Unexpected glaze results are the most fun! (It’s a “happy accident) Except that this probably won’t be recreated (at least by me) as this vase was one from the cone 11 reduction firing Ceramics I class at @arcadiauniversity 🎉 If you’re still taking classes, try the antique vert (?) with the cream or white glaze over it... sorry🤷‍♀️ I just don’t remember which this was! Two‘fer Tuesday! I’m not sure how many of you mix your own glazes, but if you do... I know, you know #thestruggleisreal So many things to consider, chemistry, viscosity, thickness, temperature, application... changing one tiny part of the equation can give you completely different results AND WILL! 🤣 But this example... one that worked so good, def makes it almost worth all the struggles... It’s so hot here today, I believe this glaze may be re-melting! 🔥 This tumbler was one from an exercise we did in class... taking 10 balls of clay (all the same weight), pulling each into a cylinder and trying to get taller with each throw. It really helped me see that I was leaving too much clay in the bottoms (🤣😂a personal problem I also know all too well) & now that I know that, I am getting a bit more height on all my pieces🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉And who doesn’t wanna be taller??🎉 Even though at almost 5’8” I’m tall-ish’, I’ve always figured I’d just need another 3-6 feet in height to show the proper weight on those damned height/weight charts! 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜 Well maybe not that much...
