digging into my OWN history yet again

the funniest part is how hard and how fast i fell. post 1 is the first ever mcr post on my blog, post 2 is the same photo less than 1 month later. it was over for me.

ok as far as i know, post 1 is the first srs mcr appearance on this blog. i reblogged that 7pm on june 17, 2022, right after bonn night 1 and a day before my bee day (so technically i was there for the eu tour ^_^) under my #people and #music general tags. i couldnt find any other interactions w desertmp3 before this post, so i think .. i found their blog under #mcr, scrolled, reblogged the one photo then left. no other mcr post til jun 25 night. jun 25 or 26 i went strawberry picking and i very very clearly remember RE-listening to 3 cheers. i had it downloaded by then. i didnt know if i liked it but i kept listening over and over 😳 i remember the first time i listened to 3 cheers, i was surprised that i knew the words to the helena chorus. i spoke the words before they came up, it was weirddd. what happens when you grow up around the biggest band in the world.

according to my spotify liked songs, i listened to 3 cheers june 17 and liked these songs. i distinctly remember disliking deathwish for the longest time. i also listened to bullets (i remember only enjoying romance lol).

im not sure if jun 17 was the first time i listened to 3 cheers, but i always "like" songs the first time i listen to an album to mark it as "listened". if jun 17 WAS the day i for some reason decided to delve into this band, idk why. i was in a music slump, having gotten sick of replaying my huge liked songs playlist. i very rarely got into specific artists / albums. seeing as i didnt seem to be a desertmp3 follower pre-post 1, itd make sense that i listened to 3 cheers/bullets then looked them up on tumblr. again, why? maybe i just randomly thought of them, maybe ppl i followed were talking about the tour, maybe spotify recommended 3 cheers to me... and RIGHT on a day i treasure and celebrate. sometimes it all feels like a romance film. she was always there but i never saw her until i really needed her.

i think this photo was the first time id seen gerard outside 2006 (the “#hii” 😭). i engaged w my chem a few times under my #music tag (this post is particularly funny.. my tags.. (ALSO 70 THOUSAND NOTES. MY CHEM WAS SOOOOOOO BACK IN 2022)) then BOOM july came and i was in full throttle #mcr mode (aside: the way my tagging system works is that i mostly use general tags until im crazy about something. then it gets a special tag). ive talked about this development before.

i talked about my chem wayyyy more on twitter than tumblr the first few months. so im going to get an account archive (last time failed i think the size is too big lol..) and try to find those tweets. hopefully i had something to say june 17.

im not sure why documenting this is important to me. i suppose i want to remember everything i could about something so so so important to me.

for the folks going to the mcr concerts in bonn:

you can bring your own beverages (max. 0,5 l), but they'll have to be either a PET bottle (softplastic) or Tetra Pak (boxed/carton). if you're thinking of buying drinks on site, prices start at 4,50 € for water alone. btw, while umbrellas/folding chairs/... aren't allowed, there are going to be lockers you can use (idk how many or if you'll need cash. bring 1 or 2 € just in case, otherwise can use the filthy lockers at the central station (underground) for 2-4 €). also filming isn't allowed but.. uh, yeah we'll see how that goes

would you say the intensity of queueing is more of a thing for their US shows vs europe? cause I got to the Cardiff queue around 11:00 and still managed to get barrier somehow 🙌 hell at eden 2 we didn't queue till like 3:00 and I was only third row (again 🙌 🙌)

Hmmm I can’t say for sure. I’ve only ever been to shows in the US/Canada so I can only go off what I saw online. Just based on that I would say I think people would start lining up earlier the longer the tour went on. I saw people leave Bonn night 1 and get on line for Bonn night 2.

I feel like in general this kinda plays into a larger trend happening in the music industry right now. I only really pay attention to mcr in this sort of detail, but just based on social media it’s obvious that concerts are not about the experience of live music anymore. They’re about producing content, and not usually for the artists themselves, but the people attending the shows. Front row for Harry Styles? Great! Now if you catch a video of him doing something funny and you upload it first you’re guaranteed tens of thousands of retweets. Similar with live streams. I think they started off with the intent of simulating the experience for people who couldn’t attend. For one-off shows like the Shrine this makes sense imo. Now, I feel like they’ve become, even subconsciously, an instant clout magnet. People still name drop the shrine live-streamer and even now if people have a “good” live stream it becomes fandom famous.

I just think attending shows and getting a good spot has become more of a bragging rights thing for some people. People, including myself, saw how early people were lining up and decided to get there slightly earlier, but that bar keeps getting pushed back to the point where only a select few can benefit.

AGAIN I’m just reflecting on the trend here. Do whatever you want, I just don’t like the vibe of it. Not just for mcr (have you seen the 21p fans line up for 9 days…), but for the consumption of the concert experience in general.

mychemicalromance: Due to the current Covid 19 Coronavirus Pandemic, we keep having to make difficult decisions – again, to postpone many shows originally scheduled for Europe this year – specifically Prague, Bologna, Bonn, Kiev, Moscow & St. Petersburg - until 2021. We must put the health of our fans and families first. We believe you understand this decision. We cannot wait until it is safe to come back and play. For those who say that MCR have now resolved everything, here are a few things they haven't revealed yet. Feel free to add more:

1. The time travelling posts:

they still go and change the time of their posts and on wednesday I witnessed it myself for the first time when they changed the time on the post teasing the summoning video. Suddenly, 15 min. Before the video was released they changed it to the future.

2. Japan:

It is clear from the past decades that they all love Japan but why do they all post so much about going to Japan when they go to Australia and New Zealand first? Especially because they post it on the official MCR account and not their private ones...

3. The missing Europe shows:

Either the site promoting the show in Bonn made a mistake OR there are more continental Europe sgows planned. They said the MCR would only play 6 shows in continental Europe- which would exclude shows in England and Ireland. But Until now we only have 2-3 shows in Europe, namely in Germany and Italy (and Russia if they count it as Europe). So where are the other 3 shows?!?!?!
