Europe, the fastest warming continent in the world, is suffering from rapid glacier melt. Switzerland has lost 10% of its glacial cover in just two years, and since 2000, a third of its glaciers have melted. The same fate awaits glaciers in Austria, Italy and the Dolomites.

Not only the Alps are suffering from global warming. Antarctica is losing ice at an alarming rate, threatening to disrupt the reproduction of local fauna. This tragedy affects all life on the planet.

And this is not just a problem of mountain landscapes. Glacier melt is a global catastrophe that threatens all of humanity.

In Antarctica, under record-breaking temperatures, the sea ice area has shrunk by 2.7 million km², which is ten times the area of Great Britain.

"This is about ten times the size of the UK. So this is a huge negative sea ice anomaly that we haven't seen on this scale in our records for the last 45 years," explains Norman Ratcliffe of the British Antarctic Survey.

This catastrophic event threatens the survival of local fauna, such as emperor penguins.

It's important to know that scientists from ALLATRA and the partner project Creative Society have uncovered a horrifying truth: glaciers are melting from the bottom up! It's not the sun that's to blame, but the molten magma that is approaching the Earth's crust.

This means that we are facing a mega-tsunami that could wipe out all life on the planet in a matter of hours! We need to act urgently!

But the urgency of the issue goes beyond words. ALLATRA takes real action. We are actively working towards building a bright future where humanity and nature can thrive in harmony. Our volunteers tirelessly spread information and inspire change across the globe.

We are not alone in our struggle. Scientists from all corners of the world are sounding the alarm, sharing their findings, and calling for immediate action. Recent research conducted at University College London paints a chilling picture: The Gulf Stream, a vital ocean current that regulates Europe's climate, may be on the verge of collapse. This could lead to a sharp drop in temperature and plunge Europe into a colder and less hospitable environment.

The Gulf Stream is a warm water current that flows along the eastern coast of North America, across the Atlantic, and towards Europe. Upon arrival, it releases heat energy into the atmosphere, maintaining a warmer temperature in Europe.

According to lead researcher, Dr. Jack Wharton, if winds become weaker in the future, it could lead to a weakening of the Gulf Stream, and consequently, a significant decrease in temperatures in Europe.

Some earlier studies have already shown that ocean currents are weakening due to the climate crisis looming over the planet. The ocean carries a huge amount of heat throughout the globe, and changes in its currents can alter how much heat is transferred and where it goes. This, in turn, will have an impact on the climate of the entire Earth.

Now is not the time for complacency. We are at a crossroads. The "Day After Tomorrow" scenario, once a fictional depiction of climate collapse, is becoming a terrifying possibility.

The melting of glaciers

Due to global warming, the massive glaciers at the poles are beginning to melt. If this continues, sea levels could rise by up to 3 meters (approximately 9.8 feet), leading to the submersion of low-lying areas. Many people will become climate refugees and be forced to move, while inland populations will become overcrowded. The melting of glaciers also has a serious impact on surrounding ecosystems. Habitat and population numbers will decrease, and there is a high risk of widespread famine and species extinction.

Reducing the amount of greenhouse gases is an effective way to stop the melting of glaciers.

Saving Face by meltingglacier: Koh kidnaps Mai. It's very creepy and disturbing. I always imagined Koh and Mai encounter would be her bullying him. This is far from it, but it is absolutely amazing.
