I think the dynamic in Briar and Faybelle's friendship could have been a great foil for Apple and Raven's dynamic. Both of their stories have a villain/victim dichotomy, with the villain poisoning/cursing the victim, resulting in an enchanted sleep that can only be awoken by true loves kiss. Both pairs also include one person who wants to follow that story, and one who doesn't.
With Raven and Apple, the one who wants to rebel is the destined villain, while the one who wants to follow the story is the destined victim. The worse this effects their friendship is lots of arguments, "why won't you listen", "you'll come around".
But with Faybelle and Briar, the destined villain is the one who wants to follow the story and the one who wants to rebel is the destined victim. This should change their dynamic.
Just as Apple can't follow her destiny unless Raven follows hers, Briar can't actually rebel against her destiny unless Faybelle also rebels against hers. If Faybelle curses Briar, there's not much Briar can do to stop it.
Apple wants her destiny, but can't have it unless Raven complies, a source of tension, yes. But Apple wanting her destiny isn't going to actively harm Raven, because Apple can't make her destiny happen. Briar doesn't want her destiny, but so long as Faybelle still plans on following hers, it'll happen anyway. This does actively harm Briar. The 100 year sleep might as well be death to her – she's afraid to die. And this person, who is supposedly her friend, is still intent on basically killing her.
I think it'd be great if, as we saw Briar realize how messed up her destiny is and decide she wants no part in it, we also saw her friendship with Faybelle deteriorate, as she realizes how messed up her friendship with Faybelle is, and becomes afraid of her. Maybe they also have frequent arguments about destiny the way Apple and Raven do, but where Apple and Raven's fights end with them frustrated with each other's stubbornness, but still friends, Briar and Faybelle's fights end with Briar being little bit by little bit instilled with terror, as she realizes that Faybelle is fully set on cursing her to that 100 year sleep, with no hesitation, no remorse, and there's nothing she can do about it. She stops feeling safe around Faybelle. When the destined villain wants to follow the story and the destined victim doesn't, they're no longer just destined villain and destined victim, they become actual villain and actual victim.
Faybelle probably doesn't see what's wrong with this dynamic. It's just destiny after all. Yeah she wants to be evil, that's her destiny. Briar was fine with it before, why can't she be now? She thinks Briar is making a bigger deal out of this than it really is, especially as Briar starts to become afraid of her and their friendship fizzles out. She's upset that Briar doesn't want to follow their stories, but she thinks Briar should just get over it. She doesn't see how their situation is different than that of Apple and Raven. If Apple and Raven are somehow still friends despite everything, why can't they be?
Of course, Grimm isn't any help to Briar in her distress. He's quite happy with Faybelle for wanting to follow her story, and quite disappointed in Briar for turning against her story, just like he is with Apple and Raven.
By highlighting the differences between the dynamic between Raven and Apple and the dynamic between Faybelle and Briar, and how these differences lead to the deterioration of Faybelle and Briar's friendship, it could help the audience better understand how Apple and Raven's friendship is still standing despite everything. Yes, they disagree about destiny and fight a lot, but neither is an actual danger to the other, and they both still care about each other.
This could also be used to further show how messed up the destiny system is, how it's encouraging this predatory relationship that Briar and Faybelle's friendship has become. It could highlight how damaging the "evil things you do because your destiny told you to don't count as bad" mindset is. In Raven's rejection of that mindset we see how evil should not be excused by simply being your destiny, and how if you have any moral compass or care for people at all you won't want to go through with it. And in Faybelle's embracing and being fully indoctrinated into that mindset we see the horrors of what someone can become when they're willing to do anything for the sake of destiny, what they're willing to do to people when "it doesn't count".

New episode, this time with 20% more sass and starting random beef with big rwby critics (depending on if this hurts their feefees lmao)
youtube
Also known as "Why fandom brainrot is a real thing and why it's awful", and "Clearing up misinformation for 20 minutes or so"
In this one i'm drawing Jaune and diving into his character and the reasons why people keep misinterpreting him so much. I didn't get to talk about some of the reasons yet, but i will bring them up eventually, maybe even in their own video, if need be.

Also have the finished thing, as a bribe to watch my series

debating wether I should watch the new black butler anime when it drops and if it becomes available to my Legal Website just to see if they treat grell any better but at the same time I hate black butler and at this point me having hope for grell becoming more compelling is a fucking sunk cost fallacy

This is something I've thought about a lot and if I could have any IP to rewrite/reboot it would be the Fairly OddParents. I've seen every single episode and it makes me so unreasonably mad how such an endlessly creative show concept was only "alright" at it's best and Downright awful at it's worst. Top three ways I would fix it (besides obvious things like characterization and the like)
• Establish Da Rules in the series bible or whatever. Have them all carefully planned BEFOREHAND and then build your show AROUND that-- instead of making them up as the show goes along-- to create a stronger sense of the stakes
• Don't show Timmy's parents. Why did so many episodes focus on them and their sweet moments with Timmy or whatever?? The whole point of the show is that Timmy's parents are NEGLECTFUL which is why he gets Fairies in the first place. Then more time could be spent on the family relationship between him and his Fairies rather than his parents
• Have Timmy age consistently throughout the show. Maybe age him up a year for every season (or more often for a shorter runtime), provides lots of opportunities for plot ideas and keeps the show fresh-- and ALSO builds up to the inevitably of Timmy losing his fairies by the end of the show
Tumblr media
Also the fairies being small and child-shaped was sort of a deliberate design choice in the show but idk i wish they were made of different shapes. this is something like how i would make them look

I never thought I'd say this but Rick being so involved in this tv show was the worst thing that could've happened to it.
First, it makes close to impossible to critique anything without The Cult of Riordan jumping you and shutting down each and every discussion with responses like this one.
Secondly, and other people have said this before (including Rick himself), he's using the show basically as a rewrite — and unfortunately, he's a much worse writer nowadays. Maybe pjotv would be better in the hands of someone willing to treat it purely as an adaptation, and not a chance of a soft reboot of the books and to spite the movies

Ok sooo don’t know if you’ve ever already been asked this but-
I’m like a sucker for cute baby robin Jason interactions with the Teen titans. In my own wonderful world I like to imagine that Baby Jason had (has) a crush on his older brother’s cool older friends (cough cough Roy).
How do you think that would go? (I’ve thought of these scenarios soooo many times)
Especially when he meets them again when he’s older, and ripped, and ohmygodthosethighs
Just asking Fellow Jason Todd Stan to Fellow Jason Todd Stan :)
Tysm for the ask!
Hmmm
I think the more Titans Jaybin had a baby crush on the cuter it gets.
Dick: so hey Jay how was it what did you think of my team?
Jaybin, who spent way too many hours surrounded by the coolest and prettiest people he's ever seen smiling and talking to him: I think I have arrhythmia.
As for his comeback, I'm gonna be honest I'm very critical of villainous Jason, I think UTH an intelligent, enjoyable story but I personally can't get over its flaws so I'm gonna answer using some AUs of mine, please bear with me. Mostly it's just hard to analyse and make hypothesis about a characterization you disagree with.
Antigonish : that's my personal UTH rewrite where Jason is still a villain/antihero/rogue but the way I'd have written it. In this, Jason (17) looks around 17 years old at most in UTH so he's still not exactly a sexy adult but I don't think the Titans know he's back yet. At the end of Antigonish, Jason leaves Gotham and Dick only finds out from Bruce after he left that Jason's back. So I think the way Dick learns it and passes it on the Titans is "there is a very deeply traumatized highly skilled teenager wandering across the country who needs urgent psychiatric care if lost please return to Batman." I don't know when he first meets the og Titans afterwards (though he maybe meets Roy first since I kinda want him to wind up in Star City for a while, make friends with Mia), but I think there would be that "best friend's undead little brother, handle with care" vibe going on on the Titan's side. On Jason's side, I can see him annoying the fuck out of Mia lmao -"wow your older brother is so handsome I wanna use these biceps as pillows for the rest of my life", "have you seen him with Lian, I wanna bear his children" she would be SO DONE with him
Now in an AU similar to Antigonish, but also closer to canon (aka trying to mash my version of Jason into various dc canons held together with glue to have in character!Roy with an older version of Antigonish!Jason teaming up) which I will call the Jayroy AU as its sole purpose for existence is that I want these people to date, Jason and Roy meet as adults (Jason is 22 and Roy 29). Why did they never meet before? Eh, raising a kid who definitely doesn't get exploded is hard work. Anyway the point is Roy doesn't recognise Jason. Jason is using a pseudonym (probably something stupid like Harper Teal) because of legally dead reasons and just assumes Roy recognised him and followed along, but he looks nothing like the cute little guy who blushed like a tomato every time Roy talked to him. At some point Jason casually mentions the adventure he had with the Titans and Roy goes through several kinds of shock and has to reboot like a computer.
> + bonus lantern AU:
Red Lantern Dick: "hey guys remember my first little brother Jason? He asked if he could get some help on an intergalactic issue."
The titans: "that cute kid? Didn't he die? And why would the second Robin need help with intergalactic threats anyway?"
Jason, thighs and tits on display, in his Star Sapphire uniform, with a machine gun construct under the arm: "Hey guys who wants to help me take down a space wide trafficking ring?"

Ok, barring from a reboot (hard or soft), is there anyway a future MLB season can be... Good?
Like, if someone else were to take over the reins and got told "here, fix this mess with no reboots and as little retcons as possible", do you think it's plausible?
The only way I can think of is to just move on from the past seasons and say "ok, we can't fix the past seasons. So let's make sure the present seasons are really good". As in just giving up on the past and focus on the present.
The other way is more fan service than substance: a Marinette villain & health recovery arc. Because I just want her to snap one day and say "fuck all y'all".
But what do you think?
I'm inclined to agree. I think the show was damaged but salvageable after season four, but after season five? It's pretty much dead in the water. However, if someone forced me to fix it with no major retcons AND let me go as dark as needed to make that happen, then here's my pitch:
Make the Kwamis evil.
Gabriel really was a loving father, but Nooroo corrupted him.
Marinette keeps secrets to an absurd degree because Tikki is messing with her brain.
Fu was a paranoid recluse because Wayzz made him that way.
Fluff's chosen always end up trapped in burrows, watching the world pass by, banned from being part of it.
This takes us down a psychological horror route where someone on the newly made team notices that the team is acting strangely as their newly assigned Kwamis start to warp their minds. My gut reaction was Marinette or Alya, but Felix and Kagami may be a better choice as this could be a way to give their sentistatus meaning. Perhaps it makes them immune since the only way to control them is via their amoks?
This would lead to a reveal that the guardian order was made to protect the world from the Kwamis and not to use the Kwamis to protect the world, but Su-Han doesn't know what to do with the butterfly missing or something like that.
Not my greatest idea ever, but I don't know what else you could do to make sense of the nonsense that canon has laid at our feet and this would do something to explain all the inconsistent characterization. It's not bad writing, it's foreshadowing that something is wrong with the characters' minds!
You could also do something about Gabriel's wish creating a reality that needs to be undone and that's why things feel so wrong, but it's hard to pull that one off since reality was literally rewritten from start to finish so why would the characters even notice something was off? Only way I see that one working is if the people who save the day are from another universe. Like maybe Shadybug and Claw Noir pop in for a visit, notice something is wrong, and help out? But I feel like they've got enough bs in their current universe already. Still, the option is there since they visited the canon universe before the rewrite, met the main cast, and Shadybug read Marinette's diary, so they have enough knowledge to notice that something is wrong.

How would you rewrite/reboot supersons?
Honestly, my biggest change would be that I'd make them the exact same age so people could stop using that as an excuse for not wanting people to ship them.
The next thing I would want is to have them actually age and grow together. Maybe have them meet at 10 and form the Super Sons and go on lots of adventures just the two of them. Then, once they are thirteen, they could join the Teen Titans together and then eventually the Titans (there would probably have to be a plotline about them learning to be part of a team and not just a duo). I would also really like them to take time exploring Jon's sexuality. Not anything big at first, just like little hints every now and then that he will eventually come out as bi. Then I would like to see them do a proper self-discovery story arc for him.
Not really a plan, I guess but it's what I'd like to see.

Computing Power
This is a rewrite of one of my very first popular sci-fi things here. I decided to flesh it out just a little bit and make it more of a short rather than just a script of two people talking.
Humans tolerate a much greater amount of… ambiguity in their technology than the other sapients. Take their computers, for example. They are a class above. They're smaller, faster, less expensive and can do more.
But, they crash.
A lot.
Leave it to the Humans to just accept a machine that will stop working "every once in a while."
Gwen is walking around the promenade on the Revelation, a starbase on the border between the Gren and the Humans. It was set up after the armistice as a kind of meeting point for the sapients of the galaxy to live, work and play together to try and build understanding, and prevent another devastating war from occurring. She's walking with her new friend, the Gren Mal'imar. They're an interesting looking team as they walk. She's about three quarters his height and has that stout thick build that high gravity beings all wind up with. Mal comes from a world that's a good deal lighter so he's taller, more spindly with reverse articulated legs and carciform features. As they're walking and chatting she stops, reaches into her pocket and picks up her phone. Looking down at it, she frowns. "Oh shoot."
Mal'imar noticing her friend stopped, turns and looks at her. "What?"
Gwen shrugs and shows Mal'imar the phone. The screen is blank and white. "My phone crashed. Gotta reboot it, one sec."
Mal's antennae flutter, indicating confusion "Your phone...crashed?"
"Yeah, the computer inside it stopped working. Something went wrong and it just doesn't work." Gwen shrugs. "Once I turn it off and turn it back on it'll be fine"
Mal'imar shuffles from one reverse articulated leg to the other. "But, the computers in your other things are more robust right? They don't...do that?"
Gwen looks up at Mal. "You're serious?" She laughs heartily. "Hell yes they do. Let me tell you about the time I had to reboot my coffee maker so it would work again!"
Mal turns his head slightly and clacks his mouthparts. He's worried.
Gwen isn't that familiar with Gren body language and doesn't notice the gesture. "Oh yeah, one time the computer in my car crashed. Wouldn't display anything at all. That was a hairy ride!"
Mal'imar unconsciously takes a step back and looks around. Maybe this human is having some kind of... episode? The things they're saying sure don't sound right.
Her phone successfully rebooted, Gwen continues walking and talking. Mal decides to see where this is going and stays with her. "Also! So when the first humans went to our moon, the onboard computer kept crashing. They had to land manually because the computer - when it worked - was trying to land them on jagged rocks! They all nearly died!"
This time Mal'imar stopped walking. He looks her in her eyes and clacks his mouthparts again. "You do realize the other races' computers don't do that, right?"
Gwen meets his gaze. "But ours are faster."

Sonic X Silver Unleashed would be really cool
especially for 2026, which seems like it might be year of Silver, as Sonic 4 has rumored to have Silver in it, sega would probably want to do the Sonic X Shadow generations success again, as well as finally establishing Silvers origin and finally Sonic Unleashed for modern consoles, and a pc port that people have been BEGGING for
Giving silver the chance to fix his origin would be a great chance to take if they decide that his Rivals story isn't canon (because of the way it breaks Eggman Nega), or just isn't well known enough by fans, finally setting why everyone knows him would be cool
although, he wouldnt actually meet sonic in this game, but maybe he could interact with characters that aren't in the original story, adding more to it, and maybe could have sonic and silver meet in an epilogue short like Dark beginnings
it would also probably just fit really well, with silver coming back in time to fix the ruined planet, not that I want another "silver comes back to the past to fix the future" plot, but it could work, especially if they decide to rewrite him, and because it would take place during unleashed, it could definitely work as a good introduction for his character to the world, as it's the next main game after 06 (besides secret rings) so it could probably be much more of a "this is what happened instead of 06 because the timeline reset", if they decide to lean into that (it would live up to the stuff 06 was claiming to be, a cool new direction/reboot to the Sonic world, setting Unleashed as what happened instead of 06 would not only make that statement correct, but also reintroduce silver around that time period in the series)
they could also put shadow in it, because all the fans new and old would want more of him in games, especially in "the best game in the franchise", also seeing shadow post shadow 05 would be cool, Ian Flynn could work in the Super Hard Mode being canon, where he joins GUN at the end, bringing "Shadow's best characterisation" not only into main canon finally, but also into the best game in the franchise
it would print millions for sega
and Silver's powers could get reworked for the boost engine, which would be interesting, and his powers could react with the dark Gaia energy somehow, changing the playstyle to match up with base unleashed
and I somehow didn't mention that I DESPERATELY want more of that peak unleashed world building, with the distinct cultures in the world, it would blend into silvers story really well, as he's not used to all the people and life, finally capturing that "woah, this time period is beautiful" element that wasn't there very much in 06, despite it helping his motivation to save his world so much
and because unleashed is already one of everyone's favorites, bringing it to the forefront of the Sonic franchise for new players to enjoy would probably put sonic back on top as a gaming icon
also a mixing up more of the anthros from Forces into the humans of unleashed, would not only be cohesive, but add to sonics world, Sonic, Tails, and Amy wouldn't be the only animal characters seen in the game where you see the entire planet, making sonic seem special among them and explaining why nobody really questions sonic's existence
unleashed is one of the only games that really builds up a full world for sonic, and all the other games subsequently forgot about it all instantly, I desperately want to know where Station square is on the map, or White Acropolis, or Westopolis, or Seaside Hill, or Sunset Heights, I want all the stages from the games on one big map.
Frontiers also confirms that unleashed is part of the canon, so it would set standards for the next games to add on to it, because the stages in unleashed are considered the best In the whole franchise, in music, stage design AND worldbuilding. we need it to be a base for the rest of the franchise to follow at least a little bit when making new stages, a remake would not only fix that, but also give the silver game that people have been begging for for 18 years, and finally give him a base intro to the story for the wide audience to fall in love with, because silver is rad as hell
also a game that takes place before whatever forces does would be cool, because after unleashed, the games barely even touch on the world of Sonic anymore, Colors? in space, Generations? timeless void, Lost World? Lost Hex, only really touching on it in Forces, where Eggman completely shapes the globe in his image, but they don't even really show what he changed besides "sand hill", and then Frontiers is on a separated island that we don't know where it is on the planet, if unleashed was remade, it would bring back the worldbuiilfing it had, and open up the doors to have games that add on to the main timeline come out while sticking to that worldbuilding without it seeming off because unleashed is a recent and well talked about game by this point
it could work so well sega, pleeeaasse
I just love unleashed so much, and I'm not the only one

i do think it would be fun to eventually have a rewrite for every total drama season so i made a little list of what those would be:
island - the courtney time travel au thats been in the works for 2+ years
action - would love to write something from leshawna's pov. honestly focusing on leshawna and beth's povs would be fun bc they're on different teams and did have a moment of bonding in tdi so id love to write tda from their perspectives and see how their dynamic changes. i have a soft spot for beth and leshawna deserved so much better that season
world tour - been there done that (slippery slopes)
revenge - probably the roti season in the slip slop verse that i have planned out somewhere
all stars - the platonic alecourtney fic that is sooo messy and painful for both of them but they become besties bc its what they deserve
pahkitew - just a straight up rewrite of pahkitew
ridonculous race - amicus curiae. and also operation nemma. but also i have an rr au with a bunch of different teams that might be fun to explore one day but not any day soon bc i need a looooooong break from rewriting this season
reboot 1 - honestly i can't see myself rewriting this season bc i think it was done really well. mayyyyybe i could write the playa de losers version of it but i kinda like it standing on its own
reboot 2 - oh this. this would fix a lot. bowie and emma reconciliation. mkulia. nichelle getting an actual arc. aroace caleb. maybe some prillie. damien being motivated. ripaxel? more like ripaxed bc i would not write it (no hate ripaxel shippers im glad yall enjoy it its just not my cup of tea). also mayyyyybe some zemma but i would want emma to spend time single so maybe just platonic zemma with the potential for more. i might actually have an outline for my rewrite of this season lying around somewhere...

It's 2am and I've been working on an Ever After High rewrite/reboot something or other here's my attempt to make an explanation for why the step mother step daughter relationship between the Evil Queen and Snow White doesn't exist (it's really long so I put the read more thing)
So like a few generations back one of the Evil Queen's like didn't have a kid or had a kid really late in life or something (if somebody with a destiny doesn't have a kid then the destiny is magically assigned to someone born into a similar life as the child would've been, same logic as how the Charming families have kids who gets random destinies) and so the next girl destined to be the Evil Queen was like close in age to the girl destined to be Snow White. So when their story played out instead of the Evil Queen being Snow White's step mother she was sort of in like an advisory position I guess (? idk shit about the monarchy) and got to be Queen when Snow White's father passed away because she was of age and Snow was not so like she wouldn't be crowned until she was of age.
Anyway a few generations later Ever After High exists to keep those with destinies on the right track after one too many bad things happen to certain stories (along with this comes the spreading of the belief that if you don't follow your destiny you and everyone in your story go poof). Like 2 or 3 generations have gone through the school and now it's Apple and Raven's generation, and by this point the Evil Queen and Snow White are often the same age or only a few years apart and the destiny of the Evil Queen has evolved from step mother to close "advisor" and Queen is less of an actual position she has and just a remnant of the stories past (although within the story she does have political power for a while).
Also a note just because of how the story cycle works and to explain all the important stories happening at similar times there's sort of like a cycle of those with destinies being around the same age. UNLESS someone is supposed to be older in which case they're technically from the previous generation but their destiny doesn't occur till the next generation fulfills theirs if that makes sense. So like the Sea Witch from the Little Mermaid is older so in Meeshells case the Sea Witch that will be in her story is like her parents age not the Sea Witch she goes to school with. Also some destinies are kinda complicated e.g. Cinderella becomes the next Cinderella's mum when she has a kid, so like she fulfills the destiny of Cinderella and then when it's time for the next Cinderella (her child) to follow their destiny she fulfills the role of Cinderella's mother (who dies) which is technically a part of of fulfilling your first destiny but they don't really talk about that part, (there's a lot of mums who are supposed to die which is difficult to figure out the logic). So basically everyone with destinies is born within less than a decade of eachother and then when they're all in their late 20s-early 30s and have completed their destinies (unless having kids is also a part of it) they have kids who are the next gen of fairytale characters. And obviously there are like common people born inbetween, a few lesser known stories happen, Ever After High takes commoner students (they have to pay) especially during the like gaps between a lot of stories taking place. (Don't ask how Sleeping Beauty works with all this I need to work it out still) (Also don't ask why Snow White is alive if Snow White's mother dies, she needs to be around in the story but I can't figure out why she hasn't died for Apples story, idk maybe it's so supposed to happen once Apple has signed and then completed schooling, alternatively maybe the stories evolved so Snow White's mother doesn't actually die and just gets locked away by the Evil Queen so that she can gain power) (Trying to make Ever After High make sense is really hard okay (still makes more sense than literally anything happening in Descendants though)) (Sorry if this is explained poorly I'm stupid).
I'll figure out like more destinies and the logistics of them later this was initially just to explain why the Evil Queen is no longer Snow White's step mother idk why I went on a whole tangent.

What about an X-Men Evolution AU, where the Reader is a part of everything from the beginning? Like, they're part of that world, it runs like a reboot/rewrite of the show but keeps important designs and plot points and certain episodes/moments, just that Reader is one of the teens from the get go, and it's a little darker, with everyone ending up platonic yandere over Reader (or at least the mutants do).
Some mutation ideas are:
• Foresight/Visions
• Animal mutation
• Crystal/Gem Form/Growing Crystals
Those are a few ideas...
Reader could end up with either team, but I see them in the long run ending up with the X-Men. Maybe they're a bit reluctant with their powers at first, but decide to be friendly to the teens anyway, knowing what it's like to be different and disliked for being strange, so even if they feel a little off around them, they still step in to help them, studying with them or sharing food at lunch or trying to keep the peace...
So... what do y'all think?
