How I will be moving forward after the February 28 Boycotts
Here are the places I will be re-directing my money towards to support local and smaller businesses.
Stop supporting (or minimize support for) McDonald's, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon, Meta, and other large corporate chains. If buying from big giants, make mindful purchases to reduce your consumption.
Books: Pango books, The Last Bookstore, Thrift Books, Abe Books, and if through Amazon, buying used instead of new. Also, the library, for obvious reasons. I have made the mistake of wasting money on shitty new books before, I strongly do not recommend.
Food: Local food stands, taco trucks, smaller restaurants, and regional chains instead of national ones. Choosing In N' Out over McDonald's, Cane's over KFC, etc., or making copycats at home. The same goes for coffee and other drinks. Many smaller donut shops in the area are better priced and tastier than Winchell's. There are so many places selling authentic Mexican food that you have no excuse to buy some nasty bullshit at Taco Bell or Del Taco. However, I strongly recommend Yelp, some of the smaller restaurants suck in terms of food quality that you get for the price.
Clothing and Shoes: Old Navy is pro-DEI. Depop, since I buy and sell on there (despite prices being pretty steep at times). Smaller thrift stores that ACTUALLY have changing rooms in them (goodbye, Goodwill SoCal!) Go to Ross and Nordstrom Rack, and avoid Marshalls and TJ Maxx, apparently. DD's is shitty but I can work with it if I'm in a financial pinch. Facebook groups, but I haven't found any good ones yet. For shoes, Journey's, Zappos, WSS, DSW, and brand websites will work (and Depop if I am confident the shoe will fit).
Beauty: ULTA is pro-DEI. I can also order directly from brands' sites.
Haircare: I have too much, but if I need more, Sally Beauty is my go-to. Not sure about the local hair store, though, since I hear stories about store owners profiling their Black customers.
Personal care: I believe I have found what I need at Food4Less.
Groceries: Food4Less or Trader Joe's, Northgate Gonzalez Markets if I am too lazy to travel far or need something cheaper there than at the other stores.
Hardware and Tools: Maybe Harbor Freight, but I am so used to using Home Depot for everything since it is trusted and so accessible. This is going to be a hard one for me.
Gaming: Shopping sales and sticking to battle passes and Bing/Microsoft Rewards to minimize spending on unnecessary purchases on skins (it is a challenge due to FOMO and limited-time collabs, especially on Overwatch). If I am buying consoles and console gams, I will buy from trusted resellers (too many scams on Mercari and other user-based platforms)
Tech: Buy new due to being burned in the past from buying refurbished tech, but cut back on consumption. Use BackMarket for used iPhones and Pixels, or buy new or certified refurbished from Samsung for Galaxy phones.
Stationery and Office Supplies: I have so much shit hoarded from years of schooling and coursework. However, go to an office store or a dollar store (Dollar Tree/General or Family Dollar) if you don't want to support Target or Walmart. If you went to a hood school like I did, they will sometimes give away free school supplies. I'm gonna make a separate post on school supplies you DO and DO NOT need.

I have a 16 almost 17 year old who wants to start dressing goth/punk, and I'm all for it, I just don't...know...how...to help? I'm not a fashion person, my fashion is funny tee shirts and jeans, and I want to help but I don't know HOW. Do you have sort of a ...starter list of shops or types of clothes or anything? TL;dr -- tee shirt Mom needs help pls
Firstly, you are an AWESOME mom.
Ask your kid what style of goth they're interested in; ask them for images, links, anything. Goth/punk fashion is a vast umbrella for all sorts of different things. No matter what they show you, remember that goth/punk fashion doesn't have to be from "subculture" stores - avoid places like Killstar, Dolls Kill (ESPECIALLY AVOID THEM), Shein, etc. A lot of the basics are things you can find at any big-box mainstream store (or Amazon); for speciality items, shops like Foxblood, Lively Ghosts, and Die With Your Boots On are great. And don't forget resale sites! eBay, Poshmark, Depop, etc. However, some recommendations for goth/punk basics:
Oversized black shirts - tshirts, button ups, tunics, whatever. All of these can be customized by cutting off collars, sleeves, adding slashes, adding safety pins, adding lace or ribbons ... you get the idea.
Black leggings.
A black duster. Lace, satin, velvet, cotton, rayon, whatever. You can find some amazing ones by searching for "black beach cover up" on Amazon.
Fishnet tights - cut off the feet, cut out the crotch, and boom! Instant fishnet shirt to wear under other things.
Belts. No matter the gender presentation, wearing an interesting belt will make the outfit more striking. There are all sorts of faux corset belts out there (which are my personal preference), but layering a bunch of different belts is also a great look.
Boots! While there are a LOT of specialty gothy boots out there, black boots in a style like the original Dr. Marten's boots are a classic for a reason.
With those things as a foundation, your teen can start enhancing and customizing their look with accessories - necklaces, bracelets, pins, (this is where thrift stores and mainstream mall stores can be helpful - layer on all the necklaces you can find from Ross or TJ Maxx!), or shawls, scarves, plain blazers they customize, etc. Antimony and Lace has great project tutorials. New Goose post because the old one from like 2022 was outdated
Tumblr media
Name: Canada Goose (“Goose”)
Age: 33(?)
Gender: Male
Sentence: 10 years for trafficking drugs, assault, and probably some other stuff too lol
Occupation: “associate car salesman” (drug dealer) at Sports Maxx’s car lot
Stand: Barenaked Ladies - Squishy little parasite stand that enters the bloodstream via open wounds and travels to the brain. It’s too floppy to do any damage to your brain, but once it’s attached Goose can basically hear all of your thoughts, and transmit his own messages directly to your head. Have fun trying to take it out.
Info: Not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he makes up for it by being Big and Large. He’s pretty good at his job…which is pretty much just doing whatever Sports Maxx tells him to do. Has he killed people? Probably. Would he do it again? Yes, he has no morals and would do anything for $5 and a cigarette. Maxx likes him because he’s too lazy to try to double cross him, and his stand allows him to sniff out those who would. Only downside is he’s often too lazy to do much of anything, and he’s definitely pocketing some of the shit he’s supposed to be selling.

The Commercial Witch
This post is a little unlike my others, but it is one that I find interesting and have been wanting to make for a while, if simply to talk about it as more of a think piece. Since I began actively practicing witchcraft, I've been seeing a rise in companies and brands promoting and selling things related to witchcraft, as well as a host of social media influencers making witchy aesthetic posts with elaborate altars and setups. While there is nothing inherently wrong with either of those, it has led to a side effect that I've seen mentioned offhandedly but not really talked about much: the commercialization of witchcraft.
Influence
While I love the aesthetic posts as much as the next witch (both because they are pretty and organized well, and because it sometimes sparks ideas of my own), I don't so much love the implications such posts give about the nature of witchcraft in the modern day.
I've seen many new witches ask what crystals they have to buy, and what plants they should start with, and how to make a grimoire look picture perfect, and where to buy the best tools, and is a drawer full of divination tools enough or do they need more? All perfectly valid and genuine questions for those still learning, that deserve full and honest answers. But I've also seen just as many posts from people wanting to learn witchcraft that lament that they could never afford it, and that is where the problem I feel lies.
Posts from witchcraft influencers and those who simply like the aesthetic and are not actual witches imply through what they show that it is the things that make the witch rather than the person themself - and that the only way to harness magical ability is through items rather than practice and skill. So, not knowing any better, new witches pick up on that and believe the same.
To be clear: material goods are not a problem. If dozens of tarot decks make you happy, go ahead. If collecting crystals adds value to your practice, do so. If you find a box full of A-Z herbs useful, absolutely get it! My problem comes with the fact that none of these collections are necessary to becoming a witch, and it is often presented as such. The earliest witches we have records of did not have access to the wide range of spices and herbs we do. They did not have crystals, minerals, and stones from around the world to harness energy. They often did not have libraries of books to learn from - and likely, many would not have been able to read even if they did. They (usually) did not have specially made tools for their craft. They used what was available, they used what they knew and made and grew themselves, they learned from each other or practice or observation, and they used items that they already owned.
And so can we.
Capitalism and Witchcraft
As the other half of this topic, the relationship between capitalism and witchcraft is also concerning to me for a variety of reasons. I have noticed an increase in regular stores selling witchcraft goods in kits and little box sets and the like, and upon inspecting them, most are... inadequate, at the least. Generally, they are either very surface-level or very appropriative - neither of which should be something we should be thrilled about.
From selling white sage for 'smudging' and a cheap tarot deck in Sephora's Starter Witch Kit to TJ Maxx selling herb kits, mini mortars and pestles, and cheap divination decks as a Halloween gimmick, large companies are trying to cash in on the renewed interest in witchcraft. The increase in interest itself is not offensive - many witches I know appreciate the more open acceptance of a practice many of us have had to keep hidden for fear of judgment and safety. However, with large brands treating it like a trend without doing research or marketing it appropriately, it can cause harm.
I made a post recently about cultural appropriation in witchcraft, and two of the signs of appropriation are lacking respect for a practice and commercializing it. Large brands marketing things like tarot decks as fun games to play with your friends ignores the rich historical and cultural context attached to the cards, as well as the spiritual significance they take on for many readers. By giving surface-level books on how to read them, or failing to provide books at all, they encourage a lack of knowledge in the subject - another red flag for appropriation. By selling herb kits for 'smudging' containing things like white sage or palo santo, they are taking from closed practices and traditions that were often made illegal to those from whom they originated (yet another red flag), and teaching newcomers to as well.
This isn't to say a new witch cannot buy their first items from brands like this - many do not have the option of locally sourcing their materials from small businesses that put in the work to sell items respectfully, as these are still often far and in between. There may also be safety reasons or other reasons why they are unable to acquire tools in any other way, and my intent is not to pass judgment on those who do for whatever reason. My intent is to urge new witches to look beyond the surface of what these companies present, and to critique the companies for selling these items the way they do to begin with.
Some of these companies have removed their items due to backlash - as Sephora did with their kit - while others simply do not care. And, there is nothing we as individuals can do to stop the companies from trying, without organized collective action; and I do not believe our communities are at a place where that effort can be made in earnest just yet, though hopefully in the future they will be.
Moving Forward
So, from where I stand, it is up to us as consumers of both media and materials to think critically about what we are consuming. Whether that be questioning assumptions we make based on what we see online, or questioning the ethics of what we are purchasing and where it comes from.
Our lines will look different depending on where we are, what we practice, and the resources available to us. All I urge people to do is to do what they can to be intentional in their choices, and that if consuming from large companies and social media to put in the work to deepen the surface-level understanding they offer and grow on your own.

Dec. 12th: Errand Day
Day 12: Grocery Shopping/Somone sets off the fire alarm
Day 12 of @comp-lady’s Domestic December writing challenge is upon us!
Warnings: Maybe Swearing (This is an 18+ blog, minors dni)  Word Counts: 1.1k+ Words Pairings: Steve Harrington x Reader
Finally having a day off of work, I decided to spend the day running some unnecessary errands, Target, TJ Maxx, and Ulta. A day full of treating myself with a vanilla latte in hand. After I got out of bed, I took my time getting ready. I put on an outfit that made me confident but was also practical for an errand day. Once I was dressed and I finished my hair and makeup. I walked down the stairs hoping to find some coffee still in the pot from my parents so I could make an iced latte. Instead, I found Steve sitting at my kitchen table reading the newspaper that was undoubtedly left by my dad.
“Stevie,” I said, crossing the threshold into the kitchen and making my way towards him. “What are you doing here, I though you had to work today?”
“I was supposed to but Keith called to swap shifts with me for later in the week. Apparently they needed a manager to be there to sign for a delivery today,” He said, standing up to pull you in for a kiss.
“Mm,” I acknowledged, leaning into the kiss before breaking away. “Does this mean you want to join me with running errands today?”
“Only if those errands include grocery shopping, I need to get some things for my house,” Steve responded.
“I think I can make that work,” I said before smiling up at the boy. After telling Steve the plans I had for the day, I poured us both an iced coffee and we got into Steve’s car to head to our first destination, TJ Maxx.
“So what do we need to get here?” Steve questioned as you walked through the automatic doors.
“Oh, we don’t need anything. We are just looking to see if we see anything that we can’t live without.”
“That sounds like we are wasting time,” Steve wondered out loud, looking at me with a weird look in his eyes.
“It’s not wasting time, Stevie, it’s like a hobby, unnecessary but it brings joy.”
“Hm, okay,” Steve responded, not really believing it.
Together, we walked through the entirety of the store, I would pick up random items, asking Steve his opinion of them. Before long, his interest was piqued and he was invested in this ‘hobby.’
“Baby,” Steve said, garnering my attention before shoving a kitchen tool in my face. “Look at this, I feel like this is something we can’t live without.”
“Steve, I’m not sure we have a use for a loose-leaf tea holder,” I said, a smile overtaking my face at his giddy reaction. “Have you ever had a cup of tea?”
“No, but I feel like I could start.”
“And that is when we know it’s the to leave the store,” I said, grabbing the item from him and putting it back on the shelf. Placing my hand out for Steve to grab it, he signed before accepting as I dragged us out of the store.
“Next up is Ulta,” I said as he put the car into drive. “I have a few things I do need to buy so this is less casual browse and more of a get in and out situation.”
“Thank god, I know even less about makeup,” Steve breathed out.
“Well today is the day I teach you!”
A few minutes later, we pulled up to the Ulta. Steve got out before opening my door and together we walked through the second set of automatic doors today. “So I need to get more blush, mascara, and setting spray, just follow me.”
On a mission to get through the store, I quickly grabbed a basket and handed it to Steve, reminding him to follow me. I walked over to the Morphe setting spray and tossed one can in the basket. Then, I found the Fenty cream blush and mascara and tossed both of them into the basket. “Okay, handsome, let’s go checkout.”
“Let me get it for you,” Steve said as we approached the checkout counter.
“Babe, these are not cheap, I can get it.”
“No,” Steve argued. “They can’t be that bad. It’s probably what, $30?”
The lady at the counter let out a laugh. “It’s his first time,” I said, pointing at Steve. “It’s going to be more than $30, baby.”
“Your total is $82.37,” The lady at the counter said, looking over to Steve to see his bewildered expression.
“Yeah, I think I’ll let you get this one,” Steve whispered as I laughed and swiped my card.
“Let’s go get groceries,” I said as we walked out of the store and back into Steve’s BMW. The drive to the grocery store was quick and before long, I was pulling out a cart to follow along with Steve’s grocery shopping. “I’ll follow you, handsome!”
“Okay, let’s start with the produce,” Steve said, taking off towards the fruits and vegetables. He started grabbing his essentials such as spinach, avocados, bell peppers, carrots, apples, and bananas. Then he started walking towards the bakery.
“Why did you throw in everything bagels?” I questioned. “You hate them...”
“You love them,” He shrugged before throwing more items in the cart. You were thrown off. Of course he would be kind enough to get you your favorite bagel, especially with the increase in sleepovers. After hearing his reasons I mumbled out a quick thank you before pressing a kiss to his cheek.
With a deep blush forming on his cheeks, Steve turned away before heading towards the dairy section. As I slowly followed him over, he already had a few items in his hands. When I approached, Steve put sweet cream creamer in the cart.
“Baby,” I said, grabbing the creamer back out of the cart. “You hate this creamer, why are you trying to buy it?”
“You love it,” He said, shrugging his shoulder AGAIN.
“Steven,” I said sternly. “You have to let me buy the things that I need to use when I’m at your place.”
“Absolutely not,” he responded before walking away. Steve continued walking down the aisles, throwing in his essential snacks and things to make dinner, especially with his parents away. Once we began walking down the chip aisle, Steve grabbed the blue Takis, throwing them in the cart too.
“Steven, what are you doing, those are too hot for you!”
“You love them,” He reiterated. “I want you to be comfortable and have snacks and foods that you love whenever you’re with me. It’s my way of taking care of you.”
“Okay,” I whispered, abandoning the cart and throwing myself in Steve’s arms. As he secured his arms around me, I whispered, “Can we get some ice cream too?”
“Duh,” Steve said, smirking down at you. “It was already on the list, we just haven’t made it to the frozen section yet.”
“You spoil me, Harrington,” I said, leaning up to kiss him in the middle of the grocery story chip aisle.
“Mm,” Steve groaned, pulling himself away from me to respond. “I’d buy you ice cream and takes everyday if it brought that smile to your face.”
“I love you.”
“And I love you,” Steve echoed. “Let’s go finish up so we can go home and cuddle.”
“Errand day is the best day,” I said bumping my hips to Steve’s as we walked down the chip aisle together, Steve now pushing the cart.

Affordable High-Speed Fun: Best Budget Electric RC Cars
Introduction to Fast Electric Remote Control Cars
When choosing the ideal RC car for your needs, there are various key factors to take into account. These include the power source, size, construction quality, and brand reliability. Additionally, keep in mind that the intended use of the car - whether for on-road or off-road racing - greatly affects its overall speed and maneuverability.
Here are a few other aspects to keep in mind.
Although the excitement of racing RC cars at high speeds is unquestionable, prioritising safety should always be a priority.
It is important to carefully select designated areas for operating these cars, keeping them away from crowded places to avoid potential accidents.
Additionally, ensuring that your RC car receives regular maintenance and inspections is crucial in guaranteeing safe and enjoyable use. By routinely cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting your car, you can prolong its lifespan and improve its performance.
Upgrading key components such as the motor, battery, and tires can also enhance its speed and overall functionality, maximizing the value of your investment.
Consider installing a more powerful motor, adjusting the gearing ratio, and opting for high-capacity batteries. Additionally, upgrading the tires and suspension can enhance the car’s grip and stability, leading to improved speed and performance.
It’s essential to note that while modifications can enhance performance, they may also increase wear and tear on the vehicle. Therefore, regular maintenance and careful tuning are crucial to ensure both speed and longevity.
Top Brands and Models in the Fast Electric RC Car Market
The ARRMA Infraction 6S BLX Brushless 1/7 RTR Electric 4WD Street Bash Truck is capable of a top speed of 80+ mph.
The LOST RC Car has a top speed of 52 kph or 32.3 mph.
The Redcat Racing Lightning EPX Drift Car can reach speeds around 10-15 mph.
The Arrma Infraction 1/7 scale can reach speeds up to 130 kph or 80.7 mph.
The Traxxas Bandit VXL can reach top speeds of 70+ mph.
The Team Associated RC10 B74 can reach top speeds of around 40+ mph.
The Losi DBXL-E 2.0 can reach top speeds of up to 50+ mph.
The Traxxas X-Maxx Monster Truck can hit top speeds of up to 45+ mph.
The Kyosho Inferno GT2 can hit top speeds of up to 50+ mph.
The Maisto Rock Crawler can reach top speeds around 10-15 mph.
The ARRMA SENTON 4X4 3S BLX Brushless 1/10 RTR Short Course Truck has a top speed of 50+ mph.
The WLtoys 14401 RC car can reach speeds up to 60 kph or 37.2 mph.
The Redcat Volcano EPX can reach top speeds of 20+ mph.
Maintenance and Care for High-Speed RC Vehicles
Regular maintenance and servicing are essential for maintaining optimal performance of any RC car.
Despite their sturdy design, proper upkeep is necessary for these cars. This includes basic tasks such as cleaning, checking screws and bearings, greasing them, and replacing worn out parts.
After driving, it is crucial to clean the car thoroughly. For dusty conditions, compressed air or a soft brush and damp cloth can be used. Extra care should be taken when cleaning around the bearings to prevent faster wear and tear caused by dirt and dust.
Please note: Do not clean the car with running water. Once finished, be sure to inspect all components for any looseness, particularly the screws on the servo arm, steering linkage, lower shock absorbers, suspension arms, and upper links.
These screws are subject to movement while driving and may become loose. Gently tighten them using the appropriate tool - over-tightening can cause damage to the threads.
After inspecting the bearings, it is important to also check their condition. Pay attention to any excess play in the wheel bearings, as this can cause the tires to wobble.
If you notice an increase in play after driving, it may be a sign of wear and tear on the bearings. This can lead to decreased spinning of the wheels and put strain on the motor.
To prolong the life of your bearings, make sure to regularly clean and lubricate them, especially after wet driving conditions. A few drops of oil is all that is needed for proper greasing. Keep in mind that outer bearings tend to wear out quickly and should be replaced promptly when necessary.
Additionally, you can test the drive train bearings by gently wiggling the outdrive and observing any play between them. Rolling the chassis on a desk should also be smooth and quiet without any resistance or noise.
Superficial cleaning and inspection are enough with the electric components. It’s good to check that the speed controller’s fan works and can spin freely. Also check that all the components are not coming loose. Check that all the wires are undamaged and that they’re not getting in the way of the drivetrain.
Conclusion

Jjba Stone Ocean Ep 13-22 Thoughts
Tumblr media
50% Crying about F.F. %40 Sports Maxx arc %10 Making fun of Anasui. Also Pucci is there.
Ep 13-14
A lot happening this arc. I don't really know where to start. Let's talk Ermes first.
Turns out, Ermes ended up in prison to get revenge on her older sister's killer, who is getting out of prison in a year. Araki says Ermes's position in the story is like Polnareff's (in the stand commentaries iirc) though their arcs are handled very differently.
The most important one is that Ermes's revenge is framed as a good thing. Polnareff got Avdol "killed" in his pursuit. Much like Ermes, he didn't care what would happen to himself as long as he got his revenge. Kakyoin says Polnareff shouldn't go sacrifice himself. They both lack self preservation. They both run on their own and refuse to get help from others. Ermes straight up ran in for the kill and got severely injured for it.
What I'm trying to say is Ermes's revenge is framed as good (mostly) while Polnareff's is framed as bad. Her sister comes from the heaves to hug her when she kills Sports Maxx. She does it alone at the end too. If her arc was a counter-argument to part 3's in some way it would be one thing but it doesn't do that at all. If Polnareff's arc never happened I wouldn't have cared about the message of this arc but It's so hard to ignore it when part 6 is basically the direct sequel to part 3. It's looks like Ermes just got lucky that no one got gravely hurt or kicked the bucket.
I don't wanna be mean. Pol is one of my favourites and I already like Ermes a lot. I don't wanna make it sound like Pol's arc is great either. It has it's own issues.
Tumblr media
There is still a lot of stuff I liked though. I liked the visuals and the music of this arc especially. The shot of Ermes landing the killing blow along with the music is obviously amazing, it's over the top but I adore that. The music playing is Dio's world iirc. It plays at the finale of both part 3 and part 4 when the main casts face off against the villain. It plays here because Sports Maxx is Ermes's main villain. I don't think Sports Maxx is cool enough to deserve this theme but I like the effect regardless. I appreciate it when music from part 3 plays every now and then.
This might just be me being an F.F. fanboy but I really liked the part when they shot the alligator straight in the mouth. Determination is one of my favourite tracks from part 6. I might like it a bit more than the main theme.
Tumblr media
So she can use her strings to sense movement in the area around her. Ok. Okay.
(This bit is from later episodes but it fits better here)Talking to Sports Maxx, Pucci says "There is a fixed amount of souls in the universe". And then he talks about how if someone had thousands of souls at once. Now I know that this is referring to the green baby, I initially thought this was because there weren't enough souls. Since the number is is fixed souls would get divided in the afterlife maybe. It's sort of interesting to think about. If there are too many souls do they get destroyed? Or jjba has already reached the limit and souls are getting reincarnated. Reused, if you will.
Pucci does care about Dio but I do think their relationship was more transactional than he would like to admit. It's not as bad as Dio but Pucci does treat everyone around him like tools, and cannot trust others enough to connect with them. The concept of heaven is too vague for me to comment on it right now, though I do think it is not as different from Christian kind as you might think at first.
Ep 15-16
Tumblr media
Anasui is a character that exists. I saw him way before I got into jjba. I liked his design back then and he still has one of my favourite designs now. I remember seeing a post saying "How can such a naked character have this many articles of clothing" and I think about it every day.
Personality wise... I'm sorry but he is just so fucking boring. He is a murdered that likes disassembling things and he loves Jolyne. That's it that's the whole thing. His specific obsession with "marrying" her could be interesting potentially. Then you could ask "Why does he care about marrying Jolyne so much? What is his view of marriage to begin with? Any personal history about that? Maybe his worldview might relate to it. etc. etc.
Another interesting thing is why he is with Weather and Emporio in the first place. Emporio says Weather is the only person who keeps him in check. I am interested in seeing them interact now.
It's a shame they changed Anasui's gender early on. I love problematic lesbians, if my adoration for Shiori and Homura means anything.
The survivor fight could have been shorter. That's all I'm gonna say I thought it was kinda boring tbh. Other than Jolyne flipping off the guard 4 different ways.
Tumblr media
Ep 17-18
F.F. my best friend F.F.
I don't really have much to say about episodes 16 to 20 as it's mostly fighting. I think Dragon's Dream is a cool concept and it was executed pretty well. What can you do against an enemy when fate has their back? This arc also has the issue of being too long I think. Some of the bits drag on for too long.
Jolyne tunning to save F.F. despite all her injuries... My heart... I love them..
Ep 19-20
Tumblr media
Jotaro not letting anyone take off his hat while in a coma, with no memories and half a soul. Jjba is pretty funny when it wants to be.
Jotaro injuring himself and it just happens to spell Jolyne. And the same cuts show up on Jolyne too. I get some families in jjba have psychic links but this is too much. My suspension of disbelief can only go so far. I can excuse the Dio bone plot but I draw the line at this.
Anasui actually tells F.F. to push Jolyne so he can hug her with zero shame. F.F. rightfully calls this sexual harassment. How does plankton who entered society like a few weeks ago has better morals than him. Get your shit together Anasui.
People loathe Yo Yo Ma. I don't think it is as bad as some say. Don't get me wrong though, it is bad. It's main problem is that it's really fucking boring. I shit you not I almost fell asleep while watching this which is absolutely huge for someone like me who takes an hour to fall asleep. It's not the worst part of jojo but it is up there.
Ep 21-22
Tumblr media
Well after the pretty boring stretch we got the last few episodes we get this gem -> completely ignoring the green baby thing
Wow so much to talk about that Dio and Pucci interaction huh. I was initally iffy on what Dio's character was going but I'm loving it.
Do you remember Dio's whole peace of mind way back in part 3? I mentioned it while talking about Kira but I never thought it would be relevant again. Arakkiiiiii please more of this.
So firstly, this pretty much confirms peace of mind is what Dio seeks despite talking about humans. Dio from birth had absolutely zero time to chill, he couldn't trust anyone, he couldn't depend on anyone. Pucci is the person he is closest to but even then he cannot fully trust him.
This is just speculation from my part but maybe that's what heaven is? That serenity, the ease. For someone like Dio who has made so many fucking enemies by this point that peace of mind is not really possible for him outside of reaching heaven. Much to think about.
Also Leonardo Da Vinci is a stand user. This is the jjba equivalent of Joan of Arc being a magical girl in pmmm to me. Why would you tell me this.
Tumblr media
Araki can't play with my heart like this. I thought F.F. might make it for a second.
F.F. started to have flashbacks and all I could think was "It's so over". The fight with White Snake was incredibly tense. Having a stand disc like that on hand was a good idea from Pucci.
The moment when Weather caused rain to help F.F. was so hype. It's a good comeback. I always love seeing White Snake suffer. He is annoying as shit.
Jolyne hugging "Weather" was really wholesome despite what we learn later. Despite what Anasui thinks I don't think there is gonna be a romance between the two. More like a positive male figure in her life (Which she seems to lack).
Then here is my least favourite insulting my fave and you already know what I'm gonna say. It would be one thing if Anasui talked shit about F.F. after Ep 22. But Anasui just keeps going on about how they don't deserve to live and that they are lesser because they aren't human and dude. F.F. hasn't even done anything. They only told you to stop being a immature baby about Jolyne hugging a guy when they've got Pale Snake to deal with, rightly so. I'm not even mad I just have no idea why he is reacting like this. All this shit talk over nothing and F.F. still decides to save Anasui instead of themselves.
I didn't see the reveal coming at all. It's was as much of a surprise to me as the characters because 1. I am dumb 2. I don't think Pale Snake has shape shifted up to this point.
Pucci's remarks about how much Jolyne has grown is definitely true. I thought she was just as immature as the other protags despite being older than most of em but that's definitely not the case anymore. My girl ate the musrooms growing on her bedframe in prison. Just to get a chance at saving her father. She has definitely grown... Stone Free grew with her too.
F.F. is not the most unique character. There are so many media that has handled "someone with a newly acquired consciousness learning what it means to be alive" trope way better. But I still found it heartwarming. They are just happy to be there and I appreciate that. They have memories and people dear to them. F.F. didn't have a life before meeting Jolyne. Living a life gave them a reason to sacrifice it for their loved ones. They have a soul now and here come the tears again
Tumblr media
Love getting emotional about jjba because I will look at what I am actually crying at and it's the goofiest most nonsensical shit ever and I instantly stop
One thing that's weird is why F.F. without a body looks like Atroe instead of their normal design. Their soul too. I know why they did it and it was the better choice probably. To us Atroe look is F.F. Plus it's easier to make it emote than the Foo Fighters form.

Fun fact, glassblowing is a dying art because it was outsourced to asia- where the blowers (yes that is the proper term) and lampworkers there have no protections whatsoever. Often you have one glass artist making one item all day everyday. They are paid per-piece which maybe comes out to .25 per piece with no protective gear from the powders or frit that give the piece its color (White glass powder has arsenic in it, you have to have a air filtration system or wear a mask while using it or you should be wearing a mask) and usually they're the crap you find in ross or tj maxx, a piece that should be $150-350 because of the time, skill and materials- is $25 because of corporate greed. Oh, and these companies steal designs from glassworkers on the regular- its horrible.
Don't get me wrong there's a lot of issues with the glassblowing in the western world- its a massively sexist and racist field. I grew up in the glass world, I love blowing glass- but it chases out women, POC and queer folks out like you wouldn't believe. Unless you can build your own studio, then make enough money actually selling your work to maintain it, you won't survive long (source: I have helped my father with three studio set ups. Its expensive and time consuming).
Most of these places that are in need of a lampworker or blower, and for the lab work they need a scientific glassblower- a specific type of lampworker that can make safe lab equipment, usually with boro silicate glass that can withstand specific temperatures- Its what your glass cookware is made with. They know exactly where they could find someone who could continue to make glass springs (yes that is a thing, glass is incredible). But they won't hire them because they won't pay the lampworker what they're worth. (Source: Father worked as a scientific glassblower for a college in the late 70's early 80's and can make the equipment that these classes need. He's been approached about making them again but the college balked at his price.)
Edited to add why a chemistry class would use a glass spring. Because glass is amazing and freaking cool-
Tumblr media
When you have to measure gasses, where steel could effect the outcome, glass when solid, is Neutral. The McBain tool above is probably what the 2nd OP is talking about.
the world is running out of glassblowers and yet you want to become a fucking doctor
