the way everyone has a dislike in their profile that actually says something integral about their character. lu guang doesn't like plans getting messed up, cheng xiaoshi dislikes loneliness, xia fei with owing favors, vein with lying...

and then you have liu xiao, who dislikes... cilantro. and fish mint.

but yes!! you are so right!!! i didn't call too much attention to it because i didn't think it was particular subtle but another reason OP lashed out at the Primes was because he was getting uncomfortably reminded of things Dee used to say to him Before

and honestly?? he's still grieving Dee! he's still hurt and upset at losing his best friend! and he still believes Dee losing it was partially because of him. if he hadn't been so reckless, if he hadn't dragged Dee everywhere, if he hadn't pushed him so much, if he had just "stayed on protocol" maybe he would still have his best friend.

so the Primes unknowingly echoing the very same things he feels are the reason he lost Dee plus the ever growing fear he's going to feel miserably at the task he was given make him lash out in anger and say things he never would've otherwise. it's pain and fear disguised as anger that make him snap like that, not him truly being resentful of their input.

but i hadn't even thought about him being afraid of also pushing the Primes away like he did to Dee! but it makes so much sense now that you've said it!

and in a way, now he's probably afraid he's being even more unfair with the Primes that he was with Dee. at least Dee had the option to leave. at least Dee made it clear he could always cut ties with orion if pushed far enough. but the Primes are bound to him.

their options are to be with him or go back to the Allspark and be cut off from the world. and even then, their sense of duty would probably not allow them to stop trying to help him, if not for him then for their people who they already failed once.

and it's as relieving as it is horrifying to him.

because on one hand he can't help but find some guilty comfort in that at least he can never lose them. everyone else may come and go but at least they will always be with him.

but on the other he's terrified they'll grow to resent him for it. that they'll start seeing it (him) as a burden, a duty they're all but shackled to. that they'll want to leave but unlike Dee they won't be able to. that he'll push them away too but they'll choke on the leash connecting them to him.

I think the red hair pirates would be obsessed with S-Hawk too! Especially the main group who've known Mihawk through his teenage marine hunting phase.

Benn would know they are walking on thin ice but look at him! He’s a little baby Mihawk! Look at his little uniform shirt tucked into his little shorts. Every angry and threatening expression s-hawk could make would mean nothing to a crew that has seen the real thing live and in color. It would just be adorable like look at his little frown! His glare! The threat of disembodiment in his eyes! Adorable

Mihawk is very uncomfortable with how much the red hair pirates fawn over and adore what is essentially a manufactured baby him. But yet also somehow touched? By it. He’ll kill everyone and then himself before he admits it tho

Yasopp, who actually did know a shorter 19 year old Mihawk, would ask him if he was that adorable but tiny (still can't comprehend that the seraphim are infact giant) as a child and if he had any pictures, and Mihawk almost takes his head.

I've been quiet recently, but got a bunch of stuff in the works for y'all!!

I'm still working on those paper puppets for a little project regarding intertwined opposites (Possibly one of the most ambitious things I've ever worked on so far) and found a proper way to introduce that new au I'm working on!!

I'm still speedrunning book 3 (I'm trying to get to that A kiss scene and it's taking longer than I thought it would😭), and I just got to the scene where the detective meets The Chamber.

And honestly, I wish more things were incorporated into the meetings. There's so many things that could have influenced their opinion of the detective:

The detective's stats, for sure. Comments on the detective's highest stat would have been pretty cool. The Captain can make a comment on it in book 2, and I think UB can comment on it at various times throughout book 2 and 3. So I think it would make sense for it to be something they noted. And if you consider all the opportunities the detective has to be more of a scaredy cat and not get into the action during book 1, they can end up having pretty low stats, that Captain Sung can also comment on (justice for all the incompetent detectives/detectives that don't know their strengths!).

The Agency stat. It seemed like a pretty big deal in book 2. It comes up when Rebecca mentions making sure Tina doesn't find out about the supernatural when she goes to check the little boys room (this is a wack recollection, I know, but I think it's close enough) and in any option that shows trust in the Agency - including the option for the detective to allow them to intervene when Tina/Verda are close to discovering that supernaturals exist.

The Supernatural stat. Surely, the detective's feelings towards supernaturals would affect The Chamber's disposition towards them, considering that... they are ones, lol. It's something that can increase or decrease often in book 2, from the detective's reaction to the supernatural that bumps into them and how they respond to UB when they talk about them being afraid to how they interact with Tapeesa/Vieno. And of course, any time they show interest in learning more about that world.

The events of book 1 and 2: Whether the detective and UB managed to take Murphy in or not (maybe even whether the detective got bit by him or not), whether the maalused signed the treaty or not - and if not, whether things ended peacefully or ended up being hostile. That seems like a pretty big indicator of whether the detective would make a good agent or not.

*Granted, not becoming an agent isn't actually an option, but this is where having the Agency be more morally grey (which is my preference tbh, I think things could get so so interesting if they were) could really work. Either their interest in the detective starts and ends at their blood and safety, or it starts with their blood but is also focused on their skills and capabilities. So they could make the detective an agent because they think they'd be a good one, or because it's easier to keep their eye on them (or even both - I can't see a morally grey Agency letting the detective out of their sight👀). And wouldn't it be interesting if the reason why the detective didn't truly have a choice was because the Agency did a little meddling to ensure that they can no longer be a detective?

*I have thoughts on how awesome I think a morally grey Agency would be, but I'm gonna save that for a different post at a different time. Because I have a fic to finish lol.
