Kian's style is so outrageous because he doesn't want to be recognized outside of work. He wears a suit to work, a clean low ponytail, making exchanges and dealing with finances. He wears jackets with vibrant prints, and no shirt, and tight pants, and high heeled boots outside of work, going to bars, picking up gigs.

If someone recognized him at a gay bar, his career would be over. He would have to go back to being a starving artist, and creativity can't thrive if you can't eat. So he lets his hair down, teases his bangs, puts on makeup, turns himself into the man he wants to be. And at the end of the night he washes it off, combs his hair smooth, and makes sure that the evidence can't be seen the next day in the office.

In Galloway, they can't ruin his career. They can hurt him in other ways, but he still has his living. He still has money to live off of and can still pursue his dreams. And Rand and Rolan would never care about how he looks, not in any way that matters. He's a rockstar, of course he has that same ostentatious look to him that he had in high school.

I think it would be funny if the only reason that Rolan wasn’t as connected to the hive is NOT because he left Galloway for ten years.

Instead it is due to the fact that after the incident by the tree Rand or Kian found him and he essentially accidentally pack bonded with them over the hive—imprinted like a baby duck

I think it would be funny if Kian was absolutely terrified of insects and spiders but because Rolan is a bug he has to tell himself to not scream in terror whenever he sees a wasp because that might be his boyfriend's cousin or something and he doesn't want to hurt Rolan's feelings

Maybe the reason Rolan got so high off of straight up real actual non psychedelic mushrooms is because his bug brain is very susceptible to placebo effect

Like, every human behaviour he has, he picked up from people around him. Everything he knows how to do in a human way is just because something told him that when this happens, this is how your body or brain should react. When he’s given mushrooms and told that they’re supposed to have an effect on him, his brain goes “if you say so man. Activate silly mode”
