Like yes it is a children’s cartoon where the episodes have lessons attached but the lessons are actually things I needed to know as a kid! Like “don’t feed the trolls” and “it’s ok to be nervous at your first sleepover” and “infodumping isn’t shameful” and “how you can help your friends feel special and valued.”

So I see you know about moon girl season 2 do you know the shows at risk of not continuing if not enough people view it on the season 2 premiere feb 2 and binge watch 14 episodes feb 3. Will you help spread awareness and get more people to watch it sense Disney isn’t promoting it well.

I’ll do my best but I’ve recently just started a new job and sadly don’t have as much time to dedicate to this blog.

But yeah, for those who aren’t aware Season 2 of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaurs premieres on 2nd February. Then on the 3rd February, eps 1 - 14 will be available on Disney+.

I’m gonna presume these to be US dates, so they may vary by region.

I’m really enjoying Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. I’ve jokingly been referring to the “MGCU” (”Moon Girl Cinematic Universe”) for the last few months, usually in the context of discussing characters that I would rather appear in the Moon Girl animated series then in the MCU proper...

That said, uh, Maria Hill of S.H.E.I.L.D. is going to be in the show? Performed by Cobie Smulders, like in the MCU???

It’s just a guest role, of course, but it’s kind of funny to me that this isn’t being advertised as MCU-adjacent if it is going to include MCU cameos? Like, there is a multiverse for a reason. You can just say it’s some other corner of the multiverse that won’t have direct crossovers outside of, like, theme park events...

Though I’ll admit that I am biased and I am really hoping we see less MCU characters as guest heroes and more of the younger (and often more diverse) heroes that haven’t made it into the MCU yet. Specifically, I feel like Nadia Van Dyne / the Wasp and her fellow Agents of G.I.R.L. fit the themes of Moon Girl... almost perfectly?

In the comics, Nadia Van Dyne is a girl genius who escaped the Red Room (the Russian assassin training program that also trained Black Widow) and fled to New York City. Once in New York, she was inspired by Moon Girl and the institutional sexism baked into SHIELD’s list of the smartest people in the world to recruit a bunch of girl geniuses from across New York city to form an all-girl scientist team. In other words, her story is an all-ages superhero story with a focus on encouraging interest in STEM and highlighting the diversity of New York City... just like what MM&DD is setting out to do.

I wouldn’t expect Nadia and G.I.R.L. to be important - the focus is and should remain on Lunella, her family, and her classmates - but I could see an episode happening where Nadia shows up and announces the creation of GIRL to Lunella, they team up for a bit, probably having a conversation about Nadia’s disability (she has bipolar disorder) in the process, and GIRL becomes an off-screen source of intel that Lunella can tap into... and if this show can get Nadia to explicitly acknowledge her asexuality on-screen using the word “asexual,” then everyone involved will earn my undying respect!

i’m enjoying marvel’s moon girl and devil dinosaur and i hope y’all are too!! the art style is incredible and there’s a bunch of references to other animated shows (ex: naruto). i hope y’all give it a watch, it comes out on feb 15 on d+ and on disney channel, there’s already 2 episodes out!

Miles Morales

Okay, so I’m honestly not a big Marvel fan. When it comes to Marvel, I primarily like The Spiderverse movies, Big Hero 6, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and I’m obsessed with the present Spider-man video games. Spider-man: Miles Morales being my absolute favourite.

Anyway, the reason I said I’m not a huge Marvel fan is to preface that I don’t really know much about the various universes in it. I know the MCU exists, I know the Spiderverse explores the multiverse, etc but I don’t know much more than that.

I also don’t know which universe Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur takes place in.

Somethings I do know though, is the Avengers exist in both Marvel’s Spider-man (video games) as Avengers Tower is a location in both games. I also know that the Avengers exist in Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, as early in the series it is expressed that the Avengers never come to their neighbourhood.

Now in both you have two heroes, who are primarily local heroes for their communities. You’ve got Moon Girl who’s primary focus is the Lower East Side and then you’ve got Miles Morales’ Spider-man who’s primary focus is Harlem. I honestly loved it at the end of the game when the news team is asking who he is and the people of Harlem are just like, “That’s our Spider-man.”

Like you’ve got these two local heroes to their respective communities and two communities that often feel overlooked. I think it would be so cool to either have an episode of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur where Miles Morales makes a cameo or vice versa, it would be cool to have Moon Girl appear in the games.

Either way I’m cool with, but I think a crossover with these two characters would be awesome. Or hell even a crossover with Miles Morales from the Spiderverse.

Update

So as some of you will know, I started watching “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” last week. Sadly though, for some reason so far Disney+ in the UK only has up to episode 10 and it doesn’t appear to update on a regular schedule. So I guess I’ll watch the other episodes as and when they drop.

Once again “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” is ahead of the curve. If everyone expected the “The Owl House” finale to have an on-screen lip to lip contact…well we probably will but this show beat them to it in today’s episode.

I know my post about Casey’s dad has a bunch of likes and reposts, well I’m making another post about how they the first named characters on a Disney cartoon that showed their lip to lip kissing on-screen, unlike with TOH where you couldn’t see the lips behind Amity’s head.

I Won’t Force Content

Hey everyone,

With The Owl House very close to an end I just thought I’d put a little post regarding the future of this blog.

I am looking for a show to follow and refocus this blog on once The Owl House is over and the present contenders are:

- The Ghost and Molly McGee

- Hamster and Gretel

- Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Fingers crossed one of these shows takes my interest enough for me to refocus this blog on, however if none of them do I’m not going to force content either.

Part of the fun of this blog is sharing in a show I enjoy with people who likewise enjoy that show. If my heart truly isn’t in it, the content I create won’t be great and this blog won’t be fun to run. It will become a chore.

Regardless of what happens, I’m sure in time I will find a new show to focus my attention on but that being said, I won’t force content.
