, which is why he typically lets Mephisto come up with the far reaching plans and he's just along for the ride.

Astrology sign: Gemini. The twin thing was a big reason for this and also the personality lines up too so it's a bonus lmao I almost chose Scorpio but he's not that intense, way too flighty.

And Zodiac: This one is tough bc it's based on year born and technically he and Mephisto weren't born and when they gained egos it was almost simultaneously. So I had to find one that fit them both, but they had different elemental attributes. Water dragon fit Abdi best and Earth dragon seems to fit Meph best.

I could go on about how the traits align with him but I've pretty much always thought of him like Mephisto but without any real goals or ambitions besides entertainment, which is a terrifying concept when you think about it XD

2. Talk about a favorite comment you received.

One man, it's hard to pick just one. I've gotten some really funny ones, some really nice ones where people said very kind things about my writing and some that are slightly uhhinged.

I do remember your comment in the middle of the potential Eric spy arc where you just keysmashed and yelled.

3. Have you received any bookmark notes? Which is your favorite and why?

Yes! I really like one on our joint Meph and Eclipse fic that was something along the lines of came for Eclipse, stayed for the great writing and god lore. And Eclipse.

7. What do you love most about being a fic writer for your fandom?

I love that I've gotten so many people interested in Eclipse. He's such a great character and now more people are writing about him, it's great!

All righty, so, I’ve thrown up a new theme. There’s a few reasons for that.

On a side note real quick: I am aware that certain reblogged posts don’t show up correctly on the theme. It’s something to do with the old legacy editor posts and the new ones and the majority of my threads are on that old format. I’ll look into poking the theme author and seeing if there’s a way of fixing that but most modern themes are this way so I can’t be assed anymore to deal with it. Plus, the tumblr.com/(blogurl)/(tag) works for the most part. Anyway –

I don’t want this to be a giant surprise so I’m throwing it out there now that I plan on making some changes to the blog and how things are handled. If we’ve already interacted and been established and stuff, absolutely nothing will change. If we are not established in-character, things might be a bit different but I wouldn’t worry about it being too crazy if you’re already following and paying attention to this blog.

What will be changing for everyone is the way I progress things here. Except in the very beginning when I was still conceptualizing this guy, I’ve always been moving a story along. It’s a very big story that has had some progression over this last decade, but in the past, idk, five years or so I’ve gotten just about nothing done with it. Part of that is the franchise’s own lack of doing anything, part of it’s my own ass just having been sat here, part of it’s the shift in the RPC from way back when, part of it’s how I’ve been working on an unrelated fic and that’s a big part, I think. Well, and some other things.

But ultimately what’s going to happen is that, as the new side bar says, big main story events are going to generally be happening in the form of blog updates. I already do some of those under the soloupdates tag, so it’ll be more of that. But that ‘big part’ thing – I’ve been writing a fic for a few years now. It’s a neat little fall-from-grace story that’s moving slowly due to reasons, but without going into detail about it, working on that story and working on my mental health, I’ve become more of a writer than RPer. There’s a lot of reasoning for that, but ultimately it’s something I’ve been enjoying just… writing something. That’s something I really enjoy and RP just doesn’t quite scratch the itch anymore. I could wager a number of guesses as to why but that’s unimportant. What is is that I’ve enjoyed it and it’s a fantastic way of progressing the story I have and that’s the big thing – I really want to work on this story. Not doing anything with it has hurt more than I recognised and I am really wanting to get invested in this and the world I’ll be building around it. That’s the long and short of it ‘cause I don’t wanna be spoiling too much.

But while writing this it also occurs to me that if I’m posting stuff on AO3, there’s not much point in not linking my profile over there in case you wanna check out what’s there as is.

I don’t plan on moving things along super fast. I want things to breathe, I want to write on my own pace as I do, and I still plan on prioritizing the other story. This means there will absolutely be an ebb and flow of story and plot here but it shouldn’t be disruptive. I also still plan on including others in plot points where applicable and allowing stories in RPs to happen naturally as they do because that’s how I roll.

I do also still need to set up some new page(s) and alter existing ones to better fit this. I’ve also just been wanting to redo Meph and Iblis’ information pages just because, get a new page or few up that help support this new format, that stuff. Idk I might just redo all pages from scratch.

This is also my last weekend before moving, so I’m packing stuff to ship off and then getting on a flight and all that good stuff. It’s not a small move. It’s not a small change. It won’t really affect anything much here but it is just a heads up for those who don’t follow either of my other two blogs or in case you expected me to immediately get to work on stuff here. Nah. I’m just noticing that I didn’t feel like waiting until New Years to change the theme and start making adjustments, haha.

I’ve been doing something dangerous and been going through ye ol’ old content.

It’s actually been pretty fun. I forgot about one thing that happened that I’ve been looking through and IIRC, I’ve never stated this outright, maybe way back in the beginning, but part of Meph’s original characterisation was very specific in making him an alternate who was old enough to be able to, for example, yeet around the multiverse and not be a huge threat in regards to being consumed by an old rage, but still young enough that he wasn’t a threat in other ways. Even over ten years ago, I was very specific about finding that balance.

I say ‘balance’ but in actuality, the way he was, Meph was pretty damned weak. He could be a threat, but not to most characters, not the way he is now, especially not with him and Iblis being a tag-team now.

Something funny that I did notice happening to happen, Meph was, IIRC, maybe 250 or so way back in the day? It was an age that felt like it struck that balance for me. After the soft reboot, I up’d that to 2500, a new number that felt like it was befitting of his new status as something… more?

I sort of fell off the bandwagon and now I’m back in once more. I know I want to move that number forward again, I haven’t decided on where, but this also ties back in still to what sort of character he is. The number of potential characters who are on active blogs who could stand up to him is incredibly few; balancing this now comes from the way I write him. He’s far more interested in his own plans and actions than others’.

And this sort of ties in as well into how I’m running the blog now. Far, far more frequently will there be those little soloupdate writings to move his story along. As much as I’d like to lean on other people and interactions to drive that, that’s just not something that’s happening in the current culture. Which is also fine. I find that I am quite happy with this, preferring it even. Certain events can be shared if I really want to, and I certainly will poke around to try to make those opportunities happen.

It is very interesting to be sat here and consider how much my own way of writing has shifted in recent years. Used to be that I couldn’t write without having some sort of feedback, hence why I ended up leaning so much towards RP. There was always some sort of feedback. My solo project is doing very well in its little corner, but there’s not much feedback, but I also don’t need it. I appreciate the fuck out of my #1 fan, but I started that and have continued it for my own pleasure. This? The same story, it was just a very slow shift.

I’m actually quite pleased with this little story I’ve started to construct in earnest. I’ve had ideas for years, a decade, but now I’m putting that solo-project-practice into use over here as well and it’s really shaping up.

It’s funny – I considered swapping Meph to a pure solo-writing project as well, but certain details, hard details that I cannot in good conscious significantly change, are so interwoven into the Tumblr RP culture that I couldn’t do the story justice otherwise. Interactions, of some sort, are a key point in his story, and I refuse to change that.

I dunno. I’ve been thinking about a lot of stuff a whole lot lately, like the last few weeks, and this was just something particularly loud in my head today. I’ve also gotten used to talking to myself, ha. And besides, I know that if I lurk some people’s stuff, I’m sure there’s someone or some few who lurk mine, so why not share? Besides, it’s neat to come back to certain things years later and see where I was.
