Would you say Hibiki has some sort of romantic feelings for Kagura or is infatuated with him? Like how he freaks out every time something bad happens to Kagura during his arcade mode. Plus all of the God imagery that Kagura has in both of their arcades.

I really don’t think Hibiki has any romantic feelings towards Kagura at all.

When Hibiki was revealed as an NPC for CP’s story mode, the article says that he “admires the dark knight” but love is never mentioned, nor is romantic feelings. I mean, they’re related on top of this as well (the Kohaku’s are the Mutsuki’s branch family).

Hibiki wants to feel like an emotionless tool. He’s usually devoid of most emotions to begin with, so feeling love for Kagura would be really out of character. Then it’s explicitly stated by Kagura himself that he’s straight, too, so it just wouldn’t happen.

They’re just best friends. I don’t think either one of them can function without the other. Sure, I know this is a big ship that people in the community really like, but they’re just best friends, and maybe it’s better that way - them being romantically involved would be so out of character that you wouldn’t really be writing them as themselves anymore.For reference, the only confirmed LGBT characters in the series are Shiori Kirihito (lesbian), Mai Natsume (implied bisexual, and trans depending on your view), Makoto Nanaya (bisexual), and Elise von Klagen (lesbian).Meifang Lapislazuli is implied to be lesbian and there’s a joke in Buraji that Azrael is gay.

Variable Heart Chapter 14 Kajun asks Litchi why is Kokonoe here, and Litchi says that Kokonoe doesn't really listen to what she is saying. And Kokonoe herself asks is there any problem with her being here. Houichirou angrily says that of course there is a problem with a traitor like her being here and asks what is it that she is doing. Kajun asks Litchi to explain the situation, but before she could Houichirou attacks Kokonoe.

Kokonoe says that she has come all this way to help his child, so Houichirou should be thankful to her, but Houichirou tells Kokonoe to get lost.

In an airship Mei-fang is told by one of her men that they've got report from Hazama that Mai is in Hazuki's premises, and Mei-fang says that it's just like she thought. She tells her man to continue their surveillance and that they will obtain Mai. Mei-fang then says that she thought that one day Houichirou and Rin would get in her way, and ponders on how to deal with the situation.

About 15 years ago, Lapislazuli was one of the smaller and socially weaker noble family. Mei-fang was seen mostly as a tool by her father to use for in hope of strengthen their status. One day Mei-fang go a little tired by meeting nobles with her father, so she went out to get some air. As Mei-fang sees a garden, she sees a beautiful girl and says it out loud.

The girl hears that and thought Mei-fang meant the garden and said that she also thought it. That she sometimes come her from time to time. The girl asks Mei-fang her name and Mei-fang introduces herself. The girls says that Mei-fang has a good name. But soon a small boy gets between them and threatens Mei-fang and asking who she is.

But the girl punches the boy named Kagura in the head and says that he is being rude to her guest. Kagura tries to find an excuse, but Houichirou comes and punches Kagura in the head also, and carries him away after apologizing to the girl who is the Imperator. After this day, every time Mei-fang visited the HQ of NOL, she had a talk with the Imperator in this garden. And as the years passed, even if it wasn't that long periods Mei-fang learned how much the Imperator thought about her people and how much she wished for peace. But the year Mei-fang entered the military academy, that began, what would later be known as the Ikaruga Civil War. And the final time Mei-fang and the Imperator met, the Imperator said that she made this happen due to being to powerless, and wonder how she could ever make it up for her people. Mei-fang wouldn't be able to see Imperator after that, Kagura told Mei-fang that the Imperator had been moved to a safer place, and of course couldn't a low class noble like her being told to where. Mei-fang's loyalty to the Imperator didn't weaken, rather it grew stronger, and after graduating school she went to Ikaruga in order to help end the war, but then that happen without warning. The destruction of Ibukido. What happened. The imperator doesn't want conflict. Why does conflict occur? Why? Why? WHY? WHY? WHY? Relius comes and asks Mei-fang who she is and why is she alive. He then looks at her and says that she has an interesting soul. In a broken state of mind, Mei-fang that it isn't strange for a devil to be in hell, however she won't give him her soul. Ignis comes and grabs Mei-fang, but she tells them to not touch her. That her meat, blood and soul is the Imperators thing. Relius thinks that Mei-fang is interesting and decides to observe.

Later, a group of people is having a meeting about Ibukido's destruction, and saying they still have Wadatsumi to continue their project. But then the Zeroth squadron lead by Mei-fang bursts in. She sees a member of Sector Seven in here and asks why. One member wearing the NOL uniform says that the member of Sector Seven is wishing to defect to NOL. While another man wearing a suit says that this isn't something the Zeroth Squadron needs to get involved in, but Mei-fang pierces his heart with her hand and tells him to shut up while calling him a traitor. She then tells her men to capture them all. When Meifang is alone in the room, Hazama comes in and says that he didn't expect her to begin to stop the war. Meifang begins to laugh at Hazama, because the war is already over, what Mei-fang is doing is cleaning up for the Imperator and the orders sake. That she is creating a world where conflict won't ever happen again.

Back to the present again with Mai, Kokonoe gives Mai to options, either she stays and gets protected by her stubborn father, or she cooperates with Kokonoe and get hold of her own future.
