20 Questions Game
Tagged by @jadedloverart! for once, i've finished work early and am free to write fic and answer tag games today hahaha thanks for the tag!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
31 lmao, feeling a lil fandom old or whatever haha
2. Total AO3 word count
157,459 ??? wild considering i mostly post one-shots hahaha
3. Fandoms you write for
for the past few years it's been supercorp but you can also find bechloe, junksen/embry, some choices (the cyoa game), and les mis sprinkled in my ao3. all wlw too
4. Top 5 fics by kudos -
ruined nights make for perfect first dates (bechloe)
'cause you know all of my secrets (supercorp)
maybe i matter (because i knew you) (bechloe)
love tastes like spring and blood (bechloe)
kept my face to the sun (you drive away my shadows) (supercorp)
most interesting thing for me abt this is that ruined nights is the shortest one out of all five of these??? love that ppl liked it so much tho
5. Do you respond to comments?
as much as possible yeah! which reminds me that i haven't replied to @jadedloverart's comment on my fic. and other comments. i should do that hahaha
6. Fic w/ Angstiest Ending -
i don't end with angst haha i'm angst with a happy ending or bust lmao BUT the closest to angst would probably be love tastes bc the issue isn't solved until the very end
7. Happiest ending? -
all of them 💕 but if i had to choose then probabbbly cause you know
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not that i'm aware of!
9. Do you write smut/what kind?
nope! never been interested in writing it mostly bc my brain sees it as "action with even more emotions" and i have a hard enough time with action as it is lol
10. Do you write crossovers?
used to! and if you count the mcu+comics!marvel crossover i only posted a tidbit of, then yes, i still do
11. Ever had a fic stolen?
again, not that i know of
12. Ever had a fic translated?
yeah! can't remember for what tho but someone very kindly asked and i said ofc!! and then they sent the link but i can't remember where lmao
13. Ever cowritten a fic?
a long long time ago haha, wouldn't be opposed to doing it again though!
14. Favorite ship?
it's been supercorp since the pandemic! but who knows where the winds of my silly lil whims might take me?
15. A wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
all of them 💕 lmao jk jk but seriously i have a LOT of wips and i put them all under ONE file so it's like wading through a garbage dump trying to see what i'll do next and that's just for supercorp, i have separate untouched wips for allll my other old fandoms too lmao (some wips i doubt i'll ever finish for sc though are the undercover fake lovers one, the coastal cleanup one even though it SHOULD be easy in theory, the hanahaki au that's lena's version instead of kara's, and the one based off of emily the song by jeremy zucker)
16. Writing strengths?
anything descriptive! i can go in depth about shit forevveeerrrr
17. Writing weaknesses?
dialogue. like i can WRITE it and i can even write it WELL but that dialogue came from the bloodbath of thousands of drafts so
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in a different language?
many thoughts! number one being that if you don't know it, get someone who's above average fluent to help you if you feel like the language is needed in the story! and if the language is fake (like using kryptonian) then make the inclusion of it make sense! other thoughts are for my thinking only 💕 (and my unfortunate friends who have to listen to me lecture)
19. First Fandom you wrote for?
MAYBE ranger's apprentice or percy jackson
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
i can't pick favorite for my babies but i'm hella proud of all my supercorp fics rn! it had been so long since i joined a new fandom that i felt suuupppeerrr awkward posting at first! but it's been a nice experience shifting fandoms ever since :)))
for the no pressure tags! @nostradamus0 @sssammich @ridiculously-over-obsessed @tiny-maus-boots and anyone else who wants to join!
#tag game#while i do genuinely mean 'and anyone else who wants to join' it ALSO means 'i don't remember y'alls usernames'#and i'm p sure i just flat out forGOT even if in my heart of hearts i know that username hasn't changed in a long while#i just can't REMEMBER

OOH! OOH! I saw a movie before the Americans had a chance. Spider-man: No Way Home
First of all, I’d like to thank @astrangergivingthestrangewelcome for helping me procure a ticket to a sold out showing. I promise to avoid giving spoilers as much as possible.
NWH was absolutely, amazing/spectacular/whateverdescriptor of choice you have for Spiderman. Compared to the previous MCU Spiderman movies, it’s a solid star or two up in quality. Holland’s Parker is much more nuanced and flawed given the darker nature of the film. This made him much more tolerable to me that the happy-go-lucky Stark Jr. quipster of the rest of the trilogy. There’s still plenty of humor and the kind that has the whole theater laughing at that (even more so that the nominally comedic French Dispatch, which is still on my endless to-review list).
The cast of characters is impressive. The theatre I was in filled with cheers as half the characters were introduced. This would be mere fanservice if it weren’t for the fact that they do wonders for advancing the story, both plot-wise and thematically. Despite the size of the cast, the majority of the aren’t one-sided, ranging from emotionally vulnerable to terrifyingly menacing. This is especially the case with Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, who is *chef’s kiss* brilliant
One of my biggest gripes with the previous MCU Spiderman films is the overabundance of CGI, especially when strung together in really, really short shots that leave the mind lost and the eyes bleeding. FFH was especially terrible in this regard but thankfully this sort of headache has been toned down, mostly. I enjoyed the fight scenes, despite how busy they got at times.
Where it falls short: The film’s entire premise is reliant upon a moment of impulsivity, much like the collective stupidity in FFH, but I prefer fridge logic to be passed over, especially when magic and hearts are involved. Doctor Strange’s character and aptitude vary drastically as the plot demands, but thankfully the film stops far short from allowing itself to become a team up movie (much less so that Thor: Ragnarok). However, this does not stop the film from becoming cluttered by its cast, rendering many of them really stupidly trivial sub quests worthy of a few jokes and some smiles from fans. Cinema Sins will have its day of reckoning on this, HARD.
Finally, without giving too much away (THIS MEANS PSEUDO SPOILERS), NWH, when making a concerted effort, functions as a deconstruction of the superhero. It does pick up exactly where FFH leaves off and explains why secret identities are important. And for once, J. Jonah Jameson is validated in calling Spiderman an menace, despite the fact J. K. Simmons’ wonderful impression seems to be an interpretation of Alex Jones. There’s a somewhat healthy discussion of “the no killing rule” and heroes’ duties to do more than just commit violence. Finally, the last arc of the film is a decent enough exploration of what it means to be your friendly neighborhood Spiderman.
Probably one of the top 5 Marvel movies, but really only watch it if you’ve watched Marvel movies. If you do watch them, don’t skip this one.
4/5
Anyways, I’m tired and need to pack for a plane tomorrow. Love you, all! -SC

I think you're over dramatic with the Sharon thing, we knew something like this was coming because MS said it. Besides, is only the first episode with her and you can't expect Sharon there all the time, EVC was filming two shows at the same time. And she is portrayed as a secondary character because she is and in the last episode she had more screentime and action than in the previous movies, and SC is finally comic accurate. Please stop complaining, people like you are the ones hurting EVC
1. Dark Sharon isn't the problem, the execution is. Even general MCU fans have recognized the inherently fanfic quality of e3. As I already said, I and many other sharon fans were very excited to see this comic storyline of her's adapted; we all wanted to see sharon's bitterness and anger come to life on screen. But there are a million ways to write that, and they chose the wrong way.
That script isn't conforming to Dark Sharon, Dark Sharon is conforming to the type of woman Kolstad can write (and by the way, zemo sam and bucky all suffer from this).
2. EVC's screentime was temporarily reduced on The Resident around the same time she was filming TFATWS (pregnancy bed rest - it's an ensemble show and you'd hardly miss her). If her screentime in TFATWS is lacking, it's not because she was unavailable. Besides, she can't be both underutilized because of scheduling conflicts and also justifiably absent because of her character's role. It's one or the other.
3. She had seven minutes total in two films. Are we supposed to use that to gauge our satisfaction, because it's an incredibly low bar. I'm fully aware she's a 'secondary character' but I guess there must be some huge range of acceptability on that, when a former villain and a completely new character get more time with title leads (thus far) than she does.
I didn't complain about lack of action - I'm not the one who needed to be convinced EVC could pull off fight scenes like that. I never had doubts in EVC's ability since she was first cast, I knew she would win doubters over if they only gave her a real chance. I feel incredibly vindicated that her fight is (rightfully) earning her praise, and I genuinely hope other creators take notice and cast her in something worthy of those skills.
But it's the context that counts, and the context here was ridiculous. If I end up being wrong after the next three episodes, I have zero problem admitting my failure to give credit where credit is due.
4. I'm the one who is hurting EVC? Because I'm disappointed and skeptical when it comes to shitty writing instead of being grateful sharon appears at all? No, I'm not the one crying to have her character removed from the MCU or still insist she's the power broker or some other bullshit, I'm not the one who 'finally' finds sharon interesting now that steve is nice and cozy in the safety of the grave.
'People like me' aren't the problem, and if that's really what you think you can hardly blame me for doubting your sincerity. There are legions of people who are actually guilty of that crime and their misogynistic griping had actual real world consequences to both sharon and EVC's detriment. I accept that I'm overdramatic over a forgettable web series, but your accusation that I'm the one hurting EVC is a complete joke.

Chapter 15 - A Heart Has Many Secrets
-
Getting ready for school the next morning felt incredibly strange; almost foreign. Getting up early hadn’t been easy. He didn’t have an appetite, which nearly led to a bit of a ding-dong with Loki, who was very insistent he needed to eat anyway. And, as if tensions weren’t high enough, Loki broke the news that he had to go to work so wouldn’t be able to take him to school.
-
Peter wasn’t happy being in the car with Tony, and he made his feelings very clear. He’d become very good at keeping silent since becoming a member of the Stark household. Tony wouldn’t be deterred though, and kept talking, offering unwanted advice, reassurance, and generally chatting away as though he were actually getting an answer from the teen beside him.
Peter tried to dive out of the car as soon as they parked, but Tony grabbed his arm.
“Hey” he said. “Come here”
Tony hugged him, and Peter pulled away furiously. Tony kept hold of his arm a moment longer.
“Be good, sweetheart. I’ll see you after school”
Peter scowled, and Tony reluctantly released him. Peter took great pleasure in slamming the car door behind him. Oddly, as he walked towards the main building, he didn’t feel as though he’d been away all that long. He didn’t feel nervous either. In fact, he felt quite calm; although he was certain he could see huge changes on the horizon - far above what he could imagine.
-
Peter seemed to have inherited Loki’s flare for a low-key but poignant entrance. Oddly, as he walked into his form room, and was met by the shouts and voices of so many, he felt so free. In a way, he felt like a felon who was to be released while everyone else was left behind. Let’s be honest; he’d never quite managed to fit into this high-class school in the way everyone had hoped. And he didn’t care. He wasn’t sure how homeschooling was going to go, but he felt so calm looking at everyone, that he was certain he wasn’t going to miss this.
-
Going to his music lesson after lunch was the only thing that almost made him change his mind about the school. He’d grown to be quite close to Mr James since starting private lessons. Mr James was so down to Earth, so unlike a lot of the other teachers, and so supportive of Peter’s playing, and always seemed impressed with all of his progress.
“It’s good to see you again, kiddo” he said, shutting the practice room door. “How have you been? I heard about what you did”
Peter shrugged noncommittally, but he looked a little embarrassed.
“Don’t worry” Mr James said, squeezing his shoulder. “I was a right little terror when I was a kid. When I was your age, I’d been expelled four times”
Peter looked at him.
“Yes, really! If someone hadn’t shoved a saxophone into my hands, I probably would’ve got expelled from the last school too! Incredible how much music can help you turn things around”
Peter nodded, sitting down at the piano, running his fingers along the keys.
“I don’t suppose you’ve had any chance to practice. I hope you’re not too rusty”
“I’ve got one at home now” Peter said, and then started slightly, surprising himself.
It surprised Mr James too. “Nice! I’ve gotta say, kiddo, I imagined your voice a lot different”
Peter could feel himself blushing, but Mr James just smiled.
“It’s nice to hear it. Now, fancy showing me what you’ve been working on?”
Peter swallowed, turning to the piano properly. He felt nervous now, and he was still surprised that his voice had jumped out. But maybe... maybe that meant he could perform properly here.
Maybe.
But he couldn’t think of what to say, and Mr James could see his hesitation.
“Why don’t you do something we were working on first?” he suggested. “Clair de lune?”
Slow, but long. A good way to ease in. Peter understood his choice. It had been a little while since he’d played anything classical. He watched Mr James find a page in a book and set it in front of Peter. He’d managed to pick up a few notes, but he didn’t really need them. He knew this track well enough; it was so popular.
It was nice playing it, though. Something so familiar, and calm, but somehow dramatic too. He didn’t feel like he was playing the music, but more like it was playing him; making his fingers glide almost effortlessly across the keys. He started feeling much more relaxed, much less nervous and embarrassed. Maybe he’d miss this. All these calm, practice room moments...
“...That was perfect” Mr James said. “You’re incredible. I’ve never known someone learn so fast, and so well”
“Thank you...”
“You know, I do lessons outside of school. If you wanted to continue after you leave”
“I... I’d have to ask dad” Peter said, not quite looking at him, his voice small.
“What have you been working on?”
Peter shrugged slightly. He’d been playing a lot since getting the piano, mainly to drown out everything else that was happening. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to play. Maybe something fast, or something complex. Maybe...
“I’ve got one, but it’s kinda... long”
“That’s alright. So was the one we just played. If there’s anything you want to show me, just go ahead. This is your lesson, your learning, and your talent: you don’t have to let other people decide what you do with it”
Peter looked at him. He’d played strange and wonderful things to him before, and he trusted him - both his music judgement and personally.
Mr James listened, unsure if he recognised the tune at first, and then startling when Peter opened his mouth.
“You tell me there's an angel in your tree. Did he say he'd come to call on me? For things are getting desperate in our home, living in the parish of the restless folks I know”
Mr James watched him. He’d only just heard him speak, so finding out that he had a voice - and one like this - was a bit of a shock to say the least.
“Burn down the mission, if we're gonna stay alive. Watch the black smoke fly to heaven, see the red flame light the sky. Burn down the mission, burn it down to stay alive. It's our only chance of living, take all you need-”
And it carried on like that, with power and passion, and very few wobbles, and all too soon, voice and keys petered out, and the practice room was filled with a moments silence.
Mr James merely leaned closer. “What else have you got?”
Peter couldn’t help but grin, and he knew exactly what to play now. Something a bit tricky. But something he knew well enough after all the times he’d played it.
"-But where were all your shoulders when we cried? Were the darlings on the sideline, dreaming up such cherished lies? To whisper in your ear before you die”
Something that had started as a way to show off a bit soon turned into something to enjoy, and in his usual fashion, he got sucked into the music deeply. He wasn’t even distracted by Mr James gently correcting his posture as he played.
“Junk.., angel.., this closet's always stacked. The dealers in the basement, fillin’ your prescription for a brand new heart attack. But where were all your shoulders when we cried? Were the doctors in attendance saying how they felt so sick inside, or was it just the scalpel blade that lied?”
Peter shivered, but he didn’t miss a note. He didn’t let up, hardly even opened his eyes, until he’d tapped out the last few notes.
Once again, there was a moments silence. Peter looked at Mr James, biting his lip nervously. The man looked back, and smiled.
“You’re a special case, Peter Parker-Stark” he said. “You should sign up for the end of term show”
“I don’t know...”
“Well I do, and I think it’s a great idea. You don’t have to sing, but you should definitely play and show everyone what you can do. Go out with a bang”
-
Peter was ready to tell Loki all about his day, so he was pretty furious when Tony turned up to collect him at the end of school. Luckily, Tony was on a work call, which eliminated any awkward one-sided conversation. He was still on the call when they got home, so Peter wasted no time in getting out of the car and darting upstairs. He rushed to Loki’s room, but stopped outside, hearing voices.
“...As long as there’s a decent school within walking distance, that area would work well” Loki was saying. “What are the public transport links like? I had a hire car so...”
Peter stayed quiet, pressing his ear up against the door. What on earth was he talking about? He must be on the phone, but who to? All this talk of schools and transport and amenities. It was almost as though-
“PETER!”
Peter jumped so violently he smacked his head on the door frame.
“Ow!”
“Serves you right” Tony said. “What are you doing, eavesdropping like that?”
“Daddy’s on the phone” Peter mumbled, rubbing his head.
“I’ll ask you again: what are you doing, eavesdropping like that?”
“Being nosy, I guess”
“Come here”
Peter looked at Tony properly, remembered he was supposed to be giving him the silent treatment, and scowled, annoyed at both of them. Tony sighed, deciding he had better things to do than argue.
“Go and get changed. Now”
Peter didn’t really have a choice, not with Tony watching. He shut his door behind him, throwing his bag down and pulling his tie off. Typical of Tony to sneak in undetected at such a crucial moment. Tragically, there was an en-suite and a cupboard between Peter’s room and Loki’s, so he couldn’t even listen through the wall. He’d have to get his answers some other time.
-
Peter got changed, checked the coast was clear, and snuck back over to Loki’s door. Loki was still on the phone, although the conversation seemed to be coming to an end.
“-Like I said, it’s still just an idea. It’s good to have all the fact first though. Sorry...? Yes, of course... Thanks again, chick. Talk to you soon. Bye now”
Everything went quiet, and Peter stood where he was, even more confused than before. Loki only called people he cared about ‘chick’. Who could he be talking to?
As he was considering the options, Loki’s door opened, making Peter jump. They looked at each other.
“Hello, you” Loki said, closing his door behind him.
Something was off here, Peter knew it. “Who were you talking to?”
“Maggie, one of the ladies I worked with in Scotland. You know, I told you about her?”
Peter nodded slightly. He’d heard a lot of stories about Loki’s time in Scotland after he’d got back from his sabbatical. He used to talk about it a lot, but he hadn’t heard him mention it much lately. Although... he’d been looking at houses for sale, hadn’t he?
“Peter? Are you listening to me?”
“Huh?” Peter shook his head slightly. “Sorry”
“Never mind, sweetheart” Loki said, kissing him on the forehead. “Do you want a hot drink while I’m making one?”
Peter shook his head. He watched Loki go, and then looked back at the door. If Loki was just making a drink, he usually just left his door open. Peter knew that he was being overly suspicious, but he wanted answers. So he opened the door and slipped into Loki’s room.
Loki’s tablet was on the bed. Peter tapped the screen, hoping it had only just timed out. No such luck: it wanted a password. Well, Peter knew a lot of Tony’s passwords, but he’d never managed to guess any of Loki’s - aside from his phone password. Peter abandoned the tablet and picked up Loki’s phone. He tapped in the pin he remembered - and the phone opened. He sat on the bed, looking through the phone. Loki hadn’t lied; his last call had been to Maggie. More than an hour, it had been. He looked through the notes on the phone. Most of it was the usual stuff: extra shifts, household tasks, ongoing shopping lists, something about Tony’s prescription, and then something titled ‘Peter’.
Peter looked up, checking the door, and then clicked on the note. It was another list: School, Room, Tech, Piano, Swimming?, Music, Drama?, Routine. Bike???
Peter looked at the list, confused. He had absolutely no idea what was going on here. What was the thought process? He closed the notes, glanced up, and spotted a notebook, just the corner poking out from under the pillow. He picked it up. It looked old, with curled corners and a well-thumbed front cover. He opened it, finding more notes - but this looked more professional, and upon closer inspection, he suddenly knew what it was. This was Loki’s old notebook from when he’d been working in Scotland; notes on the kids he was helping look after, everything from history to medical appointments to nighttime routines. Why would he be looking at his again? Nostalgia? But, if it was just nostalgia, why would he be hiding it? He liked talking about it; they were used to it in this house now. So why the secrecy? Or was Peter just being paranoid?
He put the notebook back, and picked up Loki’s phone again, opening his recent texts. There wasn’t much. Nothing to people in Scotland, anyway. He opened his latest texts to Tony. ‘Back at 3 x” read the last one. Above that wasn’t really much of interest. Lots of saying when they’d be back, asking if the other needed anything, quick ‘I love you’ texts, that kind of thing. But when he went back further, he found what looked like an argument, and he clicked the back button, sharpish. He knew his parents argued sometimes, but he didn’t like thinking about it. He sighed, and put the phone down. He was just being silly.
He stood up, and something crackled beneath his foot. He crouched down, taking hold of the folder. It was a new one, evidenced by the price sticker still in place. He opened it, surprised at how thick it felt, and surprised even further by what he found inside. All of a sudden he felt a bit sick, and hot, and on high alert; his pulse beating in his ears. He took the papers out of the folder, looking through them properly. Job adverts, some of them. Information about residency and citizenship and things like that. And property listings. Lots of them, with notes and bullet points written on them in Loki’s familiar scrawl. He swallowed hard, trying to focus on the words - and then the door opened. Peter jumped, and gasped a little, looking at his father.
Loki carefully set his mug of tea down on the nearest cabinet. Peter couldn’t move, only watch, as Loki came over to him.
“And what” Loki said, dangerously quiet. “Do you think you’re doing?”
“I-I-I was just-” his hands were shaking, and he dropped everything. “Ah! I- Sorry!”
He went to pick everything up, but Loki put a hand out, stopping him. Peter stayed as still as he could while Loki gathered everything and put it back in its folder. Loki stood up, dragging Peter to his feet too. He left him stood there and put the folder into the little lockable filing cabinet by the desk.
“Daddy, I-”
“Not a word” Loki said. “I know exactly what you were doing”
He picked up his phone off the bed, opening it and clicking the button to see the recently viewed items. Peter had definitely taken leave of his senses, leaving everything out in the open like this.
“I-I’m gonna go” Peter tried.
“No, I think not” Loki said. He held a hand up, and the door slammed shut.
Peter swallowed hard. Loki hadn’t looked at him properly since he’d walked in, and Peter’s senses were screaming at him. He wished he’d just left everything alone.
“You came into my room without permission” Loki started, setting his phone down on his bedside table. “You go through my personal files, y-”
“Why have you got all that stuff? Is that from when you were in Scotland before? Were you gonna stay a lot longer?”
“Peter, do you really think that’s important?”
“...Is that a yes?”
Loki looked at him. “You try to get into my tablet. You get into my phone, you look at my private notes and messages”
“Not all of them!”
“Found your tongue, I see” Loki said. “You went through my things, you came in here without permission, you’ve invaded my privacy and you’ve betrayed my trust in you”
“I-I didn’t mean to! I just heard you on the phone and I thought something might be wrong and I wanted to find out what”
“And you didn’t think to just ask me?”
Peter stopped, and he felt himself blush.
“I’m really not happy with you, young man”
Peter looked down, shuffling on his feet. “...Am I in trouble?”
“YES, you’re in trouble!” Loki snapped, making the boy jump. “If you’d listened instead of interrupting, you’d know why. Although, judging by your face when I caught you red-handed, you already know why. You know you’ve done wrong”
“Mm... I didn’t mean to”
“What did you think would be the outcome, if you came in here and started going through my things without permission, and got caught? Did you stop to consider that?”
“Well...”
Loki folded his arms over his chest. Peter took a step back, and dared look at his father, at the look in his eyes, and the slight tremble of his left arm.
“I’m sorry”
Loki didn’t say anything. He sat down on the bed, resting his head in his hand.
“...Daddy?”
Loki stayed quiet, thinking. Was he right to be this angry? Was it really as bad as he though it was? Had any real harm actually been done? What should he do? Punish the boy in the way his first, second, and third instincts were telling him to? Let him go without consequence? Risk him doing it again, and maybe finding more? He’d found so much in eight minutes. How much could he find in an hour? He might even reach the right conclusion if he had long enough.
“Get my tea”
Peter did as he was told, surprised by the request, but still cautious. He watched Loki sip his drink and sit up a little straighter. It looked like he was calmer, like he was relenting. For a moment they looked at each other, and just when it looked as though Loki was about to say something, there was a knock, and the door opened.
“Hey, a- oh, you’re both here” Tony said. “What’s going on?”
Loki sighed. “I found him going through my phone and private things”
“What?!” Tony marched over, the look on his face bringing a new meaning to Hell Hath No Fury. “How DARE you?!”
“I-”
“No, don’t interrupt!” Tony snapped, making him face him properly. “You shouldn’t have been in here without permission anyway! How dare you betray our trust like this? Why I-”
Loki watched them, feeling absent. He watched the way Tony spoke to Peter. The way he snapped at him. And then the way he shouted at him. He looked at his hand on the boys wrist, keeping him there. He watched the way Peter tried to shut down the situation, the way he tried to explain but kept getting cut off. He saw the look in the boys eyes.
“I’m sick to death of your behaviour! I never would have gotten away with acting like this, and neither are you”
Tony tugged the boy close and hit him hard. Peter’s squeak, the next smack, and the sound of the boy crying broke Loki out of his dazed state.
“Tony!”
“He’ll never learn if we don’t discipline him” Tony said through gritted teeth, bringing his hand down again.
“I’m sorry!!” Peter cried.
“There” Tony said. “You’ve had an apology now”
“He’s already apologised!”
Tony didn’t seem to be listening. Loki stood still for a moment, trying to think about things rationally. But another horrible smack, followed by the sight of his son howling and begging his father not to hurt him anymore was more than enough to make up his mind.
“Tony, stop it!” Loki grabbed Tony’s wrist. “You’re being too hard on him! It’s not that big a deal, and certainly not enough for you to be hurting him like this! Stop it now!!”
“He can take a few taps, Lolly” Tony said, but he let go of the boy.
Loki quickly moved Peter away from Tony, shielding him as he hugged him.
“Are you alright?! Be honest with me, honey”
Peter covered his mouth with his hand, keeping his eyes averted, sobbing. Loki hugged him tight, protectively, willing the boy to stop shaking. He glared at Tony over his shoulder.
“You’ve scared him, you bastard!” he all but shouted. “You can’t take out all your pent-up emotions on our little boy!”
“I’m not!” Tony protested. “I’m being a parent”
“You’re being a bully” Loki shot back. “Do you want him to go and live with Thor, is that it?”
“What are you going on about?”
“That’s what happened last time you didn’t think he was safe with you. If you don’t sort yourself out, he’ll have to go again”
“Lolly, darling, you’re tired. Let’s talk about this in the morning” Tony said awkwardly.
“No, let’s talk about it now” Loki said, sitting Peter down on the bed and turning to Tony properly. “I don’t care how much you want to deny it, we both know you’ve been horrible to Peter ever since you got those DNA test results”
“Are you surprised? It’s a lot to process!”
“I know it’s a lot to process! But that’s not a reason nor an excuse for you treating him so badly. I can’t be here all the time, and-”
“Loki, I’m not being horrible to him! He’s the one being a little nightmare!”
“He’s being fine!”
“He was going through your stuff!”
“And I was handling it! You didn’t need to barge in here and launch an attack, did you? You’ve hurt him multiple times since that appointment, and the scariest part is you seem to think it’s just discipline or something, or you’re just a very good actor. You can’t seem to see that there’s a difference between a firm smack and an absolute wallop like you’ve been dolling out”
“I haven’t been that harsh!” Tony insisted. “...Have I?”
“Who in their right mind would react to those results the way you have? Thank god our kid is the only one, if this is how you are”
“What do you mean by that?”
“You talked to that Asgard man?” Peter piped up nervously.
“Yes, I did, sweetheart, even though it put me at risk of bumping into all the other bastards up there, because you asked me to, and you needed to know. And so did I”
“...He’s really the only one?” Tony said, suddenly a lot calmer.
“Yes, and I’m bloody glad of it too, and not in the least because you’ve reacted so badly to this that I’m not sure I even trust you around him right now”
Tony didn’t say anything, but he looked shame-faced. Loki didn’t look any happier for it.
“You need to face up to this and start acting like a proper dad again. Your denial is doing no one any good, and your way of ‘processing’ your emotions is damaging us. But it’s starting to seem more and more unlikely that you’re ever going to accept this new reality, unless you’re forced to” he said. “And maybe doing that is a good idea”
Loki picked up his phone, checking the time. It was still fairly early. Good.
“What are you doing?” Tony said.
“Making you face up to this”
“You can’t do that!”
“Watch me”
Peter flinched at the struggle that followed. Part of him wanted to jump in and make it stop, but he felt like he’d already caused enough trouble for one day. Tony was no match for Loki anyway. Peter looked at them. Tony had ended up on his back, hands trapped by his sides, with Loki sat on top of him with one hand holding his phone, and the other over Tony’s mouth. Something about it seemed to be evidence of truce - or at least, something close to it.
“Hello, Marco, my love” Loki said. “Have you got a pen? Perfect. I’ve got a little something for our press release”
Tony tried to struggle and get Loki to stop, unsuccessfully. He looked over at Peter for help. Peter knew what that look meant, but there was no way he was going to jump to Tony’s aid, not after how hard he’d hit him. He flopped against Loki’s pillows and hid his face so Tony couldn’t throw any more signals at him.
“Word for word, darling, promise me that now. You can choose a little opening if need be, mind” Loki was saying. “Everything ready? Beautiful. So, this is what I was thinking” Loki cleared his throat. “Due to recent findings in our personal lives, my husband decided to carry out a paternity test on himself and our son, under the guidance of our General Practitioner. Having now had time to process the results, we are happy to announce to the general public the wonderful coincidence that our son, Peter, is also my husband Tony’s biological son. While shocked by the discovery, we still remain the same family of equal parents and child. We will not be available for interview and ask that our families privacy be respected during this time”
“Nice... Nice, beautiful” Peter heard Marco saying over the phone. “Great! Tony got anything to add?”
Loki paused, his hand still over Tony’s mouth. “Tony Stark is not available for comment”

Prepare your supply chain
Buyers of electronic components must now be prepared for future prices, extended delivery time, and continuous challenge of the supply chain. Looking forward to the future, if the price and delivery time continues to increase, the procurement of JIT may become increasingly inevitable. On the contrary, buyers may need to adopt the "just in case" business model, holding excess inventory and finished products to prevent the long -term preparation period and the supply chain interruption.
As the shortage and the interruption of the supply chain continue, communication with customers and suppliers will be essential. Regular communication with suppliers will help buyers prepare for extension of delivery time, and always understand the changing market conditions at any time. Regular communication with customers will help customers manage the expectations of potential delays, rising prices and increased delivery time. This is essential to ease the impact of this news or at least ensure that customers will not be taken attention to the sudden changes in this chaotic market.
Most importantly, buyers of electronic components must take measures to expand and improve their supplier network. In this era, managing your supply chain requires every link to work as a cohesive unit. The distributor of the agent rather than a partner cannot withstand the storm of this market. Communication and transparency are essential for management and planning. In E-energy Holding Limited, we use the following ways to hedge these market conditions for customers:
Our supplier network has been reviewed and improved for more than ten years.
Our strategic location around the world enables us to access and review the company's headquarters before making a purchase decision.
E-energy Holding Limited cooperates with a well -represented testing agency to conduct in -depth inspections and tests before delivering parts to our customers.
Our procurement is concentrated in franchise and manufacturer direct sales.
Our customer manager is committed to providing the highest level of services, communication and transparency. In addition to simply receiving orders, your customer manager will also help you develop solutions, planned inventory and delivery plans, maintain the inventory level of regular procurement, and ensure the authenticity of your parts.
Add E-energy Holding Limited to the list of suppliers approved by you, and let our team help you make strategic and wise procurement decisions.

Can u please rate all 6 Avengers, as they appear in Avengers(2012)(as in that is the roster to use for who is considered in the Avengers), from favourite to least favourite. For science
Okay, in Avengers 2012. Just based on that, none of the other movies. 1) Thor - My main man. All around good dude. 2) Iron Man - Smort. Gud. 3) Bruce - Please let this man rest.4) Captain America - Gr8 but poorly written in this particular movie. Would be higher when it comes to the MCU as a whole. 5) Hawkeye. Gosh, I love arrows. 6) Black Widow. Sc*rjo please show us one (1) human emotion.

Okay I'm gonna be bad and ask for multiple things😬😬. So your top 5 ice cream flavors Top 5 books you love Top 5 fanfics you love Top 5 OTPs(OT3,OTn) & top 5 songs....😊😍😘
Lol a list of lists. Alright here goes an entirely way too long answer lmao (why must I word so much).
Ice Cream Flavors:
1- Cotton candy (yes, I am an actual child)
2- Butterscotch
3- Mint chip
4- Neapolitan (I know technically its 3 flavors in a bowl but still it counts)
5- Vanilla
Top Five Books:
This one is a bit difficult because I don’t read as much as I used to but I’m going to try and avoid things I haven’t read recently because if I include stuff from my teens I KNOW there’s a good chance I’ll hate it now (hello, House of Night series).
1- The Captive Prince series. Its 3 books but I felt it easier to just lump it in as one. Anyone who looks this up- I warn you that the premise sounds absolutely horrible (to give you a warning it includes slavery). But I got the series recommended by someone I can only describe as someone who looks like she teaches Sunday school and is quite liberal so I thought ok, maybe the premise sounds bad but she said it was a political thriller, I’ll give it a shot. So I did and this series is amazing. Prince’s Gambit is such a great book (the second in the series).
2- Anything by Ellen Hopkins. I know I’m cheating here but I love every single book she’s written. My favs of hers include Burned (the sequel is good but the first is better), Identical (holy fuck that book T H R E W me), and Crank, Glass, and there’s a third in that series I can’t remember but they are all SO good. I lived my rebellious teenage phase through Ellen Hopkin’s characters tbh. She is amazing, please look her up.
3- The Harry Potter series (cheating again, I know). I got to the series later than all my peers (I read it at 18) but I am particularly fond of the 6th book.
4- The Hunger Games series. I absolutely love the world, the premise, and the followthrough. Its been forever since I’ve read them, but I know they’d hold up well to memory.
5- Most anything by Laurie Halse Anderson. Twisted is the one I remember the most and I’ll warn that I haven’t read it since I was 15, which probably means its not as good as I remember or much better than I had been able to perceive at that point in life (this is how I feel about Ellen Hopkins- I noticed more when I was older). Wintergirls is also very good and fucking heartbreaking.
Honorable Mentions: The Vampire Academy series. I dislike Rose/ Dimitri because I never could believe their relationship, but the worldbuilding, characters, and character arcs are fucking amazing. The sequel series has 2 good books but when I read the third I had to roll my eyes and throw the whole thing out. While Mead is amazing at workdbuilding and plot she should probably never be allowed to write romance. Her attempts are clumsy, sad, and strangely sex obsessed to the point where all characterization is lost even when I actually found the couple to be interesting and dynamic before they got together. But the first series has only background romance so its still fantastic. Someone get Mead a romance lesson, if she gets good at it then her books will be so much better.
Top Five Fanfics:
(Another hard one because I spend more time reading than writing oh no!)
1- From You I Cannot Hide by SailorChibi. Its Steve/ Tony and I cannot recommend it enough. The BDSM, the relationship, the writing itself. SC is one of my fav fanfic authors- very talented and this story in particular is one of my absolute favs (though I don’t read any of the age play stuff, not my thing. Still a v talented author though).
2- Merchant King of War and Woe by blakefancier. Its Steve/ Howard, a guilt pleasure of mine that really does not have enough content. Seriously, why do more people not ship this pairing??
3- Don’t Say It by bibliomaniac. Its Steve/ Tony/ Bucky and features autistic non verbal Tony. Hold f u c k this story was amazing. I read the premise and wasn’t sure about it, but at the time I had much love for Tony/Bucky/Steve so gave it a shot. I am very happy I did because its fucking amazing. Please read it.
4- Bell Tolls by esama. I read this a few days ago but holy Christ what a take on soul mate tropes. I love soul mates, but they do hold a great potential for dystopia that’s not capitalized on much and this story really goes above and beyond there. Its not too long but holy damn is it good.
5- Most anything by blue_jack that I’ve read. Usually I’m not overly fond of sex scenes- they often feel needless and overdone. But there’s an expectation in fanfic to write it and for the life of me my asexual ass cannot figure out how to do it. I’m not squeamish about sex or sex related things so I don’t understand my aversion to writing it. Anyways when I looked up advice on how to write sex one of the things I read was to find an author who writes sex well and note what you like about their writing. blue_jack was the author that I found that writes the most interesting, dynamic, and in character sex scenes I’ve read (with a lot of Steve/ Tony). Seriously- its not all ‘insert A tab in B slot’, its focused a lot on character thought as well. This is the kind of sex scene I aspire to write because A- it feels more natural and B- blue_jack is just really good. Like r e a l l y good. Read their things!
Top Five OTPs:
1- IronPanther who is surprised lmao, no one given the sheer amount of content I write for them.
2- WinterIron. Again I’m sure no one is surprised.
3- IronStrange/ IronQuill pretty much equally
4- Tony/ Rhodey though I should write more of it
5- and, because I feel compelled to write one pairing that’s not an MCU pairing Damen/ Laurent from the Captive Prince series. Their relationship is a fucking RIDE.
Honorable mentions: Tony and literally every marvel character I haven’t mentioned minus like… Thanos and Pepper (no hate to Pep- I just don’t see the romance at all, and it was so hamfisted into the MCU basically only for the purposes of heterosexuality. Pepper deserves better, preferably Natasha tbh, and Tony obviously belongs with like Rhodey or something). Tony/Bucky/ T’Challa is an interesting pairing I want to explore more as well. Tony/Bucky/ Steve is another long standing pairing I like. Sam/ Bucky or Sam/Steve too- I love Sam with either character, but not both at the same time. Sam/ Rhodey is also very cute, as well as Sam/ T’Challa. Hope/ Rhodey is another unexpected preference of mine that I’ve included in a few things. I ship like 95% of the MCU with itself minus pretty much any canon pairing (as IF Hope would ever date Scott- she’s way too competent for him. She should be with Pepper or something, or literally anyone but Scott or Tony tbh).
Extra Bonus Points to all my BroTPs that are too long to list, but also basically consists of the MCU with itself tbh.
Top Five Songs:
1- Gamekeeper by Jessie Reyez. Its fucking amazing.
2- Colors by Halsey. (Also Gasoline)
3- Mz Hyde by Halestorm
4- Hit and Run by LoLo
5- The World is Ugly by My Chemical Romance (among a lot of others).
Honorable mentions: Fall Out Boy’s last 3 albums. They got some bangers ok.

— ✧ ( ROBERT DOWNEY JR. )?, NO, THAT’S JUST ( TONY STARK ) also known as ( IRON MAN ) ! THEY HAD CHILDREN WITH ( PEPPER POTTS ) AND THEY ARE ( TAKEN ). I HEAR THEY’RE ( LOYAL & ECCENTRIC ) BUT TEND TO BE ( ARROGANT & PROUD ). THEY WORK AS A ( CHAIRMAN OF STARK INDUSTRIES/PROFESSOR OF BIOPHYSICS, ENGINEERING, COMPUTER SCIENCE) AT PARAGON ACADEMY. { jp, 20, he/his, gmt }
It is I, JP. Official moron. Presenting to you, another shit intro post:-
I’ll try to keep this one short since he has five (?) kids, and I’d like to plot with the demon children before setting anything too concrete.
I think everything so far in the MCU is considered canon? Please correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve made enough of a fool of myself.
I imagine after all this time, Tony still blames himself for everything.
He probably quit alcohol sometime after Pepper got pregnant, but with these explosions he’s definitely going to hit his alcohol cabinet once more. Blaming himself for not protecting not just his children, but the students they brought in.
Whilst Pepper is CEO, Tony acts as chairman. He needed to take a step back, from Stark Industries and SHIELD. The former proved to be good for him, the latter did not. He was desperate, didn’t know what to do with himself (RE: Spiderman Homecoming).
At first, Tony was against the idea of Paragon. For a number of reasons. But, eventually, he gave in, which also meant funding. However, he doesn’t agree with the way the villain’s children are being treated, and likes to cause a fuss about it every meeting.
However, he decided to teach three subjects to keep himself busy. Hates homework. Rarely sets it.
LOVES HIS CHILDREN TO THE MOON AND BACK !!!
Might not be the best father in any way, but he definitely tries.
Expect dad jokes, trying to be cool, random snapchats at 4 am.
POTENTIAL PLOTS: anything and everything. If anyone has d*sc*rd, hit me up: jp#2331

alright, responding to each of your points:
1. there, i guess you do have a point. but the dceu isn't going to be as closely connected as all the mcu films are, so we probably won't get any culminating event like infinity war/endgame. (unless the snyder cut does get released and is enough of a hit that wb lets zack finish his series of films as intended, but i don't think it's likely. SC release yes, the rest no)
2. there's no confirmation that he's out. as he said in the men's health article, the suit is still in his closet. he's yet to deliberately say he's no longer superman, he's still expressing interest in continuing to play the character. it's probably like the situation with chris pine and star trek, where cavill demanded a higher salary and couldn't come to an agreement with WB so he walked away. but with the pine thing, star trek 4 is now back on and the full cast is expected to return. cavill never actually had another superman project in the works, so it's not like his refusal to agree on a new salary got anything cancelled. but until he says "i'm not superman" or wb officially casts someone new, he's still our superman. wb/dc still has gal, jason, ezra, and margot signed for upcoming films. and of course there are other returning ss cast members too, who will be back for that sequel/reboot, like viola davis, joel kinnaman, and jai courtney. so the only person wb/dc has lost is affleck. (other cast members haven't exactly said they're out but also haven't guaranteed dceu returns, like ray fisher.)
3. she has only canonically cried about him once so far. if you're saying she'll lose him again in 1984, we don't know that. obviously there are some test screening leaks so people are basing their predictions off of that, but we don't officially know anything till we see the film. there could always be a twist that brings him to modern day, like being granted immortality or something. i don't know. just don't go by leaks, things could easily change in the next 6 months.
also i never said the dceu never had any tragedies????? my post is just about how the fandom is feeling right now, because everyone's hyped for the future slate of films. (except for those james gunn antis ignoring the existence of tss, but i'm sure they'll still be watching and commenting on the trailer, once it's out.) i never said the movie universe itself is all cupcakes and rainbows.
4. yeah, only dceu proper film out this year was shazam. but aquaman was still in theaters right at the beginning of the year, so it only had its billion dollar milestone in 2019. and yes, joker isn't technically the main dceu. but you really think dceu fans will ignore it just 'cause it isn't part of the connected universe? that logic is like mcu fans not going to see the xmen or deadpool films. and i know you all did see them and hyped them like hell. so dceu fans do technically also have joker and we're celebrating its success, both critically and financially.
the end.
major fandoms at the end of 2019 be like...
#lawonderlandwriter#replies#the post isn't intended to be about the franchise quality#just fandom attitude#in the month of december#or well the year as a whole i guess but primarily now

The post about the plot N*tasha deserves: servo-spiked-the-punch tumblr com/post/143705746185/sebstcns-what-people-dont-realise-is-if-they Without YuckyNat, N*t and B*cky will become irrelevant.
okay listen. there’s no way bucky will become irrelevant anytime soon. they might not have given him the character development he deserves so far, but we all know steve will die in avengers 3 or 4. sebastian and anthony both signed on for 9 movies so i guess it’s safe to say that bucky and sam will be major players in the mcu going forward
as for natasha, i’m not sure. they might kill her off. they have a bunch of new characters so they might actually just pull the trigger and kill every single one of the original avengers at some point (i’d be devastated to see steve go but a stunt like that would manage to impress even me!). sc*rjo likes playing natasha but i don’t think she wants to build her whole career around superhero movies. plus it’s been months since she last stole a role from an actress of colour so she must be getting antsy
there’s a chance they’ll force b*ckynat down our throats but i just seriously don’t get why people are still excited about it like? both of them are complex characters and they don’t magically become irrelevant just because they’re not in a romantic relationship with each other lmao what the hell? also, the mcu has no idea how to handle natasha’s character and the writers are incapable of giving her a healthy romantic subplot so they’d just fuck it up!! it’d be like st*ron and br*cenat all over again and everybody and their mother would be extremely disappointed so why are they still obsessed with the idea of b*ckynat in the mcu? just let it go already lads
#anti buckynat#you know they would only make b*ckynat canon just so natasha could give bucky a chance to redeem himself#that's exactly what the writers made her do when she was in a 'relationship' with bruce as well#marvel hates women!!!!#Anonymous#answered

2019 in a nutshell...
(The following is a copy of the draft I sent with this year’s Christmas card)
This is a self-proclaimed princess and expert on all things WWII and the American Revolution, Quisla Alexander...
This is a world-reknowned quizzer and founding member of the UNC Achordants, Dino Alexander...
.. and we're all here to play "PASSWORD 2019!"
It turned out that aside from living life 12 days at a time with nary a time in between to take a breath, stuff happens.
JANUARY: The year began atypically on the road, as Quisla & I were pulling up the drive after spending a week in Williamsburg at Busch Garden's Christmas Town. It's a theme park experience that should be experienced at least once.
THE PASSWORD IS... Beginnings. Not just the beginning of the year, but also what would be the beginning of a romance rekindled between myself and the theme park.
FEBRUARY… Found a new go-to at Legendary Karaoke…
THE PASSWORD IS… Valerie… by Amy Winehouse.
MARCH: No one ever tells you that to be a contestant on Jeopardy! is akin to being part of a family (or the MCU). The family came together as one when the father passed along word that he is fighting Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
THE PASSWORD IS... united. Never have I seen people come together to use their talents to emphasize our shared humanity.
APRIL: For reasons stated above, I couldn't make it out to a Hurricanes games (would love to see one in 2020, though), but Don Cherry said a thing... that the Carolina Hurricanes, and by extension its fans, are a Bunch of Jerks. We went on to embrace the moniker all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals, while Don Cherry ended up saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and got fired as a result.
THE PASSWORD IS... Karma. Enough said.
MAY: Grand Turk, Curacao, and the Dominican Republic... and also back to Busch Gardens... and still time to sneak a jaunt to Savannah to cheer on Quisla to further glory as she takes her first swim in the Jeopardy! pool.
THE PASSWORD IS... World. It's big. It's beautiful. And 9 times out of 10, it's not out to get you sick.
JUNE: After seeing Sweet Tea Shakespeare's production of Richard III, I went on a run with my vegan sister from a well-to-do mister Christina. I also took in my first Fayetteville Woodpeckers game. The first of many. And also the first of many to come. I maintain Miguelangel Sierra cost us the championship, but that's neither here nor there.
THE PASSWORD IS... Activity. It's out there if you can find it.
JULY: Whose friends get married and have a game night afterwards? My friends do. Specifically, my friends Don & Cindy do. Then it's off to LA for Throwdown Homecoming, which was nothing short of a success. I just wish I had more time to do stuff instead of popping down for the weekend.
THE PASSWORD IS... Homecoming. Great to see the whole gang again.
AUGUST: Exit TCONA. Enter Trivia Nationals. Even with half of the attendance of previous Vegas events, it was still a rousing good time.
THE PASSWORD IS... Pai-gow. Never pass it up.
SEPTEMBER: Spent a weekend at another homecoming of sorts - my home park, Carowinds on the NC/SC border, where "each day's a holiday and every day is Saturday".
THE PASSWORD IS... Fury. As in "Fury 325". That and Copperhead Strike should be on every coasterphile's to-ride list.
OCTOBER: I don't remember when Fayetteville ever hosted a food festival as large as Taco Fest outside of Festival Park, which they really should have used instead of the Crown, but that's neither here nor there. But it was awesome, as was Comic-Con. I think next year with the two cons, I will eventually work up the courage to get a picture taken with a former Power Ranger. While holding my TyrannoRanger helmet. I still have to get back into fighting shape though. And also.. VIDEO GAMES LIVE! Never a concert, always an event. And this time, free because of being what my co-workers call "an expert guesser". Thanks, Reward the Fan!
THE PASSWORD IS... Tacos. That’s all. Just tacos.
NOVEMBER: Q and I took advantage of the fact that a lot of people like to get a jump on the holidays by visiting an old house in Haymount that hosted an open house with free finger foods.
THE PASSWORD IS... Jolly. As in making jolly with fellow jolly makers.
Then I remember... DECEMBER brings me back to you. Quisla takes another job at another place, while I face the reality that, as of this writing, I'm 32 days away from the end of my 30s. Our new hire Kim says that "40 is the new 20".
THE PASSWORD IS... Hoping. As in "I'm hoping she's right, and I make my fifth decade on this crazy sphere a memorable one."
And here's hoping that 2020 is all YOU want it to be. Until then... Be. Good. Humans. 😊

My Favourite Movies of the Year
Here are some of my favourite films I saw in the cinema this year. They are not the best films of the year, but they are my favourites I saw as god intended us to see big screen entertainment.
1. Avengers Infinity War.
If you haven’t been living in a cave this year, you will know all about the fact that the Russo’s and Marvel made a film that snapped half of the universe out of existence and left us all with a hollow feel in our stomach’s and tears in our eyes. The film was probably the most hyped movie of the year and despite some nit-picking (mostly not about the film itself), the film more than lived up to that hype. So much so that most fans are still waking up with anxiety about Peter Parker saying ‘I don’t want to go’. Marvel and the Russo’s achieved a movie with heart and soul and managed to leave us on a downer very much like Lucas left us with in Empire all those years ago. Infinity War was the years biggest movie event and makes my list because it was bonkers and utterly amazing.
2. Andhadhun
Ok I love James Hadley Chase and Andhadhun is an amazingly constructed noir that ticks all those classical boxes and still manages to leave the audience gasping at the end. Sriram Raghavan’s film was so well done that the studio didn’t understand or support it and it still emerged a huge success. Bravo for that alone but the film was the best Hindi film I saw this year by a country mile never shying away from the genre it was. Never making any compromises for the ‘commercial realities’. The actors were outstanding and this film was the icing on the cake for a year of the underdog at the Hindi box office.
3. Paddington 2
It released last year in the UK and I think I saw it here last year as well but I am sneaking it in as its release spanned 2017-18. It is hard to top the first film which was lovely and full of heart but Paddington 2 managed to do it by not just continuing that wonderful spirit but by being amazingly topical and political as well. The UK is going through a time of soul searching (as are many places in the world) and Paddington 2 unabashedly says it’s ok to be good and that being good means doing good. It’s a wonderful sentiment and a truly lovely film that makes us want to believe the best in people everywhere.
4. A Quiet Place
John Krasinski. Who knew? The actor best known for being the forlorn character in the US version of the office (and for being married to Emily Blunt) stepped into the big leagues with a sci-fi horror that blew most people’s socks off. This film centres around such an auditory experience yet keeps the viewer hooked with its emotional track around a family trying to stick together in the most tragic and difficult circumstances. A Quiet Place was an absolute triumph of a film and Krasinski became a filmmaker to be reckoned with.
5. Black Panther
Who could leave this film out? If Infinity War was the most hyped, this Marvel entry was the most talked about. The cast, the crew, the flavour and the success - everything made this movie a slam dunk in many different ways. Most importantly though, it was a brilliant film and a fabulous entry into the MCU. Ryan Coogler had made the amazing Creed before this so he was used to dealing with legacy but he managed to assemble a cast of such power that the film simply came to life. Wakanda was real and the joy of watching an all non-white cast in a film of this magnitude was simply too much for most to handle. That was something that made the film a torch-bearer. The cast’s and crew’s performance in making a brilliant film had nothing to do with their colour. They are just artists of immense talent and I look forward to seeing them all again in the announced Black Panther 2.
6. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
Ok so The Rock has no place around best acting or film awards according to many but for me, he is the epitome of big screen entertainment. Jumanji was a gender swapping look at the world of videos games within the mythology of the first Robin Williams film. It released at the end of the year in the US and in January here and came out with The Last Jedi. It held its own against that titan (due to madness from the Star Wars community) and even surpassed the Lucasfilm epic in many foreign markets. The Rock is pure entertainment and joined with Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillian, Jumanji was a total blast and I will be waiting for the next round sometime in 2020.
7. Mission Impossible: Fall Out
Not more from Tom Cruise they said. Not more Ethan Hunt. But Mission Impossible and Cruise proved the skeptics wrong with what was possibly the best action movie of the year. Cruise is seriously pushing the age limits with his amazing stunts and the MI franchise after the last three films is in a stronger place than it has ever been. It probably now just a question of when Cruise decides that the wear and tear on his body is too much. Certainly knowing that he does a-lot of these stunts himself is a huge part of buying into these films. This one was thrilling and honest and I loved every minute of it.
8. Annihilation
Ok so it was not seen by me in the theatres but it makes my list because I loved it and because it was released in select theatres somewhere. This mind-bending Natalie Portman all female sc-fi film was beautifully shot and was also pretty taut and tense. The set up was intriguing and the end was fascinating. I am a huge fan of the film though I know it was divisive amongst many. What really worked for me was the twists and the thrills. I didn’t hate the fact that they sent a group of women to do what usually in Hollywood is a man’s job and I loved the end. Really clever in my opinion even though the events leading up to it was slightly opaque but that is fine according to me.
9. Hereditary
Everyone loves a good horror movie and everyone is scared out of their wits by a great one. Hereditary is a great one and Toni Collette is at the centre of it. This deeply disturbing and equally frightening tale is and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but for sheer horror, it was unmatched in the films I saw in 2018. A lot was made of Mother but this film trumped that in every way according to me and was a lot more shocking and visceral. It was a brilliantly made film as well, powerful and with plenty of beautiful shots and sound work. If you haven’t seen it, you need to in a dark room with a blanket and plenty of company.
10. Into The Spiderverse
Finishing my films with one of the most recent. Into The Spiderverse is an animated film from the Spider-man universe and it was absolutely brilliant. Again, bringing us a hero who is not white, Miles Morales could not have had a better big screen debut than this amazingly animated and written film which touched our hearts as well as gave comic fans so much to salivate over. Without giving us repeated origin stories, the film brings us into what it takes to be Spider-man and by giving us so many versions from alternate realities, we see that who is under the mask is not as important as the hero inside it. Stunning with a booming soundtrack and plenty of wit and humour, Into The Spiderverse could well be my favourite Spider-man film ever.
So that is my list. As I said, there have been better films probably but these are my favourites. I thoroughly enjoyed them all and would wholeheartedly recommend them.
