Okay last one for tonight, Nicky isn't the biggest fan of board games or puzzles truly he's not that kind of nerd but when the guys play board games and invite him or do puzzle games I think a part of Nicholas wakes up within him and suddenly he knows all the rules and gets so into solving the puzzle / using game mechanics.

It's a subtle shift but whenever there's disputes on rules Nicky from the corner pipes up with an explanation memorized which stops everyone in their tracks because he was paying 20% attention to everything else. For puzzles and puzzle games he just gets really focused and quiet and suddenly he's already figured it out without saying a word.

Okay I have a LOT of thoughts. I finished all of the teens as cats (just the pcs) and will be explaining most of my thoughts i had during designing them. Idk how many other people in the dndads fandom used to be warrior cats kids but if you were, this post is made for you specifically.

Remember these are very stylized cats and their genetics will not work like real cat’s genetics do. As long as you keep that in mind we cool. Also all of the teens are apprentices and this is gonna be a long post so buckle in

Ok so Scary was arguably the easiest design for me, I struggled a bit with the stripes but I ended up really liking how they turned out. A lot of her fur look very sharp and pointy but actually have rounded edges bc she tries really hard to be edgy lol

I considered giving her black fur and markings but I liked the idea of her being a very muted brown so it looked like she has that type of fur, but really doesn’t. The skull stripes are just for fun, and the purple eye is a nod to how common she is designed with purple, and also the mix of love and fear. The marking over her eye is to represent eyeshadow if that makes sense?

I imagine her being in Riverclan, I was thinking Shadowclan at first but I really like the idea of this edgy and brooding teenager knowing Shadowclan is just that, but she’s not in that clan. Also, Riverclan is surrounded by water and guess which family is connected to water? That’s right, the Stamplers. Even though she is in Riverclan, she’s not originally from the clans. She and her mother were traveling loners and came across the clans, and Veronica met a Riverclan cat and decided they should join. Scary and Terry (still trying to come up with a warrior name) used to have the same name but Scary hated that so she changed hers to Scary.

Lincoln was a bit more difficult and I wasn’t sure really what to do with him? But I knew I wanted his fur to be brown and if he was just standing he’d be very tall and kinda lanky. He has the shortest fur out of everyone and is easily the fastest, and the only one who can keep up is Scary. Most of the stripes are nods to the fact he is a soccer player. The face stripes being face paint, the hind legs being socks and those leg shields soccer players wear that I have no idea what they’re called in english. The tail is also kinda like the socks I guess? Yeah. It’s what inspired the leg ones at least. The eyes are different colors because I liked the idea of including something to represent yellow and red cards. The red one is actually just a really bright amber that looks red.

He is in windclan, but was found by Grant and Marco as a kit on the edge of the territory. He was barely one moon and they very quickly decided they need to take care of him, but they couldn’t stay in the clan to do so. So, the two left their respective clans and raised him, but when he was older (still apprentice age) they let him join Windclan. So now he’s there. As for his name? I have not figured one out. At least not a prefix, but I think it would be really funny if his future suffix is kick

Taylor…. Taylor was such a struggle oh my god. Everything but the pose at least. I wanted to include black because I thought it’d fit him more?? But I didn’t know what to do for markings or if I should’ve even included markins and for a while I was considering making him a black and white cat but I didn’t like how that looked. Then I tried making him an albino cat because I gave him redish eyes (hinting at his demon heritage in canon) but I was like no. This is not Taylor. so I made him a fully black cat which I think is the look I like best?? Yeah.. Now for the markings. The biggest one is there because I wanted to include his jacket, and the ones on the hind legs are for boots and the tail one is just to blend it all in. The ears and head fur is kinda like his hair.

Okay so he’s in Thunderclan bc he should get to have his main character syndrome still and Thunderclan is my least favourite clan (mostly a joke) and I think all of the other Close-Foster-Freeman are also in Thunderclan, or at least they were before they died or left. Idk his family is so weird because of the whole timeline shift and I have no clue how to make that happen in a warriors au. So. Some help would be appreciated. His name is Bay because it sounds like Tay which.. Taylor. Yeah. I could go with his warrior name being Bayswift but. I think that is a bit on the nose?? Another option his having his suffix being infront of his prefix and then it could be Rapidbay

Normal was. Not really a struggle? Mostly with his body markings. I knew I wanted him to have an undertone of blue because of Teeny and blue being Love. Also why his eyes are very bright blue. The head markings were the easiest because it looks like he has a mask or helmet of some sort, and he has a lot more rounded features than everyone else. the body markings are also kind of like he’s wearing something? If that makes any sense at all. I also think he would look more like Rebecca than Lark and Sparrow, at least color wise, because then nobody would know who is actually his dad. And even if he did look like them, they are identical. Idk I just think it would be interesting if Hero looked like Lark and Sparrow and Normal like Rebecca because of the whole chosen thing and all. They are from different litters btw, but they were both the only ones from their respective litters.

Now if you’ve been keeping track you’d know he is in Shadowclan, and that is because opposite from Scary I think the idea of him being in this dark and brooding clan is hilarious because he is soo cheery and happy all the time and almost all of the cats in the clan dislike it. His mentor is (was) Tony Pepperoni. He is the only one with a mentor so far. I think he’s not really considered a part of the clan, because both Lark and Sparrow were originally born in Windclan and switched to Shadowclan, Sparrow for Rebecca and Lark for Sparrow. I think Rebecca would’ve joined the clan when she was a fully grown cat but still considered young in warriors terms, so around 20 moons which in real life is almost 2 years. So, he’s only a fourth clan cat. Now for his name I am not sure (again) but I think his suffix would be mask and his prefix.. maybe I’ll just google the most basic warrior cats prefix and take that one

LETS GO! in regards to the character ask! Break down your thoughts on Lark :)

• How I feel about this character

Ohhhhh my god Lark makes me UNWELL, that boy!!! Everything about him!!!! That utter disaster of a man is everything to me! He is actually what set off my dndads hyperfixation during s2 when I thought about him a little too hard

• All the people I ship romantically with this character

Nicky Swift!!! We all know Nark is my absolute favorite, I think Nicky is a lighthearted presence that Lark really benefits from. Nicky makes him laugh, and that’s something he really needs

Grant!!! I think there was a point in time that he and Lark were both seriously struggling with their mental health, and the pair of them would spiral downwards together. Grant got to a better place before Lark did, so he was the one to put a stop to their self destructive games. Eventually, Lark started looking to Grant as a port in the storm, his lighthouse to keep him from cracking up against the rocks.

TJ! Kind of! I love the idea of them sharing either one super awkward kiss they don’t talk about, OR that they hooked up once in TJ’s office and don’t talk about it.

• My non-romantic OTP for this character

Oh easily, my brotp is him and Sparrow. Lark and Sparrow care about each other more than anybody else in the world. They are so deeply entangled, I don’t think they could ever successfully live separately. The most they could ever manage would be two houses that share a yard, and even that would be a struggle.

• My unpopular opinion about this character

Hmm! That’s tough! Idk if it counts as unpopular but maybe that the Jimmy Buffet shirt that Normal had was his. He secretly loves that chill beachy vibe, but would rather die than ever let anybody know that.

• One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Ough god so many things! I wish we’d gotten to him interact with the other kiddads. I wish we’d gotten him and Normal to have a conversation about Normal’s parentage, and how he left him to Sparrow bc he’s been a mess forever.

…. also I wish we’d gotten Nark but I know that was always wishful thinking

OH OH AND! The second Normal turned out to be a cleric, I thought he would use a spell to fix Lark and Henry. I always really wanted the pair of them to get to take a stab at fixing it

Finally cleaned this up so here’s my DnDads ultimate ship opinions list. I was waiting until after s2 ended to clean this up in case I had any final opinion changes with the last few episodes. Please don’t bash me for any of these. The DnDads fandom is generally very nice but shipping discourse is something that can get heated no matter the fandom.

Dads

Henry Darryl: very neutral. I understand the ship I just never fully got on the boat

Henry Glenn: absolutely fucking feral about them do not get me started on Glennry

Darryl Glenn: feral in a different way that I don’t know how to describe other than toxic yaoi in the way that they’re damaged but refuse to talk about it so they kiss about it instead

Loveeeeeeee polydads but only as Henry/Glenn/Darryl. Not really a Ron shipper I love him and Samantha too much. Ron and Glenn’s friendship is very important to me though

In terms of Jodie, I don’t really ship him with any of the main dads, ESPECIALLY not Glenn. Even if Jimmy didn’t play Jodie I’d still never ship them. Wish Scamster was real and not completely a scam because they’re literally a crackship become real except it was never a crackship before canon. It’s surprising to me that they weren’t really shipped beforehand

Henry Mercedes: THE T4T OF ALL TIME BABEYYYYY. Absolutely iconic couple, fate was in their favor with how they met they were destined for each other

Darryl Carol: After hearing how Darryl talked about his family in Heaven, I was actually really happy they ended up not getting divorced. They clearly had a rough patch as seen in s1, but they genuinely love each other and I love how devoted to her Darryl is. The little finger puppet he made of her in the time out zone… :,)

Glenn Morgan: GLORGAN!!!!!!!!! Oh my god these two tear me apart. I am feral for Glorgan angst there’s too much to work with. More people need to start calling them Glorgan instead of Morglenn please please please please pretty please indulge me in my silly ship name

Ron Samantha: sobbing. They’re so sweet. The distinction that Samantha is also a little silly is very important to me. They love each other so fucking much

Nicky Sparrow: didn’t realize how much I love them for a good while but when I did oh god I love them so so much. T4T it’s so real to me that they’re both trans

Nicky Lark: used to like it but yall mischaracterize Nicky so much in fics. If yall want toxic yaoi just ship Grant and Lark I’m so serious

Nicky Terry: sobs. They were best friends. I don’t personally ship them but the fact that Terry said he was his best friend… that line rattles around in my brain so often

Nicky Grant: recently learned this might get shipped and has THE coolest ship name. Crossfire I love you but for the ship name alone

Sparrow Terry: I think I’ve seen this shipped a few times but only in the context of Terry/Nicky/Sparrow. Not my personal cup of tea though

Sparrow Grant: I don’t see this shipped too often but they have the worst ship name ever /aff. Wtf is a spant lol. Also I’m too much team transfem Sparrow to feel comfortable shipping this

Lark Terry: do not know the appeal of Gun Control but their ship name is fun

Lark Grant: toxic yaoi central. They both need intense therapy but them both being so fucked up is what makes them interesting not that that’s healthy though

Terry Grant: I see them more in a qpr place than anything romantic. I have one fic of them that’s bookmarked on Safari because I think about a part from it from time to time

In terms of s2 spouses I so desperately wished we could’ve seen more of them. We barely get to see them

Nicky Cassandra: Telling Taylor his dad was a good man and that she misses him every day makes me think they parted on good terms. But then Nicky disappeared because of FBI shit. In another life maybe they could’ve worked.

Sparrow Rebecca: more ugly sobbing. I’m unsure on my sparroace thoughts if they’d end up getting divorced post-finale but I know they’re not fully separating or breaking up. They really are in love but it’s unconventional and messy.

Terry Veronica: I think the reveal that Terry is infertile is a nice touch to their relationship. It sounds weird to say and I feel like I might word this all weirdly. Him being unable to have bio kids but finding love in someone who wants to raise a kid with him anyways. Veronica finding new love again after a supposedly abusive relationship. Both of those combined is something I really love.

Grant Marco: Canon gays ftw. The Titanic episode was so generous in letting us get to see their dynamic. Obviously Grant still has a long way to go in finding self love but I’m so happy he found someone who can support him and loves him back like this.

Teens

Normal Scary: ugly sobbing over them I love them so much. Cradling my madomagi and tma aus with them as madohomu and jmart

Normal Taylor: yearning for the early s2 days like when they went to Sonic and made some devious plan off screen I wish they had more silly interactions together. Was truly fed with the kareoke intro and them bonding over costume making for a minute. Tayloak could be so interesting if there was more material to work with

Normal Link: Childhood BFFs to Lovers; I wish they could’ve hung out more as kids but all that happened

Normal Hermie: I get the hype but I have personal reasons for feeling neutral on them that I wish I could get over. Good soup though /ref

Scary Taylor: see them too much as a sibling dynamic to ever ship them

One last thing before dropping off the face of the earth. For fans of The People We're Not, I present you my kiddads & Nicky/Nick/Nicholas post season 2 fix-it.

Sparrow is hungover. He’s been trying to pretend all morning that he’s not, but he fell asleep with the help of a bottle of wine and there’s no denying the pounding behind his eyes and the nausea around the edges is a hangover. Fuck. 

If he wasn’t enough of a fuck he’s doing his damndest to add alcoholism on top. 

He doesn’t think he could feel worse before there’s a crack in the air and a familiar fiery portal opens in the middle of his kitchen. 

Sparrow grabs for the nearest knife. A pairing one he had used to cut up an apple when he was still pretending like he wasn’t going to barf up his breakfast. Whoever is about to step out of that portal there is a very good chance it isn’t going to be a friend. He scans the room for a better weapon. Normal and Hero are upstairs. Are they safe? Does he even think he could keep them safe at this point? “Whoa.” Nicky stumbles into the kitchen then instantly stumbles backward holding up a hand as if to ward off Sparrow’s attack but also clearly using it to hide from the light. “Wound up there Oak?”

Sparrow’s heart jumps. He waits for the punchline or words meant to start a fight. 

“Hey I have the-” Nicky waves down Sparrow’s hand. “I have the worst fucking headache and a missing arm.” Nicky rubs his eyes like he’s tired and like he’s-

“You got any of that migraine medicine hiding around here? My apartment’s all fucked up. None of my furniture, none of my shit. I have no idea what’s going on.” Sparrow can’t catch his breath. What the fuck is going on? And then a second later how the fuck did they miss this?

“Nicky?” Not Nick, or Nicholas. Nicky. Maybe for the first time in a long time? How did they- Nick’s so good at playing the part of Nicky, but if Nicky’s been gone for twelve years then Nick’s performance is a masterclass in acting. Still, they knew the three of them so well. Nicky’s been different enough during the last couple months that they should have noticed. Lark should have noticed.

“Yeah. One armed, Nicky. Fuck how long has Nick been out?” Nicky says “You’re acting like you’ve seen a ghost.” Nicky finally stops squinting against the lights and really looks at Sparrow. “Bro you look like shit.” 

Sparrow’s too scared to set the knife aside but he lowers the weapon just a bit, just in case this isn’t a trick.

“Nicky?” Sparrow takes a very unsteady breath. “What’s the last thing you remember?” Nicky laughs like it’s a silly question, but it’s not and Nicky realizes that a second later. His laugh breaks off like a chipped tooth, he looks to his right, scans the kitchen as his eyes grow wider. They land on Sparrow, and his breathing picks up. 

“There was a meeting,” Nicky says, “In a field. I remember walking there, but then” Nicky shakes his head, “It’s just flashes of hell. Sparrow? How long have I been gone?” Nicky’s eyes rake Sparrow up and down and Sparrow looks old on a good day, but today, hungover and unshaven, he must look to the long gone Nicky like the crypt keeper. 

“Twelve years,” Sparrow says.

most of this is me fleshing them out for the first time in a while, so bear with me

but to answer ur questions!!:

☆ at first, sparrow's a bit suspicious of luis - having only heard of him from lark, who framed him as a 'stranger who can do magic and took him into his house whilst unconscious'. not a great look. but the more lark's 'investigation' goes on, the more sparrow realizes that 1. lark isnt getting harmed in any way 2. lark is leaving the house more 3. he seems calmer these days so pretty quickly sparrow's a fan of luis, and is the one to break it to lark that he might have a crush. but all in all he's happy for lark

☆ i dont know if luis would fully register sparrow using healing magic in front of him at first and instead think 'no he just knows proper medicine and technique'. he’d ask sparrow where he learned proper medical skill and sparrow’d just look at him wide-eyed

☆ i believe that once sparrow learns that luis Does in fact have magic, a bit of that skepticism returns and he starts looking more into luis [not to the length that lark did,] but i think he's the one to find that luis and santi are part angel/celestial. which is very funny to me, as someone who enjoys nark as exes, cause that means that lark has to come to terms that he just went from a half demon boyfriend to a half angel. and sometimes thats just how life goes

☆ additionally, i think they figure out that luis isnt Aware that he's performing magic, or that neither of the sanchez boys know that theyre anything other than human. they have no idea how to break it to them, but this is where i have a Shred of an idea that could come into play.

☆ long story short, its kinda like a more deadly version of the steven universe episode Nightmare Hospital, where instead of a human patient, the person being treated is a ‘monster’ - in this case, theyre doodlerized patients. luis gets partially infected, and in the middle of lark rescuing him, santi gets infected too. d.a.d.d.i.e.s. manages to get them out of the hospital, now overrun with doodlerized patients and staff, and before they can fully doodlerize, their corruption takes form of them becoming humanoid-ic biblically accurate angels, with the wings, the several several eyes, and all glowy-like, managing to burn the infection out of them. they pass out before they can see themselves, and are taken into d.a.d.d.i.e.s. hq by lark, who’s now dealing with the fact that he almost got his boyfriend and his boyfriend’s kid doodlerized. eventually they turn back to normal and the truth is broken to them, but thats a whole other thing that i havent thought out yet

JOHNNY QUESTIONS <3

☆ okay as much as i love johnny, i don't know if he comes into play much with luis and santi. kind of in the way where nicholas and marco don't interact, or veronica and rebecca and cassandra don't interact with the other parents; i love them w all my heart but the dndads s2 spouses arent much aside from their relation to the kids, so idk if johnny’d talk much to these two.

☆ if they did though, i think they’d have a pretty mutually respectful relationship. john never grows out of the role of being the “responsible older sibling”, so he recognizes the level-headedness and responsibility that luis maintains, that of which none of the kiddads [minus maybe terry] carry. 

☆ actually, scratch that. thats their relationship if they ever talked long enough to get past the initial rancid vibes they get from each other [angel and demon vibes read terribly to each other]

☆ same reason in which santi and taylor are iffy around each other. and pulling it further, same reason why santiago is initially thrown off by lark and normal, having a bit of the doodler in the oak bloodline. he comes to love the two, obv, but he’s suspicious of lark for a lot longer than luis. i think either santi is more sensitive to vibes and fiendish/otherworldly aura than luis is, or luis simply takes this intuition and puts it aside, choosing to verify for himself first rather than acting on gut feeling.

☆ all that being said, i don't know if santi would get along with taylor in the end. i mean - and i say this with all the love in my heart - its taylor. pretty quickly he chalks up normal’s weird vibes to his stank but taylor’s also just Like That, yknow?

Hi again, (i’m the anon from earlier), sorry if this is annoying or too much but I have more questions about Johnny. Again don’t feel like you have to respond.

What is Johnny doing in season two? Especially with the kiddads betrayal of Nicky.

How well does he know Taylor? Is he around as like a fun uncle or is he absent like Nicky is?

In both season one and two what was his relationships with the other families (both the other dads and kiddads)?

also since you mentioned birdie (henry’s daughter) she is canon as of the “see you again” intro about schmeggan (or however that’s spelled) during the hell arc in season two. Henry comes in and sings a verse about how brad helped him and mercedes name their daughter. Will has also said he gives Henry another daughter every time he’s asked if birdie is real.

1) in season 2, i think he's a member of d.a.d.d.i.e.s up until the betrayal, but at the same time he's actively witnessing jodie's decline as glenn and morgan do their thing, so he spends like 65% of his time picking up jodie's slack as king of hell [which unfortunately, gives jodie more time to try to win morgan back. it doesnt work]. jodie being the world's most failed bisexual leaves a lot of work unfinished for john, who unfortunately is coping through his old man fashion sense of tropical shirts and big jeans. which i hastily drew

he was in hell when nicky was attacked; nicky portal'd to glenn mid-rave, who then brought nicky home and alerted john, morgan, and jodie about the situation. once stablized, nicky told them all what happened - this drives a bit of a wedge between him and john as john doesnt believe they should immediately cut off all contact ['maybe theyve been mind controlled'], especially considering nicky would be leaving behind taylor and cass. john returns to earth to talk to the kiddads himself, and while he does manage civil conversation for a solid minute, he's ambushed as well. he's able to escape fairly quickly [he didnt dismiss 100% of nicky's warnings, he knows the others pack a punch] and once home, he reconciles with nicky, agreeing to cut off contact

2) if not for the betrayal, john would be the kind of uncle that taylor sees like, once every 3 months but when he does he spoils the shit out of him - even more so than he already is. he'd get baby taylor the loudass toys that annoy the hell out of nicky and cass. he'd come back from hell with some kind of enchanted gift that may or may not cause a power outage.

after the betrayal, he cut off contact with earth, including taylor and cass. though he and nicky keep an eye on taylor, in case he ever needs them. every christmas, he drops off a gift in the middle of the night 'from santa'. its mostly just a figurine of whatever anime taylor's been most obsessed with that year. one year, taylor gets a customized enchanted funko pop of himself [because all uncles work at funko. or nintendo. whatever], only enchanted enough that it resembles taylor on a day to day basis, like it's outfit changes with him. cass has zero idea who 'santa' is

post betrayal for all the kiddads, he holds an eternal grudge against them. even after they and nicky truce in order to help the kids with the doodler's anchors, he cant bring himself to agree. he's on par with lark for title of 'skeptical battle ready uncle', but in a hawaiian shirt.

s1 oaks - nervous wreck recognizes nervous wreck. respects henry for having to wrangle lark n sparrow daily [somethin he's had to do now with walter]. he does think hen's too judgemental though. as johnathan, he sees henry as a huge pushover with no control over his kids. he still respects henry for having to deal with them everyday though. that shit's tough

s2 oaks - pre betrayal, he was friends with sparrow more than lark, as the former was mostly trying to find the least violent route for anything. he saw hero and norm like, once in their youth, at a family/friends bbq. meeting norm during the events of s2 he's struggling so hard not to say anything about his hygiene [heightened demon senses are Not helping him] but he's nice enough.

s1 wilsons - he's a little familiar with darryl pre-faerun, as nick frequently hangs out at grant's house, so darryl's a comforting guy to have around. he mostly knows grant as nick's gamer friend. paeden's on the same rank as lark n sparrow's rowdy-ness, he's just glad that the daddies tend to take him on every mission. as johnathan, darryl's the main dad that he respects [aside from jodie] as hes the one that least opposes his dad for being a cop, and mostly just opposes him whenever he's being kinda annoying.

s2 wilsons - pre betrayal, had a lot of comradery with grant about video games and weapons. unfortunately supplied grant with a lot of magical/hell weapons. doesnt forgive himself for that. linc honestly doesnt leave a huge impression on him, but he admires his honesty and heart.

s1 stamplers - neither johnny nor johnathan know what to think of ron. johnny thinks he's strange but harmless, johnathan doesnt know if ron's either clueless or knows something he doesnt. both of them solidly respect terry jr though. thats a stand-up kid right there!

s2 stamplers - probably closest with terry out of all the kiddads. they generally just vibe on the same kind of wavelength, and shared a taste in music, going to concerts before d.a.d.d.i.e.s. to be fully honest, he's a little scared of scary. he's never seen so much wrath in a teen before.

4) in some talking dad episodes, will actually mentions henry originally having a baby daughter named 'henrietta', who wouldve been home with mercedes during the soccer tournament!! and i will never forgive them for scrapping that idea!!

i love the enigma of birdie/henry's multiple daughters though. god i wonder if theyre estranged from lark n sparrow, that's unfortunate :[

Sparrow definitely has a belly button piercing and nothing in this world could convince me otherwise LOL he probably also has the basic piercings on the lobes of his ears too;

Ok ok Terry I don't think makes use of his piercings very often *anymore* but back in the day was probably rocking a shit ton- but I *think* just on his ears. Spiky goth-punk looking ones, as well as plugs. Oh maybe a nose ring as well;

Okay Grant! Aha. Grant has always *wanted* piercings and like I think he finds them very attractive but I don't think he ever actually bothered to get any? His friends have offered to do it for him but. How to put this. I think he likes the *idea* of getting a piercing, both for how it would look but also for how it would feel (y'know Grant and his issues lol), so much so that I think part of what stops him is the fear that it doesn't live up to his expectations? Does that make sense??? My brain is fried hopefully this makes a tiny bit of sense lol. He still thinks about getting some though haha. One day!

NICKY MY PIERCING MODEL ahem I am too shy and insecure of my own art to pull it up (especially since yours is so good shjsisksks) haha but at the most basic level definitely some double helix rings and basic lobes (<- I usually like to give him long, dangly earrings from the lobes), NIPPLE PIERCINGS 👏 (sorry I feel strongly about this lmao), and maybe a nose ring but I don't think he wears that one as often. I'm ALWAYS torn on how I feel about Lark and piercings. Maybe the same as Sparrow's but somehow with a different vibe? Maybe just basic lobes? Maybe none at all? It's unclear. But I do know one thing, which is that he's definitely the best at actually performing a clean piercing on someone lol.

also okay i'm guilty of this as well because i was ignoring reality a bit too much for the sake of silly plotlines but i AM curious to hear from the larger fandom about why we all kind of collectively assumed that like. life was Normal after the doodler's release. like, the kiddads being in school, everything functioning as is level of normal. because like... maybe it started out that way and at first it was just like how early s2 was going (with a few incursions/sauced people) but look at how the world is now. in the span of just a few years san dimas is overrun and on fire and that's only partially due to willy most of it was the mayor! and we've Seen the other realm, old earth- it's bad. explicitly so bad that you lose yourself just being in that environment for too long. that was the world that the dads + kiddads inhabited before code purple so like... idk. this is why i think my problem with the twins during last episode's ending was not that they were teaching kids how to fight and use guns because look at the world they were in. it's apocalyptic! there's a reason the kiddads had to get involved in DADDIES so quickly! and like. i do think that gets lost a little bit when we reflect on like. the hellscape that was pre-code purple. it wasn't just your normal day to day life it was actively apocalyptic.

Anyone up for hearing my theories on who and when and how the portals in Dndads can kind of make sense maybe?

Well, start of the season, Sparrow, Lark, Grant, and Terry clearly can't portal between realms. My theory is that they kinda depended on Nick, Glenn, and Jodie for that sort of thing pre-betrayal. But this inability to portal is how they get stuck on Earth and the teens need to save them. However, we do see them using portal guns and whatever later, so what happens?

Now at the start we don't see portalling between the two realms until Nick shows up, but we do see the FBI create a portal into Taylor's room, and we see the mayor have the ability to portal around the Forgotten Realms when she appears under Taylor's bed (later we get the conformation when they visit city hall, but we're not really there yet.) The point is though, these two entities are clearly limited to the plane their already on at this point. The FBI might be looking for a way into Hell, but they don't have it yet.

Now...should Sparrow have Plane Shift when they go to earth? Yes. But I'm going to say that either the kiddads got split up and he didn't want to abandon Grant and Terry, OR somehow he got really unlucky and "How to cast plane shift" was a memory that got stolen or wiped away by Doodler aura almost immediately. It's not too egregious.

Once everyone gets back from Earth, the next portal usage we see is Nick coming out of Hell to kick Willy's ass, and the next thing we know, the FBI has found their way into Hell. I theorize that, since Agent Shmegan basically told Taylor he'd be following to see when Nick showed back up, that Nick got caught by the FBI at this point, and they managed to create their tool to cross through to different planes, and since they already had the tech to portal around one plane, it's not a stretch to think they could apply it in such a way that it could go between realms.

Now, who is in cahoots with the FBI? Willy. Him helping them get Nick probably actually made that easier actually. So now Willy has portal guns developed by the FBI. He doesn't need them himself, but once he gets the collars on the kiddads, he needs them to have a way to easily get through the realms so that they can do their jobs and hands them off.

In regards to Nick, my thoughts are that whatever demons use to make portals requires somatic components so having all his limbs cut off ruined that (and I know I said maybe portals don't cost spell slots for Demons) but I wonder if while he was hanging around the ISS, he just thought if he couldn't use the spell, why bother prepping it, and replaced it with something else, but then forgot to re-prep it once he got his limbs back.

The only thing I don't really have an explanation for is why Lark can summon the cat bus via whistle. But I also think I've just thought about this for more than I already should have, so...I can just let that one go. Like...maybe the catbus has a portal connection that's whistle based, I dunno. OH!!!! THAT'S IT!!! Maybe like the bracelet that was set to open the portal from Taylor's room to the FBI base, he has a bracelet that opens a portal from the cat bus to wherever he is when he whistles!
