FOUR.

josefina comes from a long family line of watchers, the solano family, who have resided in bearhold for the past century. they were more well known when josefina was a kid, as most of her family has passed and she is one of the last remaining members in town. she has known about the family history since as long as she can remember and the same can be said for when she wanted to become a watcher. jo grew up close to her family and wanted to follow in their footsteps, an interest in the supernatural leading the way.

after graduating from community school, jo enrolled in makah community college where she majored in history and minored in occult studies. she had originally anticipated to leave bearhold for college but the same year jo graduated high school, her mother was diagnosed with cancer. though grateful to have spent the last months by her side, an invisible string wouldn't let jo leave bearhold - and aside from the occasional vacation as a kid, she hasn't left town much either.

became engaged to her girlfriend junior year of college after a few years of dating. they had been through so much together that jo believed nothing could ever separate them. once the two of them graduated, they had a small wedding that fall. everything was so perfect that it didn't seem real - and up until a certain point, it was. jo losing her mother was hard but losing her father out of the blue only a couple months after getting married absolutely devastated her.

the biggest challenge became inheriting her father's duty as a watcher before she even had a chance to know what to do. her name was emily and though jo had known her for years, the thought of stepping into her father's shoes was terrifying. to make matters worse, javier, jo's father, had died of suspicious circumstances and emily only trusted jo. with no other option, jo accepted her duty and dove in head first, intent on making her father proud. to no one's surprise, josefina excelled and flourished as a watcher, being a helpful source of information and advice. she works well under pressure and even participated hands on in a lot of emily's training with combat skills.

samantha could only ignore the mornings where she would wake up to an empty bed for so long. jo tried to tell her as much as she could but when it came to details, the supernatural was always kept behind closed lips. patience grew thin quickly and within a few months time, divorce papers were being filed. every bit of sadness was channeled into taking care of emily but it was realized too late that jo could not take care of anyone without first taking care of herself. she worked herself to the bone afterwards, barely sleeping or eating. one night... she missed one patrol night and emily was gone, just like that. people kept vanishing around her and jo was never the same, beginning to isolate herself from deeper connections while hiding amongst books in the library.

has essentially just been going through the motions for the past decade. part of her wants to get another slayer, knowing she could be valuable, but jo doesn't want to be the cause of someone else's demise. instead she just offers help to slayers/anyone with good intentions without getting too involved. besides, she sees herself as #fragile now and doesn't know if she could handle caring for someone in that way again ! traumatized loner nerd who is haunted by her past and by those she couldn't/can't save </3

BEATRIZ - Was a nurse before the outbreak. Gentle, caring, always putting others before herself. A tad naive, saw the good in almost everyone. After the outbreak, she lost almost everyone she cared about, either because they died or they couldn’t be contacted so she assumed she was now alone. Realized there was a fierce survivor inside of herself and she learned to shoot and survive. Depending on the plot, she can be affiliated with a group of survivors who are against the government in place in the hopes of a better world. No longer gentle but still caring, only it’s to a closer circle. Loyal to a fault. Has killed before and is good at it even if she can barely stand it. ( adria arjona )

ADRIAN - Blue collar before the outbreak he quickly found himself with the wrong kind of people after the outbreak. They would find houses or small colonies and steal whatever they could, not caring about the aftermath of their actions. Was sent to a larger colony to do some recon work but the colony was attacked and Adrian took that as an opportunity to try and reinvent himself. Prone to anger and fighting, his quick temper often gets the best of himself even if he doesn’t like it. Trying to be a better man. ( danny ramirez )

ELIJAH - Used to be in the army and was with them when the outbreak happened. Continued to do as he was told for a little while but eventually saw how corrupted it was beginning to be and he rebelled. Lost his wife in the outbreak and blame himself for not having been with her at the time. Has been helping as much as he can since then. Can be a bit callous and harsh at times but there’s a sweetheart who just wants to save everyone deep inside. ( jon bernthal )

REZZA - Bartender and drummer before the outbreak. His mother remarried when Rez was a teenager and his step-dad was a survivalist and too hard on Rez, which created a lot of fighting. Rez lost touch with his family after the outbreak and he never believed his step-dad prepping would serve him but it did. Was once with a group of people that weren’t good ones and Rez has stolen and harmed others. He eventually left them, with a price for his capture and has been a very careful loner since then. There is a desire to do better in him. ( riz ahmed )

XIMENA - Survived almost be accident and luck. She was a yoga instructor and new age influencer before the outbreak. She had a lot of connections and it paid when came time to find somewhere safe. Since then her new age knowledge has paid off, as she knows a lot of alternative medicine and such, which comes in handy when resources are rare. Still a bit naive and hasn’t really had to fend off for herself, at least not when it comes to fighting for her life. She has been an asset because of her knowledge and not her fighting skills. LETICIA - Never knew her father and her mother did her best but Leti learned to look after herself and her siblings at a young age. Went from jobs to jobs and petty crimes as an adult. Was part of a gang of bandits after the outbreak and she can be very cold and cynical. Knows how to take care of yourself and rarely, if ever, accept help from others. Her only goal is to protect her siblings, at least those that are still alive. Her motto is Live Fast and Die Young. ( camila quieroz or eiza gonzalez )

Next month is the annual exhibitor showcase Cinemacon where movie studios tout their wares for the very anxious theater owners.

It has already been announced that Sony is sitting this year out, so no info on VENOM 3: THE LAST DANCE, to be released October 25, 2024.

DAY ONE: WB pulls up with their presentation "The Big Picture". It will be the first Cinemacon for James Gunn in his position as Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DC Studios.

I expect a song and dance from Gunn about how awesome sauce the new DC film universe will be

I suspect they will tease SIGHT starring Greg Kinnear and BONHOEFFER (aka GOD'S SPY) about German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, starring August Diehl, Flula Borg and Clarke Peters.

LIONSGATE: I suspect they will tease Guy Ritchie's THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE starring a pick-a-mix of men for all tastes - Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding and Hero Fiennes Tiffins

; the action-thriller BOY KILLS WORLD fronted by Bill Skarsgård and costarring Sharlto Copley, Andrew Koji (who is working like mad), Famke Janssen and Isaiah Mustafa.

At long last the BALLERINA has pliete into the spotlight. This JOHN WICK spinoff stars Ana De Armas, with Anjelica Huston reprising her role from JOHN WICK 2. It's direct by Len Wiseman who directed the UNDERWORLD films starring his ex-wife Kate Beckinsale.

BORDERLANDS, an action-comedy based on the game, brought to the screen by Eli Roth. Starring Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Haley Bennett and Édgar Ramírez, amongst others.

and WHITE BIRD, which is in the same universe as the excellent children geared film WONDER. It was due to come out in 2023 but was pushed back due to the actors strike.

UNIVERSAL / FOCUS FEATURES: I suspect teases for Dev Patel's directorial debut MONKEY MAN. The film was originally slated to go to Netflix but Jordan Peele, under his Monkey Paw shingle, bought it and took it to Universal so it could have a theatrical release. *Granted, Netflix does a theatrical release for most of their films in certain markets, but I get Peele's rationale.

Their Monsters Universe theatrical idea didn't work, but Universal has realized there is more than one way to skin a cat. They are creating a Universal Monsters themed area at their parks and their monster/horror film ABIGAIL is a re-imaging of DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. It stars Alisha Weir, Melissa Barrera and Dan Stevens and features Angus Cloud in one of his last roles.

THE FALL GUY most definitely will have a place. Same with THE BIKERIDERS (with Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Norman Reedus, Mike Faist, etc.), which was a 20th Century (Disney owned) Film, and even though it was the first major film out the gate ahead of Oscars/Golden Globes' FYC season with a screening and Q&A held in L.A., the studio purposely stalled the engine and towed it off their schedule. It will now be distributed by Focus Features in the U.S., and Universal, internationally.

Other possible teases? DESPICABLE ME 4, TWISTERS, the standalone sequel to the 90s film TWISTERS

dropping some thoughts about vida here

i started watching this show for melissa barrera and i absolutely enjoyed it and have rewatched some episodes bc it's very entertaining

s3 felt kind of different, it was almost like the sisters switched roles at some points

i might be reading too much into it, but in the first few eps as emma and nico's relationship was going well i would look at emma's face and be like she's happy but she's still waiting for the other shoe to drop, and of course it did. and i was so sad to see her clam up again and fall back into her whole "vulnerability = weakness" thing. for a few episodes she just looked so dead inside like she was seriously depressed and triggered with everything going on, like nico's secret wife and her awful dad making himself known

i love lyn so much but i need her to be single. i'm so glad she finally realized where her true priorities lie and that she needs to work on turning into a chameleon with the men in her life but i just hate that it happened in the last like 20 minutes of the series finale

side note but i was not expecting lyn to get so into religion for a hot minute. i mean i understand that it was her yet again molding herself to the people in her life, so i think she snapped out of it once her father showed his true colors but still like it was so jarring. god the man gave me such awful vibes and the last scene of him and emma after she confronted him was legitimately hard to watch

the sisters spent so much time apart and on different pages this season it made me sad :( i completely understand why but i do miss the moments in the first episode or in earlier seasons when they were sisterly and messing with each other

i love that mari had some more time this season to build herself up a little more and yes this is cruel to say but her dad dying is a blessing ! now she can finally look after herself and find people who appreciate what she does. honestly that man pretty much killed himself after he kicked out the only child who actually took care of him. ladies ask not what u can do for machismo but what machismo can do for u

god i wish this new generation of shows had longer seasons. a 6 episode season is nowhere near enough to develop the characters and storylines better (even tho this season the episodes weren't all 30 min like s1 and s2). i was like holy shit things are happening so fast it's one terrible thing after the other but of course they are, they only have like 5 hours to tell the story!!

i'm really fond of this show and how witty it is, its integration of mexican and american and mexican-american cultures, the spanglish, the butch rep!! everything

actually one of my favorite moments this season was when lyn was talking to that european dude at her bf's mom's bday party (fuck her bf and his mom by the way holy shit he was such a weirdo) and she was talking about how difficult it is to be perceived as mexican by gringos while still not being mexican enough for mexicans. when she said she couldn't even hold a conversation in english or spanish i was like u read my mind. i'm literally incoherent. anyway it really resonated with me as an immigrant and i think it's such an important conversation to have!!

anyway emma and lyn repaired their relationship and their bigoted father is rotting in hell and they keep the bar and eddy's back too and everything is going better than ever, they told me so themselves <3

So was no one going to telling me that "Keep Breathing" starring my wife excuse me girlfriend Melissa Barrera was such a good show? Or was I supposed to find a post of her cussing while trying to take a dip in a lake and later watching the whole show in one night?

I feel a fic for the show "Keep Breathing" being created on the horizon after writing my Sam Fic Series mostly likely after because I can't multi task.

I totally recommend watching the show the visuals were really nice and very crisp too like it was some top quality visuals and the coloring in the show too? Beautiful.

Liv could have chosen a lot better of a suitor in the show but hey I like women and that was my hot take on the show.
