All the younger teachers having parental issues and seeing Barb and Melissa as their motherly figures (and work wives happily stepping up to the role) is such an interesting writing choice to me, and makes me want to cry every time I think about it

I’m intrigued to see how the writers are going to tackle the Janine-district storyline now that she’s taking a job there full time.

I’ve always been under the impression/speculated that Janine would go back to Abbott at the end of the season, whether that meant she took a job and then left or just simply left at the end of the fellowship.

And given that in “Panel” we got some really good breadcrumbs of the ultimate “I love teaching” realization (specifically, her looking at the pictures on the desk) and in “Alex” when Alex literally wouldn’t go to school because Janine was not there (when has anyone cared about Janine like that and told her about it? That’s major), I guess I didn’t expect her to take the job so soon.

Now I’m wondering if she would stay with the district past the end of season three (because there’s not enough time to develop a longer storyline/Quinta wants to explore Janine at the district for longer) or if they are going to have a super short arc of Janine being at the district/saying she’s going to take the job and ultimately deciding not to at the end of season three.

I trust the writers and their process, and it’ll be interesting to see what direction they’ll take. Janine is the heart and soul of the show when it comes down to it and I miss our girl at school :(

latest abbott ep was a missed opportunity for melissa and barbara to have a conversation with janine that went like:

melissa: "listen janine, some people just don't like each other. hell, barb and i hated each other's guts when we first met.

barbara: mmhmm.

janine: really? so......you're saying.......even though you didn't like each other at first, you eventually put aside your differences and built a lifelong friendship based on love and respect?

melissa: well. now, okay. hold on a secon–

janine: [already sprinting down the hallway to her classroom]

barbara: she gone.

I find it very odd that there's this like. Rash of people circling the Barbmel fandom like "why do you not ship [canon heterosexual ship]? Why do you not ship [polyamory ship involving a man]?" Um... Of all things to criticize a predominantly lesbian fandom for, "not wanting to write/create sexual or romantic material involving men" seems like the most absurd.

why didn't anyone talk about THIS SCENE during 2x18??? after Barbara mocks Melissa's language and offends her, Melissa subtly points out how "annoyed she was with everyone barbara else"

ava/barb(/melissa) - "Just one more"

"just one more." melissa is trying to get into her kitchen. barbara has arms and a leg wrapped around her doing her best to stop her from getting up. "no, melissa, you are done. It's 10 o'clock. no more coffee, no more work."

at the same time that melissa begins to try and put all her effort into getting away, the front door opens and ava comes in. her hands full of bags with what barbara can only assume is alcohol. before she begin to explain her plans, she catches sight of the interesting entanglement on the couch.

"damn melissa, what did you do?"

"nothing." comes a huffing reply as she tries yet again to get up, grimacing as the action pulls her back. "damn it." barbara angles her head for only ava to see and mouths, "help."

"i just want one more cup of coffee!" she sounds frustrated and exhausted. that's what finally makes ava move. she takes the cup in melissa's hand into the kitchen. for a moment melissa is ecstatic that at least one of her girlfriend's will let her finish this work and barbara is ready to let melissa go and put ava on the couch for the night.

it's only a moment though, because ava quickly walks back out empty handed. melissa groans, something almost sounding like a growl. barbara can't help her whispered, "yes!" ava stands in front of them tapping barbara's legs to move them before sitting in melissa's lap.

"last time i checked you clocked out like 6 hours ago." melissa opens her mouth to retort about how they always work off the clock, but can't before ava continues, "i don't care. i am your boss and i said you're done."

melissa tosses off her glasses in defeat and grumbles while ava leans over her and kisses barbara hello, "thank you."

eventually they find a much better cuddling arrangement upstairs, away from work and coffee and alcohol, in their bed. with barbara holding melissa and ava holding them both.
