Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom, there was a magical tavern. Cheerful music always rose from the walls of this tavern. The most beautiful melodies of the Middle Ages, combined with the fascinating rhythms of Celtic Fantasy, warmed people's hearts. Among the regulars of the tavern were knights, nobles and commoners. All of them were enchanted by the music and danced until the late hours of the night. One night, a traveler at the tavern discovered the power of music. He danced, sang and spent time in joy all night long. In the morning the traveler left the tavern, but the magic of the music went with him. From that day on, the traveler traveled the world and everywhere spoke of the power of music. As people listened to his story, they were fascinated by Medieval Tavern Music and Celtic Fantasy. The Banshee/Beansidhe: . It is the duty of the banshee or 'woman of the fairies' to foretell the death of an individual. Banshees are attached to particular families and their cry us only heard when a family member is about to die. Banshees are reported either to be young women of mournful aspect, or else to take the form of womanly creatures or hags. With eyes glazed white or red from weeping, she continually combs her hair with a gold or silver comb. The cries of the banshee are echoed by professional mourners or keeners 'bhean chaointe' who were engaged to maintain high piercing cries and moans or 'ochone' at a funeral wake. The very first being to set up a keening cry was the Irish goddess, Brighid, one of the Tuatha de Danaan; she wailed for the death of her only son, Rúadán, and that was the first keening ever heard in Ireland. I woke up at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep. So I drew a pixie in a rose patch. I used 3 colors of ink, just regular ink, and put the shadows in with pencil. The pixie is a celtic creature particular to Devon, Somerset, and Cornwall in Southern England. Though pixies and faeries seem to have much in common, and are often viewed as interchangeable, they are two distinct species. In folklore pixies and fairies are antagonists and fought a huge battle at Buckland St. Mary, Somerset. The pixies were victorious and still visit the area. The fairies are said to have left after their loss. Some adherents find pixies to have a human origin or to “partake of human nature” in distinction to fairies whose mythology is traced to immaterial spirit forces. Pixies are said to be nearly ageless and uncommonly beautiful, though there are some called pixie who have a distorted and strange appearance. There is a debate as to whether or not pixies have wings. In fact, legend has it that pixies generally go unclothed, though they are sensitive to human need for covering. They do have a weakness for bits of finery, and a piece of ribbon appears to be highly prized by them. In Devon, pixies are said to be “invisibly small, and harmless or friendly to man.” Others say they are no larger than a human hand but can change their size at will. In yet other legends and accounts they are presented as having near human stature. There are as many discrepancies as to the origin of pixies, as there are conflicting descriptions of them. Some believe them to be the earliest inhabitants of England. I've been tending a little sapling that finally rooted this year. Sprouting beautiful lush green leaves. 🌿 Sadly she hadn't flowered or fruited yet. But I believe she must be looking out for me. 🌿 Yesterday and today a beautiful lush Rowan was presented to me and I was able to harvest the berries.
