I am apologizing if my English is bad because I am using a machine translator to help me. I am from lily’s blog without a question box and I want you to help me understand this issue. By addressing the anonymous hate you are only giving it a platform and spreading awareness to your followers?
We should not be getting involved or anything like that because we have followers who can say mean things and express different opinions than us. You cannot expect your followers to listen to what you say and agree with everything you do. If you tell us not to send threatenings and private information there will always be crazy followers who will do the opposite. They will not listen because they are messed up and think this is funny to get a reaction out of you ,but if you keep talking about anonymous slander and getting involved then you are giving these people a platform and a reason to be heartless on the internet. Only windy and saint should be involved and maybe it is a good idea if they keep it private next time. Like personal messaging. You can see what can happens if you make personal drama public on this website called tumblr. It will blow up and become out of our control because millions of people can access it.
For my thoughts I think Lily should be held accountable for sharing windy’s message and giving the anonymous people an opportunity to be mean. They have a big community and it is insensitive to believe that there is not malicious people following them. I think everyone who is not the wind or saint need to step away and do not be involved. This is not our argument and repeatedly talking of it will only continue the cycle of anonymous hate and grievance. We need to back away and not talk about. Saint said it very clearly and respectfully that we should not engage the hate by sharing and exposing it to our followers. windy said that they need space from all of this and we should all respect it. We need to be more self aware of our actions and the harm it can cause even intentionally or not.
I notice there is a real problem in this community and it is encouraging anonymous haters. Why we never had this problem before bigger names like restart heart comes along? It was calm in this community but your friends are ruining the peace by participating in anon culture and doom scrolling. I am asking you with genuine sincere emotions to stop this. Stop giving anonymous a platform to be mean by turning off the anonymous question box and blocking. Do not answer rude asks and they will get tired and move away. This is my advice which you do not need to listen to but I recommend it. Please have a good morning.
I’m not going to fault you for English not being your first language- I work with many people with a language barrier in not only the limited Spanish I know, but also sign language for two deaf/hard of hearing employees.
I want to first ask why you’re coming to me about your grievances with Lily. Not just you, but other anons. Just because my ask box is open doesn’t mean that I’ll just allow you to shit on them for what they decide to do with their blog. And I’m also Lilith’s number one call out friend when I don’t agree with their actions before they make them public. Saint ALSO has a big community, the same could be said for them and how their mods interacted with the situation. And I going to say it again- no one ENCOURAGES these anons, but it’s clear who isn’t expressing discouraging this sort of behavior. I’m not encouraging anons to hate on me when I see one that’s worth responding to just for the sake of discussion and offering perspectives and I will be more than happy to block a stupid ask that’s just there to hurt me. I want people to really sit and marinate on the words I’m trying to express. If I blocked every anon that came my way, then what was the point of you taking the time to write this? Shouldn’t other people see it as well? I’ve been on tumblr for a long time despite this being the SECOND blog I have ever made, this is just how I respond to anons.
You blaming RH for pointing out something that was already an issue before this new falling out isn’t new- Lily’s had countless instances of vitriol and hate sent their way along with other people- they just can’t ignore it. They’ve been DOXXED in the almost same exact way Saint is being in a way that is…oddly too coincidental for me but I’m taking that with a grain of salt since I’m aware there’s a group of people who have been oddly quiet recently until now, but that’s just if my speculations are correct.
I’ll state it again- I don’t encourage harassment and I’ll be more than happy to shut that shit down- I’ve just been careful with how I speak because I don’t want to give people the excuse to further be racist to me or call me an “angry black man. Again- there are nuances I’m more than happy to point out when I see them.

Dreamwidth pitch
Sometimes I wish more people would talk to me on Dreamwidth but then I don't really talk about Dreamwidth and why it's good or how it works, so maybe it would be good for me to do that??
So I guess some of the basic selling points about Dreamwidth:
Signing up is free and quick. (Also, I believe you can have any number of accounts associated with the same email address.) It has a similar vibe to Tumblr -- a geeky/fannish space.
It is a journaling website based on LiveJournal. By this I mean that it's almost like having a diary where you can choose to make some parts of that diary public or semi-public (at which point it becomes a blog). Counter to the direction of a lot of social media sites which increasingly focus on metrics, engagement (in a numeric form of views/likes/notes/retweets/etc.), and wide availability and easy (or automatic) sharing of content so as to maximize those metrics, Dreamwidth goes in the opposite direction with a focus on privacy. Each post you make has three possible privacy settings: public (viewable by anyone visiting the site), friends (viewable only to people who you have intentionally granted access to your friends-only posts -- you can also freely define custom friend groups to select subsets of friends, although I don't usually use this level of compartmentalization), and private (viewable only by you). It's very easy to check which privacy setting you've used for a post and to change them after the fact. Because posts on Dreamwidth cannot be shared or reblogged, when you revoke access to your post, it is immediate and total because you control the only copy of the post. Usual internet exceptions apply: People may screenshot your post; the internet archive may manually or automatically take a snapshot of older content; or a person might still have "friends" access and then leak the details of a post outside of "friendslock", which would make semi-private material accessible to the public again even though you've tried to lock it down. But for the most part, you much less run into the issue where something you wrote when you were 16 is still public knowledge and can't be scrubbed from the internet. And because privacy settings are such a big feature of the site, there are strong social norms against violating someone's privacy by sharing details they've posted semi-privately outside of that space. I really like this aspect of Dreamwidth because being able to write up my thoughts on very personal things I'm thinking about or going through and have some close internet friends who I trust share their thoughts in response has been so helpful to me throughout my life. There are a lot of mental health benefits to keeping a diary and even more so when you can get semi-anonymous advice from people you know and trust on the internet. I cannot tell you how invaluable it has been to panic or vent about some situation I'm encountering for the first time and have an older and wiser friend give me some advice on how to approach it. I've really grown as a person through first LiveJournal and now Dreamwidth as its replacement because of the semi-anonymous (pseudonymous) AND semi-private way you interact with the site and other users, and I don't know any other social media website that can do this, except I suppose through DMs, but that always feels like having a side conversation whereas doing it on a journaling site makes it the main conversation, where it's easier to organize/search/sort through.
Dreamwidth was forked from LiveJournal many years ago by a small group of people who are very thoughtful and intentional about site design and purpose. You can see in the way DW and LJ have diverged since what the value is in having site runners who have a philosophy about approaching websites that's more than just "make money/break even." Dreamwidth is very "shoestring budget" in its feel -- it has fewer features, development is slow and (I'm guessing) largely done by the site founders or volunteers, and bugs are slow to fix. But on the flipside, the site is simple and loads quickly, the default look of the site is very clean and easy to read, and in addition, the site allows you to fully customize the default style in which content is displayed to you, something that other social media sites will never do (aside from a "dark mode", I suppose) because being able to establish and fully control the site look is key for a company's/website's branding. However, Dreamwidth goes another direction, because accessibility and accessibility features have been a value of the site owners from the founding, and they take that seriously. Dreamwidth is also very intentional about its content policy and takes pains to maximize free expression while still maintaining a safe environment conducive for dialogue and debate for its users. Finally, there are no advertisements on the site anywhere at all. Zero. How does the site support itself, then, you ask? It's based on a paid subscription model where a core of passionate users are willing to pay some money each year so that the site is able to support the amount of users/traffic it gets. This funding model means that the site remains the product being sold rather than the users (and their data/eyeballs). This is a good alignment to have because you want the site to be incentivized to be useful and valuable to users rather than to harvest as much as it can from its users so as to be useful and valuable to advertisers. Dreamwidth takes security seriously and keeps its users informed about potential security breaches (e.g. one where LJ's passwords were compromised, which led to DW accounts using the same password being similarly compromised). A comparison of what Dreamwidth and LiveJournal are like now is illustrative -- I find LiveJournal almost unusable because of the ads, loading times, and just general janky interface; LJ has also been subject to multiple purges and controversial content policy changes over the years. Being on Dreamwidth is almost calming and relaxing by contrast, even though it is clearly missing some obvious and sometimes very useful features like post-/comment-liking, video uploading, post scheduling, etc.
How tagging works on Dreamwidth: This is probably the biggest difference in how Tumblr/AO3 and Dreamwidth work. On Tumblr and AO3, tags are universal across the whole site. When you tag a post with something, then it will appear in global searches for anyone browsing that tag. Heck, on Tumblr, it might pop up unsolicited on someone's dash if they follow that tag. Tags are the main way people find and are recommended content from people they're not already following. On Dreamwidth, though, tags only apply to your blog. There is no universal tag search. I mean, you can search Dreamwidth for content you're interested in; you can also search users based on what tags they've listed in their "Interests." In my experience, though, this tends to not really turn up much useful stuff; you'll likely get a lot of weird/niche content probably not meant to be viewed by a wider audience, as well as users and communities who haven't updated their journal in, like, five years. Not very useful. (In general, content production and content discovery are extremely anemic on DW, a downside I discuss more fully below.) However, what this means is that tags are 100% geared toward the function of helping you organize your own blog. You have full control over your tagging scheme. Much more than any social media website I can think of (Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram for sure), Dreamwidth facilitates having a complete record of every post you've written and helps you easily find specific content again even if you wrote it years in the past. This is why I say the site is very good for journaling. It's easy to double-check things like: "In order for people to understand this part, they need to read that post where I talked about that grocery store incident. Where is that post?" "How long have I been having this issue at work? Oh wow, my first post on this was eight months ago." "Where are all the posts I've made with my TV show reviews?" (Tip: The default setting on Dreamwidth is to display only a selection of the most frequently used tags in alphabetical order on your main journal page; I would recommend overriding this immediately to set it to show all tags because your tags are going to be a SUPER useful navigation tool for sorting through your own posts.)
Features that support having actual conversations with your friends rather than shouting one-sidedly into the void and maybe getting a supportive like in response IDK: Fully-threaded comments (and also, no "like" button). *old lady voice* Kids these days don't appreciate the value of a fully-functional comment threading system! Okay, so Dreamwidth allows you to start new comments in response to a post and reply freely to other comments, creating a kind of hierarchical tree structure. All the discussion associated with a post is viewable on a single page, and this means you can have a pretty detailed back-and-forth with the author of a post without coming off as hostile or without awkwardly spamming your followers with one half of the conversation, which is how conversations work on Tumblr. The comment character limit is 16k characters (~2500 words) so you can reply fully to a post rather than needing to condense the essence of your reply into a brief comment. You can talk not only to your friends but also to your friends' friends who are contributing to the discussion too. Separation of public and private spaces: I won't go into this too much but Dreamwidth has "personal blogs" (private spaces) and "communities" (public spaces moderated by the leader of the community) that work very differently (have completely different mechanics underlying them). Unlike Tumblr and Twitter, this means there is a clear separation between public and private spaces, behavior norms in each, and who you're accountable to when interacting in each space, which does a lot to ease social interactions and make them less fraught and contentious. And unlike sites like Reddit, you actually GET a private space without having to interact entirely in communities/special interest forums. These sets of features means that you can have a very deep, easy-to-follow conversation in a semi-public forum on a wide variety of topics while keeping the conversation all in one place and allowing interested people to follow the conversation. It's just a set of features that prioritizes responding to content with high-quality conversation rather than the mere sharing of content without comment.
If you're interested in joining Dreamwidth, here is a word of warning and then advice:
The warning is that, unlike Tumblr, it is very hard to make friends on DW. On Tumblr, you can make friends by browsing tags and journals of people who post things relevant to your interests or who interact on the posts YOU'RE making and sharing; you can follow someone whose content you enjoy and want to continue seeing and maybe they follow you back and start interacting with your posts! Cool. Easy. DW makes this process problematic in many ways: (1) as mentioned earlier, content discovery is difficult, (2) in some cases, most or all of people's content may be friendslocked which means you cannot preview it before you decide to approach someone suggesting to be friends, (3) assuming you do find a stranger whose (public) content is interesting, you can "subscribe" to them (the equivalent of following on Tumblr; their content now regularly shows up on your dash ("friends page")) and/or "friend" them (this will give them access to YOUR friendslocked posts); the person you subscribe to or friend will get a notification of this action, but this doesn't actually mean you are or will be "friends." You see, in order to be friends, someone needs to subscribe and friend you back. For the first thing, that means being interested in your content (usually not an issue; even if you don't have any content, people are willing to take a chance on you and subscribe back). But the second thing is more important -- by friending you back, that will grant access to all the friendslocked entries. Just because some stranger on the internet is interested in what you post and is like "Friends?" and give you access to their friendslocked entries doesn't mean you actually trust that person enough to give them full access to your years and years of friendslocked writing, you know what I mean? So making a random friend request might just result in being completely ignored. Instead, you often need to give someone the context for why you are interested in being friends, introduce yourself, and ask for their permission to friend before hitting that button.
Okay, so what this means is that it is very hard to find potential friends on DW and trying to friend people can be way more work than creating a new account and clicking some buttons on people's profiles. So how do people make friends on DW?! In order to get around this, people have come up with several things:
Friending memes: These are activities that happen every so often where someone gives people a form to fill out (where you talk about various interests and type of things you post about on your blog, potential dealbreakers in your content, etc.) and people browse through other people's comments and when they find someone who looks interesting, they can reply and be like "Hey! You seem like an interesting person. I also post about camping and photography. Want to be friends?" It's like, uh, speed dating but for online friends? This is much better than a cold approach as described above. In particular, every January on Dreamwidth, a group of people runs an activity called the Snowflake Challenge, where they have various fannish activities and challenges and you can choose to participate in whichever ones you like. A lot of them act as kind of icebreaker questions, and you can strike up conversations with other people by browsing things they've posted, and at some point in the activity, there's always a friending meme. Usually reccing active communities and helpful resources on DW is also part of the Snowflake Challenge (which is SUPER useful because being on DW can be like walking through a graveyard sometimes), so it's great for people who are new.
Stickied friending posts at the top of journals. These posts will often explain what kind of journal the person keeps, what content they post, how much of their journal is friendslocked, requirements for friending, etc. Comment there to introduce yourself, explain why you are interested in friending this person, ask to be friended back, etc.
Participate in public-space "communities" first and use that to find friends. Okay, okay, a bit difficult because there are a lot of communities on DW that are *tumbleweed blowing in the wind* -- dead. Abandoned. So quiet and unresponsive that it's almost worse than being fully dead because there are people there who will sometimes give you a bite but it's just not enough to feel worth the time and now you're all embarrassed for yourselves and each other. Here are some recs of active communities: dw_community_promo (for finding (newly) active communities, not necessarily fannish in nature); fandom_on_dw (any kind of fannish activities/communities); fandomcalendar (fannish events); thefridayfive (a currently active community that posts a collection of five questions each Friday; great for icebreakers and you can browse other people's answers); addme_fandom (if a friending meme were a community instead; this comm also has a lot of resources for new joiners of DW in its sticky post). Active but maybe a bit drama-llama-y (you may or may not enjoy these): fandomsecrets (an EXTREMELY long-running community run by maybe the most tireless/superhuman mod I know of; you can anonymously submit images containing a fandom-related secret you have, and they get posted in random order over the following week and people discuss in the comments -- it's a great multifandom space, especially if you want to vent about some fandom drama you're going through or an unpopular opinion you have, but can be intimidating to interact there non-anonymously due to the nature/contentiousness of the secrets/discussions sometimes; also, sometimes people are mean :(); fail_fandomanon (a fandom gossip comm, essentially, but also a good multifandom discussion place; very difficult to find friends, though, due to the anonymous posting requirement but it's very active and gives you plenty of reading material if you largely like to use social media to read interesting stuff you didn't know about before. Also, its "Ask meme" threads and its personal posts are great for getting anonymous help and advice -- like you know those newspaper advice columns or r/AITA or r/relationships? That kind of thing. You can be very detailed about an issue you're having in your personal life and people will give you advice. Even more so than fandomsecrets, "lightly bitchy and petty" is kind of the vibe of this place, and anonymous trolling is commonplace (one rule of the comm is "don't be THAT much of an asshole" which kind of gives you an idea of what baseline level of politeness we're talking about here). It's got a complicated set of norms that have developed over time (see, for example, the elaborate comment titles and the sheer number of acronyms flying around), which can make the learning curve for delurking pretty steep.
Weirdly, the type of communities in which I have made the longest-lasting LJ/DW friends have been "landcomms," a special kind of competitive fannish activity community. I think they were based on the House Cup of Harry Potter. At least, it's easiest to explain it that way: there are multiple "games"/"rounds" (each lasting 3 months, say) where all the participants are sorted into teams, and they earn points for their team by participating in various challenges and activities set up by the mods. I no longer have time to really be active in any of these but WOW they really help you make friends who you know pretty deeply because you're interacting and strategizing with your fellow teammates, and over time you get to know the regulars quite well. These communities often lock all their content and activities to members only, which means that it's a good sandbox to experiment with fannish creation because the audience is fairly small and a priori quite supportive. You can experiment and put your work out there in a way that isn't like "now everyone on the internet has access to this and can judge it." Anyway, I'm too old to participate in these, but apparently lands_of_magic is an active multifandom landcomm and might be worth checking out.
Some other random features of Dreamwidth that I like, and also the major weaknesses of Dreamwidth as a site:
Strength: You get multiple icons/userpics. It's kind of weird to me that social media sites have done away with the ability for users to have multiple userpics (I suppose it does make it easier to identify who is saying what!), but in any case, this is a weirdly unique feature that LJ/DW have -- you can upload multiple 100x100 little images and choose which one to accompany each post and comment you make (or just use your default icon). Icons on DW, to me, are like custom emoji on Discord. They are ways to be expressive through images without the need for words, they can be quite personal, you get some slots for free, but because a lot of people get REALLY into them, users are literally willing to pay money for more slots that they can use. Anyway, you get 15 icon slots by default, and there are a lot of users and communities dedicated to making icons that people can use. It's fun!
Strength: Dreamwidth has a very powerful and simple HTML editor. Weakness: I have never used Dreamwidth's rich text editor, and everything I hear from people who have used it suggests it is an unusuable eldritch horror. Cannot verify that experience, but even without using it, I am pretty confident that DW's "WYSIWYG" editing ("what you see is what you get" -- that is, however you format a post while drafting it, that's what it will look like to other people when posting) is extremely far behind other social media sites. If I were to post and format this post on Dreamwidth (and I will), I would be able to do a lot more with controlling how the bulletpoints look and are nested, and I could do things like create sections in the post that make it easy to navigate to specific sections, and I could do things like add tables and collapsible sections because I think Dreamwidth allows almost any HTML5 tag (more so than e.g. what AO3 allows). On the negative side, however, it is much harder to do things like arrange images in a photoset on Dreamwidth. In short, you WILL need some kind of HTML knowledge to do anything fancier than paragraphs of text (images, embeds, polls, bulleted lists, etc.). However, if text is all you're doing, it's a really nice editor. And for power users, HTML is a good skill to have and unlocks a lot of possibilities with your posts, and DW is one of the best interfaces for doing pared-down, simplified HTML editing I've ever used.
Strength: Some more on accessibility: So remember how I said that DW lets you control the way the site is displayed to you? This means you can heavily customize how your reading page and blog looks, what links and sidebar widgets are available and where they're placed on the page, etc. But you know, that kind of freedom can be dangerous. As you might know well from Tumblr, what about people with custom blog styles that are a horrendous viewing experience -- autoplay music, flashing gifs, low text-background contrast, color scheme that makes your eyes burn, etc.? Well, DW has thought about that. Whenever you get a link to a DW post or someone's DW blog and you don't like the style, you can just append ?style=site OR ?style=mine OR ?style=light to the URL and voila -- it's readable again. ?style=site will display the page in DW's standard style which is a light grey + red/pink highlights style that is designed to be easy on the eyes. ?style=mine will display the page in YOUR custom style, so if you've made tweaks to the site style to optimize your reading experience, you can now apply it everywhere you like. Finally, ?style=light displays the page with minimal styling so that it can be loaded quickly in situations where your connection is bad. All of these things allow you to have an optimal reading experience.
Strength: Polls. If you have a paid account, Dreamwidth lets you make polls. This is probably the number one reason why I have a paid DW account, to be honest, because polls are really useful for running communities and getting feedback. Like, when I mod communities and I want to get the opinion of members, I can post a poll, and my paid account lets me do this in any community as well as on my personal journal. I used to run a lot of fanwork contest type communities, and you can conduct voting pretty easily that gives each user one vote, which is hard to ensure through third-party voting mechanisms. The downside here is that the opposite is not possible -- you can't run a poll that is open to the general public. I believe all poll participants need to have a DW account in order to participate.
Weakness: Dreamwidth's image-posting capabilities are still quite weak. It is only relatively recently that Dreamwidth allowed you to upload images to the site at all. A free account gives you only 500 MB, which is enough if you want to post a graphic or a photo here and there but not a lot if you're posting e.g. your full set of vacation photos or gifsets or reams of screencaps or whatnot. The upload interface leaves much to be desired. It is very difficult to add images to posts -- you either need to use the rich text editor (which comes with its own set of challenges) or you need to be pretty comfortable with HTML and understanding what <img src=""> means. DW does provide some copy and pasteable HTML code to put your image into the HTML post editor, but yeah, putting an image in a post is not the click-and-drag experience that it is on most modern social media sites. When I want to add some images to a post, the process is like this: Open a new tab and go to the DW homepage. Click Create > Upload Images. Upload files. Make sure the privacy settings of the images match my post. Get each image embed code and go back to my other tab where I'm editing my post and paste it in. Repeat for all images. Yay. It is certainly not a simple experience.
Weakness: There is no reblog function. This can have some benefits: as mentioned, you own the only copy of your post -- if other people want to share it, they have to give people the URL to it. However, let me be very frank about the downsides: it means that Dreamwidth is not a low-effort content-sharing website like most social media sites are nowadays, which has two major ramifications: First, you cannot create an interesting blog simply by following interesting blogs and curating an interesting feed. I mean, I suppose you can kind of do this by collecting interesting links and posting them as a DW post every so often, but that's still very different from how modern social media works where you just directly share the interesting content and that IS your blog. What this means is that in order to have an interesting blog, YOU have to consciously craft/draft your own interesting content from time to time; you cannot just rely on encountering interesting content from other people. What THIS means is that your DW blog is inevitably going to be quite personal. This can be pretty intimidating for someone who is starting out. I remember my first LiveJournal post (which even 18 years later took me about 10 seconds to pull up on my laptop -- the archival functions of DW are AMAZING) was essentially me saying "Hm… well I got this LJ but I don't know what kind of things to use this thing for or how long I'm going to keep it…" Anyway, it's always very awkward starting up a DW blog because you can't just find some content you find really cool and just share it and people get to know you and your tastes and your interests that way. Nah, you're kind of thrown into the oversharing deep end here. You're going to have to personally write something if you want people to have something to read. Second, keeping a DW blog can be a non-trivial amount of effort. Like I mentioned, you can certainly use your blog to curate content, but it requires some amount of work and effort to do even that. You can't just scroll and click and bam, you've added some content to your blog.
Weakness: Dreamwidth is very lo-fi and text-based. I mentioned the difficulties of uploading images; I mentioned the lack of a share button. What Dreamwidth is geared toward is plain text posts. I recognize this is very not ideal -- where are the visual aids? The images to break up all the dry walls of text? The whole experience of being on Dreamwidth is doing a lot of reading. And a lot of writing. A LOT. Sometimes people just don't have time for that. I get it. I mean, you can choose how often and how much to write and how much of your reading page you want to read, but regardless of how frequently and for how long you choose to engage with the site, it is never going to be an easy scrolling, filling-a-three-minute-lull-in-the-middle-of-the-work-day sort of experience, IMO. The content can be very interesting but it's got a high barrier to entry.
Weakness: Content discovery is very difficult. I discussed this earlier. But Dreamwidth really doesn't do much to shove content in your face. It doesn't have recommendation algorithms. This can be good because it helps you curate your feed to content you enjoy and people you trust, so you rarely have to block people because they are irritating you. You can just not follow them or easily scroll by their posts (DW is very text-based and high barrier to entry, right, so it takes a lot of conscious effort to consume content; it's not the type of site where you can run across the worst opinion you've ever read in your life and by the time you realize what it is, you've consumed the whole post). Spammers also aren't really a thing. But it means that you really do need to build up an interesting set of people/communities to follow or there's nothing for you to read or DO on the site. It also means that people will not just stumble across YOUR posts unless you put forward effort to promote them somewhere (e.g. in an active relevant community, which, you know, may not exist). You're never going to get that dopamine hit of people liking and reblogging your stuff instantly after you post it. And even when you want to share something widely, it can be tricky trying to figure out whether that's possible at all. Strength: On the plus side, I suppose it really is like having a private little sandbox. Like you're over here going "vroom vroom" with your toy cars or whatever, and it's extremely unlikely you'll get some rando barging into your replies talking about how your car-playing is all WRONG and here's what you should do instead.
Weakness: Dreamwidth is "dead." I mean, you can still find plenty of people who are active on DW. I have a great, very active set of friends whose posts I enjoy reading (and they all post different sorts of things; I have enough friends that I can't actually read all the content I'm interested in, but I do try) and who regularly respond to my posts. I'm very happy there. Personal blogs are doing fine. But personal blogs are only one half of Dreamwidth -- the other half are communities (public spaces) and those are not doing so well in my experience. You have a couple of active islands I mentioned above, and if your fandoms are sufficiently big, you can probably find an active discussion comm for them. But if your fandoms are small or even if you're in a big fandom that just doesn't seem to have found a dedicated mod and a critical mass of active users interested in public discussions, then you're shit out of luck when it comes to public discussion venues on DW. Depending on your needs/interests, this might be fine, or it might be a dealbreaker. For me personally, as someone who was on LJ in its heyday, the lack of communities is a bit demoralizing. It's certainly quieter and it has this feel of there being a few towers of refuge in a barren landscape that people are flocking around. And like I said, communities help you make friends. And it's just a different way of interacting with people, which I value in a social media site, and I can't really meet that need on DW with the current size of its userbase.
Weakness: There is no ask system. There are DMs; sometimes people play askbox meme-style games in the comment of posts (someone posts a list of questions, people comment to select the ones they want the OP to answer, OP replies in the comment thread with their answers); and I suppose you could create a stickied post with anonymous comments enabled to act as your askbox, but there's really no equivalent to the big set of functionality that is the askbox system on Tumblr. There's no way to privately ask someone a question, and that question can then easily be published or replied to privately at the discretion of the blog owner. If you'd like to poke someone to check in with them, the only way to do that is with a DM or a comment posted on a random blog entry; there's not really an easy way to ask a question or propose some content to someone's blog with asks the way there is on Tumblr.
Anyway, I think I've covered the main things about using Dreamwidth. I always want more people to come talk to me on Dreamwidth because I feel like that site is the only place that facilitates people getting to know me both on a purely fannish level and on a very personal level (I know people can make the personal + fannish sharing combo work on Twitter and Tumblr, but having everything be out in public just really does not work for me). But I realize it's hard to just start using a site you're unfamiliar with, especially one like Dreamwidth that tends to have a bit of a learning curve and is generally out of step with the direction of modern social media. And especially when you don't have many friends there already, which is probably the case for most people. But it's a site I respect and trust a lot, and I think it facilitates deep, long-lasting friendships. More than anything, I think the main difference between DW and Tumblr is that Tumblr is mainly a site for sharing content with other people and reacting to it, while DW is more geared toward helping you organize your life and your thoughts. They have a lot of overlap in terms of the kind of personal and fannish musings and experiences that can be shared, though. Anyway, if you're interested in joining Dreamwidth but it's intimidating/confusing, please reach out! I have lots more recs for active communities depending on your interests, too!
(Probably the best way to do that is on the Dreamwidth version of this post.)

To clarify, I am not a NV stan, I am not NV, I am not HC, I am pissed with HC for this whole thing, I am pro vaccine, I am vaccinated and not into conspiracy theories. However there are some things that really get to me:
- they broke COVID protocol. No they didn't. I have friends (definitely not wealthy) who have travelled to/from Europe into USA and viceversa and they followed procedure and were careful and did nothing wrong. Of course, wealthier people have more opportunities than others, but that's true across the board, not just in with COVID. And I see other celebs who have done MUCH worse than that.... hopping around yachts and all that. HC stayed cooped up in the English countryside, always wore a mask and still does and she was in LA.
- he went to Florida to party and lied about working. No, he went to Florida to shoot his MT stuff and to meet with her manager DG - she is headquartered there which is also probably why he as a house there. Chances are he went to LA as well in his private jet to do meetings and such. and in his downtime, just like every other human he went out for some coffee and drinks. Florida has lax rules, true, but I am 1000000000% certain he, she and his brother and family are all vaccinated, and therefore very very veeeeery unlikely to get sick or transmit the disease.
- all the photoshop/body double drama: have not heard it in a while thank God, but that's literally delusional to believe that.
- Natalie is actively doing all the work accepting/rejecting tags and even creating fake accounts to abuse her bullies. She surely has a keen eye on the whole thing, but it's his team managing her socials and I am fairly sure they are paying some people to run stan accounts for her + she must have some friends who are helping her out. i know other celebs have been caught anon'ing on lipstick alley and such so i am not saying definitely not, but definitely unlikely, no matter how uncool she is.
- she lied about her job. no she didn't. her linkedin does say she is a vp. not an executive director, but a vp she is (yes there is a rumor she has been suspended because of abusing staff, which would explain a lot). how she advanced in her career is a legitimate question, because of her escort website and her job at weinstein and frankly the fact she grew up in a broken home with a toxic af dad who probably taught her she is not loved and to get ahead you gotta use your body. so really, even if she might be enjoying mr cavill's physical attentions, i do not and will never envy her.
- dany is a demon = #freehenrycavill. henry is no britney spears. dany seems to suck some serious a** at her job and she is a body builder in a cult of bodybuilders and my personal opinion and that of many is that it is a very bad career choice for henry who has so much more going for him than being the next rock/cena/arnie. but he chose that, willingly. he has a strong emotional support system around him with all the brothers and the family etc (as opposed to say a tom cruise). but... he also has a massive eating disorder-like issue and being a bodybuilder only fuels body dysmorphia & co. so yes he is in 'danger' and DG is not good news at all, but he is an adult, a millionaire, a powerful actor and has free will and if anything the only reason why i take the time to write this is in the hope that some of this gets to him via the voices of many many fans and it helps him wake up. chances of that happening: 0.1%.
- random rant: it always creeped me out that henry says he doesn't like to read fiction and non fiction and sticks to fantasy because the other two genres make his heart hurt too much... but then he is also the staunchest lover of everything WAR... like that's a dangerous and contradictory mix dude.
thank you for coming to my ted talk.
1. Not true. I tried to find but tumblr is so weird so I cannot: I had a poat about the official lockdown timeline of the UK. Only essential traveling were allowed at that time when she presumably entered into the UK. And if they haven’t broke protocol why this was the only topic he hadn’t touched in his FO post (it was before blackface). If you are falsely accused of such a thing publicly on forums, mocked because of it and you are mot guilty of it, I think you want to clear the air as soon as you can. But he remained silent. Instead of he bullsh*tted so many things, protected DG, but never adressed this. This makes me obvious they are guilty of it because otherwise we se he has mo problem to speak up if something bothers him.
2. I think the FL thing more like sarcasm but everything he did as work could have been done in the UK or via zoom. And since he emphasized he is there for work I think the mocking understandable especially after point one above.
3. “Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.”
Agree. Truth is no body double or blackmail or anything. Maybe they were set up, this is not a crime but the trut is they are together whatever is this and there is no 2-3 NV impersonators. Just her and him.
4.I am not sure about that hia team is managing her SM but I can see they are paying stans. Like the one whose ask was accepted at the WitcherCon after NV has accepted tags from her for a month and this someone also friends with GG and the 🤡 No suspicious at all… (I don’t believe in coincidences so must be 💵)
5. I gave up to understand what is her title, work, how she got it and how hasn’t shw fired yet but what I know they pushed her as a WAY more important someone as she is in irl. And I consider this as a lie. Not from her but from his team because those articles were paid by them
6. Agree with his completely
7. fantasy is fiction , but I get the impression he doesn’t really read. I think he should have some non fiction and some classics, from authors who are not writing in english etc, so something that is not fantasy
Your welcome, sorry for the late answer

The Leaving Cert is an awful system.
09/09/21
In case you are not from Ireland, the Leaving Cert(ificate) is the exam system that determines which uni we can get into. Rather than having a GPA via continual assessments or any sort of entrance exam or letter of application we simply have one set of exams. There are obviously other exams (such as the christmas and summer exams in other years), however, the Leaving Cert exam is the only one that matters.
When you take a subject you can either do ordinary or higher level. Ordinary level is easier but rewards less points, and higher level is more difficult, but rewards more points. A H1 is worth 100 points (except for HL maths which is 125) and is given if you get between 90 and 100%. A H2 is 88 points and 80-90% and so on. An O1 is 90-100% in an ordinary level subject but only 56 points. There are some weird changes to the system when it comes to medicine but I won't get into that right now. Universities award places based solely on the points you receive. This leads into the first problem.
Whilst the education experience is a multi year process (6 years in secondary school in our case), what determines your uni course is a single event, often just a single week out of many years of learning. This is insanity and leads to so many obvious problems. A person could be getting H1s throughout the year and forgot to study just one topic and end up with a H3 in the leaving cert at the end, and a H3 student could get lucky and study a topic that happens to come up and get a H1. Even a single grade can be the difference between getting into the uni you want and losing out. The leaving cert does not measure you abilities as a student, your effort, or even sometimes your ability. The leaving cert measures your memory and how well you can perform on the day. You getting 100% in every single subject for the past 6 years and a family member dies a few days before the exams and it absolutely ruins your mental state? Too bad. In the eyes of the university you are not a good enough student. You are a perfect student but got a bit nervous and stayed up a bit late the night before to get some extra study in and are tired the next day? Too bad. You've been getting 625 in every set of mock tests but on the day your mind goes blank with the incredible stress, the knowledge that one test will determine the rest of your life? Too. Bad. There are no exceptions to the hand of the points system and claw of bad luck. You cannot explain to the uni. They. Will. Not. Care. Nothing else is taken into account. Students will have bad days. That's just life, we're all human. However that must be accounted for. Nobody should miss out on their life's dream because of a single day. That is absolutely absurd.
When you ask someone what education is about t. There is a filter type system for different categories of posts and all that, so if you're interested in what I have to say, I'd recommend going there for the better experience. I also have no fucking clue how to use tumblr sof you ask them what the leaving cert is about they will say it's about getting into uni. Clearly there is a disconnect here. Where has education become so distorted that now it is nothing more than a way for universities to quickly and easily judge us? Education must be about teaching children, not for some uni test, but simply so they can become more knowledgeable, so they can get a thirst for information, so they can locate their strengths and weaknesses, so future generations can live better lives than we will. University selections must be nothing more than an afterthought. It is even worse when the leaving cert is a horrendously stressful system. We put ourselves through sometimes 6 years of stress and bad quality of mental health to make it easier for universities??? What a ridiculous idea.
The leaving cert isn't even a fair way to judge students. Here, I'll be able to determine how good you're likely to do in the leaving cert with two simple questions. Do you have a good memory? Are you good at maths? If you answered yes to both, the chances of you doing well are very high and if you answered no to both - well - the chances aren't quite as good. A huge amount of the leaving cert is simply a memory test. I know the state will talk constantly about how rote learning is discouraged and all that, but realistically that's not the case. Take for example the English paper. You get to know which poets might come and which poems you can use before the exam. This mean your teacher can simply write you a good sample answer and if you can remember it, that's at least a H2 for that part of the exam. And as for being good at maths - if you're good at maths you already have 3 subjects which you can say with reasonable certainty you will be good at - maths, physics, and applied maths. Students who aren't good at maths have nothing like this unless they are fluent in several languages. A big problem when you arises most of the non maths subjects are based on memory, and the ones not based on memory are based on maths. History? Memorising essays. Irish? Memorising poems. Biology? A lot of memorising. Physics? A lot of maths. Accounting? A lot of memorising. This continues throughout basically all the exam subjects, with only maybe one or two exceptions. I know someone who hasn't even started 5th year, and yet they already know they're screwed and have basically given up on their first choice course because they have dyscalculia and a terrible memory. They can try as hard as they want, study as hard as they can, but realistically, they aren't going to come close to someone with a good memory and are good at maths who put in the bare minimum effort. It's bizarre too, given the amount of jobs that don't require either maths or a good memory.
The subjects you can study in the leaving cert is also extremely limited. You have to study Irish, English, Maths, and a third language. In public schools you then basically have the option of History, Geography, Accounting, Business, Economics, Art, Music, Religion, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and DCG. There are no electives to try out things similar to careers you might be interested or anything like that. Now those that plan to go into business will be happy I'm sure, however, for most other people, the subjects have very little in common with the career you want to do. You're doing law? I suppose a business subject might somewhat help??? You're doing computer science? Maths is kinda related. Medicine? Biology sure, perhaps a little bit of chemistry? But at most 2 out of your 6 subjects will actually be any way relevant to your career. To make it even worse, public schools have subjects in blocks. This means there will 3 blocks of subjects and you pick one from each block. You're super good at both physics, chemistry, and business? Well too bad, there's a very high chance you won't get to study all 3, and you'll have to pick up geography or some other subject you have no interest in. In some cases all 3 of the subjects you like may be in the same block, meaning you'll have to pick up 2 subjects you have no interest in and will likely be worse at. Once again, simple luck plays a huge part in the leaving cert. Going into 5th year, the subjects you're allowed pick will likely change your eventual points by around 30 or possibly more. Furthermore, private schools provide a massive advantage, often with your chance of getting good grades being around 4 times higher. You were born with well off parents? Congrats, here's an extra 100 points have fun. Absolute insanity. The leaving cert is really just determined by luck every way you look at it. Now obviously luck plays a part in everyday life too, but the leaving cert basically caters to the lucky, and a whole lot could be done to reduce the benefit they have based on luck alone, rather than quality of character, or time studied, or effort put in, etc.
I suppose I've reached the stage where I should stop complaining and start giving actual suggestions for improvements then. Fine. Firstly, remove the idiotic one exam process. Instead have some sort of GPA system with continual testing, so it shows how good a student is on average, not just on their worst/best day. Increase the amount of uni places available so that getting into the uni and career you want becomes more of an afterthought, rather than a constant stress looming over you. Add more subjects and electives that will be relevant to the career the student is planning to go into. Make learning and discovering your strengths and weaknesses and just enjoying life in general a main focus. Give students time to relax and do sports outside of school, even in 6th year (which is something basically impossible to do under the current system). Allow the tests that determine the GPA to be open book. Make understand more important than simply memorising. Remove the subject block system so students can do all the subjects they actually enjoy and are good at. I believe that the single test system is one of the reasons that private schools perform so well, by removing that, I believe the scores wouldn't be so far apart. However additions restrictions, or even total banning, of private schools could be implemented. After all, surely everyone deserves the same quality of education. These are children and teenagers for gods sake. There shouldn't be a heirachy of education based on their parents wealth. All students should be given the same opportunities. Private schools largely do better due to having better teachers. There currently isn't a large enough supply of very good teachers to go around, and the private schools can simply buy up the majority of good ones. We should pay teachers more, a lot of people thinking about careers may be dissuaded from teaching, despite having a passion, due to the low pay. Many good teachers also go to places like Dubai thanks to the better pay. Overall in society, teachers are sort of dismissed as a profession, and if we wish to improve the lives of the next generations, this must change.

I had two people ask for some advice on starting up/running a blog, so I thought I’d make a little post for anyone else looking for advice! There’s no one right way to run a blog and I am by no means an expert. This is just a compilation of some of the things I’ve learned :)
Feel free to add advice to this!
- The first thing is something I cannot stress enough. Write for yourself first. You will be absolutely miserable if you’re only writing for attention. I’m not saying it’s easy, but it’s so incredibly important. If you don’t like a prompt, fandom, or scenario? You don’t have to write for it! A personal example: I’m a theatre kid and total musical nerd. I could probably write some compelling Dear Evan Hansen or Hamilton headcanons if I wanted to, but I don’t. That’s fine! I’m allowed to say I won’t write for it and deny prompts/requests for those fandoms.
- Set boundaries. This is a very mixed community with all sorts of creators and participants with hands in different baskets. Don’t want minors to interact? Put minors DNI in your bio. SFW only? Put it in the bio. No RP? Bio. This goes for private conversations/askbox/other interactions as well. If someone comes into your askbox/dms and says something that makes you uncomfy, shut it down.
- My advice is more geared towards writing than art or video, but I suppose you could apply this advice as well. Make what makes you happy! If you’re only in one fandom, feel free to stay there and make content for it. Multi-fandom? Excellent! Completely non-fandom? Epic! Make the content that you want to see and the content that makes you happy to create, especially if you’re in a more niche fandom/area.
- Organization. ...I’ll admit this one is more of a personal pet peeve than something urgent, but it is something that people positively respond to. If you have some sort of consistency/organization to your blog, it’ll make it easier and more enjoyable for people to navigate. Make a fandom list/indicate your fandoms somehow (mostly for prompt purposes. people can’t read your mind, so it’s important to tell them what you will write for and what you won’t, however you want to do that)!
Make a masterpost/link your fic tag! Use a fic tag of some kind. Give your fics summaries and leave a little bit of the fic above the ‘read more’ to intrigue folks (look at #my fics and my masterpost for basic examples of how I do this, if you need!). Use read mores. Please use read mores (if you can, idk if they’re on mobile. regardless no one wants to encounter a three thousand word block of text on their dash). (No seriously though, organize your blog, even if it’s super simple. literally just a ‘mine’ or ‘my fics’ or ‘[pseud] writes’ and a fandom tag. It’ll make it easier for people to find your stuff and support you)
- Practice general internetiquette. Please remember that the people in this community are real people with feelings, boundaries, and lives outside of the blog that they run. Be genuine and people will respond to you! Don’t manipulate people into likes/reblogs/attention. No one wants to be on the other end of that. Being in this community isn’t a transaction or a mosh pit, it’s an experience.
- Be ever-so-liberal with the block button. Someone’s user makes you uncomfortable? They give you bad vibes? They’re a minor/older than you and you don’t want them interacting with your content? You don’t wanna see their blog for some reason? Block em. This goes for anons too. That’s what the button is for. Don’t feel guilty for using it. Use it.
- How you write is 100% a personal choice and not really something that I can give advice on, but embrace your style! take prompts if you want, or don’t. Write oneshots, series, drabbles, or novels. Write romantic, or don’t. Etc. Change things up if you feel like it. Do what you want. Your blog, your style, your rules.
- Numbers matter. Don’t let them define you. This is a bit of a harder one to explain, but I will try. I often say that I don’t care about numbers, and I really don’t, but that’s not to say that I don’t see them and they have zero effect on me. I absolutely notice and am bummed if a fic doesn’t get notes, or at least the notes that I was expecting. That is entirely normal and okay to experience. What isn’t okay, though, is creating for the sake of getting notes/numbers/attention (re: write for yourself first, internetiquette). If you find yourself relying on tumblr for gratification and a reward, I implore you to take a break. I’m not your therapist or your parent, I’m not gonna tell you what to do, but when you make things only for the sake of notes, people notice. Celebrate your milestones. Know that it’s okay to be bummed about low notes/celebrate getting plenty. Just make sure that you don’t depend on the numbers for your happiness, or you will be miserable.
- You’re (probably) doing this for free. You are providing people content: a service. Produce as much or as little as you’re comfy with, but always remember that. No one is entitled to what you make. If someone asks you for headcanons, sends a prompt when prompts are closed, etc, and you don’t feel like fulfilling it? You have no obligation to do that. Getting commissioned is another story entirely, but as long as you’re making free content, you have zero obligation to do anything for anyone and certainly no time constraints. It can take me months to finish prompts, and that’s okay. I do them when I do them and I fill them how I want to. If my prompts are closed, I deny new ones until I’m ready to accept them. Make yourself happy first.
- How you interact with others is up to you! It’s generally considered good practice to like/reblog your mutuals fics/art, but this is not necessarily a hard and fast rule. I veeeeeery rarely reblog fics for fandoms that I’m not in, even from my mutuals. What you can do to show your support (and you should try and show support somehow. No one is in competition. Everyone’s in your boat, whether they have no followers or 1k) is send an ask/reply to the post/leave tags to let the author know you liked it. Like the fic and don’t reblog it, if you don’t want to. Just make sure you show your mutuals (and others in general!) roughly the same support they show you, however you decide to do that. Treat others how you want to be treated, as cheesy as it sounds :)
- Don’t repost content that isn’t yours without express permission from the original creator, and credit them appropriately. If you see a cute piece of tickle art and the artist doesn’t want it reposted? Don’t repost it. Don’t post fics/videos/gifs that aren’t yours (obviously if it’s like a scene from a movie/a clip on youtube that’s different, but don’t take credit for things you didn’t make, including ideas). Can’t tell you how frustrating it is to have work stolen from you. Don’t be that person. ‘Credit to original artist’ and ‘credit unknown’ is total bullshit btw. Link/tag the creator in the original post and make it clear you don’t own the content. Best practice is to ask the original creator if they’re okay with reposting, work inspired by or connected to theirs, etc. This goes doubly for saving/downloading someone’s fics.
- It is not illegal for a minor to have normal, nonsexual, healthy friendships with people older than them. There’s a weird attitude that minors have nothing of value to offer adults besides a relationship/sex, which is...not true? Minors are thinking, living human beings with feelings, thoughts, and opinions. You can talk to them like normal people, because they are. Just obviously don’t talk about/introduce sex or endanger them. Minors don’t bring up sex/activities you’re underage for with an adult. IDK this isn’t a seminar just...don’t be weird. Adults can offer great life experience, support systems, and the basic joys and needs of human connection. Minors can too. Mind your business unless someone’s actually in danger. The next point is a caveat, though:
- If you’re a minor, don’t interact with NSFW blogs/blogs with ‘Minors DNI’, NSFW blogs don’t interact with minors, etc etc. Not your parent or whatever but this is pretty common sense and it’s for everyone’s safety, but especially the NSFW person. internettiquette!
- If you use your TK blog as a side blog (meaning you have another blog as your main blog, not two separate accounts) and don’t want your main exposed, that is up to you. I recommend not liking posts. Also, follow people that you trust. These actions route through your main blog and your main will show up in the notes. You can reblog from a sideblog. If you want to send an ask “as your tk blog”, send an anon and sign it somehow, like ‘hey :) // @/tickle-bugs’. It should tag you in the post so you get a notification when it’s answered!
- Find your people! As an anxious person this one has been hard for me, so I know it’s hard for a lot of people. Fandom is literally a community of shared interest. Peachy and I have an iron bond almost two years later and we met talking over shared interests. You can absolutely find your people here. If someone makes you happy, strike up a conversation! Send an ask! You never know what doors it might open or whose day you might improve :)
- If you were an anon/lurker on someone’s blog and they inspired you to write/submit/start your own, sign your messages!! the common form that I see is either an emoji or [noun/context of the ask]!anon (prodigal!anon (i miss u every day), butterfly!anon, etc.) Let us know how to find and support you!! Those messages produce good brain juice.
- The big finale: Have fun. If you’re not having fun here, maybe you could tweak something to make things enjoyable. Running a blog is like driving a car. Keep your hands on the wheel, respectfully indicate your intentions (flashing lights optional), and be safe. Poebody’s nerfect, y’know. If you make a mistake, course correct. I’m by no means perfect. Your favs aren’t either. Just do your best and have a good time :)
@rosytickles and the anon in my inbox, I hope this helps! Thank you for asking me, I’m very honored that you value my opinon/experience/advice. I apologize if I come off as preachy or aggressive, I envisioned grabbing my younger self by the lapels and shaking me vigorously while I wrote this. Probably a bad idea.
Anywho, hope it helps. Anyone with questions, additions, or comments, my askbox is open! Just be constructive, is all I ask.

Earlier this year, writer and Highsnobiety contributor Eugene Rabkin dissected what it’s really like to work in the fashion industry, the good and the bad. In the brutally honest essay Read This Before You Decide To Work in Fashion, he writes about the industry keeping its grip on its hierarchy as tightly as an aristocracy that knows its hegemony is temporary.
“Fashion has always been the great illusion maker. It ostensibly champions democratization while trading on exclusivity. It nods enthusiastically to demands for inclusivity with token gestures,” he writes. “Fashion gatekeepers keep the gates tightly shut, promulgating the you-can’t-sit-with-us mindset. It does its best to maintain the status quo.”
As Rabkin notes, however, a growing contingent of those entering the industry are realizing that they “cannot depend on the existing power structures of glossy magazines, fashion councils, and conglomerates, and have formed their own networks, at times with great success.”
Yet how much does the fashion establishment really care about changing the structures that have kept the power in the hands of the same people for so long? How much will it fall when those who are denied a seat at the table create a table of their own? Are most traditional luxury brands already playing catch-up with their younger counterparts? And, most importantly — what needs to change in terms of who is let into the room, and for whom it’s time to go? We dive into these layered topics in the discussion below:
THE PANEL
Louis Pisano, Writer and Critic | @louispisano
"I didn’t get into fashion media intentionally. It was around 2010, with the start of Twitter. I had just moved to Europe and I wanted to work in fashion. I was going to Milan all the time and seeing all these people, and I just started tweeting everything I was observing into the void of god knows who. As time went on, it turned into this space where people really wanted to be unfiltered and behind the scenes. People at different online magazines started to offer me to write pieces about what it was like to be behind the scenes; I just sort of fell into it."
Brenda Weischer, Founder of Disruptive Berlin | @brendahashtag
"I was in PR for a little bit. I worked for PR Consulting in New York and then decided instead of kissing the editors’ asses, how about I start writing? I applied to Central Saint Martin’s [in London] to do my Masters in journalism; [then] I realized you can't really make much money, so I wanted to stay freelance. I am now the founder of vintage archive Disruptive Berlin. I was never on Twitter; I was more of a Tumblr person. That switched over to Instagram at some point. I sell vintage clothing, so I'm a bit removed, but all of my friends work in fashion, so it was an everyday topic — what goes on behind the scenes. I'm frustrated that not many people are opinionated in the public eye, but are in their private life."
Hanan Besovic, Commentator | @ideservecouture
"I grew up in Croatia and studied management, small business, and hospitality. When I moved to the United States, I started working in a hotel. [Then] the pandemic hit, and I turned to Instagram and fashion. I started posting stuff on my personal account, [with followers like] my aunt who doesn't know what Givenchy is. So I'm like, 'Okay, this is a completely wrong demographic. I need to create something new.' That’s when I started @ideservecouture. I used memes as my main medium, just because I can reach more people with them. Plus, to be honest, I want to make people laugh, and I want to piss off a couple of people, also."
THE CHAT
Christopher Morency: Welcome all. To start, I want to hear how you see the fashion industry being reported on today, and what role fashion critique plays. Now that brands have decided to open their doors with livestreams, the audience can make up their minds on a collection immediately. do we still need traditional fashion commentating by big magazines and editors?
Brenda Weischer: I think, besides us, not everyone is as opinionated. People want to be told what to say. They want someone else's opinions to look up to and shape their own opinion. Even with TikTok, for example, the first thing I do is go to the comment section, to know what everyone else is thinking. So there's definitely a need for some kind of review. But I agree with you, Chris, I don't really read anything anymore, besides what my friends write. Then on TikTok, there are these 19-year-old fashion students who are doing these reviews, and I keep thinking, “What the fuck are you talking about?” But [on the flipside], you have these [traditional media] reviews where even I, with the same press release and professional knowledge, don’t know what they’re talking about; you’re made to feel stupid. Like, I don’t know this poem you’re referencing. And there’s not much in between — until the last six months. So I think the need for reviews is there, but what’s in mainstream media doesn’t feel authentic at all, especially when you know they’re talking about an advertiser.
Hanan Besovic: Brenda, you’re completely right about the two extremes of reviews. What I’m missing is the critical part. What I’ve learned since doing this is that fashion is very much oriented. It’s okay to praise, but it’s never okay to criticize. And that’s just wrong. When I criticize, I never try to be mean about it. It’s just my opinion. If you're going to get offended by an opinion, that’s 100 percent on you. For example, the other day there was one designer who's been following me for a while; I reviewed his show and I was super positive, but I said he needed to edit, as it looked too busy. The next thing I knew, he unfollowed me. I think the honest criticism [today] is on social media. The praise is on Vogue Runway, because at the end of the day, that’s what [the brands] are paying for. I also think this certain generation of fashion journalists take themselves too seriously.
People want to be told what to say. They want someone else’s opinions to look up to and shape their own opinion.
Weischer: It’s so highbrow now. There’s no fun in anything.
Besovic: Exactly. That’s why I like what’s happening on Instagram with people that do the same kind of thing we do. Let’s just have fun. I know it sounds infantile, but at the end of the day, it’s just clothes.
Louis Pisano: People are going to either buy it or not. They’re not going to not buy it because we made a meme about it or because we said we didn’t like this or that piece.
Morency: Does fashion critique even matter today, regardless of whether it’s written by editors or reviewers on Instagram and TikTok?
Besovic: It depends on who you ask. I think the stupidest thing a designer can do is surround themselves with “yes” people. And that's why, at the core of fashion, you can’t say you don’t like something or something isn’t good. That just doesn’t fly very well. As long as you’re making money, who cares? Have fun with it. You should be happy that people are talking about you. I secretly feel that [Dior’s] Maria Grazia Chiuri loves it when we talk shit about her.
Weischer: Louis, you were very humble to say it doesn't really make a difference to their pay check, but I think it does, at least for my audience. If I really were to continuously talk about someone, it does make a difference, because a lot of people want to be told what's cool and what isn't. There are opinions of taste-makers that at some point do trickle either up or down.
It’s okay to praise, but it’s never okay to criticize. And that’s just wrong. When I criticize, I never try to be mean about it. It’s just my opinion.
Morency: So, what’s changed? Why is this clash between old and new critiquing happening?
Besovic: When you criticize stuff, there is so much more to take into consideration. Before it was just clothes; now, we're critiquing the full company and the decisions that they make. I always say that if you make smart decisions, you’re not going to get criticized. It’s your fault if you fuck up. For example, when it came to Chanel and the Michel Gaubert thing happened with “Wuhan girls,” the brand said they accepted his apology — it’s not your apology to accept.
Morency: I’ve written a bit about brand universes, and how these days it’s about everything from the soundtrack to who is at an event or show to what’s happening outside. Not just the clothing. Brands are still getting used to being critiqued about these other things, outside of fashion. Do you think they want to genuinely listen and evolve when it comes to these things?
Besovic: I really do think as “the chosen,” they cannot shape the narrative that they want, because there's so many other people talking about it all the time. But the scandals change things.
Weischer: Yeah. It's either if their money is at risk, or if there’s public pressure. I don't think there's anything else. Change from within — I don't think that's possible, at this point. I mean, maybe I'm too negative, but I really think these kinds of scandals have a huge effect.
Pisano: I agree. Public perception turns into money.
There’s an extent to how much critique and how much of a voice you’re allowed to have within the industry, especially for new voices.
Morency: So, who can still shift the public perception of brands? Is it still the legacy titles, critics, and editors? Or is it the digitally native generation of commentators and writers, who are a lot more honest and open towards each other’s presence? Or is it even the general public?
Pisano: It’s whoever can make the biggest mess for a brand.
Weischer: I agree – whoever creates the biggest mess. And not in a vicious way, just whoever has a platform and is willing to speak out. But then there are a lot of people with a platform who still have to make money from brands. I find it sad when you speak out about something and the people in your DMs agree, yet they’re still posting [positive] images of them being at the show. That’s frustrating.
Pisano: I can attend a show and just be there and not really post an opinion or anything if the brand wants to invite me. [Now] if you want to pay me for something, we're going to discuss how I'm going to be my authentic self and still partner with you. But I'm not going to publicly praise a brand and then privately [talk negatively about it].
Morency: When it comes to brands opening their door more, to not just invite editors and buyers, do you see more openness in the industry? Or does it keep its nepotistic and gatekeeping reputation?
Pisano: I think it’s a marketing toy. I'm just looking at it as a whole; allowing you to have a voice and work with you only goes so far. There's an extent to how much critique and how much of a voice you're allowed to have within the industry, especially for new voices. I'm the only one out of all of you that Valentino doesn't work with, for example, as I’ve criticized a lot of decisions that Valentino has made, before it was cool and trendy to be diverse. I think the way you do it [Hanan] is genius, because it’s funny and not too vicious. But I can only go so far with humor until I’m genuinely pissed off. And when it loses that sort of funny viral entertainment value for the brand, it’s a no. And that gets you blacklisted. Brands don't like [when] they can't really control you.
I’m aware that we’re slowly closing the doors on ourselves when we criticize somebody, and I think that we’re fine with that, because all of us here want the best for fashion and its future.
Besovic: I 100 percent get what you’re saying, Louis. I hope that my message still gets across with humor, and that people start to talk about [issues]. I’m aware that we’re slowly closing the doors on ourselves when we criticize somebody, and I think that we’re fine with that, because all of us here want the best for fashion and its future.
Morency: In my opinion, the fashion industry still loves the traditional system of building up certain people by allowing the chosen ones into this traditional sequence of gatekeeping steps. The lucky few go to a prestigious fashion school, you get big internships, you get scouted, you enter these incubator programs after which you get the same press coverage, the same stores buy your clothes, and you are the new fashion darling until the next one comes around. What challenges do you see with that system?
Besovic: I will never praise and acknowledge someone who came up through nepotism. I will never praise these people the same way that I am praising, let’s say, a Thebe Magugu, who I think is amazing because he gives me a story, trauma, and beauty, which he puts into the clothes. Your work should speak for itself.
I’m more excited that the voices are changing. I’m excited to see other people’s opinions and not always having the same people in the room.
Morency: But what’s going to shift the industry’s mindset to start thinking this way?
Pisano: Maybe it sounds too pessimistic, but I don’t think that it’s going to change, because we live in such a celebrity-driven culture where fashion has become pay-to-play. Regardless if we think someone like Lila Moss is an adequate model, she still has the last name that will draw in that star power, regardless of whether she executes the walking part of the assignment — she executes the celebrity part of the assignment.
Weischer: Yes, and a magazine no longer sells without a celebrity on the cover. And, to touch back on the university thing — whenever I tell an editor where I study, within a second I get the nod of approval, which is insane, as I don’t know anyone there anymore and was at [Central Saint Martins] for like a year. I remember when people from LVMH came to visit the design studios and would be like, “Okay, we want you for this brand, you for that brand.” Same with magazines. You didn’t even have to apply anywhere.
Morency: To round things off, what brands do it well and do things differently? Who do you get excited about?
Pisano: Telfar, 100 percent. I’m so disappointed that the Telfar x Gap collection didn’t pan out. Then also LaQuan Smith; I’m waiting for him to have that big house moment, because he deserves it.
Besovic: Thebe [Magugu] steals my heart. I’m always excited about Peter Do, because it’s interesting and new. And Schiaparelli.
Weischer: I’m more excited that the voices are changing. I’m excited to see other people’s opinions and not always having the same people in the room. I’m generally excited for anything that’s changing.

Are you doing okay what with all the VV stuff that happened? It seemed like you and Mina were close
Hey hey, thanks for the worries anon! Mina of mvcreates/Violet Vineyard and I were properly talking as friends for only a few months quite a long time ago. Emotionally I’m completely fine, but I do have stuff to say and I do want to help document things if any of it is useful in any way. A lot of it will be dry because it’s just documenting, but some of it will be “juicier” I guess, and I’d like to corroborate some of the things my friends are saying. I’ll put this under the cut for people who don’t want to scroll through all this and/or have no idea what I’m talking about and want to keep it that way!
You guys can check @nuwuhorizons‘s blog to see what exactly is going on and I believe they’re also reblogging some things others who were members are saying. The case of people dogpiling a 19-year-old trans person and making fun of their name is on the blog (post here, wayback machined here).
I can corroborate a bunch of what @rrrawrf-writes (post here, wayback machined here) and @gingerly-writing (post here, wayback machined here) have said. I backread through the interaction that Ginger talks about in her post (of course not the DMs, but the interaction itself).
I know some people may be confused about why Ginger only has that one screenshot of what she said and may not see that as full evidence, but Violet Vineyard had a super strict “don’t screenshot and post anything” with lots of scary looking legal stuff attached to it policy and, well, Ginger can’t be sharing stuff without anyone’s permission if it’s just the message she herself sent, but they’d have grounds to take god knows what action with what backing against her if she posted something else. But, well, for what it’s worth, as someone who read through that conversation a little after it happened, it was certainly a case of dogpiling and left a bad taste in my mouth, and it strikes me as really odd that the mods would try to shut someone down like that.
I haven’t really been doing stuff in writeblr lately as you can probably tell from my blog, but yeah, Mina herself and a lot of people in that particular friend group of hers, as Lisa mentions, have just disappeared off Tumblr. I can also attest to the dogpiling tendencies and this Mina Is Always Right tendency, and the fervor with which people would defend her.
I was honestly never close enough to Mina to be in that friend group. She and I were only really talking to each other for a few months over a year ago. I don’t think I was “writeblr-y” enough to fit in with them. I was also not super active in that server. I didn’t post much about my wips because I in general don’t think I really post a lot about them. Therefore I didn’t get like, massive benefits off of the whole “network” thing, but  I’d reblog some stuff when I saw it. I was probably most known for posting pictures of my plants, lol. And I would occasionally hop in to talk briefly about kpop with like, one person? (They went by Kay and their url was like, lvcrezia? lvcrezias? Something like that.) In fact, probably the last thing I ever said in that server was a super quick conversation about Red Velvet’s “Monster” music video around the time it dropped.
In fact, for the sake of being super transparent/establishing credibility, and for documenting purposes, I’ll list all the non-plant-pictures and non-kpop conversations I can remember actually participating in. Some of these will lead off into bigger topics, and I’ll specify those. But first, a word.
TO ANY OF THE FORMER MODS WHO MIGHT COME AFTER ME FOR SAYING THINGS ABOUT THE SERVER, SINCE THIS HAS APPARENTLY HAPPENED TO OTHERS: The server is deleted, and so is the text of the whole “contract” (yes, really) that people had to agree to in order to join VV. I remember that the agreement made sure we didn’t post screenshots publicly, but other than that I genuinely do not remember the text and I have no way of referencing it to keep in line with it since the server is deleted. I do not remember if documenting things like this is against anything I have agreed to, I have no record of the agreement, and I have not been notified of any place to access a record of the agreement before the server was deleted. If my post is some sort of violation, you cannot hold me accountable for rules that I am unable to follow, and I would greatly appreciate not being targeted with empty threats shrouded in scary legal language. If you have any point of contention with what I have said, feel free to take it up either publicly or privately. Please do @ me if it’s specific to me; I’m not really the vagueposting kind. If any of you want me to delete this post, you will need to provide actual proof of the agreement that I made by joining Violet Vineyard, and you will also need to prove that the rules were not edited after I agreed to them. If any of them were follow-up rules not from the beginning of the server, it’s possible that I did not see them and therefore you need to provide proof that I agreed to those, too. In addition, since image editing is what set off this avalanche in the first place hence we’re all aware that there’s software that allows us to edit images and pass them off as an original thing, you’ll need to provide proof that any screenshots/images are undoctored. Furthermore, since the rules have been deleted with the server, as the method I used to agree to follow them, you must prove that my agreement is still valid, since it seems to me it’s been nullified since it’s, well, gone either through deletion or kicking me out alongside everyone else. Tl;dr you don’t scare me lol.
Anyways, back to a list of the non-kpop, non-plant-pics, non-my-wips-promo conversations I can actually remember:
On January 5, 2020, the server had a conversation about Roshani Chokshi’s book The Gilded Wolves. I can give the date because during/in the aftermath of the conversation, which I talked about the book in, Mina DMed me quickly. (This was also the last time Mina ever directly contacted me.) I’ll talk about this later.
In February 2020 I believe I quickly mentioned getting concert tickets.
Either early this year or late last year I think I posted some stuff about landscape photography, with some photos of the beach.
I believe I posted a couple fashion pics at some point?
Back in May 2019 I got some kinda weird asks about Violet Vineyard and I think people were talking about that, and I assume I participated since I was the one who received the asks. At that time VV was like a super new server and didn’t really have much as far as the issues we’ve been talking about go, so I defended it. (I’ll be talking about this later.)
Probably in June/July 2019 people in the server had a discussion about Black Muslim characters and representation, initiated by me for one of my WIPs.
I think we talked about South Asian sweets at some point???
I believe in April/May 2019, there was some stuff in that server reagarding “drama” with Castor who at that time went by the url pilipalea that I honestly don’t remember much of. Castor was never in VV, but I believe they were in a server with Mina at some other point. There was something about grammar and proofreading?? (I’ll be referencing this soon as well.)
I helped someone with their computer science homework at some point.
I asked for r&b music recs at some point either late 2019 or earlier 2020.
I’ve also talked about ethnic clothes I think.
We’ve talked about Hindu nationalism and how awful it is.
I think we’ve talked about tone policing and how woc are often portrayed as “aggressive.”
We’ve talked about health/fitness and exercise.
I recommended Jade City and some other books I’m a fan of in there.
Probably talked about Bollywood movies at some point.
The fact that I can remember probably most of my conversations that lasted more than like, one message in there is, I think, a pretty good testament to a) me having at least a kind of decent memory and b) I wasn’t participating in the server so regularly that the conversations kind of blend together. I know this is all kind of long and dry for anyone who’s here for drama purposes lol, but I did want to establish that I’ve been in that server for quite a while and that I wasn’t monitoring it heavily; in fact, I had it muted very soon after joining it.
I wasn’t super close to anyone that I’d met through VV. People who are friends that I still regularly contact who were in VV with me, I had met through other servers and other interactions on Tumblr. I’ll disclose right now that I have been longtime friends with Ginger, Lisa, and Eff (@time-to-write-and-suffer), who have all come out against VV, and that we are in our own servers with people from writeblr. Ginger and Lisa were both in VV, Eff has never been.
Okay, back to maybe “juicier” stuff.
Mina had always positioned herself almost as this “tumblr mom” type. She’d reference her age a lot, which would contrast a lot with how a significant portion of the members were much younger and, I think, set up the dynamic of people looking up a lot to her and always coming to her defense. After all, we’re talking a bunch of passionate kids who’d found a writeblr network. And the server definitely seemed “legit”; I myself was pretty impressed with just how tightly organized everything was, and like I mentioned, there was fancy legal language to ~protect their rights~ and whatnot. Mina herself seemed so accomplished with so many talents: she’d post her writing and artwork, I believe she’d made a couple pieces of music, she’d work out and keep in shape, she had a seemingly wonderful loving relationship with her husband, she was active in research fields professionally and as an outbreak responder, and she, of course, had a significant online presence as a “big writeblr.” I remember when she’d started blowing up, so soon after her blog had been created, because of her prolific content and friendly persona. People, especially younger ones who had no other writeblr support group, looked up to her and trusted her. And the nature of the server was to shower everyone in praise, so Mina found herself on the receiving end of quite a bit of it. Mina would also actively boost and review other writers’ content, genuinely engaging with it and providing feedback, support, and valuable resources.
Mina also had a tight-knit group of adult friends. Some of them I believe carried over from pre-VV times (incuding CJ of typewriter-jade if I’m remembering correctly, who made fun of the trans person’s name in the reblog chain in the link to nuwuhorizons’s blog), while some were made afterwards. They would act super friendly and familiar with each other, which I think contributed to a lot of people falling into this little “friendship” super fast. They were also authority figures and role models, and tended to agree with each other, so everyone just went along with that.
These factors, I think, heavily influenced the dogpiling tendencies. People were eager to defend their community, where they’d found so much love and support for their work. Minors would go along with adults in conversations. When someone said something, others would enthusiastically support them. And people were just so into each other that I really couldn’t keep up, which is probably why I didn’t participate too much. People became just super fast friends and the server was so large and so seemingly “professional” and structured in how it was made. I think people just kind of assumed everyone in there was great and their friend who could be trusted deeply, when in reality that’s just impossible if there are like, 100+ members. Meaning if something minorly negative happened (like on that literal eleven-year-old’s blog), everyone would come in to say something to demonstrate their emphatic loyalty, even when it became excessive for something as small as an ask game done wrong.
This happened with the Gilded Wolves discussion as well. Someone stepped in to say that the way Gilded Wolves coded its antagonists as this shady secret society of people was antisemitic, and everyone joined in to rip the book apart without having even read it. I joined in the conversation to state that I didn’t see it that way, since that shady antagonist group was very much coded as white Christians (their names are all French Christian names) and were colonizers (meaning making them this shadowy group of powerful and evil people was accurate) and one of the protagonists, who is Jewish, is opposing them and antisemitism is portrayed as horrible, and that the book had had (if I’m remembering correctly) Jewish sensitivity readers and multiple Jewish book reviewers really enjoyed and recommended it. Then Mina stepped in to say that multiple Jewish journals she followed rated the book highly and recommended it meaning the accusation of antisemitism clashed heavily with what a lot of other people thought, and that since me and the other person who was saying the book was antisemitic were the only ones who had read it or were familiar with it in any capacity, it wasn’t fair for everyone to be judging it like that. It was like she’d flipped a switch: people were suddenly much more “reasonable” and “fair” and willing to give the book a chance, just because she’d stepped in. (As a quick note, I don’t remember exactly whether Mina stepped in first or if I stated my opinion first. I also want to mention that Mina DMed me to state that the person who accused the book of antisemitism had expressed some Zionist sentiments in the past and to say that maybe their take on the book could have come from Islamophobia with them maybe assuming obviously ethnic name of the author was a Muslim name. The Zioinist stuff is something I can’t actually speak on since again, I have no access to the server anymore and I don’t remember that person’s url. This was the last time Mina DMed me or I her.)
I wrote all that out because I think it illustrates a few things. Firstly, a good example of the tendencies of people going with the flow of things even when it led to dogpiling/drastic conclusions. When I say they were really trashing that book, I mean it! Secondly, it demonstrates the willingness of everyone to go along with what Mina said. Third, it shows that Mina was capable of stepping in to prevent dogpiling (and, seemingly, she would, at least if her beliefs aligned with the opposite of whatever incited the dogpiling) and that people would listen to her and actually change their minds.
Whether or not Mina supported something was pretty important. Of course, it was her server, so she was definitely allowed to run it how she saw fit, but she would very swiftly pass judgement on things and everyone would just comply. One time, I think there were more than one different threads of conversation happening in the general channel of the server. Jess suggested making a second general channel to allow for other conversations, as is common in a lot of servers, including ones I’m in and moderate/own/have some power in. I don’t remember if I supported that suggestion or if I only backread that conversation, but I know at least one other person agreed. Mina said that as an older person (she’d very frequently bring up her age) she thought people could just wait for their turn in a conversation and didn’t even consider trying it out. Other mods, I believe, backed her up and said no to the second general conversation channel. I remember being a little confused as to why nobody even considered trying a member’s suggestion to make the server more easy to participate it and help provide additional structure/support how big it was, and why it was shut down because people could just wait for their turn, when clearly the general channel was getting overloaded before our eyes. But Mina didn’t see the need, so therefore nobody else wanted to do anything about it, and nobody ever mentioned it again, I think. I know this is a super minor instance lol, but I do think it illustrates something about the behavior in the server and how it was run. It’s not like other channels weren’t added based on need; one was created for the 2018 elections, one was created for talking about race in June during the height of BLM protests having news coverage, I’m pretty sure one was created for talking about the coronavirus. So, the mods were watching conversations and responding as they saw fit, they just wouldn’t field this request, for some reason. Obviously conversations getting muddled in a general channel isn’t as significant as major political events, antiblack racism, or a pandemic, but these channels were made to improve the server experience and likely to prevent these topics from completely overloading other channels, so, well.
Okay, the Castor/pilipalea stuff and dogpiling. I’ll say this stuff now because Castor has opened up about it (here [wayback machined] and here [archived in a google doc]), so I see that as permission for others to comment on it. If I’m remembering correctly and looking back at the right things, there was something about Mina giving advice on a grammatical error to one of her mutuals, or something asking if her mutuals wanted grammatical advice? Castor vagueblogged, presumably about that, and talked about classism in expecting good grammar from people, which is a valid issue, but seemed misapplied to this instance of someone consenting to receive advice on grammar/syntax/mechanics, if that’s what the vagueblogging was about. I reached out to Mina to let her know that I thought someone was vagueblogging about her, and she told me about past conflicts with Castor. I also reached out to Castor over DMs to ask what the vagueblogging was about, because you genuinely never know; classist prescriptivism is harmful and bad, and so many people on Tumblr are in so many different circles that similar topics may come up coincidentally. Castor wasn’t clear with me either about what the post was targeting and skirted around naming names.
At this point, looking back, it still seems to be that it was about Mina, especially considering that Castor had previous history with her and others in her circle. Mina was irritated by the vagueblogging (who likes being vagueblogged about?) and also informed me, all the way back in April 2019, about this past server drama that Castor mentioned. It seems to me that it stemmed from a misunderstanding: Mina and I believe other mods noticed another person using Castor’s PSDs without credit. Mina checked with Castor about whether people should be crediting them for PSDs and Castor said that, yes, they wanted credit; you can see this interaction in the screenshot Castor linked on their post.
This is where the accounts of what happened diverge: Mina expressed to me that she and the other mods weren’t very harsh since they’d seen that Castor’s friend had credited Castor in the past, so they just wanted to remind Castor’s friend to give credit, without knowing that Castor’s friend had permission to use the PSDs without crediting. I was told that Mina and the team of mods were professional in their handling of this; Castor has stated in their post that the group was extremely harsh. Since I don’t have any screenshots or exact records of what they said before I was in contact with Mina, I can’t comment, so I’ll withhold judgement on that. According to Mina, she and the other mods had not been very vocal about this crediting/PSD stuff, and very few people knew about it, so it did seem like Castor had attacked Mina out of nowhere.
What I can say is that the VV members were certainly quick to respond to the grammar vagueblog, and that if I’m remembering correctly, readily jumped to Mina’s defense. I distinctly remember that one VV member specifically asked whether it was about Mina in a reblog. This happened pretty early on in VV’s existence and I believe was the first major “drama” that VV got embroiled in. Looking back, I do think it was fair to be critical of Castor’s post. But this was also the first look at the tendencies people had of getting embroiled in the fervor of any perceived slight against a member (in particular Mina).
I noticed this again when I received anons that were sort of bitter about VV’s existence in May 2019, way before VV had gained the reputation that it has now. People were very quick to respond with hostility and slightly amplify the anger expressed by other members, and little by little things got really out of hand. I can totally understand being upset and irritated, since the asks were kind of unwarranted and the sender did apologize if I remember correctly. But there was a huge outpouring of vicious language from a lot of the members, and this was, I think, the first instance of proper dogpiling in VV, especially since it was an easy antagonist; the sender was out of line, and they were totally anonymous.
These were the only two instances of going to bat for VV that I ever participated in. For the other things, I either only backread or missed them completely. While they don’t really paint VV in a super bad light, not like the dogpiling of an eleven-year-old that Jess mentions in her post, it did give me a pretty good idea of how VV handled controversies.
I’ve mentioned some of my theories of why this dogpiling/toxicity happened. I’d also like to add that Mina would often send concise, decisively-worded statements about things. I think this may have come across as final-word judgments to a lot of people, so they would take that as the last say on a certain matter and escalate in severity of their response from there. And like, you should trust your friends and take what they say in good faith. But you still need to be thinking critically and considering your response, especially when you haven’t known someone for very long. And this, I think, was a big source of toxicity in the server. There were just so many people responding to the same issues and aligning their beliefs, and they’d build off each other and create an environment where these kinds of responses were okay. Plus, VV was always portrayed as a tight-knit family when not everyone knew each other and not everyone was active (as is totally normal for a massive server), so this also contributed to people wanting to defend each other all the time. And I don’t think the mod team did an adequate job of shutting it down, despite the veneer of a structured, sort of more “professional” space.
Okay, now onto the art stuff.
Disclaimer, I don’t draw digital or physical art. I was always aware that Mina was certainly at least using references for her work. In some cases I could even pinpoint which pictures were used, like one where the faceclaim was Ranveer Singh. I also received fanart of one of my characters that, of course, looked very similar to the faceclaim. It certainly was clear some tracing had happened in that picture because of the level of detail in the chikankari embroidery, but like…..it’s free fanart, chikankari isn’t copyrighted, and that embroidery is super difficult to draw anyways. What I was not aware of was Mina apparently tracing images and using them to advertise for commissions, which is something I do not condone. I also know my photography and photo editing tools, so I was aware that there was some filtering/editing going on. I’m not sure if Mina traced and didn’t disclose it for commissioned art.
Okay, now the server shutting down stuff!
I was completely unaware of the dogpiling/transphobia stuff happening in the server because I had it on mute. I only found out about all this two days ago. I received the message where everyone was @’ed about VV’s “migration” off Tumblr and that the server would be shut down. I can confirm that the concern was about mirror sites and that the server did discuss these mirror sites as a big intellectual property issue. I didn’t know people wanted the server shutting down to be kept so secret, and I honestly cannot think of a reason why; I feel like if those mirror site concerns were serious, people would be trying to spread the word on writeblr? So I think that people are right to be a little suspicious of the exact reason for the server’s closing.
I think I should mention also that people were pretty much always friendly with me on VV. I met a bunch of cool people, and Mina was always kind and supportive with me. @radley-writes has echoed similar sentiments here (wayback machined here) and here (wayback machined here) while being critical of the environment in VV.
I know this post is like, wildly long and probably quite dry and rambly at points, but I hope it does provide some specific examples to back up some of the criticisms of VV and document it a bit better.
Thank you for reading! I’ll make sure to edit this to add stuff if I remember things/see the need.
I also want to state that my post is more a critique of the environment than anything. I’m not trying to attack anyone at all, I’m just giving an account of stuff that has happened, my level of involvement, and my own thoughts on all this.
I also want to say that I am completely open to hearing what any of you have to say. Feel free to critique/discuss anything I’ve said in this post with me. If you want to vent about your experiences in/with Violet Vineyard, my inbox and DMs are totally open. If you want to keep things confidential, I won’t break your trust or reveal your identity (unless you start idk, spouting racist stuff at me or something). If you want to anonymously tell people about an experience, feel free to shoot me an anon.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful day! I’m sending you lots of love. Take care! <3

Monday morning at 10am sharp there’s a knock on Liam’s study door. He calls for them to enter and Bastien directs a sharp suited Jacob to one of the chairs before Liam’s desk. Liam stands noticing the lack of a bow from Jacob, he shakes the man’s outstretched hand in a way too firm handshake before they both take their seats. Bastien takes the one next to Jacob.
“Thank you for coming Jacob.”
Jacob smiles widely at the king.
“No problem Liam. Anything for my favourite client, right?” He raises his eyebrows at Liam who can feel his jaw tightening in annoyance at the cockiness and lack of royal protocol shown by the agent. “So what’s all this about then?”
Liam addresses him directly.
“We’ve had some concerning mail coming in addressed to Lady Riley, the content is quite disturbing. We wanted to ask if you’ve had anything similar sent to the CTA office?”
Jacob looks from Liam to Bastien and back again.
“Seriously? The number of nuts writing fan letters jumps every time Riley’s on the cover of a magazine. It’s nothing new.” He shakes his head, amused at the two serious men before him. “Everyone in the public eye gets weirdos writing to them, it’s par for the course. I can’t believe a guy like you hasn’t had his fair share of random fan mail, am I right?”
Liam grits his teeth.
“Maybe you could just humour us for a moment then and answer the question?”
Jacob lets out a small nervous laugh.
“Ok. Well it’s even more prevalent now with social media. We bin any letters or gifts if they arrive at the office. Hell, we don’t even open them, we wouldn't have the time. Our digital media team handle comments online, any dodgy or damaging comments are deleted. Some of the first few comments on an occasional post are responded to on Riley’s official Pictagram page. That’s done by one of our staff members posing as her, 3 of whom have access to the user names and passwords of all of her official social media accounts. Only Riley herself has access to her personal, private accounts.” Jacob waves his arm dismissively.
Liam nods. His dark blue eyes don’t even flicker. His fingers drum on the table as if to a silent beat only he can hear. Jacob realises that this is a man who needs to be in control.
“Bastien here is looking into it.” He sweeps his arm towards his bodyguard. “In the meantime I want to appoint a personal bodyguard to Riley. I need them to be looped into all of her appointments and schedules.”
Jacob raises his hand motioning between the two men. “Let’s just everybody calm down. She doesn’t need this kind of worry right now. It’s not worth upsetting her. This overkill could really freak her out.”
Bastien responds. “Your Majesty, I can’t be responsible for her safety if she doesn’t understand what’s going on. I need her to understand how serious this could be. The social media thing has made my job exponentially harder. It's allowed fans the perception that they are engaging in direct conversation with Lady Riley. The issue is that the obsessive fan cannot make the distinction that when she is saying 'good morning' or 'I love you all' on Pictagram or whatever the hell it’s called, that it’s not her just talking directly to them. That, combined with location-based services that geotag her whereabouts and with photo-centric apps like Pictagram that give visual references. The opportunity increases for those that don't have the best intentions to track her whereabouts. The monarchy have plenty of enemies and terrorist factions. Even without this added threat of an overeager fan, she should have a close protection guard appointed.”
Liam nods at his guard.
Jacob scoffs. “This is ridiculous. It’s just some nutter, they never act on these things. Trust me, they just sit behind the anonymity of a keyboard or letter.”
Liam glares at Jacob with cold hard eyes. “Even so Jacob I agree with Bastien, he has a lot of experience and I trust his judgement on this. She needs to know. I promise I won’t scare her. Please ensure that any suspicious correspondence whether digital or physical is sent to Bastien’s team.”
Jacob leans back in his chair and raises one leg onto the other casually resting his ankle on his knee. “Look, I get it. You want to be the protective boyfriend. A bodyguard is fine. But you throwing your weight around, keeping an eye on her movements, knowing her schedule, isn’t that a bit much? Her carefree attitude is what people love about her. Her ability to be one of them. If you’ve got her wound up worrying about what or who is around the corner we’ll lose that innocence, that spark that makes her who she is. If I could bottle that and give it to all of my clients trust me I would.” He leans forward in his chair. “I’ll level with you Liam, she’s special, she’s got something, she could be big, she could go places. She could make it internationally outside of this small country. The American angle is taking off at a pace, they love the royal stuff. Don’t stifle her. Don’t dull her sparkle.”
Liam’s wonders if the guy ever shuts up. He’s not sure if he’s just insulted him or his country more.
“Jacob, thank you for your opinion. However it is my responsibility to provide protection for my girlfriend. The paparazzi are already overstepping the mark as it is. I won’t allow her to become gossip fodder to fill the pages of salacious magazines and tabloids.” He manages to get out through gritted teeth.
Jacob steeples his fingers beneath his chin and eyes the king carefully.
“About that. Is that official, like, is she ‘officially’ the kings girlfriend?” He air quotes the word officially. “Because I’ve not seen anything official come out of the palace about that. I could get you both on a TV chat show to announce it. Diane Cooper is big right now, her Saturday night show rakes in the viewers.” Bastien looks at the agent with wide eyes. Liam imperceptibly shakes his head at his guard.
“Jacob, please let me and my own team handle any media engagements that involve me. If and when Lady Riley is ready to disclose our relationship to the press we will. And it certainly won’t be on a chat show, as much as I believe the Royal Family could do with modernising, there are appropriate channels to follow. In the meantime I would appreciate it if my name was kept out of any appearances or interviews.”
Jacob disregards what the kings just said and continues.
“You know that’s what they’re waiting for right? Your email direct to Ana de Luca kinda let the cat out of the bag on that one.” He smirks and holds up his hands. “But hey, who am I to tell The King what to do, right?” He winks at Liam and Bastien nearly chokes on the laugh that he’s holding in. Liam widens his eyes at the patronising agent, at a loss for words.
“Right. Good. Well. My Royal Communications Director Countess Madeleine Amaranth would like to meet with you. She’s waiting in the small conference room. Bastien will take you.”
As soon as they leave he emails Madeleine asking that she goes through expected royal protocols with Jacob during their meeting.

Later that night Liam lays with Riley’s warm naked body entwined in his arms on the large grey sofa in his sitting room. Their clothes lay messily in several piles on the floor around the room where they landed in the couples haste to lose them as soon as they entered his quarters. He pulls a soft cashmere throw from the back of the couch and covers them both over.
“Love, there’s something I need to talk to you about.” His fingers trace lazily up and down her spine as she snuggles into his broad chest.
“Hmmm?”
“I don’t want you to be worried, ok?” He says softly. She pushes herself up off of his warm chest, covering herself with the throw, holding it up to her chest with one hand.
“Liam you know by saying that you’re making me worried right?”
“Sorry. It’s just Bertrand came to me with some fan mail that had been sent to the estate. They were quite disturbing. I don’t want you to worry about them, Bastien is looking into it and your personal protection officer will be with you the day you get back from the US. It’s probably nothing. I just want you to be aware. Let Bastien know if anything suspicious happens ok? After what happened at the Homecoming Ball I don't want anything to happen to you.” He tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Riley’s mouth goes dry. She tries to conjure up an image of what a crazy fan may look like but comes up blank. Instead memories of the masked gun man from the Homecoming Ball fill her head and she shivers involuntarily.
“Why didn’t you tell me about this sooner? Why wasn’t I shown the letters? What the hell was Bertrand thinking, keeping this from me?” Her face creases in concern.
“You don’t need to read stuff like that my love. Honestly it’s probably nothing. Just be careful. People are always looking to attack the monarchy, and you’re part of that now.”
“Liam I’m not part of the monarchy!” She laughs at the absurdity of his words. He pulls her to him kissing her forehead and pulling her back down against his chest.
“You’re mine Riley, and that makes you part of the monarchy even if it’s not official. I just want to protect you.”
She sighs and relaxes against him. “Ok. Thank you for telling me. I promise I’ll be careful, but I’m not changing my life Liam. I don't want to end up scared to go out or scared to live a normal life. You know I can handle myself, I’m from New York remember.” She laughs to hide her nervousness at his revelation.
“I know you can. Just be careful my love.” He kisses the top of her head snaking his arms under the soft cashmere blanket, his hands stroking up and down the sensitive skin on her sides. “I couldn't bare it if anything happened to you.” She raises her head and kisses his lips tenderly.
“I love how protective you are of me.”
“I promised I would take care of you and I intend to keep that promise.” He kisses her deeply, his tongue softly pressing through her lips and into her mouth, tangling with her own.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful you look naked and in my arms?” He asks in low breathy tones. “But then again you always look beautiful.”
Desire spreads like wildfire through Riley’s body as their lips once again meet, this time in a fierce clash, she savours his exquisite mouth with fervour as his hands roam her body. Before long they find their way to her ass, squeezing and caressing the soft curves, his fingers trail their way down the crease making her shiver, they then dip into her soaking entrance, stroking the soft inner flesh. She lets out whimper as she feels his hardness beneath her.
“Already?” she murmurs into his mouth, surprised that it’s taken barely minutes for him to get hard again following their first frantic lovemaking that landed them here, naked on his couch. She can feel his smirk on her lips.
“You know what you do to me.” He tells her between kisses. “I could never get enough of you. You look so sexy with that just fucked look, your lips all swollen, your hair all mussed up. I can’t resist taking you again.” Her body succumbs to the consuming desire and desperate need building within her and she raises her hips up off of him pushing her ass back into his hand, intensifying the pressure. “You obviously want it again too. Do you like how my fingers feel inside you?”
“Oh yes, oh god yes.” Riley moans grinding back onto his hand. Liam torments her with his lips leaving a trail of fire on every spot he kisses, he makes his way along her neck, pulling with his teeth at her earlobe.
“Tell me exactly what you want.” He whispers in her ear. Every inch of her body is alive with desire for him, she’s surprised she can utter any words at all.
“Oh god Liam, I want you inside me right now.” As he removes his fingers from inside her his lips reclaim hers with a fierce passion, his teeth nipping at the lower one. Riley wraps her palm around his hard shaft, pumping up and down, relishing the sight of him losing control as a low groan reverberates from his chest. The next second Liam grabs her ass and lifts her onto him, an “Oh” escapes her as she slides down his hard length, letting it fill her completely. A slow tremble spreads through her from the spot where their bodies are joined as she moves herself up and down on him. His hips impatiently thrust up to meet her and she presses her palms down on his pelvis.
“Not so fast, I want to savour the feeling of you inside me.” She whimpers as she slowly lifts herself up and down him.
“Fuck, but you feel so good Riley.” Liam mutters groaning and arching back into the couch with pleasure. He drops his hand between her legs and circles her sensitive clit with his thumb. As his expert fingers flick and rub her her pulse races and pleasure dances through her nerve endings, erupting in stars behind her eyes. She cries out incoherent words and he feels her clenching and releasing him as her orgasm takes hold of her.
“I love it when you come so hard you lose the power of speech.” He tells her.
“Oh god Liam, I want at least another one of them before you finish.” She laughs.
“Is that a challenge?” He laughs breathlessly back at her, unable to stop his hips rising up to meet hers. “Get up, I want to take you from behind.” Riley’s already weak knees weaken further at his strong no-nonsense command. She’s too aroused to put up any objections as he easily lifts her off of him and places her back down on her knees on the couch. He presses a hand into the top of her back lowering her head down into the couch cushion, he takes her legs in his hands and spreads them open before him. Liam kneels behind her and dips his tongue into her folds, her knees buckle as it delves into her, licking her on the inside. She gasps, her fingers griping the cushions as his tongue circles her clit and drags all the way back towards her ass. He rises from his knees and poises himself at her entrance, teasingly dragging the tip up and down her sensitive flesh. When Riley can’t stand any more she pushes back onto him. Liam loses control driving into her deeply letting out a long drawn out “Fuuuck” as he thrusts into her. He grips her hair in one hand, gently pulling on it making her back arch and her head move back towards him, he snakes his other hand under her, his fingers grazing at her swollen clit. Riley steadies herself on her arms as the pulsing between her legs becomes too intense and another orgasm rips through her making her legs give way beneath her, Liam holds onto her by the hips, his strokes getting faster and harder, with a guttural groan he empties himself inside her and they both collapse in a sweaty panting heap on the couch.
“I don't think I’m going to recover quite so quickly from that one.” He laughs as he rolls onto his back, pulling her under his arm and laying her head on his chest. Smoothing her damp hair off her face he places a soft kiss on her forehead as she tries to control her breathing and still her shaking legs. “I love you so much, you know that don't you?”
Riley smiles up at him with a soppy lopsided grin. “I love you too my king.”

so here I am for old times sake. it’s been 5 years and a lot has changed. but i’m kinda still the same. maybe my inner monologue doesn’t sound as self-assured as it did when I was 15. maybe i don’t romanticise the shit out of every 2 second eye contact i make with cute strangers. maybe i don’t grammar well anymore because i think it’s a cute look. Oh wow. so much of the world has changed. facial recognition, instagram shops, the pandemic... so many new songs i play on repeat until i’m sick of them. i’m a lot less motivated than i was before, and i’m ashamed to admit that. i have smile lines. i feel more and more defeated everyday (actually, we’re trying to work on this). but yh the sad emo vibes never quite dissipated like i dreamed they would, i felt so betrayed by the order of things and the way of the world that i lost a lot of hope. gave up on myself (a bit... a lot sometimes). but other times, it’s gucci. i feel like i’m definitely more cringe than cheesy now. not sure if that’s a good thing, pretty sure it’s not.
hmm. what hasn’t changed? still unfortunately in love with love, but i can mostly see the difference between real life and the cute shit that happens in my head. i’m learning to have faith, to trust. to start living life and exist in the same dimension as other people because even though it sucks, it’s better than existing alone in your head. i realised that studying will only get you a quarter of the way to things and unfortunately stopped that shit. it wasn’t a good idea because i didn’t pick anything else up. i’m still writing songs. still singing them badly. BUT my singing has improved marginally:) i still love my parents, family is all good (touch wood). still a bit too impressionable but we’re working on building a stronger willpower and independence. still love taylor swift. still want to run away to the creative industry. still want to runaway sometimes (in general). I still write! sometimes. wow, i guess some things really just don’t change.
The good? Hmm my eyes have been opened to the multi-dimensions of wealth and inequality and cultural differences that exist in the world. I am thankful for that and didn’t know that money could buy so much. but simultaneously feel disheartened that the discrepancy is so large between people at birth. inequity is real and idk how i feel about that because i really believed in the natural justice system. and then I was so caught up in these feelings of betrayal and injustice that i forgot that i am lucky enough to have the opportunity to change things. I forgot about it for 5 years and now it feels like it’s too late. i know it’s not.
that was a digression.
the good. okay. hmm discovered korean dramas and the mastery that is cinema and how it evokes emotions through stories and idk that’s just a piece of my soul coming together. i work out occasionally. sadly i stopped dance but i’m vowing to sign up for classes once i have the money. i got a spotify membership and spend my days making playlists for myself and it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I really hate how my inner core is so soft and romantic, it’s not fit for the capitalist society that we’re living under. i have friends, i like them, they like me. there is a guy, maybe. there were a few guys actually. i’m not sure how long this one is going to be around for GAHHH omg imagine if i re-read this in five years time and i’m laughing at myself because he screwed me over so bad idk. i have bad self-esteem issues. i am kinda joking, kinda not. okay, i like him but let’s move onto another topic. i’m trying my best to adult and be honest with my feelings and approach things with feigned maturity to mask my pre-teen thoughts. let’s leave it at that:)
i remember that taylor said that the lucky one was the hardest song to write for the red album. because it was solely about her and her life. no guys (apart from the second verse but okay that’s not central to the song). it’s the same for me. i don’t want to talk about the direction of my professional life because it scares me more than messing my life up romantically. for now, i’m beginning to see the role of passion and interest in work and it’s importance. I’m trying my best to walk towards that direction because i know that ultimately i want a career that I would love to work overtime for. but i’m still trying to balance the scales between what i want and the confinements of reality. i need to make money. sometimes it feels like an either or kind of situation and i don’t know what to do. but maybe this is just standard 20 year old thoughts. okay but we have 2 months left of uni so i’m going back to studying. i hope that when i look back on this i would have a 2:1 bachelors (but let’s be honest we want a first)
some final thoughts for 25 year old me because why not make your tumblr a time-capsule? dodie-style.
what are you listening to right now? I’m listening to 21 by gracie. Are you seeing anyone? Honestly, I don’t see you in a steady relationship because i feel like your self-esteem will get in the way of things - either that or you get your shit together and focus on your career too much. I hope it’s the latter. I hope family is all well and healthy. call them. right now, if you’re not living with them. DEAR GOD PLS don’t still be living with them. OH GOD DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN FLAT/HOUSE?? where are you by the way? london? what are you doing right now career-wise? how’s it going? is it what you want to do? does it fit in with your life plan? please tell me you have a life plan by now. i hope i’m proud of you. i hope you’re working hard. how are you? really? are you rich enough to afford therapy and weekly spin/pilates sessions? what’s up with your social circle? are you still writing? ARE THERE DRONES EVERYwhere? How’s chloe? Elizabeth? Jason? Update me, what happened with the guy - i want to hear a story. do you cook now? did you manage to turn your personality type from a 2/9 enneagram to a 3? bitch we gonna work on this. do you still write songs? can you sing? you don’t have kids right lmao pls no god help us. what’s your yearly salary post-tax? did you start dancing again? did you start to learn piano again? what happened with the pandemic? how long were you quarantined for? do you still make spotify playlists haha? what tv series are you currently binging? do you hate me? please tell me your still blogging ur life on ur private instagram. how many followers do you have now? who are you having conversations right now with on facebook? what are your colleagues like? are you less people orientated now that you’ve realised that they cannot provide you with the love that you are depriving yourself of from yourself? DO YOU READ? are you the perfect health-freak, ig-girl, smart business woman, go-getter in her white suit at the glass media company that you dreamed about being at those dark spin sessions? GOD IMAGINE. I hope you are but i don’t have faith right now. pls tell me you don’t teach (or you teach and ur salary is insane in a good way). are you a journalist? you didn’t go into consulting right? did you study again after uni? are you the screenwriter that you’ve dreamed about? did your poetry account blow up and now you’re a full time poet? I still kinda hope you work at a nice glass office (brand consulting, advertising, media, journalism) and wear cute coords suits to work. and i hope you’re writing on the side because it’s who you are. I hope you’re reading lots and I hope you’re super smart and switched on. I hope you’re memory has improved a lot. I hope you’re in love, I hope he loves you back and I hope you know that too. I hope you have a great and healthy relationship with your parents and see your extended family and grandparents often. I hope everyone is healthy and I hope you took your parents to duck and waffle like you wanted (don’t do it when you’re poor though). I hope you’re taking care of your health and eating well. I hope you’re still dreaming in a realistic way. I hope you have great mentors and a supportive friend group. I hope you’re living your best life. re-read the defining decade. but i hope you don’t reminisce to much anymore and don’t write too many songs because you’re 25, time to break out the novel shit. I hope you’ve travelled alot. I hope you spend a few more summers in china falling in love with life and yourself again. how is your chinese? are you still a romantic? tell me, have you changed, if at all? do you read the news? are you less cynical about yourself and more realistic or less optimistc about the world? I hope you are. contingencies are important.
are you excited for the future? I hope you are. if not, please change, you have time, all you need is faith and diligence. hope you’re holding up well. Me? at 20? I’m excited about what my 25 year old self is going to be like, like i was excited to see what my gcse results were going to be like. I hope the results are the same. work hard. i love you. hope you love yourself more. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. have faith. :) i can’t do much for you, but i hope i did a lot to get to where you are right now. hoping is useless, i’m going to work now.
take care x

Love Without A Name
Chapter Thirteen: We’re Live Love
Word Count: 3577

Tumblr media
Warnings: Fluff, IMPLIED SMUT AT THE END
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You're going to dig a trench in the carpet if you keep pacing like that, mate." Harrison laughs, causing Tom to flip him off while he waits for his manager's list of options of what we can do to address what had happened on Friday.
Tom had kept the two of us inside the day after the incident to focus on us, and relaxing. We watched movies, cuddled, and had lots of take-out. He had even gone out and let our family and friends know that our phones would be off the whole day so no one would worry. It had been well needed.
"Okay, thanks Brian. We will discuss it and I will let you know what we decide before going further," a pause, "You too, yup, bye." Tom ends the call with a huff raking his fingers into his hair.
"What he say?" Harry asks, sliding his mug between his hands against the counter of the kitchen island.
"He said it was up to me if I want to discuss what happened to (Y/N); which obviously I do." He runs a hand through his hair as he walks further into the kitchen, "He said I could tweet about it, Instagram it, or try and work it into an interview within the next few months-" He lets out an annoyed groan. "It needs to be discussed, and I hate that it has to because it never should have happened. But it did, so now we do because I don't want it to happen again."
"You can't just post on it; it'll look like you are trying to cover something up." Harrison mutters as he takes a bite of a cookie that I had baked earlier. "(Y/N), these are amazing-"
"Thanks, Hazza," I giggle, swinging my legs and lightly kicking the kitchen drawers.
"Yeah, no posts; maybe after discussing it we can because I want the world to know that you are mine, lovey." Tom gives me a soft smile, causing the boys to aww and gag. Tom strides in to swipe at the boys, who laugh. Once the laughter dissipates, he continues. "Waiting for an interview won't be an option. It needs to be addressed soon; I don't want you to feel like you aren't safe to go out of the house because of what happened."
"What if you did a live?" Sam put into the air, "Then it's something that is out now and you can tack it to your page for those who miss it-"
"People will screen record parts too and put it places: YouTube, Tumblr, Pinterest, wherever." I add, looking over at Sam who nods back.
"And as people have questions, you can add to that story so that they can get some of their questions answered." Sam continues, looking back at Tom.
Tom takes in a breath, I can tell that he really doesn't want to address it this way, but we didn't know what else we could do. I stand slowly and walk over to him and wrap my arms around his torso and hug him. "We can even write down some questions that we know we can answer, and discuss that we also won't be telling them everything. And the best part," I look up at him with a goofy grin, "We can finally post our wedding photos. I know RDJ would love to see the comparison picture between him and Sue kissing versus us."
Tom chuckles, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. He leans his forehead against mine before letting out a soft breath. "Who has a pen and paper?"
Tom and I are settled on the couch, rechecking through our list of questions that we know might be asked and make notes at what else might be good to talk about.
"I can't think of anything else that needs to be discussed." I whisper as I tap the pen on the paper.
"Neither can I." He sighs, laying his head against my shoulder, pressing a kiss there. "Are you ready to do this?"
I nod, kissing the top of his head. "You want me to be in here when you start?"
He shakes his head, "No, I feel like I should talk about it first without you in here."
"Do you want me to be in the chat until you are close to when I should join you?"
"Only if you want to, I can call for you when I think I have talked about it enough if you don't want to."
"I'll stay on chat; if any questions come up I can jot them down." I lift my head away so he can lift his head. He looks at me gently before leaning forward and kissing my lips, deepening it gently while his hand comes to cup my cheek. When I pull away, he lets out a small whine. I run my hand through his hair, messing it up slightly before fixing it. "I'll see you in a few, handsome." I stand slowly, stretching before grabbing the notebook and walking out of the living room.
"I loooooooove you!" He calls, making me giggle and call back and echo of his words which causes him to laugh as well.
Once I am settled in our room, I flop on the bed and wait for the notification to come through. When it does, my heart picks up a bit as I join the chat. Everyone that has joined are sending hearts and saying hello.
Tom gives the people watching a soft smile before speaking, "Hey everyone, how is everyone doing?" Most of the chat really doesn't answer, there are a few that do, but most don't. "I'm back home; the new movie I'm filming is in London to finish up some scenes. But that's not why I am doing a live." I hear him take in a breath before looking back at the screen. "What I want to talk about happened a few days ago. I was still gone, and someone who is very close to me, who is very special to me, had a run in with some of you guys. I don't know if any of those people are watching, but what happened that day cannot happen again."
Questions begin to pop up in the chat.
What happened?
Are you going to talk about that girl?
There weren't full details on what happened.
She was walked out by Haz, I saw.
Tom sighs, looking down for a minute while he is collecting his thoughts before continuing. "On Friday, I found out that my wife was mobbed at our local mall. It was bad, so much so that she had a panic attack. I flew home a few days early to make sure she was okay."
Wife?
Did you just say wife??
But you aren't M A R R I E D??? Show me a ring!
"You heard me correctly, the girl that has been in recent photos that have been popping up is not my girlfriend, she is my wife. What happened is not something I ever wanted her to experience; no one ever wants to feel that way. So that is why I am coming out about this, because I want her to feel safe to be able to roam around and do things that she would normally do without fear of that happening again." He runs a hand through his hair, the annoyance and disappointment evident on his face. "This whole thing is very new to her as well, and we had planned to make it known when we both thought it was a good time. At this point," he shrugs, "Nothing seems better than the present."
Is she okay?
THE FUCK?!
Is she the girls from the photos? She's pretty
I smile turning off my screen, slowly crawling off the bed and making my way down the hall to the living room.
"She is the girl from the photos, her name is (Y/N), and we actually wanted to give you as much information as we are willing to give about our current relationship, as well as talk about her social media platforms-"
"Those will remain private." I say as I pop into frame, causing Tom to jump. I let out a laugh as he whips his head to the side.
"You scared me-"
"I wasn't trying to!" I giggle, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing his nose before letting go and walking around the couch to sit down. "Uh, hello." I wave a little at the camera, "I'm (Y/N)."
"The love of my life-"
"You are a sap."
"Your sap," Tom lifts swaps his phone into his right hand so he can lift his left into frame to show off his ring, "forever-"
"Maybe we shouldn't have binged Big Bang Theory yesterday." I giggle, swatting at his hand before relaxing back into the couch.
"No, it was a good thing to binge." Tom chuckles, shifting his phone again before clearing his throat. "We came up with a list of some of the questions we thought you all might ask, so we will go through those before we take any questions on here."
"And Tom will tag this into a saved story so anyone who wants to go back through our answers can, as well as we will add answers as life goes on too. But we won't tell you everything, because we also want our life to be private."
"Well, it'll be on my account, but she will tag the story. You all know that I am basically ancient when it comes Instagram." He and I giggle before I wiggle the paper in my lap.
"Let's get started."
Tom and I talk about Heart Haven, about how we had been together for almost two years now (only recently married), and some of the smaller details that we were willing to share. The chat was mostly positive as we discussed everything. However, there were a few who did make some comments, but they got buried in the amount of positive comments. Most saying that they were glad that Tom and I were happy, that they were excited to see where our lives would take us, and eventually asked if there were any plans of little Tom's and (Y/N)'s running around anytime soon.
"I don't think there will be any anytime soon, some day, but not soon." I muse leaning my head on his shoulder. "I personally love kids, so it will happen eventually. But we have plenty of time to talk about that in the future."
"I will say one thing, they will be cute babies," Tom chuckles, bumping my head with his chin. "I mean, look at her-"
"Look at me, look at yourself." I roll my eyes, letting out a squeal when his fingers brush against my neck to tickle me. "Meanie."
"I'm not a meanie! It's not my fault you're ticklish." He chuckles as I stick my tongue out. "Well, guys we have been chatting with you for what, an hour and a half?" He checks the time stamp and nods, "Yeah, we have been on here for a long time. We are going to sign off. If you all have any more questions, I will post a little chat and (Y/N) and I will look at answering more questions within the next few weeks. Thanks for everyone who tuned in, and we will talk to you soon." Tom throws up a peace sign as I wave. Once his phone was off, Tom collapses in my lap, causing me to laugh. He groans loudly as I run my fingers through his hair and tug on the strands slightly while also massaging his scalp.
"I think it went okay."
"I do too; I just hope that nothing else bad happens to you."
"We won't know until it happens." I watch as Tom's eyes dart underneath his closed eyelids. I push his hair out of his face more before sliding my hand down his neck and press it over his heart. "How about I cook lunch then the two of us go to the pub tonight with your family, or friends. That good?"
His eyes flutter open as he smiles at me, "That sounds like a nice night. You took Monday off right?" I hum as I nod, "Good, cause we need a day out and I don't start filming until Wednesday."
"Whatever you are thinking, Holland, I am in."
~
The next few weeks fell into a quiet bliss. Work continued as normal, Tom was out filming, and nights closed with us crawling into bed and falling asleep curled up together only to wake up separated.
But today was different.
"Tom?" I call from the guest bedroom, standing with my arms on my hips as I stare up into the closet.
"Yeah?"
"Have you seen the box that has my textbooks in it? I need it to look up some treatments." I wait a few moments to see if he responds.
"Uh, I thought it was in our closet."
"Is it?" I call as I walk down the hall back to our room.
"Yeah, it should be on the right side, next to some of my dress shoes." He calls down the hall, "Love?"
I pause in the hall, turning and looking at him standing at the opposite end. "Yeah?"
"I am going to be on a conference call for about an hour, then I'm all yours for the rest of the day." He smiles at me, leaning into the wall.
I smile widely back before clapping like a little kid. "Yay!"
He chuckles, shaking his head. When his phone rings, he pushes himself back off the wall before disappearing into the kitchen.
I turn and make my way back to the bed room, shutting the door behind me as to not bother him while he is on the phone. I walk into the small walk in closet, scanning the top shelf to see if I can find the box. "Ah-hah," I muttered as I walk over to Tom's side where his dress clothes are hanging up. I smile as I stand on my tip-toes to grab the bottom of it and pull the box forward. When the box tilts forward, another box slides off the top plummeting toward me. A small shriek leaves my lungs as I let go of the box I was retrieving and basically jumping into Tom's dress clothes as the two tumble to the floor with a loud thud. I curse under my breath before running to the bedroom door, seeing Tom moving into the hallway with a worried expression, his phone pressed firmly to his ear. "I'm okay, just dropped the box." I giggle, giving him a small thumbs up.
Tom chuckles, sighing gently. "What? No, my wife dropped something in our room and I thought she hurt herself, she's fine. What were you saying?"
I turn back into the room and into the closet. I place my hands on my hips, looking at the books and lose paper scattered across the floor, "(Y/N), you are still a mess." I crouch down and begin repacking my textbooks back into the box to be moved into the office across the hall. As I reach for one book, I notice the other box that had fallen.
It had been months since I had seen in, it's slightly open from falling off the highest shelf. I reach forward and pull the box toward me, placing it in my lap. I pull the lid off, noticing the bodysuit was disheveled, whether it being from falling or from when it had been shipped back to the apartment alongside my wedding dress and Tom's tux.
I pull the piece out, holding it in the light. I wonder how this would look on? I turn and look at the door, "He will be on that conference call for a while, I got time." I look back at the piece again, biting my lip. I let out a small laugh and stand, pulling my shirt over my head and shimmying out of my navy sweatpants. Once completely undressed, I pick the piece off of the floor, slowly pulling the piece up my bare legs and shimmying the straps over my arms. I glance at the box and notice a peach ribbon folded at the bottom. I take it and tie it around my middle, directly over the sheer fabric. I turn and look at myself in the mirror, a small gasp leaving my parted lips. "Damn, Hazel. How did you know this would look this good?" The piece hugged all my curves, making my waist look smaller, and breasts look fuller. I turn a little to look at all my assets, giggling to myself as I tug my hair out of its clip and fluff it around. I blush at my reflection, running my fingers over the lace that is over the bust while my eyes look at where it shifts into sheer fabric over the skin of my stomach only to go back to lace for the thong. I turn and look at my backside, looking at how it makes my butt look a little more plump, lace, sheer, lace fabric pattern repeating until it reaches the top where the criss-cross, spaghetti straps begin. I feel nothing short of gorgeous and dare I say it, sexy.
I walk over to my sweatpants and dig out my phone from the pocket, and turning on the camera, posing in front of the mirror to look back at later. While posing I turn so that my back is facing the mirror with my face peeking over my shoulder to take the photo. Only then do I make eye contact with Tom, who he is perched leaning against the door frame with his arms folded over his chest, a smirk painted on his lips. I squeak as I spin around and look at him, my cheeks burning hot, so much so I can feel the heat coming out of my ears. "Tom! What- I thought you had your conference call."
Tom chuckles, his own cheeks tinted a soft shade of pink. "Uh, I was, but it ended early, so I came to see what you were doing?" He pushes himself of the door frame and slowly strides toward me, smirk still plastered to his lips. "What I didn't expect you to be doing was to be dressed up and posing in this." His hand falls on my waist, tugging me toward him, my hands flying to his chest. "You look gorgeous, darling." Tom leans down and presses a soft kiss to the base of my neck, causing my eyes to flutter shut at the feeling. I shift so my neck is more exposed, causing him to press softer kisses up the column of my throat.
I swallow, taking a minute to let my clouded mind form coherent words. "I, uh, found it when I was trying to get my textbooks down. Decided I was curious how it would look on, and, uh," my breath hitches as his teeth brush against the skin below my ear, my nails clawing into his shirt as he tugs at it gently, leaving a mark that I would have to cover up later. "I didn't think it would look that good on."
"Well, darling, you definitely pull it off." He mutters against my ear before turning his head so his lips can meet my own. The kiss is slow, and passionate, like we have all the time in the world. When he pulls away, he goes back to kissing my neck, sucking more marks into my skin that scream that I am his.
"God, I can't think when you do that." I sigh as I feel his hands travel south to cup my cheeks.
"Well, maybe that's the plan." He chuckles into my skin; I place a hand under his chin, lifting his head from its place against my neck and press my lips against his in a rush, deepening it quickly. Tom groans into my mouth as he leans into me, grasping at the back of my thighs as he lifts me, my legs wrapping around his waist. Tom carries me out of the closet, only pulling away when we fall back onto the bed causing a small shriek to fall past my lips. The two of us laughing a bit, his forehead pressing into mine. "God, I love you."
"I love you too. I'm so glad I met you, so glad I get the chance to be able to spend the rest of my life with you." I whisper, pressing another kiss to his lips.
"I think I got a little ahead of myself here," Tom chuckles, shifting so that he has his knees on either side of my hips instead of his previous position. "I don't want to force you to do anything you aren't comfortable with-"
"Tom," I whisper, causing him to shiver as I place my hand on his cheek, "I wouldn't want anything else. Just, go slow, I'm more than a little inexperienced." I giggle, watching as Tom's soft expression darkens, his tongue darting out to wet his lips.
"Love, all I want you to do is lay back, relax, and enjoy." He mutters against my lips before pressing into me, my hands flying into his hair to pull him impossibly closer.
Why did I start this?
Tumblr media
Hi! It is I, Miss E and I’m here to start my tumblr life. I’ve always been interested in writing novels, short stories and poems. It has been a hobby of mine to write what happened about my day on my diary. I think I have 5 or more notebooks that witnessed my everyday kagagahan and kaartahen.
Yep, I’m a Filipina and today it feels like a burden because of the government but enough of that. Maybe, I can talk about it later? So, let’s go back. Why did I make an account here? I’ve always write notes in my phone whenever I’m tired of writing on my diary but the difference now is, I cannot tweet or post it on facebook. I’m shy. 😗 Also, I feel restricted, I cannot freely share my personal thoughts. Here on tumblr, I want to exercise my writing skills, improve my grammar and write my story and thoughts without feeling shy and restricted and make it into art. That is why you’re reading this. I will honestly post my stories here and I hope I can look back and smile to myself with saying, “Those are good days...”
Tumblr media
What happened yesterday?
Thursday, 27 May 2020
I was feeling emotional for the past few days, I slept A LOT, being LAZY and felt EMPTY.
In this chapter of my life, the pressure was on. I’m 18 years old and incoming freshman college. Before the COVID-19, everything is already a mess in my mind because I still don’t have a school to be enrolled for the college, SIS I’M PANIC--- HAHAHA The school year is almost over! So far, the two results from the universities I’ve applied; I didn’t passed the entrance exams. I can go to the other one but I don’t want the course they are offering to me. The other one, i didn’t passed it. I was so ashamed to share it my friends that I’ve lied about it.  Last week, the results from my dream school came out and guess what, I didn’t passed also. I am convincing myself that it is because I’m not from the city it belongs. Almost all of the passed students were from this specific city which the school prioritize. It is a state university so...that’s their rule, I guess. Well, that’s the reason I’m convincing myself into... Now, a private school had already accepted my application before the results of my dream school came out, I said I would wait for my dream school before deciding something. I am sad because of my dream school, really sad. Sayang yung free tuition! But I was really sad because I know very well that I didn’t did well in every examination I had and I don’t really deserve to be in those schools... I am doubting my capacity, di naman ako matalino katulad nang akala nila...  That is why I cried, I cried when I delivered the news to my parents and ate (big sister) because I felt that I disappointed them from not passing the schools! I only passed at that private school because it didn’t have an entrance exam! How can they say that entrance exam aren’t the batayan if you’re matalino or not? How? When I am hear feeling so low because I did not meet the expectations I and other people have to myself...
Now, the decision have to be made, the only choice I have is to be on that private school, I’m actually waiting for results of another state university but there is a deadline for this private school, we need to make reservations.The choices now are: online class or be delayed? Online Class Pros
Comfortable Safe from infection Cons Not suitable for me Internet connection sayang tuition
Be delayed Pros
Will surely learn when the face- to- face classes will come back di masasayang tuition
Cons
tambay Will be late from the timeline of being a doctor
hmm?
To future Miss E,
(This will be a part of my everyday chronicles because I want to share the things I’ve learned and remind my future self everything. It is always good to learn and realize new things.)
Tumblr media
Just like what my dad and ate said when I cried to them, “If it’s not for you, it will not be given to you.” Yes. it’s hard to accept that things aren’t for you but God always do have a plan for you. We have our own paths and that will be worth it and fits exactly for you.
We can’t always push what we want, we can ask God but we cannot doubt Him, okay?  Don’t be afraid. Strengthen your faith. It was (not) given to you because it is (not) for you.  You may ask that why is it not for me?  It is not for you because you do have better choices and purposes. It was not given to you as some other people needs it more than you do and they deserved it. You deserve something different from them. Whatever it is, God will give you what you deserve as He planned your life.
Additional lesson, your past doesn’t define you. Your failures doesn’t define you! You can ALWAYS strive to be better! Learn from the past but do not live in it.  Now, that you’ve seen you strength and weaknesses, live with you weakness by improving it, maybe not the best but better. Okay?
Stay strong, powerful bitch! Change the world, put happiness on it! XOXO, Miss E 🌱
Response to (idiotic) accusations made by some people against me and especially Aoimotion
(which is why I have to waste time writing this stuff)
Hi guys,
Here I am again, with a "small" update of the journal published a few days ago here on my blog  in response to an offensive, derogatory and defamatory post that unfortunately has been circulating for a month without the direct interested, I and above Aoimotion , being aware about it, as we weren’t intentionally mentioned, so we were denied the right to reply.
Of course I took care to reply immediately after discovering it, telling our version of the facts. But the post was soon removed, so all I could read were four short comments left by the owner of the blog on which the announcement was written, @spanish-vega
Needless to say, the cancellation didn’t bring benefits to its victims, since eliminating a post to the source on Tumblr has only the (partial) effect of hiding the identity of its author. Therefore, if you are interested in knowing what I am talking about, a copy of the accusations I’m going to reply to can still be found here.
This only shows how its content was a distorted interpretation of real facts that, once brought to light, irreparably refuted the veracity of the post in question, forcing the author, or more likely: the authors, to eliminate it before taking their own responsibility and have a real confrontation with me. Unfortunately, this action was too serious for me to ignore it. In this regard, I will now proceed to respond to the feedback I received from Miss Vega. There really would not be much to say, given that the comments (written, among other things, under HER OWN post), can hardly be considered an answer, so I will take this opportunity to focus on many issues that are close to my heart.
I want to warn you that in the following part the subjects will change often, sometimes I will refer to those directly involved or only one of them, sometimes to a wider audience, so sorry for this confusion, unfortunately the topics to be addressed are many.
Dear Vega, here we are again. I don’t know whether to feel more sad or worried by the fact that after all the time that has passed and even now that I have placed you before the fact, you say you have not regretted having  basically tried to ruin a person's reputation. In part I envy you, I would also like to face certain things with such coldness. On my way I have met many boring and dishonest people, yet I have never dreamed of defaming them publicly, notwithstanding all the evil they had done and the reason I could have. Same for Aoi, of course, who between the two was the most oppressed in recent years. But in your case perhaps, this is the only way to really solve the matter, since the private ways don’t work, or rather, only serve to make fun of me, taking advantage of my honesty and fairness. It’s too convenient to pillory someone publicly and then demand to settle things in private; you all have always speculated on the fact that both Aoi and I are much more mature and discrete than you, so we would never have put ourselves at your own level (or your own pettiness, depending on your point of view). In fact, it was supposed to be like this, but unfortunately my tolerance has reached the limit, you managed to make me infuriate as few have succeeded in my life, so now I will repay you with your own medicine, the only one you know and that maybe have some effect on you.
You affirm that your wish was to make the truth known to the Spaniards, but I think it was more correct to say: "the Spaniards had to know my version of the facts", given that this was the case. Because the intention of the post you wrote wasn’t to inform people, but simply to seek consensus and compassion from them. If you had even had the slightest respect for those who would have read, you should have also involved the parts you accused so that the readers were provided with more complete information and not just your distorted and incomplete version. But I can imagine that, from the perspective of a liar, the idea of acting in conditions of complete incontestability is very appetizing, so I cannot say I'm surprised. Embittered, but not surprised.
You also continue to reiterate: "you know what Aoi did to @landsec (sorry, the tag doesn’t work because this person has blocked me, I will return to this point later)". Obviously I know, as a huge amount of people know, thanks to the political propaganda that your friend has not failed to do. Aoimotion had a heated discussion with him, as a result of which she apologized in spite of, let me to reiterate it once again, the first to be wrong was Landsec, for the reasons I explained in the previous post and that you will surely remember (assuming that you have read them). Too bad that, in addition to this episode of which Aoi has largely repented, for her part there has been no other action directed against Landsec.  An intervention, perhaps more "important", happened later on my part. On this intervention, many words were spent in private, with the usual sharing of screenshots, but none in public. Perhaps, if the real problem were the things I myself told Landsec, it would have been more correct to address ME directly to make his grievances, rather than going through a person whose role in this feud is mostly incidental, and certainly not because Aoi or I asked for it. Anyway, some time later the famous translation policy post appeared on our channels. And here Aoi actually made a mistake, the only mistake that could be attributed to her: on DA, she signed the post with her name. She did it out of habit, because it was a few months since the account had passed from being “RemArt” to be “AoiRemArt”, so she tried to point out that it was now managed by two people, not just one. In addition, I let her write the posts because unfortunately it’s known that English isn’t my strong suit, so I agree it’s easy to associate her writing with her name. But it takes a lot of imagination to imagine that such a crucial and important post was written only by one of the two, from a common account, as if I had been watching while she was preparing the crime or, even worse, she had bound me and gagged me to deprive me of any freedom of speech, so she could freely do what she wanted. A fantasy that I prefer to call "convenience". The concepts of the post and the way in which they are exposed have been agreed both by Aoi and by me, as it has always been and as it still is, therefore, whatever offense you may have received in your opinion, be aware that it came fully in the name of both. The only thing I'm so sorry about is that I didn’t stop her right away when I saw that she had signed only on her behalf, because I gave people I thought smarter another opportunity to pour their hatred and frustration on her.
Anyway, I'm sorry to disappoint you, dear Vega, and all the rest of the people who share your thoughts, but even then you totally misrepresented what we were saying. We can only validate the Italian and English versions because they are the only ones edited by the original author of the texts: Aoimotion, who writes them personally and has full control. Since we don’t know other languages outside of these two, we have no tools or knowledge to verify the content of the text with confidence and to consider it 100% faithful to the original, correct or reliable. It’s pure and simple logic, concepts that should also be within your reach.
I’m sorry that my authorization has implied the opposite and has made you consider these texts as official, perhaps better than the original ones. It's probably another thing that I should have explained from the beginning. We don’t want to diminish the work behind it, but yours is still a fan-translation, certainly not considered as an official language released by us. If we did it we would take responsibility for making official a thing we don’t know, it would not be serious on our part.
About this, I take this opportunity to apologize to the translators for not having explained well right away that the first translations were authorized only by me and only by inexperience, due to the fact that I myself felt like I was using borrowed characters and I sincerely regret that all this happened, because if I had been more careful and far-sighted from the beginning, now there would be no translation in the first place and now we would have no problem.
Secondly, after all the conflicts that have existed, and still exist between us, not only I consider your vain attempts to flatter me ("incredible artist", "fantastic person" and so on) extremely hypocritical, but the thing that makes me laugh is how in public you proudly declare that you have no problem with me (feelings that, even if they were true, would not be returned from me anyway), when in private things go in a very different way.
I'm really sorry, Vega, that you spent your time writing a post in defense of Landsec, that you, blinded probably by some feeling that I don’t feel entitled to determine, called "one of the kindest members of this fandom". The same kind member who didn’t stop you when he had to and could do it, but made you cancel the post only when I intervened, exactly after a month. The same kind member who has denied any involvement in your actions, either in public or in private with me (I will spare you the agony of reading his own words because, unlike Landsec and probably many of his friends, we don’t have the same habit of divulging private conversations, even when we could take advantage from them, as in this case), running for cover,  reblogging my post as if he wants to declare himself on my side, pleading - we don’t know who - to leave him alone, and discharging all responsibility on you and yours impulsivity, and then, on top of the cake, canceling his reblog just five minutes after doing it. The same kind member that blocked me just two days after the answer to my post in which he recited: "I don’t have any problems with Rem" and "We. Are. Cool. ". I suppose he must have been very afraid of being ignored for the first time by me, after I’ve always endeavored to behave with maturity towards him in an attempt to smooth out the shameful situations created by himself. In light of the fact that I find myself writing this unhappy communication, when I could use my time in more pleasant and productive ways, I gather that I was the only one of us who ever intended to definitively close this story.
Fortunately, before Landsec took his "precautionary measures", I had time to realize that the post in which he announced his retirement (the real one, not the defamatory garbage written a month ago) had been promptly canceled by his main channels. Evidently, when a better scapegoat was presented to him, which would have made his gesture a heroic martyr, he thought well to change the version of events. I could make a lot of comments about it, but I think that's already self-commenting. In any case, a "proof" that this post existed can be found at this link  dating back to May 9th, in which it's clearly mentioned the retreat, already happened, of our kind member.
Now you will ask, why insist on this point? In reality it's very simple: the author of the defamatory post, quoted and linked at the top, has accused us, -no, maybe it's better to be precise: only Aoimotion- of Landsec's withdrawal, inserting this accusation even as subtitle of her the post ("Motivo del retiro de Landsec") . But if this post that I found refers to the Landsec's withdrawal on the 9th of May, I can assume that his abandonment was announced at least a few days before the 9th of May. And if the very first private discussion between Landsec and us took place about fifteen days later (in May 23-24th); And if the post about translation policy we made that, according to the opinion of the author of the post, would have completely destroyed the good intentions to continue in the translations of her friend, was published on June 25th, I wonder: it’s possible that these people have the gift of clairvoyance? Or can I just assume that unfounded and ridiculous accusations have been made with the intention of demonizing a person and, at the same time, gathering support and compassion?
Returning to us, always wanting to quote his "hit and run" reblog, in fact it was the same Landsec who writes: "So if you have any involvement with it [your post, Vega], solve it yourself and LEAVE ME ALONE ". So, from woman to woman, I hope that you, Vega, have long thought and drawn your conclusions after this shabby show. After all, he practically left you alone in my clutches, after you had exposed yourself so much to defend him. He didn't even try a second to protect you like you did with him. A kind person like him, does he really deserve your loyalty?
The connections between people are simple as long as they are coalescing in the face of the possibility of slandering, mortifying and tarnishing someone. In that case, people are ready to swear loyalty, support and mutual affection from here until the end of time. As soon as the nuance of reason and congruence is destroyed by the reality of facts, this is how these bonds crumble and change into the vile, filthy and disgusting vault I have ever seen.
That would be great, since everyone is free to build their personal bonds in the way that best suits him/her ... if not that, these same people ready to tear each other if the situation worsens, even find the courage to distort the partnership between me and Aoi, painting it like a toxic relationship in which she manipulates me according to her will, and I'm reduced to a doll that is limited to executing orders or, in the best case, watching while she sows discord and destruction in the name of both.
At this point, you understand that I cannot ignore such a foul-smelling accusation, so let me tell you how things are: none, and again, none of the things I've said or done in the past two years have been influenced by Aoi. Because, you know, I'm also capable of independent judgment (ability that instead of many of you are missing, I noticed) and not only, I'm even able to get angry! I understand that it sounds absurd, so take a minute of meditation to assimilate this information, and then take a few hours, or days, or even weeks, to realize how all the things that you didn't like and that you think damaged you, that you considered more convenient to attribute to my partner, in reality they were the combined and harmonious effect of two minds that have always worked in perfect harmony, without never prevaricate each other. And perhaps, for many of you, the problem has been (and still is) just that. You can hardly forgive me for I have found a partner "out of the group" (who anyway I knew and with whom I had a firm friendship since well before knowing you, in case you didn't know or you were conveniently forgotten) with whom I chose to work closely, a person whom I admire and whom I appreciate, an I'm very fond of, who made me embark on a project for which I decided it was worth it, which goes beyond fame and glory and any other value to which you attach importance. Perhaps many of you have been wondering for months: "Why Aoi? Why not us?", and so, you decided to vent this suppressed frustration on her,  when perhaps, and I say perhaps, the person you really wanted to vent your livership was and is me.
I will not deny that, for the short time I attended your group, I appreciated your company. As I told to Landsec in the last message I sent him months ago, there were people among you whom I esteemed and respected and which were pleasing to me, but I always treated our relationship lightly;  I never thought there was anything between us that could go beyond kindness and mutual courtesy. We were acquaintances, and nothing more than that, and I'm really sorry if my attitudes (which no doubt were wrong) may have given some of you reason to think otherwise, or in any case to "elevate" our relationship to something more. But this has never authorized you to treat Aoi in the way you did, to denigrate her, to deride her and to accuse her of having performed actions on behalf of both, overshadowing my will and my ideas completely, as if there was no way that I could be something else than what you thought I was. Your myth of Rem always kind, always available and always friendly is an image that you have created of me, which absolutely doesn't belong to me, which I consider incredibly reductive and silly to apply on a person since, sorry if I always repeat the obvious, the reactions are adapted to the situations and you have given me many reasons to be anything but courteous and kind to you. All of this is a mirror of what your real opinion is of us, of the presumption that you have to know two people whom you have always chosen to see only the part that made you more comfortable, and probably even what is the limit of your reasoning ability.
And now I refer directly to the “translators”, I regret to find out that for a long time you have translated comics written by a person you don't esteem at all, as opposed to what you claim to think of me. I sincerely ask myself why you decided to put your blog and your "face" in a story and in dialogues that you thought so bad of, since apparently the only thing that you appreciated the comic were the drawings. Maybe you could create your own comic and think about the interactions between the characters, the story and the dialogues, and translate them into English as it is a far less demanding work than translating into your language.
From this point of view, I understand why you always want to boast about how much effort you make in translations, literally using every possible excuse to reiterate how hard and draining your work is. But then I wonder: if for you to translate from English TO YOUR MOTHER LANGUAGE is so hard, so demanding, then what Aoi should say, as she translates every day from our mother tongue (which I remind you, it's Italian. Maybe it was clear with me but not with her) to English and vice versa, if her work requires to? I’m sure that you too know that translating from English to your own language is not as difficult as doing the opposite, given that you proclaim yourselves to be certified and expert translators and you, Vega, also defined yourself as a writer, as if this title could authorize you to say all the balderdash that left your keyboard. Aoi has been doing this every day for more than two years, but I don't remember ever having seen her making noise for what she has chosen to do, not even when many people ignored (deliberately or not) her role as author in the comics and she would have all the right to point out that she was the mind behind those stories that everyone liked so much. For this, I cannot help but applaud the despicable courage with which you have diminished Aoi's work, who is a translator like you and even more than you, besides being so many other things that you aren't, and laugh at how you have mortified her while you were doing your master work by basing yourself on a translation that came well before you. Therefore, maintaining the scale of judgment with which you have always judged her contribution to comics: if you want to rate Aoi's work as zero, go ahead. But at this point, following your reasoning, I ask you: how should your work be defined? With a negative number? Or even better, with an imaginary number?
In conclusion, I regret that many people believed in Vega's version, full of holes and inconsistencies, without even ascertaining the veracity of what they were being offered. To believe in facts without evidence to support them is a very serious act, which sets out a very dangerous trend to this day. Dangerous for these people, and also for who / what is found in the crosshairs of such lies.
And speaking of these people, I would like to use this post to respond to some brilliant comments that I found myself reading under Vega's propaganda, released by people who arrived like flies that, attracted by the trash, got themselves gathered around it to feast festively, though mostly, I will do nothing but reiterate old concepts. I will not mention names, because there is no need; in any case, those who are curious can go to read through the comments of the post of which I attached the link above, although I don't recommend doing it to those who are particularly weak stomach.
When you accuse Aoimotion of having had, and still have, a very strong influence on me, there is one thing you're right about: if it was not for her, I would have stopped having any contact with the Zootopia fandom already two years ago. Probably my interest would be exhausted within a couple of comics, or even stripes, given the general attention that I can have in fandom, especially if it's fandom related to films and therefore self-contained stories. But then I met her, who overwhelmed me with her imagination, her enthusiasm and above all her pure and unconditional love for the narration, which pushed me to continue. To make a lot more comics than I had expected, to draw a lot more pictures of Nick and Judy than I would have done alone. 90% of what I have produced, and for which you have idolized me (and given the situation in which I'm now, I wonder how sincere these flattery were), exists because she was with me, by my side, close to every process of creation and always ready to advise me, encourage me and help me. So, when you accuse Aoimotion of having forced me to leave the fandom, you should instead thank her, for holding me into it a lot, so much more than I could have predicted.
When you accuse my style of drawing to be "Zootopian", know that first of all this is just a neologism devoid of any meaning, given that Zootopia itself is a Disney-style film and that then brings the style of his factory. And that just because dozens of artists have thrown into the cauldron called "Zootopia" any anthropomorphic animal their pen has created, doesn't mean that the same applies to me. In any case, know that my style is evolving and will evolve again and again, until finally this latest silly accusation will fall into the pit of the "absurd accusations" that are offered to us every day by this fandom.
When you accuse us of wanting to "steal Jack Savage from Disney", when you even use your time to create meme and "fun" comic of dubious taste, of which only the authors, the stupids and their little friends can laugh, hold on to mind that Jack Savage has always been, and always will be, nothing but a sketch on an artbook with a few lines of background, and that all we have built on him is OURS, including much of his physical appearance (which, like everything that is in this fandom, has soon become a collective good, like it happens in the best communist societies). And that we have the right and the duty to take it back, while you have neither of those to come and tell us something. If, as you think according to the legal knowledge of which you are definitely in possession, what we have in mind to do (which, incidentally, has not yet been disclosed to anyone, then as well as experienced lawyers, you're also skilled Espers able to read our minds; if I had your powers, now I would fight in the biggest tribunals of the world, not brawling from behind a keyboard) is wrong, we will pay the consequences; but if what we are doing is simply a nuisance to you, and it stings you as if you were thrown into a bush of nettles, I'm sorry to say that it is not our problem. Maybe you need to take a break from the internet, as I suggested to Vega and Landsec, to review your priorities and give a little more value of your time. Or you could "give yourself to horse racing", as we say in our parts.
Among other things, while we can afford to take away from Jack any connotation in common with his concept and have our fanbase almost unchanged, if anyone else tried to do the same would find himself in a second to swim in anonymity. I invite you to ask yourself why, and if you can, even to give you an answer. It would be sufficient to explain a few of our apparently incomprehensible reasons, and even the reasons for those whose main purpose in recent months seems to have been to discourage and mock us.
The Jack’s question is very well connected with another theme that we considered closed for months, but that obviously still doesn't really go down to some of you: the alleged plot against our readers, hatched by Aoi and me, which established to introduce our OCs in Black Jack, in order to impose them on you and force you to appreciate them and follow their vicissitudes.
We have always considered this accusation extremely funny (it’s a pity that the harassment we suffered because of it were not) and all in all, putting ourselves in the shoes of the average fan and reasoning (indeed, refusing to reason) as such, the thing could also make sense. So we let it go. This only until the moment we published Black Jack.
Once this comic ended (and even a few months before it ended), we reiterated several times that we would never treat Zootopia again. Of course, you understand that we couldn't write "WE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT NICK AND JUDY !!" at the end of each post or as a watermark on the pages of the new comic, otherwise some brilliant mind would have told us that we were paranoid and unpleasant. So, at a certain point, we stopped coming back to the subject.
At this point, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who has continued to follow us after Black Jack, has done so of his own free will. Perhaps it's hard to publicly admit that you find an interesting story that does not have Nick, Judy or the "Zootopia" tag inside; It’s easier not to express yourself, to avoid the risk that some friend, fervent supporter of the fandom (because now there are no longer supporters of the movie but of the fandom), can stone you on the spot. In this way, you have at any moment the possibility of turning silence-assent into fierce indignation, pulling out the fable that someone is manipulating you to force you to follow something you don’t like and don’t care about. I'm sorry if you felt obliged to follow us by some dark force that you could not fight back, it was absolutely not our intention. We have never been interested in gathering as much support as possible (if we wanted to do it, we would certainly emulate some eminent fandom figure who knows how to keep fans tight), what we always wanted is to express ourselves artistically in absolute freedom, and be judged without any "fandomistic" prejudice .
Therefore, I will reiterate it once again:
if you have no interest in our current work and/or continue to follow us hoping that one day we'll rekindle the desire to work again on Zootopia;
if you have decided to follow us because this gives you the illusion that we're still feeding the dunghill that this fandom has become;
if you’re bad and evil in the soul and find pleasure in spitting poison on a couple of artists who didn't do anything wrong (because now, honestly, what have we ever done to deserve certain crap? After all we have given you for a year or more, you should just learn to be quiet) ...
If you're one of these things, more than one or all put together, I warmly and DEFINITELY invite you to vanish and never return.
Regardless of everything, I'm here to reiterate that we will go on, while the best these people can get is to fossilize themselves where they are now. We are trying to do something big and original, bigger than a mere sub-project of another work, more original than creating new animals that stand on two legs and exist somewhere in the universe of Zootopia (without nothing to take away from those who do it, we simply have different ideas and different objectives). And you know, partly we have already succeeded, and I feel once again to thank Aoi about this, thanks to her characterization and her stories wich allows us to give our OCs peculiarity, to distinguish them from the crowd even if some people try always to imitate the character design of others artists. The more time passes, the more people from the fandom stop following us; but for each of them that leaves, two new readers follow us, people who often have nothing to do with Zootopia and its fandom. And if this is not a victory, I don’t know what it is.
Summing up, I would say that perhaps, rather than feeling angry at certain people, the most appropriate feeling here is compassion. But for respect of ourselves, it's right that even the most miserable and vile of individuals will learn what their place is; for how much compassion I can feel for them, I’ll never transact ever before a villainous gesture. Unfortunately, the more falsehoods are propitiated and stacked, the more the truth will be evident and lethal later. The more you are liars, the more you will be hurt when someone puts you in front of the reality of the facts, exposing your slanders for what they really are: snake venom. For this reason, from now on I strongly advise you to dose more carefully your nonsense, in order to avoid having to hide like rats the moment the truth will surface. This is the last thing I will tell you because, after this refreshing parenthesis, I hope I will never again have to deal with any of you, anywhere in the internet.
And if it were to happen, however, I beg you this time to call things by their real name; to strike directly and clearly who you REALLY want to hit, without first making a shield of people who have nothing to do with the problems you may have with someone. In any case, we will be ready to respond, using the most effective weapon in our possession, the truth; Therefore, I sincerely dissuade you from doing so.
hey the post was a half serious personal post not meant to be share with anyone but my followers (i didnt take enough precautions to make sure it doesnt spread) I call Rey a child because that's how I call my favourite characters in a joking tone not bc i actually think she is a child. (smh i was a 19yr woman only 2 yrs ago) Also, hanleia is not comparable to reylo, but if you ship reylo i don't think you want me to rub the reason in your face. i hope i make myself clear.
I don’t even remember what this is about but... okay. If I reblogged it was because it appeared on my dash, I don’t go on the sw tags, they’re too toxic and I can’t deal, so if I came across your post it was because you probably weren’t careful enough and someone I follow reblogged it. I don’t go looking for haters mate, but if haters find me... well that’s not my fault now is it?
Also, if it was intended to your followers only maybe you should’ve messaged each and everyone of them and not actually posted on tumblr? Just a suggestion. Ah, also, a little bit of advice? If you’re going to play the “age gap card”, and I assumed that’s what happened here, since you’re talking about “child” and “hanleia” maybe be prepared for this comparison to be made.
I wonder... did you do this to everyone who made an input on your post? If so... wow.
But anyways, you do you fam.
Have a good weekend, and don’t stress out too much!!!
I said I wasn’t going to write about this but after talking to my girlfriend I changed my mind
TW for mentions/acknowledgement of sexual abuse, including CSA and incest, as well as non-CSA/non-incestuous abuse/rape, gaslighting, property damage, stalking, and self-harm.
I want to talk about the Ailey O’Toole plagiarism thing but I am angry. I am worried that saying I am angry is derivative. I am worried that my trauma is derivative. I am worried that my trauma is original (too original, perhaps, one might say, unbelievable?) and people have and will plagiarize it for personal gain. I am worried about being accused of doing this, because I have cast around for ways of describing What Happened, ways of acknowledging, naming, coming to terms, trying to mend, and in my utter overwhelm about the abject terror of that, often looked to the writings of other survivors. I have talked to other survivors who told me that they did this with my own writing, for themselves. The networks of survivors that I know, sharing our language, offering up our sympathies for each other, relating, connecting, trying to heal, are beautiful, intricate, delicate things. When someone does something like this it smashes a wrecking ball through the house I am trying to build in my head for the knowledge of my own abuse.
She stole the words of other women - many of whom were women of colour - and presented them as her own. More than that, she stole the stories of their personal trauma. She took a description, written by Rachel McKibbens, of physical injuries relating to abuse, and presented it as pure metaphor, revealing through her own amateurish take on an expertly constructed work her lack of understanding. Her poems are worse than the poems of the people whose traumas she exploited. She’s a hack. I have tried to muster empathy for her and I have none. I only have the internal chaos of having been effectively gaslit for years.
Something that I think gets lost in the way that the term “gaslit” gets thrown around today is the long-term impact of gaslighting. I am not very good at describing it but I would say it is in part a constant self-doubt. Did this happen? Here is the proof I have collected. At night sometimes I do little drawings and leave them on my desk to prove that I was there, a real person. When someone lies to me, I become destabilized and angry, then direct that anger inward. I compartmentalize my memories into neat little boxes, separate and away from each other, and then when that no longer works I pick and pick and pick at them. I acknowledge the truth of my memory and then I unravel it, spool the thread, and light it on fire. If you go to therapy, he said, they’ll plant false memories. Therapists can do that. They’ll tell you you were abused to turn you against me. You know I would never hurt you, right? Don’t you love me?
A recollection of a specific assault can be hidden away, like the rug I bought that he ruined that he pretended wasn’t real. I bought it with my own money and he hid it and told me I never did, and I believed him until I found it when I was moving out and saw the big stain on it. I left the rug there. Did the rug exist? Now I believe - know - that it did, but when someone lies about shit like this, it worms its way under my skin and eats at me. There are people - former friends of someone I was formerly in love with; someone I was formerly in love with; someone I was never in love with but who took what he wanted anyway - who will still tell you the rug did not exist. Sometimes people who were not there tell me that the rug did not exist. I imagine there are people who will read this and say, see! She ADMITS she’s an unreliable narrator!! The rug is literal and also a metaphor.
What if someone does to me what Ailey O’Toole did to McKibbens and others  - reads this piece I am writing and cribs it, claiming it as their own? Or, more horrifically: what if I’m doing that to someone else and I don’t realize, because all of my memories are fake?
My rational mind knows that there is a difference between me reading something on someone’s blog and then later, privately, telling my therapist about it, saying I appreciated the language that person used, saying I found their writing a relatable account of something similar to something that I remember in my own past - that their writing made me feel understood, made me understand something about myself; that I cannot speak about my own memories as mine just yet, but I can acknowledge the recognition that I felt reading this other person’s work - and publishing in a book that I got paid for and did interviews about and won awards for a story which is wholly someone else’s, and claiming it as mine. My rational mind even knows that there is a difference between someone picking up a phrase I used to describe my abusive former family (“mutual bullshit society”) and applying it within their own traumablogging on their non-monetized tumblr blog where they are just trying to process their own shit, and the careful, deliberate crafting of an autobiographical poem written for publication and considered for prestigious awards.
Gaslighting, though, tells me there isn’t. Maybe, it tells me, you’re lying. Maybe you made it up, for sympathy, for attention, for prestige - to be seen as someone who has Survived, which is Admirable, because everyone loves a survivor as long as they aren’t a bummer! As long as they are inspiring. Isn’t that what you want? To be seen as strong? To not be afraid? Wouldn’t it be easier if none of this was real?
I wonder if Ailey O’Toole understands these feelings. I wonder if she understands what it’s like to have someone deliberately chip away at your ability to trust your thoughts, memories, feelings, instincts, and impressions until you genuinely think you don’t know what’s real anymore. I wonder if she understands what it’s like to wrestle that self-doubt to the ground, pin it down, and say, “THIS HAPPENED”, only to have it rear up and take a chunk out of your flesh in retaliation. I wonder if she understands what it’s like to do that and then see her, her smiling, perfectly made-up, straight-haired perfect white girl face with no damaged teeth, revealed as a fraud, and feel a fear worse than “what will happen if I stop acting like I made it up?” - what if I DID make it up after all?
I don’t know Ailey O’Toole’s life. I’m not saying she’s never been abused. And I do not subscribe to the school of thought that teaches that people (women) make up stories about sexual violence for twitter fame and book deals. I do think that in many (white) feminist circles online, there is a dangerous premium placed on vulnerability. That poses much more of a risk to people who are willing to be genuinely vulnerable than it does to people who crib other peoples’ writing about their abuse and pretend that that is vulnerability.
And I don’t know what to do with my anger about this. I don’t know how to navigate the tangled knots of denial it tightens within me to see a story about someone who exploited other peoples’ trauma in this way. It is damaging, and it sucks, and if I’m honest, I do not think O’Toole understands the harm she has caused - primarily to the people who she ripped off, the victims of her fraud, but also, in a secondary way, to the people who are struggling to tell their own truths whose perception of that activity is easily cracked by shit like this. It’s just hard. I wish people wouldn’t do it.
Can’t Sit Down and Write? Same Dude
Alright, buddy, I’m going to lay this out flat on you, whoever you are. I’m absolute garbage at writing. I don’t just mean skill, I mean all aspects- Commitment, focus, grammar (though I try my hardest,) and pretty much anything you can think of, I’m bad at. I probably have more unfinished writing ideas than I have days left on this Earth, and I can never dedicate myself to just one idea. Even short stories, besides ones I wrote back in middle school that I pretend don’t exist, remain unfinished and collecting virtual dust in my computer files while I do literally anything besides write.
The one strength I might possibly have, though? I soak up anything- And I mean anything- that I can about writing. Tips and tricks, websites, apps, styles- Everything I can get my hands on. So here’s my grand idea: I’m going to write this blog in an attempt to help other people like me, and maybe even people that don’t have the same issues I have.
The way I see it is writing is a complex art- And just like in any other type of art, you want the best tools you can possibly obtain. Like paintbrushes for watercolor, or graphite pencils for visual art. Those tools help you do better in whichever focus you have, so shouldn’t writing tools do the same?
You can argue that writing comes from within, from years of teaching, and I get that and agree with it- but there’s nothing wrong with a little extra help.
So, here are some of my (im)perfect tips for perfect writing.
 -         Sit your ass down. I’m sure a lot of you have heard this one but I can’t stress it enough. It is an extremely important aspect of writing that can start as a building block for success. When you make yourself sit down at your desk and put pen to paper (or fingers to keys,) it helps you commit yourself to the project even more.
-         Set word goals. There’s a lot of neat sites and programs that can help you keep track of your word and character counts, and these sites usually come with extra functions as well, so it never hurts to “shop” around. The point of this, though, is to have realistic goals. Of course, the end goal is to finish your paper, end the novel, or complete your short story, but you need smaller goals in between, especially if your project is a rather large one. Think like a chapter or two a day, or 1,000-1,600 words a day. These are just random values I shoot for, but yours don’t have to be as extensive- Just set the goal. When you get to a certain word goal, there’s a sense of accomplishment that can follow, and even sometimes you’ll have the urge to keep on trudging through it. Writing is also a pain sometimes, which is why word goals are so important- Set small ones if you get easily restless, or you don’t have a lot of free time to set aside. The important thing is having a goal you can reach, or at least get close to.
-         Write first, Edit later. Now this may sound easier than it is, and for some people (me in particular,) I have an insanely difficult time not editing on the way. And sometimes that’s okay. I usually find myself just fixing a word or grammar error, like a missing period or misspelled word. What I mean about not editing is when you stop your writing and go back to review what you’ve done. This is okay if you’ve found a good stopping point or reached a goal, but to backtrack in the middle of a writing process can hurt your workflow and get your mind off the current task. As painful as it might sound, sometimes you have to grit your teeth and push through that nagging urge to double-check what you’ve done.
-         Take breaks (if you need to.) If you’re anything like me, you might have a hard time sitting and clacking at your keyboard for more than 20 or 30 minutes at a time (I can barely manage that.) So the logical way to stop yourself from getting worn out is to just take a break. Watch a YouTube video, look at Pinterest or Tumblr, or IG- Anything you want. The key here is to give your mind time to process something different and keep it from getting worn out on the same thing. The other key is to return to your writing once you’ve given your mental muscles time to breathe. It’s a weird thing to balance, but if you can find one, it does wonders.
·         Find a writing buddy. Now this is a recent one for me, but it also helps a lot with your consistency. Basically find a friend or relative that bears a similar interest in writing that you do, one that can go through the journey of writing with together. If you can’t find someone that will write with you, at least find a friend that can hold you accountable. A good way to do it is ask them if they can keep you responsible- Tell them what you’re writing, what your daily word goals are, what times during the day you’ll be writing. It’s a new experience for me but I 100% recommend it to anyone that struggles with staying committed.
-         Find an idea and stick with it. This is probably the hardest one for me personally. I have so many ideas that I’d love to see played out in stories and novels, but I can never make myself focus on just one. And that’s the key- You have to find the one. Now, it doesn’t mean you can’t have other ideas, but unless you’re an amazing multitasker, you need to focus on the one that you’re working on then and there. If I had a dollar for any idea that distracted me from finishing another idea, I’d be rich enough to hire someone else to write this for me. (Not really, I’d probably spend it on candy bars or something, but you get my point. Right?)
 So those are just a few ideas off the top of my head. I might come back to this post at some later date to add more if any come to mind, or just start a new post entirely; call it part two or something. But that’s it for now on the Tips!
So below here, I’m going to list some of my favorite apps/websites that enable writing, ones that I personally enjoy and why I enjoy them. Here goes:
 -         sta.sh: Nothing too special here, basically just a free writing tool that’s similar (though not as extensive) as Microsoft Word. The cool thing about it is that it’s 100% free, all you need is a DeviantArt account. Sta.sh is 1005 online and backs up your files online as well automatically. It’s all private as well- No one else can see your stuff except for you, and if you do want to show it off, it generates a shareable link for your projects. Another cool perk is that you can store stuff besides writing, like pictures or videos.
-         Wordcounter.net: Kind of a similar format, but the importance of it is basically in the website name. It counts up your word and character counts, but also a few other interesting things, like how long it would take someone to read your material. The site also determines your “reading level” based on the type of words and such that you use (though you should take it with a grain of salt.)
-         Draftin.com: A free online website that just lets you write. An interesting mode it has, though, would be the “Hemingway Mode.” When you select this, you literally cannot change anything. I mean it- Try to backspace, nope. Try to highlight a word to retype it, nope. You can only go forward- Which could be either the greatest or the most infuriating thing you’ll ever see. Either way, I think it’s pretty neat.
-         HemingwayApp.com: You would think that this site would have been the ones to come up with that neat little perk, but nah. This one’s still pretty cool, though- it has a writing mode and editing mode. The writing mode is very simple- Just write, nothing special aside from basic editing like bold, italics, etc. But the editing part shows a few neat things: sentence length, grammar errors (to a point) how many adverbs you have, and alternative phrases you can use. It’s pretty nifty if you ask me.
-         Writer.Bighugelabs.com: My oh my, this one takes the cake for me. Call me weird, but I’m a sucker for certain sounds, and the clicking sound of a typewriter is among my favorites. So this app makes your keyboard sound just like that, as well as saving anything you write in the browser. Any time you leave, it’s automatically saved, and anytime you come back it pulls it right back up. The app is 100% free, but there is a pro membership if you want to go above and beyond the normal benefits of it.
-         Hanxwriter: Now this is an iPhone app that is pretty much the same as the one above- make your phone keyboard sound like a typewriter. That’s it. But if you ask me, it’s the greatest thing ever, so go take a look.
-         WriterDuet: Now I haven’t dipped my feet too far into this one, but from what I’ve seen I’m impressed. Once again, a phone app (unsure if it’s iPhone exclusive) that assists with your writing, and it’s really helpful for structuring scripts and the like.
-         Notebook.ai: This right here? This is the mother-load. I don’t even care what you’re writing, but you need to check this out. It’s a website that helps you collect all your world building ideas or even ideas for papers or essays. (Just mostly for world building) It asks you important questions about your universe as well, and there are too many awesome perks to talk about on this blog- Just check it out! You won’t regret it.
-         cerey.github.io/fighters-block: This is a fun, cute lil’ app that can push you intensely, or just give you some polite nudges. Basically you set a word goal and you have to keep writing, otherwise, the big bad monster will beat you up. Like I said, kind of cute, definitely entertaining.
 That’s about all I have for now! Like I said, I might come back to this post to add new stuff later on, but I’m fresh out of ideas at the moment. If anyone reads this, I hope I was able to help in some way or another!
Just remember guys and gals: Dedication is the biggest but most important step. Just write- worry about everything else later.
P.S. Let me know if I should add screencaps of these apps/websites, or if I should just leave it as it is. Peace!
hi, okay i’m probably gonna sound weird but um I really enjoy writing and get inspired by your post to keep writing about Shawn. i would really like to share my writing with the people on tumblr...but i’m worried it’s just not gonna get read by anyone and I just don’t wanna feel like I wrote it all and spent so much time into the writing to have no one read it. i need help, you got any advice? thanks
Hi, Hi, Hi! This is not weird at all for me, and it’s actually very exciting cause I’ve never had anyone ask me a question like this on here before. Also you cannot respond to an anon ask privately, so I hope this doesn’t bother you.
Honestly…
POST IT
Just do it, this Tumblr was one of the biggest risks I’ve taken (as silly as that sounds). I was always absolutely terrified of people reading what I wrote and there were a lot of factors that went in to me finally getting up the nerve to post something on here but for some odd reason I did and I wouldn’t change that decision for anything.
My blog was totally blank when I posted my first imagine. I had 0 followers and only followed like 3 people. For some odd reason it comforted me that I thought  no one was seeing it… so I posted a second one. It felt good to just have my writing out there somewhere and nothing negative was happening, so I kept going. Annnnd now here I am
Okay on to the actual helpful advice though
I wish I had a great answer for so many people discovering my blog all of a sudden, but really the only thing I did was… post a master-list. I did it at the same time I posted my third imagine and somehow people found it. I realize now how helpful it is when you come across those, so as soon as you post your first *whatever* (I don’t know if you’re into fics or single imagines or any of the other options), create one.
USE TAGS to your advantage. I’ve ran Shawn accounts before on other social media and so luckily I was used to tagging things. A few weeks in I saw an ask where the blog let the anon know Tumblr only sorts using the first 5 tags, so use the most important ones first on your writing. Ex. Shawn Mendes imagine, Shawn Mendes Fanfic, etc. Steal my tags if you want or peruse through other peoples for ideas
Put yourself in the text posts too, I love reading Author’s notes at the beginnings of a fic. If people find them annoying they’ll just skip them, but trust me most people don’t. It’ll help readers connect to you, cause it’s your place to be witty, funny, etc. where as in your fic it’s going to be a character talking. It’s just a little way to say “Hi, it’s me, the actual person behind these words.”
Talk to other blogs. Getting a message from someone is very rarely not appreciated, and you can be surprised by how quickly friendships will form. I’m always 10 times more excited when I see a fic come out and it’s someone I talk to. Even if their writing isn’t the best you feel a little sense of pride, you know? like go best friend, that’s my best friend. And even if they’re not actually my best friend, maybe they’ve only commented on one post, that’s still more than nothing.
Find your niche. You’ll be able to tell when you and a style click, and sometimes that means taking all those ‘man I wish someone had written..’ ideas and doing them yourself. Truly, I’d wait to post your first Imagine until you get that feeling. You’ll know the feeling. I’d never had the desire for anyone to read any of my stuff like I did with Slowly. Not because I thought it was the best thing ever, just because I felt in someway it needed to be shared, even if that meant just one person would read it. It all grew from there, even though no one even noticed Slowly until I had posted my third fic ( no one noticed my second either). Which is also to say don’t panic, people will find you
I mean there are lots of other things one could say like don’t take requests at first, try to distance yourself from the female character your writing, don’t over-word your imagines, blah balh, cause I’ve seen all those things be said on here but at that point I’m messing with your own personal flow and that’s a no from me. If you want to imagine yourself as “Y/N” or write 4.k words per one shot because that’s how you feel you write best- do it.
Also  come message me again and again if you feel the need to Hell, submit me your first post if that’ll make you feel better (I’d love to read it :) ) Or come talk to me off anon, I promise it may seem embarrassing but it’s not. And we don’t even have to talk about writing, we can just be chill.
I know that’s a lot, but I felt like I should give you the best answer I had.
Best of luck and I hope to be reading your things soon!! Deciding to do this is a brave thing, you’ve already got one fan in your corner
