I was today years old when I found out Chicken Little got a Wii game.

And I don't mean a game based on the movie.

I mean a game based on the movie WITHIN the movie, the one the characters were watching at the very END of the film as a gag about Hollywood.

As hilarious as that sounds, I must admit. Making a movie game based on a gag from the movie instead of just adapting the movie itself was not only probably the smarter move, but a unique idea on it's own.

This is an example of a licensed game expanding on the source material instead of making a generic downgraded adaptation of it. Even if it's not the greatest game ever, I think more licensed games should take THIS approach.

That's like if there was a Jimmy Neutron game, but instead of it being about Jimmy and his friends, it'd be about Ultra Lord since he's Sheen's favorite TV show. It also even reminds me the time Buzz Lightyear got his own cartoon instead of it being based on Toy Story itself.

2. Lady in the Water, 2006, dir. M. Night Shyamalan

LISTEN. This should have never been marketed as a horror movie. It isn't one. It's a movie about stories and how people intersect in them.

The story is clumsy in a few places, but that's part of the beauty of passing down, and retelling stories--it's never told the same way twice.

Plus, the score is gorgeous (it makes me weepy), the cinematography is excellent, and Bryce Dallas Howard kills it in this role. 😭

The Ritual, 2017, dir. David Bruckner

This movie has SO MANY elements I love to see in a horror movie: beautiful scenery and shots, playing with reality/memory, stunning and/or shocking visuals, an incredible cast, and a creature that demands tribute??? Outstanding.
