Hey guys... So like. Did we know that before Thom Pike was a tour manager, he was a drummer in a band (Falling With Style) with 3/4 guys who would later become Holding Absence? Is this common knowledge, or have I stumbled upon gold?

I knew about Sam Hallett being in Blood Youth before working as a tech, and Thom working with them on tour, and I also did know Thom and the HA guys went way back*. But this I didn't know!! How cool!!

* Adamross and the rest of Glass Heart was also already working with him at this time btw. The connections are connecting.

Referring back to that recent post from @sleepanonymous, I am now wondering if George Lever also produced their stuff from before, given he has worked on both early Holding Absence and Sleep Token, and if that's how they all met 👀

(more ramblings bellow the cut, nothing interesting just me being insane. also i just think it's cool how all of these bands and people are connected. nothing more)

So. Timeline of events that I know of:

2015 - Falling With Style ends

2016 - Thom is now a Tour Guy ; Sleep Token and Holding Absence are born ; George Lever is producing for both bands

(and then there's that Carl Bown/B4MV thing somewhere around here)

2018 - Thom has been working as Tour Manager for Holding Absence and Blood Youth ; Adam and the (would-be) Glasses are part of his crew ; Sleep Token is touring with HA and Loathe (also G. Lever prod.) as an opening band ; enter Espera (🥹🥰💕😚💘🤭 this has nothing to with the post but I just like to think about them)

2019 - Thom is officially managing ST (probably 2018 too? idk about before) ; Glass Heart is born (again not entirely relevant but I stay on my GH propaganda always. Adam say thank you baby 💎🩵)

Then we have those collabs etc etc ; Sam leaves the band and becomes a Tech guy ; FTRB ; George stops producing (🥺🥲) ; enter Carl Bown ; ENTERS COOL MF VESSEL THE FOURTH (our ivy)

January 2023 - Sam Hallett joins the fold (🥹💙) ; the first singles of TMBE are released ; World Domination etc etc

"but spacie, i have no followers why should i reblog things" let me answer this question using myself, a person who has been using tumblr for almost a decade now, as an example. pre 2022 the most followers i ever had was like 125. most of them were dead blogs. killed in the porn ban or just people who had left for whatever reason. out of the people left who were still active, i had like 3 people at the most interact with my blog on a monthly basis. for years b4 this, i had ZERO FOLLOWERS but upon making my blog i saw all the other ppl who had been using this website longer than me talking abt how important it was ta reblog shit, and throughout all these years on tumblr, even when i had no followers i reblogged things. b/c i understood that it was integral ta the way this site functions.

now mind you, just b/c i had no followers didn't mean ppl wouldn't stop by and reblog things from my blog. every couple months id have a new person find me and reblog something. maybe they'd reblog a lot of stuff! the point is that id go months without any interaction at times and i STILL reblogged things because i knew people could find me and see something they liked on here. eventually people who frequently checked my blog ta see what i would reblog followed me!! im sure there’s ppl who dont follow me that ta this day who still reblog the stuff on here!! the point is that it genuinely doesnt matter how many followers you have. sure, it certainly helps, but ppl can still find and interact with the things on your blog without you having thousands or even hundreds of followers. so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reblog things.

je reblog souvent les avatars, rp prompts etc. que j'apprécie ou qui m'inspirent et c'est bête mais quand je vois après dans mon activité d'autres gens liker/rb ces billets, je me dit que c'est super d'avoir amené tout ça dans leur feed, et que ça peut potentiellement faire découvrir des créateurices, des univers, des fandoms à d'autres personnes! c'est à ça que servent les reblogs, les likes ne boostent pas les billets et n'aident pas vraiment les créateurices sous-côté.e.s à se faire connaître! ce sont les reblogs qui font la différence!

si vous avez peur de reblogger quelque chose parce que vous pensez que ça fera hors-sujet avec le thème de votre blog, sachez que vous pouvez faire autant de sideblogs (blogs secondaires) sur tumblr que vous le souhaitez sans nécessité de créer un nouveau compte. c'est quand même bien fait ✨

we talk a fair game about hating AI on here but there's that one extremely obvious AI made reylo fanart that keeps floating around from time to time and a lot of people have fallen for it and reblogged it and the person behind the account makes a ton of other AI art using disney characters and i try not to get annoyed about it because at first glance it's kind of convincing if you don't know what to look for but i think as a whole we need to get better about recognizing AI art if we're saying we're not going to support it. idk. t

As artists, we keep complaining about apps and websites with algorithms that hide our art and people just don't see it (but we see ads out the wazoo).

But what about tumblr? probably the only site out there that still shows things chronologically and lets the user see what they want? Amazing right? well it's fucking not!

These are the notes of some of my gifsets and fanart I've posted (for popular fandoms btw, mostly Good Omens). Look at the difference between likes and reblogs

And you need to take into account that at least 8 of those reblogs are my own, as I try to get the thing that took me hours to be seen! And sometimes multiple reblogs from the same kind friend who also helps me out.

You see? It's not the algorithms that are discouraging artists. It's you guys too! I'm not making this post to be rude or demand attention, my point is. You want gorgeous art of your favorite charactes? Amazing fanfics that keep you up at night? Gifs of every scene? Meta posts that discuss every detail of your fave tv show? all of that for free? Then do something!

Help artists out, likes are nice, sure but they don't mean anything. Reblogs mean you saw something and got so excited you had to share it with your friends. Reblogs mean "hey dude, I see this took you days to make, I love it and I want other people to enjoy it as well"

This is so discouraging, and it has stopped people from making art and participating in the thing that makes fandoms so special. It's sad :/
