OFMD s2 is, I think, only the second time I’ve heard “This Woman’s Work” used in something, at least memorably, and I only just learned that it was written by Kate Bush. The first time I heard the song was with this contemporary dance about breast cancer from SYTYCD over a decade ago, and it was sung by Maxwell. Anyone else see/remember this?

Can we please remember that Taika Waititi is a zionist and not spread his face on Tumblr?
I don't care what that man has done in queer television, he's a zionist who's also racist towards afro-indigenous folks. And none of us are free until all of us are free.
If you are giving up The Last of Us and Stranger Things for their zionist creator and/or cast, then you should stop supporting and his work too. If you're boycotting Scream because of them firing Melissa Barrera for her support of Palestine, boycott OFMD.
Skyler Astin is also a raging lying zionist, so don't forget to boycott So Help Me Todd as well. And forget about the new Buffy audio things, Charisma Carpenter is just as disgusting as Tyler Astin.
While your at it, Only Murders in the Building needs to go to for Martin Short and Selena Gomez supporting the letter that's pro-israel's genocide of Palestinians.
If you're boycotting products for Palestine, boycott actors and works too.
*Edit: I was apparently misled elsewhere into thinking Rick Riordan was pro-genocide, and apparently that isn't true.

Born from one family’s passion for Kenya and its wilderness, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is one of the pioneering conservation organisations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa. Best known for our work to protect elephants, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) operates the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. But we do much more than this.

Working across Kenya, our projects include anti-poaching, safe guarding the natural environment, enhancing community awareness, addressing animal welfare issues, providing veterinary assistance to animals in need, rescuing and hand rearing elephant and rhino orphans, along with other species that can ultimately enjoy a quality of life in wild terms when grown.

*sighs* I usually don't have FedCon blues but this year it's lingering a bit. What a weekend! So happy I got tickets for both days this year: worth every damn penny for Anthony Rapp alone - having him serenade us TWICE with two NON Mark songs was HEAVEN!! (still saying they need Saturday night concerts like other cons have; especially when they have HIM there!)
Anyhow, he was my absolute highlight and the main reason I went! Both his panels were fantastic and well worth attending!
Also: the SNW cast - Melissa Navia is such a delight (despite being jetlagged as HELL!) and I REALLY hope she comes back soon, I need more of her (and possibly a photo because she's amazing!).
Surprisingly (because I didn't really plan on going to it), Todd Stashwick's panel was the first on Sunday morning and it was hilarious! That man was on fire, got gifted THREE Titan's and I've never anyone being happier about (fan)gifts in a while! Such a great start into the day!
Of course it was great seeing MY crew again even though it was rather brief this year! But there's always next year!!!
What else? AR loved my rainbow earrings and said so before our photo which makes me grin just a bit more! Then I got gifted a Tribble from a stranger just because they had them! How awesome is that! Met some lovely people in the queue on Saturday and we chatted away the waiting time.
Went star/polar lights gazing on Saturday night... (in Arthur voice) we failed! No auroras to be seen but we had a blast nevertheless!
Another fantastic weekend in the books!!!
And since the OFMD con was happening at the same time, I naturally had to rep our pirates at a scifi con - as you do!

So i saw on Twitter, 'X celebrity has been pro-Palestine and they still have a job, there's NO excuses for celebs now'. It's infuriating how chronically online people are so naive.
A few days ago it came out that a prominent Hollywood publicist using a directive to her staff to halt business with anyone Pro Palestine. And we only know about that because someone on her staff leaked it, i guarantee there's more we don't know about. It's crazy that people seem to think Melissa Barrera was the only one who lost work because of this.
And the amount of martyrs online saying that people should just let themselves be blacklisted ugh. They're living through celebs but they don't actually have anything at stake. Some people cant afford to lose work, especially not in such a fickle industry.
Using Taika as an example, cause we've been talking about him, he has a lot more people to worry to worry about than just himself, his productions hire hundreds. People were so buy cheering him 'being unemployed' when OFMD got cancelled that they ignored the hundreds of people in NZ who had to find new income for the year.
Sorry this is so long, i'm just mad at how stupid online people are when they think they're being so progessive
i read the statement/email from that publicist and it’s wild to me how the message people took from it was “see? there’s no excuse now! you HAVE to speak up!” like… this isn’t the first time there has been documented proof from people within the industry that there have been gag orders and censorship regarding palestine. and it’s not new. it’s been going on for years. decades. it’s been a known thing that speaking out against israel gets you blacklisted and labelled antisemitic.
i am genuinely moved by how many artists are willing to potentially sacrifice their careers because not speaking out isn’t an option for them. i think it’s extremely admirable. i also don’t think it’s practical to hold judgement against those who clearly have been threatened one way or another and have decided they can’t risk losing everything. especially minority creators who already have to struggle against other forms of oppression in the name of sharing their art with the world.
i think another thing to consider, like you alluded to anon, is that there is a lot of nuance in the sense that not everyone is in the same boat. a white a-lister, for example, is far more protected in the industry than an a-lister of colour. on the flip side of that, a b/c-lister who’s just starting out or beginning to make a name for themselves (usually someone younger) is likely much less afraid to be blunt about their opinions and beliefs than an a-lister, because they don’t have as much to lose.
i think we really just need to use our heads and be a bit more understanding about why some people in particular might only be able to like instagram posts or wear a ceasefire pin, and the fact that a literal open letter was made protesting public figures’ freedom of speech in the uk and nearly everyone has called the restrictions and threats made against them reminiscent of mccarthyism.

you know what would be very sexy and smart of OFMD?
assuming they get renewed which seem incredibly likely, i think next season, as they expand the world, they should make a point to stunt cast actors from well-known slash ships and have them play couples (in like 1 scene) on the show. Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen would totally show up to play pirate boyfriends in a single scene. So would Melissa Benoist and Katie McGrath. So would Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins.
i don't normally like stunt casting, but I think in this particular case it would actually add something.

What We Do in the Shadows
The One Where the Crew Has a Betting Pool (series, rated M/E; 59k; Guillermo/Nandor, Guillermo/Camera Two, Camera Two/Nandor (just roll with it)): the camera crew’s betting pool over whether Nandor and Guillermo will finally get it on gets rather out of hand. Featuring excessive bagel consumption, questionable metaphysics, and an oddly-perceptive North Jersey merman. Camera Two POV, covers Season 2 through the summer afterwards.
To Ease This Precious Ache (rated E; 2.3k; Guillermo/Nandor): Shortly after Théâtre des Vampires, Guillermo shows up on Nandor's doorstep with a seemingly-straightforward request. Things escalate rather quickly. Featuring homoerotic swordplay and Melissa Etheridge.
A Case of You (rated E; 4.2k; Guillermo/Nandor): Nandor knows you shouldn’t drink alone. Guillermo obliges. (Commensal politics throughout Guillermo’s tenure as a familiar, including four-dollar Cab Sav, eleven years of half-truths, and what exactly happens when a vampire bites you.)
Of Recklessness and Water (rated E; 8.6k; Guillermo/Nandor) Nandor stumbles across La Llorona and decides that it’s Guillermo’s problem. Unfortunately, he’s right. (Also known as "Cryptid Encounters of the Emotionally-Constipated Kind.")
Henges (rated T; 2.3k; Guillermo/Nandor). Guillermo is a New Yorker. Featuring Manhattanhenge, druids, and that classic New York garbage smell.
Six Ways 'Til Chelsea (rated M; 3.7k; Guillermo/Laszlo). When Guillermo returns to the Vampiric Council Library of Antiquities after his disastrous outing with the Cloak of Duplication, Laszlo tries to cheer him up. Via custom-curated antique pornography, of course.
Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair (rated M; WIP; Guillermo/Nandor; Nadja/Laszlo; the Baron/the Sire). San Francisco, 1967. It’s the Summer of Love and between the hippies, the Vietnam draft, and whatever the hell is going wrong with the sourdough, Guillermo de la Cruz is burning through a LOT of saint candles. The last thing he needs is a tall, handsome, and very weird hippie showing up to place a certain cake order…
Rivers of London
For Sentimental Reasons (rated M; 11.7k; Nightingale/David Mellenby, Nightingale/Seawoll, Nightingale/Peter (dude gets around, okay?)): Nightingale’s relationship with his body across the decades, particularly with regards to a certain Peter Grant.
The Isle is Full of Noises (rated M; 23.4k; Nightingale/Peter): The Folly's finest are called to North Wales to investigate sea monster sightings. Casefic.
The Room Where it Happens (rated G; 1k; gen): The Nightingale brushes up on his geopolitics.
Friends of Dorothy (rated T; 25k; Nightingale/Peter): If your posh, repressed governor starts reading you The Wizard of Oz while you’re trying to get over Skygarden, is he flirting with you, wrangling his own demons, or both? Only time will tell.
One for Sorrow, Two for Joy (rated G; 0.6k; Nightingale/Peter pre-relationship): Peter and Nightingale have the long-overdue Bird Talk.
Derry Girls
Better the Devil You Know (rated T; 4k; Sister Michael/Janet Taylor): Limavady Retreat Centre, summer 1995. Friends Across the Barricade fosters goodwill in unexpected quarters.
Ghosts (BBC)
Ghost Stories (rated M; 80k; Ensemble; The Captain/Pat Butcher, Mike/Alison Cooper): Button House, Surrey. An ex-Army captain with a mysterious past moves into a flat in a once-grand estate. His new neighbours certainly seem determined to keep life interesting… (An AU-ish where the house has been divided into flats and things get a bit metaphysical. Oh, and there’s Twister with Feelings).
Memoranda of Understanding (rated M; 2.3k; the Captain/Lieutenant Havers): Lieutenant Havers and the Captain write memos concerning Button House's latest innovations in invisible ink. The fact that the source of the ink is somewhat delicate is irrelevant. Mostly. (It's not crack if you cite your sources, right?)
Land to Light On (rated M; 69k; the Captain/Lieutenant Havers): Academia AU. At an academic conference about the role of ghosts in European society, the Captain gets more than he bargained for. Having to share a bed with a certain Dr Havers isn't even the half of it.
