And if you're treating a yeast infection, but need a little cooling in the meantime, get some pure witch hazel (make sure it doesn't contain alcohol or other ingredients) and either use it as a spray (externally) or pour some on a maxi pad and put it in the fridge for a bit to wear for nighttime soothing. (This is how you pamper those stretched out tissues after shoving a baby out too)
Oh, and if you do like to play around with temperature during sexy times, you might try this: pour melted coconut oil into ice cube trays or silicone candy molds, put in the fridge for a bit, then use it as you like.
Coconut oil solidifies at a much higher temp than water so it's safer than an ice cube, and it melts at body temperature. It's a wonderful massage oil, moisturizing for your skin and non-irritating. Be sure to protect your sheets though, oil stains are annoying to try to wash out (hint, dish soap is your best bet).
(TW: sex mention, genitalia mention - educational context)
My dear lgbt+ kids,
The weather gets warmer and some people get funny ideas, so:
Please do not put ice cream or ice cubes in your vagina.
Some people do this for sexy reasons, some do it because they heard it's a home remedy for vaginal infections or a healthy way to clean your vagina - but it's not a good idea. (It's generally not a good idea to put random stuff in your vagina that wasn't explicitly designed with that purpose in mind but we will focus on the icy stuff here.)
Ice cream is meant to be eaten. So, the ingredients are safe to eat - but they are not approved for vaginal use. For example, it contains sugar which can cause yeast infections rather than heal them.
Ice cubes may seem harmless because it's "just water". But you are not actually supposed to put water in your vagina. Not even to clean it - you don't need to clean inside yourself at all! You don't need to put ice cubes in it and you don't need to "flush out" your vagina with warm or cold water, either. It's unnecessary and it throws off the ph levels. This, too, can lead to infections. (To avoid misunderstandings: Gently cleaning the outside part (the vulva) with warm water is okay! Just not inside.)
There is another risk that comes with ice cubes: ice burn. Did you ever hear about someone licking an icy flag pole and their tongue getting stuck to it? That's a real thing that can happen. When skin comes into direct contact with ice, the water in the cells can freeze. This is very painful (and attempts to remove the ice cube can result in further injury to the skin).
If you have symptoms of an infection, put those ice cubes away and talk to a doctor or pharmacist instead. If you want to feel clean, put those ice cubes away and take a warm shower instead.
But what about using ice for sexy reasons? Well, those risks still apply, regardless of intention. But not to be a total killjoy: Feeding each other ice cream can be intimate and sexy, too! If you want to include food in your sex life, you can do that - but it's always best to keep it away from genitalia. You don't need to use it "down there" to have fun with it.
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad

inspired by this post by @elliestormfound
It’s Lambert’s turn to cook dinner tonight for the witchers wintering in the keep and he’s feeling rather inspired, after Geralt and Eskel went ice fishing and came back with four lovely large trout. Going down to the root cellar while the other two witchers were taking care of the gutting and cleaning and de-scaling of the fish out in the yard, Lambert picked out some onions and some potatoes and some garlic. He also took a container of the goat milk butter they’d started making after Eskel had insisted on getting the keep its own mini goat herd. The animals themselves were stinky, ungrateful bastards, but even Lambert would admit having the fresh milk was nice. Once they finally figured out this goat cheese thing, it’d be even nicer.
But for now Lambert’s heading back upstairs with a basket full of potatoes and onions and garlic and is greeted by some absolutely beautiful fish fillets laid out on the kitchen counter. A lesser man- such as many high-class chefs with their fancy restaurants in the cities- might shed a tear at the sight of such divine knife work. Lambert is so glad Eskel let Geralt do the filleting this time.
He dices onions and garlic and preps the potatoes, washing them and piercing them in several places with a knife. The wood-stove is already lit, doing its best to spread fingers of warmth through Kaer Morhen’s cold stones. Opening up two of the burners, Lambert plunks down a pair of heavy iron saucepans onto the stove. He makes two batches of an onion-butter sauce, one with garlic and one without. While that’s simmering, he seasons the fish with rock salt that he’s fairly certain Vesemir collects and grinds himself, and then divides the fillets out evenly between two baking pans. Lambert pours the sauce over the fish before sliding them, along with the potatoes, into the large oven to slow cook.
With some time to kill, he washes the dishes he’s created so far and then starts poking around in the kitchen cabinets. He finds things he knew were there, like shelves filled with jars of different spices and a section dedicated to baking supplies, and things he didn’t, like glass bottles of apple cider in a bottom cupboard. Lambert uncorks one and sniffs it, and, yep, that is apple cider and it’s still fairly fresh too, probably squeezed and bottled by Vesemir this past autumn. He doesn’t think the old man will mind awfully if Lambert commandeers some of it; it’s for a good cause, and it’s not like Vesemir won’t also get a share of it.
Putting a larger pot on the stove top, Lambert mixes up a hot drink made with apple cider, a splash of squeezed fruit juice, and spices. Sticks of cinnamon and dried orange and lemon slices float in bubbling amber liquid as it simmers on the burner. Dinner will be done before the wassail is, but that’s alright; they can have it as a nice follow-up afterwards.
Lambert glances up from stirring the drink as Vesemir enters the kitchen. The old witcher is carrying a basket with fresh broccoli from the winter garden, tiny bits of ice glimmering on green buds from being washed outdoors in the cold. Taking a deep breath in, he smiles appreciatively. “It smells delicious.” Yellow irises find the bottles of apple cider out on the countertop. “Ah. I see you got into my juice stores.”
“For a good cause, old man.”
Vesemir’s nostrils flare as he leans towards the pot. “Yes, indeed. An after-dinner treat?”
How does he always know these things. “Yeah,” Lambert admits.
“Would you be willing to trust me to watch over your handiwork for a bit? I thought I would add broccoli to the menu tonight, but the table in the hall could really use a wipe down before we sit down to eat.”
“Sure, I can go do that. Stir the pot on the stove occasionally and don’t fucking burn my food, okay?”
Vesemir acquiesces with a nod and waves the younger witcher out the door.
The table is rather dusty and bread crumb-covered from a multitude of meals, so Lambert wipes it down with a dry cloth and then a wet one. He also takes the opportunity to set the table, putting out plates and silverware for all the witchers, though not in the pompous, shitty way a noble household would. Just a fork and a knife, thank you very much. The butter dish and the ceramic howling wolf salt and pepper shakers Eskel had brought back one winter go on the table too. Vesemir keeps his eyes on the broccoli he has searing on the stove as Lambert comes in and out of the kitchen, pretending not to notice as the younger snags napkins for the table that he knows will be neatly folded beside their plates. And he thinks they don’t know that he cares.
Eventually all the food is done cooking and the old witcher lets Lambert take care of the plating of things, helping him carry the platters of roast potatoes and fish and broccoli into the hall. The smells must reach the other witchers in the keep as Geralt and Eskel quickly appear at the door, dressed in clean clothes with cheeks pink-flushed and the slightly spicy-sweet scent from the witch hazel soap they keep in the hot springs wafting off of them.
“Wow, that smells good,” Eskel comments. Geralt’s nostrils flare in agreement and the two are quick to take their usual seats at the table, eagerly eyeing the spread in front of them.
As soon as Vesemir fills his plate, the rest of them are free to dig in as well. Scenting the air, mouth partway open, Geralt gravitates towards the fish without garlic and scoops a good chunk onto his plate. Eskel takes a smaller piece from the same pan and a similar one from the other as well. Like Vesemir, Lambert takes a big serving of the fish with garlic. They all take potatoes and cut them open, steam wafting into the air from the well-cooked soft white insides. Goat butter melts quickly from the heat and they sprinkle rock salt on top of potatoes now drenched in gold. Broccoli joins the rest of the food on their plates and they eat in silence for a while, too hungry from the day’s work and grateful for a good meal to have the wherewithal to interrupt it with conversation.
Eventually though, as Vesemir and Geralt go back for second servings of their preferred fish and Eskel takes more broccoli, they find themselves able to take their concentration enough off the food to talk.
“Thank you for making dinner, Lambert,” Geralt says, because sometimes he can be a polite bastard. Lambert suspects it has something to do with all that time the white-haired man spends around a certain uppity sorceress.
“Yeah, thanks,” Eskel parrots, talking through a mouthful of potato because he doesn’t have a questionable influence in his life to teach him courtly manners. “’S delicious.”
Vesemir nods in agreement. “Quite.”
Resisting the urge to shrug off the praise, Lambert pretends the tips of his ears aren’t turning red. “Mhmm. Yeah. Uh. You’re welcome, I guess.” He remembers the wassail he has simmering in the kitchen still, and takes the excuse to flee the room. “Hot drinks, for after dinner. Should be done, so I’ll, uh, go get them.” Getting up and walking away, he waits until he’s completely out of eyesight of the others, because Vesemir would somehow fucking know if he didn’t, before he lets the bubbling warm feeling in his chest spill onto his face. He smiles the entire walk back to the kitchen.
Returning with a big wooden pitcher full of hot wassail that drifts the sweet scents of apples, citrus, and spices into the air with curls of steam, he pours it into the mugs gathered at the far end of the table, placing one in front of each witcher.
Vesemir, the madman, doesn’t even blow on his before gulping down a large mouthful. He swallows and immediately goes back for a second, humming his approval.
Slightly more cautious, Eskel blows on the surface of his drink before trying it. His face changes to a contemplative look and then he nods, seemingly in approval.
Geralt takes a sip from his mug with an unreadable expression. Lambert watches him carefully, knowing the other witcher can’t stand to drink apple cider on its own. Taking another sip, Geralt lets out a quiet grunt.
Lambert’s voice gets ahead of his head. “So? Is it good?” Shit shit shit way too pushy, what, do you need validation or something-
Shrugging, Geralt says, like he’s simply stating a fact, “Everything you make is good.”
There is a pleased yet embarrassed heat rising in Lambert’s cheeks, because Geralt doesn't say nice things when he doesn't mean them. “Fuck you.” Dammit, why can’t he be the kind of person who just goes speechless in moments like this.
Geralt doesn’t reply, but he’s smiling in that tiny way he thinks is unnoticeable, with the very corners of his lips and the tilt of his eyebrows, or something. The white-haired witcher doesn’t go back for seconds of the hot drink like Eskel does, or fourths like Vesemir, but he finishes the mug that Lambert poured for him, which is compliment enough in the younger’s opinion.
It’s a good night, he thinks, as they finish their drinks and Geralt and Eskel take the dishes back to the kitchen to scrub them clean. Even better as they all pile into the study, with it’s warm wooden walls and bearskin rugs a ballast against the winter’s chill. They quickly have a fire burning bright in the hearth, and the room becomes cozy and comfortable. Vesemir settles into his armchair with the old bestiary he’s currently annotating and the three younger witchers tangle together in a pile on the fur splayed before the fire. They wrestle lazily for a bit before sprawling out drowsily, serene and drifting somewhere close to sleep.
In the early hours of the next morning the armchair is empty, bestiary shut neatly on the accent table beside it, and the fire has reduced itself to cold ashes. Lambert wakes up to white hair tickling his nose and his feet tangled with Eskel’s, the other man’s calves laying on top of Geralt’s knees. Soft fur brushes his chin from the bearskin that had been spread over the three of them sometime in the night, keeping them warm beneath it with their combined body heat long after the fire had died out. There’s no window in this room but Lambert has a feeling it’s still not late enough for them to need to get up, so he lies there with his eyes closed, simply enjoying the weight and warmth of his brothers beside him.

4 Warming Cinnamon Body Care Recipes
Wonderfully warming and delightfully scented, cinnamon makes a lovely addition to body care products in particular during cold winter months. I love combining cinnamon with flowers such as lavender and especially rose. The earthy happiness of the cinnamon is wonderful with the delicate beautiful scent of flowers. Here are four delightful recipes for playing with cinnamon and flowers!
CINNAMON ROSE OATMEAL BATH Oatmeal Baths Are Wonderfully Slippery And Mucilaginous Helping To Nourish Skin While Soothing Dryness. The Addition Of Cinnamon And Roses Makes The Bath Warming While It Gently Stimulates The Immune System. Perfect For Winter! This Bath Could Not Be Any Easier To Make And It Is A Joy To Experience! It Has Three Simple Ingredients - Rose Petals, Cinnamon And Oats - Though You Can Get Fancy And Add In Some Of The Extras Listed Below If You Wish.
Ingredients ~
This makes enough for 2 nice slippery baths.
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup lovely rose petals
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Optional Extras:
½ cup epsom or dead sea salts
¼ cup powdered milk
a few drops of essential oil, nice additions would be: orange, lemon, rose geranium, cedarwood, sandalwood or frankincense
play around by swapping the rose petals with lavender blossoms
Instructions ~
Mix everything together and you are done! Make bath sachets by scooping your mixture into cheesecloth, muslin bags or even nice clean socks (tie off at the top) so that your oatmeal bath will be ready to go at bathtime. Or simply store in jar and bundle you the mixture when you are ready to bathe.
To take your bath: Fill up your tub with the hottest water you can get from the spout. Add the bath sachet and wait for the water to cool to a nice bathing temperature. While you are waiting for the water to cool, you little sachet will be infusing making a lovely herbal “tea” right in the tub. When the bath is cool enough, slide in and enjoy! Be sure to squeeze your sachet to liberate the slippery, milky goodness within. Use it to gently scrub your skin.
CINNAMON ROSE BATH BOMB
The Basic Formulation For A Bath Bomb Is 2 Parts Baking Soda To 1 Part Citric Acid. This Is How You Get A Nice Fizz Going On By Combining The Basic Baking Soda With The Acidic Citric Acid. Then You Need To Add Just Enough Liquid To Make Everything Stick Together Without Causing A Fizzing Reaction. I Also Like To Add Healing Salts To The Mix Along With Herbs And Oils!
Here is one of my favourite recipes, there is just enough orange to brighten up the cinnamon and play with the rose.
Ingredients ~
¾ cup citric acid
1 ½ cups baking soda
¾ cup combination of salts: epsom, fine pink himalayan or dead sea salt are wonderful choices
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
⅓ cup of rose petals
1 ½ to 3 tsp of rose hydrosol, witch hazel or plain water
1 tablespoon oil, use your vanilla infused oil* if you have made some or olive, almond or apricot kernel are lovely choices
6 drops sweet orange or blood orange essential oil
Instructions ~
First, mix all the dry ingredients together making sure to break up any lumps. Carefully add the oil and essential oils while stirring to limit any bubbling action in your bowl. Finally add the rose hydrosol (or whatever you are using) a bit at a time, again stirring while you go. I actually put the rose hydrosol in a spritzer bottle and spray it into the mixture a couple squirts at a time. Keep spraying and stirring until the mixture holds together when you squeeze it in your hand.
Mould your bath bombs in whatever container you have on hand. Muffin tins work wonderfully, as do soap moulds, plastic Christmas balls (the kind that pop open), and even Easter eggs.
VANILLA CINNAMON BROWN SUGAR SCRUB WITH FLOWERS
This body scrub is dark, rich and nourishing for the skin. It smells like a delicious cookie with a hint of lovely flowers. I like to keep a little jar by the sink to smooth and cleanse my hands, easing away dry flaky skin. Of course it is wonderful as a full body scrub too!
Ingredients ~
1 cup tightly packed brown sugar
⅔ cup nourishing vanilla infused oil* see below or simply use another oil such as almond or apricot kernel
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoon each rose petals & lavender blossoms
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 drops cinnamon essential oil
6 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops rose geranium essential oil
Instructions ~
Assembling this scrub couldn’t be easier, just mix everything up together and put in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Please do not use on open sores and be careful in the tub when using as it makes things slippery!
*Nourishing Vanilla Infused Oil:Ingredients ~
⅛ cup each rose buds or petals and lavender blossoms
1/2 cup calendula flowers
2 vanilla beans, split and scraped
1 ½ cup of oil. Because it is so stable, I like to use olive oil however it does have leave a slight odour once the oil is finished infusing. If you are concerned about that almond or apricot kernel are lovely alternative choices.
Method ~
Place your herbs including the scrapings from the vanilla bean and the vanilla itself into a clean, dry jar. Cover the herbs with oil and put on a with a tight fitting lid. Let your oil infuse in a dark place for 4 to 6 weeks. Or you can place it in the sun to capture all that amazing energy, this is my favourite method. If you are in a hurry you can place the jar in a warm water bath on your stovetop on in a crockpot. Heat on low for 4 to 8 hours. Once your oil is finished infusing, strain out the herbs and you are all set to go with a wonderfully fragrant, healing oil!
CINNAMON VANILLA LOTIONS BARS
These lotion bars are wonderfully moisturinzing making them a favorite for anyone who suffers with dry hands, heels or elbows during the winter time. There are a couple of different variations on the frangrances to choose from, the simplest is just cinnamon. Simple yet wonderful!
Ingredients ~
This recipe makes about 4 small (2” diameter by ½” high) lotions bars. It can easily be doubled or quadrupled.
¼ cup beeswax pastilles or grated beeswax
¼ cup oil, use the Nourishing Vanilla Infused Oil* if you have some made or you can use almond, apricot kernel or any infused herbal oil you have on hand
3 tablespoons shea butter
1 tablespoon cocoa butter
8 drops cinnamon essential oil
Variations ~
Cinnamon Vanilla & Lavender Lotion Bars: Make as above and add 16 drops of lavender essential oil.
Relaxing Cinnamon Lotion Bars: Make as above and add 8 drops of lavender essential oil plus 12 drops of cedarwood essential oil.
Cinnamon Vanilla Flower Lotion Bars: Make as above and add 4 drops each of orange, rose geranium, lavender and ylang ylang essential oils.
Instructions ~
Melt everything together except for the essential oils in a double boiler. To set up a double boiler for this project you will need a jar, can or pan that is specifically used for projects with beeswax as beeswax is difficult to clean-up. Set the jar/can/pan inside another pan, add water to create to the outside pan. This will help the beeswax to melt slowly and preserve the integrity of the oils. Gently heat until the beeswax is just melted. Remove from the heat and add your essential oils, gently stir with a toothpick or spoon. Pour into moulds. Soap moulds and silicone baking cups make great moulds. When the bars have hardened pop them out and enjoy!

You know what I did yesterday, I got up and walked away from the house and went somewhere and met 4 dogs and found a kids jewelry kit with charms that look like cakes and donuts and beads that look like ice cream cones and eventually came home.
I also had to take the longest fu#king bus route in the city to get there and got cramps in both calves at the same time.
But after a whole night of listening to yaps and squawks I didn’t see why I had to listen to a whole day of them too. Of course after keeping everyone up the squawker they a temper tantrum to want to go on a car trip, so they could sleep in the car, but that didn’t happen! They had to stay home and be all bored and shit for punishment! Perhaps something is finally getting through.
As it was a bit of a travel light daycation I didn’t have a camera with me but if I find myself doing that again I think I want to start a trend of taking pictures of the pets I meet.
Actually it might not ever happen again unless I am seriously going nucking futz because if my health care was of the least amount of importance around here we’d be trying to figure out why the more I walk and try to exercise the more my legs hurt.
Like both calves cramping so bad I can’t straiten my legs bad.
On the DIY bath bomb side I don’t know what to do next. I used a couple of the batch without oil or scent yesterday, they didn’t fizz and kind of just fell apart in the water. The test with the witch hazel batch did about the same.
All of my results have come out with orange speckles and turned the water slightly orange even without colorant. I think a bit too much moister in the mix reacting with the citric acid is part of it. I’m going to research more and think more. Until the ones I made get used there’s no room for more to dry safely away from the pets.
They work for softening the water they just don’t fizz like I’d want. And it’s all about the making them myself.
I haven’t decided in either direction about getting some melt and pour soap yet. Meanwhile the little bottle of sweet orange scent is making the bathroom smell nice.
I don’t like scented hand soap, or I’d scent that, but a light fragrance in bath stuff is okay.
As for reading and arting and writing I’ll be resting my legs for some time so there will be time for that. I rearranged the office space to make reaching the books and supplies easier. Don’t mean I’ll have any ideas.
Still I had to get out yesterday and clear my head. When outside people are telling you that you’re the sane person in a situation listen to them, they might know something.
Answer me this if you are someone with a verbal tic, don’t you want to stop? Don’t you take how other people might feel in to consideration? Don’t you try any sensible advice to get it under control?
Or do you go out of your way to be as loud as possible, disturb other people, and ignore any offers of help because your “space healers” will eventually “heal” you because you’re so fu#king special no one on Earth can “help” you. And you have your head shoved very far up your egotistical ass.
None of the people I was around yesterday who had outward signs of neurological issues disturbed the bus yesterday, only the pants on the ground teenagers did thinking we all wanted to hear their vulgar rap.

Golden Hemp CBD And it's amazing at keeping the skin on my face clear. If you stick to eating a common sense diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and nuts you should do well overall. If you have bubbles once you pour, spray the surface with high proof alcohol ( eg vodka) or Witch Hazel.
However, with the increasing pollution in ocean waters, there are many government warnings against eating fish for getting optimal levels of omega3 fats. While this product has been hounded for its negative side in being similar to marijuana, it has a lot of medicinal benefits. The ultimate Omega 3 benefit is specific to supporting a health heart.
The word "emollient" and the word "moisturizer" are sometimes interchanged. But we all know that there is only so much fish you can and should eat. Broccoli - This contains vitamin C in huge quantities along with calcium.
This will ensure that your oil is as fresh as can possibly be. These foods include fish, oil of fish, flax seeds, soybeans, navy beans, walnuts, shrimps and tofu. Supplements on the other hand, undergo various refining processes and hence are toxin free.
For a more relaxing moment, add a few Lavender essential oil drops and light a scented candle. The secret is, both pharmaceutical industry and the medical establishment don't want you to know. I use Dr Bronners liquid castile soap purchased from the health food store. As for calories-if you are too thin, you aren't getting enough.
Avoid fried foods and cut down on the amount of oil you use in cooking. This nutrient comes through eating healthy foods that aren't normally part of the average teenager's diet. Golden Hemp CBD Made with a base of CBD Hemp Oil and candelilla wax, these balms keep lips soft without any animal ingredients. Many vegetable oils contain a good ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fats.
Among these are walnuts which are shaped like the human brain, and as we all know the brain thrives on healthy fats and most definitely requires EFA's, since it is a fatty organ. Hazel nuts have a small amount of omega 3's and generous amounts exist in pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds. To obtain more information and get a free report, be sure and visit our website. It has various essential fatty acids CBD Hemp Oil that the body needs to function correctly. I've known about the benefits of fish oil for several years now, but when I learned about its connection to heart disease I decided to put my research skill to work and find out a little more.
Many fad diets emphasize the elimination of certain food groups or eating primarily only one or two food groups. There are no hard and fast rules in this type of soap making except to take care with the l temperature of your melted soap and the obvious safety precautions. In addition to this, products made with the oil of the Hoki fish found in the waters of New Zealand are excellent because these waters contain very little amounts of heavy metals and toxins. It also works great when giving a foot massage too.

youtube
Given that we live in an evermore health-conscious society, the Organic Daily Post wants to offer our readers some natural alternatives to those chemical-based prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) acne medications.
In search of a more holistic approach to acne treatment, people are reporting impressive results using more natural, homemade remedies.
Hello Essential Oils!
Essential Oils (EO) are growing in popularity with their seemingly unlimited uses and more being discovered every week. This article will show you how many people treat acne and dry skin with EO. You’ll also discover that you don’t need to resort to harsh chemicals to have a clearer complexion and softer, smoother skin. What you will need to follow this Tutorial:
Essential Oils that you love.
When it comes to combating acne and other epidermal issues, there are countless essential oils that can be used. The following are some EO options (but by know means all) and what they can best be used for. Click on any heading to see our recommended source for these oils.
Important Note: Whichever Essential Oils you choose, always buy the best oils you can afford to buy, as a high quality product is imperative for success and lends itself to a more enjoyable overall experience.
Tea Tree Oil
TEA TREE OIL IS GREAT for acne because it contains natural germ-fighting properties. Additionally, it is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal agent that can reduce the swelling of pimples and remove the bacteria causing the initial breakouts.
PRO TIP: If the Tea Tree oil is a little strong for you, simply mix it with jojoba (ho-ho-buh) oil to help dilute it a bit.
Important Note: Whatever you choose for an oil, make sure that the oils you purchase are high quality. Remember, you’re breathing this oil into your lungs so essential oil quality is a terrible place to cut corners.
Lavender Oil
LAVENDER OIL IS A FAVORITE essential oil to many people for many reasons. Not only does it have a clean and sweet fragrance, it’s also beneficial to your skin. Moreover, it is analgesic, antibacterial and antiseptic. It may also help reduce the pain often associated with more severe cases of acne. Lavender oil is a beneficial astringent for nearly anyone with oily skin.
Pro Tip: Lavender can dry-out the skin so it’s a good idea to put in a few drops of your regular moisturizer (like coconut oil) and use them together if you want drier (but not too dry) skin. Experiment. Frankincense Oil
FRANKINCENSE HAS WONDERFUL anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that may help heal acne. Interestingly, Frankincense is more often preferred by men due to its woodsy, rather than floral, scent.
Pro Tip: Frankincense essential oil works well in combination with other essential oils, even boosting their healing properties. Mix & match.
Oregano Oil
OREGANO OIL IS ANOTHER essential oil you may want to blend with other essential or carrier oils because Oregano can cause skin irritation when used in large doses by itself. You can also add a drop or two to your daily moisturizer to reap the benefits of Oregano oil while reducing the risk of irritation. Rosemary Oil
ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OIL IS GOOD for oily or combination skin. It reduces the natural oils the skin produces as well as the swelling and puffiness that can accompany breakouts. Rosemaryimproves bloodstream circulation and is a natural astringent.
Pro Tip: Rosemary oil will be less harsh than the chemical astringents found in retail stores. Geranium Oil
GERANIUM OIL CONTAINS NATURAL and effective antioxidants as well as antibacterial compounds.
Pro Tip: You can make a night gel by mixing Geranium oil with aloe vera and applying it at bedtime. Chamomile Oil
CHAMOMILE (cam-o-meal) OIL IS REPORTED to be helpful for adults, especially when there is acnescarring. CO will help calm new redness and acne flare-ups as well.
Clary Sage Oil
WHEN ACNE IS BROUGHT ON BY hormonal imbalances, clary sage can be very helpful in helping the body rebalance those hormones. Calming Clary sage oil has shown to be effective in relieving anxiety and reducing stress. Eucalyptus Oil
EUCALYPTUS OILO HELPS REMOVE excess oils and dirt thereby reducing unsightly blackheads and whiteheads. Lemon Oil
LEMON OIL HELPS CLEAR UP current acne and acts quickly to restore your skin’s natural balance.
Pro Tip: If you apply lemon oil, be careful not to be in the sun too much because that can cause the skin to discolor. Myrrh Oil
MYRRH OIL CAN TREAT RASHES and help acne from recurring. It can also eliminate warts and the bacteria that cause acne. Patchouli Oil
PATCHOLI (patch-oo-lee) OIL HELPS TREAT scarring, rashes and acne. Coconut Oil
COCONUT OIL IS REALLY GOOD for you (inside and out) and can be used in combination with these oils and in the recipes found below. Jojoba Oil
JOJOBA (ho-ho-buh) OIL IS ALSO USED to dilute essential oils as evidenced in many of the recipes below. .As you can see, there are many choices available when it comes to which essential oils to use for acne and it really depends on your specific situation and fragrance choice. Further research will guide you toward the best EO for your skin condition.
Pro Tip: It is important to learn the underlying causes of your acne to determine the best treatment. 5 Steps to Preparing Essential Oils on Your Face
Dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil, such as jojoba. There are different recommended dilutions depending on your specific circumstances. For use on children over 6 years old, pregnant women or the elderly, a 1% solution is recommended to begin with.
THE FORMULA IS ONE (1) DROP OF ESSENTIAL OIL TO ONE TEASPOON OF CARRIER OIL.
For most adults it’s safe to use a 2% solution, which is two (2) drops of essential oil per one (1) teaspoon of carrier oil.
IF YOU ARE UNCERTAIN, use the newly diluted solution to perform a patch test on a small area of skin first.
Then follow these four (4) steps
Place a band-aid over the treated section of skin Wait a day to see if the area begins to itch or swell If there are no issues, feel free to use that essential oil For future concerns, repeat with any of the oils you’re considering using EO Recipes
Another thing to consider when looking at essential oils for acne is using a combination of oils as shown in the following recipes. This will help mix the ideal amounts and make them the most efficacious. Acne Moisturizer
To make an acne moisturizer, follow these steps:
Blend together three (3) tablespoons of jojoba oil, five (5) drops of tea tree oil, five (5) drops of oregano oil, five (5) drops of chamomile and five (5) drops of rosemary essential oil.
Store in a dark bottle Apply lightly to the affected area as needed Blemish Stick
Make a blemish stick as easy as 1 2 3:
Find an empty lip balm tube or small pot Blend two (2) tablespoons of melted coconut oil, four (4) drops of frankincense essential oil, and six (6) drops of tea tree essential oil with four (4) drops of lavender essential oil and put into a container of your choice Use at night on blemishes that are inflamed Oil Fighting Face Wash
To make an oil-fighting face wash, follow these simple steps:
Blend two (2) tablespoons of jojoba oil with five (5) to ten (10) drops of geranium essential oil then add five (5) to ten (10 ) drops of frankincense essential oil to one (1) tablespoon of rosehip oil Pour and store in a dark glass bottle Cleanse the skin with witch hazel and a cotton ball Massage one teaspoon of this oil-fighting face wash into the skin Rinse your face with warm water and gently pat dry with a clean towel
To make an essential oil acne treatment blend to use in the additional recipe below: Mix twenty (20) drops of lavender essential oil, thirty (30) drops of tea tree essential oil and thirty (30) drops of lemon essential oil into a dark bottle. 2 Step Castile Facial Cleanser
To make a Castile (cas-steel) facial cleanser, follow these two (2) easy steps:
Mix fifty (50) drops of the essential oil acne treatment blend with two (2) ounces of jojoba oil, two (2) ounces of natural aloe vera gel and eight (8) ounces of liquid Castile soap Put the mixture into a pump bottle to use as a facial cleanser
We hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial featuring the different ways you can use Essential Oils to effectively treat Acne. With all the chemical choices out there, it is reassuring to know you have some all-natural options you can make at home that actually work.
Please comment on this article and feel free to share. Thanks for reading!

Potions For The Bath 4
Bee Sweet Bath Oils
2 cup of liquid honey, warm 3 1/2 cups of homo milk 3/4 cup salt 1/3 cup of baking soda 1 3/4 cup of Sweet Almond or Mineral Oil 10 drops of scented oils
Simply place the honey, milk, and baking soda in a bowl and stir together. Add oil and scent if you are using it. You will have to stir very well to mix. You can also use a hand blender, it is quicker. Place the finished oils in a jar with a turn lid or cork stopper and if not using immediately seal by adding a little melted wax to cork before corking the bottle. Decorate the jars with rafia
Fizzy Bath Beads
2 parts baking soda 1 part cornstarch 1 part citric or ascorbic acid (found in beer making stores) 1 part olive oil
Mix very well. Add UP to 1 part olive oil, until the consistency of pastry dough. Add a few drops scented oil if you want them scented. Form into small, golf- sized balls. Store in cellophane wrapper.
Bath Bombs
½ cup baking soda ¼ cup cornstarch ¼ cup citric acid 1 teaspoon deodorised cocoa butter, melted 2 teaspoons of scent of your choice, essential oil or fragrance oil 1 tablespoon distilled water colourant, if desired
Mix the baking soda, cornstarch, and citric acid together in glass or stainless steel bowl. Make "well" in the middle and drizzle melted cocoa butter and scent. Blend well. Add a few drops of desired colourant to your distilled water and add to your other ingredients. It will fizz a little. If it fizzes too much, use less water next time. Pack firmly into soap mould. The more compact you do this the better your bomb will be. Turn out onto wax paper or plastic wrap. Let dry and harden. After a few hours, package. Keep from getting damp again. The bombs will fizz when added to your bath.
Bath Silks
These mixtures leaves a silky feeling on your skin.
The body should be patted dry rather than rubbed in order to have the fragrance hang on a little longer.
Let silks age 48 hours before you use them; this allows the combination of scents to become friendly. The gum arabic in the formulas acts to blend the oil and water so they won't separate in the tub.
Lavender Silk
An English garden scent-the early morning kind when dew is still on the leaves.
2 tablespoons safflower ore sesame oil 2 droppers oil of lavender 2 tablespoons gum arabic (powdered) 1 cup water
Combine the oils. Make a smooth paste by placing the gum in a bowl and adding the oils, a few drops at a time. Be sure the paste is free of lumps. Begin to add water, a spoonful at a time. When you have enough volume, beat with an egg beater, continuing to add water until the whole cup is added. The solution will turn milky in colour as you beat. Place in a glass bottle and store in the refrigerator. Use about 1/4 cup per tub.
Lavender Silk with Cinnamon
A spicy fragrance that both men and women enjoy.
1/ 4 cup safflower or sesame oil 24 drops oil of lavender 12 drops oil of cinnamon 2 tablespoons gun arabic (powdered) 2 cups water
Proceed as with Lavender Silk (above).
Lavender Silk with Clove
When plain old clove and lavender combine they create a scent that makes anyone's body feel cherished.
Follow directions for Lavender Silk substituting 1 dropper oil of clove for the cinnamon.
Herb Bubble Bath Gel
1 cup water 1 Tbs. sweet woodruff 1 tsp. mint 1 Tbs. comfrey 1 Tbs. angelica 5 Tbs. pure or castile soap 2 Tbs. glycerine 2 tsp. witch hazel 5 drops oil of lemon verbena 1 Tbs. unflavoured gelatin
Makes about 3/4 pint gel
This recipe makes a lovely, softening mixture which produces a nice foam if you pour it into the bath before running the water.
Measure out the ingredients and boil the water. Make an infusion of the herbs and the boiling water. Grate the soap. Strain the infusion and discard the herbs. Add the soap, stirring well. Combine the glycerine and witch hazel, and add the oil. Add this to the herb mixture. When it is thoroughly mixed, add the gelatin, and stir until it is perfectly dissolved. When cool, transfer the mixture to small jars.
Bath Jelly
This is a great way to get kids to jump into the bath.
What you will Need: 1 Packet of unflavoured gelatin 1/2 cup of liquid soap 3/4 Cup of water Food Colouring Fragrance oils or essential oils Plastic storage jar with lid
Add a small toy into the Jelly before it sets to give the kids an incentive to get to the bottom of the Jelly soap. Dispose of the jelly after several weeks or if mould is present, Avoid mould by keeping it in an airtight container in a cool place at all times. Empty the packet of gelatin into a bowl and set aside.. Boil 3/4 cup of water using a saucepan or Kettle. Carefully pour the hot water into mixing bowl and mix it with the gelatin powder. Let the gelatin dissolve completely . Next pour the liquid soap into the gelatin mix in the bowl. Add 2 drops of food colouring into the mix and also add your fragrance oil now (about 5 drops) and stir it very gently so the bubbles do not become agitated . POWERFUL HERBAL PAIN RELIEF
by Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs
A few days ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the home of a gracious woman who deals in antiques. As I admired the many fine pieces displayed there, I came to realise that I, too, am something of a period piece a baby boomer who’s fundamentally sound but sporting the odd creaky hinge or two.Fortunately, the herbal apothecary holds promise. Its medicines are good alternatives to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for chronic, mild to moderate aches and can reduce the need for prescription drugs.More than 100 plants are known to have pain-relieving properties, but some are really outstanding. Reporting on herbal painkillers for arthritis, a review of clinical trials in the
Clinical Journal of Pain
says devil’s claw
{Harpagophytum procumbens}
, capsaicin from hot chills
{Capsicum spp.}
, gamma-linolenic acid {GLA} from seed oils, and certain blended herbal extracts are especially good. Other studies indicate broader pain-relieving benefits from these as well as two traditional favourites, white willow
{Salix spp.}
and peppermint
{Mentha x piperita}
.Herbal Rx: Devil’s Claw and Capsaicin. Devil’s claw Is a South African herb with medicinally active roots. This herb eases muscular tension or pain in the back, shoulders, and neck. A popular treatment for osteoarthritis pain, it may ease the rheumatoid arthritis pain as well. The herb’s active ingredients are
harpagide and harpagoside
, both iridoid glycosides with analgesic {pain-relieving} and anti-inflammatory actions. Devil’s claw extract has been shown to reduce osteoarthritic hip or knee pain by 25 percent and improve mobility within a few weeks. Rheumatoid arthritis pain may also be reduced and mobility enhanced within about two months. Devil’s claw extract is considered safe at the typical dosage of 750 mg {containing 3 percent iridoid glycosides} taken three times daily. It is also available as tincture {use 1 teaspoon up to three times daily} and tea. It should not be taken with blood-thinning medications and may not be safe during pregnancy or for young children, nursing mothers, and individuals with liver or kidney disease, or digestive system ulcers.Capsaicin. Puts the heat in hot peppers. It manipulates the body’s pain status by hindering pain perception, triggering the release of pain-relieving endorphins and providing analgesic action. Commercial capsaicin-containing creams such as Zostrix, Heat, and Capzasin-P are used topically for arthritis and nerve pain. Creams containing .025 percent capsaicin can significantly reduce osteoarthritic pain when applied to joints four times daily. A higher concentration of .075 percent works best for peripheral nerve pain such as that from diabetic nerve damage, HIV, and pain following cancer surgery. When using topical capsaicin products, be sure to avoid touching your eyes and other sensitive areas.Capsaicin also can be taken internally to help with chronic digestive discomfort, or dyspepsia: A daily dose of 0.5 to 1 grams cayenne, divided and taken before meals, reduces pain, bloating and nausea over a few weeks. If you like to munch hot peppers, rest assured that they do not aggravate stomach ulcers as is commonly believed, and they actually might protect your stomach from prescription-drug damage.Herbal Blends and Other Old Friends. We’re also hearing more about commercial herbal mixtures for pain relief. Two apparently promising ones are avocado/soybean unsaponifiable and Phytodolor, both from Europe. Avocado/soybean unsaponifiable is a complex mix of sterols, pigments and other substances found in the oils, and initial trials suggest that a daily dose of 300 mg soothes hip and knee osteoarthritis pain by anti-inflammatory actions.Phytodolor, with a 40-year history in Germany, is a liquid extract of European aspen
{Populus tremula} , European ash
{Fraxinus excelsior} and European goldenrod
{Solidago virgaurea}
. The extract helps muscle and joint conditions, including osteoarthritis; it contains salicin and other chemicals with anti-inflammatory and possibly antioxidant properties.Don’t discount the psychological dimensions of pain in everyday aches. For instance, most headaches have psychogenic causes {such as anxiety, depression, and stress}, rather than vascular causes {dilated or distended blood vessels in the brain}. Psychogenic headaches tend to be diffuse, often feeling more like pressure than pain, and often are accompanied by muscular tension. Vascular headaches, including migraines, respond more readily to painkillers, whereas emotionally induced ones might benefit more from herbs with calming or sedative properties, such as lavender
{Lavandula angustifolia}
, chamomile
{Matricaria recutita}
or valerian
{Valeriana officinalis}
.It shouldn’t be surprising that pain is multidimensional, and our tools for combating it need to be also. When you’re suffering from creakiness or another discomfort, consider the possible causes-disease, physical strain, nutrient deficiency, chemical sensitivities, allergies or emotional stress. Then you can access the herbal apothecary effectively and appropriately, to fully restore your well-being. Chamomile Aromatherapists use chamomile essential oil to promote relaxation and pain relief. Herbs and Liver Damage.Herb expert James Duke, PhD., points out that many more herbs protect the liver than harm it. In fact, one of America’s favourite over-the-counter drugs, acetaminophen {Tylenol and other brands}, is riskier than most herbs. Although safe within recommended dosages, acetaminophen overdoses {some of which occur among people simply trying to relieve their pain} are the main cause of acute liver failure, and contribute to 500 American deaths a year. That said, the following herbs should be avoided, particularly in people with the known liver disease, heavy drinkers {or recreational drugs}, and those taking liver-taxing drugs, such as acetaminophen {Tylenol}, aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories {such as ibuprofen}, corticosteroids, statins, tetracyclines and others.Herbs that contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids:comfrey, coltsfoot, Senecio, borage leaf, and germander. Comfrey has gotten the most media attention for its connection to liver injury. In 2001, the Food and Drug Administration advised manufacturers to remove from the market comfrey products intended for internal use. Because this herb is a good wound healer, it’s often an ingredient in first-aid salves. Another PA-containing herb, butterbur, is available as a PA-free extract {Petadolex} for the prevention of migraine headaches and hay fever.Kava
{Piper methysticum}
For many years, people of the South Pacific have consumed kava beverages with the single side effect of a scaly, yellowish skin condition with excessive use. Research showing concentrated kava extracts reduced anxiety spurred its widespread popularity. Although human studies didn’t register liver toxicity, cases of liver injury {some severe} cropped up several years ago. Most involved ingestion of kava extracts made with acetone or alcohol, and often along with alcohol or drugs that can be hard on the liver.Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council, says, “no convincing proof of an inherent toxicity of kava exists,” despite ongoing research. And, while he believes kava to be relatively safe, “the jury is still out as whether kava might cause liver injury, particularly in susceptible individuals.”Steven Dentali, PhD., Chief Science Officer for the American Herbal Products Association, adds, “Considering the widespread consumption of kava beverages and the long history of apparent safe use, any toxic liver reactions are of course serious, but extremely rare.”
A general guideline:
Don’t take herbs that have even a suspicion of harming the liver if you already have liver disease or regularly drink alcohol or use recreational drugs. Also, avoid herbs if you take a medication that can be toxic to the liver.Consult your health-care provider if you are unsure.
