Today's job announcement excerpt (a math assistant professorship for a Canadian university):

we are seeking a collegial, energetic, and innovative individual who... will join in the Indigenization of mathematics curriculum and delivery methods...

I've heard "decolonization" before but not "Indigenization" which I suppose means pretty much the same thing. But could someone clarify with actual specifics about what "the Indigenization of mathematics curriculum and delivery methods" means? I think the only concrete example I've ever heard suggested was from an anthropology postdoc I knew once who talked excitedly of abolishing the norm of people raising their hands to speak in class or in a meeting (she briefly explained another method of some indigenous cultures to determine who might have a question that involved going around the group of people in a circle or something) which would be great because the practice of raising one's hand came from colonizer cultures and is therefore Bad.

Un peu fatigué de l'assertion "l'orthographe c'est qu'un marqueur social", non c'est un ensemble de règles qui harmonise la langue écrite.

"Oui mais la langue française est bancale et absurde les mêmes sons s'écrivent de façon différentes et il y a des homonymes qui prêtent à confusion", oui la grammaire française a des racines multiples qui la rendent d'autant plus complexe, du coup heureusement qu'elle est un minimum structurée de telle façon qu'on peut faire la différence entre les homonymes.

"C'est compliqué du coup c'est pas juste pour les pauvres" est un argument qui ne marchera jamais pour les sujets enseignés à l'école primaire, sauf à faire un commentaire extrêmement douteux sur les capacités cognitives des pauvres.

Il n'est pas juste qu'on ait moins de chances de gravir la montagne sociale sans un certain nombre de codes sociaux, sans travail sans salaire, sans relations nouées au sein du bon milieu. L'orthographe ne fait pas partie de ces conditions exclusives, au sens premier du terme.

Like those aren't necessarily wrong critiques! Those women exist! For a myriad of reasons. But why are they the only demographic singled out? (For context, I am indeed a white woman, but not American). How are ~we~ responsible for both outcomes? While seemingly being purposefully disadvantaged by either "side"?
