Wednesday August 14th

I’m on campus this afternoon. I have the final exam for my Greek History class in a week, so I am studying at the main library until supper. I have already done up my study schedule for the exam, and I know I will be prepared if I stick to it. So now it’s just an exercise in discipline.

It’s hot here today, so the ac in the library is very nice. I also got an iced matcha latte to help myself cool down and stay focused. It’s my emotional support venerate of the day.

since its midterm/final season i wanted to talk about how sashisu would deal with it

i think gojo would be the type to be really talented when he was younger so he's used to goofing off in class and dozing off since he assumes he understands all the information, but when it's time for midterms he's staying up late making study guides and looking through quizlets to cram. he does not know how to study. at all. (he has a reels folder full of study reels but never looks at them) i still think he does very well on his exams though

getou's used to having to work for his grades i think, so he kinda understands the basics of studying and what type works for him. he's very competitive with gojo and will work to get to his level, which is why they often set up study dates. whether they actually get work done during these dates or not is irrelevant. he's totally one of those study with me pomodoro timer fiends

shoko is naturally brilliant, and is one of those students with pull allnighters before the final combining red bull with five hour energy. she definitely falls asleep during exams but somehow ends up doing well anyways, and refuses to get more sleep at night instead of having to snooze during the exam. she's the type to stockpile old textbooks on her subjects instead of using online study options, it somehow works.

after exams are over they fall into a pile on the bed and sleep for 4 days

today consisted of my first time trying to write two essays at once. it actually went surprisingly well! only three days left until my FREEDOM from university for the next five ish months <3

one of the baristas told me she feels like she knows me from somewhere and i had to be like no lol i’ve just been here like five times this week..

Raku Jikinyū, “White Rock series”

Raku tea bowls are shaped by hand rather than being thrown on the potter's wheel and are drawn from the kiln at the height of the firing so that they cool rapidly in the atmosphere outside. 

Their purpose is for drinking whipped tea (matcha) in the tea ceremony (chanoyu). 

Typically either monochrome red or monochrome black, Raku tea bowls were considered radically avant-garde when they first appeared in the late sixteenth century. They were synonymous with the ideals of the wabi style of tea ceremony pioneered by the renowned tea master Sen Rikyū (1522-91). 

The Raku family has lived and worked on the same plot of land in Kyoto since 1586. Jikinyū succeeded to the family headship as Raku Kichizaemon XV in 1981 and assumed the name Jikinyū when he retired in favour of his elder son, who became Raku Kichizaemon XVI in July 2019. He has devoted his career to exploring the possibilities of the traditional tea bowl format in a constant search for new modes of expression. 

His tea bowls are characterised by bold sculptural trimming and the creative use of the yakinuki firing method.

I’ve been away for a while, but I’ve decided to come back! I’m one more semester into my junior year since last I posted. Last semester was a mad rush, so I’m hoping that this semester is more peaceful which is why I’m starting this blog back up. I have applied to summer research internships and am going to apply to conferences this semester, so hopefully it will be a fun time!
