The Legend Of The Bisterne Dragon, just one of England’s many dragon-centric folktales, has been recounted since the early 17th century—though it likely dates back even earlier.
According to the tale, a massive dragon terrorized the hamlet of Bisterne until one valiant knight, Sir Maurice de Berkeley, offered to help. In the hopes of slaying the dragon, the knight hid with his hounds, waiting to attack the creature when it crept out to steal its daily dose of milk. Upon being ambushed, the dragon fled—the knight and his hounds following in hot pursuit. They finally defeated the Bisterne Dragon outside the village of Lyndhurst, where the beast toppled to its death, forming the knoll now known as Bolton’s Bench. It was said that on the knight's return some months later he collapsed and died on the knoll, and a yew tree grew on the same spot and remains on the top of the hill today.

Waking Dangers for Sleeping Beauties
Sleeping Beauty in Folklore and Books The poll to vote for the next tale is at the bottom of this post! I quite like Sleeping Beauty as a story, I’ve got to be honest. I included it in The Crows as a motif/theme, with the house and then Carrie as Sleeping Beauty figures, but Ricky is fortunately asexual and sex-averse, and decidedly not a prince. If you know about the older versions of this…

Dogs at the story of patient Grizelda, the unpleasant medieval tale from The Decameron of a husband that demands unquestioning obedience from his wife, a peasant girl, so that she has to endure public humiliation, the apparent murder of her children, her exile from her husband’s house in disgrace and then she is re-called to the marital house to arrange a marriage for his new bride.
Dogs were often seen as symbols of marital loyalty and appear on all the panels.
This tale ends “happily” in that she is restored to her place as a wife and her children returned to her but now grown up. Her patience is rewarded. It’s not a tale that anyone would hold up as a moral one now. Grizelda appears in Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls as one of the female types from history
The story is told in a series of three paintings in The National Gallery, London by The Master Of The Story of Grizelda.

Ser Jaime Lannister, Game of Thrones (2011-2019) Portrayed by: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
“Okay, yes, he is an asshole who fucks his sister and pushes children out of windows, but we can fix him! Deep down he's just a lost little meow meow who doesn't know anything but fighting and family. But the more he's exposed to the outside world, the more he sees the error of his ways and tries to do better. And what's hotter than a redemption arc?”
Wat, A Knight’s Tale (2001) Portrayed by:

For Jaime Lannister:

“In the books, both Brienne and Catelyn saw him emaciated and covered in his own filth and they thought "he could still get it". I think Nikolaj Coster-Waldau really lives up to that reputation.”

“Let's be real he's probably not into you, but doesn't that just add to the charm?”
