Unexpected glaze results are the most fun! (It’s a “happy accident) Except that this probably won’t be recreated (at least by me) as this vase was one from the cone 11 reduction firing Ceramics I class at @arcadiauniversity 🎉 If you’re still taking classes, try the antique vert (?) with the cream or white glaze over it... sorry🤷‍♀️ I just don’t remember which this was! Two‘fer Tuesday! I’m not sure how many of you mix your own glazes, but if you do... I know, you know #thestruggleisreal So many things to consider, chemistry, viscosity, thickness, temperature, application... changing one tiny part of the equation can give you completely different results AND WILL! 🤣 But this example... one that worked so good, def makes it almost worth all the struggles... It’s so hot here today, I believe this glaze may be re-melting! 🔥 This tumbler was one from an exercise we did in class... taking 10 balls of clay (all the same weight), pulling each into a cylinder and trying to get taller with each throw. It really helped me see that I was leaving too much clay in the bottoms (🤣😂a personal problem I also know all too well) & now that I know that, I am getting a bit more height on all my pieces🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉And who doesn’t wanna be taller??🎉 Even though at almost 5’8” I’m tall-ish’, I’ve always figured I’d just need another 3-6 feet in height to show the proper weight on those damned height/weight charts! 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜 Well maybe not that much... These Tenmoku glazed bity bowls are so hard to photograph... you can almost see the millions of gold specks that make it look so amazing out in the sun! I’m also trying to figure out WTH my reflection in the bowl is doing...
