Given the misinformation that's been going around and will be going around, thought this might be helpful to some people

For a lot of reasons, I'm very good at this/at searching, to the point where I have worked as a professional fact-checker for two different publishers. So, here goes:

My Article Fact-Checking Protocol

Thorough Version

Read the full article. Keep an eye out for emotionally loaded words, and all-or-nothing language

Keep an eye out or anything that sounds too good to be true, and in contrast, anything that sounds so awful it must be true

Run the website/source through the amazing Media Bias/Fact Check. They'll tell you about a publication's bias and history of accuracy

Go to the website's home page and read through the headlines. Look at what topics they cover/prioritize, sensationalist headlines, and whether they're framing anything in a way that feels odd/off to you

Do a search related to the topic. This can be keywords, a question, or even just copy-paste the article title (Recommended: use DuckDuckGo so the results don't change based on what Google thinks they can sell you)

If multiple highly credible sources that say the same thing pop up, and there's no major societal biases that might affect the coverage of the topic in those sources (e.g. anything related to the Israel-Palestine conflict/Palestinian genocide, no matter which side), then I'm done!

If there are major societal biases, or I can't get a consensus of sufficiently credible sources, then I do some combination of:

(1) search the topic again + the words "controversy" and/or "fake"

(2) search the opposite of the topic, or do some sort of other filtered search

(3) look up a sufficiently credible news outlet with the opposite point of view of my source, and see what they have to say

(4) if it's a big enough topic, start by looking up 2 of the top national papers and 1 major paper for your region (I usually do the ones in the US, because that's where I am In the US: the LA Times, the Washington Post, and the NY Times)

Adjust "news" to "relevant type of source, e.g. tech, environmental" as relevant for all of the above options

If no red flags come up, and it's a topic I understand enough to smell huge bullshit,

Then I'm usually done!

If there are red flags, or I actually need a certain amount of detail/understanding, then it gets more complicated, but that would be a whole other thing to break down and such

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

(decided to finally repost this seperately from a reblog from another account's post so its easier to find)

2016-2019 american tour, jungle theatre, and mccarter/arena appear to all use a similar style rig, which uses a waist/back harness to allow them to spin and go upside down.

some theatre company uses a typical small-scale lift that doesnt spin

cs arts and eastview use the same seesaw-style lift, although the first rendition is much more polished (cs arts is a little janky). from the available pictures, it seems like steamer no. 10 uses this as well though thats less confirmed as there are no videos

majestic repertory jane flies for a very short moment at the end of the song! she also uses the seesaw method.

the metropolitan theatre also uses a pretty standard flight sequence- from what i know, she's simply lowered and lifted (similar to stc). beck centre theatre also uses a similar 'up-and-down' lift, the difference being its staged to be a 'test your strength' carnival game. again, the latter is less polished, since beck centre uses cables instead of a more reliable lifting system like the ones used in stc or the american tour productions. its a cool concept though!

hickory community theatre and usd theatre both use flight systems that go VERY high up so thats realy cool. usd uses a cable rig that lifts her freely by her back, causing her to spin slowly in the air. for hickory, i dont have much to go off of other than these images so i dont really know what sort of rig they use but it looks somewhat similar.

then there's a super insane flight rig where jane does backflips and is upside down!! (its incredibly hard to see so i apologize but just trust me. ive posted videos on here of it. its wild). it isnt the sort of rig where there are cables spinning her, it seems like she has full control over her flipping which i genuinely have not seen done in theatre much ever.

boise little theatre uses a rig that makes it look like she's being held up and pulled around by her neck?? its very scary but has a really cool effect for jane. i wish i could tell you how this one works but we only have a very small clip to go off of. i believe it could be a harness that attaches around her shoulders?

sinclair community college appears to use a harness/cable rig but im not 100 percent on how the sequence works

also according to an actor from the stagecoach production, jane had a flight rig, though i know nothing about that one. :)

from where do you read the manga?

I know this is not what you asked for, but here’s a masterlist of bsd resources I’ve used over the past year. Because every time I join a new fandom I always think “oh, I sure wish there was an all-inclusive masterlist that explained in detail how the material is divided and where to access to it instead of having to dig in myself”. So, this is for you January 2022 Kyotag, and for anyone else who might find this useful! It’s my favorite streaming platform for the manga as it grants easy access and download to most of the official translation (the quality is not the best, a sligthly blurry 900×1350px per page, but it is what it is). When visitng on mobile, there’s surges of adds on certain days for some reason, but overall it’s manageable. • Website 2: Official translation up to volume 20 (chapter 88), fantranslations after that. • Website 3: Official translation up to volume 23 (chapter 104), fantranslations after that. Lacks all the additional volumes content (and thus the first page of every volume since it’s in colour). Includes the Japanese raws up to chapter 104, so it’s useful if you need to quickly check the original. Denies download of the pages, and features a watermark. • Website 4: All the chapters fantraslated. Recommending it because it’s always nice to read different translations (and endearing too, at times. You wouldn’t want to miss “Dazai Osamu – Ability: Human Failure”), and because it’s for some reason the only website my university’s wi-fi allows me the access to, so shout-out to it. • Website 5: Raws from chapter 79 up to date. The image quality (1164×1618px) is generally better than the official manga English release.

They have an active sex life through out their entire relationship, and both are getting off

Sex and Sexuality isn't the same corner stone of their relationship the way it was between Loustat. Which is part of why it is not played out on screen in the same manner.

The other reasons for them not getting naked on screen is that they aren't trying to convince Daniel they're fucking. The charade is that Loumand isn't some different dumpster fire of a relationship. Which is why playful exchanges, holding hands, stories of romantic date nights are given more focus.

Most importantly, I think, Is that Armand's relationship to sex is intrinsically tied to his traumas. And knowing that the writers want to do better by his character, It makes sense that no ones going "lets blow his back out and then 15 minutes later give the scene where he talks about how he was sold into sex slavery as a child"

CONTINUED HOT TAKE: There's no reasonable place for a sex scene between them anyway. the ending of ep 3 is about Claudia joining the coven as it is about Louis choosing Armand. And while they are both bedding down that night with something they want and fear. Loumand don't get jiggy for the same reason we don't see Claudia rehearsing with the Theatre. and by the end of ep 5 we have literally bigger fish to fry.

I think the way people tend to talk about Armand in general is racist. But like, some ppl live and die on the hill that Armand is this sort of incel cuck and act crazy someone whips out the papers on asian male sexuality. like. okay.

on a unserious note- LORD let me find some more Loumand fics that are not secretly about one of those white men, I am not here for them. and free yourselves from dom/sub = top/bottom, find the joy and whimsey in bossing him around when hes got you bent over the counter. amen.
