Hey, just found your blog, let’s just say I absolutely LOVE your AU. Like I recently started watching Hermitcraft(recently as in when Season 10 started) and in the past year my PJO hyperfixation has re-emerged, so it’s really cool to see such a great artist drawing them together.

Also, what do you think Impulse and Skizz would be like in this AU? (I can kinda see Impulse as a Haphaestus kid but I’m not 100% sure in that)

At first, I also really wanted to put Impulse in Hephaestus cabin, but if I put every redstoner in the Hephaestus cabin, that wouldn't be creative, would it?

So we have this:

I thought putting Impulse in Hermes cabin would be perfect, for me at least. I don't watch him often, but I do mainly know him as the hermit that often dabbled in villagers and trades.

And you know which god is the god of merchants and commerce? Hermes. I wanted a Hermes kid that actually focused on those parts of Hermes.

And uh, I guess I just really like how hc10 impulse built a lot of 'markets' and 'shops' for his city lol

I also wanted to put Impulse in Hermes because (selfishly) I really liked Impulse and Grian's duo, how Grian would basically call him... 'dad' (during Phasmophobia games, at least lol).

I wanted their familial bond to make sense somehow, so I made them half-sibilngs under Hermes.

As for Skizz, I put him in Apollo because I did hear that he used to do drumming before. He apparently also did gymnastics?? (slay it, king)

And, as far as I know at least, Apollo kids were known for being good at physical contests. I thought gymnastics would count there.

I also thought Skizz's personality would also fit with the Apollo kids :)

Otherwise, I would've put Skizz under Dionysus cabin as well, but I liked the thought of Skizz being under Apollo more.

Impulse was meant to be the cabin counsellor for Hermes, but as he neared the age where he'd have to focus on his personal business outside of camp, he willingly stepped down to let Grian be the counsellor.

Please write the damen thesis

I fucking love a good Captive Prince meta and as you didn’t give me any direction or specific topic that you wanted to see I’m just going to have a play around with the narrative themes and Damen's arc, so here’s a 3k late night caffeine induced ramble about Damen that might not be 100% coherent:

Damen and the Sword of Damocles or: The Burden of Duty.

In the legend Damocles made the mistake of commenting about the apparent happiness of the tyrant king Dionysus. Dionysus who, in actuality, is terrible and a big fat emo, figured he’d invite Damocles to dinner where Damocles was pampered, spoilt, and treated to a good time. However, Dionysus had hung a big ass sword over Damocles, hanging by a single hair and it could fall at any moment. Once Damocles noticed, he realised he couldn’t enjoy any of the dinner any more or any of the amazing things happening to him and around him.

The sword of Damocles has come to mean imminent danger. In the legend it was a symbol of the price of power. Power is a burden and as long as you have it you must constantly be vigilante, no desire or earthly pleasure will come without the knowledge that at any moment it can disappear, it might even mean very little because of it. Almost as if the ultimate price of power is the sacrifice of the things you might want.

And therein lies the central themes of Captive Prince: power, and duty vs desire.

Damen, much like Damocles in the beginning of his tale with Dionysus, was completely blind to the danger that was hanging over him. Damen didn’t so much notice the sword hanging over him as Jokaste pointed a big neon flashing sign at it in all its horrendous glory.

Damen is, for the first time, confronted by the idea that power is not a stable or steady notion. Or state of being. And he had, until this point, taken it for granted. Blind to the reality of what it meant and the sword hanging over him.

That’s not to say I think Damen is completely naïve. He knows power has costs, but his own specific psychology allows it be far away, it just is what it is for him. Something he just has to do and so locks it away. It’s the battle at Marlas: a job to be done. It’s being separate from others both personally and professionally (separate from his men, separated from Nikandros and not being able to serve at the Kings Meet, no close connections etc), it’s having to be perfect (clearly extensively trained and educated) and working hard and duty above all. But the threat?

The throne lies in the shadow of the gallows and Damen is for the first time recognising how precarious power is, how poisonous, how close the threat can fester.

Damen’s entire journey from then on, he is in a continued state of fight or flight, and that sword hanging over him does not get any lighter or any less perilous. (I could likewise talk about Damen and Laurent’s super interesting fight or flight reactions but that is a topic for another time lmao)

Damen’s journey, and his arc throughout the trilogy, can be stripped back to the notion of power and his attempt to regain his own. It’s loss, it’s meaning, how he defines himself and the world and what he understands of it: all of these relate to Damen’s understanding of, and struggle with, his own power. In its most basic form Damen loses his crown and his journey is about retaking it. The crown, we know, is the ultimate symbol of power. It’s all very blatant. Especially when coupled together with power in its most physical sense as one of Damen’s most frequented attributes from scene to scene. Damen is powerful, strong, and wilful, people listen to him, he has an unshakeable determination and has a pretty astounding effect on those around him even when he is unaware of it. Damen, we are told, is a King. Not just by birthright but in action. He has all the makings and markings of a leader. Because of this Damen always has some sense of power.

We see it over and over in a myriad of different scenes: Damen’s true sense of power is innate to himself and his abilities. Especially with a sword in hand. Damen is all wrapped up quite obviously in the theme.

However, though Damen’s journey to regain his power is the main focus of the narrative, it’s not his arc. Damen’s real journey, his internal struggle, is all about his identity.

Again, at its most basic, it seems heavy handed to say so: Damen spends the mass majority of the books hiding his identity after all, so of course it’s a theme, of course his slow decisive fight for his own power walks hand in hand with clawing back his identity. However, as we know, by the end of the trilogy we are very much aware that Damen’s identity journey was never about the crown. It was never about coming clean or using his real name and title. It was never about the unveiling of himself to all of those around him to be known. It was about discovering himself. Damen the man and not Damianos the prince.

And this dichotomy sets the stage for the real journey of Captive Prince: duty vs desire.

Damianos of Akielos: the rightful king, the son and heir, The Noble Man. He is the consummate Crown Prince, a military commander, an astute -almost legendary- warrior. The Perfect Son. The man who cares what people see of him, who is bound by tradition and expectation. The face of power and duty.

Damen the man: gives no fucks what people see of him, desperate for affection but afraid to ask for it, lost and full of doubt, empty no matter how he indulges himself. Almost self destructive and negligent with his own safety as if he has something to prove, as if he’s always striving for something, mad at his father, confused by his brother, indulgent of his own wants without thought because it’s easier than questioning. His dead mother’s son, his father’s hope. Compassionate and protective and innately aware of other peoples vulnerability. This is his internal face, the man and not the crown. Full of desire and emotionally broken.

Damen has, for a long time, kept himself at arms-length. Nikandros is his only real friendship, his tragic family life is nothing but duty and trauma. His love life is full of sex and no emotional intimacy. He never, not once, considered Jokaste as anything but his mistress. It wasn’t Jokaste that broke his heart, it was Kastor. She is explicitly his mistress; someone he is intimate with only during sex. She’s not his future and she knows this. She will never be Damen’s queen; it never even crosses his mind.

I assume Damen, like most princes, thought he’d marry for duty. A political marriage that would ultimately not be his choice, so why bother getting close?

This is where the masculine culture of Akielos would come into play and we could spend hours here playing around with the heteronormative aspects of both Akielos and Vere (normalised queer sexual relationships aside there are deep underlying mentalities here surrounding the themes of submission and masculinity and what is Acceptable. I liken it to Rome in this respect: totally cool to stick your dick wherever if you are a citizen, not so cool to take a dick unless you are in a category Roman's viewed as inferior, but that's an entire essay unto it self). This is yet one more place wherein Damen struggles and where his wants don't necessarily align with the expectation of him. Bottom line: Damen doesn't really personally give a shit, but Damianos does. And we see this by the Akielon (Nikandros and Makedon) reaction to Damen's cuffs, scars and circumstance and how Damen reacts to these things both as his own person, and as a man who knows how Akielos will perceive it.

Segregation, compartmentalisation, and separation. These three are the main components of Damen’s trauma manifesting in his personality. I could talk about his psychology, his trauma, how and why this happened. But that is a different discussion for a different day. Right now, all we need to be aware of is that Damen does this in every single aspect of his being and within the narrative.

He does it with sex (separating the physical and the emotional), his trauma (stowing it away and dismissing it instead of feeling it, as if acknowledging and feeling were one and the same), with politics (slavery, Akielos vs Vere), with his father (the king vs the man), with his brother (the resentment he is aware of vs the desperate want of his brother), what he thinks he needs vs what he wants.

Damen never sees himself as a slave. Never not once, does he doubt himself in this regard. He doesn’t feel it. He doesn’t allow himself to feel it. Not truly, there is never a breakdown, never a moment in the first two books where this terrible tragic traumatic thing gets the better of him.

This is because Damen has always split himself in half this way. We see it again and again, explicitly, and implicitly, Damen is a man of two faces.

Damianos the Crown and Damen the man. This is how he keeps himself so separate from the shackles he finds himself in. Because it’s not him, not really, and only someone used to compartmentalising aspects of themselves could do what Damen does in Vere as easily as he does.

It is no surprise that the real meeting of those two faces is what causes Damen to (finally) spiral. Not well, of course, Damen’s too controlled to spiral fully, but Damen only loses his shit a handful of times in all 3 books (and considering his chronic fight or flight is popping the fuck off it's actually super impressive but I digress).

I’m talking the out-of-control kind of loses his shit, and almost all of them are for Laurent. These are: the kidnappers in Vask when they lay suggestive hands on Laurent and Damen reacts to Laurent’s innate sense of vulnerability in this regard, it’s not jealousy, it’s because Damen is, at heart, a protector.

The Kings Meet, where Damen’s rage for Laurent sees him absolutely lose it at one of his Kingdoms most sacred places. Again, it’s not jealousy, it’s not even something he digests because fundamentally Damen already knew. He just hadn’t confronted it, allowed himself to think of it, so when it’s spelled out for him he doesn’t question, he just reacts. With rage. For Laurent.

There are only 2 other times Damen really loses it on page where it comes out as pure Viking Berserker rage: Charcy and with Makedon. Both of these times he has been pushed to the end of his emotional tether and he snaps.

Which is odd for Damen, who has so much control. It’s no surprise these things occur after the clash of his two faces when Nikandros and an Akielon army kneels for him at Ravenel. Charcy, where the man in love is determined and worried and willing to hope for Laurent. Where the Rightful King is very fucking aware that he should be heading south and this battle is not tactically something he needs to do or even that he should do and that his men are certainly not on board with.

Makedon, we know, is a target for Damen’s rage because he is there. But he’s not really attacking Makedon, it’s everything, the accumulation of hit after hit that breaks because, again, Damen is at the absolute end of his emotional tether. With Laurent, with Kastor, with Jokaste, with his position, with the future opening up before him where he knows he can’t win the way he wants. Because at that point, his real wants are impossible. And the prospect opening up before him is cold and empty and a crown he should never have had to fight for, against a man he loves even now despite everything. Abusers, we know, are good at getting that response from their victims.

If Damen had had those two aspects of himself confronted before he fell in love with Laurent then nothing would have changed. He could have walked away safe and sound and kept his world view and his deeply unhealthy coping mechanisms entirely intact.

But that’s not what happens. Damianos the Crown and Damen the man can no longer hide from each other by the time reality comes calling at Ravenel.

Because he does fall for Laurent and he recognises that it is directly in conflict with his mission, with his duty and his crown. Damen’s narrative journey to regain his own power is tied explicitly and irrevocably to his identity struggle and his love story. His love for Laurent is the trigger that bursts the dam in his head and he sees himself, finally, as a man split in half. Is forced to confront the dissonance within himself as Laurent’s lover and as his own man.

In the end of the legend Damocles decided he would never want to trade places with the King, realising that power was, in fact, a burden, and he would rather enjoy his life.

But Damen is the King. Unlike Damocles he already has power. His struggle then, is not only about recognising the burden that comes with power, but reconciling his world view to include the sword he had been fortunate enough to never really notice.

It becomes a struggle between the opposing wants within Damen: duty and power vs love and desire and how to reconcile them.

In other words: A kingdom, or this?

Damen, like Damocles, learns his lesson. Hard and fast but it takes a while for him to frame that in his reality. More importantly, to frame Laurent in that reality.

Because Laurent is not blind to that sword. He has been painfully aware of that sword for a long time. His though, his less of a burden and more of a threat, he lets the sword hang or he dies. There is no alternative for Laurent.

Laurent’s struggle, similar and yet so contrasting to Damen, is that he has ignored the feast entirely. He indulged once, saw the sword and concentrated on nothing else from then on. Laurent’s reconciliation between duty and desire is not the same as Damen’s, in fact it is much more blatant. He doesn’t let himself feel desire but for life (power) to mean anything he has to let it in eventually or else it’s empty. Nothing but the constant anxious vigilance of waiting for danger and despair.

It's no life.

A kingdom or this then, duty vs love, becomes a motif for Damen reconciling the parts of himself that are newly discovered to him with the man his father, Nikandros, Akielos, wants or needs him to be. To Damen, duty and his fight for the crown is Damianos the prince. It’s his birth right, it’s who he is, who he was raised to be and Akielos is his home. His everything. Except Damen, the man, knows that it’s empty, that being perfect meant nothing in the end and as a man, he wants love. Would throw everything else away for it.

Reconciling those two opposing but equally as devastatingly consuming wants becomes the focal point of King’s Rising.

The merging, of course, narratively, comes at Ravenel. When Damen watches Nikandros and his men go to their knees for Damianos. The internal merging however, the reconciliation, comes at Karthas. With Laurent, when he uses, for the first time, both of Damen’s names in bed. That is the moment we see Damen stitch himself together, realign himself, a camera coming into focus. Damianos the King, the representation of duty, meeting Damen the man and the representation of desire. Quite literally, coming together.

We know this is the moment for Laurent too, for vastly different reasons, but Laurent makes his choices here too. He already knows what he’s going to do here, and so does Damen. The choice has been made, the stage is set, the final ball is in motion.

The readers are, of course, rooting for both. For Damen to win his crown and keep Laurent. We know there will be a choice now and when it does finally come to that choice Damen and Laurent are on the same page and make the same choices. Winning their crowns was a happy accident. Because they both choose this.

Laurent gave himself up for Damen without hesitation. He chose love. Damen throws himself on the mercy of the court knowing he was likely going to die just so that Laurent would not be alone. Those are not the choices of Kings. It’s not duty. Those are the choices made with love and with little regard for anything but that love.

Laurent, we know, knows that Damen can beat the Regent. The Regent has not won against him yet. It’s somewhat tactical but it’s hypothetical, a conciliation or justification of the sacrifice he’s making. Getting the Regent out of Akielos, giving himself up, makes Damen safer, because Laurent knows that Damen retaking the throne in Akielos is a matter of time, they won’t stand against him for long, he knows this. The Regent muddies the waters. But Damen is, canonically, the only person who has baffled and beat the Regent from day one. Laurent is that confident in Damen. But, as I said, those are his justifications. Not his reasons.

Damen doesn’t even try to justify it; he goes so that Laurent is not alone. That’s his choice. Winning their crowns was an afterthought.

Damen doesn’t do it blindingly, he is painfully aware of the sword hanging over him, the consequences of those choices, but it is the moment where Damen decides that the feast in front of him is still worth it. If the sword falls it falls. It doesn’t matter what he does, if it’s going to fall it will fall regardless but if he doesn’t take what’s in front of him then the rest will mean absolutely fucking nothing. It is, for them both, a very conscious decision.

It does, of course, end with the bells. A two-fold symbol we all have been conditioned to accept as an ending: a Disney inspired Pavlovian response. It’s the hero’s arc complete, it’s the journey’s end, the signal of both a victory, and in every fairy-tale ever: a wedding.

Or: a kingdom and this, the real merging.

So there we go, hope you like it dear. You're lucky it was this and not word vomit about the sword throw scene because it very nearly was my dude.

a soul child is like being someone's kid, to me, and i got some of the characteristics from my spirit parents. and mine are obvious to the point where once you interact a few times with me you'll be able to tell who They are lmaooo

you usually find out who by asking and by looking at your own personality and life so far. Athena straight up calls me Her daughter, so that one is fairly obvious. i am the only musician in my family of 500+, and Apollo also confirmed that He's soul dad 2 (His words!).

Hermes was 100% the most obvious one, i have so many stories about me being Hermes-coded as fuck. i can do a whole other post about this one lmao

so take a look at your personality. what characteristics do you have? what domains do they align with? do you feel a pull towards a certain deity (i could NOT get Hermes' name out of my head when i first researched HelPol). and then it's just a matter of asking!

You know what I was thinking about this when the vengeance saga came out. Bc then I was like what would the YV boys Godly parents be?Along with all of the listeners with their Godly parents as well.

The boys I try explaining and the listeners are more of a feel. I tried looking up the characteristics of being a child of any of the gods to make my assigning more easier.

So here who I'd give which God's to the yv boys and their listener:

I can see him being a child of Tyche or Dionysus. I say this bc I can totally see him taking people luck away and playing pranks with it. Also he did throw a party to try and cope with shit so why not Dionysus.

I wanna say Hephestus or Artemis. Hephestus bc the children are great builders and mechanics. Artemis because of how passionate he loves camping and being outdoors.

- Apollo basically raised Hermes, for all the value of “raised” when concerning gods.

- Maia did not want to be a mother, and had no idea how to. She tried, and did care about Hermes, but was secretly relieved when Hermes took to following Apollo everywhere. Zeus was really perfecting his parenting style of the day, which was caring about his kids from a distance (he had other priorities, they were not really near the top) and occasionally popping in to give some Fatherly Advice or have bonding moment (omg taking his kids fishing…deadbeat dad core for REAL) before fucking off again like “parental control duties DONE I am SUCH a good dad. See you again in like 50 years, sport!” It was particularly bad when Hermes was born.

- Hermes followed Apollo around for a solid couple hundred years, acting as his shadow pretty much. It drove Athena and Artemis CRAZY. Apollo’s extroverted ass was completely baffled by people being off put by his baby brother basically being attached to his back. He’s not gonna bother you he’s just gonna hang out?? What’s the problem??

- Hermes stayed in a younger form for a looong time because he knew Apollo would never say no to him if he looked cute enough. Until he got hit with the depression beam, he kept whipping that form out whenever he got in trouble. He’s baby, your honor, you can’t be mad at a BABY

- Hermes held Dionysus for 2 seconds before he decided he was willing to die for this little guy. The couple hours after he was born were spent by Hermes holding him up to random family members and going “LOOK AT HIM HES SO SMALL” and the family members going “Hermes please do your job”

- When Dionysus joined Olympus, Hermes eagerly took him under his wing in a similar manner to Apollo taking on Hermes. Not as much weird parental responsibility though. But he was still following Apollo everywhere so Apollo got TWO mischievous shadows. Much to Artmemis’ dismay. Why are there TWO OF THEM

- All they ever had to do was duck behind Apollo and he’d defend them against whoever they’d pissed off now even when they were 100% in the wrong. Especially when they were 100% in the wrong, honestly.

- Zeus and Hermes’ relationship has a lot of layers (a post for another time) but the bare bones basics is that early on Zeus just thought he was a Clown (that’s my funny boy <3) and nowadays he’s Zeus’ under appreciated, overworked personal assistant. Although he’s kind of been Zeus’ lapdog since the beginning. Father Please Notice Me I am not as shiny as Apollo but I can roll over so nice pls pls pls

- Hermes has not had a nap in the past century somebody please help him. Give your local delivery man a nice tip because he has like 20 other domains and would rather be doing Literally Anything Else. And also a hug maybe, the most contact he ever gets is when he brushes hands with whoever he’s giving a package. Somebody get this man a paid vacation he has been holding Olympus together with duct tape

- Hermes has the worst case of Middle Child Syndrome Known To Man

- Hermes and Artemis like each other! Shockingly. For reasons unrelated to Apollo, even. They just like to hang out. Hermes is one of the two Olympians she’s happy to be around <3

- Apollo has tried, with varying success, to get Hermes and Athena to be friends. The results have been… mixed.

- Athena, Apollo and Hermes will occasionally have absolutely legendary verbal smackdowns. So brutal that it would actually evaporate a mortal on the spot. Indescribable, really. Anyone who overhears them will never mentally recover,

Star Wars Demigod AU Aesthetics

My take on who star wars characters godly parents would be!

Luke and Leia are both kids of Aphrodite.

For Luke, I feel like he would have powerful charm speak and much like Leia, be the strongest person in combat in a room despite being underestimated by everyone based on appearance. I also love the idea of the twins having everyone fall in love with them all the time (I think they would make a bit out of it). Some casual Din/Luke is also in this aesthetic (more on Din later).

Leia aesthetic for being a daughter of Aphrodite.

I think that Leia would have been claimed sooner than Luke was (coming to camp when she was younger) and thus she knows how to control her charm speak more than Luke does. She would also be more of a realist with love as she has had her fair share of insincere suitors.

Leia would also be the best shooter at camp half blood. Some Leia/Han is also in this aesthetic!

Han would be the son of Hermes.

He is always traveling, good at thievery/cunning actions, and is a good navigator. I think that he would be sent on his first quest with Luke and Leia (before Luke is claimed) and would be micro managing their travels.

He constantly tries to beat Leia at shooting but they both know that he isn't as good as she is (Leia/Han is also incorporated in this aesthetic).

Din would be the son of Hephaestus.

This one took me a while but honestly it fits.

I think that beyond the armor (which he would 100% wear at camp half blood), he is also super efficient at doing repairs (but not as much as his fellow Hephaestus kid Peli), and uses fire. He would have gone on a lot of quests and is experienced in it (his bounty hunting).

I also just love the idea of a Hephaestus and Aphrodite kid being togethers (thus Din/Luke is in this aesthetic too).

Finally, Lando.

He would be a son of Dionysus. He has the right vibes:

Strong, fun, goes with the flow, and a bit sneaky. He would totally be an enjoyer of good theater and wine.

I like to think that he and Han have been camp besties for a while. He definitely would be the type of person to go on one quest (which was the most important one) and just have so much credit from then on thus making him the person everyone wants on a quest.

Introduction Post !

Hello! I already had one of these but some has changed in that little amount of time and I decided to finally get on with it to rewriting it. So here is some stuff about me and my practice.

Before we get into it I would like to say I am so genuinely thankful for having people interact with me on here and be kind to me even when I ask certain questions for help. This especially applies to anyone who saw and comforted me on my very first post going over my anxiety with this and the post where I vented about my depression. I do not reply to comments under posts mainly because I am nervous to but please know that I am forever grateful for all the kindness and support. ❤️

I go by multiple names but as of right now I use "Alyce", "Amleth", "Nakoa", & "Heloise" the most. I have just turned 17 years old about a month ago, I use any pronouns along with Neos such as vamp.(Because gender is fun). I am a Puerto Rican Taíno, with some Dutch thrown in there from my moms side. My experience with my practice hasn't been for long, but my research makes up for it I think. I have been hyper-fixated on Greek Mythology in general since Elementary school but became interested and drawn to the Hellenic practice in middle school. I am not by any means saying my research has been 100% reliable or valid compared to actual first hand experience.

I am a baby witch! I have been interested in the idea of it since around the same time I've been interested in the Hellenic practice, my mom is a very superstitious lady so that still has effect on how I can practice in the house. I am still very new to Tarot, and I have a long way to go with it (Searching up on YouTube for shuffling tutorials)...

About my worship and relationships with Gods, I publicly worship Apollo, Ares, and Hermes. I mostly keep my worship and relationship with Helios, Selene, Nyx, Dionysus, and Aphrodite very private unless to post something silly or progress that I am proud of. This is just a personal choice of mine for now. So you will most likely see more posts of those three than those other five.

I am a writer! The main genre I stick to is around Thriller and Fantasy, and have at least 20+ unfinished book ideas in my docs. I don't think Zagreus would get jealous so quickly! So I made some scenarios were he could get a lil' jelly. Zagreus Jealous

Does he get jealous quickly?

No, he doesn't.

Zagreus isn't some kind of yandere or anything like that, he knows that you can handle any situation very well - So, he doesn't get jealous of anything.

Everything seems okay to him; You want an poly relationship? Okay, talk to him and he will make this work well. You want to date his dad? No. You want to date Dyonisus? All fine for him.

But, he can get Jealous quickly if people can do things that he can't with you.

What does he get jealous of?

That depends on the personality you chose. If it is Sun or Eclipse, he gets jealous about how the other gods can just... Go and talk to you, hug you, kiss you...

If it is Moon, Cloud or Rain, he is probably going to get jealous if you are approaching or give too many gifts to other beings, especially if he - by himself - doesn't get that many gifts - Or - you giving too much attention to someone other than him or his family.

If you are Rainbow, if you are flirting too much with others, he can feel a little jealous - especially if you start getting touchy with them.

It's very difficult to get him jealous and not mad. [Situations that some people put to 'jealousy act' (SA) would get him mad - what is not the ask.]

How does he act?

When he is jealous... Well... It is a little difficult to say with 100% certainty - because his actions change depending on what you like and if you are in the underworld and everything.

He starts to roll his eyes at the subject [The other person], especially if they are trying to get your attention. He WILL be very very sarcastic with the other person, even mocking their words.

With you [around the other person] he would just play off as being chill and would just give some hints about his jealousy for you to understand that he wants to talk with you alone. [He wouldn't make you just let your friend behind just because he felt jealousy]

With you, alone, he would explain everything that he felt and ask for forgiveness - cause he couldn't control his own feelings. You would need to say some kind stuff to him, in your own way, to make him understand that feeling jealousy is normal... And that he shouldn't feel so down about that.

...Now, you would want to know how he would act with the personality that you chose... Right?

You thought that it was a GREAT and FUNNY idea to surprise your boyfriend. You and Aphrodite just appear two time - in the beginning and to get a combine boon, after that, it seemed like you two just disappeared... Of course, it was part of your fun plan!

You and Aphrodite were chilling around after getting Zeus and Hades permission to go down there and were just waiting for Zagreus to chose between your boon or Aphrodite. With an 0,3 time record, he choosed your boon.

"Thank you, my beloved! I will remember this~ I would Aaaaalways choose you too!"

"What a shame... Could I be the third person into your relationship? Oh wait, I already am." Aphrodite was talking about being the third wheel... But, Zagreus [who was thinking that you two were acting suspicious] understanded... Another meaning.

He didn't like it. He just avoided the heart (Aphrodite's skill) and killed all the monsters, before just picking Aphrodite boon so he could continue his way, not saying anything.

 You could sense there was something wrong with Zagreus, but you couldn’t actually tell exactly what… But you were so happy and excited for Zagreus to get back at Hades’s place so you could surprise him that you didn’t even think about how sus everything sounded. 

 And after some time, Zagreus died… Well, no sh- But he got back at the ‘checkpoint’, where… Tada! You were there too!

“. . .Oh my, if it isn’t Zagreus’s partner!” With Hypnos' lack of keeping secrets and surprises, he would be upfront with that information. Zagreus quickly turned his head so he could see… You. You … The vision he had - first seeing you - was probably one of the prettiest in his head.

 he didn’t wait, just runned to hug you with all the speed he had - using his dash to be close enough to you before just pulling you to his embrace. Aphrodite would laugh at this demonstration of affection.

 “Seems like Zagreus and you match~��� She would say, happily almost not seeing how dark and dull his eyes would be almost hostily towards her “Oh my- I should apologize for what I did say earlier~ I understand that you misunderstood my words, I was talking about being the ‘Third wheel’ and not the ‘lover’~”

 “Oh… I see, it's my fault.” He would say in his worried but sorry tone as he created a little distance between you and him “...Though… Could I talk with you, [Reader]?”

 He would guide you to his room, there, he would be way more upfront with his thoughts… “Look, I’m sorry… I… I just couldn’t say those things in front of Hypnos and Aphrodite… But… I got jealous of that whole thing… I just noticed that you could live happily with some god of the Olympus. It would be way easier and you wouldn’t have too much trouble… Especially because of having to go through a lot of stuff just so you can get into the Underworld.”

 “Do you think I give a single fuck?” You would say, with your characteristic smile and would pinch Zagreus’s cheek “I love you, Zagreus… And if I need to go to hell, another dimension or whatever to be with you, I will.”

Hypnos and you started to get very close... Because of that, some souls didn't know about your true romantic relationship and would have their doubts.

 No one seemed actually uncomfortable with that joke and - sometimes - Zagreus or Hypnos would kindly laugh it off and change the topic - But, this day, a Soul asked in front of others [loudly] if Hypnos was your boyfriend.

 “No.” That was your fast answer.

 “Hahahaha… How is that even an question...?" Hypnos would try to laugh it off, because he could feel Zagreus glare towards him - waiting for his answer “No, no. They are with this handsome fellow” Hypnos would point toward Zagreus and the words that the soul told Zagreus what they thought about the situation.

 “Well, you should be careful then. They are too close.”

 “Excuse me, but I trust both of them. If they were in love, I know that they would tell me… And, I’m not against polyamour.”

 The soul would stay quiet after that, Hypnos would sigh of relief and you would just wait patiently for Zagreus to go back to his room - following your boyfriend, you would hug him - bringing him closer to your body as a ‘gift’. 

 “Even as a God, I’ve never heard something as sweet as that… I’m happy that you trust me… But I could feel a hint of jealousy.”

 “I’m sorry, dear. Some feelings are difficult for me to… Understand, I admit that I was a little jealous of how fast you two became friends. Just that… But - I do not think you would ever cheat on me. I know and believe when you say you’re loyal.”

Then be it… The only bad thing was that you were almost naked in front of your long distance boyfriend with a 2-3 meters muscular soft boy behind you.

 “Oh shit.” You would say making it seem more sus than it already is.

 “Am I interrupting… Something?” Zagreus would ask, waiting for you to realize that he was on Olympus.

 The soul would go towards Zagreus first while you were asking something for the cooker. The soul would start with a respectful bow to Zagreus and would say “I’m sorry, master Zagreus , but if I don’t have a bed how am I going to serve you?”

 He almost choked - You didn’t seem bothered though, just continuing what you were doing while Zagreus tried to think about an answer. “I’m sorry but, I would suggest not flirting with me… I don’t feel comfortable with that.” A simple and honest answer, it would be enough to make the soul step back until just started to do something else. But it also seems (and I'm kinda pissed that no one ever mentioned this talking about the art) that he's tearing through Fyodor's cheek, which is a very good representation of his twisted affection towards Fyodor, and his desire to kill him to be free of emotion, because it showcases both the affection and the way he wants Fyodor gone. Also, the illusion of freedom he has, because that's what it is! An illusion.

Still about the tear through cheek, Fyodor seems entirely unphased! It's like he knows what he's doing, and he's humoring Nikolai, which shows that 1. he has no ill feelings towards Nikolai (also showcased in that one manga panel where Nikolai fearlessly holds Fyodor's hands and nothing happens) and 2. that everything he does is a calculated risk. Despite their positions, Fyodor is in control.

The unphased also fits in nicely with Fyodor's christ/savior complex— in the manga, the eyes represent the person's moral perception of themselves, hence why Dazai's eyes are typically black and Nikolai's are foggy. If you look at most of Fyodor's manga appearances, his eyes are usually white, which would mean he perceives himself as 100% morally in the right. Fyodor considers himself a messenger of god (missionary if you will), and so views his actions as necessary and morally correct!

Now many people say Fyodor has a god complex but what he has is a christ complex, and you know, "died for our sins"! Being unphased at Nikolai tearing through his cheek would represent his perception of himself as a messenger of god and willingness to endure pain to reach his ends, which he sees as the will of god! I'm not gonna start drawing paralels between Fyodor and Jesus because I'm not christian and not well versed in the bible, but I can still be totally insane about Fyodor's whole deal with religion!

And then, you have the grapes, the jewlery and the skull, typically a pagan symbol! Can be a reference to Dionysus and abundance, and Nikolai's obsession with freedom that in my opinion really draws into religious trauma. Dionysus is the god of several things but what is relevant to this is wine, party, insanity, theater, and the intoxication that merges the human and the divine. It draws to Nikolai's role as a 1. jester, 2. how he is presented to us as insane at first but then reveals that he very much is not, and 3. as a tool.

Dionysus is the protector of outcasts, and a symbol of everything that is chaotic and unpredictable, (godly), and that goes hand in hand with Nikolai too, and with his desire for freedom and his inability to reach it truly, because he is trapped in a world of gods (Fyodor) and emotion (also Fyodor), and that is why he wants Fyodor gone despite liking him so much! His position in the art also kind of highlights his role as a tool, because despite being above Fyodor and having an active rather than passive role in the imagery, [gestures at everything I said above], he's still not in control, despite having the ilusion of being so!

Hades!Lucifer with all the ways to play with the trope practically writes itself.

Now, Persephone! Alastor took me a little longer to watch and get over my critical barrier.

There is an implication that there are gods more associated with the city (Hera, Apollo...) and gods more associated with the wild (Dionysus, Artemis...) then I had an instinctive reaction to say nope, because Alastor as a radio host and Rosie as the leader of the cannibals not exactly a 1:1 resemblance, both are too associated with things in the city for me to see it (if you ask me what kind of goddess is the 1:1 equivalent of Rosie I would say it's Hera or Hestia actually)

But the thing is that Alastor already moves between both sides because Alastor in some ways is a walking contradiction (as p Persephone! Goddess of spring, Life,and lady of the Underworld, Death)and there is something in the idea of seeing a goddess of spring and a goddess of the hunt cannibalistic and quite bloodthirsty which is like mmmm.... Why do I suddenly need more of this?

But I'm really curious who Demeter would be in this scenario. It doesn't even have to be a motherly role, but who is the person who realizes that Alastor is missing without knowing what happened and wants to get him back? Because we have two options: whoever has Alastor's soul... And Charlie, Alastor was helping her with a project and now he's gone!

I can understand people's reservations about Alastor being Persephone, the goddess of spring. They're not exactly the most similar characters. But that's what I love about him being Persephone - it's so far removed from who you'd think he'd be that it's immediately intriguing to imagine how you would merge the two together.

Alastor is the god of spring, but he is still Alastor. He still hunts and kills, it's just usually hunters or deplorable mortals who wander into his territory (which is still accurate to Alastor, because according to Viziepop, Alastor in the show has his own moral code, and Viv compared him to Dexter Morgan, who was a serial killer notorious for murdering other murderers and serial killers). He's still whimsy and all about entertainment, he's just off on his own most of the time (with his equally crazy tree nymph Niffty, and the god he swindled into a deal, Husk). He's still clever and a smooth-talker, he can talk circles around nearly any other deity, he's just going to do it with flowers in his hair. He's still dangerous, he just likes planting now too.

The more I think about Artemis, the more I see her as Rosie. Artemis had her exclusively female hunters, she protected them, they were loyal to her, and even if Rosie wasn't as physically aggressive towards anyone in the show, she's still skilled in hunting and killing (obviously, she IS a cannibal), and I can totally see her hunters being the cannibals from the show as well. Her hunters don't have to be a small group in this AU, it's bigger and more like a community.

Obviously, I'm not keeping this AU 100% accurate to the Greek myths. I've found that when writing AU's it's better to change the trope to fit the character, instead of changing the character to fit the trope.

As for Hestia, well, honestly, I see Em being her more than Rosie (or maybe Carmilla could be Hestia O.O with how dedicated she is to her family and home). I mean, the goddess of the Hearth, home, family - I can see where Rosie would fit in, but with how caring, sweet, and loving Em is while still having a strong back-bone for standing up for injustice and how people are treated, she fits the role of Hestia really well (honestly, I'm also really liking the idea of Carmilla being Hestia).

I'm still not sure who I'm going to make Demeter, as Alastor didn't really have a protective, maternal figure looking out for him in the show. Some might argue that Rosie could fit that bill, but I've always seen her as ride or die friends with Alastor, and not so much a motherly figure.

So, I'm thinking of just making Demeter Alastor's mom. We don't see her in the show, nor do we know anything about her, but she's the closest character I can think of who can fit, well, his mother LOL.

I am tweaking the myth a bit so that Alastor ends up taking on more of her duties as goddess of the harvest (she was also the goddess of agriculture, fertility, and sacred law - with the last one, I think Alastor gets a lot of his moral principles from that, in the sense that he doesn't tolerate mortals (or immortals) damaging sacred ground, fields, nature, animals etc... which is another reason why he hunts the people who transgress through his fields and forests).

And the reason Alastor takes on more of Demeter's/his moms responsibilities is because, previously, he'd been attacked (see all the scars in his design) and it took a long time and a lot of power from his mom as she nursed him back to health. It took a lot out of her, so once he was healed, she stepped down to build her strength back up, and he took on more duties with the harvest, agriculture, and sacred law in her stead.

As for Charlie, well 😈I already have a character in mind for her.

personally? i think frederick and percy eventually get on really good terms, but i think it takes a while. percy is way more her family than him, so i can’t really see him asking frederick for permission, or even his blessing. it just doesn’t make sense to me at all. even if you don’t blame frederick for what happened, and if him and annabeth get on really good terms, i still don’t think it makes sense for percy to ask frederick if he can be annabeth’s family when he’s already 10x more her family than frederick.

kinda the same thing with athena. athena was never there for annabeth, and has said awful things to her. sally is 10000x the mother to annabeth that athena is. i mean, even poseidon is a WAY better parent than athena. gods like him, apollo, hades, and even dionysus at least let their kids know they love them. now, i can see percy being like “okay fyi im asking her to marry me, can you please not disintegrate me when i do?”

now for thalia, i love the thought of him talking to thalia. but not asking if he can marry her, just asking for her thoughts. besides percy, thalia knows annabeth the best. she’s like a sister to annabeth. so i love the thought of him tracking her down and the two of them sitting down and just talking about annabeth for hours. she’s their girl. and thalia would 100% be supportive of him proposing. i can see her saying things like “you know it would probably mean a lot to her if you incorporated this and this” you know?
