Spider verse headcanons because I can

• because spiders sleep upside down if some of the younger spiders can't sleep they'll web themselves to the ceiling. MJ found this as very useful information for getting mayday to sleep.

• because Hobie lives on a boat the gang nicknamed the boat hoboat. Hobie found this wildly amusing.

• due to pavitr and noir both having organic webbing they enjoy freaking those with out it out. Pav couldn't be bothered getting up one time and so webbed a book off if the counter and miles was so confused like 'wtf how did you do that your not wearing web shooter's' and then promptly became very grossed out after realising some spider people produce there own webbing.

• the gang don't do it around non spiders except for villains but they can hiss. Hobie and Gwen hiss often and at everyone they don't care, miles only does it if extremely angry or if he's just bored and needs to make some noise. Pavitr doesn't hiss because he thinks it's rude, so the others joke that the Day pav does hiss is the day the world ends. Though he does hiss once at Miguel and let's just say the room went silent after that.

• Miguel will never admit it but he is very proud of his fangs, and will sometimes silently make fun of others for having small ones. I headcanon that all spiders grow fangs but there only slightly bigger than normal teeth so are not very noticeable and nowhere near the size of Miguels.

• margo and Lyla are literal besties and are constantly shit talking people though only on there sense of style. Peni will sometimes join so so they talk about tech instead.

•you are not allowed to leave Hobie and pav alone in HQ for more than ten minutes because most items will be stolen and turned into something violent.

• even though the floor exists some spiders (pav, mayday) would much rather use the ceiling, even if it's inconvenient because they enjoy being upside down and just scaring people when they notice their there.

• Gwen offered to dye the groups hair but that only ended up a disaster.

• everyone ( from the first movie + Hobie) like to compare spider bites, based on the spider and size of the bite and like to quiz others. And pavitr is just confused when they ask because apparently he thought that everyone got there powers gifted to them from a power deity like he did and the others are like 'wtf no'. (Pav in the comics was never bit and in the movie is the only one to not say he was bitten by a spider).

•miles doesn't really come to HQ anymore after atsv only to drop of anomalys and if he does stay longer to talk to people he avoids Miguel like the plague.

Thank god for spider noir being in beyond the spiderverse because Peter b is going to need another adult to help out with his 6 kids. Especially since he’s going to have Gwen “I would break all rules just to see my favorite people in the world” Stacy, Hobie “Major InstigatorTM” Brown, Miles “I’m gonna do my own thing and it’s going to be chaotic and crazy” Morales, Pavitr “I am ready to go along with the ride so long as it’s against colonizers” Prabahakar, and Peter “I operate on cartoon logic” Porker all in one single group.

joined the spider society because he thought he maybe could do some good by helping others, only to regret it later. genuinely thinks Miguel is kinda a facist.

he also doesn’t regret joining the society because he got to spend time with Ham, Gwen, Peni, Hobie etc.

he and hobie bonded over similar views, became best friends for the last four ish months before Noir quit.

Miguel hates him, probably because Noir rivals him in size and also questions the way Miguel runs things around the spider society.

(Miguel is canonically 6’9 and i hc Noir as around 6’5)

Miguel once asked (very rudely) in front of hobie, if Noir only dated Hobie because he was similar to Robbie. You can only IMAGINE what Noir almost did (aka assassinate Miguel) before he was stopped by most spider people who are loyal to Miguel. Basically, Noir went even more crazy because of that since Miguel uses Robbie as a way to get to him.

Noir in fact didn’t want to date anyone because of some stuff that happened, but when he met Hobie and got to know him, he instantly fell in love.

Miguel simply hates Noir, but can’t fire him or kick him out for no reason so Miguel picks on him until he snaps.

he acts like Peni’s older brother, being protective of her. she became depressed after he quit the spider society because she really cared about him.

most likely smokes, Peni hates it and always takes his cigarette from him to put it out. has dumped water on him multiple times. Hobie also puts out Noirs cigarette when he sees him smoking.

humor is his coping mechanism, example (my interpretation of the scenes):

when miles said his uncle was the prowler, Noir responded with “this is a pretty hardcore origin story” which sounds like he’s trying to make the situation a bit lighter by joking a bit.

as well as when aunt may asked if they could fight doc ock outside, he replied with “We don’t pick the ballroom, we just dance”

another one: when he, peni and ham met gwen, miles and peter for the first time, peter asked noir how they got there and he answered with “it’s a long story” only to say right after “maybe not that long”

Hobie paints Noirs nails from time to time because it seems to relax him.

used to wear glasses because he had such bad eyes but now that he sees better because of the whole spider thing, he wears them cuz they’re cool.

I dont know if I’ve ever discussed this particular head-canon so I’m gonna do it now. As always I love to hear thoughts on my theories so don’t be afraid of reblogging with tags and the comment section!

I don’t think spider noir goes by the name Peter Parker in his universe, I think he goes by Benjamin Urich.

NOW LET ME EXPLAIN

It’s not just convenient to have a different name than Peter Parker meta wise for distinguishing the different universe’s Parkers, I have actual reasoning. But first we have to talk about universe 90214 Ben Urich, the original. (This is going to b very generalized)

This version of Urich is an investigative reporter, who was really good at his job. So good in fact he’s associated with the likes of J Jonah Jameson(in this universe the bugle is a real newspaper who reports the facts despite criminal/political threats). There’s a lot implied that he used to work a lot more closely with Jonah and Felicia Hardy to run an information network, or web, to inform the public and keep organized crime in check. This is what earned him the name the ‘Spider’. To reiterate, the spider was an anonymous identity that few knew Urich was. However, over time he became addicted to drugs and began to take cuts from the organized crime he was supposedly working against. More specifically: the Goblin, who’s basically a mob boss in this universe. He had gone dirty, which is why I suspect his previous colleagues put some distance between them.

Fast forwards: Urich takes on Peter Parker as an apprentice after getting him out of a fight with some of Goblin’s goons outside of a protest. Peter becomes largely frustrated working for Urich due to just watching and reporting instead of doing something, this is evident during the apartment fire scene. Peter wants revenge on the Goblin for the death of Ben Parker and keeps pushing for Urich to go after him, but because of Urich’s deal with Goblin he essentially gives Peter busy work. This ultimately leads to Peter getting his powers. Later on Peter finds out that Urich has been hoarding information on the Goblin but is getting drugs from the Goblin so he’s not releasing it. He’s angry, there’s a shouting match. This ultimately inspires Urich to publish the Goblin’s information but also causing him to be killed by the chameleon in retaliation. While this was happening Peter swings in in his spider gear and mask to attack the goblin. They all assume this is Urich underneath the mask, and call him the spider. And later on people assume this masked spider is the same one who ran the information web.

Now as to the why I think Peter took the name Benjamin Urich: As seen above Peter is very much taking Urich’s place. He’s already taking the Spider’s name and it’s very convenient to have another alias to use with it. Especially one that people(from the underground at least) already associate the spider with. It’s quite literally perfect, too perfect, but that’s another post and has to do with the spider god. We already know he has a lot of heavy feelings with the name Benjamin for his uncle as well as his own middle name, which could be used against this theory. With that said I also think in this universe Peter doesn’t feel a whole lot like Peter after the spider bite. And maybe it’s gradual, but it most certainly starts with the spider bite/god. He is not the same person by the end of his run to say THE LEAST. Taking on a new identity, especially the one of Ben Urich, a man who wanted to do good, to be good but fell short, who wanted a second chance and didn’t really get it, would be a fantastic way narratively for Peter to express that.

And finally, because this Peter Parker is not the Peter Parker that May wanted him to be, but he is exactly who Benjamin Urich wanted him to be.
