for @spockgirl and friends: a fun #niche fic exchange where I wrote #quodo. this isn't fully a slash fic per se but please know of the depth of my support for #quodo and belief in them. someday they'll be able to admit the truth of their affection for one another but in the meantime: intricate crashlanding planetary rituals feat. bashir homophobia moment. enjoy!

Ranking Odo's love interests by long-term compatibility
I did this for Quark, so now I want to do it for Odo.
Odo/Arissa: 5/10. Putting this at 5 because of the uncertainty involved. The fact that she's actually an undercover lawman could make them fairly compatible, but we don't really know.
Odo/Bashir: 3/10. These two also seem pretty platonic to me, but I feel they have some commonalities in their backstories that some kind of deeper connection could develop here.
Odo/Croden: 4/10. Croden just doesn't seem like long-term material in general... But now that I think about it, Croden and Odo might actually be able to make a co-parenting relationship work. 🤔
Odo/Curzon Dax: 4/10. Okay, bonded as they were, it would probably be 8/10 or something (they seemed pretty happy although who knows if that would have lasted), but if we're talking about two separate people in a relationship, I do think Odo would be drawn to Curzon's chaos tendencies, but not so strongly to make a relationship work.
Odo/Dukat: 3/10. As Odo is, Dukat just wouldn't be interested. However, if Odo started presenting as female, Dukat would be ALL over that. (Odo would have as much contempt for him as Kira does, though.)
Odo/Ezri Dax: 2/10. Based on what we see in the show, I would say 0 or 1, similar to Jadzia. However, we didn't get to see much of Ezri and Odo interacting (or maybe I've just forgotten), and Odo was in a relationship during that season so I feel I have less info here than I do with Jadzia. So I'll bump it up to a 2 for the greater uncertainty.
Odo/Garak: 7/10. I feel like Garak is a bit like Quark-lite -- he's criminal and secretive enough that he provides enrichment for Odo. This puts their compatibility fairly high even though Garak is generally not an easy person to be in a long-term relationship with. Garak and Odo would also have less heated arguments than Quark and Odo (but don't worry, they would still argue a lot, which provides enrichment for Garak, just not as bitterly), which probably boosts their compatibility.
Odo/Jadzia Dax: 1/10? I mean, they never struck me as having any kind of attraction to each other.
Odo/Kira: 6/10. Not sure about this one. Their relationship has very "first serious relationship in high school" vibes to it to me, so I would normally think very low chance of it working out long-term. However, both Kira and Odo seem dispositionally like the type of person who WOULD marry their high school sweetheart. Whether that would end up working out is unclear, though -- it could be they're the type of couple that matures together or it could be that, in 20 years, they're regretting having settled on a life partner so quickly. So rating this 6/10 for that uncertainty.
Odo/Laas or Female Founder or the Link: 10/10. I mean, they're kind of designed to be together long-term, so...
Odo/Lwaxana: 3/10. Much as I adore Lwaxodo, I think, being real, Lwaxana has a lot of difficulty being in a long-term relationship, and Odo would let her go when he realizes things aren't working and she's not happy. They would work great as a fling, though -- they would both benefit from it.
Odo/Miles or Keiko O'Brien: 10/10. I'm answering this on the basis of Odo being a stable part of the O'Brien polycule, and yep, I think he would be a valued and long-term member that both Miles and Keiko get along with and sleep with from time to time.
Odo/Quark: 8/10. The main issue is that these two might bicker too much to actually maintain a long-term relationship, but they work well otherwise.
Odo/Sisko: 1/10. They have way too strong boss/employee vibes to me, in terms of how they think about/relate to each other.
Odo/Weyoun: 8/10. Had to dock Weyodo a couple of points here because there is such a big power difference between them that Odo would be very reluctant to enter a relationship at all, and that would be the main obstacle for a long-term relationship. However, if Odo ever got past that issue and got with Weyoun, it would be a 10/10 compatibility -- in some sense, Weyoun is designed to give Odo long-term satisfaction.
Odo/Worf: 6/10. I think neither of them is attracted to the other, but they vibe. I think they would both be fine with being platonic life partners for each other.
#I feel like I have less of a sense of Odo's tastes than I do Quark's#anyway don't take this too seriously!#star trek: deep space nine#ds9 odo#star trek ds9#odo meta

Incredibly fucked up that they didn't even cuddle for warmth in "The Ascent" even though there was Only One Survival Suit, to be honest.

Front and center on the shelf in the living room is an odd sculpture. It most resembles a small squat kanar bottle, with a thick base, a long swooping stem, and a rounded top instead of a cork. It's golden beige in color and seems almost to glow from within. The sculpture chuckles silently to himself, as the room's occupant enters alongside a guest.
aka Peeping Pecker aka Private Dick aka the one where Odo spies on Quark as his own dildo. Odildo.
Rated E for Explicit, obviously.
thank you @asettledsky and @gluecookie for betareading!!
