Maybe He Just Likes You by Barbara Dee is a superb, readable, well-written story about bullying and harassment—specifically gendered harassment, the kind that groups of young teenage boys do to girls. When the boys in the band first start messing with Mila, she thinks she's overreacting with how badly it makes her feel. But when it keeps happening, she doesn't know what to do, and her friends, teachers, and even the guidance counselor don't seem to help. It feels like whenever she tries to defend herself, she just ends up getting in trouble. So…now what?
I'm a huge fan of middle-grade and YA books that talk about issues that adults are uncomfortable to admit are relevant and necessary to those audiences. This book was intensely familiar to me, and I think it will be to just about everyone. In 7th grade, I actually got in trouble for bullying. I was confused by it. For years, he and his friends had been harassing and bothering my friends and I. Adults kept telling us "maybe they just like you" or "that's just how boys are" or "just ignore them." Since I couldn't ignore them, I internalized it instead, and started giving them their energy back. But now, he was so upset, he'd gone to the guidance counselor. I realized three things: One, that what I was doing wasn't ok. Two, if it wasn't ok now, it wasn't ok when they did it to us. And three, that unlike when we had told adults, when /he/ had told an adult, they had believed him, and there were actually consequences.
The gendered politics of bullying and harassment are a huge problem. From a friend being persistently cyberbullied to my 6th grade obsession with hiding my body under the baggiest clothes I could find, the internalized shame and fear that girls have to deal with is unacceptable. Dee's book is massively important as well as compelling and well-written. It should be in every library and on every young kid's bookshelf. It covers what isn't ok, what it feels like to go through it, shows how to handle it, and will empower people dealing with it—as well as the young boys feeling like it's ok to do it—to challenge and speak out against it.
Content warnings for sexual harassment, misogyny, bullying.

My favourite underrated thing about Louis de Point du Lac is that he truly is the least curious vampire to ever be made and he does not give fuck about vampires despite being one.
Its Claudia who goes to libraries, reads the folklore, tries to learn as much as she can and pushes Lestat for answers about who made him and where the others are. Claudia says Vampire Pride and Louis says hmmm Vampire Tolerance.
And Louis...truly does not care about vampire history, law, culture. He's never even thought to ask. There are vampire laws?...ok...Lestat never cared about them and he's not going to either, lol. He's broken a few and he will continue to do so. Oh you have a coven? he's not gonna join it, he's gonna do his own thing. but good for you good for you.
the 500+ year old Coven Leader, he's gonna call Louis, Maitre, actually.
He has fire powers? thats kinda cool. he'll learn that but only cause it lets him vent his feelings about Lestat.
Lestat and Armand say the name of the vampire queen in front of him and Lestat straight up says, "Louis has no idea who that is" and do you think Louis cares, outside of the fact that for some reason it means he can't kill Lestat? No! Do you think in the 77 years he's been with Armand he ever took 5 minutes to ask a follow up question? No!
Do you think he will care about Akasha in season 3? Doubt it! Outside of her obsession with Lestat, who is the only person left on the planet he seems to be able to filter Caring About This Shit through
He blatantly breaks the 3rd law and publishes a book about being a vampire and when the other vampires get pissed not only does he not apologise he literally sends them his location and says 'you wanna fight? lmao don't miss'
I love him. Daniel Molloy is gonna need to bring his A game because Louis will not be solving a single mystery next season, nor would it even occur to him to try.

something something katsuki can't keep his hands off you when he's had a little too much to drink (see: denks the worst at-home bartender in the world, believes a shot of vodka really means four).
it starts off innocently enough, gathered in eijiro's living room, when he cracks a foul-mouthed joke and you double over into side with laughter. the heat starts to creep up his neck, but it's easy to blame it on the alcohol. he nudges you back playfully, a grin quirking at the corner of his lips.
two more shots of whatever vile concoction denki mixed up and he's melting into the couch. he's sitting on one end, a little squished with how mina, eijiro, hanta, and denki are piled on top of each other - chatting away, drinking, and desperately trying not to make eye contact with the wasted blond. katsuki's got you perched all pretty in his lap because "there isn't any room left to sit." a convenient excuse.
you're flushed and trying to keep up with mina's story and you're having a great time with your friends but katsuki's hands are looping casually around your waist and pulling you closer to him and he's leaning a little on you for support and you feel a zing speed down your spine as his lips brush against your arm. an accident.
his head's a little fuzzy, but katsuki's practically melting with the alcohol swimming through his veins. and you're so soft it's making everything even fuzzier. before he even finishes that thought he's testing out the plush of your waist, your thighs, pinching a little at the small of your back, and back down to your thighs. you squirm in his hold, and he retaliates with a soft grunt and by biting what he could reach.
the spit on your arm is more uncomfortable than the rather tame bite he gives you. you can see his eyes wobble, flitting to different parts of your face. "hol' s'till," he garbles and your heart leaps into your throat. you can feel four sets of eyes boring into you both, but you can't break away from katsuki's heavy, lidded, lovesick gaze.
