Update: A New Crowned

🍹: Normally I don’t really care about coronations but I was allowed to sell potions and herbs this time around, so excited!

stumbled across her content two days ago, started setting up my four day gameplan and writing my script for mechat yesterday. now, most of my script is done, I had a dream about my DR last night, and could FEEL my third eye opening during one of her guided meditations tonight??? yall.

hey, do you have any idea why mechat fandom on tumblr is small? the game is fun and from the likes on the matches, I'm sure many like it 🤔

Hello fellow fan! Thank you for dropping in my inbox!

I started playing MeChat about 6 months after it launched on Android in January 2021. So the MeChat fandom is small not just on Tumblr but in other platforms as well.

From what I gathered from early threads in the r/MeChat subreddit, the game was a complete rip-off of its more successful cousin LoveLink (which was launched about 4-5 months earlier).

It had the same interface and color schemes. The matches' profile pictures were apparently traced from actual photos (for instance, Layla Fischer was seemingly traced over a photo of Belle Delphine).

Heck, even Lucas Pike's dog tags were lifted from LoveLink's Jonathan Hayes whose name was on Lucas' dog tags 😂

The stories were also badly translated into English from foreign languages (I do not know what language they were initially written in.) And the chats were littered with typos and grammar mistakes, when they do not seem to be written by amateur but enthusiastic fanfic writers without an experienced editor to help polish the stories. Some of the tropes and story plot points were also questionable and stirred strong emotions.

So the game was quite cringe-worthy at its launch.

But it went through an overhaul or a makeover when it updated to version 2.0.0. I think I started playing right then, when it was version 2.1.0 or so.

Profiles pictures were redrawn and native English speaking writers were being commissioned for the stories.

And then at some point, MeChat tested the waters with the release of Enzo Gomez profile as an unavailable match! Reactions were mostly negative at first but it also got the attention of players who were either curious or enthused about a potentially furry match. I think MeChat grew more confident in its art and characters concept design after seeing the positive reception on the subreddit (oh yeah, the team lurks on the sub!).

When I joined r/MeChat on Reddit in July 2021, I think there was around 2K members or less than that and now it grew to close to 9K. In comparison, LoveLink subreddit has now 13.4K members.

The company behind MeChat also implemented some questionable business/in-game practices in order to maximize purchases by players. For instance, non-gem choices are awful at times making players spending their gems on nicer choices (thus raising the chance that they purchase gems packs). Paid exclusive matches also rely on people's fear of missing out, which entices them to end up paying if the hold is really strong. VIP Subscription doesn't give any real benefits!

And let's not get started with the ads... 🙈😂

In spite of all of these, personally, I love MeChat, it's kind of an underdog I want to root for. With my friends, I call MeChat a trainwreck, but it's OUR trainwreck 😄

Jooheon’s Update

The Stars are Falling

Jooheon whistled as he started cleaning up the tattoo parlor. He cleaned off his tattooing gun and made sure the inks were in their respected places. As he got out he slung a jacket over himself and he went to his motercycle. Today was a bit of a rush day, very stressing for the man but he finally got to calm down and go to his beloved Astronomy tower. He parked his bike out front and took off his helmet. He took out the keys to the tower and went up the spiral staircase that led to the most beautiful telescope. The room was full of boards with buttons and keyholes, no one was allowed to touch other than him, some workers and the god Astronomer when in his “human” form. He sat back with a sigh as he happily started to move the telescope to where he wanted to look through along with typing anything off that he sees in the sky. This was his favorite job to do and wished he was need everyday to do it. 

As he moved around he furrowed his brows. There was a lot less stars in the sky. A full sky of stars was scheduled for the next two weeks so this was strange. “Where are they...” He mumbled as he moved the telescope around and then it landed on some trees. They were in the trees. “Shit!” He groaned as he ran out with a pail. He went out with another sigh as he held out his hand, some of the stars dissolved and the sparkles flew into his hand as he let it pool into the bucket in his hand. From afar you could see the lovely glows of the stars and the spirals of the star dust. He moved around and collected all the stars and then went back inside and sat infront of a different machine. He dipped his fingers in the stardust and started drawing stars and them appearing on the sky. While he did that he turned a nob that kept them at the right degree and angle so they don’t fall again. “This is going to be a long night...”

Blood moon event

In this, all the monsters get more aggressive and sassy. The vampires, werewolves, and ghosts are more heavily affected than the others. This event will last about a week or two.

Hongjoong was struck by lightning, so he is a lot more energized and hyper than normal.

Yeonjun may try to bite someone even though he is vegan.

Taehyung is more crabby than usual. He may try to bite someone's head off.

Hyunjin isn't affected much. He is just a tad bit more bossy.

Chan is getting dried out a little quicker. His attitude hasn't been changed.

Jaemin is more sensitive to any type of heat.

Jooheon is much more tired. He may take more naps.

Taeyong's snakes are heavily affected by this but he himself is fine. The snakes are angry and will attack everything.

Jaehyun is very clingy and emotional. He needs constant attention or he will cry or throw tantrums.

Rocky is a lot more hungry than normal. He needs to feed multiple times a day. He also is extremely aggressive, I don't recommend going near him.

Jackson is prone to get hurt more easily. Any small wound could seriously hurt him during this time.

Chaewon has lost control of her powers. She may randomly possess items, people, and other monsters.
