Do you have any HC voice actors for your Gotham City Limits AU?
I didn't before u asked, BUT I'd been meaning to pick some out and this seems like good a time as any :]
my Eddie sounds like Martin Short as Oliver Putnam, tho he would be a bit more monotone. Very clear, articulate, and just a lil whiny. Short's character is a bit more dynamic and theatrical than my Eddie, but he has his moments so I think it's a decent pick! Edit: very much leaning towards a BTAS Riddler vibe!
I've had a hard time finding one I really like for my Jon, but I think my pick is Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone! He wouldn't have an especially *deep* voice, but I think he would speak low in tone. Tho when he's Scarecrowing it Up he's a lot more animated with all the hootin n hollerin
My Jerv sounds like Ben Whishaw as Paddington Bear bc he's just a little guy. Just a lil fella. No real elaboration needed
and for Funsies even tho no one asked, Kieran sounds like Roman Roy as played by Kieran Culkin [name twinsss] and Vincent sounds like Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker from the Clone Wars series :]

Remember when Hayden said he wanted to voice tcw Anakin but good old Dave and co turned him down đĄ
Even worse, he apparently ânever got the callâ
And thereâs any number of reasons why they wouldnât bring in the film actors for voice work on an animated project. Budget is probably the biggest factor (yes they asked Samuel L Jackson but he only voiced Mace in the initial animated Clone Wars movie and not the entire television series*), also scheduling, and just the fact that film acting and voice acting are two different things.
What bothers me much more is they very intentionally cast a voice actor that sounded absolutely nothing like Hayden. Mat Lucas, Anakinâs voice actor in the 2003 Clone Wars mini-series and in multiple SW video games in the 2000s, pretty closely mimicked Haydenâs softer timbre and the slight Mid-Atlantic accent he used in AOTC and ROTS. Then for the 2008 they cast Matt Lanter who gave Anakin a much deeper, broâed-out voice. Iâve seen quotes that they wanted TCW Anakin to be more âheroicâ and âdynamicâ than movie Anakin but theyâve could have easily found someone who spoke in at least the same octave as Hayden. (Mark Hamill as Luke has a higher pitched voice and often speaks in a soft way not dissimilar to Haydenâs Anakin and itâs plenty âheroicâ and âdynamicâ). Anakinâs protein shake voice and personality was definitely my biggest hurdle in liking The Clone Wars (and really I only reached the level of tolerating him).
*edit: changed the wording slightly because I forgot the first installment of animated Clone Wars was a theatrically released movie
#movie anakin is my insecure pouty-lipped babyboy#TCW Anakin has the energy of an extremely divorced middle-aged man and I donât know him#hayden christensen#anakin skywalker#tcw#aotc#rots#video#asks#askbox#anon

Okay so Iâm a relatively new fan of Harold and trying to get into the fanbase but man these acronyms are A LotâŠ.. seeing USM and MSM and SSM and JMD and WOSMâŠâŠ. my dude I am lostâŠâŠ. one crumb of guidance I beg youâŠâŠâŠ.
So a lot of the time if itâs acronyms relating to the names of comics writers, I am not helpful. But here is what I can tell you
The live action universes that feature Harry are going to be referred to as the Raimiverse (the original trilogy with Tobey Maguire) and either TASM or the Webbverse, used interchangeably, to refer to The Amazing Spider-Man movies starring Andrew Garfield)
To my knowledge, whenever someone is referring to comics under the name The Amazing Spider Man, thatâs going to be called ASM instead of TASM. TASM is for movies, ASM is for comics.
There are more animated series than I can count but the ones referred to most often in here are TSSM, The Spectacular Spider-Man featuring Josh Keaton and James Arnold Taylor as Peter and Harry, USM, Ultimate Spider-Man featuring Drake Bell and Matt Lanter as Peter and Harry respectively, and MSM or MSM 2017, Marvelâs Spider Man, featuring my beloved Robbie Daymond and Max Mittleman as Peter and Harry respectively.
Confusingly, MSM is also used to refer to the current insomniac game series, though they are often referred to with some variation of the word insomniac to differentiate them and keep the tags organized. However, if something is referring to MSM 2017 itâs almost always referring to the show and if itâs MSM2 or MSM2023 in my experience itâs almost always the game. Yes, this is confusing.
Just as confusing is the fact that despite SSM is used to refer to the spectacular spider man comics and separate them from the show similar to ASM, USM is the acronym used for both the show and the comics in most instances Iâve seen. So youâre just gonna have to use context clues. Most things referencing a comic are usually going to include issue numbers which helps.
Comics arcs that commonly have their own acronyms are OMD, aka One More Day, and TCW, aka The Child Within. Sometimes youâll also see KLH to refer to Kravens Last Hunt but thatâs not nearly as relevant to Harry so I wouldnât worry too much about it.
Thereâs also TNAS, The New Animated Series which came out near the release of Spider-Man 2002 and is intended to continue it, but because itâs kind of terrible youâre not gonna see it often. The 90âs animated series is much better but has no acronym and will usually be specified as specifically the 90âs Animated Series.
I believe WOSM is simply referring to the World Of Spider-Man but I could be wrong. (Edit: I was wrong, itâs Web Of Spider-Man. Everyone say thanks @theopolis)
I know JMD is referring to a specific comics writer but Iâm not even confident of the name of the top of my head. Because Iâm not terribly proficient in the comics quite yet, Iâm probably gonna ask @oliveroctavius and/or @theopolis who are far more familiar with them than I am for that and any other comics acronyms Iâm missing and I hope they donât mind the tag.
Hope this was helpful!

I'd forgotten about this video edit someone did of the scene. I would've loved to see Anakin's eyes turn blue just for a moment before turning red again, with some extra mixing of Matt Lanter and James Earl Jones. Could've made a perfect scene even better.
@whump-adjacent kofi requested an AU where the jedi and clones band together to try re-anakin vader!

[ ohhh but I could just be ironic and use Matt Lanter-- that would have been amazing... fuck ]
fuck now I want it... gonna have to make an edit now
[ but what if I used Hugh Dancy as Ferus? ... I'd be able to use his younger stuff and it'd match age wise with Hayden ]
