personally i think sirius should live with james, lily and hari.
#remus too. but i think it'd take a lot of persuasion with hari living there. like he'd think he shouldn't because he'd be dangering a baby#or some shit like that.#but in the end that man does whatever sirius wants. and sirius wants to live with his family and his boyfriend#(peter would too but he hates living with loads of people/full houses cause of how he grew up)#<- same with marlene and dorcas but rather that they don't want to be around sirius and james 24/7 and don't like kids#also just realised this is very much a no-war situation so mary is still around. so i think she'd rather live with emmeline#like she'd def be visiting all the time. but she's so living in brighton with emmeline#is that everyone?? did i say everyone?? idk hopefully i did.#marauders era#marauders#sirius black#james potter#lily evans#hari potter#jily

Goodbye Lil Keets
Well, we feared it was coming - though not quite the destination predicted...
United forward Nikita 'Lil Keets' Parris has made her switch to Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, with an agreement to move to the south coast signed late on Friday.
The 30-year old had been with United for two seasons, having signed from Arsenal, and achieved a very tidy 25 goals in 57 appearances for the Red Devils. Chief amongst her achievements with United were the FA Cup win last season, as well as finishing top scorer for the club in the 23/24 season.
Parris turned down a move to the USA last winter, with reports suggesting that she wanted to see out the season with United and hopefully lift the FA Cup (mission accomplished). The move to Brighton now is for a fee rather than on a free due to United having a one-year extension clause in Parris' contract, which was activated.
Parris isn't the only outbound this summer, having seen sales of Irene Guerrero to Club America and Gemma Evans to Liverpool. There have also been the free departures of Mary Earps to PSG, Lucia Garcia to Monterrey, and Katie Zelem to Angel City FC in the NWSL.
Young striker Alyssa Aherne (pictured above) has also departed the club on loan, with the young winger heading to Sheffield United in the Championship to get much-needed game time for development - similar to how Grace Clinton was with Bristol City for their promotion to the WSL a few years ago.

i finally started watching the nanny!!
the reason i’m getting into it is bc i’ve seen some twitter artists redrawing the nanny’s outfits onto Ed and i’ve just started 2 watch the pilot but i see some ofmd characters in each one
Fran Fine = Edward Teach (ofc)
Maxwell Sheffield = Stede Bonnet (ofc)
With Margaret, i’m debating between Olu or Jim but she’s more Olu than Jim so it’s most likely Olu
Brighton Sheffield = Izzy (obvi)
With Grace, i most likely see Lucius since she’s so brutally honest and more healthy in the mind (she’s the therapist sibling, just like Lucius) and she’s so young as well! (like Nathan Foad)
Niles = Buttons(?)
With CC, i’m questioning if i see Mary in her but idk...
Lemme know what you guys think and tell me ur opinions of these casting choices!

Propaganda
Hermione Baddeley (Brighton Rock, Passport to Pimlico, Mary Poppins)— An absolute mainstay of British films from this period. She’s an icon who never takes shit from anyone in any of her movies, dresses for the occasion, and has the best line delivery! Also she started out in silent movies, and was a close friend of Noel Coward. In a desperate attempt to appeal to a large tumblr fandom, I will also point out that her first husband and one of her children were both called David Tennant. You like that name, don’t you tumblr??
Glynis Johns (Mary Poppins, The Court Jester)—LISTEN, I'd let that woman's voice with all its gravely hoarseness (positive) wash over me all goddamn day, but if that's not enough she managed to play the straight woman to Danny Kaye's jester, all with her cleavage so plunging it might as well have been catapulted into the ocean right after Basil Rathbone
This is round 1 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Glynis Johns propaganda:
She walks the line between sexy and cute. Her best role for me is in "The Court Jester as Maid Jean. She's fantastic as the soft but tough captain of the outlaw band and she looks stunning in every gown she wears throughout the film. And of course we can't forget her iconic turn as the suffragette mother, Mrs. Banks, in Mary Poppins! Also shoutout to her distinctive and beautiful voice, kind of smoky and husky. Extremely hot and set her apart from many of her peers."
"Listen, listen. I was raised on Mary Poppins and "Votes for women! (step in time)" single-handedly taught me how to be a feminist. Also The Court Jester is one of my favourite movies of all time and she is UNBELIEVABLY gorgeous, charismatic, funny, and clever in it. She knocks several men out. Absolute icon."
"Like Bette Davis she has eyes to die for. Unlike Bette Davis you felt comforted by them, even when she was batting her eyelashes at you. Would glady go to Downing Street with her and throw things at the Prime minister"
"She had this wonderful wit and charm to her no matter the role and the most distinctive, striking voice!"
"She was amazing in Mary Poppins (the Suffragette song is severely underrated) and apparently she was Welsh? National pride! And she advocated for arts funding in Wales, which is very cool. Also, she died recently (RIP) making her one of the last survivors of the Golden Age of Hollywood, according to Wikipedia. Also also, she just has a cheeky energy I like? And her eyes are beautiful!"
"I mean, incredibly beautiful and talented, can do drama can do comedy. And she was a mermaid."
"I love Glynis Johns. Most of the reason is The Court Jester where she's a sensible and capable foil to whatever what going on with Danny Kaye at the time. She was also the first star I based an OC on. An OC that I still have to this day! Anyway here have some YouTube links love u bye"

Match Review: Manchester United Women 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion Women
At this point, we might as well just say Nikita Parris rather than United. The girl keeps scoring 😂
For all my criticism of Mark Skinner, the decision to move Parris central and keep Geyse out wide right is paying dividends - with the Liverpudlian doing her best for United and continuing a hot streak of form.
Two goals from the forward in the 9th and 64th minute gave United the win at Leigh Sports Village against a tricky Brighton side who, whilst lacking the same goal threat, still managed to test Mary Earps on a few occasions with difficult stops.
The win keeps United in touching distance of Arsenal in third, and Skinner will need to keep the wins coming in if we're to stay in any sort of Champions League position contest. A title race seems too far from here, especially with Chelsea so resolute. Sam Kerr missing hasn't dulled their potency at all, though perhaps Emma Hayes' departure has them all fired up for a big send off. It's a common motivator...
United travel to Eastleigh next Saturday to face Southampton in the FA Cup, but then it's an away visit to the Emirates on the 17th to face off with Arsenal - a must-win for United.

Because today I woke up a chose violence, I'm going to point out everything wrong with this scene in 1995 P&P:
youtube
Upon seeing Wickham and Denny, Lydia crassly calls across the street and the gentlemen walk to her, though in the book she is not as vulgar.
All were struck with the stranger’s air, all wondered who he could be; and Kitty and Lydia, determined if possible to find out, led the way across the street, under pretence of wanting something in an opposite shop, and fortunately had just gained the pavement, when the two gentlemen, turning back, had reached the same spot.
This change is likely an attempt to display Lydia's vulgarity, but it goes overboard. She has enough propriety to not call across a street.
Lydia suggesting that Wickham come to their Aunt Phillips' makes Mary give Mr. Collins this side eye:
However, Mary shouldn't even be present:
Lydia’s intention of walking to Meryton was not forgotten: every sister except Mary agreed to go with her; and Mr. Collins was to attend them
This builds up the Mary/Mr. Collins ship, something the book does not do.
Only Bingley joins the party upon seeing the Bennets, though Darcy also joins in the book:
On distinguishing the ladies of the group the two gentlemen came directly towards them, and began the usual civilities. Bingley was the principal spokesman, and Miss Bennet the principal object. He was then, he said, on his way to Longbourn on purpose to inquire after her. Mr. Darcy corroborated it with a bow, and was beginning to determine not to fix his eyes on Elizabeth, when they were suddenly arrested by the sight of the stranger
Mr. Darcy not coming down off his horse to say hello makes him ruder than he is in the book.
Now here is the biggest issue:
Mr. Wickham touches his hat, Darcy just rides away. That is also not what happens:
Mr. Wickham, after a few moments, touched his hat—a salutation which Mr. Darcy just deigned to return. What could be the meaning of it? It was impossible to imagine; it was impossible not to long to know. In another minute Mr. Bingley, but without seeming to have noticed what passed, took leave and rode on with his friend.
Also, Darcy 1995 just freaking abandoned Bingley! That is very rude.
Does any of this matter? They are small changes but I would argue they are significant. Many people tell me that Mary was so in love with Mr. Collins, and her coming to Meryton and sharing a glance with Mr. Collins supports that theory. Darcy's strict sense of propriety is lost in these scenes, he's quite openly rude, even to Bingley! And Lydia is made worse than she is, she also insults Kitty:
Kitty asks if a bonnet will look good on her and Lydia replies:
Lydia never insults Kitty in the novel (though she does brag about her trip to Brighton). It's actually odd, since Kitty and Lydia are very close in the novel. 1995 makes their relationship more toxic than the book portrays.
Also, the actor playing Wickham was 38 during this mini? He looks his age here. Wickham is most likely 26 years old during the action of Pride & Prejudice.
But mostly, everyone tells me 1995 is SO accurate, but it does get important things wrong or different enough from the book that people remember them incorrectly. I just want to point out that this adaptation takes many liberties and isn't perfect. *ducks and runs away*
#P&P 1995#adaptation problems#it's fine as an adaptation but it does make changes#especially to Lydia#so many people tell me Lydia steals from Kitty#not in the book!#pride & prejudice

The Two Gentlemen Of Verona
William James Moriarty x Reader
"You guys need to find new hobbies besides reading all day." Sherlock rolled his eyes as he pulled himself up on the cobbled ledge just a few inches higher than the street they had disposed of themselves to walk on, azure eyes transfixed on a certain blonde haired man within view of him, as well as you, who had your arm locked with William's.
"Atleast we do not make it a hobby of ours to sit by a window and gaze out of it with a melancholy stupor thrice a day with not much motive as its accomplice." you shot back, feeling a sense of satisfaction well up in your heart as you noted the change in expression you had inspired in the great detective.
"Tch. You're always such a smartass, aren't ya?" Sherlock groaned, a hand running through his now much longer raven hair, as he pulled it up into a ponytail yet again.
"I suppose the shop spoken of by you must be the one there." William turned his gaze to a small shop, furnished by brisk wood, flowers protruding from the doorway with an almost elegant look about it, if one surmised to glance at it charitably enough.
"Thats the one." Sherlock gave a brief nod. "Jewellery is real cheap there. And looks good too. Though I'll warn you, they only deal in silver and an amalgam of it with copper or brass to imitate gold. There's none of the pure deal when it comes to gold, not even a 20 carat, given how it is affordable and quite in the sorts when it comes to such a common part of Lewes."
"We would not want anything excepting that which is 'quite in the sorts', I assure you." William replied with a chuckle. "We have quite tired of the frivolity of the exemptions. We only wish for something to fulfill our desires for cherishing, and not much else. There is no need for a lavish expense for such a simple task."
"Aye, as simple as how none of Proteus' wealthy affections could win over Valentine's earnest love." you chuckled. William quite liked your statement, for he gave out a little laugh.
"Would you guys stop with the inner Shakespeare jokes?!" Sherlock groaned. "You're different from John and Mary, thats for sure. Their gifts to each other are nothing less than extravagant."
Once inside the shop, you and William picked out some beautiful jewellery for each other, paying for it in a manner of all due propriety before returning to your house in Brighton by the dusk, Sherlock as company.
By the time you had had dinner and settled down, and Sherlock bade leave to his own house after a hearty meal at yours, you slipped into your nightclothes and made yourself comfortable to the idea of sleeping with William cradling you in his arms. That was when you felt something cool slip onto your neck. The silver necklace that William had bought you today, with small charms of roses and birds hanging on to its slender body. You turned your head to the back to meet with scarlet eyes gazing into your irises, a wide smirk decorating the lips of the man you loved as he ran his hand gently up your spine before it came to rest on the nape of your neck, your bare skin humbled by the warm touch of his rough, calloused palm.
"At first I did adore a twinkling star." William recited, his finger tracing the necklace woven around your neck gently. "But now, I worship a celestial sun." His finger brushed your lips, tilting your head upwards as the sweet bitterness of his own lips locked with yours, throwing you into disarray as you longed for breath that you could not afford as your husband kissed you deeper still, his arm steady around your waist as he kissed you gently, his warm chest pressing against your back. "That was quite witty of you, to make a reference you knew Sherly would not be able to comprehend. The Two Gentlemen of Verona." he mused.
"Someone had to bring him down a peg or two." you grinned as you turned around to face William and pressed a kiss to his chest, an action that caused him to blush and smile. "Your words are bonds, your oaths are oracles, your love sincere, your thoughts immaculate, your tears pure messengers sent from your heart, your heart as far from fraud as heaven from earth." you said softly, tracing a line from his chest to his exposed collarbone with your fingers. You felt the man shiver beneath your touch, his heartbeat picking up pace as he surrendered himself to your unyielding desire for him.
"Love." William whispered quietly with all the manner of a dark blush evident on his face. "Do spare me from the teasing. I find it hard to find strength in myself to even stand upright."
"Then you are a man of small resistance." you teased, pulling William closer and kissing his chest passionately, drawing a low whimper from the man. You pressed a kiss next to his collarbone, leading him to instinctively grip you tighter and pull you in closer.
"Only for you, madam." William blushed. "And never would I be a fool enough so as to choose any Silvia over you, nay, you are far greater than even Silvia and Julia combined, my dearest love, (Y/N)."

Never having seen the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, we watched it tonight.
It appears in all my ravings of the book and the 1995 mini over the year, the following plot points missed Sean:
Who Wickham is.
That Darcy sabotaged Jane and Bingley.
That Darcy unfucks himself.
Y'all, he cried during the second proposal scene. He does not cry like I cry at movies. This is an achievement.
Many other achievements:
Having Collins having a sweet face and terrible haircut and just being LIKE that.
Collins coming up to Darcy from behind and being SO MUCH SMALLER.
Collins wanting to sit next to his wife. In his weird way, he's a dutiful husband.
CHARLOTTE I LOVE YOU.
That's it. They did right by my girl.
YOU TOO MARY.
I did not know that Donald Sutherland was Mr. Bennett, and my god, he's perfect. A layered performance with kindness, compassion, sarcasm, and a little bit of asshole. Who clearly has affection for his wife. Which I argue the lack of is a weakness in the 1995 mini.
And, Mrs. Bennett in this is much more layered in her approach to everything. Still a bit crass in all the ways and shown to be very unlike her husband in many ways, but not as...flittery as the 1995 version, if that makes sense.
Look, I love the 1995 mini, but the way the Bennetts were portrayed as Mr. Bennett hating his wife and Mrs. Bennett being constantly dizzy with the womanly concerns doesn't match the tone of the book at all, imho.
Bingley is a golden retriever, as it should be.
I love they were like, "We need the most ethereally beautiful person in the world to be Jane. Someone even more strikingly beautiful than Kiera Knightly." I assume Rosamund Pike just appeared from the heavens on gossamer wings.
The dancing scenes were beautiful.
I have many, many more thoughts, but that's good for now. It is an absolutely beautiful adaptation of an absolutely immortal story, and I love it so much.
WAIT ONE MORE: Lizzie's ruffle on the collar calling back to Darcy's neckcloths when they were having moments of connection; ESPECIALLY IN THE LETTER SCENE when Lizzie finds that Lydia has run away. They're both in black. She's got the white collar ruffle. No doubt Lizzie is certain that if she'd accepted Mr. Collins, Lydia would not have been allowed to go to Brighton because she would have secured the house for her sisters through her marriage. And Darcy, fearing another young girl being tricked by Wickham, feeling a duty to fix things because he could have stopped this by just being like, "THIS DUDE'S A CREEP."
Anyway, done now. (YES THE HAND FLEX I KNOW)
