Summary:

Draco Malfoy had been a picture-perfect, pure-blood wizard. Never stepping out of line, Draco had his whole life practically planned out for him. However, during the final parts of his third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Draco Malfoy had made a daunting discovery. Something was definitely wrong with him. It was on his fourteenth birthday that Draco had the first of many prophetic visions. Tents up in flames, a goblet, a dragon, a body of water, and more… In the event of a budding war, Draco Malfoy’s newfound psychic abilities interfere with his already increasingly complicated life. Navigating growing pains, family disputes, romance and war, Malfoy discovers who he is.

Excerpt:

        Harry found Cormac and Draco sneaking out of the portrait. A jolt of anger sent him into a desperate dash to catch up with him. 

     "Draco!" Harry called and the boy turned to him. He smiled and blushed, clearly tipsy. "Can I have a moment?"

   "Go on, McLaggen," Draco stumbled towards Harry. Cormac shot a dirty look at Harry and marched down the dark corridors alone. "Are you not having a good time?"

     "I-I am, I was just wondering where you were going?" Harry whispered and stepped closer to Draco. 

     "Cormac told me he had a gift for me at the Gryffindor tower so I was just going to go see what it was," Draco smiled innocently.

    "Oh..." The fury inside Harry was becoming hard to contain. "Well, maybe he can bring it to you here..."

    "Perhaps," Draco looked solemnly down the corridor. "Then I suppose I can wait here."

    "You did very well today, Draco," whispered Harry. Draco blushed and rolled his eyes. "Really, may the better Seeker win."

    "Even if the other seeker is your girlfriend?" Draco asked quietly. They were standing so close together. Harry wasn't sure why but he felt a strange sort of nervousness he'd never felt before. Draco's grey eyes, reflecting the silver moonlight coming from the archways, looked into his own. 

   "Especially when the other seeker is my girlfriend..." Harry whispered and mindlessly put his hand on Draco's sharp jaw, tracing the boy's lips with his thumb. Without thinking, Harry closed the gap between them and kissed him. There was a burst of warmth within him and it engulfed him, filling him him with a foreign mix of both thrill and safety. Draco's lips were so soft and inexperienced but Harry couldn't deny that this had felt better than any kiss with Cho. He felt weightless, it felt as if they were the only two people in the castle. Draco’s lips were addicting and seemed to have bewitched him to try and prolong the kiss as much as possible. 

   Finally, Harry pulled away and looked at Draco's face still close to his. The boy had looked as awestruck as Harry felt. "P-Pansy says that people kiss in France..."

    "They do..." Draco whispered and brushed his fingers over his lips in awe. 

    "I-I meant to be polite and such..." Harry panicked. The guilt of kissing Draco was one thing but the guilt of enjoying it as much as he did was a whole other beast. 

    "To be p-polite? Y-you just stole my first kiss..." Draco recoiled.

   Harry laughed. "You're kidding, that wasn't your first kiss was it? I mean you're no expert but-"

   "I hate you, Potter," Draco ran back into the Slytherin common room and Harry could have sworn he saw tears in the boy's eyes. 

     Hermione lunged out of the portrait with Pansy, clearly ready to attack someone. They had their wands out and wore vengeance on their face. Once they saw him, the put away their wands.

   "What happened?" Hermione asked with concern. 

   "I kissed him..." Harry admitted. Pansy gasped so intensely that she choked and coughed violently. 

    "Why would you do such thing?" Hermione grabbed Harry's shoulders.

    "Dunno, I just felt like it. I-I shouldn't have..." Harry muttered. "I told him I was just trying to be polite and-"

   "You said what?!" Pansy and Hermione screamed in sync. 

    "Pansy you said that- doesn't matter. I screwed up... that was his first kiss and I-I said I was just trying to be polite..."

   "His first kiss? Oh Harry! What have you done!" Hermione covered her mouth in shock. 

    "How was it though...?" Pansy asked in a quiet voice, earning herself a dangerous look from Hermione.

      "Great," he admitted. "It was perfect," Harry mumbled quietly. 

    "I recommend you go back to Gryffindor tower, Harry. That was an awful thing to do to both Draco and Cho," Hermione told him.

Summary:

“The black veil signifies membership in a strict pure-blood family,” Hermione began. “These families preach dark magic and the superiority of pure-blood wizards. And the veils are worn solely by women and children under seventeen to conceal their excellence from muggles and muggle-borns. There aren’t many of them today, but they’re there.”

Draco Malfoy, a transfer student from the closed down dark magic school in London, creates a stir at Hogwarts as rumors spread about his notorious abilities to wield dark magic. To ostracize himself further, Draco must wear a black veil to conform to his family’s pure-blood beliefs and duties as a Veiled Wizard.

Harry must unravel the mystery of this enigmatic fifth year student, for he believes the future of peace depends on it. Along the way, Draco is forced to confront his own beliefs about society, morality, and love.

Why I recommend them:

Firstly, in the case of Viria, I don't really feel the need to say anything too elaborate. Read those 3 comics yourself and I promise, you will understand. The art is stunning, the voices of each character are so distinct, and I have never wanted a full-length web comic from anyone more than I do Viria. The plot line is relatively undefined, but basically, Harry and Draco are roommates at Grimmauld Place. They are learning to navigate this arrangement without stepping on each other's toes too much, but nothing between the two of them has ever been simple.

The second part is my favourite one because a) Ginny is an absolute rocket and I am so obsessed with her, and b) Draco's accidental not-confession to Hermione, who is too perceptive for her own good, makes me want to scream.

As for The Veiled Boy - man, the amount of things I could say about this WIP.

Before I get into the fic, may I just reiterate how in love I am with Salmon's drarry art? Their comics are so incredibly fun, and I will never not immediately race to their blog when I see a new upload. Now that that's clear, I also need to stress how unfair it is that Salmon is both a talented artist and author, but the world is so much more beautiful for it.

The premise of the fic is so unique and intriguing. Draco Malfoy is one of a vanishing breed: a veiled wizard. In traditional pureblood society, women and children under 17 must wear a veil to conceal their excellence from muggles and muggle-borns. This story picks up in Harry's canon-adjacent 5th year when Draco transfers to Hogwarts. Art accompanies almost every single chapter, and it is, without fail, spectacular.

Do be warned that cults and cult ideology feature heavily in this one, but as someone who took a class on cults in uni, it's kinda right up my alley. Reading this very eccentric, conservative Draco and ever-devoted Harry slowly and uncertainly falling in love and fighting for each other relentlessly scratches that constant angsty drarry itch in my soul. Draco, beginning to unlearn and even subvert the indoctrination he's been subjected to all of his life, speaks to me on a level of religious trauma that I only recently discovered I had.

I'm really looking forward to finishing this fic, I cannot wait to see how the story wraps up.

No circuitous plays,” declared Malfoy. “I’ll start: The Whispering Marsh.” “Bold opening manoeuvre,” said Fred. “But we see your bald-faced attempt at the Mopsus Gambit, and we won’t stand for it. The Labyrinthine Caves.” “Oh, putting pressure on the lateral,” remarked Sirius, through a bite of his bun. “Everdark Vale it is, then.” “The Misty Isles,” said Ginny quickly. “The Opal Mines!” shouted Regulus, and then cleared his throat. “Sorry. Got excited there.” “Why?” asked George, narrowing his eyes. “Seems like you’re a bit too familiar with this play, Reg.” “We’d better dodge that,” added Ron. “The Silver Isle.” The other half of the table groaned. “See, this is what happens when you blunder the Opal Mines six moves in,” rebuked Lord Malfoy, much to Ron’s surprise. “The Blood Moors it is.” Ron Weasley meditates on possessions and friendships. The second Weasley-Malfoy Games Showdown is held.
