hello! i've got some GROUNDBREAKING space news for you!

scientists have uncovered evidence for a gravitational wave background (GWB) in our universe, and the way they went about it is fascinating.

To fully understand what's going on here, we need to go into a bit of background information.

First of all: what are gravitational waves? gravitational waves are often called 'ripples' in spacetime, often caused by extremely energetic processes such as black holes colliding, or two neutron stars orbiting each other closely.

So, how did scientists figure this out? They used 67 pulsars (known as the Pulsar Timing Array) throughout the Milky Way, practically creating a galaxy-sized telescope in order to study this.

Pulsars are the extremely dense cores of massive stars, left over after they go supernova. These are fascinating on their own, but for this project, they had an essential feature: Pulsars rapidly rotate (think up to hundreds of rotations per second), spewing radiation out in pulses from their magnetic poles. For some pulsars, these radiation jets cross Earth's line of sight, and we get incredibly constant bursts of radio signals, which can be catalogued and used as a sort of standard, universal clock.

For 15 years, a team of astronomers working for the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav), used radio telescopes around the globe to track minuscule changes in the signal patterns from pulsars. The changes they found are due to the slight movement of spacetime between us and the pulsars, stretching and compressing the paths of their radio waves as extremely low frequency gravitational waves pass through the universe (yes, that includes you. your atoms, as well as the atoms making up everything around you, are very slowly shifting position, dancing along to the heartbeat of the universe).

At the moment, scientists are still debating what could have caused this gravitational wave background, but some there are some leading theories: the GWB could be caused by trillions of binary black hole systems (black holes orbiting each other) throughout the universe. It could also be due to cosmic inflation, or even the big bang itself. Scientists just don't know yet, but the opportunities this discovery opens up are incredible.

The knowledge of the GWB could help us better understand the formation of early galaxies, or even help us understand the origin of the universe.

So you know how Lord X and MX are canonically best friends. Imagine MX introducing his girlfriend aka the reader who is the total opposite of him to Lord X. Like MX is a vicious, apathetic, ruthless, and manipulative person while Reader is very shy, kind-hearted, empathetic and sweet. So this confuses Lord X because reader seems like the definition of innocence and Lord X definitely finds this relationship weird because of MX’s usual catchphrase. “Innocence doesn't get you FAR...” but it seems like MX likes Reader’s innocent nature. It’s like MX is a whole different person when Reader is around and don’t even get me started on how overprotective this mf is over reader but all in all Lord X is fine with this relationship because he can use reader against MX. (Ex: MX does something Lord X hates. Lord X will be like: “I’ll tell reader what you did.” and MX is just running after Lord X and shouting at him to not tell reader.)

- Honestly I’m surprised you even managed to get someone like him. MX someone who is considered a beast, feared by many and known for doing anything from being manipulative and straight up being ruthless to anyone or anything in his way and here he was being an absolute sweetheart to you who was the complete opposite compared to him. Many people have questioned how and why you were dating him and you didn’t really know yourself. But he treats you with respect so you do the same in return.

- Sometimes he even questions himself about the irony of this relationship. The fact that one of his iconic catchphrases is ‘Innocences doesn’t get you far’ and yet is dating someone who is the definition of innocence and words related to it. This thought literally hits him at the most random points and even more when the two of you are hanging out. He doesn’t even know why but even though he constantly says this to his victims to which you would assume he doesn’t like innocence, he actually really likes it that you are. He can’t really explain or give a reason except that ‘she’s an exception’ which only confuses the fuck out of people.

- I’m just going to say this here and I don’t care what y’all say but MX is great hugging material, even if he isn’t used to receiving or reciprocating them due to how he is a being. The only reason I think this is because of his large figure, hugging him is like hugging a massive stuffed bear. Although I did say he isn’t used to receiving or reciprocating them that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do them or hate it. He likes it a lot especially when you do it because he believes it shows that you trust him despite his behaviour outside of your guy's relationship.

- Yours and his relationship is basically as said in the request is literally Sweet Baby x Literal Demon. You have literal scary dog privileges when you're around MX. You don’t have to worry about getting into trouble or getting harm when he’s around, people would be too scared to do so and even if they did well he’ll make sure they won’t do it again.

- He’s extremely protective over you, he constantly has to be around you like a massive bodyguard rarely letting you out of his sight for a moment unless you absolutely have to be and even if this situation happens he’s not that far behind you. One time you even found him peeking around the corner just staring at you like he was stalking you. Well he was but shut up that’s not the point. He often treats you like a fragile item, making sure there’s nothing that could harm you. Even being extremely careful himself with his own strength around you making sure he doesn’t hurt you. He’s aware of his strengths and how strong he is compared to you and to him it would be an absolute shame if anyone especially him breaks (to him at least) ‘an antique doll’.

- Even though it took a long time due to his protectiveness over you and in his own way worrying over what might happen to you he figured that he could introduce you to one of his best friends which just so happens to be the well known sadistic hedgehog Lord X. It’s not like he hasn’t told him, he has told him about your existence but not in grave detail. Initially when first hearing about MX having a girl let alone dating said girl he was surprised himself. This mostly resulted in Lord X teasing him through jokes to which MX told him off for it. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t happy for him, of course he was happy it was his best bud we are talking about. In fact when he heard about him wanting to introduce you to him he was over the moon immediately asking a million questions about you and what you can do, assuming that you were someone like him.

+ As soon as he saw his friend arrive he immediately went up to greet him “MX! Welcome back old pal” Lord X said with his iconic smirk on his face to which MX returned the favour with the slightly scared you right by him taking in every detail of the messed up hedgehog “Nice to see you again Lord X” MX tipped his hat down as a way to greet him “so where’s the lucky girl? Will she be here soon?” Lord X immediately asked about his girlfriend, which was you not realising that you were already here “she’s already here.” He said placing a hand on your shoulder which caused Lord X to look oddly confused before looking to where his hand was going and immediately spotted you. “Lord X meet [Name], [Name] meet Lord X.” He introduced the two of you to each other. Lord X took a moment to look at you creating a slight tension for you, worrying about what he was thinking. Before long he slightly chuckled to himself before speaking up “A human? Your Girlfriend is a human? Well this is a surprise” he said which caused MX’s face switch to annoyance “Yeah? You got a problem with it?” He asked in a tone that was slightly threatening towards his friend which caused Lord X to laugh it off “No, No of course not pal. Just a little surprised” he gave him a smile before approaching you “regardless it’s a pleasure to finally meet you [Name].” He offered his hand for you to shake to which you did “yeah…same here”

- Surprisingly the two of you get along, despite you two being opposite personalities just like MX. He likes to joke about your relationship with his friend. Mostly teasing MX but occasionally roping you in as well. Occasionally the teasing/jokes range from how completely different you two are to slightly more suggestive jokes. But regardless he doesn’t mind the relationship. Surprisingly he finds it cute, in his way. The fact he can see his friend instantly go from a murderous beast to a massive teddy bear around you honestly makes him laugh sometimes. Seeing how lovey dovey he is around you he can’t help but tease him.

- He definitely blackmails MX about this. Do you know that video by a YouTuber named Slashest with the video being named ‘Cooper2723 is back…” ? If you’ve watched it then I can basically imagine going somewhere like that. Lord X knows that MX is soft around you and doesn’t want to be separated from you. If MX does something he doesn’t like and wants him to stop, all he has to say is “you know…it would be a shame if [Name] was told you were doing this?” This instantly shuts him up. He doesn’t know why he reacts like this. He’s much more powerful compared to you but the thought of possibly getting trouble by you, it makes him scared. Well scared is a bit of an exaggeration when it comes to him but regardless he starts to feel nervous and doesn’t want to escalate it so he stops.

- Sometimes Lord X actually goes through with it even if MX stops or not. As soon as that sentence leaves his mouth he instantly starts heading to where you are, with an angry yet nervous MX chasing behind him. Surprisingly, begging him to not tell you. Sometimes Lord X has actually succeeded in telling you which creates a sulked MX, arms crossed mumbling apologies for his behaviour to you as you gently pat his back hugging his side as a way of telling him you forgive him or that he doesn’t have to apologise. Lord X and MX behave like two kids with one ready to snitch on the other.

- Overall, yours and his relationship is actually pretty wholesome despite who he is.

Static - Dust x Reader | Hurt/Comfort

Whispers, mumbles, cries, screams, laughs, they all flooded his mind. Why wouldn’t they go away? Why now? Dust clutched his hood harder as a particularly loud scream cut through his skull, as he flinched harshly.

It was supposed to be a good night. A night with you and a simple candle lit dinner. He finally had a damn chance with you, and yet his sins-Why can’t they just shut up?His skull rang, the mix of consistent noise and voices combining and overlapping, like an out of tune orchestra. They clashed and fought, screeching and tearing at his skull.

He felt his sins tear at his bones, the pain that wasn’t really there causing Dust to curl up closer to his legs, as he clutched at his hood in pain. Shut up, shut up shut up shut up shut up shutupshutupshutupshutup- “...Ust? Dus–t?” Your voice cut the thoughts, causing everything to come to a screeching halt. The sudden change triggered Dust’s fight and flight, as he flung a bone towards you. Luckily, due to his mental dizziness, he missed barely, slamming the bone into the side of your loose sweater, pinning you by the clothes against the wall.

Dust’s eye lights shot open at the sound of your yelp, as he opened his sockets to see you frozen against the wall, eyes wide in surprise. Dust’s own eye lights dilated before shrinking to pin pricks, before extinguishing, “sparky,” He mumbled the nickname. You gave a crooked shaky smile, waving, “Hey, world to Dust?” You said lightheartedly, before grabbing the purple bone and struggling a moment, before taking it out of the wall. Dust quickly began to stumble to his feet, as his sockets blew wide. “d-did I hit you-” he stuttered, as he gained his balance.”

You shook your eyes, as you approached Dust. “Hey, Dust, what was-” You were cut off, as Dust quickly stumbled back, shaking his skull quickly. “no, don’t.” He said stiffly, freezing you in your tracks.

“i.. i don’t want to hurt you. go to horror, he can explain and make you dinner. i… leave me. i’m not safe,” he quickly explained, sweat dripping down his soul as your hands shook. Dust stumbled back as you began to approach him, holding your hands out. “No, I’m sorry Dust I can’t… You can’t do this alone.” You said sternly, as Dust’s back hit the wall.

“sparky, please-” he mumbled uselessly, but froze as you wrapped your arms around him. He screwed his sockets shut tightly, waiting for the voices to spike and attack his mind again.

But they never did.

The silent hum of your soul is all that accompanied his skull, as you cradled the back of his skull with your hands softly. He stood still for a long moment, before melting against you.

A sharp sob broke past his teeth as he clutched your shirt, whispering. “i’m sorry, i’m sorry-” He mumbled, as he fell apart in your arms, shaking like a leaf in the wind.

You slowly brought him down to sit, as you cradled him quietly in the dark room, hushing him quietly as he cried.

Ah fuck I've done it again

Amalgam AI AU

I've seen some AUs about the humans being AI instead of Caine and I thought that might be the simplest way to get this monstrosity to happen with a massive glitch without abstraction playing a part.

I think I just really like horror AUs and doing stuff like that is just so fun so I made another one with a better title than "Horror House" cuz c'mon what the hell does that mean lol

The only characters I don't have designed currently are Zooble, Caine, and Bubble but I'll add them soon. Caine will be a human, Bubble could be something to help him out and what not.

Inspired by AUs like Sm-baby's and The Horror Circus AU, but like, different ofc.

Think this: the game wasn't originally supposed to be a horror game, just a game you go through for fun. Like Undertale, I guess? But not quite

[WARNINGS: LOTS OF EYES/ARACHNID IMAGERY, BODY HORROR, EYESTRAIN]

So first and foremost, I think people would wanna see Pomni, though Jax was the first to be designed.

Pomni is supposed to be some sort of anti-virus or some sort of protecting thing. Supposed to fix bugs and glitches and prevent viruses from getting into the game. Like a firewall, I guess? I tried to make her look like "right/wrong" esc thing. She was the last to be designed and it was like 1 am when I designed her. I had no clue what to do with her, I'll be completely honest.

Story wise, she'd be trying to find a way to undo this massive glitch and get the game back to normal before she can even rest. Once Caine pops up to try and fix the game from inside, as a dev himself, she does her best to protect him and help him fix the game.

No there is no shipping in this AU, they're just helping each other basically survive. They might become friends over time but nothing more. :V

Next up: Ragatha and Gangle! I actually really like Gangle's design but Ragatha definitely needs a few tweaks I think.

Ragatha, before this massive glitch, would have been an NPC that would help a player out at the start but end up getting lost after a certain point, like a tutorial. She was the most caring character in the game before everything went down.

Gangle used to be someone who ran a little theatre thing in the game, as I've seen from other AUs and took inspiration from, but she's usually nice no matter what mask she has on. More arms means she can help more people at once, right? Game mechanics wise she was like a little shop keeper for costumes if they're needed and she can help with newer mechanics on stage if something new is added. Friendly NPC, you know? Love her design, too!

Now for the first two to be designed, Jax and Kinger!!

So Jax was like a reoccurring villain, I guess. Always trying to make the player quit the game or just scare the shit out of them, despite him not being very scary himself. He's more played off to be a joke character, if I'm honest, always failing with his antics and what not. It's part of the code! I actually like his design, small lil paws and just so shapey over all.

Kinger was like a final boss, I guess? The scariest of all of them at that time. He was a king, ruling over his pawns and such, all of which were also bug themed! I love making Kinger bug related it's so fun. He's a big softie in reality but hits like a train if you ever went against him. He had terrible vision despite all of his eyes and was very slow despite the amount of legs.

Now for what everyone has been waiting for.

The reason for the AU title.

The MASSIVE glitch that caused everything to go downhill.

The Amalgam.

I still think it needs a few tweaks here and there but this is one of four concepts I've had for it.

One time all four of these characters were together, which was relatively rare but possible, a glitch happened in the game. Pomni doesn't know where it started from and none of the game devs understand how it happened, but it did. Some devs think there's a hacker. A massive glitch pulled those four characters together into one terrifying being, always hostile and destructive. All the code of the characters were merged into this thing and somewhat scrambled. The game has now been broken to where once you're in, you can't escape until it's fixed, yet no one knows it, which is why Caine went in.

So much has happened and it's still being fixed, but a hostile blob of characters constantly attacking whenever it's near? It will be hard to fix.

It seems to be guarding something.

Concepts for the amalgam:

You can see in the first one I was going to put Zooble there but I still need a good design for Zooble. Let's see what they'll be.

I'M LISTED THERE!!!! THANK YOU DUCK DEVS <333 Anyways, I am a MASSIVE supporter and enjoyer, and I play any of their games! I cannot wait for Placid Plastic Duck - A Quiet Quest and also Slowly Sliding Ducks. ACE ATTORNEY - Becomes a hyperfixation every few months. You will know it happens when my entire theme changes to Godot and I spend every hour I am awake and should be asleep talking about it and / or reblogging posts about it and / or playing the games and / or watching the show AGAIN !!!

BUGSNAX - Probably THE biggest fixation I have ever had, took place the entirety of 2021. Pulled me out of the worst depression I've had in my life, made me start drawing again and I have over a dozen grumpus ocs. It's what made me comfortable enough to create headcanons and fan characters again. Holds a special place in my heart.

INFINITY TRAIN - My all time favorite show !!! I have ocs regarding this series and I rewatch it pretty frequently. It means a lot to me, I hold it in a special place in my heart :)

Ramblings of someone way to hyperfixiated on Nevadas "Nowhere" (Headcanons - Apparatus designs applied)

EYESTRAIN WARNING LATER DOWN IN THE POST!

Sooooooooo welcome to me rambling about outside of Nevada because god we dont talk about the Machine alot and it greatly upsets me so imma do it.

Do keep in mind this is all headcanon and applies to my appartus designs, so it may not apply as well to canon

Now the Nowhere, or also called the "Curtain Of Nevada", is what happens if you leave the borders of Nevada, also called the World Borders

The world border is the main thing keeping the area secluded and together in the world of Nevada, meaning nothing exists outside the borders, HOWEVER, due to this area being quiet big for the Machine to host on one single server, it cut up Nevada into different sections where loading is required, now loading for Nevadeans is simply spacing out for a second and then good is, for the Machine however it is necessary to manage everything on an organized level. The 4 zones would be Nexus City, Somewhere, Nevada Central and due to the Demoniac cult activities both Stygian and the Machine are in unison to have cut the Haunting House into its own seperate loading area to keep the improbability levels at least somewhat contained so it doesnt overflow with the drive active.

If you looked at the image closely you would have noticed some points on the world borders where it says "Enter Zone", Enter Zones are exactly what their name entails. While the world is indeed stable, theres some part of the border where its easier to cross behind "the curtain" than it is on others.

Now what i will have to elaborate on is exactly what i mean in the context of "curtain" Its quiet simple really Nevadeans and mortals in general do NOT see reality as it is, they see a simple illusionary curtain to keep their sanity stable. HOWEVER, the employers are complex enough to see the world for what it really is as they were built by the machine to keep order and to protect its very system which is everywhere and nowhere at the same time

Reality in actuality consists of corners, chains and platforms, or in the most simple definition i can give it The Machines Skeleton.

However only the employers can IN NORMAL SITUATIONS SEE THIS. Is it possible for Nevadeans to Noclip behind the curtain and see what reality really consists of? Yes but its not nearly as clear as the employers can

They can still see of course but massively impaired due to the fact they werent SUPPOSED to see this all. And their vision is not the only negative effects theyll take from going behind the curtain, because there is indeed 2 different scenarios:

Scenario 1: The Employers acting as the Machines security system would most likely notice this new arrival, and Auditor, being the first to usually take care of this issue, would rip them to utter shreds as now this Nevadean would pose a threat to the system due to having directly interacted with it.

Scenario 2: They are lucky enough to notice this isnt good and noclip back before any of the employers get alerted of their arrival. Even in this case they arent truely off the Hook as they either A. go insane from what their mind has just witnessed B. If enough mental collection is present, turn into a disquieted.

Some beings such as The S-3lf Eater however will not be affected by this as it was deliberatly built to suck energy off the Machine, due to this the Employers cant detect it as a threat either, essentially, its a parasite. (that was what the comic yesterday was about BTW)

Reality overall is a topic that not many talk about because only few know of the Machine as a concept, mostly only Dr Gonne, who abused this knowledge, 2BDamned who also abused said knowledge however in favour of the Maker and the Cyberbandits who have a way stronger connection to the Machine as it is "the serverhost".

Is a connection of the Machine, aka the server, ever SEVERED with a Nevadean it would have devestating effects on the Nevadean. The second the connection to "The Server" is gone, the Nevadean will IMMIDIANTLY loose most of their recollection and personality as the machine is the one storing the data of such. In most cases one of the younger employers, either Conductor or Auditor help to re-connect this individual with the Machine....or well if not i think we all know what they would do.

this is a bit of a tricky question since i have quite a lot of inspirations, though to whittle it down to a couple things, probably @loverdude, pretty much the entirety of Sparklecare & A Hat in Time and my good friend @veganbear!

there are a couple other inspirations out there, mostly from the folks from Toonkind, but it was mainly Loverdude's color palettes that inspired me to do brighter colors, and VB's character designs that inspired a lot of the designs that i make for my ocs (they were what inspired me to make Dylan as well!)

in general though, there are mainly just... a crap ton of video games and fandoms that inspired my art honestly! and i think it was my days drawing on scratch that made me super drawn to the textured brush style haha
