RE: This ask on fanfic, fandom, and lestappen

(preface with, I love fanfic and fandom, and I've written for very big and small)

I have never experienced such bad fandom etiquette as I have with 1633. I wrote one multi chapter fic for the ship and 99% of ao3 comments I got were people asking when I'd publish the next chapter, which has always been a big no no in fandom. I deleted the fic because it felt bad that people didn't want to engage with what I had written, but, just ask about my update schedule. Also, people changing the date of their published fic to be more recent, so, it appears at the top of the 'recently updated page'! I have never seen this in any fandom before now! AO3 isn't Instagram! If you tag correctly, people will find your fic if they want to read it.

People are pushing 1633 constantly in very public spaces like Twitter, Insta and TikToK, where we know these drivers have accounts and look at comments/posts about them or on their own posts. Just today on Twitter I see Dan Howell (which what a fucking weird intersection of my past and current interests) being asked at a public panel about lestappen, just because he's mentioned liking F1 in the past. I know it gets easy clicks and engagement because it is popular. But, it's so far removed from behaviour that was ever considered acceptable in fandom.

I remember, back in 2013/14 there was a huge backlash to people bringing up fictional ships to actors/writers. There was discourse after every Supernatural or Teen Wolf fan forum/con panel when someone would inevitably ask about Destiel or Sterek. People would argue whether fanon and ships were appropriate to ask the real people behind the show about.

RPF is fine, I have written, currently write and will continue to engage in RPF spaces. But, there are boundaries that you must keep if you are going to engage with it. Tumblr and AO3 have always been considered locked fandom spaces. If a person goes onto these sites and searches themselves out, that's on them. But, it's implied in fandom that you keep to just these spaces or private chats

(personally, I'm sad I just missed out on the livejournal days... I got into fandom when everything was being moved over from there and fanfic.net onto ao3)

I understand younger social media users are used to an algorithm finding content for them. And on sites like Tumblr where the algorithm sucks or ao3, which doesn't have one. You have to search out the content you want yourself. Liking and kudos isn't enough, you actually have to engage in meaningly conversations and comments if you want to make friends. That can be scary! But, it's a soft skill that is slowly getting lost and with it fandom etiquette is going down the drain.

This is like...one of the last big serious ask I want to reply to on this topic because not everyone agrees with me (which, fine), but OP you put a lot of time into typing this up so I will honour that.

I think fandom, much like a lot of other things nowadays, have become less about fun and more about hitting a certain number of likes and interactions. That's why people push Lestappen on other social media even though most of us have explicitly said "can you not, thanks". The changing the date of the fic to push to an 'algorithm' infuriates me and is a personal pet peeve of mine. There's one that's doing that now on the Lestappen tag and I've point-blanked refused to read it literally BECAUSE of the date changing. People will read your fic if they want to, constantly pushing it to the top of the 'Date Updated' list does nothing except piss people off.

I will say I think the fictional ship discourse of 2014 was maybe driven in part by the fact that being gay was still seen as something much more 'novel' than even now. If we think about when marriage became legal in the US and all that...I still think though that it shows a level of self-awareness and self-regulation that we've lost in fandom. As my partner and I often to lament to each other, we've become so individualistic that people have lost the concept of shame. It's an idea that YOU are the exception and something should cater to YOU, instead of the other way round. In the case of fandom, this comes out as people acknowledging fandom etiquette in an abstract way, but still logging into their twitter account (WITH THEIR FACES ATTACHED! WHICH! THIS IS A TANGENT BUT IT BAFFLES ME! WHAT HAPPENED TO DIGITAL FOOTPRINT!) and posting about RPF. Fandom is not an abstract entity, fandom IS the people that interact with it–from authors to artists all the way to those who consume the content.

Also, I also JUST missed out on the lj days–the great migration was happening just when I was getting involved in fandom and I can't help but feel like I missed out on something special.

Adora doesn't want social media, but is addicted to it, signs up for both insta and tumblr to stay connected with Catra, Glimmer, and Bow even though she sees them every day. She's also part of a discord group to be connected with the other princesses. She has another discord group for Catra, Glimmer, and Bow. She has another group for the Princess Alliance, but doesn't include Sea Hawk since the other one he begged Mermista to be included in.

Mermista is mostly discord with like 5 to 10 other social groups. She's on twitter, insta, tiktok, and facebook (for the guilty pleasure gossip)

Sea Hawk has multiple old accounts on everything, but has "burned too many ships", so to speak, to reveal himself. Everyone knows it's him.

Frosta wants to be on social media but everyone tells her no.

Entrapta is NOT on social media. She's built her own platform. Fully secure with end-to-end encryption and is practically begging everyone to use it. Not because she built it, but because it's secure and because she sees all the data all of them are just handing over to big corporations who shouldn't have it in the first place. "at least use a vpn. I even built you one, for free, juse have it, use it, please!" she would say, but since no one knows anything about how big data is used or how security works, they just kinda go ehhh maybe later

i’m new to the fandom and am incredibly surprised that more people aren’t sad about tamsyn muir not having an official website for tlt or all her works. Not even at least a tlt official insta account. Like what.

I think most people in the fandom understand that she values her privacy and mental health and respect that. In general, I think that not being accessible to the fandom is a good thing for creators, especially queer creators writing queer works that are quote unquote problematic, especially works that attract a large fandom, who can start to feel entitled to the creator's time or opinions or attention, or demand updates or that they should weigh in on the issue du jour.

Also: as a new fan, you might not know that TazMuir got fandom cancelled in 2020 for fanfic crimes, and that's why she stopped being online. She still might be if she hadn't been harassed, or maybe she'd have peaced out for different reasons, but as things stand it's not as simple as her not being online — she was run out of fandom spaces by an angry mob. (Broader rant you didn't ask for: I understand everyone does fandom differently but personally I'm not enthusiastic about doing fandom on Instagram or other algorithm fuelled platforms. I understand it's necessary for some authors to be online to promote their books.... #booktwt #booktok #bookstagram etc all seem soulless cesspits to me and I'm glad that TM is successful enough that she can market her writing without having to farm for clicks on social media if she doesn't want to. This isn't to dismiss the authors who DO, and I'm sure some of them might actually enjoy it, just like I know for a fact many people have a grand time on fandom insta or tiktok. But here in my lil tumblr cave, everything I hear about book social media is controversies and someone's 15 mins video essay where they dissected a book they knew they weren't going to like just to cash in on the outrage hype, and I'm glad I can be a part of the TLT fandom without having to stay up to date with that)

Mostly public accounts with a pretty large following maybe 2-3k. I can see him having insta and tik tok, I can't see him on twitter or tumblr just because he doesn't seem like the type to enjoy reading in his free time.

He doesn't post much (he does thirst traps and they sometimes go viral) and he doesn't add many things to his story.

His following consist of mostly dudes and a few girls who he's talked to or found him cute. His feed and fyp are filled with 'alpha' motivation and humor and pretty girls. You best believe he's includes himself in petty drama in every comment section.

In the mini comics it's cannon that she is into shipping fictional characters, so she probably interacts with the fandoms shes in. Her feed is her friends posts, a few outfit ideas here and there and maybe news. (Idk). She's not afraid to smash the 'block' and 'not interested' button when she sees something she doesn't like, she doesn't take no bs.

Elena Robinson

VERY organised and aesthetic profiles. Has to put her accounts on private because Mokichi forced her to, so she would be 'safe from weirdos online'. She mostly posts selfies of when she goes out with her friends (karla) and on her stories she puts cute animals and nice scenery. DEFINETLY has pinterest.

You KNOW all her friends are up in her dms and comments hyping her up. (Her friends are probably just as sweet as her🥺)

Hatsumi Sen

He's not very active, he only has a few decent pictures of himself posted. Messages every woman he finds and hearts all their stories, uses sucky pick up lines like the ones he uses on Shion. (They all block him). Like Adam, he listens to alpha male podcasts.

Though most of the time he's too busy relaxing, which leaves his accounts collecting dust. He makes excuses about leaving people on delivered but we all know he's just lazy.

Himuro Ryo

Just like Hatsumi he uses pick up lines when messaging women, however he succeeds as his ones aren't cringe. Posts pictures and selfies of him doing whatever frequently and all his simps eat it up. (Also posts 'felt cute might delete later' pictures).

He's pretty popular at 6-7 ish k. He's one of those people who have a shit ton of notifications.

He threatens posting unflattering pictures of Lihito and Okubo daily.

Imai Cosmo

Follows meme pages and sends memes to Seki and Waka. Has a private spam account and a public main where he posts pictures with his family on holidays.

His feed and fyp is mostly memes with some cute animal videos sprinkled throughout. Sometimes when he sees a particularly cute video, he leaves a positive comment like 'aww your puppy is so cute🥺' .

I can see him as the type to always have airpods in his ears blasting music so loud that everyone can hear. Seki and Waka have had to remove his earphones quite a few times to get his attention.

My friends and I have a tradition of playing "does this character have sex" whenever we get into a new piece of media, because we always enjoy everything together, and today we spent a few hours discussing TWST charactrs. They found out that I now have a Tumblr blog and told me I should "post our very scientific findings for the interwebs" (Note that we are all between the ages of 16-17, so in the same age group as the characters)

Riddle: no, and he somehow doesn't even know what sex is. You'd think he'd know with how much he studies about everything you learn in school, so even sex-ed but no, he doesn't know

Ace: gray area, no bitches respectfully, except maybe Deuce, but we couldn't agree on that, he would treat it as "it's just a prank bro, no homo"

Deuce: yeah, sure, I mean he's pretty okay looking, not often tho

Cater: he seems like he'd be a dicord kitten or an insta-thot, he tries but doesn't really succeed, maybe once or twice.

Jamil: yeah, ig, normal 17 year old guy, he isn't basic like Trey, but he just doesn't have time because of Kalim

Vil: Yes, and his standards are surprisingly not as high as you'd think, we got very heated about how people often mischaracterize him as a very vain but he just wants people to be themselves and best version of themselves. Good for cardio

or maybe, is mithrun’s choice completely driven by desire for revenge? but that would be easier to obtain if he stayed with the canaries. or could it be an extension of mithrun needing things and his actions being dictated by those things, just without mithrun registering consciously that he needs these things? eg his body collapses when he needs rest, but in *his* perception, he just collapses randomly, he doesn't register the need for rest. so maybe something in him needs to confide his backstory to kabru, needs to join kabru, and it doesn't register consciously as a need, he doesn't care to know the reason for acting on it, but his actions/choices are dictated by it all the same. is this elaborated on later and i'm babbling nonsense, or is it never addressed and i'm just overthinking it. i wonder.

Happy Late Melly Monday everyone!

Time for another commission blog. This time it is with @moonllita with Queen Melia and child Eunie.

Queen Melia is definitely a favorite look of lot of Melia fans. And it is plain to see why. The big poofy black dress and the decorations such as the blue wings and the three birds on her garment is such a strong and distinctive look for Melia.

It's incredibly gothic inspired, and it suits her very well.

Now with child Eunie was a given. I liked the idea of Melia being with Eunie when she was a small child (in the old world before Xenoblade 3) and the design of child Eunie's outfit Moonllita gave her was such a treat to be honest.

Nothing much has changed from the sketch. I love the linework a lot, and I don't think maybe people can't agree there.

As for the art itself, HOLY ZANZA IT IS AMAZING!!! LIKE I love how she was so consistent with the colors here. Eunie's outfit especially looks nice. And I love the expression and Eunie touching Melia's wing here. It was a nice *touch* if you know I mean XD.

I find it funny that at the time, there was a theory that Eunie was Melia's child similar to how Mio is Nia's child. I personally don't believe that, but let's just say it formed some very nice friendships along the way. And I really do appreciate those friends. 😊😊

I wish I had the experience of badgal person. When The Last came out, all I saw was NH shippers rubbing it and the screenshots from it in everyone's faces, especially in the faces of narusaku shippers, telling them "Haha, we were right you were wrong, stupid narusakus". Of course if sns argued, they told them Naruto and Sasuke aren't gay. I did see couple NH shippers who were embarrassed by the movie and even stopped shipping it, but majority of what I saw were celebrating that Naruto picked the right girl. SS caused more hate, but plenty were celebrating both ships. Gaiden first chapter made some SS drop the ship, but they were like couple teen girls, adult SS stood by the ship through everything. I actually think nowadays making fun of Hinata gets more clout (kingchris being a good example) than before. On the other hand, SS/NH female shippers have weaponized "misogyny" as an argument on why Sakura and Hinata and the ships are hated, so that's a bummer. Anyway sorry for the rant lol I just wanted to remind people that time was not a joy for a lot of us. I was angry at Kishi, at SJ, and the toxic SS/NH ending defenders. And I was sad too. I was mostly on tumblr too, so maybe somewhere else it was different. I know at narutoforums quite some people were calling the ending dogshit and laughing that SS happened, but not all.

No need to apologize. You know, when I joined this fandom three years ago, I was harassed by numerous SS and NH stans. It went on for some time too. All they had to show for their arguments were the same four Spanish translated panels. And crying about the 'obvious brotherhood' of SNS. Insta would also rec me Sakura and Hinata posts in the beginning, and damn they were popular. If one SNS stan went to comment on the message boards, they would get eaten alive by the trolling. Forget rational discourse, they are really like rabid fans frothing at the mouth. This is not to say that SNS isn't popular, but it doesn't get the kind of validation that it justly deserves, only because it's not het and because of the ending, not canon. The more discerning fans agreed with SNS oriented views even if they weren't SNS shippers. But that didn't do anything to affect the popularity of ss or nh ships.

It really gets my goat to be called a 'dirty fujoshi' or m/m fetishizer by people who wouldn't know storytelling if it slapped them in their faces. Especially now, because now that I have read a significant number of bl works, I know what its general tropes are and how problematic some of them are and quite a lot of them definitely fetishize m/m dynamic. But I know Naruto isn't like that. Prejudice really makes you see only what you want to see and hear what you want to hear.

EXPERIENCE/HOW MANY YEARS: Uhhhhhh...I wanna say 2010. Maybe 2011. Not on tumblr, but I love collaborative writing so I've done it for quite a while!

FLUFF, ANGST, or SMUT: Fluff and Angst. Only three partners have possible smut privileges (you know who you are )and that will not be on this platform. I don't really like writing it, anyway. Asexual and all.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Wherever inspiration takes me! Malekith is one of those characters who feels and thinks a LOT but says very little, so I tend to write multiple paragraphs for him. However, that doesn't mean I expect everyone to match me in length, nor does it mean I'm beholden to it myself. If only a few lines or a single paragraph will do, then that's how I'll reply. I'm here to write. I love to write and tell story and make people feel things. It's not about the length, it's about how well you can tug at other writers/readers heartstrings or funny bone.

I took time off from social media, news, everything for a while. I logged out of my main insta page. I used the internet only to watch lectures, dance and writing. I have come back but I no longer login to tumblr like I used to nor do I use my other accounts for Instagram that much. My main account is still logged out since 27th August. Hence, here are some few things I discovered/realized

1. Navigating through loneliness, FOMO, and restlessness about your work/future/friends etc

I took a drop year in 2022, gave entrance exams till July and I have now secured a college. All this while I barely talked to my school friends who themselves were busy in their courses and college activities. So it does feel sad and a little depressing seeing everyone do other stuff while you are here in a small room studying the same 11th 12th books.

Then I made a new insta account once again after my exam dates neared so I would reconnect with everyone again. Does it happen so easily? Not at all. I was still alone. I would like reels, stories and posts but apart from that nothing except a few calls from friends.

That did give me a desperation to share everything about myself. No one to talk to, no friend nearby and you have so much to talk. I remember staying late up and writing god knows what on my closed stories, ranting about my crying episodes every damn thing. Then after getting a college I was still feeling lost, thinking what to do ahead regarding my career plans. I would then chat with whoever I found from school groups or online friends groupchats late at night but a lot of it was just shallow interaction because I wanted to pass time and not utilize time. We all write about the strange cringe feeling we get after oversharing about ourselves, put up memes for it, but do we ever work on it.

Yes, you can shitpost on tumblr, reblog those relatable posts but you have to put in work to control yourself. And after a while I was fed up. I knew I needed to change it. I needed to put a line over myself which made me disable and log out social media accounts. I came back home after completing my admission related work at my college, finally deciding to find my own worth, fix my restless hopeless personality for wanting to share everything on the first online app I get. This doesn't mean that you stop posting on tumblr. I literally wrote in all caps about savitha Sastry, dance stuff, college, yes. But if you are someone who is alone preparing for exams, away from friends, do not give in to that strong desperate urge to put up everything for everyone to read; to share every bit of it to the new person you made friends online.

I have had my own share of FOMO. Not knowing what I am doing with myself while seeing others doing internships, attending competitions, fests and trips while I sit here scrolling right to left. We are all online most of the time, but it is really necessary to not attach your sense of worth to social media.

Some of you are younger to me, still in school, and maybe you all aren't at that stage now, you all can be tomorrow for preparing for entrances or other stuff that will demand you to be away from social events for a while, to have a rigorous academic schedules. It's sad, but that's how it is. Maybe some change can be brought later for young minds to still have a healthy routine that combines studies as well as other activities.

If you all ever get this dreadful feeling wondering where you are, what are you doing, is it all even worth it. I need you all to take a deep breath. Yes, it is worth it. Yes, you are at the right place, and yes you are learning at this age so you are doing good. It's okay. Your attempts, your hardwork will always get you 'success.' failure is a path to success, and all that disappointment, sadness etc will exist. You will have endless doubts over yourself but please remember that all of it was worthy. You will definitely see in some later period that whatever you underwent was all worth it.

But what about my lost time, lost friends didi?

You know little ones, friends change with age. Some stay intact for a long time while some move away and sometimes you grow out of it. Sometimes you will also reconnect with those friends from class with whom you barely had any conversation but later you see them talking with you and you realize that they are fun too.

And about lost time... I did this mistake too. You all never lose time. You aren't ahead in the race nor are you behind. You are where you have to be. You will get your desired friends, colleges and life. But to reach there, that 'lost' time teaches you patience. And to learn patience, one needs to learn how to wait through hopeless situations and endless moments of despair where you want to give up. But that's the catch, if you give up, you don't learn it anymore.

This is why for every thing that sometimes goes wrong in your life at this delicate stage where you all are growing up, I want you all to be kind to yourself. Take a deep breath, and indulge yourself in your favourite activity or close your eyes and actually meditate or just listen to music depending on your mood. Yes, the same advice everyone gives, but it works. You all, me, everyone needs discipline bacha. Wherever you see yourself, be it career, financial stuff or relationships, one needs to learn discipline and patience. You need to learn how to control the mind because it's going to be very easy to fall into a mindless scrolling session, or giving in to other distracting temptations.

The mind loves chaos. It easily jumps to doubtful thoughts. In the end, from this age you need to learn to control the mind and take steps to be your best self, best adult figure for your younger self to look upto. Jin posts ko reblog karte ho ki I want to be the woman, my 10 year self would look upto etc uske liye effort time sab lagana padega.

Meine bhi voh memes pinterest posts like reblog ki hai that were about existential crisis, the absolute dread of not doing anything in life and other stuff that are actually problematic in the long run for the mind. Kahin na kahin tum jab inko like reblog karte ho they do retain inside your head and tum vaise hi mind ko train karte ho.

Aaj jee neet cuet ke liye akele sabse durr rehna hai, kal badme masters ke liye wait karna padega ek saal ya phir baki exams. Uske liye vapas doston se durr, ek room mein padhai, phone kamm, shaadiyan trips band hoti rahegi. We all need to take life in a simple and easy way too. And sometimes these problems have solutions that you all know deep inside but choose to procrastinate or not take a step towards it.

In the end all of you chotus, just understand one thing ki life badi hai. Aaj yeh nahi hai kuch mahine baad sab milega vapas. Phir kuch pal baad tumhe vapas se akele rehna padega yeh phase sabka hota rehta hai. Rona aarha hai ro lo, akelapan lagega but iske liye jaisa meine pehle kaha tumhe hi khudko kehna hoga ki mujhe apne life mein abhi bahut kuch karna hai yeh sab usi laksh tak le jayegi. I know you all are wonderful, and capable of so many things. You all need to wait for a while, and work hard. Jab yeh sab permanent nahi hai toh bas mann ko samjhao ki apne kaam pe dhyan do. Tumblr pe bhadas nikaldi kabhi ek baar kisiko overshare kar diya theek hai chalta hai par isse apni personality mein pura entwine nahi kar daalo.

You all are made for so much for. There's so much in life that you all will slowly experience, good and bad everything. You all are growing up and I wish you all the best for it.

If we set aside the idea of today human standards and self insertion, would it be still harmfull for a fae character to have lurring powers? How and why?

Dear Anon,

Its a fictional character and I don't care about people having an opinion on whether or not they like a character. They can dislike Gwyn find her annoying or boring or childish none of that really touches any sensitive social issues it doesn't hurt Gwyneth Berdara because she ain't real. These are opinions based on character traits and people are welcome to have their own opinion.

When it comes to topics that are related to serious social issues like SA , people of colour, sexual orientation and representation or disability one must practice restrain because these are very sensitive issues and a reality for many people. We cannot set aside these by "human standards" because it is a reality for many even within the fandom and a lot of the times these insensitive comments are by human beings and my problem is the ideology behind it ... just because you hide behind a fictional character does not make it ok.

Sometimes a character represents more and that's exactly the case with Gwyneth Berdara . She is a character people relate to ... seek comfort from ... real survivors ... it isn't unreasonable to expect people to be politically correct and sensitive.

My issue with luring abilities associated with a SA survivor ??? It is insensitive. Why??? the only equivalent example I can give you (and I really apologise beforehand I absolutely do not support such thoughts or people who use it) is adjacent to people who comment on how the woman was dressed a certain way or how she was a little too friendly to veil the disgusting behaviour of the attacker. The ideology behind the two are very similar. That's why it is a harmful thought process I hope you get the point.

I don't care which side one belongs to being politically right and sensitive is not optional whether it is about a females ability to have children which again is a very real issue or whether it is weaponizing SA or associating survivors with luring powers.

Maybe wait for the actual book and stick to Canon information when it comes to sensitive issues .

Why is it so hard for us to spare a minute to just process our thoughts and make sure it won't hurt real people .

I am extremely ruthless when it comes to my page on insta everyone knows this .... I don't care about the number of comments or likes... what matters to me is that there are real survivors who enjoy my page and art I don't want them reading anything triggering and I make sure there isnt anything triggeringin the comment section ... its time taking and exhausting but to me its not optional ... Is it really that hard to be mindful ??? Is it really so unreasonable to ask people to be sensitive...

New to Tumblr? Some tips!

Hey pals, a non-Starmania post for once!

A few new people have started following this blog (HI!! :D) but this also applies to some older followers :p

There is something you need to be aware of if you have completely blank blogs, meaning:

No personalized profile picture,

No blog title,

Nothing in your bio,

No reblogs.

When people look at your blog, it looks like this (random example):

Typically on Tumblr, this means you will be mistaken for a bot. Not just by me, by everyone.

This is a problem for you because many Tumblr users block suspected bots on sight. Tumblr has a big bot problem where empty or very "generic" accounts will follow you and then one day start posting porn and/or links to malware.

If you are blocked, you will lose access to the content you're trying to follow, and not be able to message the blogs that blocked you to let them know you're NOT a bot!

I'm trying to be more careful now and not block new accounts right away, but be aware that this is a thing on Tumblr! And it's very easy to prevent by doing one or several of the following things:

Upload a profile pic, maybe something related to the thing you're interested in! (DO NOT use a picture of yourself looking cute. That's porn bot behaviour and will not help you :p)

Give your blog a title. It can be anything, except the default "untitled" name.

Put a couple things in your "bio." Again, it can be anything, it doesn't have to be your actual bio details! (It probably shouldn't be, in fact!) Something as basic as "I'm here for [something] content" will do the trick.

Reblog some posts! 🔁 1. it will populate your blog, which is reassuring; 2. it lets you add your commentary in the post or in tags, which shows you're a person with thoughts, and also can lead to interaction which is always nice; 3. it's good for the Tumblr ecosystem in general bc Tumblr doesn't work with an algorithm like Insta, so "likes do nothing" as people like to say (and let's be clear, they're wrong -- likes let creators know you liked a post, which is great, but it doesn't help the post reach a larger audience, and many posters on Tumblr are annoyed about that); 4. it does make me very happy when my posts are considered interesting/good/funny enough to be shared and not just liked privately :p

Are you still around anywhere? Your accounts seem kinda dead

Oh hello, just passing by, surprised to see someone do asks here. No, I'm technically officially done with art and mostly just draw something once a year when I feel like it. I do have an instagram where I post random stuff that involves me painting toy soldiers or whatever, but it contains my real name so I kiiiiinda don't wanna leave that here. A good detective might find it though, cause I DO post the yearly drawings here AND on insta. I also streamed games on twitch, then pivoted to Digimon TCG playing and then ran out of time in my life so no more streaming as well (but might return if I ever feel like it, who knows, no promises). The twitch channel was also called 'synad' so not hard to find. Mostly I'm just busy with real life stuff and don't really feel like I need to advertise myself on social media that much anymore, except on facebook, which is ironic when everyone says it's the worst of all the social sites, yet that's where I got all the irl people connected with me and I like to do almost life milestone posts there. Maybe I should do something like that here as well if anyone ACTUALLY cares about how I'm doing here. The people who do sincerely care and are from tumblr are already in my discord dms, so ya know, doesn't feel like I need to post life updates here. So yeah, thanks for the question, this was nice, I just came back to find one post on my blogs to share with a friend cause feeling nostalgic and here I am writing paragraphs. Thanks anyways, bye!

Tumblr was a love affair. I admired the screenshots from afar (read: Pinterest and Instagram) from years. Infact I used to think it was an ancient site, like myspace or Olympia, no longer standing. (That's how everyone sounds here btw. I love it.) I especially love the Tumblr tags. The best kind of goldmine. I was so disappointed to learn that's not how tags are used everywhere. Anyway, I created my account, once, twice, thrice, over the past eight years, but never stuck around long enough to figure it out completely. I am not sure why, but I suppose the blatant vulnerabilty intimidated me. That is, until last year, when I started my first job. I realised I needed an outlet, and my diary wasn't enough. I tried twitter, and a second account on Insta, but they were just... mehh Then I am remember exploring other platforms for a client when I found Tumblr again. And ended up creating this account. The first thing I did was follow all the accounts from the screenshots I had saved. I was so happy, to read their posts in real time and not wait for someone to screenshot it. It took me forever to think of a username that wasn't taken. And to start posting instead of saving like 50 odd drafts. And there was a moment when I realised how naturally shitposting comes to me. And I wondered why I had not been doing it all this while. And now I wonder how I ever lived without dumping all my thoughts. I re-read all my posts today. And even though some of them are cringe af, I wouldn't have it any other way. It doesn't matter if one person reads it, ten people read it or nobody reads it. I love my blatant vulnerabilty. And I love not keeping everything inside. I am not sure what will become of this. I can't rant for all my life I suppose (or can I?) But when have I ever cared about 'to what end?' I don't know why I am writing this? Why 'this' on New Year's Day? I just feel like it I suppose. Or perhaps because I start my new job, for real, tomorrow. Or maybe I want to mark the year I was finally here. Because it has been the best kind of ride. This feels so silly, writing a love letter to a platform. But its so real.
