I feel like I need to be clear about the lying and manipulation part of it .
When I confronted my mom as a kid she told me “if you stop believing you stop receiving” so basically “if you don’t believe in Santa then you don’t get presents anymore”. I got mad cause I knew I was being lied to and then asked her “we don’t even have a chimney so if he’s real how would he get in?” She thought about it for a second and then told me “he shrinks and comes through the keyhole to the front door”
I was 8 when I figured out he wasn’t real & 11 when I finally called my mom out because “Santa” had left me toys that was in my little brother and step siblings age ranges and I was super offended for multiple reasons
Me: “hey family, im not letting my kid think Santa is real and watching him all year so he’ll be “good”. It gave me extreme paranoia thinking someone was watching me 24/7 and when I was old enough to know he wasn’t real y’all continued treating me like a child. I’m going to find a way to incorporate Santa without my son thinking he’s a real person. Please respect that.”
My family: “but how do you know know he’ll turn out like you did?”
Me: “I don’t, but that’s the whole point of parenting. Why would I do something to my child that left me with lifelong paranoia that I’m constantly being watched???”
My family: “you’re taking away the spirit of Christmas 👹 lying and manipulating your kid into being good is what we’ve been doing for generations and we’re all fine”

Hey! I completely respect the santa thing, but if you want to compromise, maybe tell him Santa is forgiving and won't judge him even if he is that bad. Say that he's still getting presents because santa believes kids can make mistakes, and no matter how bad he is, he's still a good kid. Again, just an option bc I know i LOVED santa when I was younger and thinking about him was really magical for me.
He’s almost 3 so I have at least until next Christmas to fully figure it out, but my rough plan is to incorporate Santa in a way where he can still get a taste of the magic of it all but not think he’s a real person if that makes sense. I’ve seen other families do it in a way where their kids know he’s pretend and it still work out in a fun magical way so I know it’s possible. I promise I’m not a Scrooge or anything, I LOVE Christmas, I just don’t feel right about lying (which I physically can’t do without feeling sick, I wouldn’t be able to pull it off for however many years)
I also know that not everyone turned out like I did and that’s amazing, I love it! But it doesn’t feel right to parent my kid in a way that caused me to have issues that I still have to hash out in therapy lol. Side note, I do plan on talking to my therapist about this to get some ideas to go about it in a way that’ll work best for him from. She’s seen him every week during my sessions since he was born so she knows the kind of kid he is already and I think together +his dad, we can come up with a way to do it where he’ll still feel the magic of Christmas
I’m so glad that there’s people out there like you though! I don’t judge anyone that does Santa or anything like that, I hope I didn’t come across that way

Okay. Modern AU where Eddie Munson is a Twitch Streamer and he plays games like Elden Ring, Dark Souls, World of Warcraft, games like that.
ANYWAY, imagine you’re also a streamer and you ask to collab with Eddie and he’s a lowkey fan so he’s trying not to freak out and his chat keeps teasing him like “Bro you’re blushing so hard.”
And he goes “NO IM NOT!”
and it’s really cute and he’s so adorkable and you definitely start forming a lil crush on him and you continue to play more games with him, your banter is fun and flirty and both of your communities ship you two together.

You mean to tell me that
The man who just led police on a wild goose chase for 5 days and left decoys that basically trolled the cops chasing him just suddenly shows up at a random McDonald's in broad daylight with the gun, a written manifesto in his pocket, and all of his equipment conveniently on him
A minimum wage employee at McDonald's ratted on him
He just happened to show up just as people were really starting to calisfy in their opinions and were clowning endlessly on the cops
Yeah, you'll excuse me if I find this hard to believe

Also, the part i think she found the funniest was while visiting my dad, being given advice that i never would have expected my father to give me, we were playing candy land in a room full of like 30 other prisoners and their families. When i told her i was 17 when this happened she was so relieved, the candy land part really threw her off 😭
I was laughing too hard during my session but I’m pretty sure my therapist told me to write a memoir because of all the crazy stories I have from all the shit I went through growing up. Specifically about the advice my dad would give me while I was visiting him in prison, she thought it was really funny

Every time I go to write my only thought is “what are the stupidest things they could possibly do in this situation?”

I’ve been missing him 😭
no strings attached - 3
Bucky Barnes x f!reader
Summary: "No strings attached" was always a trap, you should have known your situation wouldn't be any different. Falling totally in love with Bucky would only end one way: tragically. So you handle it the only way your self destructive tendencies will allow.
Warning(s): adult themes 18+, reader makes dumb decisions
AN: it's probably just because I've got things going on in my personal life but I'm suddenly doubting some things in this story and where it's going this is a rare occasion where I'm going to ask for feedback please, it would be super appreciated 💕
